4. Unfinished Gratitude After
a few days of rest following my discharge from the hospital, I had almost fully recovered. I felt I should treat him to a meal, even though it wasn't enough to repay
even a fraction of his kindness in saving me. Besides, I didn't know why, but I found myself missing
him. I knew perfectly well that we were worlds apart, on completely different paths, and that our
paths had crossed by chance. After the collision, we would inevitably continue on our separate tracks, leaving only a few memories,
and nothing more.
While contacting him by phone was convenient, to show my respect and sincerity, I decided to visit him in person
and invite him. Even if he declined, I could at least see him.
His entertainment complex was very grand. The receptionist told me the general manager's office was on the 18th floor, but she couldn't be sure if
he was there. As soon as I stepped out of the elevator on the 18th floor, I saw a young woman, probably Mr. Gao's secretary. I said,
