Thirty-eight: Over the years, Yanqiu has worked very hard, and therefore, it has been very tough.
My second uncle didn't abandon his efforts to cultivate Yanqiu because of our relationship. Originally, he wanted to transfer Yanqiu
back to Shanghai, but Yanqiu insisted on getting back up where he fell. So, through some connections, my second uncle
managed to get Yanqiu back to Fuzhou. However, he was directly transferred from a position as a full-time secretary to the regional commissioner to become the Party
Secretary of Fangwan Town. The only thing he retained was his administrative rank, which remained at the deputy director level. Speaking of which,

was naturally established in Fangwan Town in 1965.
Yanqiu, unfortunately, was then appointed as the Party Committee Secretary of this nearly bankrupt city-owned textile factory.
In just five years, Yanqiu not only turned the factory around but also
opened up sales channels for its products, establishing distribution points in Shanghai and direct exports to Hong Kong. Fangwan's
reputation grew not only in Qiongcheng County and Fuzhou City but also throughout Huyang Province! The best proof is that Yanqiu,
with the humble position of a township Party Committee Secretary, was elected to the 13th National People's Congress,
becoming the youngest and lowest-ranking provincial delegate from Huyang Province. He
has also received the title of Advanced Worker of Huyang Province for four consecutive years!
The price he paid for all these honors was that, nearing 35, he already had sparse
white hair, looking like an old man from afar!
And I, I'm only 24 years old!
That year, after returning from Shanghai, I went back to Fangwan with Yanqiu. The town wanted to arrange for me to work at the supply and marketing cooperative, but Yanqiu
refused. I was assigned to Fangwan Middle School as a Chinese language teacher.
Following Yanqiu's instructions, I taught while studying, and in three years, I obtained
a bachelor's degree in adult education from Huyang University. Yanqiu then arranged for my second aunt to apply for a master's program at Fudan University for me.
Coincidentally, the city's Organization Department launched a special reserve cadre training program. With Yanqiu's skillful arrangements
, as an outstanding educator in Qiongcheng County, I obtained this publicly funded study opportunity. I did not disappoint
Yanqiu's expectations and passed the exam on my first try!
And so, Yanqiu and I became a long-distance couple, separated by distance. As for the child,
my second uncle had already taken her to Shanghai to raise.
This separation lasted for another two years. I was young and beautiful, but I could only wait for my man to come
to Shanghai for business so that we could meet once a year.
At first, I could force myself to adapt, but every time we met, Yanqiu was always so busy and in such a hurry
