【The Tale of Yun】(29)

Chapter Twenty-Nine: Physical Injury
Perhaps out of exhaustion, or perhaps because he felt it was unnecessary, Li Yun didn't close the door. Instead, he collapsed onto
his bed, hands behind his head, his mind a jumbled mess.
He didn't know how to get along with his mother afterward. He was certain of one thing: his mother would
n't pursue the matter of him staying out all night, nor would she tell his father. But
more painful than that was his mother's future opinion and attitude towards him.
Regardless of his parents' lifestyle outside, they had always loved and cared for him. Li
Yun, having read many books, knew this well. Now, he and his mother had completely broken off relations.
Could he still stay in this house? The thought of running away from home truly crossed Li Yun's mind.
Go to his aunt's? His aunt would definitely take him in, even support him directly. His aunt
understood him and knew about his family's situation. However, this would inevitably push his aunt to the opposite
side of his parents.
Li Yun felt that would be too unfair to his aunt.
Or perhaps he should simply wander the world, drifting aimlessly? In the past, Li Yun would have laughed at himself for having
such thoughts. A junior high school student without the ability to support himself, leaving his family, would only be able to beg on the streets
. However, after meeting Bei Gong Lingyu, he felt that it wasn't so terrible. In a sense
, wasn't Bei Gong homeless? Was he, a man, inferior to Bei Gong?
Just as Li Yun was lost in thought,
a "thump" came from his parents' room, something heavily hitting the floor...
The sound interrupted Li Yun's thoughts. He sat up, stunned for a long time before suddenly realizing something
. He rushed to his parents' room, pulled the doorknob, but couldn't open it. His mother had locked the door from the inside... Li Yun
could only pound on the door.
"Mom... what happened? Open the door... open the door..."
He pounded for a long time, but there was no response from inside.
"I can't worry about that anymore..." Li Yun started banging on the door with his body. After several attempts, Li Yun finally managed to break free

He saw his mother with a bruise on her forehead, her body limp on the floor, unconscious.
Li Yun rushed to her mother's side, pressing her chest and pinching her philtrum. After a while, his mother regained her breathing
rhythm and slightly opened her eyes. Seeing Li Yun, a look of disgust appeared on her face. She reached out to push
him away, but her limbs were clearly weak; to Li Yun, it was merely a simple action. Without thinking, Li Yun
carried his mother to the bed, then took off her shoes and socks, carefully covering her with the blanket. Then he stood
aside.
Perhaps Li Yun's subsequent actions made his mother feel a little concern. Her expression softened slightly
, but she remained cold.
“Mom, what happened?” Li Yun cautiously asked.
“Hmph…” His mother turned her head away. Seeing that his mother didn't speak, Li Yun turned around and looked around the room, noticing obvious dents
on the open door of the wardrobe .
Recalling the sound he had just heard and the bruise on his mother's forehead, Li Yun quickly
figured out the cause. He guessed his mother hadn't been paying attention and had bumped her head on the cabinet door while opening and closing it.
And because the impact was so hard, she had actually fainted on the spot.
Li Yun thought for a moment, then spoke up. "Mom, I know you're angry with me. But you didn't need to bang your head against
the door like that." Without waiting for his mother to reply, he suddenly turned around and slammed his head against the same door.
With a loud "thud," the force was so great that Li Yun felt dizzy and saw stars. He himself didn't understand
why he had done such a thing. Deep down, he felt that his mother was suffering, and he
was the one who caused it. He just felt that suffering the same pain himself would make him feel better.
Upon hearing Li Yun's words, her mother wanted to lash out, but seeing Li Yun hit her head, she panicked and cried out,
"Xiao Yun, are you crazy?" She tried to get up to help Li Yun, but her limbs were too weak to even sit up.
Seeing that Li Yun hadn't fainted, but was only swaying slightly, her heart eased slightly, but seeing
the head injury on Li Yun's head after she turned around, her mother immediately tensed up again.
"What are you doing... come here... come here, let Mom take a look..."
Li Yun was truly dizzy at this point, and only upon hearing her mother's voice did she sway halfway down onto
the bed. Her mother reached out and gently stroked Li Yun's forehead... murmuring, "It's alright, it's alright, no
bones are broken." Her love was overflowing.
Li Yun gradually became more awake, feeling the soft, warm touch of her mother's hand on her cheek.
This made Li Yun feel as if she had returned to her childhood... when her mother would also stroke her like this, and she
would always fall into a deep sleep in her mother's gentle caresses. Li Yun slowly closed her eyes and
fell asleep.
She didn't know how long she slept… but suddenly woke up. Looking up, she saw her mother still in
the same position as before she fell asleep, one hand still stroking the wound on Li Yun's forehead. Her mother's cold
expression was gone, replaced by her usual gentleness.
Seeing Li Yun awake… her mother said softly, "Mom is very tired and wants to sleep for a while. Xiao Yun, you can go
out now."
Li Yun nodded, got up, went to the door, and then turned to ask, "Mom, do you want something to eat?"
Her mother hesitated… a slight smile appeared on her lips, and she said with a hint of distrust, "You can cook?"
Li Yun smiled and replied, "There's always a first time." Then she left the room. Looking at
the clock above the living room, it was already late afternoon… Li Yun realized that she had slept for at least several
hours.
