Prince Zixun of Jin'an was the third younger brother of Ziye. He was enfeoffed as a prince at the age of five and appointed governor of Jiangzhou at the age of eight. Ziye had examined the succession of Emperor Wu of Song, and found that he was the third son of Emperor Wu, Emperor Taizu Yilong, and Emperor Shizu Jun. Fearing that Zixun would also be the third son, Ziye intended to eliminate him as soon as possible. Hearing that He Mai had plotted to install Zixun as emperor, he became even more suspicious and sent his courtier Zhu Jingyun to poison Zixun.

Zixun heard of this and immediately ordered martial law. He summoned his officials and ordered General Pan Xinzhi to proclaim to his troops that the current emperor was both licentious and cruel, and that the state was on the verge of collapse. Wouldn't that be delightful?" Ziye sighed and said, "What fun is there with just the two of us?" Hua Yuan'er said, "Yes, yes, Your Majesty, if you think it's not lively with too few people, you can bring a few more attendants. I'll go and summon them right away." After saying this, he was about to leave when Ziye suddenly grabbed him and said, "I don't need any attendants. Just go and summon the palace maids and concubines, along with my favorite ministers. Tell them that I want to go to the Bamboo Grove Hall in the Hua Garden with them, and order them to come here immediately!"

Hua Yuan'er dared not delay and obeyed the order. In no time, several hundred palace maids and concubines, along with a group of favorite ministers, gathered outside the palace. Ziye was overjoyed and led these several hundred people toward the Bamboo Grove Hall in the Hua Garden. After I die, I will become a vengeful ghost and will never forgive you, you tyrant!" Ziye laughed instead of being angry, pointing at Qiuyue and saying, "Good! Good! You lowly slave! Want to die? Do you think it's that easy? Quickly pin this wretch to the horse, I want this wretch to be slaughtered to death by the horse!"

Qiuyue would rather die than be humiliated, struggling desperately and cursing, "You tyrant who will have no descendants, you beastly villain, you will die a horrible death, and after you die, you will be dug up from your grave and whipped!" Ziye was instantly enraged, rushed in front of Qiuyue, drew his sword, and said viciously, "You lowly dog slave!" After saying that, he raised his sword and brought it down, her head falling to the ground. Ziye, still not satisfied, took a breath and ordered, "Throw this slut out of the palace and feed her to the wild dogs!"

Even ants cling to life, and the palace women, seeing this, had no choice but to obey to save their own lives. The poor, beautiful women were ravaged by dogs and horses; several had their genitals mutilated and died unjustly. Ziye, however, was smug and only returned to the palace at dusk.

That night, as he went to sleep, he vaguely saw a woman suddenly enter him, covered in blood, pointing a spear and cursing, "You are rebellious and immoral! Do you think you'll survive until next year?" Ziye awoke with a start, recalling the dream vividly. The next morning, he went to inspect the palace and happened to see a palace woman whose face resembled the woman in his dream. He reported back and ordered her execution. That night, he dreamed again of the palace woman he had killed, her hair disheveled, who came to him and fiercely cursed, "I have appealed to God, and I shall kill you!" With that, she held her head and threw it at Ziye. Ziye cried out and fainted. Upon waking, he was still shaken.

Ziye's actions were reckless, defying Heaven's will and alienating the people. The entire court wanted him dead. Liu Yu, the Prince of Xiangdong, having suffered countless humiliations, hated Ziye to the core and had long plotted to assassinate him and seize the throne.

One day, Liu Yu secretly summoned Ziye's close attendants, Shou Jizhi and Jiang Chanzhi, saying he had important matters to discuss. I'm listening." Jia Ping hurriedly kowtowed and said, "Your Majesty, spare this servant's life, only then will this servant dare to speak." Ziye waved his hand and said, "My dear minister, you are truly a stubborn person. How can I kill you without cause? Just tell me, and I will forgive you."

Jia Ping hesitated for a long time before finally saying: "The female ghost kept cursing: 'You tyrant, you defy the laws of Heaven, you deserve a terrible death!'" Ziye frowned and said, "Why do these words sound so familiar?" Jia Ping said, "Your Majesty, have you forgotten that palace maid named Qiuyue?" Ziye suddenly realized, "Ah, that's it! That lowly maid always loves wearing red, it must be her! My dear minister, you are an expert in this field, quickly think of a way for me to escape this calamity, and I will reward you handsomely!"

Jia Ping pondered for a while and said, "Your Majesty, ghosts fear noble people! If Your Majesty can personally go to the haunted place and shoot the ghost with arrows, then the ghost will surely flee!" Ziye said without thinking, "That's it! At night, Ziye, with several hundred palace maids, concubines, and guards, under Jia Ping's arrangement, went in a grand procession to the Bamboo Grove Hall in Hualin Garden to exorcise the ghost. When they arrived at the haunted place, they waited for a long time, but there was no movement at all. Ziye asked Jia Ping, "My dear minister, what's going on?" Jia Ping replied, "There are probably too many people, so the ghost dares not show itself." Ziye waved to his followers, "All of you, step back. No one is allowed to enter without my order."

A short while after they left, Ziye indeed saw a female ghost in red float by, appearing and disappearing. He quickly drew his bow and shot an arrow, and the ghost vanished. Just as he was rejoicing, a commotion erupted outside. Ziye looked closely and saw his attendants, Shou Jizhi and Jiang Chanzhi, entering with swords drawn and faces full of murderous intent.

Ziye exclaimed in surprise, "What are you two doing here, disobeying my orders?" Shou Jizhi pointed his sword at Ziye and said, "You tyrant! Today I will take your life and present it to the prince!" Without waiting for Ziye's reply, he swung his sword to strike. Ziye hurriedly drew an arrow and shot, but in his panic, the arrow missed. Shou Jizhi rushed forward and plunged his sword into Ziye's chest, ending his life.

The so-called red-clad female ghost was actually a clever plan given to Shou Jizhi and Jiang Chan by Liu Yu.

At that time, Ziye was only seventeen years old and had reigned for less than a year. Ziye was killed by Shou Jizhi, and Liu Yu, the Prince of Xiangdong, was the true culprit in the regicide. However, Ziye was licentious, tyrannical, and cruel, even surpassing the ancient tyrants Jie and Zhou. Liu Yu's murder and replacement of him was in accordance with the will of Heaven. From the fall of the Eastern Jin Dynasty in 420 AD to the unification by the Sui Dynasty in 589 AD, a period of approximately 170 years, China experienced a period of north-south division known as the Northern and Southern Dynasties. Later, the Northern Qi Dynasty replaced the Eastern Wei, and the Northern Zhou Dynasty replaced the Western Wei. The Northern Zhou then conquered the Northern Qi, and finally, in 581 AD, the Northern Zhou was replaced by the Sui Dynasty established by Yang Jian. This period lasted for over 140 years. These five dynasties are collectively referred to as the Northern Dynasties.
