Li Wan's Three Challenges to Jia Baoyu: One of the Twelve Beauties of Jinling

The poem,
"Acting Lewdly on Behalf of Heaven, " reads after 5679 visits : "Alas, the debt of love is hard to repay, a stubborn stone is reborn to relieve the sorrow of flowers; most beautiful faces fade easily, the twelve beauties vie in their charm. Ashamed to show her vulva before her lover, she scatters her hairpins and falls from the painted pavilion; the evening bell tolls, sleep eludes her, a dream in Jinling ends with the water flowing away in vain." It is said that Jia Baoyu was the grandson of Jia Daishan, the hereditary Duke of Rongguo, and the second son of Jia Zheng, a junior official in the Ministry of Works. His nicknames were Yihong Baoyu, the Flower King of the Silken Cave, and the Idle Man of Wealth. Originally a stubborn stone forged by Nuwa, he was not chosen to mend the heavens due to his lack of talent. After being refined, the stone gained sentience, coming and going at its own pace, able to change size. He was left in the Crimson Cloud Palace by the Fairy Disenchantment, named the Divine Attendant of the Crimson Cloud Palace. However, he was taken by a monk and a Taoist to a prosperous and civilized land, a family of scholars and officials, and was reborn into the Jia family with a beautiful jade in his mouth, inscribed with the four characters "Spiritual Jade." It was that very same troublemaker, that wicked devil, from the Rongguo Mansion. That day, Baoyu lay on his niece-in-law Qin Keqing's bed, gradually growing drowsy, and drifted off to sleep. He seemed to be with Qin Keqing before him, and drifted along with her to a place. There he saw vermilion railings and jade steps, green trees and clear streams—a place truly untouched by human footsteps and dust. In his dream, Baoyu rejoiced, thinking, "This place is wonderful! If I could spend my whole life here, it would be far better than being constantly disciplined by my parents and teachers!" Lost in thought, he heard someone singing from behind the mountain: " Spring dreams scatter with the clouds, flying blossoms drift with the water. A message to all children: why seek idle sorrow?" Baoyu recognized the voice as a girl's. Before the song faded, a beautiful woman emerged from the other side, graceful and elegant, unlike any ordinary person. Baoyu, seeing that it was a fairy maiden, was overjoyed and hurriedly bowed, asking with a smile, "Fairy sister, where do you come from, and where are you going? I don't know where this place is either, please take me with you. " The fairy maiden said, "I reside above the Heaven of Separation from Sorrow, in the Sea of Sorrow, and I am the Fairy Disenchantment of the Realm of Illusion. I oversee the romantic entanglements of the mortal world, and manage the grudges of women and the infatuations of men. Our meeting today is no accident. Knowing that you are a romantic nemesis, and fearing that you will face tribulations in the next life, I have come to visit you and spread my love. This place is not far from my realm; would you like to come with me for a visit?" Baoyu was overjoyed and followed the fairy maiden to a place where he suddenly saw a stone tablet erected in front of him, with the four characters "Realm of Illusion" written on it. Turning past the tablet, he saw a palace gate with four large characters written on it: "Sea of Sin and Heaven of Love." There was also a couplet that read: "The vast earth and high heavens bear witness to the endless emotions of the past and present; the infatuated men and resentful women are pitifully burdened with unfulfilled romantic debts." Baoyu thought to himself, "So that's how it is. But I wonder what 'love throughout the ages' has to do with me, and why I have 'debts of love and lust'? From now on, I must experience it for myself. " With this thought in mind, Baoyu followed the fairy into the second gate. He saw many things, but only a few places marked "Department of Passionate Love," "Department of Grudges," and "Department of Morning Tears." Baoyu looked at them and said to the fairy, "May I trouble you to guide me to these departments?" The fairy replied, "These departments keep registers of women's past and future; you are but a mortal with worldly eyes and a dusty body, it is not appropriate for you to know them beforehand. " Baoyu, unwilling to part with them, pleaded again and again. The Fairy Disenchantment then said, "Very well, if someone is destined to be with you, they may offer their blessings here. " Baoyu was overjoyed. He looked up at the plaque above the plaque, which read "Department of Ill-fated Women," with a couplet on either side: "Spring sorrows and autumn griefs are all self-inflicted; for whom do flowery faces and moon-like beauty bloom?" Baoyu felt a pang of sorrow upon seeing this. Entering the room, he saw several large cabinets, all sealed with tape, each bearing the name of a different province. The Fairy Disenchantment only looked at those related to Baoyu, and saw that the seal on one cabinet read in large characters, "The Official Register of the Twelve Beauties of Jinling." Baoyu asked, "What is the 'Twelve Beauties of Jinling Main Register'?" The Fairy Disenchantment replied, "It is the register of the twelve most outstanding women in your household, hence the main register. " Baoyu said, "We have hundreds of girls in our household alone, how come there are only twelve?" The Fairy Disenchantment smiled and said, "There are many women in your household, but we only selected those with whom you have a karmic connection from a past life. The two cabinets on either side are secondary registers. " Baoyu looked at the first cabinet, which read "Twelve Beauties of Jinling Supplementary Register," and another cabinet read "Twelve Beauties of Jinling Further Supplementary Register." As Baoyu was about to examine them more closely, the fairy, knowing his exceptional talent and intelligence, fearing he might reveal heavenly secrets, closed the registers and laughed, "Your previous life was a magical jade, now fallen into the mortal world, destined for romantic entanglements. Many amorous women in the world may find it difficult to escape your fate! These three registers contain the romantic debts you owe. " Hearing this, Baoyu was terrified, feeling utterly defiled. Fairy Disenchantment quickly took Baoyu's hand and said with a smile, "You don't know the whole story. I happened to pass by the Ning Mansion and encountered the spirits of the two Dukes of Ning and Rong. They instructed me, 'Our family has enjoyed wealth and honor since the founding of the dynasty, for over a hundred years. But our fate has run its course and cannot be reversed. Although we have many descendants, none can carry on our legacy. Only our eldest grandson, Baoyu, is eccentric and capricious. Although he is intelligent and has some potential, our family's fate is sealed, and we fear there will be no one to guide him onto the right path. Fortunately, the fairy maiden has come by. I hope she can first use matters of passion, desire, and sensual pleasures to awaken his foolishness and stubbornness. Perhaps she can help him escape the allure of temptation and enter the right path. That would be a great blessing for us brothers.'" "Because of this instruction, I have shown you compassion and brought you here. First, I will provide you with the complete registers of the women of the household, categorized into upper, middle, and lower classes, for your perusal. After you return, you must indulge in carnal desires and spiritual fantasies to repay your karmic debts and experience the illusions of food, drink, and sensual pleasures. The sea of desire is boundless; turning back is the shore. Perhaps you will one day awaken to its truth, who knows? " He then took a book of erotic illustrations and gave it to Baoyu. When Baoyu opened it, he saw images of "Daiyu yearning for spring, Baochai's foreplay, Xifeng's seduction, Tanchun exposing her genitals, Xichun's dual cultivation, Yingchun's ascension, Yuanchun's pert buttocks, Li Wan's masturbation, Miaoyu playing the flute, Xiangyun lying naked, Qiaojie's pleasing gestures, and Keqing's shaking breasts. " Baoyu had never seen such things before, and he was inevitably aroused and dizzy. Seeing Baoyu's confusion, the Fairy Disenchantment sighed, "Foolish child, you still haven't understood!" She then led Baoyu to a fragrant boudoir, where the furnishings were more magnificent than anything she had ever seen before. Even more astonishing was the presence of a fairy maiden inside, whose beauty and charm were much like Baochai's, and whose graceful elegance was like Daiyu's. Just as he was wondering what she meant, the Fairy Disenchantment suddenly said, "How many wealthy families in the mortal world, with their verdant windows and embroidered chambers shrouded in mist and clouds, have been defiled by those lewd and dissolute women. What's even more hateful is that throughout history, countless frivolous and dissolute men have used 'being lustful but not lewd' as an explanation, and 'being affectionate but not lewd' as a pretext for their crimes. These are all just words to cover up their shame. Being lustful is lewd, and being affectionate is even more lewd. Therefore, the meetings at Wushan and the pleasures of lovemaking are all caused by being pleased with the appearance and indulging in the feelings. The one I love is the greatest lewd person in the world, past and present!" Upon hearing this, Baoyu was so frightened that he hurriedly replied, "Fairy, you are mistaken: I am lazy in my studies, and my parents still admonish me. How dare I utter the word 'lewd'? Besides, I am still young and do not know what 'lewd' means." The Fairy Disenchantment said, “No. Lust is a principle, but the intention is different. Those who are lustful in the world are merely pleasing to the eye, enjoying singing and dancing, teasing without end, and engaging in sexual intercourse at any time, wishing they could have all the beautiful women in the world to satisfy their pleasure for a moment: these are all foolish creatures who indulge in physical lust. But you, on the other hand, are born with a deep affection, which we call ‘mental lust’.”

The two words "lustful thoughts" can only be understood in the heart and cannot be spoken aloud; they can be understood through the mind but cannot be expressed in words.
You alone possess these two words, which may make you a good friend in the inner chambers, but in the world you will inevitably appear eccentric and strange, subject to ridicule and scorn.

Now that your ancestors, Ning and Rong, have entrusted me with these profound instructions, I cannot bear to see you alone bring glory to our inner chambers while being rejected by the world.
Therefore, I have brought you here, intoxicated you with fine wine, refreshed you with celestial tea, and awakened you with exquisite music.
Furthermore, I will betroth my younger sister, whose childhood name is Jianmei and courtesy name is Keqing, to you. The marriage will take place tonight at this auspicious time.
Even just letting you experience the splendor of this celestial realm is so difficult; how much more so the realities of the mortal world! From now on, you must understand and correct your past mistakes, pay attention to the teachings of Confucius and Mencius, and dedicate yourself to the path of economics.
Having said this, she secretly instructed him on matters of love and intimacy, saying, "The method of male-female intercourse follows the principles of heaven, earth, and human relations.
I will impart to you the secret arts of the bedroom. You may act as a substitute for heaven in your sexual acts, sprinkling jade dew to nourish the boudoir and resolve the lingering resentment of lonely women.
You must never do anything that involves climbing over walls, causing trouble in the boudoir, or poisoning innocent women throughout the world.
Remember my instructions.
" Then she pushed Baoyu into the room, closed the door, and left.

Baoyu, in a daze, followed the instructions of the Fairy Disenchantment to "act as a substitute for heaven in your sexual acts," and inevitably began to do things that are difficult to describe.
The next day, they were tender and affectionate, speaking softly and tenderly, inseparable.

Now, after this dream of Nan Ke, Baoyu's heart remained in a state of spiritual awareness, determined to "act as a substitute for heaven in your sexual acts," and never forgetting his wish to "repay his debt of love and lust."
He then followed the clues and met the Twelve Beauties of Jinling and other beauties of the Qinhuai River. He was captivated by their looks, delighted by their singing and dancing, and insatiably flirted with them, wishing he could gather all the beauties in the world to enjoy their company and forge intimate relationships.
He only wished for a room full of beautiful women,

surrounded by their allure. Fortunately, although Baoyu was dashing and charming, he was not vulgar, nor was he offensive.

His love for women was always consensual.
Otherwise, how many more women would have suffered injustice?

Afterwards, Baoyu experienced the full spectrum of romance and beauty, visiting countless women throughout the land. Finally, he had a profound awakening, understanding the principle of "blessing the virtuous and punishing the wicked, awakening the foolish to love."
Thus, he saw form in emptiness, felt love from form, transmitted love into form, and ultimately realized emptiness through form.
Finally, he reached the ultimate emptiness of form, severing the entanglements of worldly emotions and entering the realm of the profound.

In the end, Baoyu, a high-ranking scholar, renounces worldly ties and, together with a monk and a Taoist priest, enters the Buddhist order, drifting away to the afterlife.
It can be said: Fate comes and goes like water, love arises and fades, yet is hard to extinguish.

However, the depiction of bedroom pleasures is undeniably bordering on obscenity.
To educate future generations of respectable children, Cao Xueqin himself said: "Having experienced a dreamlike existence, I concealed the true nature of love and lust, and through the concept of spiritual communication, wrote *Dream of the Red Chamber* (also known as *The Story of the Stone*) to inform the world; it can also be passed down among women.
It can dispel temporary boredom and awaken the eyes of my contemporaries, is that not appropriate?" *Dream of the Red Chamber* merely records mundane family affairs and has absolutely no harmful or obscene content.
However, it employs many methods to change customs and habits, hence the name "Jia Yucun," etc., to guide and admonish future generations.
It always aims to lead readers to the end so they can understand the outcome and learn a lesson.
The use of words like "dream" and "illusion" in the middle reflects the book's core theme and serves as a subtle reminder to the reader.

However, among erotic books, *Dream of the Red Chamber* is arguably the worst, as it depicts the passions of infatuated men and women without ever explicitly mentioning lewdness, yet it captivates the reader's imagination and swayes their thoughts—akin to a great thief who doesn't wield weapons.
The scenes of Baoyu and the Twelve Beauties of Jinling, including intimate encounters, undressing, and sharing beds, are the envy of many! While these intimate moments are vividly portrayed, they remain largely unknown to the world.
To provide a wider readership, later scholars of *Dream of the Red Chamber* have diligently sought to verify these details.
These events are scattered throughout the works of various masters.

I, lacking talent and despite my limited abilities, have hastily composed a series of short stories about the Twelve Beauties of Jinling, such as "Baoyu Tasting Tea and Inquiring about Zen at the Green Bamboo Hermitage" and "Jia Baoyu Filial Piety Towards His Aunt and Uncle." These stories
aim to complete the depiction of the leisurely lives of women in their boudoirs.
However, these anecdotes are almost entirely absurd and unverifiable, far removed from Cao Xueqin's original intention.
Readers are encouraged to read them for entertainment and simply laugh them off. Let

's return to the previous chapter, where we recounted how Baoyu and Aunt Xue had several intimate encounters and slept together.
As dawn broke, Baoyu muttered, "Oh no! Oh no!" What exactly happened? Let's find out.
Now
, Baoyu awoke from his dream and remembered that his father, Jia Zheng, would be testing his studies the next day at dawn. Having never studied before and having not crammed at the last minute, he was terrified.
Without even washing or grooming himself, he rushed to Jia Zheng's study with disheveled hair.

His guests reported that the master had already gone to court to meet the emperor.

It turned out that since the Imperial Concubine's return home, Jia Zheng had become even more diligent and cautious in his official duties, hoping to repay the emperor's favor.
The Emperor, seeing that he was of upright character and had a dignified demeanor, and though not from a scholarly family, came from a family of scholars, specially appointed him as an educational inspector, undoubtedly intending to select truly talented individuals.
Jia Zheng had no choice but to obey the decree and set off on the 20th of August.
On that day, after bidding farewell to the ancestral hall and Grandmother Jia, he departed.
How Baoyu and the others saw him off, and the various matters concerning Jia Zheng's departure, will not be detailed here.

Instead, let's focus on how Baoyu, after Jia Zheng's departure, indulged in wandering freely in the garden every day, truly wasting his time and adding years to his life.
Baoyu and the others continued to play and compose poems in the garden, but we won't go into that.

One day, feeling particularly bored, he went to Grandmother Jia and Lady Wang's place for a while, and then returned to the garden.
Just as he changed his clothes, Cui Mo, the maid of the Third Miss Tan Chun, came in, holding a piece of flowery stationery, which she showed him.
It turned out to be an invitation to everyone in the Grand View Garden to form a poetry club, with the aim of "gathering poets in the windy courtyard and moonlit pavilion; reciting poems amidst the apricot and peach blossoms by the curtain."

Upon seeing this, Baoyu clapped his hands in delight and laughed, "Third Sister is indeed elegant. I will go and discuss it with her now.
" As he spoke, he went with Cuimo to Qiushuangzhai, where they found Baochai, Daiyu, Yingchun, and Xichun already there.

When everyone saw him enter, they all laughed and said, "Another one has arrived.
" Baoyu said, "This is a very important matter, everyone should cheer each other up and stop being modest.
Everyone should speak up and let everyone comment.
Sister Bao, please give us an idea, and Sister Lin, please say something.
" Baochai said, "What are you so busy with! Not everyone is here yet!" Before she finished speaking, Li Wan also arrived, smiling as she entered, "How elegant! If you want to start a poetry club, I'll volunteer to be the leader.

I had this idea last spring, but after thinking about it, I realized I can't write poetry, so what's the point of messing around? Therefore, I forgot about it and didn't mention it.
Since Third Sister is happy, I'll help you start it up.
" Daiyu said, "Since you're determined to start a poetry club, we'll be the poets. First, we should change these terms like 'sisters and uncles' to avoid being vulgar.
" Li Wan said, "That's right.
Why not use nicknames, so we can address each other more elegantly? I've already decided on 'Old Farmer of Rice Fragrance,' and no one else has taken that name. "
Next, Daiyu was given the title "Xiaoxiang Consort," Baochai was given the title "Hengwu Lady," and Tanchun was given the title "Jiaoxia Guest."
Yingchun was called "Lingzhou," and Xichun was called "Ouxie.

" Baoyu said, "What about me? You can think of one for me too.
" Baochai laughed and said, "You already have a title: 'Busy with Nothing.
' The three characters are very fitting!" Li Wan said, "You can still keep your old title, 'Master of the Ribbon Cave.'"
Baoyu laughed, "I don't deserve it! You can call me whatever you want.
" Daiyu said, "How can you call me whatever you want! Since you live in Yihong Courtyard, why not just call me 'Yihong Baoyu'?" Everyone said, "That's fine too.
" Li Wan said, "That's the best way.
But I'm the oldest, so you all have to follow my idea. I'll make sure everyone agrees.
We seven are starting a poetry club. The second and fourth young ladies can't write poetry, so the three of us have to give way.

We three will each take on a task.
"
Tanchun laughed, "We already have nicknames, so it's better not to keep calling each other that way. If
we make a mistake later, we should at least have a penalty agreement."
Li Wan said, “My place is big enough that we can set up a poetry club there. Although I can’t write poetry, these poets don’t mind my vulgarity and have allowed me to be their host. I’ll naturally become more refined myself. They even want me to be the club president.
One president isn’t enough, so we need to invite two vice presidents. Let’s invite the two scholars from Lingzhou and Ouxie, one to set the topic and rhyme, and the other to transcribe and supervise the proceedings.
Once the club is established, we need to establish rules.
Anyone who violates the rules will be punished severely.
Let’s get started. If they don’t agree with me, I won’t dare to follow suit.
” Everyone nodded in agreement.

Yingchun and Xichun, by nature lazy when it came to poetry, and with Xue and Lin already there, they both agreed with this suggestion, saying,
"That's perfect.
" Baoyu said, "In that case, let's go to Daoxiang Village.
" Li Wan said, "You've been so busy.
We've only discussed it today; I'll invite you later.
" Tanchun said, "We really need to come up with a name for the poetry club.
It can't be too common, nor too novel or eccentric.
Luckily, it's the beginning of the Begonia Poetry Club, so let's call it 'Begonia Poetry Club.'
Although it's a bit common, since it's a real event, it won't be a problem.
" Baoyu and everyone else agreed.
After that, they chatted for a while and then dispersed.
But that's another story.

A few days later, Li Wan hosted a poetry club gathering at Daoxiang Village, with prizes for the winners and penalties for the losers.

Now, Baoyu, having received the book, strolled straight there from Yihong Courtyard.
He stepped out of the pavilion, not realizing that dusk was approaching. Looking up, he saw a bright moon shining in the cloudless sky, the spring light radiant. Passing several pavilions, he felt a gentle breeze and heard a faint fragrance in the air. He sighed, "Winter has passed so quickly, and spring has suddenly arrived! Life is short; we must seize the day!
" Turning past the mountain, he saw the Yellow Mud Courtyard of Daoxiang Village, with several thatched cottages inside. Outside, young branches of mulberry, elm, hibiscus, and osage orange trees formed two rows of green fences.
Below the hillside beyond the fence was an earthen well, with a well sweep and pulley beside it; hundreds of apricot blossoms bloomed like fire and rosy clouds.

Baoyu walked and sighed, marveling at the sight, truly saying, "The spring colors of the whole garden cannot be confined; a branch of red apricot blossoms peeks over the wall."

Entering the house, he saw it brightly lit.
Tanchun, Daiyu, Yingchun, Baochai, and others had also come there,
partly to appreciate poetry and partly to meet.
When they began to reminisce about their ages, apart from Li Wan, who was the oldest, the rest were all only seventeen or eighteen. Most were born in the same year but born in different months, and even they themselves couldn't remember who was older or younger; they simply addressed each other as "sister," "younger sister," "brother," and "younger brother," using these four words interchangeably.

Upon entering the room, after some polite exchanges, everyone sat down, and Li Wan set a topic and set a rhyme.

Xue Pan's concubine, Xiangling, stepped forward, poured tea, and led the old women and maids to sweep the courtyard, wipe the tables and chairs, and prepare tea and wine utensils.

It turned out that Li Wan had been widowed for many years, and her maids who had accompanied her had long been dismissed.
Managing the poetry club and hosting the event was not the same as before, and she usually didn't concern herself with worldly affairs, so she was worried about the lack of manpower.
Xiangling was diligently studying poetry, focusing her energy and spirit, and dared not entice Baochai too much. She also wanted to stay away from Xue Pan, who only knew how to cockfight, ride horses, and seek pleasure with women. Recently, she had been helping out at Li Ren's place, happily learning poetry nearby, which was convenient for both of them.

Li Wan said, "I'll set the topic. Yingchun will be given the rhyme, and Xichun will supervise.
I just saw them bring in two pots of white crabapple blossoms; they're quite nice. Why don't you all compose poems about them?" With that, Yingchun and the others followed her instructions and set the topic.

The attendants prepared four sheets of paper and pens, and everyone quietly began to ponder.

Only Daiyu either stroked the paulownia tree, admired the scenery, or joked with the maids.
Yingchun then ordered a maid to light a stick of sweet incense.
This sweet incense was only about three inches long, as thick as a lamp wick, and because it burned out easily, this was the time limit; if the incense didn't burn out completely, there would be a penalty. Tanchun

quickly came up with an idea, wrote it down herself, revised it, and handed it to Yingchun.
Baoyu asked Baochai,
"Hengwu-jun, have you finished?" Baochai replied, "Yes, I have, but it's not good.
" Baoyu was so anxious that he scratched his head and paced back and forth in the corridor with his hands behind his back. He then said to Daiyu, "You hear they've all finished.
" Daiyu said, "Don't worry about me.
" Baoyu then saw that Baochai had already copied it down and said, "Oh no, the incense is almost finished! I've only written two lines.
" He then said to Daiyu, "The incense is almost gone, what are you doing squatting there in the damp place?" Daiyu ignored him.

Baoyu said, "I can't worry about you anymore. Forget about it, I'll just scribble a few lines down first.
" Saying this, he walked to the table and wrote: "Autumn colors pale against the heavy doors, seven sections gathered into a basin of snow.
Yang Guifei emerges from her bath, her shadow like ice, holding her heart... How can jade be her soul?
" After saying this line, he fell silent.

Baochai glanced at him and, taking advantage of the crowd's silence, nudged him, saying, "There are many beautiful stories and allusions here, and you call yourself a heroine among women!
" Baoyu, seeing Baochai's words, wiped his sweat and said, "I can't recall any of the allusions right now!" Baochai quietly clicked her tongue and nodded, laughing, "Well, you're nothing special today. When you face the imperial examinations in the future, you'll probably forget even the basics of 'Zhao, Qian, Sun, Li'! Haven't you heard Su Shi's poem: 'To compare West Lake to Xi Shi…'" Baoyu, hearing this, understood her meaning and laughed, "Damn it, damn it! I couldn't even think of a phrase right in front of me.

Sister, you're truly my 'one-word teacher'! From now on, I'll only call you 'teacher,' and never 'sister' again."
Baochai chuckled quietly, "Hurry up and sit down! You're calling her 'sister' all the time! Who's your sister?" Li Wan, seeing the two whispering amongst themselves, found their behavior suspicious and said, "Make it clear to everyone in the poetry club that there are rules for every organization.
No favoritism or cheating is allowed.
Anyone who disobeys will be expelled and punished on the spot! I, the head of the club, will not tolerate it.
" She tapped her slender fingers on Baoyu's desk.

Everyone agreed, "That makes sense.
"
Baochai, helpless and unwilling to secretly help, and fearing she would waste time, excused herself and left.

Hearing this, Baoyu, unable to do anything, could only gather his thoughts and ponder deeply.
But he had no ideas and could only watch helplessly as Li Wan gracefully moved her lotus-like steps, pacing back and forth beside him.

Thinking to myself, Li Wan has been widowed for many years. She is usually virtuous and gentle in nature, speaks softly, and doesn't concern herself with anything. She is known as a great bodhisattva, the first person of virtue.
She only knows how to be pure and chaste, and doesn't know anything about matters when asked, nor does she care about them when asked.
She doesn't want to be a leader, yet she speaks frankly and is clear about everything. It's as if she has become a different person.

It turns out that Li Wan was the wife of Jia Zhu, Bao Yu's deceased elder brother, and had a son named Jia Lan.
She came from a prominent family in Jinling; her father, Li Shouzhong, had served as the Chancellor of the Imperial Academy. Every man and woman in her clan was literate and educated.
Since Li Shouzhong's time, the saying "a woman's virtue lies in her lack of talent" had been upheld. Therefore, when Li Wan was born, she wasn't encouraged to study much. She was only given a few books, such as the *Four Books for Women*, *Biographies of Exemplary Women*, and *Collection of Virtuous Women*, to help her recognize a few characters and remember a few virtuous women from the previous dynasty. Her primary focus was on spinning and weaving, hence the name Li Wan, with the courtesy name Gongcai (Palace Weaving).
Thus, although Li Wan was widowed young and lived amidst luxury, she was like a withered tree, oblivious to everything. At home, she only knew how to serve her parents and raise her son; outside, she accompanied her sisters-in-law in needlework and poetry recitation.

Lately, Baoyu had been playing outside and had gradually neglected his studies. He had no interest in poetry or literature, his mind wandering to Tai Chi, constantly glancing at his widowed sister-in-law, Li Wan, who was quite different from usual. She had

slightly flushed cheeks, alluring almond eyes, a full and graceful figure as she moved, and a sweet, melodious voice as she spoke. Her
languid, languid figure was unlike the delicate, willow-like beauty of Daiyu, or the voluptuous charm of Baochai.

Baoyu was so captivated by her that he dropped his brush.
When he picked it up, he was overcome with lust and pinched the toe of Li Wan's embroidered shoe.

Li Wan, thinking her brother-in-law was being mischievous, stepped aside, glanced at his hand with her phoenix eyes, and chuckled softly, "Why are you so noisy!" She then nudged Baoyu, urging, "We need to read the poems.
If you don't hand them in after you've finished, you'll be punished.
" Yet, her cheeks remained flushed, and her almond eyes shone with desire.

The two were flirting and playing in secret, unnoticed by the others. However, Xiangling, the maid, had observed everything closely.
She thought to herself, "Li Wan is usually so discreet in front of everyone, who would have thought she's secretly having an affair with this Master Bao?
" Baoyu, who usually couldn't stand women's affected mannerisms, was immediately agitated. His face flushed, and he smacked his lips, saying, "Although Old Farmer Daoxiang isn't good at writing, he's good at observing, and his judgment is the fairest.
We all agree with your assessment.
" Everyone nodded, then they looked at Tanchun's draft, which read: "Jade's spirit is unparalleled in its purity, snow's skin and bones easily captivate the soul.
" Everyone praised it, then looked at Baochai's: "Only in extreme simplicity can one know the flower's true beauty, how can jade be without flaws when sorrow is abundant?" Li Wan laughed, "Truly, it's Hengwu Jun!" Everyone read it, and Baoyu said Tanchun's was better.
Li Wan finally urged Baochai,
saying, "This poem is fitting." She then urged Daiyu.

Daiyu asked, "Have you all finished?" With that, she picked up her brush and wrote in one stroke, tossing it to everyone.
Li Wan and the others looked at what she had written: "Stealing three parts whiteness from the pear blossom, borrowing a wisp of soul from the plum blossom.
" Upon seeing this line, Baoyu was the first to applaud, saying, "Where did you come up with that!" Everyone read it and said, "This one is the best.
" Li Wan said, "If we're talking about elegance and uniqueness, this one is superior; if we're talking about subtlety and depth, Heng's draft is the best."
Baoyu laughed again, "This is the fairest assessment.
However, Heng and Xiao's two poems still need further consideration.
" Li Wan said, "This is my assessment, it has nothing to do with you. Anyone who says anything more will be punished.
" Hearing this, Baoyu had no choice but to drop the subject.

At this moment, Daiyu, seeing Baoyu struggling so much with his composition, felt unhappy.
She went to the table and learned that Baoyu was struggling with the last four lines, having no words for them.
Taking advantage of Li Wan's inattention, he composed a poem himself, wrote it on a slip of paper, rolled it into a ball, and tossed it to Baoyu.

Baoyu opened it and felt it was ten times better than his half-poem, so he quickly copied it into neat regular script and presented it to her.

Unexpectedly, Li Wan was using a feigned indifference tactic and was already on guard, catching him red-handed.
She snatched the scroll from Baoyu, threw it in his face, and laughed, "Young Master Yihong, how can you repeatedly violate the rules of our society ?

Since ancient times, the law should not be biased, nor should it be applied differently to internal and external affairs.
Our society's rules will not be abolished because of you! How should you be punished?" Baoyu was embarrassed and speechless, only able to laugh and say, "You deserve punishment, you deserve punishment!" He picked up a cup of wine, drank it all in one gulp, but choked and coughed, which made everyone laugh, and the maids on both sides also smiled.

Tan Chun was the instigator, but unexpectedly, the one to be punished was her elder brother, Bao Yu. She dared not plead for Bao Yu and could only remain silent . She then rose to take her leave and went to Grandmother Jia's place.
Bao Chai and Dai Yu, being accomplices,
dared not speak out for Bao Yu. Ying Chun and Xi Chun, being law enforcers, dared not show favoritism and remained silent.

After a little wine and fruit, everyone made excuses to disperse; some went home, others went to Lady Wang's.

Poor Bao Yu, who had been a confidante all this time, was now all alone after being punished. The room was quiet for a
moment
, with only Li Wan, Bao Yu, and Xiang Ling remaining.
Li Wan glanced at Xiang Ling and said,
"Bring Second Master a cup of tea.
" Xiang Ling understood and went out of the room.

Seeing Bao Yu's face flush and pale, and his dazed and simple-minded appearance, Li Wan chuckled inwardly. She pinched Bao Yu's cheek, looking at him with a half-smile, and said, "Bah! You were so bold and outrageous in front of everyone!
Now you're acting all cowardly? Turns out you're all show and no substance, just a silver-plated spearhead! Don't worry, I won't beat you with my father's rod, nor will I throw you in a frying pan!" Her words were unintentional, but the listener took them to heart.
The phrase "Turns out you're all show and no substance, just a silver-plated spearhead!" has a source.
In the second act of the fourth book of *The Romance of the Western Chamber*, Hong Niang mocks Zhang Sheng for "taking" Ying Ying but then becoming afraid.
Could it be that this widowed sister-in-law is also mocking him, using a provocation rather than a direct confrontation, and that tonight in this rice flower village, he'll have "li-ye-bo-li-ye-luo" with her?
Baoyu's mind was filled with chaotic thoughts, his thoughts wandering aimlessly. He hummed a line from a play: "You're all lovemaking in your embroidered chamber, engaging in all sorts of intimate acts.
I've coughed lightly outside the window, my embroidered shoes chilled to the bone by the cold moss.
Today, your tender skin is being whipped by a rough rod. Sister, what's the reason for my overly solicitous behavior?" Li Wan blushed, scoffed, and spat at Baoyu: "Shameless scoundrel! What
kind of lewd play is this? I'm not going to stoop to your level.
I'll go to the restroom and settle things with you later.
You should finish your homework. If you do anything wrong again—if I find out, I'll break your legs when I get back!" Baoyu hurriedly replied with several "yes," but then pretended to exclaim, "How dare I! How dare I!" He sat there anxiously for a while, then heard a soft pattering sound coming from the inner room. Unable to contain himself, he quietly entered the bedroom.
Just then, Li Wan was relieving herself in the chamber pot when she saw Baoyu peek in. Startled, she exclaimed "Eek!" and quickly covered her pinkish-white bottom with her skirt, shifting her body as if trying to hide.

Baoyu grinned and said, "Sister-in-law, you're relieving yourself!" He then pulled a piece of toilet paper from his sleeve, handed it to her with both hands, and said, "This can serve as a draft of my poem. I present it to you so that Master Daoxiang Village can review it!" This amused and angered Li Wan, who slapped the toilet paper away, saying, "Second Uncle, what a scoundrel! What kind of behavior is this? Get out!" Baoyu chuckled and said, "We are family, brother and sister-in-law. What's the big deal? Haven't you heard the sage say, 'It is only natural to offer a hand to a sister-in-law who is urinating'?" He then bent down and picked up the toilet paper.

Li Wan scolded, "You rascal, you smooth-talking master! You didn't fall into a well, you fell into a chamber pot!" Bao Yu, hearing this, became excited, put his arm around Li Wan, and laughed, "As the saying goes, when a sister-in-law sweeps up the messy firewood, she calls her uncle to tie it up; when an aunt moves a broken bucket, she calls her uncle to fix it.
A younger brother helps his sister-in-law; we're family, so we don't talk like outsiders."
As he spoke, he leaned forward and kissed Li Wan on the lips, his hands reaching towards her slender waist and white buttocks, caressing and groping her.

Li Wan was overwhelmed with shyness, hurriedly trying to cover herself, but she was stuck in the chamber pot and couldn't get up. She angrily said,
"Second Uncle, don't be rude! How shameful it would be if someone saw us, an uncle and sister-in-law pulling like this! Let go!" Taking advantage of the moment, Baoyu slipped his hand into the woman's underpants, poking a finger into her vulva. There was already some semen flowing out. He laughed and said,
"It's so plump and tight.
" Li Wan quickly grabbed her skirt and pushed him away, saying, "You wicked beast, if you talk nonsense again, I'll hit you! Go away! Go away now!" Seeing Li Wan's face full of anger and shame, Baoyu forced a smile and said, "Yes, I'll go.
" He still handed the toilet paper to Li Wan.

When he looked back, Li Wan didn't look angry, but just watched him leave.

Meanwhile, Li Wan, having finished relieving herself in the inner room, hurriedly wiped herself, lifted her skirt, and tidied her hair, looking rather disheveled. She thought bitterly, "That wretched little brat Baoyu, relying on the old lady's doting and the madam's protection, has become so spoiled and lazy.
His mischievous antics are tolerable when he's causing trouble among the young ladies and maids, but today he's so ungrateful, taking advantage of my kindness and even using them on his elder sister-in-law.
If I don't discipline and restrain him now, he'll only grow up to be a frivolous and dissolute young man, addicted to wine and women!" Having made up her mind, she walked out with a stern face and saw Baoyu still sitting calmly in his chair, sipping his tea as if nothing had happened.
She suppressed her temper, stepped forward, pinched Baoyu's face, and spat, "You little devil! How dare you act so violently and domineeringly! Wait till I tell Madam, and see if I don't beat you!" Baoyu, terrified, quickly begged, "Good sister-in-law, I won't dare do it again. Please punish me as you see fit.
" Li Wan scoffed, "Oh dear! Second Uncle can change his ways.
Uncle, don't be angry with my blunt words. I'm just afraid you're like a gourd with its mouth sawed off, only good at being obsequious, and one day you'll go to a young lady's house and do some shameless, lawless, and dirty things again.
" Baoyu smiled obsequiously, "How could I be angry? I'd only disappoint you! Sister-in-law, even if you slap me a few times, I won't be angry.
" He then turned his face and said, "Sister-in-law, try hitting me.
" Li Wan laughed, "I have hands, but I won't hit your drooling face. I'm talking to you seriously."
Li Wan turned her head slightly and smiled, "Since things have come to this, why dwell on the past?
Since it's like this, I'm too embarrassed to tell anyone.
But you can atone for your mistake sooner or later.
I'm not good at poetry, so I'll just start with a little inspiration. If you can match it, it means you haven't neglected your studies, and it's a way of making amends for your mistake.
Otherwise, you'll be punished for both." It turned out that Li Wan had heard Jia Dairu, the head tutor of the Jia family, praise him for having some unusual talents despite his dislike of studying, and wanted to test him.

Baoyu, like a nun selling her testicles, was eager to oblige and happily agreed with a "Yes."

Li Wan then wrote:
"Peach and plum blossoms bear fruit in the spring breeze, duckweed floats in the rice paddy village.

The dream of love is broken, youthful years have passed, crows sigh in the twilight.

To whom can I confide in the night rain on the paulownia tree? How can I bear to lift the embroidered curtains and mandarin duck quilt?
Endless longing forces me to pity myself, how many times have I silently leaned against the railing?

The autumn sounds brush my pillow, the night is cold, I am ashamed to play the lonely phoenix under the moon.

My heart remains steadfast, like ice, a virtuous woman hoping her son will become a dragon.
"
It turns out that Li Wan observed that those high-ranking officials and prominent figures, those who spoke of loyalty and filial piety, or wrote books and established doctrines, all had their own path of establishing virtue and words, so as not to have lived in vain in this enlightened age, nor to have failed the nurturing and teachings of her father and teachers.
The poem expresses both her ambition to uphold chastity and raise her son to be a dragon, and also serves as a word of advice to Baoyu to study officialdom and economics, so that he may become an official and achieve fame in the future.

Baoyu chuckled inwardly, thinking to himself: Men and women in this mortal world toil daily, burdened by worries and anxieties. Only sexual intercourse, the union of yin and yang, is truly real and proper.
Li Wan is in the prime of her youth, yet she is so pedantic and unbearable, clinging to empty illusions, needlessly forsaking the joys of love and intimacy.
Cold pillows and cold quilts, the setting sun and lonely wild geese—even if her son becomes a high-ranking official, in the end she will only be a wretched, pale-faced woman, nearing the Yellow Springs, leaving behind only a hollow reputation for posterity to admire. What good is that?
Well, she is her own sister-in-law; he should try to persuade her.
Suppressing a laugh, she casually recited:
"The moon sets over the peach blossoms in the west wing, how many paths will it lead Zhang Sheng?

The uncle listens to the spring rain all night, tomorrow the sister-in-law will plant apricot blossoms.

A faint lamp reflects finger marks, she undresses shyly and swallows them with her uncle.

If the spring breeze were to favor a scholar, even an ancient well could ripple with clear waves .

The uncle's penis breaks through the sister-in-law's vulva, softly singing the true taste.

Even ants know the beauty of spring, dragging apricot petals up the pink wall.
"
Li Wan, upon hearing this, blushed deeply and remained silent for a long time.

She thought to herself that she, a widow who had always been chaste and uncontested,
had raised her son well. Baoyu was unruly, and she had a responsibility to guide him, but instead, he had teased her with his words.
Baoyu's words were originally meant to evade her, shameless yet reasonable, rogue yet affectionate, sounding both logical and persuasive, quite comforting.
She couldn't help but feel dizzy, her legs weak and her feet numb.

The candlelight illuminated the widow, her figure plump, her face almond-shaped and
cheeks peach-like. Baoyu stared, his eyes glued to her, his
manhood stirring within him, hard and hot. He noticed the woman's breasts, protruding like a pair of jade peaks.
Suddenly, he mustered his courage and stepped forward, reaching out to touch them. They were soft and firm, bouncy and warm to the touch.

Seeing Li Wan raise her hand to strike him, Baoyu
quickly dodged aside, only laughing. His expression changed, and he grabbed Li Wan, twisting her like a taffy, his courage surging as he slipped his hand inside the woman's undergarment, touching her two soft breasts. They felt warm and smooth like oil, truly like: soft, warm, freshly peeled chicken head meat, smooth and lustrous, like freshly congealed butter.

Li Wan was greatly embarrassed and caught off guard. She raised her hand and slapped him across the face, her expression turning sour as she angrily said, "Shameless act! An elder sister-in-law is like a mother to you, how dare you be so presumptuous! The bond between uncle and sister-in-law arises from affection but is restrained by propriety! I am a virtuous woman, and you are not a dissolute son.
How can you disregard propriety and defile human relations?
" Bao Yu, in the midst of his infatuation, was startled
back to reality by the slap. Having been raised like a precious jewel by his parents' side, he had never heard such a tone before. Seeing Li Wan's eloquent and righteous rebuke, he knew he was in the wrong. Although he pleaded several times, he could not force her.

He thought to himself, "Since receiving the teachings of the Fairy Disenchantment, I have never suffered such a setback with any beautiful woman."
Helpless and dejected, he slumped back into his chair, filled with shame, his face flushing red and then pale.

Li Wan, ultimately kind-hearted, thought that although Bao Yu was young and impetuous, his grandmother and madam loved him dearly and rarely punished him.
In her haste, she had slapped and cursed, which was excessive. After a moment of calm, she pondered for a while and said softly, "Good brother, let's not tell anyone about what happened today, and I won't blame you.
If you're willing, I need to ask you for a favor.
" Seeing that Li Wan's anger had subsided and her heart had warmed, Baoyu exclaimed in surprise and delight, "Sister-in-law, how could you be so cruel? How could you say such a thing to your own brother?
If you need anything, I'd go through fire and water!" Li Wan couldn't contain herself and laughed, "You rascal, here we go again.
Legally, you should have been given a beating! But considering this is your first offense, I'll forgive you for now.
" She continued, "Now that winter has passed and spring has come, I've found the red plum blossoms at the Green Bamboo Hermitage interesting, and I want to pick a branch to put in a vase.
But I dislike Miaoyu's character, so I'm ignoring her. Now, I'm punishing you to go and fetch a branch when you have time."

"But I'll hold it against you again!"
It turned out that Li Wan had always disliked Miaoyu's neither-monastic-nor-secular behavior. Seeing her feigned seriousness, yet beaming with joy when she saw Baoyu, she secretly felt a pang of jealousy.

Baoyu, however, thought this punishment was both elegant and amusing, and was happy to accept it, so he said, "I deserve it.
" He then took his leave.

Li Wan, not wanting to see him off, asked Xiangling to escort him out.
She closed the courtyard gate, secretly shedding tears and sighing.
But that's another story.
Xiangling, the fourth sister
, said that Baoyu left the garden gate dejectedly, thinking to himself, "Alas! This Li Wan is so voluptuous, her breasts so alluring, how can I bear to leave her? She seems to have feelings for me too, yet she's determined to remain chaste.
When will I finally get my way, to have sex with her once? I'd die happy! From now on, I'll be consumed by longing for her!" Baoyu and Xiangling then walked over and saw a very exquisite pavilion.
The night breeze brushed against his face, and Baoyu felt utterly disheartened. The good things were destined to be unfulfilled, and the joy of his dream was thwarted.
He sighed deeply and recited, "Life is often unsatisfactory, eight or nine out of ten times.
" Just then, Xiangling smiled and said, "Though Madam's words may be harsh, her heart truly loves you. I think this matter is already eight or nine out of ten resolved, so why is Second Master so anxious?
But tonight, Madam, for some reason, I will find out later, and perhaps it will fulfill Second Master's wish.
" Baoyu felt as if he were hearing celestial Buddhist music, and his heart was filled with endless chanting.

Xiangling, with a half-smile and a half-anger, scolded, "You greedy little devil! How can you be so ungrateful!
You couldn't steal your sister-in-law, and now you want to bully your cousin's maid!
" She had intended to refuse, but this teasing had ignited her desire, leaving her limp and weak.
Her face flushed red, and she said, "Second Master, if Madam Zhu can chase you away, why can't I? Hurry up and leave!" She pushed and shoved Baoyu, letting him do as he pleased.

Baoyu casually plucked a sprig of chrysanthemum that was tucked diagonally into Xiangling's hair and laughed, "You have a sprig of chrysanthemum, and I have a sprig of water chestnut with two stems.
" As he spoke, he actually took a sprig of water chestnut with two stems from his bosom and then picked up the chrysanthemum.

Xiangling heard this and it struck a chord with her. She lowered her head and said shyly, "What do you mean by 'husband and wife' or 'two stems'? No wonder everyone says you're always sneaking around and making people cringe!" Baoyu laughed, "You shameless little vixen, we were born to be together.
Who told you to stick your head into the tiger's mouth? Don't blame me.
" He then began to undress.

Xiangling: "You wicked little devil! You're a wanton Baoyu, and I'm a good girl. Who would want to be paired with a heartless wretch like you!" She tried to stop him, but to no avail. She tried to cover herself, but after a while, her belt was loosened, revealing her fair and tender thighs.
Baoyu reached into her underpants and touched and stroked her vulva, finding it plump, tender, and soft.

Baoyu pleaded, "Now that you're offering help, please do me a favor!
I've already lost one thing, but I hope you can gain another.
This is a golden opportunity. Please, dear sister, help me out. Let's do a substitution.
" Before he knew it, his manhood was about to burst forth, so he freed his hands and began to roam over Xiangling's entire body.

Xiangling, blushing with embarrassment, said, "Second Master, how can you be so rude? What if someone sees us?" She struggled a few times, feeling a tingling sensation all over her body, but dared not cry out. Moreover, a hard object pressed against her plump buttocks through her skirt; it must be his manhood, and she couldn't describe the feeling.

Baoyu used gentle methods, coaxing, "Xiangling, you're so good. If you please me, you can have anything you want.
" He then sucked on her lips and caressed her breasts.

Seeing Baoyu's eagerness, Xiangling secretly found it amusing; hearing the tenderness in his words, she felt a stirring of affection. She thought to herself, "All men in the world are so lustful and greedy. I might as well indulge his refined taste today.
If I don't comply, not only will there be no result, but I'll end up like Li Wan, bearing only empty fame!" Thinking this, her cheeks flushed red, and she smiled slightly, nodding her head.

At this moment, seeing Xiangling completely flustered, Baoyu was overjoyed. He led her to a pavilion chair, where she half-removed her silk skirt and lay down.

Baoyu caressed the beautiful woman for a while, then parted her legs. Between her thighs, it was soft as cotton, white as jade, plump and tender.

Examining the cleft closely, it resembled a cherry blossom opening, red inside and white outside, utterly adorable.

Baoyu thought to himself: 'This is such a fine vulva, and that fool Xue is wasting it, still wanting to fool around outside! It's truly an outrage against heaven!' He stuck out his tongue and quickly sucked on her vulva, then gently bit her clitoris with his teeth, rubbing and pulling, making Xiangling unbearably itchy. She pleaded in a coquettish voice, "How can you be so shameful, Second Master? You're just putting on an act outside, why don't you give me pleasure!" Baoyu sighed and said, "My goodness, Miss is also going to keep a lover, she must be too eager.
It's already come to this, it's a pity that my years of chastity will be lost today in Miss's love cave!" He stroked his whisk once.
His manhood immediately became erect, veins bulging, throbbing, quite frightening.

Before Xiangling could even curse "You scoundrel!", Baoyu had already positioned his manhood against her vulva, and taking advantage of the wetness, he unknowingly thrust in more than an inch.

It turned out that Xiangling was not a virgin, and she had long desired Baoyu.
Just now, seeing Baoyu flirting and kissing Li Wan, she was already aroused.
Now, with a little teasing, her desire was even more intense
, and her juices flowed freely. Baoyu's manhood was also hard, and when it was wet, it was easy to penetrate, so he entered without restraint.

Baoyu's attempt to get intimate with Li Wan tonight had been unsuccessful, and now his lust was even more frenzied. He felt his glans being tightly wrapped by Xiangling's vulva, and his whole body felt open, allowing him to move in and out at will.

In an instant, Xiangling's lust was aroused, and she cried out in a sweet voice, "My dear second master, you really know how to do it, crush my flower heart.
" She hooked her legs around Baoyu's waist, twisted her body, her breasts bouncing and rubbing against him, and raised her buttocks to meet him. Before she knew it, she had already released her yin essence.

Seeing her excessive lewdness, Baoyu thought to himself, "How laughable that this woman is so quiet and demure during the day, but when she starts fucking, she doesn't care about manners or womanly virtues. As long as she's happy, she's so unrestrained and just wants to have her fill!" Immediately, he picked Xiangling up, placed her on the drunken chair in the pavilion, spread her legs, and thrust his wicked root into her vulva. He began a frenzied pounding, relentlessly pushing and thrusting, penetrating her repeatedly for over a hundred strokes, making Xiangling feel like she was dying and coming back to life.

Baoyu gradually felt a sharp contraction in his lower abdomen and a tingling sensation at the base of his penis. He exclaimed, "Good heavens! My semen is coming!" With a final, vigorous thrust, his thighs trembled, and his wicked root hardened, releasing a stream of semen into Xiangling's vulva.
This caused Xiangling to cry out repeatedly, her juices flowing freely. Her vulva felt as if it were being warmed by hot water, and she felt completely relaxed. Baoyu exclaimed, "Oh dear!" and suddenly thought, "What if Xiangling gets pregnant with my child? It wouldn't be so bad for Xue Pan, but it would be disgraceful to Aunt Xue and Baochai. Truly, 'A brother's wife can be ridden, but not violated!'" He quickly withdrew his jade stem, took out a silk handkerchief, and was about to wipe the remaining fluid from Xiangling's vulva.

Xiangling understood, thinking, "People say that Baoyu is a confidant to women, and is most gentle and considerate towards them. It's truly well-deserved!" She snatched the handkerchief from Baoyu, saying, "Second Master, it's alright.
That good-for-nothing Xue Pan has no self-respect and only knows how to stray into depravity. He only loves those seductive vixen-like bewitching women, and he's happy to be with any other scoundrel, completely forgetting the women in the house.
As the saying goes, 'A mangy dog can't be helped to a wall,' he has no affection for me whatsoever! If I'm lucky enough, I'd be willing to bear Second Master's child..." Her cheeks flushed red, her breasts heaved, and her voice was as soft as a mosquito's buzz.

This Xiangling, originally named Zhen Yinglian, was the daughter of Zhen Shiyin.
At the age of five, she was kidnapped by a swindler while watching the Lantern Festival.
At twelve or thirteen, she was forcibly bought as a concubine by the philandering Xue Pan and renamed Xiangling.
In the list of beauties, Xiangling ranks first in the secondary register, ahead of Qingwen and Xiren.
Though she is beautiful and clever
, Xue Baochai is the most capricious and lustful man in the world, indulging in countless affairs with his mistresses and concubines, causing countless misfortunes.

Zhiyan Zhai comments: "Thinking carefully about Xiangling's character, her background is no less than Yingchun and Tanchun's, her beauty no less than Fengchun and Qin Hui, her elegance no less than Wanchai's, her charm no less than Xiangyu and Daiyu's, and her virtue no less than Xiren and Pingren's. It is a pity that she suffered misfortune in her childhood, her fate was unfortunate, and she became a concubine.

Truly, it can be said:
'Where can her pure heart go? Half her life's emotions are incomplete;
fortunately, she received Baoyu's favor, and her spring thoughts were stirred by someone's pity.'

Baoyu was overjoyed upon hearing this, disregarding brotherly affection, he cupped the beauty's face in his hands and reached out to ask for her saliva to moisten his mouth."
At this moment, Xiangling was completely captivated.
She parted her lips slightly and shared two mouthfuls of her sweet saliva with Baoyu, her pretty eyes half-closed. Baoyu kissed Xiangling a few times, their tongues darting out to suckle

. The two rubbed and teased each other, indulging in wanton lewdness.
After a while, Baoyu's lust intensified, and his manhood hardened. He had Xiangling straddle his waist, swallowing his penis with her vulva, and they resumed their passion.

Xiangling was thoroughly enjoying herself, her slender waist swaying gently, her body rising and falling, her
soft cries echoing. Her vaginal fluids flowed from her vulva, and her fragrant breath escaped her lips.
Baoyu held Xiangling's slender waist tightly, supporting her with all his might.
He felt her body was as smooth as mutton fat, as moist as jade, and touched her full breasts.

Xiangling cried out in a shrill, lewd voice, her words broken and fragmented: "My darling, you're going to kill me!
" Baoyu rolled over again, thrusting for a moment, and asked, "How do I compare to Master Xue?" Xiangling wrapped her arms around Baoyu's neck, whispering sweetly, "He's a rough man, not even a hundred times as good as you, Second Master.

Although we've shared a room for years, I've never experienced this kind of pleasure.
If I hadn't received such loving care from you, Second Master, I would have wasted my life.
" Baoyu loved her charm and wit, so he unleashed his skills, thrusting vigorously, deep and shallow, rubbing and polishing, making the jade-like woman moan and cry out for her parents. Her shameful parts trembled and shrank, while her lustful parts pressed against him.
Xiangling frequently spat out cloves from her mouth, feeding them to Baoyu's lips for him to suck on.
A moment later, Baoyu suddenly stopped moving, gripping Xiangling's jade-like thighs tightly, pressing his penis firmly against her vulva. A tingling, throbbing sensation

ran through his glans, and he couldn't help but release a torrent of fluid. Xiangling cried out, "My dear brother! This is so pleasurable!" The two collapsed, and the passion subsided.

They rose, looked at each other, and laughed.
Xiangling straightened her hair, then gently stroked his soft penis, saying reproachfully,
"Second Master, this thing is truly amazing, yet it makes me feel tingly and aching, just what I desire. I'm
so fortunate to have met you; how can I let you go?
Second Master, you must come again when you have time, do
n't let me only dream of you." Baoyu stroked the beauty's vulva, praising it endlessly, "My dear sister, you have such a beautiful vulva! Sister, you are so kind; perhaps you can help with this matter, Madam. I will never fail to repay Hongniang's kindness today.
" As he spoke, he sniffed Xiangling's body, finding her scent as fragrant as orchids, a tantalizing aroma.

Xiangling nestled into his arms, whispering sweetly, "Tonight, I have received your kindness tonight, Second Master. What more could I ask for?
But please don't be impatient, Second Master. Although
Madam scolded you, she seemed disappointed. I'm certain her love for you is genuine; her rejection was all pretense.
But I regret being bound by propriety and dare not throw myself into your arms.

This matter should be handled slowly; in this way, things will naturally fall into place.
"
Baoyu was overjoyed and bowed, saying, "Good sister, your help is a debt of gratitude that will last forever.
" He bowed again in thanks.

The two laughed and joked together, their passion reignited, oblivious to the chilly dew and the rustling night wind. They chatted and enjoyed themselves in the pavilion, promising to meet again the next day. That night, they returned to their chambers.

It was truly
a night of pleasure, teasing the flowers and willows, the morning dew melting the peonies;
the warbling of orioles and the lingering of bees, they nestled together, secretly plotting as the clouds came and the rain fell.

The scholar, like a peach-stealing man, succumbed to the dew, his silk handkerchief damp
with the scent of a delicate woman. Though he hadn't yet captured Yingying's heart, he'd find solace in Hongniang.

Her cloud-like hair, brimming with spring's allure, lingered in secret, her jade-like hair damp with the rain of love.

Her skirt half-undone, she peered through the delicate seams, her movements wild and unrestrained;
a single thrust into the water curtain cave, spring's beauty fading like a myriad of red blossoms.

A single act of romance found in two places, she poured out her gratitude to Hongniang.

After seeing Baoyu off, Xiangling returned to Li Wan, only to find her still sitting alone by lamplight, her brow furrowed, sipping tea listlessly. Xiangling asked, "Grandma, why aren't you resting by this lonely lamp all night?" Li Wan was startled, stunned for a moment before sighing, "The moon reflects on a thousand rivers, yet the moon is different on each.

Spring sleep is unbearable, and with nothing to do, I sip tea under the lonely moon to calm my mind.
" Xiangling smiled, "Grandma, you can't sleep all night, using tea to soothe your burning heart. Perhaps you suffer from lovesickness?" Seeing Xiangling's slightly flushed cheeks, her hesitant steps, and her ambiguous words, Li Wan was secretly astonished, thinking, "Huh! In the short
time it takes to doze off, this rascal has actually done something with Baoyu!" "I'll spit on you, you gossipy hussy... I told you to go see the master off, not to steal him! You're like a cat and mouse sleeping together, and you're still pretending nothing's wrong.
" Xiangling blushed upon hearing this and laughed, "Oh dear, I'm helping you pull the boat, and you're already making fun of me.
I'm thinking, 'Which mouse doesn't steal oil? I've even let you kiss and touch my breasts, yet you put on this act like a clay idol to fool people! What do you mean? We've always been so respectful to each other.
Now that you're saying this, no wonder everyone says you're someone I can't get close to, and I've wasted your good intentions.
'" Li Wan's cheeks were already flushed when she heard this. She wiped her face and laughed, scolding, "You little hussy, you're gossiping again! I'll tear your mouth apart tomorrow! You act like you're on the same side as him, like you've stolen from so many men! No wonder Master Xue can't do without you at home.
Fine, I'll listen to your nonsense."
Xiangling spat and said, "We were talking about serious matters with you, Madam, and you're being so deceitful, making fun of us!" Then she pulled Li Wan aside and said, "I think that even though Master Bao is so simple-minded, he's very affectionate towards you, Madam.
If you were destined to be with someone like you, I wonder how loving you would be!" Li Wan was speechless after Xiangling's words and said after a long while, "It's just that I'm useless in this life, I'm not destined to have such good fortune.
" Xiangling advised, "Madam is being stubborn. I don't think Baoyu is a heartless person, why make yourself suffer like this?
" Li Wan was silent for a long time, then sighed and said, "People aren't made of wood or stone, how could they not know feelings? I rejected Baoyu repeatedly, not just because I was ashamed, but because there's so much gossip around a widow's door, and people's words are terrifying.
I've worked hard for ten years, living a simple life, and all I have left is this heart and soul, hoping to restore the family's reputation and have my son succeed. I have no one to complain about."
Having said that, two lines of tears streamed down her face.

Xiangling, her eyes also brimming with tears, said, "Madam's chastity is truly admirable; everyone in the Jia family respects her.

But life is short, and it's even harder for a woman. If she doesn't become a virtuous woman, she'll become a woman of debauchery.
One must be neither virtuous nor debauched, for then one cannot build a memorial arch for a virtuous woman, nor can one be truly happy. Who will know?" Li Wan was as if drunk and confused, at a loss for words, and only instructed Xiangling, "Since we have spoken frankly tonight, you must not divulge any of this."
They continued their idly chatting by candlelight, each speaking for a while before stopping; no further details are needed.
In the fifth chapter, Baoyu
recounts that one afternoon, after waking from his nap, Baoyu felt quite bored and picked up a book to read. He
casually flipped through it and came across the line, "I have never seen anyone who loves virtue as much as he loves beauty," which stung him deeply.
He put down that book and picked up another, this time a Jin dynasty text.
After flipping through a few pages, he suddenly closed the book, propped his chin on his hand, and sat there lost in thought.

Xiren poured tea and, seeing his state, asked, "Why have you stopped reading?" Baoyu didn't answer, took the tea, took a sip, and put it down.
Xiren was completely bewildered and simply stood beside him, staring blankly.
Suddenly, Baoyu stood up, muttering to himself, "What a fine 'unrestrained and dissolute'!" Xiren found it amusing but dared not question him, so she advised, "If you don't like reading these books, why don't you go for a stroll in the garden? It'll save you from getting bored.
" Baoyu agreed verbally but remained lost in thought as he walked out.
Remembering the matter Li Wan had entrusted to him, he turned the corner at the foot of the mountain and smelled a cool fragrance. Looking back, he saw a dozen or so red plum blossoms, like rouge, in the Green Bamboo Hermitage near Miaoyu's place. Against the backdrop of early spring, they looked exceptionally vibrant and delightful.

Baoyu stopped and admired the painting for a while, reciting:
"The wine is not yet opened, the verses not yet composed, I seek spring and inquire about the winter, arriving at Penglai.

I knock on the Zen gate in the spring breeze, begging for exotic fragrance to enter the rhyme.

Outside the railing, a single color is exquisitely cut, the cinnabar just released, free from dust.

I do not seek the dew from the Bodhisattva's bottle, but beg for the plum blossoms outside the railing of Chang'e.
"
Then he gently knocked on the door of the Longcui Nunnery.
Miaoyu's disciple, Jingxin, came to greet him upon hearing the sound. She was about seventeen or eighteen years old, wearing a clean blue robe, with a fair face and red lips.
Upon seeing Baoyu, her face lit up with a smile, and she hurriedly stepped forward and bowed, saying:
"Please, Second Master
, have some tea in my small room." She led him into the small meditation room and brewed the tea.

Baoyu asked, "Why is Master Miao not in the nunnery?" He then stepped forward, embraced Jingxin, and kissed her.

Jingxin, who was close to Baoyu, lowered her head and smiled, saying, "Second Master, what
bad timing! Master was just invited away by Yuanyang to explain the Diamond Sutra to the Old Madam." Baoyu was disheartened and embraced Jingxin, saying, "I've been missing you all this time, but there's never been a chance.
Since this is such a golden opportunity, we mustn't miss it.
" Jingxin smiled and said, "Second Master, you mustn't do this. Master will punish you if he finds out.
" She then deliberately pushed her away.

At this moment, Baoyu was feeling restless and his desire was rising. He pressed Jingxin down onto the rattan couch and said, "I'm so thirsty, sister, please save me.
" Jingxin struggled a few times, her face flushed, but she dared not cry out.
Baoyu's heart was filled with desire, and he ripped open Jingxin's undergarment and quickly took off his own silk trousers, revealing himself naked in front of her.

Jingxin was still shy and unwilling to give in, but Baoyu held her tightly and pressed his throbbing member against her crotch.
Jingxin, overcome with desire, couldn't control herself, and her hand involuntarily loosened, allowing him to slip it off.

Baoyu looked down at her vulva, seeing her labia parted, her pubic hair sparse, and her fleshy cleft.
He then touched her penis, bringing it close to her opening, rubbing and probing it, like a dragon entering a deep abyss, sliding straight to the root, touching the heart of her flower.
Jingxin, still savoring the pleasure of being deflowered by Baoyu last time, was delighted to receive this pleasure today, with Miaoyu absent.
She no longer resisted, swaying her slender waist and arching her back, welcoming and yielding.
This aroused Baoyu to a frenzy, thrusting and pounding wildly.

After half an hour, they heard the temple bell ring, and their passion finally ended.

Baoyu took the plum blossom from Jingxin and turned back. Halfway there, he saw the little maid from Grandmother Jia's room, named Silly Sister, walking out of Rice Flower Village with a grin, holding a colorful object in her hand, looking down as she walked.

Unexpectedly, she bumped into Baoyu. Looking up, she stopped.
Baoyu said, "What new favorite thing has this silly girl gotten that she likes so much? Let me see it.
" Suddenly, she saw a colorful embroidered sachet. Instead of flowers and birds, one side depicted two naked people embracing, and the other side had some words on it.
The silly girl didn't recognize it as a spring-like object and thought to herself, "Could it be two demons fighting? It's just two people fighting, isn't it?" Unable to figure it out, she was about to show it to Baoyu when she walked back with a grin.
Hearing Baoyu's words, she laughed and said, "Second Master, you're so clever! It really is a favorite thing. Let me see it.
" With that, she handed it over.
Baoyu took it and, upon seeing it, was so frightened that he immediately clutched it tightly, asking hastily, "Where did you get this?" The simple-minded girl replied, "I was catching crickets, and I found it behind the rocks in Grandmother Zhu's courtyard.
" Baoyu said, "Don't tell anyone! This is no good thing.
I'll beat you to death too! Because you've always been a silly girl, don't mention it again.
" Upon hearing this, the simple-minded girl turned pale with fright and said, "I won't dare to do it again.
" She kowtowed and left in a daze.

Baoyu then tucked it into his sleeve.
He was very puzzled, wondering where Li Wan had gotten this thing, but without showing any emotion, he walked towards Li Wan's courtyard.

Meanwhile, Li Wan, her makeup half-removed, was chatting with Xiangling in her room when she asked, "Why hasn't the red plum blossom that Baoyu asked for been delivered? Perhaps Miaoyu is just naturally eccentric and doesn't like to talk much.
" Before she finished speaking, she was informed that Baoyu had arrived.

Upon hearing this, Xiangling happily helped Li Wan slowly walk out, adjusting her clothes gracefully. They saw Baoyu smiling as he carried in a sprig of red plum blossom.

The maids quickly took it and placed it in a vase.
As they talked, everyone admired the plum blossom.
The sprig was only about two feet tall, with a horizontal branch extending about five or six feet long. Small branches branched out, some resembling coiled dragons, others like stiff worms, some as solitary and sharp as a pen, others densely clustered like a forest. The blossoms were as vibrant as rouge, their fragrance surpassing even orchids and irises. Everyone praised it.

Li Wan gave a wink, and Xiangling understood, leading the others out.

Baoyu saw Li Wan wearing only a dark green jacket, her hair loose and flowing, revealing only a light red bodice and a glimpse of her snow-white breast. She leaned against a chaise longue, looking listless and lacking spirit. Her posture was languid, yet her gaze was captivating, possessing a unique charm that made him yearn for her.

He bowed deeply and said, "I have fulfilled my mission, sister-in-law! I wonder if I have anything to repay you with?" Seeing the woman's exposed white flesh and the faint outline of her breasts, he was aroused.
He stood up and pretended to help her, but instead grabbed her and kissed her on the lips.

Li Wan couldn't dodge in time and exclaimed, "Second Master! Why are you getting so talkative? As the saying goes, 'A lazy pig doesn't poop in its own kennel,' how can you and your sister-in-law flirt and banter like this?" Baoyu chuckled and said, "As the saying goes, 'A family doesn't speak like strangers!' Let's just break the rules!" With that, he reached for the woman's undergarment.

Seeing that these words were becoming increasingly eccentric, Li Wan said, "Second Uncle! Why are you talking so incoherently!" while forcefully pushing him away. "I am deeply moved by your affection! But my heart is ashen, and I have long since gone with your deceased elder brother.
I was hoping that Lan'er would amount to something and bring honor to your elder brother's family.
" Thinking of the past, two streams of tears couldn't help but fall down her cheeks.

It turned out that although Li Wan had met Baoyu's second uncle, he was gentle and refined, with a handsome and elegant appearance, and she had every reason to secretly admire and care for him. He resembled her deceased husband, Jia Zhu, but was even more tender and considerate.
However, she had been raised with strict discipline, and these past few days she had been thinking things over. First, she feared the gossip and worried about the power of public opinion; second, she wholeheartedly hoped that her son would become successful and did not want to cause any trouble.
In recent days, she had only dressed in simple clothes and worn simple hairpins, never leaving the house, sitting alone behind closed doors, ignoring all outside affairs, and finally gave up the idea of having an affair with Baoyu.

Upon hearing this, Baoyu felt a chill run down his spine and dared not disobey. He could only stop and sighed, "My dear sister-in-law, you are at the prime of your life, possessing such talent and beauty.
Why do you spend long nights in vain, seeking empty fame while neglecting practical matters? In the quiet of midnight, I often feel sorry for you.
" Li Ren, seeing his incoherent words, blushed with shame but forced herself to remain calm, saying, "Second Uncle, you are well-versed in the classics, have you not heard that 'of all evils
, lust is the worst'? The ancients have repeatedly said that if you don't want people to know, you must do it yourself. You will incur sin and accumulate divine retribution! If we do such shameful things, how will we face your brother in the underworld?
Second Uncle, as the eldest son of the family, you should set an example for your younger siblings. You must not succumb to lust and go astray. "
Baoyu, unable to hide his shame, dared not speak lightly of her, and said, "Sister-in-law, how can you say such things today?
How can I bear such a burden? Even the sages said that food and sex are the greatest desires of humankind.
In the past, Confucius saw Lady Nanzi of Wei Ling and was captivated by her beauty, the tinkling of her jade pendants echoing in the air.
If even a sage could be so captivated, how much more so we mere mortals?
Sister-in-law, you are so charming, how can I, your brother, be so blind?
" Having said this, he forgot himself again and stepped forward to fondle her breasts, tasting their smoothness, and whispered, "Throughout history, there have been many encounters between talented men and beautiful women, but I have never heard of anyone being punished for their lust. Why are you worrying so much
, sister-in-law? Besides, you have endured ten years of hardship, and if you knew this in the afterlife, you would be comforted.
The 'Supreme Ruler' said it well: saving people from danger is the most virtuous deed.
I think being remembered for a thousand years is not as good as enjoying this night's pleasure. Why must you be so heartbroken, sister-in-law?"
Li Wan, her face flushed with anxiety as she pushed him away, cried out, "Second Uncle, you're becoming more and more disrespectful than before!" She was now drenched in lustful fluids and in a daze, and after a long while, she managed to get up and said sternly, "Let me tell you: if it were anyone else, a rogue or scoundrel offending me like this, it would be one thing.
But you're a young master from a respectable family, studying and learning etiquette every day, yet you're even falling behind those from humble backgrounds.
" Bao Yu pleaded repeatedly, "Sister-in-law, you've been widowed for many years, why be so insistent! The empty room is so lonely, I'm bored leaning on the pillow, why suffer like this? Today the courtyard is empty, we can't miss this opportunity. Let
's embrace your beauty and enjoy endless pleasure in the bedchamber.
I'm not talented, but I wish to continue like this with my virtuous sister-in-law, without tiring of it, unaware of the approach of old age."
Li Wan, hearing Bao Yu's increasingly offensive remarks, quickly stopped him, saying, "Stop, stop! You gossipy little monkey! Stop talking such nonsense! Those who know might say it's just for fun, but those who don't, if they encounter such filthy, meddlesome people, they might make a scene in the mansion and gossip behind our backs, saying we're a bunch of scoundrels."
Hearing Li Wan's sharp and direct refusal, Baoyu was speechless and embarrassed. Knowing she was usually easygoing, he quickly forced a smile and said, "Sister-in-law, from ancient times to the present, even the Han and Tang dynasties were known for their 'dirty Tang and smelly Han,' let alone our family! Think about your whole family, which one doesn't have some scandalous affairs?
Even that powerful master over there, Uncle Lian still had an affair with that concubine! Aunt Feng is so strong-willed, yet Brother Rui still holds a grudge against her: which one of them has been hidden from me? It's a double standard.
They're allowed to secretly enjoy their illicit affairs, but we're allowed to be so 'clear and square'? We'll just have to make do.
" Baoyu continued to speak carelessly and nonsensically.
Li Wan blushed with embarrassment, spat, and scolded, "You, Second Uncle! You've lost all sense of propriety.
Everyone's a separate household, who cares about whose business? You'd better give up on this idea!" Bao Yu wanted to go back, but the secret he had been holding onto was being stirred up even more, so he simply threw a sachet out of his sleeve and said, "Look!" Li Wan quickly picked it up and saw that it was a brocade sachet with the scent of spring. She was also startled and hurriedly asked, "Second Uncle, where did you get this?" Bao Yu replied, "Where did I get it? I sit in the well every day! Luckily, I'm a careful person, so I managed to sneak a peek. Who knew you were doing the same thing as me! This kind of thing was openly displayed on the rocks in the garden in broad daylight, and it was picked up by the old lady's maid."
"It's fortunate I saw it, otherwise I would have already sent it to the old lady.
Let me ask you: where did this thing come from?" Li Wan, upon hearing this, changed color and hurriedly asked, "How did Second Uncle know it was mine?" Baoyu laughed and said, "Luckily, my silly sister is still innocent and thought it was just a toy, so she handed it to me.
My sister-in-law is young and beautiful, and she has her own private thoughts, yet she still tries to deny it to me! Fortunately, no one in the garden knows yet.
If the maids had picked it up and given it to the old lady or the madam, what would have happened? If outsiders knew, would they not care about their lives or reputation?" Thinking to himself, his usually quiet and reserved sister-in-law secretly used this thing to masturbate and relieve her desires, and his manhood grew as vibrant as a newly sprouted bamboo shoot.

Li Ren, both anxious and ashamed, immediately turned purple with embarrassment. She knelt down, tears streaming down her face, and cried out, "Second Uncle's words are indeed reasonable, and I dare not argue, but I did not obtain this thing.
There are only two of us, an orphan and a widow, and the rest are old women. What use would this be to us? Second Uncle, you only need to think carefully: this sachet is an imitation of an imperial embroidery, even the tassels are all from the market.
Today, I will tell you the truth, Second Master, it was left behind by your deceased son, that good-for-nothing scoundrel.
" Bao Yu, hearing this, found it very reasonable and thought to himself: "Why should I, a muddle-headed man, use this rubbish to trouble my widowed sister-in-law and close relative? Wouldn't that be doing the same thing as such a despicable person?" She immediately helped her up, sighing, "Get up.
I know you and your child are a widow, and it's not easy for you.
I was just saying that to provoke you, but what should we do now?" Li Wan said, "If you want me to do what you say, you only need to do three things for me!" Baoyu replied, "I would go through fire and water for my sister-in-law without hesitation.
Don't mention three things, even three hundred, I would do them!" Li Wan pointed at Baoyu and told him the three things: "Stealing from the beautiful nun to protect my sister-in-law, fulfilling my wish to defile my mother.
" What exactly were the three things Li Wan said? Let's find out in the next chapter.
The six lucky mandarin ducks,
however, said that Li Wan, tears streaming down her face, parted her red lips to reveal her
white teeth, and said, "The first matter is that it's almost the anniversary of Master Zhu's death, and I'd like to ask Miaoyu to perform a merit-making ritual for him. She's eccentric and out of touch with the times, and no one else catches her eye, so I can hardly expect her favor.
It turns out she only values my younger brother. You could try to persuade her, and perhaps by chance, she'll listen to you..." Before she finished speaking, tears were already streaming down her face.

Baoyu was stunned for a long while before replying, "Sister-in-law, you don't know, Miaoyu wasn't originally among these people. She's an unexpected person. She only sent me a letter because I'm somewhat educated. Since it
's your instruction, I'll give it a try.
" Li Wan, with tears in her eyes, continued, "The second matter is that Lan'er's tutor, Mr. Dai Ru, is usually very strict in his teaching, but he's upright yet pedantic, his scholarship is mediocre, and he doesn't teach well. I'm afraid that if Lan'er studies with him for too long, it will ruin her future studies.

I've heard that Aunt Zhao's younger brother, Mr. Zhao Jiu, is highly learned and has excellent teaching methods. I beg you to speak well of him to Aunt Zhao and ask Mr. Zhao to accept Lan'er as his disciple.
" Baoyu panicked and forced himself to say, "Sister-in-law, don't go and cause trouble.
Aunt Zhao is so petty and rude. I'm already ashamed enough as I am, why would I want to go and embarrass myself?" Li Wan said, "Stealing a donkey with a lantern—an honest person doesn't do things in secret."
" You and Aunt Zhao's affair is something we both know perfectly well.
If someone else went to see that aunt, she would put on airs and act like they were bickering, but Second Master has his own clever plan.
" Baoyu had no choice but to say, "In that case, this matter can be agreed upon by sister-in-law.
" Li Wan hesitated, then said, "This third matter is shameful to talk about, and it will trouble Second Uncle..." She stopped speaking.

Baoyu said, "We are close brothers and sisters-in-law, how can you say it's troublesome?
If it's useful, you'll know the truth when you tell me.
" Li Wan clutched her clothes, tears welling up in her eyes, and said, "Lan'er and I are an orphan and a widow. Although we are the masters, we have no one to rely on.
If Lan'er becomes successful in the future, that's fine, but if she fails the imperial examinations, my son and I..." She choked up as she spoke, and then said, "Now that Master has inherited a hereditary title, if you, brother, can give it up, in the future..." Women's tears fall easily, and two more streams fell down.

Baoyu, feeling a pang of pity, knew he wasn't greedy for money or power, so he said, "I'm fine with it, but I'm afraid Master Lian and Aunt Zhao won't agree.
" Li Wan added, "Master is a kind and honest man; he only needs to ask Madam.
" Baoyu blurted out, "I'll go ask Madam and get a written agreement from Master, so that the people in the manor won't make a fuss later!" Li Wan said, "I was just about to trouble you, Uncle, for your help.
" After drinking a few cups of tea, Li Wan rose and said, "Uncle, please sit for a moment!" She turned and went back to the inner room.

Baoyu had come full of pride, but he was met with a cold shoulder. He thought, "My sister-in-law is like a piece of fatty mutton, but unfortunately, it's too hot to handle; roses are lovely, but they have too many thorns.
" Feeling embarrassed, he immediately backed down and reluctantly left.

It was truly a case of: "The flowers fall helplessly, the swallows return as if we've met before."

Meanwhile, Baoyu had no choice but to turn back. Halfway there, he suddenly needed to urinate, so he left the path and sought out some grassy areas. He came to a large osmanthus tree behind a Xiangshan rock.
Just as he reached the rock, he heard a rustling of clothes and was quite startled.

Looking closely, he saw that it was his fourth sister, Xichun, who had suddenly needed to urinate. She was squatting down, her plump white buttocks sticking out, urinating with a hissing sound, like flying pearls and jade splashing through the moss and daylilies. Her
pear-shaped, slender waist and a tuft of pubic hair in her cleft were faintly visible.

Baoyu, seeing this, was immediately aroused. He deliberately teased, "A fine young lady like you, hiding here to urinate? Look! Your skirt is all wet; you might as well take it off!
" Xichun, startled by his appearance, quickly shook her buttocks, not even wiping herself, and pulled up her skirt and trousers, hiding behind the bushes and rocks.
Peeking out and seeing it was Baoyu, she scolded,
"You wicked second brother, always doing such petty and unreasonable things!
" But she was so ashamed that her heart pounded and her ears burned, she hesitated, wanting to go forward but then retreating.

Jia Xichun was one of the Twelve Beauties of Jinling, ranked eighth.
Her father, Jia Jing, only wanted to refine elixirs and become an immortal, and her mother had died early. Her elder brother, Jia Zhen, was lecherous and shameless, and his behavior was despicable.
Lacking love from a young age, she naturally had a peculiar, aloof, and cold personality. She usually only loved painting, playing chess, and reading Buddhist scriptures.

Xichun and Baoyu were her only close friends, having played and joked together since childhood.
Now, at the beautiful age of sixteen or seventeen, she was already quite an adult, with eyes like autumn water, a face like a peach blossom, a charming and innocent demeanor, and a graceful figure.
Her beauty was beyond description.

Baoyu, his heart pounding and his soul swaying, stepped forward, embraced her waist, and kissed her, murmuring,
"Good sister, you've grown up so beautifully.
How can you not wipe your bottom after urinating? Let your brother help you.
" His hand slipped inside Xichun's trousers, feeling the fullness and smoothness of her crotch, with sparse pubic hair.

Xichun instinctively squeezed her legs together, nestling in Baoyu's arms, her face burning hot, and cried out, "Second brother, you can't play around like this! What will others think if they see us!" She had initially thought Baoyu was just being a carefree young man, fooling around with her, but when she looked down, she realized her skirt and trousers were open.

Baoyu kissed Xichun again, then reached into her lap and began to rummage through her clothes.
Xi Chun held him down, blushing, and said,
"Second Brother! In broad daylight, how can you be so shameless! Such reckless behavior is unbecoming if someone sees us!" Bao Yu ignored her, reaching out to pull Xi Chun to his chest. He removed her bodice, revealing her two jade-like breasts, smooth as jade, their areolas as vibrant as plum blossoms.
Bao Yu fondled her breasts, smelling and sucking them.

Xi Chun, at the age when love was just beginning to blossom, was caught off guard. She struggled incessantly, feeling only languid weakness. Her cherry-like lips were held by Bao Yu, and she could only make soft "mmm" sounds as he sucked on them.
Bao Yu's manhood involuntarily stirred. He pulled at the girl's underpants, ready to make love.

Xi Chun was greatly alarmed, her face burning hot. She struggled to break free, crying out, "Second Brother, show some respect! If Madam finds out, I'll lose my life.
We siblings won't be able to stay in this mansion!" Bao Yu, unable to resist, had no choice but to let go.
Seeing that no one was around, he embraced Xi Chun and shamelessly said, "Good sister, I truly love you! I offended you just now, please forgive me this time.
From now on, whatever you want, I will obey.
" Xi Chun blushed deeply and scolded, "You, you are so shameless!" Bao Yu ignored her and cupped Xi Chun's small mouth, sucking on it thoroughly. He then slipped his hand inside her silk robe, fondling her two soft breasts, and grasped them fully before stopping.
Xi Chun, as if she had received a pardon, blushed and hurriedly broke free.

Meanwhile, although Bao Yu usually received the favor and affection of his sisters, he rarely had any real pleasure with them.
Returning home in melancholy, he was so disoriented that he forgot to stop and eat, truly "two of the three little devils are gone—utterly lost and dejected."

When Xichun returned, recalling Baoyu's earlier words and actions, she felt a sudden rush of heat to her head and a wave of drowsiness wash over her.
She quickly composed herself, first closing the door, then sitting for a while, reciting the *Vajrasekhara Sutra*.
After dinner, she lit incense, prayed to the Bodhisattva, held her breath, lowered the curtain, sat cross-legged, and focused on eliminating distracting thoughts and seeking true enlightenment.

Both of them were constantly absent-minded, lacking appetite, and in a daze. But
let's leave that aside for now.

In spring and summer, the news reached the Jia family that Lady Wang's elder brother, Prince Meng, had been promoted to Grand Secretary of the Inner Cabinet.

Grandmother Jia ordered a grand banquet for the guests. Both mansions were decorated with lanterns and colorful streamers, screens adorned with phoenixes and phoenixes, and cushions adorned with lotus flowers. The sounds of sheng, xiao, drums, and music filled the streets and alleys.

During the day, Baoyu entertained the guests and joked with Grandmother Jia.
As the guests departed in the evening, remembering the matter Li Wan had entrusted to Aunt Zhao, and yearning to rekindle their old romance, he feigned exhaustion due to the late hour and inability to drink more, insisting on returning home to rest.
He secretly instructed his servants to prepare two ends of colored satin, three gold and jade cups, two Jinhua hams, a West Lake mandarin fish, ten sheep penises, two bottles of pickled vegetables, fine fruits and sweets, and various dishes and snacks, all packed into a large box, which he quietly headed to Aunt Zhao's residence.

Grandmother Jia, worried that Baoyu had drunk too much, instructed Yuanyang to follow.

Yuanyang went straight there, and upon reaching the garden gate, she saw the side gate ajar, not yet bolted, and was secretly puzzled.
At this time, no one was coming or going in the garden, only the dim light from Aunt Zhao's room and the faint moonlight.
Yuanyang was alone, without a lantern, and her steps were light, so Baoyu did not notice her and entered the courtyard.
