"Imprisoned Love" - Postscript

This story is finally finished, and I feel relieved.
The article itself isn't very long, roughly around 60,000 words. However, the writing process was extremely difficult due to various reasons.
I started conceiving this story in 2019, and by early 2020, during the pandemic, I had basically finalized the story framework. I originally planned to begin writing in 2020 when the writing contest was cancelled due to the pandemic, thus delaying it for another year. During that year, many of my ideas changed, and much of the story underwent significant revisions. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, some originally planned plot points and explicit scenes were cut from the final version.
If this article had been published in 2020, I think readers would very likely have seen the following scrapped draft:
1. Xia Yue and Ran Chen will be raped by Brother Shui, and Xu Yuliang will be unable to rescue them in time;
2. Lin Shuang went mad with jealousy because of the rumors between her younger brother and Xia Yue, and instigated Xu Yuliang to torment Xia Yue;
3. Lin Shuang took the initiative to seek pleasure with Brother Shui;
4. Brother Shui will keep the video of Xia Yue and Ran Chen being humiliated. Lin Shuang will drug Lin Cheng and play the video in front of him, forcing him to break up with Xia Yue.
5. When Lin Cheng rejected Lin Shuang, the three words he said were not "I'm sorry," but "Are you crazy?"
6. Lin Shuang's suicide occurred before Lin Cheng graduated from high school, meaning she chose to end her life before finishing teaching this class of students, and the ending is the scene where Ran Chen looks up at the stars.
7. Shui Ge's identity was originally to be clearly explained, but in the final version of this article, it is only given some hints and not explicitly stated.
As for the final result of this year's work, it is clear that I have removed most of the dark and tragic ideas, and tried my best to write a story that is sad but still holds hope.
This article was inspired by two sources. The first is the video game Death Stranding, which deeply moved me after I finished it, especially its theme song "BBS Theme" (Lin Shuang's lullaby is adapted from this song). The second is my high school life. The descriptions of the school building structure and the custom of playing shuttlecock are based entirely on my own high school experience, without any embellishment.
During the pandemic, I had ample free time to re-examine my life experiences and the environment I lived in, gaining many new insights. Perhaps because my upbringing was too privileged, and my high school life too peaceful, I simply cannot imagine the kind of near-brothel-like schools depicted in some school-themed works, where everyone from students to the principal is driven by lust. Therefore, although I still write erotic novels, I maintain a sense of awe towards schools, constructing a friendly and vibrant student community as a way to reminisce about my high school years.
This year I graduated from university and officially entered the workforce. Like Lin Shuang, I still feel lost about the future. For over a decade, I've lacked a clear goal and haven't known what I should be pursuing. When I was conceiving this article, the first part I completed was the scene of Lin Shuang's suicide; the rest of the content is built upon this foundation. You could say that her death preceded her life.
When I reached the end and wrote about Lin Shuang's death, I suddenly felt that a part of my life had officially come to an end. As for how to proceed in the future, I was no clearer than Lin Cheng in my thoughts.
