The lotus leaves first glimpse the joy of rain and clouds.

A young lotus leaf, newly budding, experiences the joys of love

, yet the courtyard is desolate and cold. The night is filled with the sounds of the cold, the clouds are deep, and no wild geese are seen. The night deepens, all is silent, only the lamplight illuminates the wall. The

solitary lamp reflects the night's gloom. The wine has worn off, how can this long, desolate night endure? This poem, "Guanhe Ling," by the Qingzhen Hermit, describes a night deep in the stillness, where lust simmers, and men and women alike yearn for the pleasures of lovemaking. While men, after ejaculation, can still enjoy themselves for a while, and women, receiving the dew, become even more alluring, men, obsessed with the pleasures of lovemaking, will not stop even if it leads to physical exhaustion. Why? Because men are like fire, and water extinguishes much of the fire; women are like water, and fire only warms the water.

This story is set during the Jiajing era of the Ming Dynasty, a time of rampant corruption in the court. The emperor was incompetent, neglecting state affairs and indulging in wine and women. Eunuchs held power, engaging in infighting and factionalism. In a time of intrigue and backstabbing, those who were honest and upright were few and far between. The Ming Dynasty was already in decline.

Now, in Linqing Prefecture of Jingchang, Shandong, a customs office was established during the Jiajing era. Because Linqing was close to the Grand Canal, merchants from all over the country gathered there, and students from the south traveled to and from the city. The number of local scholars also increased considerably. Therefore, despite the corruption of the court, the place was quite prosperous.

Linqing originally had two cities, old and new. The old city had many scholars but few merchants, making it quite peaceful. This contrasted sharply with the new city, whose streets and alleys were filled with wealthy merchants and were extremely luxurious. While there were a few scholars, they were often intelligent and studious. However, the numerous shops and brothels, with their nightly revelry and dazzling lights, tempted talented men to seek out beautiful women.

In a T-junction of the new city lived a wealthy family. The head of the family, Wang Yuren, courtesy name Chongyi, was handsome and dignified, and married a woman named Jiang, who was exceptionally beautiful. Yu Ren loved her dearly, often saying, "I see many beautiful women in the world, but my heart is like a deep pool, unmoved. Only my wife, one glance and I cannot resist." Thus, he indulged in her day and night, eventually developing a phobia. It took three years of marriage before they had a son. Because it was the Year of the Dragon, his nickname was Yu Long.

When Yu Long turned three, Wang Yu Ren's phobia returned. Day after day, he burned paper money and took medicine, but to no avail. On the Double Ninth Festival, he fell ill again and died the next day. Because Yu Ren's grandfather and grandfather were both wealthy merchants, they had amassed a fortune. When Yu Ren came to power, his father bought him a scholar's degree, hoping he would obtain an official position to bring honor to the family

. Unexpectedly, his phobia disappeared. Jiang, with her son, lived a comfortable and secure life thanks to her accumulated wealth.

Jiang's parents were both deceased, and she had no brothers. She had a younger sister who married into the wealthy Geng family in Daqiao. After Yu Ren's death, the younger sister often visited her elder sister's house, inquiring about her well-being. Her brother-in-law, a scholar named Geng Qingshan, was a close friend of Wang Yu Ren, enjoying literary pursuits and drinking together. Therefore, he allowed his wife to help with household chores for her elder sister.

In the twelfth lunar month of the year Yu Ren died, the Geng family had a daughter, nicknamed Yi'er, also called Yunzhi. Jiang Shi remained chaste, her virtue and integrity renowned and respected by all. She had two men, one woman, and three servants, two of whom were a married couple. The male servant, Ma Jing, did chores for Jiang Shi. The female servant, Yingju, served Jiang Shi diligently. The two were very devoted to their mistresses. Another servant, Yuan'er, served Yu Long. Besides these three, there were several cooks and a doorman.

Three years passed in the blink of an eye, and Yulong was now six years old. He was sent to a tutor, Mr. Xia, who taught him to read the Three Character Classic and poems for children. After being taught only once, he could recite them fluently. Mr. Xia gave Yulong a formal name, Wang Shibin, with the courtesy name Yangwu. Yangwu went to school in the morning and returned at night. In less than three months, he had memorized the Three Character Classic and poems for children.

One day, Mr. Xia gave him a two-character couplet and asked him to match it, saying, "Juren" (举人, a successful candidate in the imperial examinations). Yangwu immediately replied, "Daoshi" (道士, a Taoist priest). The teacher was very pleased and told his mother. He then bought the Great Learning and the Doctrine of the Mean for him to read, increasing the number of lines to four each day, then five each day. By noon, he had memorized them perfectly and never forgot them again.

One day, the teacher presented him with a five-character couplet: "Only Heaven is above." Yangwu immediately replied, "No mountain can match it."

The teacher asked in surprise, "These two lines are from an ancient poem. How do you, a young student, know them?"

Yangwu replied, "I feel that if you have the first line, then the second line must be something I don't even know."

The teacher said, "In that case, you must have been a learned scholar in your previous life, reincarnated here. Study for a few more years, and you will surely be a child prodigy."

From then on, the teacher would occasionally teach him a few lines from the Great Learning. He studied for four years, finishing the Four Books and then reading some poetry. At the age of ten, his teacher taught him how to solve essay problems. Within three months, he had solved excellent problems. The teacher then taught him how to solve follow-up problems, which became even easier. Mr. Xia then taught him to write essays, and Yangwu grasped the concepts instantly. Mr. Xia was astonished, calling him a child prodigy. He then approached Mrs. Jiang, suggesting they change his teacher to avoid hindering Yangwu's bright future. Mrs. Jiang refused. Mr. Xia then went to the school and bought a collection of short essays, which he read and explained to Yangwu.

Several years passed, and Yangwu was now thirteen. He was handsome, with clear features, red lips, and white teeth; his bearing was elegant and charming—a truly lovable young man. He had begun to write essays, not only mastering the Four Books and Five Classics and explaining them clearly, but also gradually reading the classical prose of Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Ouyang Xiu, and Su Shi. His mind had become exceptionally sharp; at night, he would read until the second watch of the night before going to sleep.

Yangwu was a good student, but he had a bad habit. Even as a young child, he would become wildly excited around little girls, gesturing wildly and laughing and talking. When the neighbor's daughter came to play, he would secretly hide behind the door, and when no one was around, he would grab her, kiss her, or pull down her pants and touch her private parts. The slightly older girls, knowing shame, would let him hold them, touch them, and then run away. But if they were six or seven years old, for some reason, he would hold them tightly, touching them left and right, refusing to let go until they cried out, at which point he would release them and let the girl escape.

One day, a neighbor from the Li family came over. A thirteen-year-old girl, quite pretty and somewhat sensible, was lured by Yangwu's sweet words to his study room. As soon as they entered the room, Yangwu embraced the girl from behind, his hands roughly kneading her breasts. He felt the soft, peach-sized mounds of flesh on her upper body, adorned with two nipples the size of soybeans.

Impatient, Yangwu clamped his legs tightly around the girl's, pressing his lower abdomen against her buttocks, his penis, as thick as a pen tube, rubbing against them. He cried out, "Sister, dear sister, how about we do something?"

The girl was initially startled, but knowing his tastes, she wasn't too alarmed. Her face flushed crimson, like it had been painted with rouge. She felt his hands kneading her breasts tightly, a sharp pain shooting through her chest, as if insects were crawling into her bosom. She quickly bent over slightly, and Yangwu's penis pressed even closer. The girl refused, saying, "Don't play around." But in her heart, she thought, "I've often heard that the union of men and women is a very interesting thing, but I don't know if it's really like that."

Although her body resisted him, her legs didn't move, and her arms only supported her for a few moments before giving up. Moreover, Yang Wu was charming and handsome, and his slender body was suitable for her, so she was truly willing to submit. Yang Wu leered and said, "Sister, please save me and quench my thirst for this moment."

The girl said, "Brother, I'm still a girl, how would I know about that? Brother, please let me go."

Yang Wu was unwilling to let go and pulled her tighter, saying, "I'm also a boy, it's perfect for a boy to be with a boy. You don't know, and I don't know either, it won't hurt to try it out."

The girl lowered her head, and her mouth made a delicate, soft moaning sound. Seeing that she had no intention of objecting, Yang Wu pulled her onto the bed, untied her belt, and pulled down her pants. Yang Wu was overjoyed and saw that her small lips between her thighs were white and tender. Her lower abdomen was slightly swollen, with a few white downy hairs growing on it. In the middle of the swollen area, there was a thin slit, and the two lips were as tender and thin as sea petals, pink on the inside, opening and closing like a baby crying for milk.
