Delicate and graceful, with willow-leaf eyebrows, almond eyes, cherry lips, and tiny feet, barely three inches long, she was so beautiful that even the most skilled painter could not capture her beauty. He then instructed his servant Cai Bao to bring in wine and food, and the two sat down opposite each other. They drank until dusk, had dinner, and then Bai Chang took his leave and went home.
The next day, he chose an auspicious day and time, packed his luggage neatly, and was about to set off. Meiniang immediately told her maid Hongmei to go to the kitchen to prepare fine wine and delicacies to bid farewell to her husband. Hongmei dared not disobey, went to the kitchen, sharpened her cleaver, and with a clatter, prepared the delicacies. She also warmed two pots of wine, which were placed on a gold-lacquered tray in the main room and set on the table. Meiniang poured three full cups and personally handed them to her husband, instructing him, "My lord, please take care of yourself while you are away.
