Chapter 1: The Benefits of Rebirth
Early morning, the sky was bright. The sound of 　　'
tap-tap' filled the air as a slightly shedding, greyish-white donkey pulled a worn-out
cart along unhurriedly. The cart was loaded with various vegetables and fruits, carefully divided into four or five piles.
It was clear this donkey cart was specifically for delivering goods to different households; each pile took up considerable space, likely
intended for several restaurants. The cart wasn't perfectly clean; dust clung to both the vegetables and the cart's planks, bobbing slightly with each
step .
However, in a corner at the rear of the cart, a small pile of vegetables sat, noticeably fewer in quantity than the others,

In the late Yuan and early Ming dynasties, horses were unaffordable for ordinary people. Unless traveling long distances, a donkey
cart was already quite a luxury; many remote areas still relied on human labor.
The road was flat.
The saying goes, "To get rich, build roads first," and vice versa. The well-maintained roads here reflect the area's prosperity;
a strong economy is essential to support so many restaurants.
The driver was a middle-aged man, sitting on the left side of the cart. He looked to be in his forties, and his posture was

he hadn't carried the vegetables himself. His clothes, while not luxurious, were certainly not worn and were very clean. He looked more like someone going on a
visit than a cart driver. Had this place really become so wealthy that even a cart driver could live so
well?
Although the middle-aged man's movements were not particularly fast, his eyes were focused, subtly revealing a hint
of excitement.
With a "whoosh," the cart stopped. Before them was a two-courtyard house. The owner seemed wealthy,
