Chinese Dynasties' Beauties Series—Dong Xiaowan
Spokesperson: Passerby

Around the end of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty entered a period of turmoil. Peasant uprisings erupted within the Great Wall, and war raged
everywhere ; Qing troops outside the Great Wall were also eyeing the interior, repeatedly invading. This led to continuous warfare, bloodshed, locust plagues
, droughts, and widespread suffering.
It was at this time that a remarkable woman of her time emerged from the Qinhuai River, a place of "elegant beauty and gathering of beauties
," leaving behind a poignant tale of love and loss. She was
Dong Xiaowan ."
Dong Xiaowan, whose given name was Bai, courtesy name Qinglian, and also known as Wanjun, was one of the eight famous courtesans of the Qinhuai River—Liu Rushi, Gu Hengbo,
Ma Xianglan , Chen Yuanyuan, Guan Baimen, Bian Yujing, and Li Xiang—collectively known as the "Eight Beauties of Jinling."
Dong Xiaowan was intelligent from a young age. At eight, she studied poetry, painting, drama, and music with a group of refined scholars. By three or
four , she was well-versed in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting, and proficient in poetry and prose. Coupled with her natural talent and beautiful appearance,
by the age of fifteen, when she began her career, she was already famous throughout Qinhuai. Her residence, Diaoyu Lane, was constantly bustling with carriages and horses, her residence a bustling marketplace
, and her banquets always packed.
Although Dong Xiaowan was a courtesan, she possessed a fiery and
unyielding spirit, as pure as ice and moonlight. She felt disgust for the wealthy and powerful who indulged in lavish feasts and the dissolute young men who frequented brothels, and treated them all with cold disdain.
However, she held a completely different attitude towards the prominent figures of the "Fushe" society, who gathered in Nanjing at the time, lecturing on classics, presiding over public discussions, criticizing figures, commenting on politics, expressing their indignation at the
world's injustices, and dominating the literary scene. Dong Xiaowan often enjoyed tea and conversation with them
, discussing literature and painting, reciting poetry with warm wine, and composing lyrics and music. She was carefree and thoroughly enjoyed herself.

In the twelfth year of the Chongzhen reign (1639 AD), on the Lantern Festival,
as night fell, Nanjing was already filled with the sounds of gongs and drums, and lanterns were lit everywhere. Along the Qinhuai River, pavilions and painted towers were adorned with colorful lanterns
, vermilion railings and winding balustrades, embroidered curtains half-rolled up, and the fragrance of red sleeves wafting through the air, accompanied by music and song.
On the Qinhuai River, lantern boats and flower boats lined up one after another, the sounds of string and wind instruments surging like boiling water, the water and fire reflecting the shimmering light. Within Nanjing
city, streets and alleys, pine branches and bamboo leaves were covered with lanterns, creating a dazzling and colorful spectacle, a feast for the eyes.
Even more so were the vendors hawking their wares: shredded cabbage leaves, sliced offal, oil-fried dough sticks, plums, and hawthorns, carrying loads on shoulder poles and baskets
, weaving through the streets and alleys, their cries echoing endlessly.
Dong Xiaowan, naturally indifferent to noise and bustle, feigned illness and stayed home. Leaning against the window, gazing at the moon, she couldn't help but recite lines from
Xin Qiji 's poems. When she read, "Moths and willows, golden threads, laughter and fragrance lingering," a wave of loneliness washed over her,
and countless sorrows overwhelmed her, tears streaming down her face.
She spread a sheet of jade-leaf paper on her desk, picked up a purple bamboo brush, and
, dipping fragrant ink into a Lingyan inkstone (made of eel and phoenix), wrote a seven-character quatrain: "Fire trees and silver flowers illuminate the fifteenth night, dragons and phoenixes adorn the jade candles red; orchids sway gently in the Qinhuai
moonlight, purple mist shrouds the Zhongshan peaks. The bright mirror hangs in the sky, yet a halo remains; the fragrant orchid cannot withstand the wind; broken stems and drifting tumbleweeds have no way home;
where can one find fragrant grasses at the ends of the earth?" With
a long sigh, she had just put down her pen when her mother, Granny Chen, ran upstairs, saying that Granny Li of Meixiang Tower had invited her.
This Granny Li was none other than Li Zhenli, one of the "Two Lis of the Old Courtyard" from the old brothel on Longmen Street in Qinhuai River. Although she
came from a humble background, she was naturally generous, valued her reputation, did not care much for money, and enjoyed associating with members of the Fushe Society.
Li Xiang, one of the "Eight Wonders of Jinling" who fell in love with Hou Chaozong, was her adopted daughter.

Dong Xiaowan heard that Granny Li had invited her, and that the guests included the renowned Fushe Society leader, Master Zhang Tianru
, and a group of familiar friends, as well as her close friends such as Bian Yujing. So, she took her maid Xixi, left with a brocade zither
case , and rode away in a sedan chair.
Meixiang Tower was located on the scenic banks of the Qinhuai River, with its front door facing the street and its back hall facing the river. On the night of the Lantern Festival, the flower tower and river hall
were brightly lit and decorated. The exquisitely carved and elegantly furnished flower pavilion and river hall featured a purple stone curtain facing outwards .
In the center sat a Boshan-style incense burner, from which wisps of smoke
rose. On either side were two celadon shrimp-shaped vases, each holding a cluster of jade-flowered plum blossoms and purple-smoked peonies.
Hanging on the wall in the center of the stone curtain was a painting, "Spring River at Dawn," by the Northern Song Dynasty monk Huichong, with
an inscription : "A few branches of peach blossoms in the bamboo grove, the ducks know first when the spring river warms; the ground is covered with short reed shoots, just when the pufferfish are about to ascend."
On either side was a couplet: "Pine breeze blows peach blossom rain, bamboo rhythm accompanies orchid fragrance," written by Dong Qichang.
Zhang Tianru, Chen Dingsheng, Fang Mizhi, and Hou Chaozong were sitting in wisteria armchairs, sipping fragrant tea,
when suddenly it was announced that Dong Xiaowan had arrived. Zhang Tianru had heard of her name but never seen her. Hearing of her arrival, he watched her intently.
With a sway of the beaded curtain, a woman entered. She had a face like a peach blossom, eyes like autumn water, hair like piled clouds,
and teeth like pearls. She wore a cloak embroidered with Suzhou flowers and branches, and a silk skirt with gold-flecked pomelo silk trim. With her slender waist and graceful steps,
she approached Zhang Tianru, greeted him with a deep bow, and said, "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, sir."
Zhang Tianru replied, "I've long admired your beauty. I was passing by on my way home and was fortunate enough to see you in person.
Your reputation is truly well-deserved." Xiaowan said shyly, "I am of humble birth and have nothing to boast about. You flatter me, sir." She then greeted
the three young men one by one.
When everyone had arrived, Aunt Li quickly set out the table. Ten people sat around the table, and an ice platter was placed first. After several
rounds of drinks, hot dishes such as amber-smoked chicken, crystal white duck, butterfly sea cucumber, squirrel-shaped mandarin fish, snowflake shrimp balls, and jade fish balls were served
.
Facing a table laden with delicacies, Zhang Tianru spoke of the perilous situation
of
the nation to remember this crucial moment for the country: "You must uphold loyalty and integrity, carry on the legacy of the Donglin Party, take the nation as your responsibility, and do your utmost
to ensure your name is not disgraced after death!" He added, "Fame and fortune are the path to loyalty, while integrity is the foundation of one's character." These impassioned
words drew sighs and exclamations from everyone at the table.
Dong Xiaowan and Li Xiang, hearing their discussion of national affairs, felt an even greater admiration for the Fushe patriots.
Seeing Zhang Tianru and the others so engrossed in their worries about the country and the times, not eating or drinking, Aunt Li felt a little disappointed. She quickly
greeted them, "Master Zhang, gentlemen, today is the Lantern Festival, and it's also time to welcome Master Zhang back. Everyone should
drink to their heart's content. After all, national affairs can't be resolved in a few words. Come, come, everyone, let's drink while it's hot!"
Hou Chaozong chimed in, "A fine gathering like this is rare, let's enjoy this night to the fullest. Li Xiang, Xiao Wan,
how about you all show off your talents and have a wonderful time?" Fang Mizhi, Chen Dingsheng, and the others clapped their hands in approval.
Li Xiang, Zheng Tuoniang, Bian Yujing, Guan Baimen, and the others took turns singing several songs, including "Picking Water Chestnuts," "
Midnight Song," "Mulan's Song," and "West River Moon." When it was Dong Xiaowan's turn, she picked up her
jade pipa and, with delicate fingers, played Zhang Ruoxu's "Spring River Flower Moon Night.
" Dong Xiaowan's movements were graceful and slow, her playing like "jade fragments shattering and pearls scattering from Kunlun Mountain," like "a clear stream flowing over
a flat sandy beach," like "autumn dew dripping from lotus leaves in a moonlit pond," and like "spring rain wetting fallen flowers on a winding path." When the song ended
, the lingering melody washed away the gloom that had settled in everyone's hearts.
Xiao Wan's stunning beauty, dignified demeanor, refined speech, and skillful zither playing all left Zhang Tianru in
awe . Suddenly, he thought of someone who could perfectly complement
Dong Xiao Wan: Mao Jiang, a rising star of the Fushe Society and a romantic scholar from Jiangnan, whom he called "equally brilliant."
Mao Jiang, whose given name was Xiang and self-styled Chaomin, was from Rugao. Both his father and grandfather were successful candidates in the imperial examinations; his father was Mao Songshao, a minister of the Ming Dynasty
. Mao Jiang displayed exceptional talent from a young age. At fourteen, he was already composing poems and exchanging verses with renowned scholars from Yunjiang, such as Dong Taifu and Chen Zhengjun
. At sixteen, he became sworn brothers with prominent figures of the time, Zhang Gongliang and Chen Zeliang, in Nanjing. Mao Jiang
possessed a naturally handsome appearance, a clear and bright spirit, and was known for his loyalty, integrity, and talent.
Together with Chen Dingsheng, Fang Mizhi, and Hou Chaozong, he was known as one of the "Four Gentlemen of Jiangnan in the Fushe Society."
When Zhang Tianru proposed Mao Jiang, a perfect match for Dong Xiaowan, Chen Dingsheng, Fang Mizhi, and several others immediately
applauded. They recalled their joint petition at the Confucius Temple earlier that year (the eleventh year of the Chongzhen Emperor's reign)
, in which they angrily criticized Ruan Dacheng, a remnant of Wei Zhongxian's faction, and greatly praised Mao Jiang's vision and spirit.
Dong Xiaowan, through her interactions with members of the Fushe Society, had long heard of Mao Jiang's talent, character, and temperament.
Hearing Zhang Tianru and the others mention the matchmaking, her cheeks flushed, and her admiration deepened. Taking advantage of his drunken
state, Zhang Tianru entrusted Fang Mizhi to act as matchmaker during Mao Jiang's examination visit, hoping to bring them together.
Since hosting Zhang Tianru at Meixiang Tower, Dong Xiaowan had visited the tower twice—once at the Flower Festival and again at the Shangyi Festival—
to see Aunt Li and Li Xiang, using the guise of presenting gifts to inquire about Mao Jiang's arrival in Nanjing. Li Da Niang and her daughter,
fully aware of Dong Xiaowan's ulterior motives, meticulously
described Mao Jiang's family background, character, and talents to the best of their knowledge, and also told Dong Xiaowan about his arrival in Nanjing. Upon hearing this, Dong Xiaowan was secretly delighted, certain that
Mao Jiang was the one for her in this life.

Mao Jiang received a letter from Chen Dingsheng and arrived in Nanjing on March 12th, staying at the Chen residence near Lianhua Bridge.
The two confided their long-awaited separation and discussed matters related to the Fushe Society. On March 14th, he, Chen Dingsheng, Fang Mizhi, and others entered the examination hall
. After the three examinations, it was March 24th. After the examinations, Mao Jiang arranged with Chen Dingsheng, Fang Mizhi, and others to have a drink at Li Xiang's place
the next day .
That morning, after bathing and changing, Mao Jiang strolled along the Qinhuai River towards Meixiang Tower. A year had passed, and
the banks of the Qinhuai River seemed even more bustling and vibrant than before. Mao Jiang strolled along, eventually arriving at Meixiang Tower,
where Fang Mizhi and Chen Dingsheng were already waiting. Upon seeing the guests arrive, Li Xiang immediately laid out a feast, pouring the four gentlemen jade-pot chilled wine—partly to
express her appreciation for their hard work during the examinations, and partly to wish them success in their exams.
During the meal, the topic of the Lantern Festival banquet hosted by Zhang Tianru came up, and everyone praised and discussed Dong Xiaowan
. Mao Jiang said, "Dong Xiaowan is truly 'beautiful and charming!'"
Fang Mizhi said, "A woman of such talent and ability!"
Chen Dingsheng added, "Dong Xiaowan's speech is extraordinary, her demeanor dignified; she is universally loved." They also mentioned
Zhang Tianru's efforts to arrange a marriage, and Mao Jiang suddenly felt a strong urge to marry her. Seeing that Young Master Mao was showing his admiration for Dong Xiaowan, Li Xiang
asked Fang Mizhi to accompany her to Diaoyu Lane to demonstrate her sincerity in visiting him.
After dinner, Mao Jiang bid farewell to Li Xiang, Chaozong, and Dingsheng, and followed Fang Mizhi downstairs to Diaoyu
Lane, where Dong Xiaowan lived.
"Pear blossoms like snow, grass like smoke, spring is on both banks of the Qinhuai River; a row of boudoirs overlook the water, every house with pink walls reflecting the beauty
of women." They walked along the scenic Qinhuai River. Along the way, Fang Mizhi, as he had heard from Hou Chaozong
, recounted how Dong Xiaowan longed to see him and, if they were compatible, would submit to him.
Upon arriving at the entrance of Diaoyu Lane, Fang Mizhi pointed out the door and told Mao Jiang to go in alone. Unexpectedly, Dong Xiaowan left without
saying goodbye, leaving the place empty. Not only did Mao Jiang fail to meet Dong Xiaowan, but he was also scolded and humiliated by the gatekeeper
, his anger instantly turning to ashes.
It wasn't until Hou Chaozong returned from Yang Longyou's place that he learned of the great calamity that had occurred three days earlier, and that Dong Xiaowan had already hastily
fled Nanjing.

A nobleman named Zhu Tongrui lived in Bird Robe Lane on the Qinhuai River. He was of royal lineage. His grandfather was enfeoffed as the Prince
of Jian'an ; his father was appointed Zhenguo Zhongwei, and he inherited the title of Zhenguo Zhongwei.
Although Zhu Tongrui was a descendant of the emperor, he was born with a hooked nose, rat-like eyes, and a monkey-like face. He relied on his royal family's
power and acted with impunity, running rampant and committing all sorts of evil deeds in Nanjing. Even the government feared him.
Although this nobleman Zhu was born into a family of extravagant wealth and luxury, he was illiterate and utterly vulgar.
Despite this, he often considered himself a refined scholar and feigned elegance.
That day, Zhu Tongrui hosted a dinner at Bian Yujing's Nuancui Pavilion, inviting several literati and scholars, including Yang Longyou, to accompany him.
Master Zhu sent his steward and servants to Diaoyu Lane several times, specifically requesting Dong Xiaowan to accompany him, but Dong Xiaowan was out and did not
return. When she finally returned, she refused to go, refusing to associate with Zhu Tongrui and his group despite all attempts to persuade her.
Chen Da Niang, knowing Master Zhu's fickle nature, was torn and wept. Dong Xiaowan, unable to bear seeing her mother's
predicament , reluctantly agreed to go.
Master Zhu, usually a powerful figure,
was furious that the seemingly insignificant Dong Xiaowan could not be summoned. However, when Xiaowan finally arrived, accompanied by her maid Xixi, he immediately revealed a lewd smile
, and his lustful desires were immediately aroused.
As a result, Dong Xiaowan neither drank nor sang that day. She not only confronted Zhu Tongrui directly, but
also overturned the banquet table in front of the guests.
Zhu Tongrui, unable to bear such humiliation, temporarily calmed down with the persuasion of those present. However, he later
secretly instructed his servants to harm Dong Xiaowan.
Yang Longyou, upon learning of Zhu Tongrui's plot to poison Dong Xiaowan, rushed to Diaoyu Lane that very night to inform Dong Xiaowan and
her mother. Chen Da Niang then hastily took Dong Xiaowan and fled Nanjing to Wujiang to avoid further trouble.
Upon understanding the situation, Mao Jiang was deeply impressed by Dong Xiaowan's unyielding spirit and her defiant attitude towards the powerful Marquis Wanhu .
He felt a surge of love for her, but the inability to meet her only added to his sense of loss and melancholy.
Mao Jiang originally intended to immediately travel to Suzhou to visit Dong Xiaowan, but then received a letter from home informing him that his mother was critically ill and urging him to return immediately
. Mao Jiang immediately took a boat to Yangzhou that night and then rode home under the cover of darkness. Only after his mother recovered did he
travel to Suzhou with his friend Chen Zeliang to handle the affairs of the Fushe Society.
When Mao Jiang arrived in Suzhou, he went to visit Dong Xiaowan's residence, but missed her twice. On his third visit, Mao
Jiang arrived early in the morning and gently knocked on the door knocker. With a creak, the courtyard gate opened. The maid, Aunt Shan,
was overjoyed to see the young master Mao, whom she had seen twice before. She hurriedly ushered him inside and called out
, "Auntie, Young Master Mao from Rugao has arrived!"
Mao Jiang followed Aunt Shan into the courtyard, where wisteria vines twined and locust trees cast long shadows. Following a gravel path,
they arrived at a small, exquisite building. On either side of the stone steps leading to the main entrance stood two potted plants in purple clay. One
was a boxwood stump with gnarled branches and swaying shadows; the other was a Lingbi rock, depicting a secluded valley reflected in water, with towering peaks reaching for the sky.
As Mao Jiang was still admiring the scenery, a woman emerged from the east wing. She hurriedly greeted him, saying, "
I'm so sorry to trouble you, young master, to come from so far away and visit three times. Let me call my daughter to greet you." Jiang then realized
it was Chen Da Niang, Xiao Wan's mother. Chen Da Niang invited Mao Jiang into the wing for tea, but Mao Jiang declined and
went to admire the flowers alone in the courtyard.
Xiao Wan, still drunk from a hangover, was still asleep in bed when she heard that Mao Jiang from Rugao had arrived. Her drunkenness vanished instantly. She put on her clothes,
got out of bed , and, pulling Xi Xi along, went downstairs. Then Chen Da Niang said, "Young master Mao, Xiao Wan has arrived!"
Hearing Chen Da Niang's greeting, Mao Jiang turned around and saw a young woman leaning against the railing. She wore a smoky purple
silk shirt and an ivory white silk skirt. Her hair was loose, her eyes were misty with drunkenness, her face was like the morning glow, and her figure was like a lotus in the breeze. Her drunken state contained
a kind of charm, and her charm carried a hint of arrogance.
Recalling her haughty demeanor at the banquet, Mao Jiang couldn't help but exclaim inwardly, "What a fine woman!"
As Xiao Wan approached, she found Mao Jiang to be elegant and refined, possessing a free and easy air, and couldn't help but nod in approval
: "Indeed, her reputation is well-deserved!"
At that moment, one had offered a chance to play the zither, and the other had no intention of rejecting his advances. Their eyes met, their feelings intertwined, and they remained silent
, each understanding unspoken. It wasn't until Aunt Chen invited Mao Jiang upstairs that they suddenly realized what had happened.
Upstairs, Dong Xiao Wan asked Mao Jiang to sit in the outer room while her mother entertained him with tea, and then she quickly went to her room to dress
. Mao Jiang, tea in hand, carefully observed the upstairs room. In the center of the room stood a mahogany eight-immortal table
. A redwood strip lay facing outwards, with a Dehua ivory-white porcelain sculpture of Guanyin crossing the sea in the center. On either side were
two shadow-blue carved porcelain vases, each holding a bunch of smoky purple and Luoyang red peonies, respectively. Hanging on the outer wall
was a hanging scroll, Tang Yin's "Weary Embroiderer." The couplet was written by Qian Muzhai: "Green stream reflects the moon over pines, lotus pond faces the breeze of willows."
As Mao Jiang was lost in his reverie, the bamboo curtain swayed, and a woman stepped out of her boudoir. She wore a light
yellow silk blouse and a lake-green silk skirt, like a peony in the mist, a lotus emerging from the water, gracefully appearing. She approached Mao Jiang,
bowed deeply, and said with her red lips, "I have troubled you twice to visit my humble abode, and today I have again kept you waiting
. I am deeply grateful."
Mao Jiang hurriedly rose and returned the
bow
, saying, "There is no need for such formality. Since learning of your exceptional qualities from Li Xiang, I have been eager to see you. Although I have been disappointed twice, I am fortunate to see your beautiful face today, and this is enough for me." Dong Xiaowan sat down opposite Mao Jiang, and they began to talk while sipping Biluochun tea.
Mao Jiang asked, "Miss Xiaowan, is the couplet on the gate your work? It is truly elegant
and profound."
Dong Xiaowan blushed and said shyly, "It is merely a rough sketch, hardly worthy of your refined taste. I hope
you will offer your guidance."
Mao Jiang smiled and said, "You are too modest, Miss Xiaowan."
Dong Xiaowan asked, "What do you think of my writing?" Mao Jiang
rubbed his hands and said with a sigh, "I am ashamed, ashamed! My writing is inferior to your talent, and my words are not as refined as jade. I am like rabbit silk and oatmeal... "
"He has a name but no substance. He entered the examination six times, but failed each time. It's just that his talent and learning are insufficient, and he is inferior to others."
Dong Xiaowan comforted him, "In my humble opinion, for you scholars of the Fushe Society, passing the imperial examination is as easy as taking a piece of a bag. You, sir, are simply waiting for the right
time a late bloomer."
During their conversation, Mao Jiang recounted how he had planned to visit his family after passing the examination, but his mother suddenly fell ill,
forcing him to return to his hometown to visit her. Xiaowan also told him about
how she had been harassed by local ruffians after arriving in Suzhou, forcing her to go into hiding.
As the two were talking about their esoteric affairs, the maid Xixi came to announce, "The suite is ready; please come in
and have a seat, ."
Upon entering the room, Dong Xiaowan invited Mao Jiang to sit at the head of the table and personally poured him wine and served him dishes. Before they had even finished three rounds of wine, Dong
Xiaowan's face was already flushed like a peach blossom, her eyes brimming with affection.
Mao Jiang wanted to tell her that he wanted to take her as a concubine, but fearing it would be presumptuous, he hesitated and held back. Just then, Xixi
brought in the dishes and saw the two of them staring at each other, lost in thought. She understood immediately and said, "Sister, haven't you always said that to
escape this sea of suffering , one must choose one's husband wisely? You must make a decisive move!"
Xiaowan, struggling to speak, saw Xixi get straight to the point and covered her face with a sandalwood fan with embroidered patterns, saying, "
Xiaowan has long been weary of Qinhuai. Though young, I yearn to escape this abyss, but I regret not having met someone to truly understand me. At the Lantern Festival banquet at Meixiang Tower
, you mentioned your talent, and I have cherished it ever since. I am grateful that you have graced my humble abode three times with your presence. If you do not mind,
I would gladly serve you as a maid."
Mao Jiang said, "I have long harbored deep feelings for you, but I am already married. With your talent and youthful beauty
, how could I possibly be reduced to a concubine?"
Xiaowan said, "You are mistaken. I am willing to be a concubine, hoping to find someone I can dedicate myself to, to escape this world. I wish to hear your
word, and I will remain secluded and vegetarian, awaiting your arrival."
Seeing this, Mao Jiang straightened his face and said, "I am deeply grateful for your kindness..." " I am but a humble man, but I will remember your kindness and will never fail you
!" Mao Jiang then explained his involvement in the Fushe Society's affairs and his upcoming departure from Suzhou to the north the next day. He also agreed to visit Xiao...
They discussed returning home together.
Xiao Wan, hearing that Mao Jiang would be leaving the next day, was heartbroken, her face darkening, her brows furrowed. After a while, she
said, "A true man's ambition lies in all corners of the world. You, sir, have been working tirelessly for this matter; how could I, a mere concubine, allow myself to be kept here by personal feelings?
However , powerful and influential people in this area are harassing me, making my days uneasy. I hope you will come soon. After you leave, I will stay indoors.
Next spring, I will consult the magpie's omens in the morning and the lamp's flame in the evening, hoping to see you again."
At this moment, Dong Xiao Wan was already in tears, overwhelmed with sorrow. Jiang comforted her gently, pointing to the heavens and
swearing, "I will not break my promise next spring. If you do not betray me, I will never betray you!" With a lowered head, their lips met.
Although Dong Xiao Wan lived in a brothel, she adhered to the principle of selling smiles but not her body, so she would not hesitate to respond
even or lewd remarks from lecherous men. However, now, being tightly embraced and passionately kissed, she
offered no resistance, instead reaching out to embrace him, her heart fluttering with desire, for she had already decided to entrust her life to him.
"Mmm!" Dong Xiaowan felt a nimble tongue swirling in her mouth, a warm hand caressing her buttocks and back, and
the hard object between Mao Jiang's legs pressing against her lower abdomen... She couldn't help but blush and feel hot. Dong Xiaowan involuntarily twisted her whole body,
bending her thighs and rubbing them lightly against Mao Jiang's side.
Even through the clothes, Mao Jiang could feel Dong Xiaowan's firm, elastic flesh pressed against her chest,
deforming and trembling due to the pressure and friction. Mao Jiang pulled his hands back, pressing his tiger's mouth upwards against Dong Xiaowan's lower abdomen, rubbing
and moving upwards, until the arc of his palms met the lower part of her breasts, and he tried to gently lift and tease them in a circular motion.
Dong Xiaowan seemed unable to resist such provocation. A series of stirrings arose deep within her, a warm, gushing flow,
like a feather brushing against her skin, teasing her from the depths of her vagina. Dong Xiaowan couldn't help but tighten her anus and clench her vulva, gently swaying
her lower body , letting her labia rub against each other. She felt an electric shock, sending a chill through her entire body. Dong Xiaowan felt
the love fluid flowing from her vaginal opening, down her thighs and calves…
In the dizziness of lust, Dong Xiaowan felt as if she were floating on clouds, seemingly hearing a rustling sound
, but she paid no attention. When she felt her nipples being held by two hot lips, she slightly opened her alluring eyes and realized that she
was now completely naked. Looking further, she saw Mao Jiang with his head bowed, sucking on her nipples
, his bare, slightly sweaty back revealing that he was also completely naked.
The thought of being completely naked and open with her beloved filled Dong Xiaowan with a mixture of joy and shyness. Mao Jiang's
effective teasing brought her immense pleasure, making her weak and swaying. Seeing this, Mao Jiang quickly
wrapped his arms around Dong Xiaowan's waist, lifting her into his arms and lifting her feet off the ground. Dong Xiaowan instinctively raised her legs,
wrapping them around his waist, clinging to him like an octopus.
Mao Jiang's mouth remained on Dong Xiaowan's breasts; his erect penis pressed against her buttocks. Mao Jiang
slowly walked towards the bed, his penis bouncing and rubbing against Dong Xiaowan's
buttocks with each step. In the throes of passion, Dong Xiaowan kissed Mao Jiang's cheeks, ears, and shoulders frantically, even
leaving light bite marks on his shoulder.
Mao Jiang gently placed Dong Xiaowan on the bed and sat beside her. At this moment, Dong Xiaowan's eyes were slightly closed, her lips parted,
her face flushed as if reflecting the heat of a furnace. She crossed her legs tightly, one hand covering her vulva, the edge of her palm revealing curly downy hair; the other hand
rose and fell across her chest with her rapid breathing. Her snow-white, soft skin was smooth and flawless, and against the crimson
bedsheets , it resembled jade and lacquer, making Mao Jiang's heart race with desire.
Mao Jiang removed Dong Xiaowan's hand from her vulva, revealing the vulva of a mature woman.
From the thick, curly downy hair, two plump, tender labia were visible, the pink edges turning bright red in the middle, glistening with
light , revealing that it was wet inside. Mao Jiang couldn't resist touching Dong Xiaowan's crotch.
Dong Xiaowan instinctively flinched slightly; this was an animal's instinct to protect its vital organs, but she stopped after a slight retreat
, remembering that the other person was her beloved Mao Jiang.
Dong Xiaowan squinted at Mao Jiang's penis, fiercely erect, veins bulging, glans a deep red, trembling
provocatively. Dong Xiaowan reached out her small hand and gently grasped it, feeling its heat and hardness. She couldn't help but
gently stroke it up and down, as if soothing a raging beast.
Mao Jiang placed his palm on the slightly raised area between Dong Xiaowan's legs, feeling the smooth, moist touch.
He slightly bent pressed it against the cleft of her labia, gently kneading and teasing it. Dong Xiaowan turned her head, shifted, and thrust in response
. Her clitoris began to swell and harden, and a continuous flow of vaginal fluid moistened her vulva, soaking
Mao Jiang's hand and a large patch of the sheets. Mao
Jiang seemed unable to restrain himself any longer. He impatiently rolled over and pressed himself against Dong Xiaowan, his erect penis pressed against
the cleft of her labia. Overwhelmed by lust, Dong Xiaowan seemed to move as if trying to escape, but felt utterly
powerless, only letting out a soft "Mmm!"—whether in protest or acquiescence was unclear.
Mao Jiang guided his penis, rotating it a few times at the entrance of her vagina, before slowly pushing forward. He realized the entrance was tight and
difficult to penetrate, realizing Dong Xiaowan was still a virgin. Once this was understood, Mao Jiang dared not force his way in .
Instead, he used his legs to spread Dong Xiaowan's legs, opening the passage as wide as possible, then rotated his hips,
grinding his glans against the entrance, gradually pushing inward.
When the glans of Mao Jiang's penis first touched the entrance, Dong Xiaowan felt a slight tension, even
a mild stinging sensation. However, when Mao Jiang changed from thrusting to grinding, Dong Xiaowan immediately felt
his tenderness and gratitude welled up within her. Mao Jiang's
dawdling made Dong Xiaowan feel an unbearable throbbing sensation inside her,
even more so than the initial stinging pain of penetration. So, she gently twisted her slender waist in coordination with the grinding motion of his penis. Unexpectedly, with this movement
, Mao Jiang's penis, aided by the lubrication of her vaginal fluids, "whoosh!" The entire glans squeezed into the entrance,
perfectly positioned at the opening.
"Mmm!" Mao Jiang's glans was tightly enveloped by the warm, wet vaginal walls; "Ah!" Dong Xiaowan
felt her vagina being stretched open, a slight pain mixed with a comfortable fullness.
Seeing his glans inside, Mao Jiang felt relieved and increased his force, slowly pushing his penis further in with
the gentlest and most gentle movements, attempting to allow Dong Xiaowan to experience the ecstasy of sexual climax with minimal pain
. This allowed the nerve cells in Mao Jiang's penis to clearly feel every inch of Dong Xiaowan's vaginal opening.
Every bump, every crease.
Despite Mao Jiang's gentle movements, Dong Xiaowan, being a virgin, inevitably experienced the pain of her first time
. However, this stinging pain was quickly replaced by the pleasure and excitement of being filled by his penis. Moreover, the rolling
heat made the area around her uterus unbearably itchy, wishing that his penis would quickly press against her sensitive spot to relieve the itch.
Dong Xiaowan involuntarily lifted her lower body and twisted her waist. Waves of pleasure filled her entire body and rushed to her limbs, causing her
to convulse, tremble, and moan...
When Mao Jiang's glans felt it reach the innermost point, he felt his entire penis being
tightly enveloped by the warm, moist flesh around it. Although only his penis was completely enveloped, he felt as if his whole body was enveloped
, powerless. He closed his eyes, took a breath, and quietly savored this heavenly delicacy, gathering the energy for the next move.
"Oh!" The pleasure of being filled by the penis stirred Dong Xiaowan's latent lust. She tightly embraced Mao
Jiang's back, pressed her cherry lips to his, and deeply sucked on them. Dong Xiaowan's tongue forced open Mao Jiang's lips,
continuing to penetrate his mouth. In this passionate "French kiss," Mao Jiang began to
slowly thrust his penis.
It seemed as if all of Mao Jiang's strength, his very spirit, was concentrated in his penis. The thrusting penis constantly received
compressive forces from all directions, making it seem as if it was about to burst under the pressure, causing Mao Jiang to thrust
faster and faster. Dong Xiaowan's hips twisted faster and faster, her moans growing louder, waves of pleasure
slowly pushing her to the highest point of ecstasy.
Mao Jiang felt Dong Xiaowan's vagina becoming increasingly slippery, making the thrusting smoother. He involuntarily
increased the speed of his thrusts, like galloping horses, making "plop! plop!" The sounds of their movements were almost continuous, without interruption or pause.
Suddenly, Mao Jiang felt his penis swelling and his scrotum tingling. Before he could finish a low growl, "Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!
", streams of hot semen shot out.
"Ah..." Dong Xiaowan's uterine walls felt as if they had been violently impacted, as streams of warm semen
followed , scalding her internal organs and causing her to convulse. "Hmm..." Dong Xiaowan let out another wanton
moan, her vaginal walls contracting rhythmically and rapidly, a surge of hot fluid rushing out of her uterus.
The stimulation made Dong Xiaowan seem dizzy, her long fingernails unknowingly scratching several marks on Mao Jiang's back.
Mao Jiang lay limp on Dong Xiaowan's body, still slowly twisting his hips with lingering pleasure. This thrusting was different from an orgasm
; an orgasm brought instant pleasure, while this thrusting of his penis in her vagina after an orgasm
allowed both of them to maintain a long period of pleasure.
"Huff...shh...huff...shh..." Both men breathed deeply, letting the sweat soak their skin. Neither
wanted to move; they were tired and weary, a mixture of exhaustion and the relief of post-orgasm. They just wanted to close their eyes and let the climax fade away in
their half-awake, half-asleep state ...

Mid-Autumn Festival arrived in the blink of an eye. That day, Mr. and Mrs. Mao accompanied the old lady to the Chenyan Pavilion in Shuihui Garden to enjoy the moon and drink wine before
returning to their room to rest.
As the couple went to bed, Mao Jiang remembered something on his mind and wanted to ask his wife (Su Yuanfang) for help.
He hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped himself. Madam Su pressed him repeatedly, and Mao Jiang finally recounted how he met Dong Xiaowan in Suzhou
, how talented she was, how she had offended powerful figures in Nanjing, how she had sought refuge in Suzhou
to escape a suitable husband to escape her misery—all of which he had personally agreed to.
Su Yuanfang, a sensible and virtuous woman, immediately agreed to smooth things over with Madam Su and help the matter proceed.
Overjoyed at Madam Su's agreement, Mao Jiang turned and gave her a passionate kiss; Su Yuanfang responded fervently
.
Mao Jiang plunged his tongue into Su Yuanfang's lips, sucking her saliva, while his right hand caressed her nipples
and his left hand removed her nightgown. Su Yuanfang, now middle-aged, was slightly plump, but her muscles, well-maintained, were
still snow-white. On her slightly sagging breasts, dark areolas supported swollen nipples.
Thick, dark downy hair revealed the slightly moist, protruding clitoris.
Mao Jiang stroked the protruding clitoris with his fingers, causing Su Yuanfang to tremble slightly, her breath quickening and a soft
moan escaping her lips. Mao Jiang then buried his head in Su Yuanfang's chest, feeling her trembling with his cheek,
inhaling her fragrance with his nose, and sucking on her nipples with his lips and tongue, letting her completely revel in this enchanting
scene.
With his face pressed against Su Yuanfang's breasts, Mao Jiang hastily removed his clothes, then rolled over and straddled
her, supporting himself with his hands, gazing into her eyes. At this moment, Su Yuanfang's delicate face
was flushed with a rosy blush, making her appear even more alluring. Although it was a familiar face he saw day and night, Mao Jiang always felt
that his wife in bed was completely different from his wife in everyday life. It was truly a case of "virtuous by day;
wanton ."
Su Yuanfang cooperated by spreading her legs, placing Mao Jiang between them. She then shifted her body to
open her vaginal opening, reached out to guide his erect penis, aimed it at her moist vulva, and with a slight thrust,
half of Mao Jiang's penis slid in. As Mao Jiang entered her soft, warm, and moist vagina, he felt a writhing sensation
, as if being chewed, the intense pleasure of the pressure on his penis sending a rush of sensation throughout his body.
Mao Jiang slowly thrust in and out; although the vaginal walls were somewhat loose, it allowed his glans to feel a smooth, pleasurable sensation. With
each full insertion, he could feel her trembling with excitement and her soft, panting breaths.
As Mao Jiang gradually increased the speed of his thrusts, her moans grew louder, and the bed creaked in response.
Although it was Mid-Autumn Festival and the night was cool, Su Yuanfang's face was covered in
tiny ; her swaying breasts were also dripping with her husband's sweat. Su Yuanfang's breast buds, like fingertips
, lightly touched and rubbed against Mao Jiang's chest.
Suddenly, Su Yuanfang hugged her husband tightly, her whole body trembling violently, arching her lower body high, her
rapid breathing mixed with deep moans from her throat. Mao Jiang felt his penis enveloped by waves of heat,
knowing his wife had reached orgasm. He released his seminal vesicle, thrusting violently a few times, and then, with a thud and trembling,
ejaculated a thick stream of semen
.
One early winter day, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law discussed the ancestral temple sacrifice. Taking the opportunity, Madam Su mentioned Dong Xiaowan to the old lady
. She said that although Dong Xiaowan was a courtesan from Qinhuai, she was pure and virtuous, and also skilled in literature. Now, the young master
needed someone to attend to him at his desk, and she wanted her to stay in the study to care for him and assist her daughter-in-law with household chores.
The old lady, who already loved her son, was even more pleased to hear her daughter-in-law's help and readily agreed.
In the thirteenth year of Chongzhen's reign (1644-1645), shortly after the Lantern Festival, Mao Jiang, with Madam Su's assistance, prepared
several hundred taels of silver for travel expenses and jewelry to give to Dong Xiaowan, preparing to go and redeem her.
However, fate intervened. Just as Mao Jiang was about to set off for Yangzhou, he suddenly received an urgent letter from his father in the capital
. It turned out that his father had been framed in a plot to kill someone else. The letter said, "Dying at the hands of a thief would be no regret
. My only fear is dying unjustly, without a name." He also instructed Mao Jiang to "take good care of his mother, be diligent and ambitious, be loyal to
the emperor and patriotic, and not disgrace the family." Mao Jiang was a filial son. Seeing his father in danger, he went to
the
capital alone to petition for his father's rescue. With the help of his father's friends, Mao Jiang was able to meet the emperor. He showed no fear in the face of imperial authority
, and his memorials moved the entire court. Finally, Emperor Chongzhen was moved and ordered a thorough investigation, revealing the truth. His father, Mao Song,
was able to retain his post and avoid being dismissed and imprisoned.
When Mao Jiang returned home, his mother fell ill. By the time she fully recovered, winter was over and spring had returned. With the Dragon Boat Festival
approaching, Mao Jiang finally had the opportunity to discuss with Madam Su about going to Suzhou to find Dong Xiaowan. The agreed-upon
meeting had passed, and Mao Jiang was extremely anxious.
By the time Mao Jiang arrived in Suzhou, it was already dark. Without stopping, he groped his way to Dong Xiaowan's residence. Along the
way, he learned that she had been ill at home for twenty days since returning from Hangzhou, due to the loss of her mother. Mao Jiang was both surprised and delighted.
Upon reaching Dong Xiaowan's door, he immediately knocked. After knocking for a long time without response, he became anxious and began
pounding on the door with his fist.
"Who is it?" Finally, a low echo came from upstairs. Mao Jiang quickly announced his name.
The door slowly opened, and a woman dressed in mourning clothes, with disheveled hair and a pale face, emerged. She was none other than Xiaowan
's maid, Xixi. Seeing Mao Jiang sobbing, Xi Xi was speechless for a long time. After a while, she sighed
, "Young Master Mao, you...you're too late."
Mao Jiang was immediately stunned. He rushed into the room and ran upstairs. He saw the outer room with a flickering lamp, cluttered with miscellaneous
items , and a medicine pot in disarray. His legs went numb, and tears streamed down his face. Entering the room, he lifted the curtain and saw Dong Xiaowan
lying stiffly on the bed, her face ashen, her breathing weak, on the verge of death. Mao Jiang
was overwhelmed with sorrow and threw himself on Xiaowan, wailing, "Xiaowan! I've let
you down! I'm too late!" He cried and lamented, his grief unbearable.
Dong Xiaowan was walking in the icy water, dazed. Suddenly, she heard someone calling her name. She opened her weary eyes slightly and was surprised
to find the person she had been longing for day and night right in front of her. Seeing that Dong Xiaowan had woken up, Xi Xi quickly handed her a bowl of ginseng soup,
which Mao Jiang fed her spoonful by spoonful.
Dong Xiaowan, anxiously awaiting Mao Jiang's arrival, hadn't eaten or drunk anything for nearly twenty days, and medicine
had been ineffective. Suddenly, she sat up abruptly. Mao Jiang quickly recounted to Xiaowan how he had been delayed in the capital to save his father, and how he had been caring for his critically ill mother
, thus breaking his promise. Hearing his story, Xiaowan realized that the young master wasn't a heartless
man, and that his late-night visit demonstrated his deep affection. Hope for Mao Jiang was rekindled.
The two shared a bowl of red bean porridge that Xixi had prepared, talking endlessly about their separation and sorrow, until the resounding
bells of Hanshan Temple rang out, reminding them that it was already broad daylight.
Mao Jiang remembered his promise to Wang Tianjie to go to Nanjing for the imperial examinations and quickly told Dong Xiaowan. Upon hearing this, Xiaowan's
face paled. She hadn't expected that this meeting with the young master would be so fleeting. Mao Jiang
presented Dong Xiaowan with a pair of phoenix and dragon hairpins and a pair of jade bracelets, gifts from Madam Su . He promised to come and fetch Xiaowan after the autumn examination to bring them together in Rugao
.
Since this was the case, Dong Xiaowan couldn't insist on staying. She simply agreed to see him off on the ship when it departed. Mao Jiang,
worried that Dong Xiaowan, still recovering from a serious illness, wouldn't be able to endure the hardship, said, "You should rest and recuperate
. There's no need for you to come and see me off while you're ill..." He seemed reluctant to part with her.
Xiaowan, understanding the greater good, said resolutely, "My lord, you must not hesitate. A true man should strive for great things.
Even if you cannot move mountains and cross seas, you should still leave a mark on the world. Please don't let
petty romantic feelings jeopardize your future!" At this point, tears streamed down her face. Seeing Xiaowan's deep affection, Mao Jiang felt even more heartbroken, but he had no choice but to promise to immediately go to Suzhou to bring her back after
the autumn examination . Since parting ways with Mao Jiang, Dong Xiaowan intended to stay home and await good news. However, less than half a month later, her father, having been framed, incurred a large gambling debt, and the creditors came to her door daily demanding repayment. Initially, her father tried to negotiate, promising to repay the principal and interest after the Mid-Autumn Festival, and the creditors forgave him and stopped pressing her. But all this scheming was orchestrated by Zhu Tongrui out of resentment towards Dong Xiaowan; he wanted her, not the money. Zhu Tongrui worried that after the Mid-Autumn Festival, when Mao Jiang arrived, everything would be lost. Therefore, he sent his trusted servants, who conspired with a group of creditors, to cause a daily disturbance at her door, hurling insults and profanities, ignoring all attempts to appease them. Dong Xiaowan, subjected to insults and humiliation, was furious and resentful of her ill-fated beauty, contemplating suicide several times. Fortunately, Xixi and Aunt Shan gently persuaded her, preventing a tragedy. When Zhu Tongrui saw that threats and inducements had failed, he secretly plotted to abduct Xiaowan to his residence. Upon receiving this news, Dong Xiaowan took a desperate gamble, traveling by boat with her mother to Nanjing to seek refuge with Mao Jiang. However, upon reaching Jiangyin, they encountered a pirate ship. Fortunately, Dong Xiaowan remained calm and composed, escaping danger. Just as they were about to reach Nanjing, a sudden storm arose at Yanziji, causing her to slip and fall into the river. Luckily, bystanders helped her, preventing her from drowning, but she was separated from her mother. Though the story seems simple, Dong Xiaowan's journey was fraught with hardship and danger, a true escape from the jaws of death. When Dong Xiaowan finally arrived in Nanjing alone, it was already the sixteenth year of the Chongzhen Emperor's reign. For over a year, there had been no , leaving Mao Jiang searching in vain . Rumors even circulated that she had drowned herself, causing Mao Jiang immense grief. Fortunately, Mao Jiang met Chen Yuanyuan during this time and received a lot of encouragement from her, which enabled him to...

Hope for life was rekindled. However, fate had other plans. Chen Yuanyuan was forcibly
taken away , dealing Mao Jiang another devastating blow by the loss of his beloved.
Just as Mao Jiang was sinking into despair, his friend Qian Muzhai from the Sanshan Sect sent him some incredible good news: "...
Dong Xiaowan is staying at the Qian residence, waiting to reunite with Mao Jiang..." Upon receiving the news, Mao Jiang
immediately rushed to the Sanshan Sect.
After many twists and turns, Mao Jiang and Dong Xiaowan were finally reunited. Upon meeting, they embraced and wept, sharing their longing for each other. Mao
Jiang, of course, also told her about Chen Yuanyuan's situation. Dong Xiaowan broke out in a cold sweat upon hearing this, thinking that if she had
suffered the same fate as Chen Yuanyuan and been abducted by Zhu Tongrui, her strong-willed personality would surely lead her to commit suicide rather than endure the humiliation.
The Qian residence was also bustling with activity as a banquet was held for Dong Xiaowan and Mao Jiang to celebrate their reunion. At Taoye River Pavilion
, brightly lit and adorned with flowers, amidst the shimmering moonlight and flowing water, wine was poured and
a
feast was held. Poems were recited, and
conversations about flowers and the moon filled the air with joy. As the fourth drumbeat sounded, the boats on the Qinhuai River dispersed, and at Taoye Ferry, the sounds of music ceased. Seeing that the night was deep and time was running out, Liu Rushi suggested, "Tonight is the joyous occasion of Young Master Mao and Sister Xiaowan's reunion . How about Xiaowan sings a song for everyone to celebrate?" Everyone clapped and cheered.
That evening, Dong Xiaowan's cheeks were flushed, and she radiated health. Hearing the suggestion, she readily agreed, gently opening her jade-like throat
and gracefully , singing Yan Xiaoshan's poem "Partridge Sky": "With colorful sleeves, I lovingly hold up the jade cup; tonight, I'll risk my flushed face in drunkenness
. My dance is low, like the moon reflected in the willow-lined pavilion; my song ends, like the wind blowing through the peach blossom fan. Since our parting, I recall our meeting; how many times have my soul and dreams been with you? Tonight, I'll light the silver
lamp, still fearing our meeting is but a dream." The melodious and tender song gradually
spread across the Qinhuai River, where moonlight and water mingled…
During the banquet, Mao Jiang, perhaps too excited, drank heavily, raising his cup repeatedly, until he became completely drunk
, causing everyone to scramble to catch him. After settling Mao Jiang down to bed and having Dong Xiaowan attend to him, everyone took their
leave and applied a warm compress with a damp towel, finally easing Mao Jiang's drunkenness and causing him to slowly awaken. Seeing Dong
Xiaowan gently attending to him, Mao Jiang struggled to sit up, embracing her with deep gratitude and affection.
He gently patted her back and said tenderly, "Xiaowan, I have truly wronged you greatly. From now on, no matter
what, I will never leave you again. I want to be with you forever!"
Dong Xiaowan's heart leaped with joy. She gently pushed Mao Jiang's shoulder, urging him to lie down, "Thank you, young master!
You were drunk earlier, please rest early… Ah!…" Before she could finish speaking, Mao Jiang, following her movement,
pulled her down onto his body and immediately pressed his lips to hers.
Dong Xiaowan, as if releasing pent-up longing at this moment, responded passionately.
In the heat of their kiss
Mao Jiang felt as if he had just sobered up, but now he was drunk again—drunk on desire. The two kissed, rolled
, and caressed each other passionately... Soon, their clothes were scattered on the floor.
Mao Jiang lay on his back on the bed, leaning against the inside; Dong Xiaowan faced him, pressed close to him, her head resting on his chest, her sleepy,
alluring eyes gazing at the penis she was stroking—
Mao Jiang's large, erect, red-headed jade rod. Dong Xiaowan savored the memory of their first night in Suzhou, sometimes smiling sweetly, sometimes gazing tenderly. Suddenly, Dong Xiaowan felt a surge
of spring fever , her body stirring again, her hands gripping the jade rod tightly, stroking it continuously.
Mao Jiang turned his head to look at Dong Xiaowan's face. Her eyes were filled with spring, her neck lowered, and her smile radiant. His own
penis was held in her hand, stroking it rhythmically. She was now completely naked, her breasts heaving, waves of flesh rippling
, her nipples lightly brushing against her chest. Dong Xiaowan's snow-white thighs rubbed against Mao Jiang's lower
body, the movement revealing glimpses of dark downy hair beneath her flat stomach—a sight that grew increasingly
captivating.
As Mao Jiang's lust intensified, one hand began to caress Dong Xiaowan's breasts, while the other
stroked her soft back. Dong Xiaowan's moans grew louder, her lower body writhing more and more violently
, until finally her entire vulva was like a brush, rubbing against Mao Jiang's thighs, the lustful fluids from her vulva
wetting his thighs.
Dong Xiaowan's lust seemed to reach its peak, suddenly transforming her into a frenzied harlot. She flipped over, parted her legs
, and guided Mao Jiang's penis to her vulva. With a soft "Mmm!", she sat down, and "Plop!
" the penis slid in completely without resistance.
Dong Xiaowan felt a slight sting at the entrance of her vagina, but immediately the pleasurable fullness of the penis against her clitoris
filled her entire body, sending a shiver down her spine. Dong Xiaowan leaned forward slightly, her hands supporting her on either side of Mao Jiang
, slowly raising her hips and then slowly sitting down, allowing the penis to "go in and out" of her vagina.
Mao Jiang watched Dong Xiaowan's clumsy movements, her breasts swaying back and forth. By simply propping
his head up, he could see the point where their bodies were joined. Mao Jiang found it both pleasurable and pleasing to the eye, involuntarily
thrusting his hips in sync with Dong Xiaowan's movements, while Dong Xiaowan's movements became increasingly skilled and faster.
Dong Xiaowan's swaying breasts, moving rhythmically with her movements, brushed against Mao Jiang's chest. Each time their skin
was gently touched, they would both shudder and let out a soft groan. Dong Xiaowan's labia, constantly moving with the thrusting of
his penis , would release a stream of vaginal fluid, soaking their pubic hair
and making it glisten.
Suddenly, Dong Xiaowan gasped for breath, straightening her body, tossing her loose hair, and tilting her head back, uttering panting,
lewd moans. Before Mao Jiang could understand, he felt his penis being
overwhelmed by waves of heat, a tingling sensation running through his body. His legs straightened, his penis trembled, and a gush of hot semen shot out from his urethra,
shooting deep into Dong Xiaowan's core.
"Mmm!" With a soft moan filled with happiness and satisfaction, Dong Xiaowan slumped against Mao Jiang's body
again, feeling even more fluid gushing from her vagina. Combined with Mao Jiang's penis and semen, her vagina felt completely full, the intense
pleasure lingering long after the orgasm…

The next day, Mao Jiang, Dong Xiaowan, and Liu Rushi were discussing Xiaowan's divorce and debt repayment when they suddenly
received two urgent letters. One was a handwritten edict from Lord Mao, stating that the Emperor had granted her a divorce and ordering Mao Jiang to immediately…
They went to Wuhu to welcome her. One letter came from Suzhou, explaining that the creditors there, upon hearing of Dong Xiaowan's reappearance
, immediately came to cause trouble. Zhu Tongrui even threatened to burn the Dong family home to the ground if Dong Xiaowan didn't return to repay her father's debts
. This left Xiaowan and Jiang extremely anxious and distraught.
Just then, Mao Jiang's sworn brother, Liu Shijun, immediately decided that he and Xiaowan should first go to Suzhou to ask the Suzhou prefect
to issue a notice announcing the debt repayment plan to reassure the people; after Mao Jiang brought his father back, they would then go to Suzhou to
welcome Dong Xiaowan.
Friends from the Fushe Society and the Qinhuai sisters, seeing that Dong Xiaowan was returning to Suzhou to repay her debts, showered her with jewelry and silver, doing their best
to help. Xiaowan was initially distressed and wept, but seeing that Prefect Liu was accompanying her, the Suzhou prefect was present, and she had
money to repay the debts, she gained courage. So she bid farewell to Mao Jiang and the other sisters and went to Suzhou with Prefect Liu.
Liu Shijun arrived in Suzhou and immediately issued a notice not announcing any repayment plan. Unexpectedly, this alerted Zhu Tongrui
, who, in desperation, abducted Dong Xiaowan on a dark and windy night and hid her.
Upon Xiaowan's sudden disappearance, Prefect Liu anxiously met with the Suzhou prefect to search for her and sent a messenger urgently to
Lord Qian Muzhai, requesting him to find a solution. Qian Muzhai and Liu Rushi rushed to Suzhou, met with the prefect, and
immediately solved the case, settling the debt and completing the formalities for Dong Xiaowan's rehabilitation.
On the 28th day of the twelfth month of the sixteenth year of Chongzhen's reign, the Mao residence was brightly decorated with lanterns and candles, filled with joy. At
dusk , the wedding procession carried Dong Xiaowan, dressed in auspicious attire, out of the Shuihui Garden in a bridal sedan chair and brought her back to the Mao residence.
By the time the banquet ended and the guests had left, it was past midnight. Mao Jiang returned to the bridal chamber and, gazing at
the beautiful Dong Xiaowan before the dressing table by candlelight, smiled and softly recited: "Yesterday and tonight are so different, the new bride surpasses
the beauty of the old. Like swallows flying in pairs among jade ornaments, like two hearts united on the mandarin duck pillow."
Dong Xiaowan, seeing this, also smiled and recited: "I rejoiced in your fame at the Meixiang Tower, my dreams linger with longing to meet you. We met in a drunken stupor and
were united in marriage, a predestined bond fulfilled after surviving a calamity."
After reciting, the two exchanged a knowing smile. Of course…
afterwards, Dong Xiaowan went to the mansion every morning to help Su Yuanfang with household chores. In the afternoons, she would go to the Shuihui Garden to accompany
the young master, playing the zither, enjoying fragrant tea, creating calligraphy and paintings, and discussing poetry and literature.
She treated her parents-in-law with utmost respect, was harmonious with Mao Jiang, and was extremely friendly with Madam Su.
Within a few months, everyone in the Mao household was pleased with her.

(Epilogue)
On March 19th of the seventeenth year of the Chongzhen reign (1644), Li Zicheng's army stormed into Beijing, and the Chongzhen Emperor hanged himself on Coal Hill. In May,
the Prince of Fu throne, and the following year was renamed the first year of the Hongguang reign. Furthermore, because Wu Sangui opened the gates and surrendered to the Qing, the Qing army took advantage of the situation
and swept through the city, conquering cities and passes with the force of a whirlwind.
In May of the eighteenth year of the Chongzhen reign (1645), Yangzhou and Nanjing fell to the Qing army. "The copper mine collapses in the west, and the copper mine in the east responds." Panic gripped Rugao, and nine out of ten houses were emptied. Seeing this,
Mao was greatly alarmed and hurriedly
consulted with Dong Xiaowan. Xiaowan said, "When the nest is overturned, how can the eggs remain intact? I think the best strategy is to flee. For now, it's best to avoid
the enemy's advance and hide temporarily." So, the whole family went to seek refuge with Chen Zeliang, the salt official.
Upon arriving in Yanguan City, they learned that Chen Zeliang's family had moved away a few days earlier to avoid the chaos. Mao Jiang's family
was now in a foreign land, unfamiliar with everyone and everything. Mao Jiang, having fallen into the water on the way, developed a fever.
A few days later, he fell ill. He suffered from chills, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Dong Xiaowan and Su Yuanfang pawned their jewelry
to buy medicine for him. Under Xiaowan's meticulous care, his condition improved day by day. However, Dong
Xiaowan's face was now ashen, her body withered, her eyes bloodshot, and her fingers parched. Her mother-in-law and Yuanfang tried several times to
relieve , but she refused, saying, "If I can do my best to take good care of the young master, that is a blessing for the whole family.
If the young master can recover, even if I die from the illness, I will live on in death."
At this time, Rugao City was peaceful and stable. Mao Jiang, following his father's orders, hired a small boat and quietly returned the whole family to
Rugao , ending their nearly ten months of wandering.
After returning to Rugao with Dong Xiaowan, Mao Jiang severed ties with relatives and friends, remaining secluded at home day and night. At this time, former Ming officials
such as Wu Sangui and Hong Chengchou had surrendered to the Qing, and Donglin Fushe figures like Qian Muzhai and Hou Chaozong had also submitted to the new court. Mao
Jiang, however, lived a secluded life at home, vowing never to serve as an official, spending his days feasting and socializing with Dong Xiaowan and her entourage.
In the eighth year of the Shunzhi reign, Dong Xiaowan, this remarkable and elegant woman of the Qinhuai region, died from overwork at the age of twenty-seven.
To mourn Xiaowan, Mao Jiang wrote a short account of her life, the poignant and moving book *Yingmei'an Yihua
*, which vividly portrays Dong Xiaowan's passionate love, strong will, noble character, and extraordinary talent
. Even at the age of eighty-two, Mao Jiang still cherished memories of Dong Xiaowan, writing a
seven-character quatrain on a scroll: "
New silk robes flutter in the breeze, a song at the banquet, a cup raised in toast."
I once sang of Yangguan and shed tears of parting; now, in the loneliness of Suzhou, I return home.
