【The Tale of a Licentious Woman Cultivating Immortality】(8)

Chapter Eight. The Path of Cultivation, Half-Level Qi Refining
After abducting Li Xueqing, the man immediately
used the "Wind Control Technique" to flee. Qi Refining stage cultivators cannot fly unless they possess a special flying artifact; otherwise, flight is a luxury. They can only use the Wind Control Technique to fly at low altitudes,
which looks quite like the light-footed skills of the mortal world.
To evade the hunting dogs that might be dispatched to search, he even flew across several ditches and rivers,
moving on the water's surface and changing his landing position to confuse the dogs' sense of smell.
He would never have imagined that Phoenix Dance Tower had two ruthless characters whose cultivation was comparable to or even stronger than True Immortals, shattering all his schemes
. If they hadn't not planned to pursue him, his life would certainly be in danger.
Carrying the unconscious Li Xueqing, he slipped into the mountains outside the city under the cover of night, specifically choosing
places that were difficult for ordinary people to climb. This mountain range, in the mortal world, did not surpass the Great Song Dynasty's Dragon Vein in height,
but in the cultivation world, it was a legend, known as the Heavenly Dao Mountain Range.
The only ancient cultivation sect, the "Heavenly Dao Holy Sect," has its headquarters, "Heavenly Dao Mountain," located within this mountain range. However,
for some unknown reason, apart from Heavenly Dao Mountain, the entire mountain range has virtually no spiritual veins, only
scattered fragments. Therefore, apart from independent cultivators, no cultivation families or sects are interested in it.
As for Heavenly Dao Mountain, its spiritual veins are exceptionally good, even considered comparable to those in the Spirit Realm.
Unfortunately, the entire Heavenly Dao Mountain, from the heavens to the earth, is sealed off by ancient powerful cultivators with restrictions, preventing anyone from
setting foot inside.
"Hmm... Ah!" After an unknown amount of time, Li Xueqing twisted her body and woke up.
"Hmm? Eh?!" Li Xueqing quickly recalled her last memories, but couldn't reconcile them with the scene before her
.
Jumping from her book-filled room to a cold, dark cave would be difficult for anyone to adjust to.
"You're awake..." The man emerged from the depths of the cave, looking at Li Xueqing.
"Why...why did you bring me here?" Li Xueqing's face was quite solemn, but she still hoped that this
scene, which looked like a desolate wilderness, was actually just an artificial hill in the Fengwu Tower garden.
"Aren't you going to thank the person who rescued you from this hellhole?"
"Rescue...you?"
"This is the Tiandao Mountain Range, the people in that brothel are looking for..." Before the man could finish speaking, Li Xueqing grabbed him
by the collar and shouted:
"Tiandao Mountain Range! How am I supposed to go back after you brought me to a place like this!"
"You still want to go back?" "Of course, I haven't taken my two thousand five hundred taels...oh my god, and there's also the thirty-one taels and seven hundred and thirty-two copper coins
I hid ..." "Are you serious?" "Damn it! Give me back my money!" Li Xueqing was heartbroken. Compared to the fear of being kidnapped, losing that large sum of money was probably more painful for her. The man was completely stunned. There were actually women in the world who would give up their chastity for money. Although he only planned to use her as a vessel, she was still much better than a prostitute who was ridden by thousands and penetrated by tens of thousands. He couldn't imagine a brothel like Fengwu Tower , and naturally, he couldn't understand a girl like Li Xueqing. "Wait a minute!" The man tapped the girl's forehead, a soft poke that sent her stumbling back several steps. "What's money? Do you know what's the noblest thing in the world?" " Money," Li Xueqing replied without hesitation. "...It's...a...cultivator..." The man was nearly driven mad by this money-grubber: "Once you become a cultivator, thousands or tens of thousands of taels of silver are no problem...and you can even live forever, your beauty eternal." "Oh?" Hearing about making money and maintaining her beauty, Li Xueqing became interested. As for immortality, she was just indulging in a little fantasy now and then; it wasn't a crime. Don't ruin her dreams. "We cultivators absorb the essence of heaven and earth, possessing the great power to overturn rivers and seas..." the man began to list the benefits of cultivation. (Let's see one...) Li Xueqing thought to herself, of course, the clever girl wouldn't actually say it aloud. If cultivators were truly that powerful, trying to fight them would only lead to self-inflicted suffering. However, at least some of the man's daydreams were quite realistic. With something called "magical powers," one could make a living in the mortal world. If one could refine some elixirs, one could even receive patronage from royalty or the super-rich, and wealth rolling in would be no dream. "I want to learn!" Li Xueqing's eyes shone brightly, practically glowing with gold—so much money! The man shook his head and said, "I'm going to buy some things. Don't wander off, or...you'll die." With that, the man left, leaving Li Xueqing alone in the cave. "Hmph, if I told someone not to run around and they didn't, that would be so embarrassing." Li Xueqing's beautiful eyes darted around, revealing a mischievous smile. "Look at where this place is..." The girl cautiously groped her way forward in the dark cave. The exit wasn't far, just around a corner , about ten feet in diameter, when a large hole, four feet in diameter, appeared before her without any cover. Bright sunlight streamed in, but it made her shout angrily: "Bastard! How dare he leave me in this godforsaken place!!!" Li Xueqing was in a cave on a cliff. Forget about leaving; just taking a step out of the cave would only result in her being smashed to pieces. No wonder she even swore. "Ahhh~ Am I just going to starve to death in this desolate wilderness...?" Li Xueqing helplessly retreated back into the cave , lamenting the tragic fate of beautiful women throughout history. Fortunately, the man returned not long after. "Before I let you cultivate, you have to agree to one condition." "What condition?" After realizing her current situation, Li Xueqing had become quite convinced of most of the abilities the man spoke of in cultivators. "Be my woman." "...Can I take money?" "...Can you not be so greedy?" "No." "...Okay, I'll give you one hundred taels each time." "Alright, when to start? Now?" Li Xueqing's previously pouting lips immediately began to solicit customers.

"...After you've mastered this," the man said silently, tossing her two booklets and a jade bottle.
"Mysterious Water Technique? Yin-Yang Furnace Technique? Abstinence Pill?"
"Practice the Mysterious Water Technique first, then the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique. One Abstinence Pill a day will keep you
from getting hungry even without food," the man instructed.
"Okay, the Mysterious Water Technique...it's so thin...how come there are only two pages?" Li Xueqing flipped through the Mysterious Water Technique, only to find it
had only two levels of cultivation, while the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique had a full thirteen levels.
"Don't be too ambitious, just start practicing," the man began explaining the basic terminology of cultivation, such as meridians,
the circulation of qi, and so on. Li Xueqing was already well-read, having dabbled in Buddhist, Taoist, and Confucian classics, and even read
many medical texts, so she quickly grasped the concepts.
After explaining, the man, regardless of whether she understood or not, went deeper into the cave, tossing out a stone-like
object that transformed into a heavy stone door sealing the cave, and began his so-called "secluded" cultivation.
"Cultivate, cultivate... for a hundred taels!" Li Xueqing quickly immersed herself in cultivation. A hundred taels
was a high price in the lower academy, no wonder she was so motivated.
She had only just begun cultivating according to the Profound Water Technique when she felt wisps of water vapor gathering from all directions,
seeping into her body through her tiny pores. The cool sensation was incredibly comfortable, like soaking in water. Her
mind was drawn deeper by this familiar feeling, and the gathering water energy increased, the
energy that couldn't yet penetrate her body transforming into rings of aquamarine light around her.
This was the formidable power of a Heavenly Spiritual Root.
Cultivation involves absorbing the spiritual energy of heaven and earth to temper the spiritual root, allowing it to grow. The type of spiritual root determines
the type of spiritual energy it absorbs. When the spiritual root grows to a certain level, the cultivator's cultivation level rises to a higher level.
Mixed-elemental cultivators absorb spiritual energy of multiple attributes, but the total amount of spiritual energy absorbed by cultivators of the same level is roughly the
same. The more spiritual roots one has, the more mixed the spiritual energy absorbed, requiring a significant amount of time to separate the spiritual energy. Since the total amount
is fixed, each spiritual root receives less spiritual energy, resulting in slower advancement.
While heterogeneous spiritual roots are a variation of dual-elemental roots, they still absorb spiritual energy of a single attribute. Therefore, their cultivation speed
is incomparable to that of dual-elemental roots. Unfortunately, heterogeneous spiritual roots are still essentially dual-elemental roots, requiring both to
grow simultaneously for advancement, making them inferior to celestial spiritual roots in this aspect.
Celestial spiritual root cultivators absorb only spiritual energy of a single attribute, saving the effort of separating spiritual energy, and
only need to cultivate one type of spiritual root, resulting in astonishingly fast cultivation speed.
Li Xueqing, sitting cross-legged with her eyes closed, initially knew she was in a cave. However, as she absorbed spiritual energy
and her mind settled, she gradually felt herself floating in an endless expanse of water. The water seemed to
favor her, surrounding and touching her, and she even faintly heard a voice in the water telling her, "I'll be
waiting for you 'there'..."
(Where?) The voice didn't reappear, but Li Xueqing awoke with a start.
"Huh?" The girl opened her eyes, looking around suspiciously. Finding nothing amiss, she once again immersed herself
in what seemed like a rather interesting cultivation practice.
The man who had used the mid-grade magic artifact "Dragon-Severing Wall" to separate the cave from the outside sat inside, tossed out a moonstone for lighting
, touched his storage bag, and sighed. He had spent all his savings to buy those two cultivation manuals and the Bigu Pill.
The Five Elements Basic Cultivation Technique of the thirteenth level of Qi Refining, "Mysterious Water Technique," was priced at fifty spirit stones.
The Qi Refining section of the essential furnace cultivation technique, "Yin Yang Furnace Technique," was priced at seventy spirit stones. One hundred Bigu Pills cost ten spirit stones each, totaling one hundred and thirty low-grade
spirit stones. This instantly emptied his savings as a rogue cultivator, leaving only a few spirit stones lying forlornly
in his storage bag.
But for Li Xueqing, he was willing to risk it all!
A furnace with a True Water Spirit Root was like having an inexhaustible supply of elixirs. Not to mention Foundation Establishment, advancing to Core Formation
might not be out of the question. Would he still be afraid of running out of spirit stones then?
Despite his excitement, the man didn't forget his main purpose. He planned to try to break through his bottleneck again, attempting
to raise his seventh level of cultivation to the eighth level. If successful, Li Xueqing's virgin yin essence could be preserved
, and it might even be used as a Foundation Establishment Pill.
On either side of the Broken Dragon Wall, two people were immersed in cultivation for different reasons. Li
Xueqing was the first to interrupt, because she was hungry.
"Can this stuff really last a day?" Li Xueqing looked at the brown pill in her hand with suspicion. Apart from its fragrant
aroma, it looked no different from the pills she had taken when she was sick in the past.
"I have no choice... I'll give it a try." Having no confidence in breaking through the Dragon-Slaying Wall, she had no choice but to try anything
. As
soon as the Bigu Pill went down her throat, it transformed into a warm current filling her chest and abdomen. Her previously rumbling stomach actually
stopped feeling hungry, and a sliver of strength surged up, even more effective than a full meal.
"It really works... If we had this before, what would we have to fear from famine and drought!" Li Xueqing muttered.
"It's a pity it tastes bad."
Little did she know that although the Bigu Pill was the lowest-grade spiritual pill, its ingredients were still extremely valuable medicinal herbs.
The value of one Bigu Pill was enough to feed hundreds of people with worldly food. If one was so wealthy as to use Bigu Pills to save the world
, they might as well just throw money around.
This was just a low-grade fasting pill with an effect lasting one day; there was also a high-grade fasting pill with an effect lasting one month, and its value would be even
higher.
Looking at the sealed depths of the cave, and then at the cave entrance with its sheer cliff, Li Xueqing sighed and
continued cultivating. She
had only just completed the first level when she was awakened by hunger, and didn't have time to cultivate the second level…
If other cultivators heard her lament, a large number of them would probably die of anger on the spot, and the rest would spit out
blood and lose a layer of cultivation. Completing the first level in less
than a day—that's monstrous! But what was even more infuriating was yet to come. The second level, the Profound Water Technique, Li Xueqing also completed in less than a day
. What would take an ordinary cultivator a year to cultivate, she mastered in a day and a half.
Besides the factor of her Heavenly Spiritual Root, this was also due to her wondrous meditative state. This kind of
deep meditation, very close to enlightenment, might only be understood by one in a thousand people, but every cultivator who did understand it experienced a significant improvement in their cultivation.
Her progress was rapid. This ability, which had already shown its potential when she left Green Water Village, finally came in handy
, allowing her to cultivate to the second level of Qi Refining at a speed rarely seen even among Heavenly Spirit Root cultivators.
"Huh? That's it?" Li Xueqing flipped through the Profound Water Manual, feeling that there should be more to come, but it seemed as if
it had been torn away.
Of course, the Profound Water Manual wasn't just two levels; all the basic Five Elements cultivation techniques had thirteen levels. However, the man was afraid that Li Xueqing's cultivation
speed was too fast and he wouldn't be able to keep up with her, so he only gave her the first two levels. Anyway, his True Water Spirit Root Furnace only
needed to reach the Qi Refining stage to be effective; the only difference was the amount of True Essence.
But he, who was breaking through the bottleneck of the eighth level, never expected that Li Xueqing would have completed the second level so quickly, while
it would take him at least five days to break through the bottleneck.
"Alright, let's look at another one." Li Xueqing picked up the Yin Yang Furnace Manual and was delighted to find that it was much thicker.
"Yang is the furnace, Yin is the cauldron; Heaven is the furnace, Earth is the cauldron, the world is the furnace, and humanity is the cauldron. Transforming into one elixir, the Great Dao is naturally
formed…
Foundation Building Chapter:
Humans are born with the essence of Heaven and Earth, inherently vessels of Yin and Yang harmony. However, as the body grows, the primordial essence dissipates, and when it is completely depleted, life
ends. This is why lifespan is short.
Cultivating immortality is the Dao. Absorbing the Qi of Heaven and Earth to replenish innate Qi is the superior method; absorbing the Qi of the world to replenish acquired Qi is the middle method
; absorbing acquired Qi to replenish acquired Qi is the inferior method.
The superior method is the strongest and most difficult, the inferior method is the weakest but easiest, yet the principle of Qi absorption is the same…"
The general outline and Foundation Building Chapter, a mere few hundred words, all spoke of "Qi absorption," leaving Li Xueqing with a vague understanding.
(Anyway… I should just start practicing from the beginning!) Li Xueqing thought, unaware that this decision would lead her onto
a path of immortal cultivation that hadn't been trodden for over ten thousand years.
Having already reached the second level of cultivation, the first and second levels of the techniques were effortless to practice. However,
when attempting to break through to the third level, she encountered a bottleneck. No matter how she followed the techniques in the book, the fine, hair-like qi within her body simply wouldn't
circulate according to the methods.
Li Xueqing didn't give up; she simply circulated the techniques again and again.
"Splash, splash, splash..." Rain began to fall outside the cave, the raindrops pattering
softly in the mountain wind.
Although she had embarked on the path of cultivation, Li Xueqing's consciousness, still at a very low level, couldn't leave her body. Listening to
the sound of the rain outside, her mind gradually entered another wondrous realm.
In that world, Li Xueqing was no longer Li Xueqing, but a raindrop falling from the dark clouds covering the sky
, colliding, combining, or splitting with other raindrops due to the wind, all while continuously falling downwards.
Li Xueqing did not resist the pull of the wind and the earth, dancing in the air like other water droplets. Watching
the ground draw ever closer, a sudden gust of wind propelled her into a cave on a cliff.
"Splash!" Rain fell into the cave, and in her final moments, she saw herself enveloped in countless azure spiritual energies
.
"Splash!" The instant her consciousness returned to her body, her previously uncontrollable true energy seemed to break free of some shackle
, rapidly circulating along the meridians of the third level of the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique, completing a full
cycle in just a few breaths.
At this moment, Li Xueqing, having broken through to the third level of the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique, became the only Shunxiu in the human realm!
Shunxiu, referred to in ancient texts as "Ancient Shunxiu," were the earliest cultivators. They founded the world's earliest
cultivation sect, the Heavenly Dao Holy Sect, developing various cultivation techniques, methods, magical treasures, and elixirs… But
the once-prosperous Shunxiu were swallowed by the torrent of history, leaving behind only treasures coveted by all.
Among Shunxiu's legacies, the *Yin Yang Furnace Technique* is a major anomaly. From ancient times to the present, it has been regarded as a dual cultivation furnace
technique, yet no one recognizes that it was once Shunxiu's primary cultivation method, and
one of the original three great techniques.
It's not that no one wanted to use it as their primary cultivation method; after all, it's the cheapest and most widely circulated
technique in the cultivation world, allowing cultivation from the Qi Refining stage to the Nascent Soul stage, and there are even legends of a Deity Transformation stage technique. However, countless
people who attempted to cultivate it ultimately gave up the idea.
The reason lies in its several almost insurmountable bottlenecks. The first bottleneck appears
between the second and third levels of Qi Refining, and breaking through it is almost equivalent to Core Formation. If it were only that, perhaps some exceptional talents among rogue cultivators
would want to challenge it. What truly reduced it to a furnace technique is the Core Formation bottleneck, whose difficulty rivals that of Deity Transformation!
There are countless cultivators, but only a handful reach Deity Transformation. Even cultivators with Heavenly Spiritual Roots rarely touch that threshold, let alone
ordinary cultivators.
A cultivator with a Heavenly Spirit Root might get stuck at the Core Formation stage while practicing the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique
, remaining a late-stage Foundation Establishment cultivator for life. However, with other cultivation methods, reaching the Core Formation or Nascent Soul stages is just around the corner. What fool would choose to practice
the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique?
Moreover, this technique has a unique feature: it can be practiced in stages. Therefore, although many
female cultivators who are considered furnaces practice the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique, almost all of them switch to other techniques when they encounter these two hurdles, and then
return to the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique. As a result, shops in the market sell the Yin-Yang Furnace
Technique in stages: Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, and Core Formation. As for the Nascent Soul stage, only Deity Transformation cultivators would buy it, so nobody would
sell it at a loss—it would just take up space on the shelves!
A cool, refreshing water-like energy flowed along the meridians of the third level of the cultivation technique, cleansing the girl's already excellent physique
and giving her a completely refreshed feeling from the inside out. She also exuded a delicate and ethereal aura. If the yellow-bearded man
were present, he would recognize this aura as the very same wondrous
charm that had amazed him and made him desperately pray it wouldn't disappear.
At that time, having created the illusion of the river, she had already stepped halfway into the world of cultivation, qualifying her as a "half-
level Qi Refining" cultivator. The subsequent meditation training further solidified her foundation in meditation, and coupled with
the superior nature of her True Heavenly Spiritual Root, she overcame a bottleneck that was extremely difficult even in the ancient era of cultivation:
"Sensing!"
"Sensing" refers to sensing the meridians of the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. In the current cultivation world, this task
is only encountered in the late Foundation Establishment stage when attempting to form the Core, but the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique allows it as early as the second level of Qi Refining, which is why breaking through the bottleneck
is so difficult.
The benefits of the breakthrough were immense. Li Xueqing felt the water-based spiritual energy around her was so clear it seemed she
could touch it. Her senses were also much stronger than in the second level. By focusing her true essence into her eyes, she
could even "stop" seeing the raindrops outside.
What delighted her even more was that she finally had divine sense!
For cultivators, divine sense was a more reliable sense than sight and hearing. Both the Profound Water Technique and the Yin-Yang Furnace Technique
described it, but Li Xueqing's cultivation in the second level was too low. Not only could her divine sense not leave her body, but even her internal vision
was problematic. Now, after advancing to the third level, she could finally barely cover a half-foot radius around herself with her divine sense
!
Li Xueqing happily used her divine sense to examine everything within that half-foot radius, completely unaware of the approaching darkness. Only after she
had had her fill of playing did she realize that the entire cave was pitch black, so dark she couldn't see her hand in front of her face.
"Ah!" Li Xueqing's heart skipped a beat. If it weren't for her divine sense, she might have thought she had gone blind
.
"It's...it's evening?" She channeled her third-level Qi Refining stage true essence into her eyes, but could only barely see her own waving,
delicate white hands.
"Sleep...sleep...it's evening...it's time to sleep...it's so dark..." Li Xueqing tried to hypnotize herself, but
the fear in her heart only grew stronger. Who could sleep in this cave on a cliff in this desolate wilderness?
"I want to go back...Father...Mother...Da Niu...Er Niu...Ling Bo..." Li Xueqing huddled in a corner of the cave, her eyes tightly
shut, burying her head between her legs like an ostrich. She clutched the clothes the man had thrown at her, covering herself,
her body trembling slightly.
With her third-level Qi Refining stage cultivation, she could already largely ignore the cold and heat, but this was an inner chill, not something cultivation
could remove.
Finally, the sunrise arrived. The girl stood at the cave entrance, excitedly watching the rising sun. She had never been so grateful for
its existence. A surge of intense emotion brought tears to her eyes. In her overwhelming excitement, she failed to notice that her true
essence was circulating on its own, and that subtle streams of water-based spiritual energy were actively entering her body.
Even if she had noticed, Li Xueqing wouldn't have found it strange, given her extremely weak foundation in cultivation.
For cultivators, unless they were in places with abundant spiritual energy like spiritual veins, spiritual energy wouldn't actively seep
into their bodies. This is because cultivators possess a large amount of spiritual energy within them, while the surrounding spiritual energy is sparse; simply preventing the
loss of spiritual energy is already a significant achievement.
However, there is a group of people who, regardless of their cultivation level or the abundance of spiritual energy in their surroundings,
experience an active influx of external spiritual energy into their bodies. Therefore, they never need to worry about accumulating spiritual power—
this group is the Ancient Shun Cultivators.
(By the way, let me explain the system of measurement in this world.)
In terms of weight: 1 jin = 16 liang = 500 grams (so 1 liang = 32.25 grams)
30 jin = 1 jun = 15 kilograms
4 jun = 1 shi = 60 kilograms
The conversion between jin, jun, and shi follows the ancient system, but 1 jin of 500 grams uses the modern Chinese "jin"
not the Chinese jin of the Qing Dynasty or the Taiwanese jin (600 grams).
Below liang are "qian" and "fen", both decimal, 10 fen = 1 qian, 10 qian = 1 liang.
In terms of length:
1 chi = 10 cun = 30 centimeters (1 cun = 3 centimeters)
1 zhang = 10 chi = 300 centimeters
1 li = 500 meters
The indivisibility between li and chi is because ancient China did not seem to use these two as a unit of measurement.
The relatively rare "yin" = 10 zhang.
In terms of volume:
1 liter = 10 he = 1 liter;
1 dou = 10 liters;
1 hu = 10 dou.
The conversion between liters and saturates still uses the modern Chinese system. In ancient times, 1 liter was approximately 200
milliliters, while in modern South Korea and Japan, a liter is about 1.8 liters.
In terms of area: (mainly used for land, not buildings)
1 mu = 10 fen = 1 aremu;
1 qing = 100 mu = 1 hectare.
All of these use the metric system, but without the word "gong" (公)
.
