The Legend of the Mage (Chapter 3)

Chapter 3: Jungle Adventure
After a series of verbal and physical exchanges, Lin Mo got up feeling refreshed,
stretched her limbs, bent over, and did a set of the seventh set of broadcast gymnastics. A smooth little hand tugged at Lin Mo's "Scottish-style skirt" around her waist
. Oh, it was just her imagination. She ignored her and continued doing her eye exercises.
"Little brother Lin, I'm so hungry..." A pair of pitiful big eyes stared at Lin Mo like a cat.
Lin Mo sighed and turned around. "You're the older sister, you should take care of your younger brother." His words
only earned him an even more aggrieved expression. Lin Mo patted his forehead, looking defeated. "Fine, fine,
I'll go find something to eat. Sigh... men are just destined to be busy." "
Good sister, you stay here and watch the fire, don't let it go out. I'll go find something to eat and be back soon. Don't
wander off." Lin Mo whispered in Serena's ear. The little girl blushed from her ears to her neck.
Lin Mo affectionately ruffled her long purple hair and began packing her things.
Soon, Lin Mo finished packing the necessary equipment, carefully hoisted it onto his back, picked up
the branches he would use to explore the cave, and strode out. He hadn't gone far when a soft call came, "Little Brother Lin." Turning
around, he saw Serena standing beside the cave entrance, her hand on the cliff face, gazing at him with a
hint of longing in her almond-shaped eyes. "You must come back soon. I'll be waiting for you here." Lin Mo froze. Serena's words, like those of a
husband bidding farewell to his wife on a long journey, suddenly filled him with a pang of sadness. He knew he might never return to the continent of Faer?n,
but he would forever remember this scene, remember Serena's youthful innocence. And the beautiful figure…
Lin Mo smiled gently at her, “Yes, I’ll be back soon, I promise…” Lin Mo
waved to Serena, turned and continued forward. Damn, this little girl, she’s so touching; soon Serena’s figure
was hidden by layers of trees. Lin Mo first arrived at the beach where he had been stranded that morning. Fortunately, Lin Mo’s lifeboat
was still there, only a corner was submerged by sand. Lin Mo took out all the drawers in the table, selected
the most intact one, and stuffed goose down into the gaps, intending to use it as a water tank. After all, he was just a novice
magic apprentice and did not know how to create water.
"Where can I find a woman? Brother Zeng points to Li Yuchun. Oh dear, so wet, so wet!" Lin Mo shook his head and
walked into the jungle. His limited field of vision was filled with tall tropical plants. Overhead, lush canopies and
dense foliage completely blocked out the sky. Sunlight could only filter through gaps, sparsely
illuminating the ground. Through the light, he could see wisps of mist evaporating from below. The ground was covered with a
thick layer of dead leaves, accumulated over the years, almost completely covering the ground. Walking on it, one couldn't feel the dampness underfoot.
The sound of crunching dead branches and leaves echoed through the air; Lin Mo parted the drooping vines, causing the branches
to sway and rustle, startling several birds and breaking the silence of the jungle. Every few steps,
several dead trees lay scattered on the ground, their heartwood long since rotten, their bark covered in moss; ants
, beetles, and other tiny creatures Lin Mo had never seen before scurried about among the decaying trunks, a bustling
scene. In the narrow, damp, shady area formed by the tree trunks and the ground, clusters of mushroom-like plants... Fungal
polymers and some novel epiphytes grew freely within it. Because it was an unknown world,
Lin Mo wasn't sure if these mushroom-like creatures were edible;
his knowledge of wild mushroom identification from his previous life on Earth was useless. After much hesitation, Lin Mo decided to give up, as his life was more important. Lin Mo
walked cautiously, carefully observing everything around him, judging from the marks on tree trunks and the ground for
signs of swamps or large animals. At the same time, he firmly poked
marks into the tree trunks beside him with his stick as markers, both to help him return the way he came and to prevent himself from getting lost in the jungle—a phenomenon
commonly known as "being trapped in a maze."
Gradually, the forest became denser, and the sound of waves crashing against the rocks in the distance disappeared. The jungle became
even darker, hotter, and more humid. Lin Mo wiped the sweat from his brow, becoming even more cautious. But he
was, after all, a nine-year-old child with limited stamina; walking continuously in the jungle for half an hour was already his limit.
He observed his surroundings but found nothing suspicious.
"It should be relatively safe." Lin Mo spotted a tropical plant with a slightly leaning trunk, quickly walked
to its base, and planned to rest there. He swept away the fallen leaves and branches, put his backpack down, turned around, and
habitually slammed his stick into the tree. With a "thud," the stick penetrated deep into the wood
, catching Lin Mo off guard and causing him to fall to his backside.
A long-awaited ray of sunlight suddenly shone onto the dim ground, the sudden brightness almost blinding.
Lin Mo couldn't help but squint. A series of teeth-grinding crackling sounds
grew louder as the plants snapped and groaned, and fine cracks began to appear on the ground.
Lin Mo's expression changed drastically. Without even standing up, he hooked his toes around his bundle and scrambled to the
side with all his might. A deafening roar followed, and his vision suddenly opened up. Lin Mo was pale, gasping for
breath, his back drenched in cold sweat. The large tree he had chosen as his resting spot was now broken into several pieces, its
branches... Fallen leaves fluttered everywhere, the pale roots of the trees, some exposed to the sunlight, others buried underground, filled the air with
the stench of decay. A large pit was exposed in the ground, fresh soil scattered everywhere. It turned out that the
large tree Lin Mo had chosen was already dead and rotten, just an empty shell; and the stick Lin Mo had used as a marker had become
the final straw that broke the camel's back. Realizing the situation, Lin Mo couldn't help but secretly exclaim how lucky he was.
Having caused such a commotion, it was clear he couldn't stay here any longer. Lin Mo scrambled to his feet, ignoring his dust and grime
, tied his bundle securely on his back, pulled the stick from the tree trunk, and was about to leave when a cacophony of noises
erupted overhead, and the light dimmed instantly. Looking up, Lin Mo saw countless birds, their
shapes, appearances, and plumage colors vastly different from those on Earth, blotting out the sky. This enormous flock had been
startled by the loud crash of the falling tree. A shower of bird droppings pelted him, and Lin Mo scrambled to his feet, utterly disheveled.
Lin Mo hid under a tree, panting heavily. The startled flock of birds gradually calmed down and scattered.
Lin Mo calmed his breathing, feeling he had regained some strength, and got up to continue. "Truly, bad luck
," he muttered to himself, silently praying for good fortune. He casually plucked a feather covered in bird droppings from his hair and tossed it aside.
Suddenly, Lin Mo seemed to remember something, turned back to the canopy of the fallen tree, and carefully searched among the haphazard branches
. Sure enough, among the scattered leaves, Lin Mo found what he was looking for—a bird's nest
. Not bad luck at all. From the broken bird nests, Lin Mo found two intact bird eggs and carefully
put them into his pack…
After traversing a large area of the forest, Lin Mo sadly discovered that his survival skills from Earth were now practically
useless. He couldn't identify the various strange plants and animals; his only gain was
the two bird eggs he had found in the trees earlier. Through the clearing in the forest, he could clearly see the sun setting in the west, and
it was getting late. No, he had to think of a way; Serena was still waiting for him, and he had to get out of the forest before dark
. Lin Mo sat down, took out his spellbook from his backpack, and looked at the only four spells on it, quietly pondering
.
"There is no such thing as useless magic in this world; it's just that you haven't chosen the right spell at the right time
."
"A magician's strength lies not in the power of magic, but in our minds and wisdom."
"Love magic itself. Don't just treat it as a weapon to transform the world into whatever you desire
. True wisdom is understanding, not using, magic."... The teachings he had seen and heard throughout his past and present lives
flowed slowly through his heart. He smiled smugly, "Yes, I am a magician, the embodiment of beauty and wisdom
! How could I be stopped by such a small difficulty?" As the sun set, flocks of birds returned to their nests. Lin Mo
had a flash of inspiration! He took out a specially made light feather from his backpack, opened his spellbook, closed his eyes, and
meditated. A silver network began to appear in the darkness, with streams of magical energy rapidly flowing across it, occasionally
emitting bursts of seven-colored light; this was the magic network, the source of a magician's power, and also the incarnation of the goddess of magic, Mysra
. Lin Mo recalled the key points of casting the spell in his mind, preparing himself. He suddenly opened his eyes,
tossed the light feather in his hand above his head, pressed his left hand on the page of the book, drawing magic power from the magic net; his right hand rapidly
drew lines in the air, lines made of arcane powder began to appear, gradually forming a
magical pattern with a five-pointed star as its main element; the light feather floated down from the air, and when it landed in the center of the magic circle, a rapid,
low, and difficult incantation rang out from Lin Mo's mouth. His right hand suddenly clenched, "Light as a feather!" The magic
circle in the air emitted a soft light, and the light feather within instantly decomposed into tiny particles, merging with the arcane powder
to form a shimmering band of light that circled down from the air; Lin Mo watched this magical scene, only to see
the band of light circle around him once, a bright light flashed, and instantly transformed into countless fluorescent particles that adhered to his entire body
.
Lin Mo stood up from the ground, clearly having successfully cast the "Feather Fall Technique." He swung his arms, jumped upwards, and confirmed that the
spell could indeed alter a person's weight. Lin Mo felt more confident about his plan. He walked to
a tree, used the trunk for leverage, and immediately floated upwards. "Hahaha, I'm a
martial arts master with light footwork!" Lin Mo laughed arrogantly several times. He was indeed a genius, going against the grain; others used it to descend
, he used it to ascend! He lightly touched the branches with his hands and feet, tracing a graceful silhouette through the air.
The treetops were filled with bird nests of all sizes, countless birds flapping their wings,
feeding their chicks—a scene brimming with life. Suddenly, a figure appeared in the treetops, a lewd grin on his face,
reaching for the rear end of a mother bird incubating her eggs, startling countless warblers.
Lin Mo quickly collected dozens of bird eggs of various sizes and was about to return when he noticed
wisps of mist rising intermittently from the mountainside not far away. Could someone be there? Startled, Lin Mo hesitated for a moment, then lightly
tapped a branch and drifted towards the source of the smoke.
About 500 meters away, Lin Mo landed. The trees thinned out, while
unknown wild grasses grew lush. Large rocks began to appear on the ground, and a
stream meandered down between the rocks and grass, wisps of steam rising from its surface. Lin Mo dipped his hand into the water; it was warm and carried a faint
smell of sulfur. So that's it! This mountain must have been a volcano tens of thousands of years ago, and this Misty Island was
a product of the volcanic eruption. The ghost reefs surrounding the island were likely formed from lava that flowed into the sea and solidified. This
spring must also be a geothermal hot spring; the place where the smoke had risen was probably the source of this spring
.
Lin Mo climbed up the mountain, thinking to himself as he went: In a few days, he would move here with Serena.
The scenery here was beautiful, with hot springs. He would build a thatched hut, and Serena and he could take a bath together in it.
He would use the mud from the bottom of the water to give the little girl a skin treatment, let her give him a breast massage, and do other things that everyone loves to do
. He imagined Serena standing in the hot spring, water droplets sliding across her wild, purple, silky skin, her coy
and shy demeanor full of allure. "Oh, yes!" Lin Mo grinned lewdly, drool dripping from his mouth.
Nearing the halfway point, the stream's temperature gradually rose, and mist filled the air. Passing through a grove of trees and bushes,
a pool several hundred meters in diameter appeared before him. Mist swirled on the surface, and bubbles occasionally
rose from the depths, bursting and releasing a pungent sulfurous odor. Lin Mo walked along the lakeshore, the light gradually dimming
, and a cold wind occasionally blew by. Lin Mo began to sense something was amiss. The pool was surrounded by
soft, sandy beaches made of volcanic ash, yet there was no sign of birds or wild animals. Lin Mo pulled out his spellbook,
cautiously on guard. Suddenly, a strange song echoed from the misty water: "anar
alah" anar alah" belore" sin dorei" ei
"ei" shindu" fallahna." sin dorei" rei" a
nar alah" ah" shindu" sin dorei" shindu
" fallahna" sin dorei" anar alahbelore
" bel" lore" bel" anar" alah" belore" sin
do" shindu" sin dorei" shindu" fallahna
" sin dorei" anar alahbelore" belore" "
This is a mournful song. Lin Mo didn't understand its meaning. He hid behind a rock,
peeking out cautiously. Just then, a gust of wind blew away a corner of the mist from the lake, revealing a voluptuous and mature
body. The mist obscured her face, revealing only her sexy red lips and delicate chin. Her dark green
hair, with natural curls, cascaded loosely over her shoulders and chest, adding to her mature charm. Her wheat-colored
skin was covered with water droplets, which shone with a metallic sheen in the setting sun. Her two slender arms
scooped up a handful of water from the lake, squeezing her breasts into a breathtaking curve. With a gentle splash, her
taut breasts instantly returned to their firm peaks, bouncing to the sides and creating ripples. Water flowed down, forming a curtain of water
on her breasts, which were too large to be grasped with one hand. Lin Mo was mesmerized, and only
one sentence came to mind: 'Looking at the Lushan Waterfall.'"
The mist grew thicker, gradually enveloping the alluring beauty. "Damn it, don't block my view of the ball!" Lin
Mo thought anxiously. As if hearing his prayer, a gust of wind split the mist in two. Lin Mo was overjoyed, preparing
to catch a glimpse of the beauty's face, but only wisps of ripples remained above the water, and the beauty had vanished without a trace.
