"All Is Said" - 51

The boy hiccuped intermittently, which affected the fluency of his speech, but he still managed to express what he knew clearly. Tang Xian's anger burned even more fiercely; the veins on the back of his hand, resting on the steering wheel, bulged out.
Candy, of course, sensed his brother's anger. Though exhausted, he dared not sleep any longer. He huddled against the car window, glancing every now and then at Tang Xian, who was sulking. Finally, he couldn't help but ask, "Brother, where are we going?"
Tang Xian then realized that he didn't know where to take Reese. He couldn't bear to wake her, so he called Pete, knowing Pete was staying with his lover Amy and should know about Reese's situation.
As a result, Amy was in an uproar, repeatedly urging Tang Xian to send Reese to her place first.
Tang Xian's mind cleared up a bit after hanging up the phone. He found some wet wipes and tossed them to Candy, telling her to wipe her smeared face. The little boy then realized he needed to look in the mirror, but upon seeing his reflection, he couldn't help but cry out, "Ah! How did I end up like this..." But when his older brother gave him a cold glance, he immediately shut up, and the hiccups he had managed to suppress started coming out again.
After driving out of the suburbs, they stopped at a roadside gas station to refuel and buy some food. Just as Tang Xian was about to get out of the car, a man ran out of the convenience store, darted to the car window, and started banging on it while shouting, "Tang Tang, what the hell is going on?!"
It took the Tang brothers a while to recognize that the man with the messy hair and dark circles under his eyes was Bai Xu. They stared at him blankly. No one understood how he had ended up here, and in such a disheveled state.
"Brother Bai Xu, what brings you here?" The boy opened the car window, but Bai Xu grabbed his collar and pulled his upper body out of the car. He immediately cried out in pain, "Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!"
"What happened? Where's Reese?" Bai Xu asked the two people in the front row anxiously, not seeing the girl lying in the back row.
He received a phone call in the middle of the night, which was abruptly ended without explanation, ruining the atmosphere of his date with the girl. The girl wrapped her arms around his neck, wanting to get closer, but all he saw was that clueless girl. Finally, he lost interest in playing around anymore, drove off, and tried to call Tang Xian and Tang Tang, but both their phones were unreachable! The address Ruixi gave him was unclear, and he drove around Nanhe Third Village without finding it. He grew increasingly anxious, and his phone was dead. After a whole night of this, he had just stopped at a gas station to rest when he saw Tang Xian's car pull up.
"It's nothing, they were locked up, but I found them and brought them back." Tang Xian hadn't expected Reese to call Bai Xu, something Tang Tang didn't know and hadn't told him. He instantly guessed that Bai Xu and Reese's relationship wasn't just a simple acquaintance. He glared at his younger brother, who was about to speak, signaling him to shut up, not wanting to cause any more trouble.
"Are you really alright?" Bai Xu also saw Reese lying in the back and noticed that she looked very unwell.
"It's nothing..." Tang Tang really wanted to act cute with Bai Xu, but now he was more afraid of offending his brother. Since Tang Xian forced him to say that, he could only do as he was told.
Bai Xu stared at Tang Tang's pouting expression and sensed that things weren't so simple. He saw the girl in the back seat and offered to take her home. Tang Xian politely declined, saying he would get Reese home safely, and drove off without waiting for his friend.
By the time Bai Xu realized what was happening and tried to chase after him in his car, Tang Xian had already vanished. He angrily kicked a nearby pillar, but instead hurt his own foot. What was this all about? He'd suddenly received a strange phone call, then spent the entire night frantically searching house to house near Nanhe Third Village. When he finally found him, they'd said he was alright.
"Damn it, why bother with all their business!" He grumbled as he got into his car and went home to sleep.
When Reese opened her eyes again, she had been sleeping at Amy's house for a whole day. Amy was still a patient, but the nanny they hired had been taking care of Reese. When Tang Xian brought her there, her body was in a terrible state, and Amy slapped Tang Xian on the spot. Tang Xian simply apologized and left. He was in a hurry to go home and deal with Tang Tang, something Amy didn't know. She just felt that the man had abused Reese beyond recognition and then left with a single sentence. If Pete hadn't stopped her, Amy would have already grabbed a kitchen knife and chased after him.
“Your mom called to ask why you weren’t back. Luckily, I was quick-witted and covered for you, otherwise Aunt Cheng would have been worried sick. She thinks you’ve been with me these past few days. Give her a call later…”
Reese lay in bed, still feeling dizzy and aching all over. She told Amy that Tang Xian and Tang Tang weren't to blame; if anyone was to blame, it was herself.
"That's just how you are! You're so soft-hearted, you always end up getting the short end of the stick. Look at the state you've become!" Amy nagged for a long time, both angry and heartbroken.
Reese couldn't help but laugh as she watched Amy glare at her, spouting insults with great enthusiasm. This was the kind of older sister she loved most. Amy, however, couldn't stand Reese's overly agreeable nature and warned her that if she continued like this, she'd be in big trouble sooner or later.
“Does it even matter sooner or later? I’m already in a terrible situation…” Reese said with a smile, then sighed. Then both girls fell silent.
Their backgrounds shaped their attitudes towards life: melancholic, insecure, pessimistic, and passive. Neither of them brought up the matter again. Reese rested at Amy's house for another day, and once she had recovered and showed no signs of illness, she went home. So much had happened to her, and now she didn't want to dwell on whose fault it was. Immersing herself in sadness would only make her more depressed, so the only thing she could do now was to forget those unhappy memories and return to her normal life as soon as possible.
Cheng Jiayi felt something was amiss, but trusting Reese, she didn't ask any further questions. Ye Ping left a message on her phone, saying that Tang Xian had asked her to call in sick for her. Reese replied that she would go to class the next day.
Reese slept at home for the night and prepared to go to school the next day. She just wanted to avoid people she didn't want to see, but as soon as she left the classroom, she noticed a strange boy sitting next to her, gazing out the window. Before she could even ask why, the boy turned to look at her, and those green eyes looked strangely familiar.
Reese wondered where she had seen him before, when she heard the boy call her "Reese." The sound made her eyes nearly pop out of their sockets; she couldn't believe what she was seeing.
Author's comment: Hehe, the intense conflict you all expected didn't happen!
Now that we're back on campus, Tangtang is back in class, it'll be lively again!
Of the three male leads, he's my favorite!
