parents had long since passed away, and he lived a simple life with only an old ox, working from sunrise to sunset.
One afternoon, the Cowherd was resting under a tree by the Milky Way when a melodious tune drifted up from the sky,

filling the air with a sweet fragrance. Then came the sounds of women playing, growing louder as they approached. Curious, the Cowherd quickly hid among the

reeds, secretly observing the source of the sound.
A moment later, he saw seven beautiful women descend from the sky. Each woman was stunningly beautiful,

with graceful figures , each possessing a unique charm. The Cowherd stared, mesmerized. When the women reached the Milky Way's edge

, they began to remove their clothes amidst their playful antics, leaping one after another into the clear stream to bathe and frolic. None of them

noticed the Cowherd peeking from the reeds.
As the women's garments loosened, revealing their smooth, jade-like skin, full, firm breasts, and glossy

black downy hair… the sight of beauties like clouds and legs like a forest was breathtaking. The Cowherd was overwhelmed by

The Cowherd placed the clothes he had retrieved in the reeds, then went to the bank. He saw the Weaver Girl's beautiful and intelligent face,

truly as described in the poem:
"Red rain, spring waves, the moon's first light, Chang'e intentionally shines on the clear stream;
Her shy, understanding nature is beyond compare, Her heavenly fragrance is no exaggeration.

The Cowherd was stunned, speechless for a long time.
Seeing the Cowherd staring so intently, the Weaver Girl blushed even more, stammering, "Hey! Please, have mercy,

give me back my clothes, okay?"
The Cowherd then came to his senses, grinning, and said, "My name is Cowherd, not 'Hey.' What's your

name?" "And who are you?"
the Weaver Girl asked. "My name is Weaver Girl. We are the Seven Fairy Maidens of Heaven, weaving colorful clothes for the gods and star lords

The Cowherd returned home, holding his motherless children, and wept bitterly. At this moment, the old ox in his house suddenly

spoke a human voice, saying, "Cowherd, I am dying soon! After I die, skin me and wear my hide, and you can

go to Heaven." After saying this, the old ox immediately died.
The Cowherd, with tears in his eyes, put on the old ox's hide and continued his pursuit with his children. This time, he indeed reached Heaven, reached

one side of the Milky Way, and gazed at the Weaver Girl on the other side. The children cried out joyfully, "Mama! Mama!"

But the Weaver Girl could only weep as she faced the Cowherd and their children across the Milky Way. The river's waters were turbulent, making it impossible for the Cowherd and his

children to cross, and the Weaver Girl could not come either; thus, a family was torn apart.
The Weaver Girl, weeping day and night, became haggard and worn. The Queen Mother of the West, seeing this, could not bear it. So she

went to see the Jade Emperor and pleaded for the Weaver Girl's life. The Jade Emperor then granted the Weaver Girl permission to meet the Cowherd once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month.
On this night of the seventh day of the seventh lunar month each year, countless magpies would form a long bridge across the Milky Way. The Cowherd

would then meet the Weaver Girl on the bridge with his children, pouring out their boundless love. From then on, the Cowherd and his children lived in

the heavens, gazing at the Weaver Girl from afar across the Milky Way.
