Alibuda Chronicles Part 2: Volume 3, Chapter 1

Chapter One: Failure

The peace talks were a complex undertaking, involving intricate relationships between nations and the interests of Alibuda itself, making it far more difficult than it appeared on the surface. Initially, I intended to remain uninvolved; aside from Yueying's personal safety, the success or failure of the talks was none of my concern.

However, the situation increasingly spiraled out of control. The King's decree and the intervention of the Pure Mind Zen Society were all unexpected developments. The unexpected military parade that devolved into a monster exhibition alone added further chaos to the entire affair. For

peace talks to escalate to the point of deploying biological weapons to demonstrate power was, in principle, absurd, but in terms of negotiation tactics, a necessary measure. Just as it's difficult to force a child to sit at the table and eat, Ishtar and Solancia were not willing to obediently sit at the negotiating table.

In any case, the military parade did indeed cause immense shock among the participating races. If the immense power displayed by the scorpion-shaped behemoth known as the "Heavenly Poisonous Scorpion" shocked and subjugated many small and medium-sized nations, then the fact that the beast tamers of the Pure Mind Zen Society could easily destroy the scorpion was a skill that even shocked the leaders of Ishtar and Solancia, forcing them to carefully consider their future choices.

"But are these the only ones who were scared?"

"Come to think of it, Uncle, when I saw those huge scorpions jumping around, my heart was pounding. Nephew, what about you? Did you feel like your pants were wet?"

"Go to hell! Your pants are wet! Get out of here! I don't want to share a carriage with a middle-aged man who wets his pants."

"But the carriage is moving... it seems to be going very fast..."

"Oh? So when you get to the underworld, you know how to explain your cause of death to King Yama, right?"

I kicked the middle-aged man next to me, who had his hands clasped together and a pleading expression on his face, and slammed the carriage door shut. I was thinking about the last time I was almost caught in bed with someone by Ryan and forced to agree to a request from Mao Yan'an. If I didn't find a chance to kill him soon, this blank check would really make me uneasy. But then again, if Mao Yan'an were so easy to deal with, I wouldn't have to rack my brains so much.

(The fact that they cultivated such a biological army without any warning shows the Purification Zen Society is quite powerful. Can Ryan control it? It's not just the guests at the parade who are shocked by the Purification Zen Society; I think even the Golden Flower Federation itself would find it difficult to calmly observe this. After all, excessive power is a double-edged sword. If the Purification Zen Society truly possesses over a thousand Heavenly Poisonous Scorpions, coupled with the assistance of experts from the Palace of Light, they could even rival the Golden Flower Federation for dominance over the land. How could Ryan not be wary? Of course, these assumptions depend on the true relationship between Ryan and the Purification Zen Society…) Thinking about these questions, I relaxed my exhausted body in the carriage. When I awoke, I was already back at the Duke's mansion. Logically, after that commotion, the Purification Zen Society should have become a hot topic, attracting everyone's attention, and shouldn't be attracting any attention for the time being. I didn't expect to have visitors, but as soon as I stepped off the carriage, another carriage pulled up from the opposite direction. The uninvited guest who alighted was none other than a distinguished guest I couldn't refuse—the third-ranking figure in the Palace of Light—Heart Lamp Hermit. "Nephew John, is Mr. Oren here?"

Mao Yan'an, huh? What Mr. Oren? His lies were so smooth. I truly hated this scoundrel Mao Yan'an. Because of his extensive connections, I now inexplicably felt inferior to everyone I met—it was utterly unreasonable.

Oh well, Neon is Heart Lamp's disciple. Although I've only been with my sister, given this relationship, calling him "Father-in-law" wouldn't be out of place. Let him be a generation younger! Anyway, we'll all benefit from each other; I wonder who benefits more.

I was about to tell him that Mao Yan'an hadn't returned yet, but then the gates of the Duke's mansion suddenly opened, and someone who shouldn't be here waved to Heart Lamp.

"Hey, you're late, aren't you? We've been waiting for you for ages, we

're one short for mahjong." Mao Yan'an poked his head out from behind the gate, and without a word, pulled Xin Deng Jushi into the mansion. A clattering sound followed.

Along with Uncle Fu and an old servant, these fellows actually set up a table right behind the gate and started playing mahjong. Judging from Xin Deng Jushi and Mao Yan'an's skillful and practiced handling of the tiles, it was surprising to see that besides their shared love of calligraphy and painting, they also used mahjong to strengthen their friendship.

"Jushi, you…"

"Oh, please don't mind. Basically, we think it's a very good way to promote friendship."

"But you're an important person in the Temple of Light, and I thought you enjoyed elegant poetry and painting."

"The Temple of Light is my sect, but I'm not a monk. Besides, poetry and painting can be combined with entertainment. Look at this phoenix on this tile, I painted it pretty well, didn't I? And that North Wind tile just now, that's the calligraphy Old Mao wrote last night."

"But this is my courtyard…"

"So we brought Uncle Fu along, that way we don't have to worry about entertaining him. Nephew, you go in and rest, don't worry about us." The

one who answered the last sentence wasn't Xin Deng Jushi, but Mao Yan'an.

I asked Mao Yan'an how he got back, and he said he met a kind person with a carriage and hitched a ride. This was obviously completely untrue, but I wasn't foolish enough to press him further. Observing his actions lately, I increasingly felt that his relationship with the Palace of Light was quite close. From his familiarity with Xin Deng Jushi, his concern and understanding of the Cihang Jingdian, and his long tenure as an official in the Golden Flower Federation, I guessed he might hold a high position in the Palace of Light. As for whether he was as weak as he appeared, that remained to be seen.

But regardless of where he went... Who exactly is she? If it weren't for the presence of the influential Master Xin Deng, I would have thrown these four mahjong buddies out long ago. Because Ah Xue is hiding in the manor, I don't want outsiders to have many opportunities to see her.

Tianhe Xueqiong has spent many years in seclusion on a solitary peak with the Divine Nun Xin Jian, so few people in the Palace of Light have seen her. It wasn't until her last and only descent from the mountain, passing through Alibuda, preparing to set sail, that her stunning beauty was revealed to the world.

But Master Xin Deng is the Divine Nun's junior brother; whether he has actually seen Tianhe Xueqiong, I have absolutely no idea.

I asked Ah Xue about this later. Resting in her room, she still looked innocent and adorable, happily rushing towards me.

"Master."

"Ouch, ouch, don't hug me so tightly! I just got back from a fight outside, it hurts so much, ouch..."

That's what I cried out, but the tight embrace of Ah Xue, enjoying the pressure of her high, full breasts, was a sweet pleasure I would never refuse.

Since we rarely left the house, Ah Xue wore simple loungewear. However, due to my personal preference, her tops were always cropped tank tops, revealing her flawless, white belly, with bra-like straps crisscrossing over her two plump, snowy mounds; a thin, sheer green gauze, like a gossamer wing, partially concealed them. Her large, round, snow-white breasts were fair and tender, making one both love and envy them.

Among the four celestial maidens—Wind, Flower, Snow, and Moon—the Dragon Maiden Li Huamei had the smoothest skin, Yueying's skin was incomparably delicate, and although I hadn't seen the Phoenix Maiden's beauty, I doubted she possessed such fair and tender skin as Ah Xue; this was something I had only recently realized.

The beauty, as lovely as jade, shyly wrapped her arms around my neck, softly telling me of her longing and loneliness, and the swelling and pain in her breasts from just finishing her magic practice. This enchanting scene was indeed very suggestive, but having just returned from the battlefield, I could only think of one thing.

No matter how you look at her, it doesn't feel real that Ah Xue has become a dark sorcerer. Not only does she lack the sinister aura expected of a dark sorcerer, but her clothing is also ridiculously conservative, completely unlike that vixen Narcissus, who is sexy and revealing, her

jewelry consisting of skull rings and dragon necklaces—you don't need a sign to know she's no saint. "Ah Xue, you're a dark sorcerer even the people of Ishtar fear now. You can't wear such tacky clothes anymore, looking like a whore. As soon as I get my salary, I'll get you a new outfit."

"Hmm? But I really like these clothes! They're cool and comfortable, not hot at all, except when I'm running, they're very comfortable!" "

Silly girl, wearing such light clothing will make you catch a cold."

"Hehe, Ah Xue's body is so strong, she never catches a cold, and... every time she wears these cool clothes, Master, look at Ah Xue's expression, it's so... so lewd!"

She quickly uttered the last three words, and the beautiful little fox girl tried to tuck her tail between her legs and run away, but I, having already seen through her behavior, grabbed her tail and pulled her back into my arms. Without any hesitation, my right hand immediately reached into her thin, light gauze bra, seizing those round, ample breasts that no man could grasp with one hand, roughly but skillfully cupping and kneading them.

As the warm, sweet juices gradually flowed into my palm, Ah Xue's delicate voice, which had initially been ticklish and causing her to laugh and dodge, gradually transformed into a sweet moan full of desire, her soft, fragrant body pressing against me as if boneless.

I helped Ah Xue into the side room and winked at Violet, who was lying on the floor: if anyone dared to peek, don't hesitate to bite off their head for dinner, especially that shameless Mao Yan'an.

Of the remaining outsiders, Xin Deng Jushi seemed like a virtuous man; he shouldn't be so lecherous as to spy on Ah Xue and me making love. Besides, those four bastards were at the card table; how would they know what was happening here?

However, just a quarter of an hour later, I realized how wrong I was. As Ah Xue writhed and moaned beneath me, uncontrollably turning her pleasurable desires into resounding cries of pleasure, everyone in the mansion probably knew what was going on.

The next day, before leaving the mansion, I asked Ah Xue about the thing that had been bothering me the most. Ah Xue recounted the day Yueying and the Heart Lamp Hermit visited her. She was caught off guard and met the two distinguished guests, leaving her speechless with shock. Fortunately, Uncle Fu came to her rescue, explaining that they were important guests of the manor.

Yueying greeted her but said nothing. The Heart Lamp Hermit, however, looked at her several times, praising her as a woman of exceptional talent and offering to introduce her to the Palace of Light if she wished. Unexpectedly, this touched a nerve with Ah Xue, causing her to immediately run away without looking back and hide ever since.

From this, it seems Yueying didn't speak to Ah Xue, and the Heart Lamp Hermit didn't recognize her. Somewhat unexpected, yet understandable; thankfully, she escaped another ordeal.

On my way to the Golden Finch Inn, I thought of Zhizhi Lonia again. Since that day we parted, I hadn't known her whereabouts, but the magician's outfit I'd entrusted to her should be finished. I needed to find an opportunity to collect it from her.

Upon arriving at the inn, Mao Yan'an said it wouldn't be convenient to interfere with my relationship with Yueying, so he volunteered to pester Ryan to prevent that gay guy from interfering with my time with Yueying.

"Nephew, isn't this a pretty loyal uncle? Last night you were slurping your snow soup with gusto, and I didn't peek, but now I'm letting you drink Yue soup to your heart's content. How are you going to repay me later?"

"Men drinking soup is a matter of course. What's there to repay? At most, I'll ride my horse, you go chase your girls, and I'll let you study soup with the emperor, plus you get to stay in a presidential suite. Such a good deal, you should treat me to a midnight snack."

I've heard that when gentlemen part, they clasp their hands in a fist salute, but for two despicable men like us, a middle finger is enough. Our filthy thoughts are unspoken, no need for further words.

However, seeing Yueying didn't mean I could drink soup. With her group of armed maids on high alert, I couldn't even cook rice, let alone drink any soup.

I heard that security was heightened because someone was injured at the inn during yesterday's military parade. Actually, that's for the best; it prevents Yueying from misunderstanding that I only have lewd thoughts whenever I see her.

I talked to Yueying about yesterday's parade. Although she didn't approve of Ryan's behavior, she seemed very happy about the upcoming major progress at the peace conference. I asked her what was so important about the peace conference, but Yueying, like an older sister lecturing, launched into a bunch of clichéd reasons, making me secretly annoyed that I had asked for a scolding.

To change the subject, I inquired about the Jingnian Zen Society. Yueying seemed hesitant about this, saying that while Ryan didn't oppose the Jingnian Zen Society's development when he was in the country, he never encouraged it either, and she didn't know when they had such close ties.

"This Jingnian Zen Society is said to have the support of many high-ranking monks from the Palace of Light, but from my own feeling, those respected elder monks aren't very happy about this development,"

Yueying said thoughtfully. In the Golden Flower Federation, she didn't participate much in politics, but as Ryan attended more events, she naturally learned a lot about military and political information.

She said that the rise of the Pure Thought Zen Society represented a shift in power within the Palace of Light, with the new generation of disciples using the Pure Thought Zen Society to intensify the conflict between the two generations' differing ideologies.

"The Palace of Light's established principle is that violence cannot be replaced by violence; otherwise, even if evil is defeated, one will fall into demonic ways, causing even greater harm. Therefore, successive generations of high monks have advocated following nature and were unwilling to use force to solve problems,"

Yueying said. "The Pure Thought Zen Society has been established for about ten years, but in the last six years, its influence has grown significantly, extending from the common people to the political arena, and it has even spearheaded the promotion of many bills."

"Bills? What bills?"

The Golden Flower Federation's political system differed from that of other nations; it was a democratic representative system, where the people elected representatives to participate in politics and formulate administrative bills. Although Alibuda's politics are based on the national laws, in principle, the king still has the final say in everything.

"Initially, they promoted martial arts training and rewarded martial arts practice, but in recent years, with the rise of a martial spirit, voices have begun to emerge in the council demanding increased military strength and expanded combat power,"

Yueying said. "The councilors who joined the Pure Thought Zen Society believe that, given the status of the Golden Flower Federation, it should actively participate in international affairs and play a role in maintaining peace on Earth. This should be good, but I don't know why, later, radical factions gradually appeared in the council, advocating for war with Ishtar..."

This was the first time I'd heard of this, but it sounded quite amusing.

There is light magic and dark magic in the world; there is a Temple of Light, but no Temple of Darkness. Thanks to the long-term prosperity of the Cihang Jingdian, although everyone knows the power of dark magic in actual combat, wizards who practice dark magic are always looked at with strange eyes and are often regarded as demons... Of course, there are also many wizards who, in the end, truly become demons and monsters!

There is no Dark Shrine, but there is a Black Magic Kingdom called Ishtar. It is said that long, long ago, several ostracized wizards ventured into the desert, spreading black magic to the local inhabitants. Gradually, they formed a group, and wizards from all over the land flocked to them. Over time, these people became the founders of Ishtar.

Practicing black magic requires, first and foremost, blood sacrifices. Those who, like Ah Xue, have their minds ruined, and who would be so foolish as to offer themselves as sacrifices, are probably unparalleled in the world. Ishtar has black magic as its state religion, and all members of the royal family are wizards. If a sacrifice is needed to open an altar, they simply go out and arrest the person. The status of the common people within the kingdom is self-evident.

"The founding principles of the Golden Flower Federation are freedom, equality, and fraternity, which clash with Ishtar's actions. Calls for a punitive expedition against Ishtar have existed for two hundred years, but the successive leaders of the Cihang Jingdian have insisted that this cannot be used as a reason to start a war. Therefore, they have used negotiations and contacts, along with economic blockades and other means, to make Ishtar more restrained,"

Yueying said. "It's always like this; the younger generation thinks the older generation is slow and indecisive. The Jingnian Chan Society is composed of young people who question tradition and try to change past rules. If this momentum is directed in the right direction, it could be a driving force for the times, but..."

"But what?"

Yueying shook her head and said, "Power corrupts the heart, but excessive military force has the same effect. The Golden Flower Federation has not experienced war within its borders for nearly two hundred years. With the Cihang Jingdian as its backing, coupled with its successful promotion of martial arts, its national strength is unmatched by other countries. The people, possessing such military power, are restless and eager to rebel, which is a very regrettable thing."

I knew these principles, but as I listened to Sister Yueying's analysis point by point, I was genuinely surprised while nodding frequently.

At first, she was just recalling the situation she had witnessed in the Golden Flower Federation and expressing her concerns, but once the topic was raised, it was no longer just a simple recollection, but a clear and detailed analysis, explaining each matter and each principle clearly.

Sister Yueying always had a slight frown on her brow and spoke softly, probably without even realizing what she was saying.

But I paid attention and began to keep quiet, simply observing Yueying's demeanor. Later, I was surprised to find that although Yueying did not like to participate in politics, she did indeed have the aptitude for it. She has her own perspective on things, and while others are caught up in the frenzy, she can detach herself and maintain a calm rationality.

This quality sounds simple, but it's very difficult to achieve. Leng Linglan's shrewdness, competence, and perseverance are well-known, but in terms of clear insight and being unaffected by emotions, she doesn't quite match Yueying's. When faced with a situation, Leng Linglan simply endures it; that doesn't necessarily equate to calmness and composure.

"Ah, sorry, I forgot while we were talking..."

Noticing my silence, Yueying seemed to realize her lapse in composure, sticking out her tongue sheepishly and apologizing repeatedly. This accidental little gesture added a touch of charming beauty to her noble elegance.

“I suddenly remembered that when you used to come to my house, you loved reading the history notes in the library and would insist that I listen and read them to you.”

I said, “Often, truly outstanding talents aren’t necessarily specialists in their fields. Some famous generals look like scholars or farmers. A historian who enters politics might turn out unexpectedly!”

Sensing my implication, Yueying said, “Don’t laugh at me. After spending so much time in the Golden Flower Federation, where information is more readily available, and hearing people discuss national affairs every day, you eventually become able to talk about it too. You would do the same!”

“No, I don’t have that ability, nor do I have a bunch of politicians around me discussing politics all day. Sister, what you said earlier was very true, and your words were convincing. I heard that the Golden Flower Federation is a country where men and women have equal political rights. You could consider going into politics there!”

This was originally just a joke, but Yueying smiled helplessly and said softly, “Yes, some people have advised me that. In the election two months from now, the Buffett family really hopes that I will run as their representative and win an extra seat in parliament.”

“Ah! That’s right. Women can legally participate in politics in the Golden Flower Federation. Sister, you have the honor of being the First Lady, and you have a good image and reputation. If you run for office, you will definitely be able to…”

As soon as she finished speaking, I sensed something was wrong, because Yueying shook her head sadly. She looked as graceful as a swan in the water, but the subtle sorrow in her eyes revealed her disappointment.

"If I could, I would prefer a quiet life, without ostentation or wealth. I would be happy, and the people around me would be happy too. That would be enough."

It's a pity that talent and sexuality don't align. Seeing Yueying's expression, I suddenly wondered, what is politics to her?

Born into an imperial family, her fate was inextricably linked to national politics from the moment she was born, and later, her life was tied to a political marriage. Throughout her life, Yueying had never had the opportunity to decide her own destiny. If one day she could choose independently, she would definitely stay away from the court and the royal family, living the tranquil life she desired. After

ending my conversation with Yueying, I went to find Mao Yan'an, preparing to leave. When I passed through layers of security and entered the meeting room, Ryan nodded to me as I entered, but I was startled. I hadn't expected that Ryan's reason for canceling all his external affairs today was because he was bandaged and healing an injury.

I just heard that someone was injured during yesterday's military parade, but I thought it was just some unlucky guard. I didn't expect it to be the President himself who was injured. No wonder it was so chaotic yesterday. Narcissus, Lunfiel, and Leng Linglan each took action to repel the enemy, but Ryan and Hui Xiuchu never showed up to quell the situation.

Recalling Ryan's solo fight against those Heavenly Poisonous Scorpions yesterday, it's not surprising that he was injured when facing such powerful magical beasts. But thinking about it, it's a bit strange. Ryan shouldn't have failed to consider the risks before doing something so outrageous. In terms of martial arts, Ryan is not comparable to juniors like Leng Linglan and Lunfiel. How could he have ended up injured?

Looking closer, I was secretly surprised. The wound on Ryan's bare chest was clearly a knife wound. Although the wound was not long, it was quite deep. In other words, he was not injured in a fight with the Heavenly Poisonous Scorpions, but was injured by someone else. The most likely scenario is that of an assassin. Although there are countless assassins in this world who want to kill President Golden Flower, what assassin could possibly wound the exceptionally skilled Baili Xiongshi?

(Could it be... assassin, knife wound? These two suggestive words gave rise to a very ominous association, and the image of that lightning-fast blade that severely injured Fang Qingshu that night flashed through my mind.)

"The one who attacked was a young woman, without any prior warning. I was stabbed by her, but she was also struck by my palm and escaped without a trace. If I'm not mistaken, the one who attacked must be Gui Meixi."

Ryan's face was a little pale, but his voice was full of energy, clearly indicating that these injuries were not a problem. This is a characteristic of the Cihang Jingdian Zen Masters: strong bodies and extremely fast recovery speed. To put it simply, they are very durable. In comparison, those masters who cultivate evil techniques are much less durable, unless they use evil techniques that can instantly suppress injuries. It's difficult to compete with a master of Zen martial arts in terms of regenerative abilities. This is one of the reasons why many once-powerful villains were inexplicably defeated by a group of young heroes in a single, decisive blow.

Besides Hui Xiuchu, those present included Mao Yan'an and the Hermit of the Heart Lamp. The Hermit of the Heart Lamp was healing Ryan with a very peculiar technique. A soft white light emanated from his palm, but I couldn't sense any magical fluctuations. Clearly, it wasn't magic, but rather a martial art similar to Zen martial arts. As the white light passed, the wounds and muscles healed rapidly, leaving no trace.

"Ghostly Evening has risen to prominence in recent years, and dozens of righteous heroes have perished at her hands. It's rare to hear of anyone escaping her. This time, President, not only was your injury not serious, but you also managed to dampen her spirits, truly avenging my Cihang Jingdian."

"I dare not accept such praise. The Black Dragon Society's martial arts are indeed superb. That palm strike only lightly injured her. I must thank Layman Nangong for using the 'Zen Meditation Seal' to heal my injuries. Before the meeting concludes, I cannot let the Ishtar people know that I am injured."

Layman Xindeng's secular surname is Nangong? This is truly unexpected. But just as I was pondering this unrelated and unimportant question, Mao Yan'an, who had been sitting to the side with his legs crossed in an odd way, suddenly smiled and spoke.

"Your Excellency's intentions are truly commendable, but unfortunately, the situation is beyond our control. As Xin Deng just mentioned, Ishtar and Solancia reached an emergency agreement last night to jointly withdraw from this peace talks. Once they withdraw, the dwarves of Rosetta will immediately follow suit. Even if we don't let them know you are injured, it won't change anything." "

I was informed of this matter this morning when I returned to Xiuchu, which is why I urgently invited Teacher Mao here for a discussion. Teacher Mao's strategies for the peace and stability of our country were unparalleled. I wonder what brilliant plan Teacher Mao has to turn the tide?"

"I am deeply honored to receive such praise from Your Excellency, but it is too late for you to speak now. Last night, Ishtar and Solancia jointly pressured the Palace of Light, saying that the Pure Thought Zen Society, which is under the jurisdiction of the Palace of Light, is secretly developing biological weapons. Although the Palace of Light has not yet responded, Your Excellency, how do you think the high monks will respond?"
