Is it unknown whether it exists or not? It is not real. This is just borrowing the words of Song Yu, a literary figure, and Cao Zhi, a talented scholar, as a beautiful story for all time. It is probably that there is such a thought but not necessarily such an event, and such an event but not necessarily such a person. If this *Mountain and Water Sentiments* truly has such an event, then it is certainly not a dream; if there is such a person, then it can be considered real. Then, with such a brilliant and inspired writing style, one can trace the footsteps of Cao Zhi and rival Song Yu; how could it be difficult to compete with the Tang poets! A casual inscription by the Master of Zhuo'an: Chapter One: A Charming Scholar's Spring Outing Meets a Beautiful Woman On the Shangsi Festival, a time for spring outings, red blossoms vie for beauty. The outgoing scholar, weary of the hustle and bustle, seeks tranquility in the cold mountains and encounters a beauty. He borrows the charm of a wealthy and virtuous woman, and intrigues them with endless passion. Bees and butterflies flutter about, their joy boundless, stirring the heart of the beautiful woman. To the tune of "Xi Jiang Yue": It is said that the relationship between husband and wife is the first of the five cardinal relationships. If there were no husband and wife, where would there be father and son? Without father and son, where would there be brothers? Without father, son, and brothers, where would there be ruler, subject, and friends? Therefore, the ancients said it well: Heaven and earth are the great husband and wife; husband and wife are the small heaven and earth. Comparing husband and wife to heaven and earth, isn't the relationship between husband and wife the first thing in life? Many other kinship relationships begin here. Therefore, in life, no matter how great the event, or even how small the encounter, is it not a matter of fate? And only the relationship between husband and wife is called fate? Marriage is a matter of predestined affinity, where a connection leads to marriage. The affairs of marriage are often ordinary, yet also strange and unusual; how can one fully describe them! Some are based on what is seen, others on what is heard, some on what is thought, some on what is dreamed, and still others on... (The rest of the text appears to be a series of seemingly random characters and symbols, possibly a corrupted or incomplete sentence or a corrupted file.) Now I will tell you a story of a marriage: a handsome man and a beautiful woman, perfectly matched, both willing to marry, with matchmakers and no parents interfering, no treacherous schemes to stir up trouble. Yet, for some unknown reason, fate wouldn't allow them to be together so easily. Twists and turns, ups and downs, until finally, at the end of their rope, they were finally united. This is also a beautiful story in unofficial history. The story took place during the Xining era of the Song Dynasty. In Dongting East Mountain of Suzhou County, there lived a young scholar named Wei Cai, courtesy name Xuxia. His father, Wei Gu, courtesy name Kuangguo, was a tribute student who had served as the magistrate of Xiaofeng County. His wife was the daughter of the Du family of Weixi, Suzhou, and they had only one son, Xuxia. When Xuxia was seventeen, his parents tragically died one after the other. He had no uncles or brothers, and lived alone with only a master and a servant in a village near Meipian, ten miles from Changqi. He was a man of refined taste and unconventional manners, possessing a broad mind and extensive learning, with a handsome face and elegant demeanor. Whenever he went out, men would admire him greatly, and women would be captivated by his beauty. One day, he crossed the lake to visit his maternal uncle in the prefecture. After staying for a few days, he happened to arrive during the Shangsi Festival in March, a time for spring outings. He and his cousin, Du Qingyun, went out of Changmen Gate to visit Zhixing. Along the way, they were delighted by the warm sunshine and gentle breeze, the fragrant peach and willow trees, and the bustling crowds of tourists, boats, and carriages. The two of them did not take a sedan chair, but instead walked to Guanyin Street, where they squeezed their way into the temple and played for a while. Seeing the crowd jostling so tightly, Xuxia said to Qingyun, "Why should we squeeze in this throng? Let's find a quiet place to sit and relax." Qingyun replied, "Sure. I'll take my cousin to Hanshan. There's a nunnery there. It's a secluded and wonderful place. Besides, we know the abbess, Liaofan, so we'll naturally have tea." Xuxia said, "That's wonderful! Why didn't you tell me sooner, cousin? Are there any beautiful nuns there?" Qingyun said, "To be honest, cousin, Liaofan and his brother are incredibly handsome. I'm afraid my cousin will be tempted and drool over them!" Xuxia said, "Stop teasing me! Let's go quickly!" With that, the two left the mountain gate, hand in hand, and walked slowly to the vicinity of the nunnery, where they saw the two characters "Hanshan" carved on a stone. Xu Xia, after looking at it, exclaimed in surprise, "So this is the place where Du Mu of the Tang Dynasty wrote 'A winding stone path leads up the cold mountain.' Indeed, it is elegant and its reputation is well-deserved." The two praised each other for a while, and then walked together to the entrance of the nunnery. They saw that the gate of the nunnery was open, and they quietly stepped into the corridor. Just then, the nun came out after hearing the barking of a dog, and bumped into the two handsome scholars. She said, "Master Du, it's been a long time. What brings you to this humble abode today? Please come into the Buddha hall to join us." Du and Wei saw that the nun was beautiful and graceful, and they were secretly moved and overjoyed. They followed the nun into the Buddha hall, pretended to pay homage to the Bodhisattva, and then got up, bowed to Liao Fan, and sat down. Qingyun asked, "How has Master been?" Liaofan sighed and said, "I am honored that you asked, but because I did not cultivate in my past life, I am now trapped in the monastic life, suffering hardship day and night. What good is that?" Qingyun said, "Since that is so, you should truly cultivate in this life, do some good deeds, and accumulate good karma. In the next life, you will naturally not have to enter the monastic life and suffer loneliness." Liaofan said, "Please do not tease me. May I ask your honorable surname, sir?" Qingyun said, "He is my cousin, surnamed Wei, courtesy name Xuxia." Liaofan then asked, "Where do you live?" "Where?" Qingyun said, "He lives in Dongting East Mountain, is just over twenty years old, and is not yet married. Master, please act as a matchmaker for him." Liaofan said, "You gentlemen are all from prestigious families, I'm afraid there aren't enough matchmakers. Do you want a little nun to do it? Don't make fun of me again." Qingyun said, "This year, my cousin is going to the capital for the provincial examination. If he passes, would you recommend him to be a protector?" Liaofan said, "Sir, you will naturally be on the list of successful candidates, but how could you come to this desolate mountain to be a protector?" After saying this, Liaofan kept looking at Xuxia. Xuxia also couldn't help but look at Liaofan, and they exchanged glances. Liaofan went to get some tea and was about to lead him into the small room for some fruit tea when an old servant came running in with a haughty air. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be the envoy of the Du family. The old servant, upon seeing the master, said, "Where could I not find you? I only remembered that you, sir, would come here for tea every year when you travel to the mountains. Otherwise, in such a crowded place, even an immortal would have a hard time finding you." Qingyun asked, "Is there such an urgent matter at home that you were specially sent here?" The servant replied, "Don't mention it. The master had just left the house when, for some reason, the mistress suddenly fell ill; she cried out for a long time before regaining consciousness. The old master instructed: Please return home immediately."

Upon hearing this, Qingyun was startled and said to Xuxia, "We were enjoying our trip when this urgent news came. We have to go back now. What should we do?" Xuxia replied, "Enjoying the trip is not the main purpose. My cousin's illness is more important. We should hurry back." Qingyun said, "But what if my cousin's trip is ruined because of my brother's illness? What should we do?" Xuxia said, "What does it matter? The weather is beautiful right now. We should go back quickly."
