The small full moon bought by the evil spirit

Chapter 1

Wouldn't life be too boring if it were just like this, so bland and uneventful?

Ling Duanhun rested his chin on his hand, watching the matchmaker bring women to him one by one. He looked utterly uninterested

, his eyelids barely open, a picture of utter boredom.

The matchmaker grew impatient.

"Young master, what kind of maid do you want? Give me a reason! So many women have been brought

before , and you don't even glance at them before declaring them unsuitable. You're giving this old woman a real headache!"

"I want a woman who can pique my interest," Ling Duanhun said calmly.

"Pique your interest?" The matchmaker frowned, her gaze involuntarily drifting to the gleaming gold ingot Ling Duanhun had placed

on the table , her mouth practically watering.

Ling Duanhun noticed and waved the gold ingot in front of the matchmaker.

"Want this gold ingot?"

Of course! Who wouldn't want it? The matchmaker rolled her eyes, cursing inwardly. "

If it weren't for this gold ingot, I wouldn't have wasted so much time wasting my time here with you. "

Watching the gold ingot dangle before her eyes, the matchmaker couldn't resist reaching out to touch it, but Ling Duanhun

pulled it back from her hand.

"I told you, unless I find a woman I'm satisfied with, I won't give you this gold ingot."

The matchmaker looked heartbroken as the gold ingot slipped through her fingers.

This gold ingot could make her coffers even fuller; she was willing to risk her reputation to make this

man a fortune.

He just wanted to find a woman he was interested in as his maid; she'd been a matchmaker for so many years, she refused to believe she

couldn't find one he liked.

The matchmaker suddenly felt like she'd become a matchmaker herself, dedicated to connecting people.

But why were there so many rules when he was looking for a maid?!

The matchmaker muttered to herself, a strange figure suddenly flashing through her mind. She remembered a

woman she'd received a few days ago—could she just happen to fit this man's taste?

“Young master, please wait a moment. I just remembered there’s a woman who might fit your criteria.”

“Oh!?” Ling Duanhun lazily raised his thick eyebrows.

Actually, choosing a maid didn’t need to be so complicated; after all, there were plenty of women to choose from in “Shadow.”

It was just that he found life too boring, so he wanted to find a different kind of woman.

A woman who could pique his interest.

A woman who could make his eyes light up and capture his attention.

Not long after the matchmaker disappeared, she returned with a woman whose hands and feet were chained.

“Hurry up, don’t dawdle!” the matchmaker snapped at the woman.

Ling Duanhun couldn’t see her face; her messy hair obscured her features. She kept her head down, seemingly resignedly

being dragged along by the matchmaker.

“Young master, what do you think of this woman?”

“What’s so special about her?” Ling Duanhun raised an eyebrow, his gaze fixed on the chains on her hands and feet, puzzled as to why she

was chained, as if afraid she might escape.

"Someone sold her to me a while ago, specifically requesting she be sold to a brothel. Seeing how much you want

a maid, I think it's a blessing for her; being a maid is better than being sold to a brothel." The matchmaker presented herself with an air of magnanimity and

compassion, but Ling Duanhun didn't believe her nonsense.

If she were so compassionate, she wouldn't have taken on this job; she was probably after his gold ingots,

ignoring another client's request. Anyway, who knew where she'd end up?

"Lift your face up," Ling Duanhun lazily commanded.

The woman seemed not to hear him until the matchmaker, exasperated, pinched her arm.

"I told you to lift your face up! Don't you listen?"

The woman didn't react, but Ling Duanhun frowned.

"Matchmaker, I don't want my merchandise to suffer any

damage before I decide whether to buy this woman."

"Yes."

The matchmaker forced a smile, inwardly cursing, "Why so many rules?!" But what could she

do? The customer is king!

Ling Duanhun stood up from his chair and walked to the woman.

He looked at her with curiosity; her hair was disheveled, but her messy black hair couldn't hide her beautiful face.

If she were clean, she would surely be a stunning beauty.

But what attracted Ling Duanhun wasn't her beauty, but her eyes.

He had seen countless beauties, plump and slender, shy, gorgeous, and delicate, but

what drew his attention were her eyes.

Her eyes were calm, looking at him without resentment or anger. Even when the matchmaker said she was going to be sold to

a brothel , she showed no expression, and her eyes remained the same.

Calm and indifferent.

"What's your name?"

"Yuan Yue," she replied slowly after a moment of silence.

"Do you want me to buy you?" Ling Duanhun smiled strangely, lifting her head with his fingers, making her

clear black and white eyes gaze at him.

She remained silent, causing the eerie atmosphere to freeze.

"Can't you speak up, you little brat?" the matchmaker scolded from the side. If Ling Duanhun hadn't forbidden her from hitting her,

she wouldn't have been so polite.

"You want to buy me?" the girl asked, her bright eyes fixed on him.

"If I don't buy you, you'll be sold to a brothel. Are you willing?" Ling Duanhun

asked with a lazy smile.

Most girls would turn pale with fear at the thought of being sold to a brothel, but she

looked at him calmly.

No crying, no feigning pitifulness, no shouting—she was as calm as if

she weren't the woman being sold into brothels. Ling Duanhun was genuinely curious about how to provoke her fear, and where she came from

.

"Do you think I'm willing?"

she finally uttered after a long silence, coldly, without a hint of pleading.

"I'll assume you don't want to go to a brothel. You should be begging me to buy you," Ling Duanhun

said with a smile , like a smiling tiger.

"I don't beg," she said coldly, pursing her luscious red lips.

"Not asking for help?" Ling Duanhun laughed. "Do you really want a bunch of men to pile on top of you and do

whatever they want to you?"

Yuan Yue's face turned pale, her eyes revealing disgust and loathing, but she didn't tremble. Her clear eyes stared into

his.

"What do you want?" she asked softly. "If all you want is my pleading, will you save me?"

"Well... that depends on how you beg me."

Yuan Yue stared at him intently, slowly uttering two words.

"Please!"

Ling Duanhun laughed. He hadn't expected her to actually only utter those two words. However, faced with his uncontrollable laughter, she showed no expression, calmly watching his smile. In contrast, the matchmaker gritted her teeth in anger, cursing incessantly

beside her . "Is this how you beg? If it weren't for this kind young master considering buying you, I would have sold you to a brothel long ago. I don't know what I was blind to buy such a worthless thing..." The matchmaker cursed incessantly, but Yuan Yue remained unmoved, her eyes stubbornly and firmly fixed on the smiling man. He smiled , his fingers lightly stroking her delicate cheek. "Alright, I've decided, I'll buy you!" The matchmaker's mouth dropped open in disbelief. This man could have any woman he wanted, yet he chose this disobedient girl. Was he crazy?! The matchmaker muttered to herself. But when she saw Ling Duanhun toss her the gold ingot, she smiled happily, feeling like she had made a profit. She had only spent ten taels of silver to buy this girl; even if she sold her to a brothel, she would only earn five times that amount, which wouldn't even amount to a single gold ingot . "You want to buy me?" Yuan Yue asked slowly, her expression calm and indifferent, as if she were an object being bought . "You don't want it?" Ling Duanhun retorted. "I..." The matchmaker, afraid the gold ingot in her hand would fly away, interrupted Yuan Yue before she could answer, saying, "Young master, she has no reason to object. Staying by your side is better than staying in a brothel." "I'm asking about her, not you." His smile faded, and he narrowed his eyes. Sensing the displeasure emanating from Ling Duanhun, the matchmaker had no choice but to shut her mouth, while giving Yuan Yue a warning look, warning her not to ruin her business, or she'd be in for a beating. "Since you've bought me, can you remove the chains from my hands and feet?" Yuan Yue raised her hands, letting him see the chains on her wrists, and asked softly, only to be met with a shout from the matchmaker. "No, these chains absolutely cannot be removed." "Why can't you remove them?" Ling Duanhun narrowed his eyes, looking at the matchmaker's guilty face. “Young master, this woman is dangerous. She knows martial arts. If we remove the chains and let her be free, I can’t guarantee she won’t escape.” The matchmaker said helplessly, forcing herself to speak. Seeing Ling Duanhun’s sharp gaze, the matchmaker dared not look at him. “If she hadn’t asked, you wouldn’t have told me she knew martial arts at all?” Ling Duanhun asked slowly, noticing beads of sweat sliding down the matchmaker’s forehead. “I was going to tell you… but I forgot for a moment…” The matchmaker forced a smile, looking guilty. Ling Duanhun raised an eyebrow, knowing she hadn’t forgotten but had no intention of telling him. “Untie her handcuffs and anklets.” He commanded. “What!?” The matchmaker gasped. “I said unlock them.” He commanded again. “But…” “I won’t repeat myself.” His cold voice made the matchmaker pale. “Okay, I’ll unlock them, I’ll unlock them…” She tremblingly took out the key and unlocked Yuan Yue’s handcuffs and anklets . After regaining her freedom, she stood straight in front of Ling Duanhun. "You want to escape?" "If you're going to escape, it'll be after you fall asleep," Yuan Yue said seriously. Ling Duanhun smiled, seemingly very happy. "Then let's go." At his command, he took the lead and headed for the door, seemingly very pleased, as if he had found a great treasure. Yuan Yue tilted her head to look at the man's back, her steps not following. At this moment, the matchmaker's urging voice came from beside her. "Hurry up and follow!" The matchmaker couldn't wait to get rid of these two unpredictable door gods, but when Yuan Yue turned around and gave her a cold glance, a chill ran down her spine. She had forgotten that this evil star's bracelets and anklets had been removed. With just a reach of her hand, she could crush her life. Before, when Yuan Yue was wearing the bracelets and anklets, she had kept her distance. How could she have forgotten? The matchmaker retreated step by step in fright, only to see Yuan Yue smile coldly. Her smile made the matchmaker pause slightly, and then in the blink of an eye, she disappeared before her eyes. The matchmaker wiped the sweat from her forehead and sighed three times. "Finally, these evil spirits are gone! Huh!? Where's my gold ingot? My gold ingot has been stolen!? Which scoundrel stole my gold ingot?" The matchmaker immediately shouted, her screams echoing through the sky. * Why did this man buy her? Yuan Yue stared expressionlessly at the man walking at the front, wondering what his purpose was in buying her. He should know she had martial arts skills; wasn't he afraid she would escape? "Do you need to freshen up?" Ling Duanhun suddenly turned around and asked. "Freshen up..." Only then did Yuan Yue realize that people on the street were looking at her with strange eyes. She then remembered that she was disheveled and smelled sour. She wrinkled her nose, nodded, and said. "Okay!" Ling Duanhun smoothly entered the inn, but as soon as Yuan Yue stepped inside, the waiter immediately covered his nose and waved her away. "Get out of here! This isn't a place for beggars. Get out of here right now!" "I brought her," Ling Duanhun said, turning back and tossing the shopkeeper twenty taels of silver. "Is this enough to let her in?" "Enough, enough, of course!" Even the shopkeeper was startled, nodding repeatedly as he approached the customer. Ling Duanhun then pulled out another tael of silver from his pocket, tossed it to the shopkeeper, and ordered, "Take her away and prepare..."

" There's hot water in the room for her to wash up. Also, buy her a few sets of women's clothing; old clothes are fine too. And while

you're at it, bring me a few dishes. The rest is a tip."

"Thank you, sir! Thank you, sir!" The innkeeper beamed, holding another twenty-tael silver coin in his hand. The two coins

together made forty taels, which was the inn's income for one or two months.

"Waiter, hurry up and take this young lady to her room and prepare hot water for her to wash up." The innkeeper

ordered the waiter with a stern face.

"Young lady, please follow me!" The waiter's attitude changed quickly, bowing and scraping before Yuan Yue, showing her

the importance of money.

If he knew she had a gold ingot in her pocket, would he be willing to kneel and kiss her toes?

Thinking of this, Yuan Yue shuddered slightly, finally understanding what it meant for people to die for money and birds to die for food.

After Ling Duanhun was taken away to wash up, the innkeeper immediately served several dishes and wine, smiling broadly,

"Sir, I've already sent my wife to buy some new clothes. Women know better than men. I've served some

dishes; see if they suit your taste?"

Ling Duanhun then took out a coin from his sleeve and tossed it to him casually, saying, "You did a good job; this is

a reward for you. Later, when she's changed, serve her some more dishes to fill her stomach, and also pack some dry rations for

us to take on the journey."

"Yes, yes, yes." Seeing the coin, the innkeeper was overjoyed. "I'll do it right away." * An hour later, Yuan Yue finished washing and dressing, wearing a bright green dress. Her beautiful appearance attracted the attention of many young men in the inn . If it weren't for her cold face

, a swarm of bees would have surrounded her. She stood expressionlessly in front of Ling Duanhun. Ling Duanhun had been watching her ever since she appeared. When he saw her stop in front of him, a slight smile appeared on his thin lips. "Sit down, you must be hungry. Waiter, bring a few more dishes." He lazily ordered. "Yes." The waiter immediately went to prepare. Yuan Yue picked up her chopsticks and began to devour the food on the table without even glancing at him. She didn't get much food at the matchmaker's; she was only given a steamed bun and water a day at most, just enough to keep her from starving. She devoured the food like a whirlwind, and more than half of the food on the table disappeared in no time. When the waiter brought the steaming food to the table, he couldn't believe that she had finished the food on the plate in the blink of an eye. "Want more?" "Ling Duanhun asked with a smile. He watched as she ate with great gusto, though she was clearly starving. She could feel the man's leisurely gaze fixed on her, but her chopsticks never stopped. "No need, I'm full after this." Yuan Yue took a sip of tea and finally put down her chopsticks. "Full?" "Yes." Yuan Yue gave a soft hum, her gaze falling on the man. His eyes were fixed on her, a playful smile in them, his admiring gaze lingering on her face. Yuan Yue frowned slightly, puzzled, and asked, "What are you looking at?" "You're quite pretty." "He said with a sly smile. She felt his gaze sweep over her from head to toe, his expression seemingly quite satisfied. The woman before her, clean and fresh, revealed her delicate and beautiful oval face, exuding an aura , like a lotus flower blooming in the morning dew, radiating her delicate beauty and freshness. Her black and white eyes stared at him, her expression seemingly full of confusion as she asked, "Why did you buy me?" "No reason, just...bored." Ling Duanhun replied with a lazy smile, noticing her slightly furrowed brows, seemingly dissatisfied with his answer. "Just because you're bored?" "That's right!" He nodded seriously, "It's rare for me to encounter something interesting." " He's naturally lazy, seemingly uninterested in anything. It's rare to encounter such an interesting woman; her calm and composed demeanor ignites a desire to torment her. When will she show panic? How will she reveal fear? How will she reveal her alluring smile? For the first time, Ling Duanhun felt that studying a woman might be quite interesting. Although this woman's expressions are few, it's certainly something to look forward to, isn't it? He smiled, sending a chill down Yuan Yue's spine. She instinctively disliked the man's smile, as if he was plotting something , and it was aimed at her. 'I'm a person, not an object.' 'So what!?' He raised an eyebrow. To him, whether she was a person or an object was irrelevant; what mattered was his interest in her. 'I don't want to stay by your side,' Yuan Yue said, pursing her lips. 'But I've already bought you.' " A languid smile played on his lips, his voice deep and resonant, like a lover 's murmur. A tingling sensation coursed through her body, and Yuan Yue's face showed a hint of awkwardness. Why was her heart beating so fast? She frowned, wondering why her heartbeat had become so rapid—was it just because of his voice? The thought made her feel uneasy. "This is your gold ingot." She pulled the gold ingot she had snatched from the matchmaker from her bosom and placed it in front of the man. This gold ingot attracted many greedy glances; everyone in the inn revealed their lust, wishing they could possess it . Ling Duanhun smiled as he looked at the gold ingot on the table. "Where did this gold ingot come from?" His eyes held a hint of interest, making her feel uneasy, as if were completely exposed to the sunlight. "Don't worry about where I got it." She couldn't possibly tell the truth. "Is this the gold ingot I gave to the matchmaker?" His voice was quite gentle, even pleasant . "So what if it is?" Her tone hardened. Then he chuckled softly, a sound that sent chills down one's spine. "It's not very good, but I won't accept this gold ingot." "Why?" Yuan Yue frowned slightly. If he didn't accept the gold ingot, wouldn't that mean she couldn't redeem herself? "This is the money I paid for you."

“So I’m returning the money to you,” Yuan Yue said calmly, her face serious.

“So?” he asked slowly, his dark eyes locking onto her, making her heart clench,

feeling utterly helpless. A sense

of unease welled up inside her; she felt like a vulnerable, helpless little rabbit, forced into his trap, powerless to resist.

“I am already free.” Returning the gold ingots meant she had bought herself back.

“But I didn’t say I agreed to this deal.” Ling Duanhun’s smile sent a chill down Yuan Yue’s spine as he

waved his index finger in front of her. “So… before I agree to set you free, no matter

how many more gold ingots you give me, I won’t agree.”

Yuan Yue’s brows furrowed deeply.

Chapter Two

“Boy, hand over the gold ingots.” A burly man, already itching to get his hands on the gold ingots on the table,

stood up and walked to Ling Duanhun, ordering him menacingly.

“You want them?” Ling Duanhun’s lips curled slightly.

“That’s right, I want it!” The burly man nodded without hesitation, extending his hand.

Ling Duanhun raised an eyebrow. “What if I don’t give it to you?”

“Then I’ll just steal it.” The burly man reached for the gold ingot on the table.

Yuan Yue immediately put the gold ingot back into her sleeve, staring at the burly man with cold eyes, and said calmly, “This is

mine.”

She wouldn’t hand over her ransom.

“I don’t care whose it is, hand over the gold ingot now, or I’ll strip you naked in the street and make you

look bad!”

The burly man made a threat, causing Ling Duanhun to narrow his eyes.

He was very displeased that someone was threatening what belonged to him.

“What did you say?” Ling Duanhun’s voice was so soft that it felt dangerous, but the burly man

didn’t seem to care .

“I said if you don’t hand over the gold ingot, I’ll strip her naked in the street.”

Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly felt a sharp pain in his wrist, watching helplessly as his hand fell to the ground, blood splattering on

Ling Duanhun’s clothes and face, while Ling Duanhun remained indifferent.

“Ah!” The burly man screamed in pain.

Everyone present was horrified.

He had severed the man's hand without a sound.

"My hand..." the burly man cried out, kneeling on the ground.

Ling Duanhun ignored the man and turned to look at Yuan Yue. He found her expression still calm, her face and

clothes splattered with blood, yet she showed no reaction. A slight smile played on his lips; he found himself

increasingly interested in her.

"Let's go!" Ling Duanhun ordered, rising to his feet and heading towards the door without hesitation, ignoring the groaning

man .

"Guest... waiter, here's the rations you requested." The shopkeeper was terrified but had no choice but to step forward

and hand over what he had been asked for.

He hadn't expected this seemingly generous young master to be such a tough nut to crack. Luckily, he hadn't offended

him earlier, or he might have ended up like that man...

Thinking of this, the shopkeeper trembled uncontrollably, repeatedly chanting "Amitabha" in his heart.

Yuan Yue hesitated for a moment, then obediently followed behind Ling Duanhun.

Staying at the scene would only attract greedy stares, coveting the gold ingot she possessed.

Walking down the street, Ling Duanhun's blood splattered on him drew fearful glances and screams, but he

remained unperturbed, earning Yuan Yue's admiration. Although she had some blood on her as well, it wasn't as much as his.

The blood splatter on his black clothes wasn't obvious, but the bloodstains on his face and arms, coupled with his

nonchalant smile, were enough to send chills down one's spine.

He showed no remorse, even appearing cheerful as he walked towards the city gate. She suddenly stopped.

"What's wrong?" Not hearing her footsteps, he turned around and saw her standing still.

"Where are you going?"

"Out of the city, of course." He flashed white teeth, which, combined with the bloodstains on his face, made him

look particularly ferocious and sinister.

Yuan Yue finally realized that the man who bought her was definitely not simple; his face and arms were covered in blood, yet he could still

walk happily towards the city gate.

Her heart sank, her confusion deepening as she wondered why he had bought her. "Do you know how terrifying you look?"

"And then?" he asked with a smile. Yuan Yue frowned. Was he genuinely oblivious or feigning ignorance?

Suppressing her frustration, she calmly replied, "You look terrifying enough walking down the street.

Do you think the city gate guards will let you out?" She should be grateful she hadn't been caught.

"Let's try it!" Ling Duanhun said with a smile, his dark hand grabbing her wrist as they

walked towards the city gate.

This man was truly insane!

Yuan Yue gasped. His grip was incredibly strong, holding her hand tightly, impossible to shake off. She could only watch helplessly

as he dragged her towards the city gate.

Upon reaching the gate, Yuan Yue saw the guards' expressions suddenly change, their faces filled with fear.

They pushed and shoved each other forward to question them.

At this moment, a small, weak guard was pushed through the crowd. He turned around and saw his companions giving him

apprehensive glances. He wore a bitter expression, but after a while, a fake smile appeared on his face. He

bowed and scraped to Qian Duanhun repeatedly, behaving like a dog desperately trying to please him.

Yuan Yue was puzzled because the city guard's reaction was completely unexpected.

"Master Ling, are you leaving the city?"

"That's right!" He didn't even look at the city guard and dragged Yuan Yue toward the city gate.

Sweat streamed down the city guard's face as he swallowed hard. "Excuse me... is anyone dead?"

"Is that all you want to ask?" Ling Duanhun stopped, revealing a smile that sent chills down the city guard's spine.

The city guard's body trembled; he was about to wet himself. The other city guards gave him pitying looks,

but none of them were willing to help him.

That was why they didn't want to approach this god of death. He was infamous; encountering him

usually either made their legs go weak or they simply closed their eyes and fainted.

"Yes..." The city guard's voice trembled slightly as he forced a smile onto his face.

"Don't worry, I only chopped off the hand of a fool who didn't know better. He's not dead." Ling Duanhun said casually.

"Yes." The city guards breathed a sigh of relief. As long as no one died, even broken limbs were acceptable.

"In that case, I won't stop Master Ling from leaving the city." He bowed and nodded repeatedly, as if he couldn't wait to

send this god of death out of the city.

Every time he returned, the city guards were on tenterhooks, fearing that some fool in the city would offend

this god of death again.

Last time, he directly rendered someone impotent, and with his powerful backing and unfathomable martial arts skills, he

didn't want to risk his life.

"Okay! I'm leaving." Ling Duanhun pulled Yuan Yue and swaggered out.

Yuan Yue couldn't believe that the city guards would just let them leave like that. Didn't they see that

they were covered in blood?

Were these city guards so afraid of this man that they dared not stop him? Despite the bloodstains still clinging to him

, she dared not seize him, instead respectfully seeing him off at the city gate… Gazing at the man directly ahead,

Yuan Yue frowned slightly, sensing once again that he was no ordinary man.

With a splash, Ling Duanhun jumped into the stream, stripping down to only his trousers. Had it not been for the woman,

he would have been completely naked. His actions, however, caused Yuan Yue to frown, her cheeks flushing slightly. Seeing his

bare upper body, his muscular chest like a thick stone wall, she quickly turned her head away.

“The water’s cold, do you want to come in?” His voice was seductive.

Yuan Yue tensed, replying without turning her head, “No!”

“Why not? Aren’t you also covered in that man’s dirty blood?”

“It’s none of your business.” Yuan Yue’s indifferent voice showed her lack of appreciation.

Ling Duanhun’s soft laughter suddenly came from behind. Before Yuan Yue could react, he pulled her

into the stream, the water reaching above her knees, soaking her completely.

“You…” A blush rose to her angry, delicate face.

“I don’t want anything of mine to be stained with any other man’s, not even blood.” His

fingertips traced her cherry lips, his dark eyes suddenly deepening.

Yuan Yue was captivated by his deep eyes, unable to snap out of her daze for a long time.

“Did you hear what I was saying?” He smiled, raising his thick, dark eyebrows.

Yuan Yue snapped back to reality, her brows furrowing instinctively.

Why was she so engrossed in looking at him? She was simply drawn to him.

A hint of unease flashed across Yuan Yue’s face, but she quickly regained her composure and expressionlessness.

Ling Duanhun didn’t miss the fleeting unease on her face. His thin, sharp lips curved slightly, and he

moved closer to .

She shifted her body, trying to distance herself from him, but his large hand gripped her waist tightly, while his other hand

seized her wrist.

“Let go of me!” Yuan Yue commanded sternly.

“What if I refuse?” Ling Duanhun revealed a cheeky smile.

"Men and women shouldn't touch each other." She reminded him, shouldn't they be mindful of the differences between men and women?

"I bought you." He whispered, his handsome face leaning closer, his hot breath lightly brushing against her delicate

cheek.

A blush slowly spread across her face, and she hurriedly pushed him away.

"I'm giving you back the money, but you didn't want it." A hint of panic appeared in her voice, and her heart suddenly raced.

"I don't need the money, I want you." Seeing her shy appearance, he smiled.

He hadn't expected her to be so cute when she was shy, so cute that he wanted to tease her.

The panic on her face only lasted for a moment before she immediately regained her composure, looking at him with her calm, unwavering eyes

.

"What do you want my person for?" Hearing that this man wanted her person, her whole body tensed up, much like

Ci Qing.

"I'll have to think about that." Ling Duanhun's tone was quite light; in fact, he didn't know what he wanted her

for either.

He bought her simply out of curiosity; her calm and indifference made him want to tear it apart, to see

what expression she would have without that protective layer.

"Think about it?" Yuan Yue frowned slightly, glancing at him. Seeing the smile on his lips, her cheeks flushed

.

Only then did she notice their intimate posture; she was practically held in his arms, his

body heat radiating through her.

"Can you let me go first?"

"I don't want to!" His face was buried in her fragrant shoulder, inhaling her faint scent, feeling her

soft body stiffen.

His movement made her heart skip a beat. A hint of annoyance flashed in her eyes; she pursed her red lips and

pushed him away forcefully. Whether by accident or intentionally letting her go, Ling Duanhun plunged into the middle of the stream

and disappeared.

Seeing him vanish, Yuan Yue breathed a sigh of relief, feeling free again.

She should take this opportunity to slip away! As she made her decision, her gaze couldn't help but drift towards the calm

water.

Why hasn't he surfaced yet? Could he be drowning?

Is that even possible? A hint of panic began to surface in her calm heart, her small hands clenching into fists.

As time passed, Yuan Yue's face grew paler and paler.

"You're not dead, are you?" She struggled to walk towards the middle of the stream.

Suddenly, her foot slipped, and she frantically thrashed about, bobbing up and down in the water.

Oh no! She had forgotten she couldn't swim.

She swallowed several mouthfuls of stream water, and just when Yuan Yue thought she was about to drown, a pair of strong

arms suddenly grabbed her waist and swam backward.

Reaching the shore, Yuan Yue coughed incessantly, vomiting up a lot of water from her stomach.

"So you can't swim."

Hearing Ling Duanhun's sarcastic remark, Yuan Yue glared at him with resentment. "If it weren't for you, I

wouldn't have almost drowned."

"I didn't ask you to save me." Ling Duanhun completely absolved himself of responsibility.

"That's right, I was being nosy. I should have watched you drown." Her face

flushed red , and she trembled with anger.

"You're wrong, I didn't drown at all." So he didn't need her to save him, and she wouldn't have seen him drown

.

Ling Duanhun's smile was so glaring that Yuan Yue wanted to slap his handsome face.

She punched him.

"I was wrong," Yuan Yue said coldly, her teeth clenched. "I should have

left while you were in the water."

That way, she wouldn't have been scolded by him so gleefully. What a thankless task!

Yuan Yue was deeply annoyed. What did this man's life or death have to do with her? Why was she worried about whether he was

drowning ?

"Yes! You could have run, why didn't you?" He looked down at her, his dark eyes locked on

hers .

His burning body temperature and breath rushed towards her, scalding her face.

"Your face is so red..." With a smile, he stroked her soft face.

Looking at the smile on Ling Duanhun's face, Yuan Yue's heart suddenly raced.

She frowned, disliking this chaotic feeling, as if everything was completely out of her control.

She pursed her lips and slapped his presumptuous hand away. Although she was weak, she still managed to

stand up unsteadily and went to rest on the clean grass. She closed her eyes, trying to ignore his presence, but he

buzzed around her like a bee.

"You haven't answered my question yet. Are you guilty or shy? Looks like you're quite thin-skinned."

Every word he spoke felt like a needle pricking her head.

She suddenly opened her eyes, a look of annoyance on her face. "What do you want me to answer?"

"You had a chance to leave, why didn't you?" He twirled a strand of her hair, his eyes smiling as he gazed at

her slightly displeased face.

This little woman's reaction was truly unexpected. He thought that during his absence, she would turn away

without hesitation , but instead, she stayed, worried that he might drown.

"Because I didn't want to have a guilty conscience," Yuan Yue answered his question calmly, stubbornly refusing to admit that she was

worried about him.

"You're such a good person." So good that she missed her chance to slip away—how stupid! If

Yuan Yue knew what he was thinking, she would be so angry that she would never want to speak to this arrogant bastard again.

"I'm not a good person." Hearing the word "good person," Yuan Yue's expression twisted slightly as she slowly spoke.

"Why do you say you're not a good person? You almost lost your life just now to save me."

Because only a good person would do such a foolish thing.

She said she wasn't a good person, yet she did the foolish things only a good person would do; she was truly hypocritical!

Ling Duanhun revealed a half-smile, his dark eyes dimming slightly.
