【Two fleshy edges】

Chapter One: A Greedy Man's Nightly Lodging –
Wealth and honor are not free from heaven; why bother with vain desires and greedy pursuits?
The mediocre and foolish revel daily, while the clever and intelligent are filled with daily anxieties.
Even Peng Zu, though old, eventually died; Shi Chong's wealth did not last long.
All things in life are predetermined; how can forced scheming lead to nothing?
Now, in the previous dynasty, in Xiushui County, Jiaxing Prefecture, there lived a student named Feng De, also known as You Neng. He was thirty years old and married a woman surnamed Sun. You Neng had been a stingy and miserly man since childhood, unwilling to waste a single penny. Later, everyone knew he was a miser, and gave him the nickname "Skin-Clawing Man," meaning he was extremely stingy. Unexpectedly, in May of that year, his wife, Sun, contracted the plague and died within a few days. You Neng prepared the coffin, arranged the burial, and carried out the funeral. After the burial was completed, everything was finished, and he sat at home, feeling utterly unhappy.
One evening, a sudden gust of wind arose, dark clouds gathered, and rain began to fall. By the time the lamps were lit, the rain had intensified. You Neng, accompanied by a maid, went out to close the door. There, they saw a sedan chair resting under the door, with a woman dressed in white sitting inside. They also saw a young man, also dressed in plain clothes. Two servants were carrying a food box. When the young man saw Feng Youneng come out, he knew he was the master of the house and hurriedly stepped forward to bow, saying, "I only came to seek shelter from the rain and disturbed your home; I am truly sorry." Youneng replied, "I did not know you were here; I have failed to greet you properly. Please come in and have a seat. May I ask your honorable name?" The man said, "My name is Liu Chun, and the person in the sedan chair is my younger sister. My sister's husband has unfortunately passed away, and today marks the third anniversary of his death. We went to his grave to pay our respects. Unexpectedly, we encountered this heavy rain on our way back, and since the road is far, we cannot go any further. We were just about to take three hundred coins to find an empty room to rest for the night, and we will leave tomorrow morning. I wonder if your residence has such an empty room?" "Yes?" You Neng thought, "If I have three hundred coins, I can let them stay for the night. I doubt they'll take any money from my place. I'm just worried that these people haven't eaten yet. If they come in and ask for food and drink, it won't be enough to cover my costs." He then said, "I do have empty rooms, but cooking is inconvenient." Liu Chun replied, "There's food and drink in the food box. We just need an empty room. We'll leave at dawn tomorrow." You Neng said, "With this heavy rain, it's inconvenient to look outside. If you don't mind my humble abode, please stay here for the night." Liu Chun quickly said, "If that's possible, it would be a great act of kindness." He hurriedly took out three hundred coins and gave them to Feng You Neng. You Neng said, "How dare you! Brother, you underestimate me. I absolutely refuse." Liu Chun said, "If you refuse, brother, I dare not disturb your household and will take my leave now." Seeing his attitude, You Neng said, "Since that's the case, I'll accept it for now." He instructed, "Quickly carry Madam to the back hall for a seat." You Neng and Liu Chun went to the back hall and bowed again.
A beautiful young woman stepped out of the sedan chair and bowed. You Neng returned the bow and looked at her closely. Her small feet, clad in white silk shoes, were like tiny magnolia petals, very charming. Looking at her face, she possessed a beauty that was like:
a face like a lotus, a waist like a willow, and eyes that were exceptionally charming.
Her hair was lightly tied up in white silk, and she was like a fairy descending from the clouds.
After reading this, You Neng was momentarily stunned. Seeing the servants who had accompanied him, he quickly took out a pair of large candles from the food box, lit them in the hall, and placed two wine boxes there. He arranged them on the left for the men and on the right for the women, inviting Feng De to sit. Feng De pretended not to sit, but Liu Chun grabbed him and wouldn't let go. Feng You Neng sat below and drank with Liu Chun. After a few cups, Liu distributed the food and wine to the servants and sedan chair bearers before leaving. Seeing that Liu had finished her wine, You Neng quickly instructed them to prepare bedding and settle her in the west side room to rest. He spoke with Liu Chun again, asking, "What did your brother-in-law do when he was alive?" Liu Chun replied, "That's a long story. My late brother-in-law was a carefree man. But his father had amassed a vast estate. Unexpectedly, within five years, both his parents died, leaving no descendants. My late brother-in-law, nearing thirty, had no children and no lineage to carry on. If he had no descendants, to whom would he entrust this family? For the sake of his children, he took his own life." (
To be continued in the next chapter. )
Chapter Two: The Young Widow's Wedding Night
. It is said that my late brother-in-law, for the sake of his children, took his own life. Now, only my younger sister remains, only twenty-five years old this year. How can she live to old age? And there is no one to care for this family fortune. Therefore, today I went to pay respects to my late brother-in-law, and afterwards I will find a fortunate husband to give him this fortune. "Upon hearing this, it was as if ants were crawling into his heart, and he immediately felt an itch, saying, 'Who will decide?'" "How much dowry is needed to marry him?" Liu Chun said, "Who will receive the dowry? No one will decide. However, I will be going with my sister. These fields and properties have been under my management since my brother-in-law passed away. I also need to collect the debts owed by others, so I must go with my sister." You Neng smiled and said, "I am widowed and have not yet remarried. If you don't mind, I would like to ask you to act as matchmaker. What do you say?" Liu Chun said, "I don't have a suitable matchmaker, but my sister is not beautiful and I'm afraid she is not fortunate enough to enjoy such wealth and luxury. If you don't mind, I agree. You don't need to worry about anything. Just pick an auspicious day and I will bring her over." You Neng said, "I am grateful for your promise, but I wonder if your sister will agree?" Liu Chun said, "Don't worry, it's all on me." You Neng was overjoyed and kept urging Liu Chun to drink, and they ate until the third watch of the night before finally resting. The
next day, Liu Chun borrowed her dressing utensils, and after both men and women were dressed, she was about to thank You Neng when he came out to greet her and invite her to sit down. Liu Chun refused to sit any longer, thanked him, and got into her sedan chair and left. After Liu Chun left, You Neng said to Liu Chun, "Is the marriage arrangement not right?" Liu Chun replied, "It is perfectly right, and it is not appropriate for us to sit here. I only ask for an auspicious day and time, and then my younger brother will come with me." You Neng took out the almanac, chose a date, and said, "The fifteenth of the third month is an auspicious day. Where should we go to fetch the bride?" Liu Chun said, "We will come by water. It's just outside the Shuixi Gate, not far at all. I will come first to deliver the message." You Neng stopped her and invited her to have breakfast, but Liu Chun said, "I'm afraid my sister is anxious, and I don't want to bother her. I'll be visiting your home often from now on, so there's no need to be so formal." "You Neng let go and saw him out the door. The two servants carried the food box and followed him.
You Neng went inside and thought, 'What good fortune! I didn't spend a single copper coin, but I got three hundred coins from him, drank with him until midnight, received a beautiful woman, and a large fortune. It's truly rare. This is a lucky break.' As March 15th approached, You Neng thought, 'The appointed time has come, but Brother Liu hasn't come, and I don't know where he lives. That day, I miscalculated and followed him to find his address, which gave me a clue. If he doesn't come now, it's all been for nothing.'" "He was feeling downcast. He paced back and forth until afternoon.
Suddenly, he saw Liu Chun, dressed in fresh clothes, enter the room. You Neng, as if receiving a precious treasure, hurriedly went down the steps to greet him and led him to sit in the hall. You Neng said, 'I was just regretting not sending a small gift to your residence last time. If I had come to invite you today, I would have had no reason to come. I am deeply honored by your kindness.' Liu Chun asked, 'The boat is at the West Gate of the Water. What time is it?' You Neng replied, 'It is sunset at You Shi (5-7 PM), the time of the Golden Chest Yellow Path.'" "He immediately instructed his men to prepare for the wedding, keeping in mind to be frugal in all matters, as money would inevitably be needed, and even if you were to beg for mercy, they wouldn't spend a penny. Soon the appointed time arrived, and the bride was carried to the hall. She alighted from the sedan chair, paid respects to Heaven and Earth, burned paper horses, and her veil was removed, revealing her beautiful face, even more charming than before. As the poem says: '
Her jade-like face is graceful, her hair like clouds, her emerald eyebrows lightly touched with vermilion lips.
Her beautiful eyes hold a captivating charm, her three-inch red lotus blossoms half-open in spring.
Anyone who sees her will be utterly captivated.' Soon, eight heavy leather trunks were brought in and placed in the room. Youneng, a man of great wisdom, didn't invite relatives or neighbors, but only shared a table of wine with Liu Chun and his wife, drinking in the room. Around midnight, Liu Chun took his leave and went downstairs, escorting them to the study for the night. The newlyweds, without hesitation, undressed and went to bed.
Chapter Three: The Newlyweds' Joyful Union."
Now, Liu Chun bid farewell and returned to his study to rest. The couple cleaned up the leftovers and moved to the inner chamber to eat for a while. Although You Neng was nearly forty, he was still quite flirtatious. Seeing that the bride possessed seven or eight parts beauty and three parts disguise, he found her extremely alluring. As they ate and drank, they began to grope each other. The bride became somewhat aroused. You Neng looked at her, her starry eyes sparkling, her hair veiled with desire, and embraced her, kissing her. She then licked her lips, and the two savored the taste. You Neng couldn't resist his lustful desire and got up, hurriedly pulling down her trousers. The bride herself stripped naked and lay back on the bed. You Neng, also completely naked, stepped forward, parted her legs, and looking at her small feet, his desire surged. His penis hardened, aimed at her vulva, and he thrust inside, making the most of the desire. This aroused the bride greatly, causing her to sway her hips and hook her legs together. Even the few drops of sweet dew that could not be held back were all poured into the two petals of the red lotus. The couple dressed and got out of bed, washed their hands and feet, cleaned the dishes, and then got back into bed. The bride then clung to You Neng, slouching and getting dressed haphazardly until four in the morning before finally falling asleep. The next day, after washing and grooming, the couple became inseparable, loving each other deeply. It was truly a case of: "
Keeping oneself content and not seeking excessive blessings, living peacefully and finding joy in simple things."
Liu had been married into the Feng family for almost fifty days when the Dragon Boat Festival arrived. You Neng simply ate a simple meal and did not prepare any celebrations. Liu smiled secretly and said to You Neng, "I heard that watching the dragon boats at the Misty Rain Pavilion is very beautiful. I really want to go see it. Would you be willing?" You Neng thought, "Going to see it will cost a few coins for the boat fare, but because I love him, I cannot be stingy." So he said, "It would be worth it for my wife to go see it." They ate lunch and the couple went to see the boat. The bride, surnamed Liu, entrusted the household affairs to her uncle, Liu Chunshou. The boat sailed directly to the Misty Rain Pavilion. Upon disembarking and climbing the tower, they heard the resounding sound of drums and gongs, echoing for miles around. Looking around, the scene was indeed magnificent. The lake was densely populated, and the restaurants on both sides had floor-to-ceiling windows and vermilion railings. Inside, the fruits were vibrant, and the wine and dishes fragrant and delicious. It was truly a scene of divine grace, a place where immortals left their jade pendants and shared their golden sable furs. The couple looked further in and saw: "
Wine flags flutter in Xinghua Village, jade cups hold amber-colored wine.
A couplet describes the three neighboring families' drunkenness, another reads 'The aroma of wine travels ten miles.'
The wind stirs the smoke, revealing the splendor of the scene; in peaceful times, the festival begins to lengthen.
It can embolden righteous heroes and aid the refined minds of scholars.
Three feet of willow branches encircle the bank, a branch slants beside the apricot blossoms.
Men who have not yet fulfilled their life's ambitions, let them sing and enter the land of drunkenness."
Having seen this, they arrived at the mouth of Yue Fei's tomb. A group of men and women walked to the Yue Wang Hall and bowed to the king. They looked around the hall and saw the cast-iron statue of Qin Hui's long-tongued wife kneeling on the ground. They exited through the back gate, slowly leaving the Rainbow Bridge, and strolled along the Su Causeway. Countless tourists, like ants, and carriages like clouds, were everywhere. Dressed in red and green, they searched for willows and flowers. It was very interesting, and they strolled on without stopping, unaware that the sun was setting and the crescent moon was rising. They were about to go home, but let's leave that aside
for now. Meanwhile, Liu Chun, who had been looking after the Feng family all day, didn't see the couple return home by evening. He went out and went to the neighborhood to drink with his friends. He didn't return until after midnight, finding the gate closed. He knocked a few times, and his maid, Lanxiang, went to open it. Liu Chun, slightly drunk, saw that Lanxiang was beautiful and had always wanted to seduce her, but had never been able to. Tonight, taking advantage of the fact that no one was home, he went up to her, grabbed her, and kissed her. Lanxiang was shocked and wanted to scream, but fearing that outsiders would know, she could only push him away with both hands. Liu Chun resolutely refused to let go and insisted on kissing her. Lanxiang had no choice but to kiss him.
Chapter Four: Little Lanxiang's First Blossom
. Now, Liu Chun kissed Lanxiang and then tried to pull down her pants. Lanxiang refused repeatedly, but he forced her, and she loosened her grip, revealing her snow-white body. Upon seeing this, Liu Chun was ecstatic and hurriedly pulled down his own pants, ready to have his way with her. Lanxiang tightly clamped her legs together, refusing to let go. Liu Chun just kept pushing his penis between Lanxiang's legs. This aroused Lanxiang, and her legs loosened a little. Liu Chun knew she was a virgin and refused to be rough with her (the following is incomplete)...and then dodged. Wouldn't it be better to be husband and wife then? Lanxiang said: "My heart is indeed with you, and I have no parents to hold me back, nor children to keep me. Go as soon as possible." Seeing that she was determined, Liu Chun opened the trunk and carefully packed all the gold, pearls and valuables, and led Lanxiang straight to Wansong Ridge, where they called a boat and headed for Hangzhou. Lanxiang was very happy to see the beautiful scenery of West Lake, and wrote a poem to prove it:
The vast West Lake touches the sky, lotus and willows are in disarray in the autumn mist.
I ask how many mountains there are by the lake, and I will live on each peak for a year.
But let's leave the two of them aside. Now, let's talk about a student named Bian Hong from Beizhili who had a fortune of one million. He was twenty-six years old and went to Nanjing to donate money for his future. When he passed through Jiaxing Prefecture, he heard that the scenery in front of Yanyu Tower was very beautiful. He was overjoyed, so he took a sedan chair and led several servants to the tower. He squeezed inside, looked around, and just then saw his nemesis from a past life. He stared intently at the bride, Liu, without blinking. The more he looked, the more amused he became. The bride was upstairs, laughing and joking freely with her female companions, unaware that someone was peeping. Bian Hong couldn't stand it, just standing there. His family said, "Please go back to your lodgings, sir. The sedan chair bearers are hungry and need to go home for a meal." Bian Hong ignored them. Seeing the bride go downstairs to look around, he followed behind, enjoying the view. Seeing that it was getting late, Feng Youneng and the woman returned to a place near the Misty Rain Pavilion to stay. He figured there were people watching, so he might as well watch for another day, hoping to please the bride.
Having witnessed everything clearly, Bian Hong returned to his residence and said to a trusted servant named Wu Cai, "Go and carefully inquire about the woman's name, where she lives, and her age. Tell me quickly and accurately." Wu Cai obeyed and carefully inquired among the crowd before returning to inform Bian Hong. Bian Hong was at a loss and felt dejected. Wu Cai said, "If you want to get that woman, I have a brilliant plan." Bian Hong said, "Tell me your plan quickly." Wu Cai said, "Sir, you are going home now, which is more than a month's journey from here. Besides, it's your own boat, and you've packed your luggage. There are more than twenty of us, young and old, who will follow you. Tomorrow night, we'll go to his house and hide there. When it gets late, we'll just grab the woman, set sail, and run away like the wind. Unless you have eyes that can see a thousand miles and ears that can hear the wind, you'll have to carry guns and knives, and secretly carry torches, which you'll definitely need." Bian Hong said, "Even so, we can't act rashly. Tonight, you can go into his house and see where we can hide, where we can enter, and where we can leave. Once you're familiar with the route, then you can do it this way." Wu Cai said, "That makes perfect sense." So they ate some food and wine, and asked for directions along the way, heading straight for the Feng family's house.
Chapter Five: The Thief Wu Cai Steals the Red Night Shoes.
Wu Cai headed straight for the Feng family's house, scaling the wall and entering the spacious gate. Seeing that the buildings provided ample cover, he glanced eastward into the garden, noting that this led to the inner chambers. Finding an unlocked door, he sneaked in, only to find no one there. It turned out that only Liu Chun and Lan Xiang were guarding the house; they had escaped during the night, leaving no one in the inner chambers. Wu Cai looked upstairs but saw no one there either. He quietly went upstairs, knowing it was the master bedroom, and went straight to the bed. He saw a pair of large, soft-soled red night shoes beside the pillow, barely three inches long. He tucked them into his sleeve, quietly went downstairs, and retraced his steps. He met the master, Bian Hong, and explained the situation. Bian Hong was overjoyed and said, "If this succeeds, there will be a great reward. There's just one thing: the other day I saw that woman was very beautiful, and I could vaguely see her under her skirt, but I couldn't see clearly. What if she had large feet? Wouldn't that be disappointing?" Wu Cai asked, "What if she had small feet?" Bian Hong said, "If she had small feet, I'll reward you with one hundred taels of silver." Wu Cai said, "Quickly, give me fifty taels." He then took the shoes from his sleeve and handed them to Bian Hong. Bian Hong held them in his hands as if they were precious treasures. Wu Cai said, "Everyone, go to bed early tonight; we need to get to work tomorrow." Bian Hong instructed everyone to give five qian of silver to buy wine and drink. He assured them that if they worked together tomorrow, there would be a great reward after the success. Everyone was happy and went to drink. Bian Hong drank alone, placing the shoes in front of him, looking at them and then eating them, eating them and then looking at them again. Until late into the night, he placed the shoes beside his pillow and went to sleep.
The next morning, they got up early, paid the innkeeper's bill, and unloaded all their luggage onto the boat. Wu Cai bought torches, packed up their equipment, and after everyone had some food and drink, they all followed Wu Cai. Only a young servant was left to attend to their master. When Wu Cai arrived, he led everyone into the courtyard one by one, and then looked around the gate of the inn for a while. As evening approached, Feng Youneng and the woman immediately rowed the boat back home. They went inside, but the maid was nowhere to be seen. They searched all around, but the back door was open, and they couldn't find Liu Chun anywhere. Youneng was shocked and rushed upstairs to check. All the trunks and baskets were gone, and there was nothing left. He exclaimed, "Oh no! We've been tricked!" He collapsed, tears streaming down his face. The woman beside him tried to comfort him. Wu Cai, seeing this, lit two torches, and together they quietly went inside, shouted, grabbed the bride Liu, and ran away. You Neng hurriedly went downstairs and, along with the two servants rowing the boat, went to the outer gate, but there was no one there. They searched frantically for Liu Shi, but to no avail.
Wu Cai led the group, and without any hindrance, they ran onto the boat. They set off with three oars, and the boat sped away. Wu Cai put the bride down, and Bian Hong stepped forward. He recognized her as the woman he had seen the day before. He bowed deeply and said, "Don't be alarmed." The bride, seeing a young man wearing a headscarf, asked, "Who are you? Why have you brought me here? What do you want to say?" Bian Hong replied, "Please sit down, madam, and allow me to explain. I am Bian Hong, from Beizhili, and a student of the Imperial Academy. Yesterday, while sightseeing, I saw your beautiful face and couldn't sleep all night. When I fell asleep that night, I dreamt of a divine being who instructed me: 'Liu Shi and you have a predestined relationship spanning several years; this is how it must be for it to come to fruition. When the time is right, return her properly.'" The couple were reunited. "Therefore, I have acted rashly, hoping that my wife will heed the words of the divine being for good fortune." The bride said, "Dreaming is absurd. You are a scholar; how can you commit such a robbery? Take me home properly, and I will give you gold and silk. If you do not comply, I will throw myself into this river, and even as a ghost, I will not follow you." Bian Hong said, "I already have over a million in gold and silk; it is not rare. But my wife is so beautiful; truly rare. I will house her in a golden house when we return home, and I hope she will submit." Having said this, he laid out a box of food and a pot of white wine. The bride began to weep, refusing to sit. She considered drowning herself, but because she was six months pregnant, she feared the extinction of the Feng family line. She was dizzy and only wept bitterly. Bian Hong, having no other choice, asked, "How far have we traveled?" She replied, "Over sixty li." "In that case, you should all go to sleep." The boatman responded and went to sleep. The bride wept incessantly, and Bian Hong pulled her to sit down and drink. The bride ran into the aft cabin and closed the door.
(Chapter Six: Bian Hong Teases the Bride
While Sailing) The bride ran into the aft cabin and closed the door. Bian Hong laughed, "All four doors can be opened, what's the use of closing them?" He then took a lamp, a wine pot, kicked open the cabin door, and placed them on the table. He also took the box, arranged it properly, and went to invite the bride. There, he saw Lady Liu sitting on the bed, weeping bitterly. Bian Hong said, “My lady, things have come to this. If I were to send you home now, it would be like a rare flower losing its luster, or a beautiful jade becoming flawed. It would be better to follow the words of the gods, to end this predestined relationship, and after it is fulfilled, I will send you home so that you and your husband can be together again.” The bride said, “Don’t you have a wife at home? If someone else takes her away and ends our predestined relationship, how would you feel?” Bian Hong said, “My wife is only twenty years old. Although she is not naturally beautiful, she is still quite charming. However, she has never been with me, and we are incompatible. We don’t even speak to each other. But now that I have seen you, my lady, I feel as if I have found a treasure. If you would be so kind as to accept me, I would be more than satisfied.” He quickly poured a large cup of wine and offered it to the bride, Liu, with both hands. Liu ignored him. Bian Hong said, “My lady, you are both frightened and hungry. If you don’t eat, you will starve to death here, and no one at home will know.” As he spoke, he knelt down.
Seeing his state, the bride was both angry and pitying, and said, "Put the cup on the edge of the bed." Bian Hong quickly put down the wine, went to fetch a piece of roasted meat, and knelt down, saying, "Please, my wife, have a cup of wine." The bride took the cup, breathed on it, and Bian Hong offered her the roasted meat. The bride was indeed hungry and took a piece to eat. Bian Hong said, "Please, my wife, eat it all before I get up." The bride had no choice but to finish it. Bian Hong got up and poured a large cup. The bride said, "I can't eat anymore." After saying this, she looked at the pillow and saw a pair of women's shoes. The bride asked, "Where did this come from? Could it be your wife's?" Bian Hong replied, "Even if my wife had this, what use would she have brought it? This was given to me in a dream by a deity yesterday. He said, 'If Lady Liu doesn't believe, you can give him this shoe as proof, and he will naturally grant your wish and complete this marriage.'" The bride held it up to the lamp and saw that it was indeed the right one. She thought to herself, "Where could I not have found it last night? How could such a strange thing happen?" She began to believe it. Bian Hong asked, "How do you feel now, my wife?" The bride replied, "Since it's a predestined relationship, I can't escape it. I'm three months pregnant, and I've already broken off all contact with my husband at home. I must wait until after I give birth before I can have you." Bian Hong said, "Even if we don't do anything, it's alright if you sleep with me." The bride remained silent. Bian Hong then urged her to drink some wine. The bride had no choice but to drink another cup. The wine was easy to swallow. Firstly, the wine was too strong on his stomach, and secondly, it was too strong. He became dizzy and couldn't sit still. He quickly went to the bedside, changed his shoes, and fell asleep fully clothed.
Bian Hong was delighted to see him drunk. He drank a few more cups himself, then went to the bedside. Seeing the bride fast asleep, he quietly unbuttoned her dress, revealing a pair of bright red trousers. He was truly aroused. He used his hands to lift her waist and pulled them down, revealing her white, loose legs, like snowflakes. He removed his own towel and clothes, lowered the red silk curtains, and climbed onto the bride, spreading her legs. He gently inserted his penis, finding it incredibly beautiful. After thrusting for a while, the bride, initially fast asleep, woke up as Bian Hong's ministrations caused waves of vaginal fluid to flow. She sighed, but because her lower body was itchy, she didn't make any pretense of pleasure. Bian Hong was overjoyed. He stripped the bride naked, placed her legs on his shoulders, and flattered her profusely, whispering in her ear, "Is it good?" The bride nodded. Bian Hong stuck out his tongue, and the bride took it in her mouth, creating a sweet sensation. Soon, the passion subsided. Bian Hong got out of bed to wash his hands, and the bride put on her clothes and got out of bed to wash and shave.
Bian Hong then pulled her to drink some wine. The bride said, "I can't eat anymore." He asked, "How old are you? Who else is in your family? How did you become so wealthy?" Bian Hong replied, "I am twenty-five years old. My wife is Wang Rui Niang, and we have fifty-two servants and women in total. Our ancestors became wealthy by buying cotton. Now we own a hundred acres." The bride said, "If you want me to go back to your home, what will you take me for?" Bian Hong said, "I will be your principal wife. My lady, do you expect me to be your concubine?" The bride said, "I have no clothes on, no hair, what should I do?" Bian Hong said, "I have brought over twenty boxes of fabric from the capital, you can use them as you like. Let me give you a few ready-made clothes to dress you up before we go home." (
Chapter Seven: Feng You Neng draws a lucky divination slip
and receives good news.) Meanwhile, the two were deeply in love again. They resumed their marital bliss and slept until late at night.
Meanwhile, Feng You Neng was at home and had people search for him all night, but they couldn't find him. The next morning, he wrote dozens of notices and posted them everywhere, searching for several days without finding a single clue. He then went to the shrine, sincerely fasting and bathing. He knelt and poured out his heart, saying, "If I could be reunited with my husband, I beg for the best divination slip." He drew the seventy-first slip, the poem of which read: "
Magpies bring good news before the eaves, as if longing to return from a thousand miles away.
The embroidered chamber is re-tied with mandarin ducks, leaves fall and frost encroaches upon the house.
" He thought, "The poem seems to suggest a reunion; I beg for another slip to resolve my doubts." He then drew the fifteenth slip, the poem of which read: "
The two families are of equal standing; if not destined for marriage, do not contend.
Waiting for good news from the east wind, they will play music in their boudoir.
" Feng Youneng, after reading this, was filled with doubt and knelt again, praying, "This foolish disciple cannot understand it at once. If I am reunited, please grant me a word in the poem." He shook the divination stick container again, and two sticks fell to the ground. The first is the forty-third divination slip, with the poem: "
A document is urgently needed, a small boat swiftly sets sail, tears like thunder.
Though there is much fear now, I guarantee your safe return.
" Seeing the character "回" (return), one says, "Alright." Then looking at the other slip, the seventy-fourth, another poem reads: "
Lofty, lofty, and more lofty, traversing danger as if on flat ground, going and returning.
Body like Bodhi, heart like a mirror, spring returns to Chang'an.
" Those who see the character "回" in both slips bow and say, "If husband and wife are reunited, I wish to rebuild the temple and replace the statues."
But let's leave that aside. Meanwhile, Bian Hong's boat had reached the riverbank. He went home first and told his servants, "The bride has arrived, quickly prepare a feast." He then sent people to invite relatives and neighbors. They went upstairs to fetch her clothes and had a sedan chair carried to the boat. After disembarking and dressing Liu, they were taken to the hall. The two bowed to heaven and earth, and the men and women of the household came to kowtow, all calling her "Great Mother." The bride went upstairs and looked around the room. Sure enough, there were twenty-four leather trunks neatly arranged on both sides. There were four maids serving in the room.
Let's talk about Wu Cai's wife, named Quan Xiang. She was originally from the south. Wu Cai was a bandit who, seeing Quan Xiang's beauty and small feet, fell enamored with her. He tricked her on the road and sent her here to become a slave in Bian Hong's household. That's why she came to his room to serve him. The bride, seeing his gentle and elegant demeanor, also liked him very much. All the relatives and friends said that he had married this beautiful woman fairly and justly, and all the relatives and friends respected him. At first, Liu was indignant, but later, seeing that they were ten times richer than the Feng family, and that Bian Hong was young and very sensible, she accepted it. That night, Bian Hong and Liu went upstairs, and he took Liu to sleep. Liu undressed and lay down on the pillow. Bian Hong cupped her face, bit her cheek, and said, "Beautiful girl, I, Bian Hong, am so lucky." After saying this, he went straight to the balcony. Liu's lotus feet were half-raised, her jade-like body fully revealed, her starry eyes filled with affection, her willow waist swaying gently, thus fully revealing their love on the pillow. Bian Hong was extremely pleased and exclaimed, "My darling, who is better, your ex-husband or me?" Liu replied, "You are better." Bian Hong said, "Since you are better, why don't you call me that?" Liu whispered, "My sweetheart, you make me so happy." Bian Hong then teased her quite a bit. Liu readily agreed, and they were both satisfied. From then on, the two were happy day and night, like fish in water, but they ignored his wife, Ruiniang.
Ruiniang was only twenty years old and quite beautiful. She was very jealous at night and found it hard to sleep alone. She had a servant in her room named Baoyu, who was seventeen or eighteen years old, clever and witty, and she loved him very much, but she had no way to seduce him. So she came up with a plan, and that would make her happy for the rest of her life.
In Chapter Eight, Li Ruiniang plots to deceive young Baoyu
. Ruiniang was plotting to seduce Baoyu for lifelong pleasure. Just as Baoyu and Ruiniang were bringing in tea, Ruiniang looked at her and said, "Baoyu, your aunt isn't feeling well today. Bring me a basin of bathwater tonight so I can use it. Don't be late." Baoyu readily agreed and left.
After lunch, it soon turned to dusk. Baoyu instructed the maids in the kitchen to prepare the bathwater. Around midnight, Baoyu carried a large wooden basin upstairs with Ruiniang. Ruiniang was completely naked, her snow-white bottom exposed, sitting on the bed, waiting for Baoyu. As soon as Baoyu brought the bathwater into the room and saw Ruiniang naked, he was terrified and tried to leave. Rui Niang stepped forward and grabbed him, saying, "You child, why are you acting like a stranger? I have no one to wash me, what are you doing here?" Bao Yu said, "Madam is the mistress of the house, how dare I do this?" Rui Niang said, "No one is here, it's alright if you wash the dirt off my body." Helpless, Bao Yu cupped some water in his hands and splashed it on Rui Niang a few times. Rui Niang pretended to be seductive, spreading her legs and lying there, her little feet constantly stretching and bending. This aroused Bao Yu's erection, and he hurriedly climbed onto Rui Niang and thrust in. Rui Niang's lower body was aroused, and her lustful fluids flowed out. She squeezed them and felt them as hot as iron. The two of them were together, each enjoying themselves, and they uttered many lewd names. Bao Yu then picked up Jinlian and carefully watched the scene of her entering and exiting, finding it very interesting. After one thrust, they both lost their erections and fell asleep. Until dawn, Rui Niang woke up first and called Bao Yu to go downstairs. From then on, the two of them spent every night together, their love for each other intense. But that goes without saying.
Now, let's talk about the bride, Liu. Since arriving at Bian Hong's house, time flew by, and before she knew it, winter had ended and spring had arrived. Peonies bloomed in his garden. Seeing them, the bride couldn't help but think of her beloved, tears welling in her eyes. By early summer, she was fully pregnant and gave birth to a son, very handsome. Liu was secretly delighted, and on the third day after his birth, she held a banquet. However, because Liu was unwell after childbirth, Bian Hong was very lonely and often idled in the back garden. Suddenly, Quanxiang brought a cup of tea to the study in the garden. Bian Hong took it and asked, "Has your husband, Wu Cai, returned yet?" Quanxiang replied, "My husband sent him to the mansion to buy some odds and ends. How can he return? It will probably be another five or six days." Bian Hong said, "Your mistress is unwell, and I am lonely. Can you cheer me up?" Quanxiang blushed upon hearing this and left. Bian Hong pulled her close and kissed her. Quan Xiang lowered her head, refusing. Bian Hong said, "My dear, I've always wanted to be like this with you, never letting you have the upper hand. Today, since no one's around, you can't refuse." Quan Xiang said, "I'm afraid it might be inconvenient if someone sees us. You can
wait for me in the room tonight, my husband." Bian Hong let go of her hand and said, "Don't forget." Quan Xiang left with a smile. That evening, Bian Hong said to his bride, "A friend invited me to see a night play tonight, so I can't go back." He pretended to change into a new dress and went downstairs. He quietly walked to Wu Cai's room and saw that there was still a light on inside. He gently tapped the door. Quan Xiang opened the door, and Bian Hong went inside. He saw that the room was elegant and charming, with a bed and curtains, embroidered pillows and brocade quilts, no less beautiful than his own boudoir. Quan Xiang had already laid out several exquisite dishes and was holding a pot of floral wine, which she poured into a golden cup, urging Bian Hong to drink. Bian Hong asked, "Where did you get this pair of golden cups?" Quan Xiang replied, "Husband, don't you know my husband's character?" She then recounted in detail how Wu Cai had become a thief and how she had tricked him. Bian Hong said, "No wonder you were so bold when you snatched the bride. I will surely eliminate this scourge so that we can live happily ever after." The two sat down together. Bian Hong held Quan Xiang in his arms, and they drank wine mouth-to-mouth. Quan Xiang asked, "If my wife is looking for you, what's wrong?" Bian Hong told her about watching the night play. Quan Xiang laughed, "That explains why you came out in new clothes." Seeing Quan Xiang's affectionate manner, Bian Hong was delighted.
Chapter Nine: The Head of the Household's Affair with Little Quan Xiang
; The Beauty of Xi Shi at the Playhouse; The Flying Swallow of Zhaoyang. A wife with three parts beauty and a mountain of wives, such is the taste.
The concubine is buried at Mawei; Zhaojun's green tomb weeps. Such beauty has turned to ashes; why bother to separate them?
Meanwhile, Bian Hong, aroused, drank a few more cups, then removed his clothes, laid Quan Xiang down on the bed, and upon removing her garments, saw a body as white as jade, without a single flaw; a face that could shame a flower, yet possessed a thousand kinds of allure. Her feet wore a pair of small, adorable red shoes, which greatly aroused him, and he indulged in his pleasure. He then pinched her small feet a few times, hoisted them onto his shoulders, and looking at her fair body, wished he could devour her whole, and indulged in his pleasure for a while. Quanxiang's juices flowed incessantly. Bian Hong looked down and saw fine, soft grass, a small opening in the flesh. He stroked it with his hand and said, "My darling, you are so plump and lovely. I want to be your lotus flower, and I'll watch you go in and out from below. Would you agree?" Quanxiang replied, "My lord has made me feel so alive and dead, how could I not agree?" She then clung to Bian Hong, pressing her vulva against her itchy spot, shaking it, rubbing it, and rubbing it against him. Suddenly, a wave of tingling and numbness washed over her, and they both lost their desire. Bian Hong often used the excuse of getting Wu Cai out of Liu's sight to do this, but that's another story.
Now, Liu had given birth to a little boy, who had unknowingly grown to six years old. They hired a tutor to teach him to read. The boy was clever and didn't forget what he read. One day, Bian Hong was away from home, and a friend recommended a fortune teller. This man was called Zhang Tiezui, and he often told fortunes to the heads of various wealthy families. Madam Liu asked him to calculate her son's birth chart, and he said, "This birth chart indicates that he will leave his ancestral home while still in the womb, and his future wealth and honor will be immeasurable." After calculating, he told her the birth chart of Bian Hong. Tiezui calculated, "This is also a noble birth chart, destined for both wealth and honor, but there is one drawback: few children and a shorter lifespan." Madam Liu told him the birth chart of Feng De, and Tiezui said, "This noble birth chart seems to have been calculated somewhere before." Madam Liu said, "Please calculate the birth chart of the women." She then gave him her own birth chart. Tie Zui calculated for a moment, then slapped his hand on the table and said, "That's it! These two birth charts were calculated last year at the residence of Feng Jiansheng in Xiushui. This woman's fate was destined for ten years of bad luck; she would die eventually. If she didn't die, she would surely perish. Fortunately, she is a kind person and her life was spared. When did you have your fortune told?" Liu asked, "When did you have your fortune told at his house?" Tie Zui replied, "I had it done again this February. The man's fate was also going badly. At that time, his house caught fire, burning the entire house to the ground, and all his valuables were looted." Liu said, "How tragic!" and began to cry. She then asked, "Sir, I wish to send this letter to him. If you are willing, please do so, and I will give you five taels of silver." Tie Zui happily said, "Why not go then?" Liu then asked Quan Xiang to fetch paper and pen. After writing the letter, she immediately sealed it, took five taels of silver, and sent Tie Zui out.
Iron-Tongued traveled day and night, and after more than a day, he arrived at Xiushui. He met Feng De and said, "In Zhenping County, Beizhi, a relative of yours asked me to send you a letter." Feng De, bewildered, opened the letter and saw it was in Liu's handwriting. Tears welled in his eyes as he asked, "Sir, what family does he live with in Zhenping?" Iron-Tongued replied, "The wealthiest family in Zhenping. If you go, you'll have a small fortune." Feng De said, "I have no travel expenses; how can I go?" Iron-Tongued said, "It's not difficult. Your relative sent me five taels of silver with the letter, which I haven't touched. I'll lend you two taels; you can pay me back in the second half of the year." He then took out a two-tael ingot from his pocket, which had been weighed, and handed it to Feng De. Feng De thanked him profusely. Iron-Tongued then departed.
Feng De thought to himself, "I've always valued silver like precious jewels, never caring for the poor or spending a single penny on them. Now I'm in this predicament. If I hadn't met such a kind person, how could I have survived? From now on, I will never value money so much again." The next day, he sold some of the heavy items in his house and bought a few taels of silver to buy a new bed. He hid one of Liu's sachet with him and, along with a servant, traveled the city.
(Chapter 10: Lanxiang's Mistaken Encounter with the Bookworm
- Let's leave aside Feng De and the servant's journey.) Meanwhile, Liu Chun and Lanxiang, having been happy at Feng's house, left. Having arrived in Hangzhou, they idled away their time, and within a year, their savings were gone. With no livelihood to speak of, and seeing their wealth dwindling, they sighed deeply, lamenting, "There's
no way to heaven, no way to hell."
Liu Chun, feeling utterly dejected, went straight into the city. Lanxiang was outside with a silver ingot (the bottom part is missing). She said, "If you're willing to take pity on me, I'll give you some fruit to eat." Lanxiang was eager to have it, but he only cared about her being a courtesan, so she just smiled. Seeing her smile, the man took it as a yes, stepped forward, grabbed her, and started to undress her. Lanxiang panicked, wanting to cry out, but then she thought of the silver ingot. She wanted to submit, but feared her husband would catch her. Hesitating, she was already in his hands. Although Lanxiang resisted, she said, "I am not a courtesan, but a respectable woman. Seeing you are young, I respect your dignity and cannot bear to cry out. I will grant your wish. Please do not spread this, for I am grateful for your kindness." The man said, "Having shared a pillow with you is the greatest fortune of my life. I hope we can meet again to repay your kindness." Lanxiang said, "Finish quickly, or my husband will see us. What will I do?" The man finished quickly, straightened his clothes, and went downstairs. He said to Lanxiang, "I will come to see you again." Lanxiang nodded, and the man left.
Lanxiang closed the door, went upstairs, and thought, laughing and laughing again, "So there are such bookworms in Hangzhou. If I meet a few like this every year, I won't have to worry about food." Then she thought, "How can I tell Liu Chun the truth? Well, he kidnapped me. Will he be jealous?" Just then, Liu Chun pushed open the door and came upstairs. He saw Lanxiang and looked worried. Lanxiang asked, "Where have you been all this time? Is there any business to be done?" Liu Chun replied, "I see that all the shops in the city have capital. Even small businesses can't make enough to cover the capital. I just came back from the stone pagoda and saw those young ladies, all dressed in bright red and green, joking and laughing freely with those young men. It seems like a good business opportunity." Lanxiang laughed and said, "So you've found a dead-end business." Liu Chun sighed. Lanxiang said, "If you have this idea, I'll follow you." Liu Chun was overjoyed and said, "If my dear mother saves my life, I will never forget her." Lanxiang laughed and said, "The signboard is already up, and someone has gone to make a living." She then took the silver ingot and described the person's situation. Liu Chun laughed and said, "This time, my husband and I won't starve to death." Liu Chun hurriedly went to buy some wine and food, and he and Lanxiang drank and slept.
The next day, Lanxiang dressed even more beautifully and stood at the door. These bookish men, seeing his striking good looks, were immediately flocked to him, their carriages and horses never ceasing. Liu Chun, now an official, enjoyed the leftovers and wine to his heart's content, but that's another story.
Meanwhile, Feng De and a servant, having spent more than a day in Zhenping City, found an inn to settle down. The next morning, they inquired about the Bian family's gate and instructed the servant to carry a sachet, saying, "Just go in. If anyone asks you, say Liu Chun has come to see his bride; do not write my name, Feng." The servant replied, "No need for such instructions," and went inside. It so happened that Bian Hong had gone to the countryside that day and was not home, so no one answered. The servant went to the back of the hall and happened to see a woman. The servant said, "Please tell her that Master Liu of Xiushui has come to see his bride." Quanxiang understood the reason and invited Master Liu downstairs. Upon seeing her, the servant said, "The esteemed gentleman has come to see His Highness." He then handed over the sachet to Master Liu.
Chapter Eleven: The Scented Sachet Leads to a Reunion of the Couple.

It is said that Lady Liu received the scented sachet and looked at it, saying, "Quickly, invite him in." A short while later, the maid returned with Feng De and invited him into the front hall. Lady Liu greeted him, and upon seeing each other, both choked with emotion. After exchanging greetings, the two wept together. The maids all thought they were brother and sister, but only Quanxiang knew they were husband and wife. Because the bride treated Quanxiang like a sister, Quanxiang was extremely grateful. Furthermore, the bride knew about Bian Hong stealing from her but did not question it, so Quanxiang did not mention the letter to Bian Hong. This was a case of two good things coming together.
Now, Liu Shi stopped weeping and invited Feng De upstairs to sit down. She explained everything that had happened, saying, "I was just about to die because I have a child, your flesh and blood, and I fear your family line will end. He's six years old now and is studying in the study." Feng De asked, "What should you name him?" Liu Shi replied, "I chose his name, Sanyuan." Just then, Quanxiang brought him upstairs, saying, "Uncle, you've arrived." Sanyuan bowed to Feng De. Feng De saw that he was handsome and was delighted. He asked, "My dear child, what book are you reading?" Sanyuan replied, "The Analects." Feng De asked him a question, and he recited it fluently. Feng De was overjoyed. Quanxiang set out a table of wine and said, "Brothers and sisters, please sit upstairs. Stay here tonight; there's no need to go to the study." Liu invited her husband to sit and whispered in his ear, "Tomorrow I'll give you some gold and silver. Take it to the innkeeper and hide it. We'll gradually transport several thousand taels, hire boats, secretly arrange a date, take the child, and escape back to our hometown. Wouldn't that be wonderful?" Feng De was delighted and said, "Only with a virtuous wife like this can I truly understand my heart." They agreed and drank some wine. Quanxiang tidied up and sent the maid downstairs to sleep.
Liu locked the door and went to get the key. She opened the gold and silver chest and took out bundles of things, totaling several thousand taels, along with countless pearls, jade, and gold treasures. The couple then went to bed. Feng De embraced Liu and made love. Liu lay on her back, and after a passionate night of lovemaking, they fell asleep together. The next morning, she got up early to prepare, slipped on her sleeve, and went out, taking several hundred servants with her. They left several times a day, unbeknownst to the innkeeper. In less than three days, the shipment was completed.
Feng De said to Liu Shi, "The goods have been transported. I think that without foresight, there will be immediate worries. We previously discussed escaping together, but I fear the boats are heavy and slow. If our families catch up, our lives will be in danger, and even the child will not survive. It would be better if I went home first, used the silver to build a house, and renovate the belongings, making everything ready. Then I will come to see you again, and I can leave as the time permits. It would be much more convenient to be empty-handed. I'm just afraid that if I look for the gold and silver and find it gone, how will I explain it to you?" Liu Shi said, "There is gold and silver in this mezzanine. The silver is going in every day and never going out. You can take it without worry. But I don't know when you will come again?" Feng De said, "At most next year." Liu Shi said with tears in her eyes, "I am here now, and each day feels like a year. Please don't forget me." Feng De said, "There is no time to lose. You should go now." Liu Shi prepared wine to see him off and took out a pair of gold bracelets and two gold hairpins, handing them to Feng De. After finishing their drink, they parted in tears. Feng De went straight to the innkeeper, paid the room fee, and found a boat to return home. He met Tie Zui and returned the twenty taels of silver to him. Tie Zui was extremely grateful, which goes without saying.
Meanwhile, that day, Bian Hong deliberately sent Wu Cai away so he could have some fun with Quan Xiang. Unexpectedly, one night, while he and Quan Xiang were asleep, before dawn, they became aroused again, embracing and making love. Just as they were enjoying themselves, Wu Cai, who had drunk heavily in the city, rushed home through the night. He opened the gate and headed straight for his room. He felt the door and found it unlocked. Wu Cai thought, "Why did he go to sleep with the door open?" Just then, he heard a noise from inside the room. He quietly approached the bedside and heard a low voice say, "Is it good?" Quanxiang replied, "It's good." "Did you enjoy it?" Quanxiang said, "I enjoyed it." Then he heard, "Who did it better, your husband or I?" Quanxiang said, "My husband is vulgar, how could this gentleman be so sensible?" Wu Cai was furious upon hearing this, and his anger flared up. He took a sharp knife from his boot, touched Bian Hong's hair, lifted him up, and slashed his neck. His throat was severed, and he fell to the side, dying. He then looked for Quanxiang, but there was no sign of her. He didn't know where she was hiding. Chapter Twelve: Both Die Under the Two-Colored Ghost's Knife.
It is said that Wu Cai went to look for Quanxiang, but she was nowhere to be found. He hurriedly searched outside, but still couldn't find her. He lit a lamp and returned to the room to see who the adulterer was. He shone the lamp and cried out in despair. As the saying goes, "To catch adulterers, you must be in the same boat." If the adulterous woman escapes, even killing the adulterer will cost him his life. Moreover, having killed his master without permission, he feared he would be torn to pieces. What to do? He thought, "I must gather the gold and silver and leave as soon as possible." He opened the chest, took out the gold and silver, and was about to leave when he tripped over the corpse, fell, and was covered in blood. The neighbor's servant, hearing the thud, was still in bed and exclaimed, "Thief!" Wu Cai, hearing this, panicked. Looking at himself, covered in blood, he blurted out in desperation, "How many people have I killed in the past? This death is deserved!" He grabbed a sharp knife, stabbed it into his throat, and collapsed to the ground. Everyone heard the commotion and came to see what was happening. They found two corpses on the ground and immediately reported it to the bride, Rui Niang.
It turned out that Quanxiang had witnessed Wu Cai committing the crime, so she got out of bed, tore off her clothes, and went straight to the inside to knock on the door. She told Liu that Wu Cai had killed Bian Hong. The bride, unaware of the situation, told him to lock the door, get dressed, and stay upstairs, waiting for someone to come and report: "Madam, something terrible has happened! My husband has been killed in Wu Cai's room, and Wu Cai has also been killed on the ground." Liu was shocked and led Quanxiang outside in a few quick steps. Upon seeing the body, she burst into tears. Quanxiang, leaning against Wu Cai's corpse, also began to weep. Everyone said, "We don't know why they were both killed here." Madam Liu knew it was an affair, but refused to speak. She simply placed a large, heavy bundle on the ground on the table, opened it, and said, "Yes, it's true. Gold and silver were stolen from my room. The master found out it was Wu Cai who stole them. This morning, while Wu Cai was away, Quanxiang went upstairs early and searched the house, finding the stolen goods. This wicked servant returned unexpectedly, saw that he had been caught, and killed his master. He was about to pack a bundle of belongings to leave when, fearing arrest, he committed suicide in desperation. Look at his neck; it's a self-inflicted wound." Everyone looked and indeed it was a self-inflicted wound. She immediately instructed everyone to check the chests and boxes; there were five in total. "Carry them inside," she said. She ordered the steward to buy a fine coffin and a five-tael coffin, and to carry them to the main hall. Scriptures were chanted and repentance rites were performed. The obituary stated that Bian Sanyuan had become a filial son. Relatives all came to pay their respects, and the coffin was taken out after the forty-ninth day memorial service. Lady Liu showered kindness upon all, men and women alike, rewarding them with gold and silver on special occasions and holidays. Everyone was grateful to her.
Rui Niang, seeing her husband dead, ceased her affair with Bao Yu and, together with Quan Xiang, lived with Lady Liu in her room. As the hundred-day mourning period passed and the New Year approached, Lady Liu, missing Feng De, was just about to arrive. Upon hearing of Bian Hong's death, Feng De first sent for the funeral offerings before entering the hall to pay his respects before the spirit tablet and return the gifts. Seeing Lady Liu inside, he was both sorrowful and joyful, and recounted the entire story in detail. Liu said happily, "This million-dollar fortune is all ours now. We can't go back yet. We should wait until our child grows up, marries, and then we can return home together." Feng De said, "My wise wife is right. I think Heaven has eyes. Bian Hong's intention to separate us is surely divine retribution." Liu said, "Wu Cai's suicide was also divine retribution." She then explained her life as a thief and how she later abducted women, and Feng De finally understood. Quan Xiang brought out the wine, and Liu pointed to Rui Niang and Quan Xiang, saying, "These are Bian Hong's wife and Wu Cai's wife. They are refined and cultured. You can take them as your wives, and they will be my wives." Rui Niang and Quan Xiang went downstairs. Feng De said, "No." Liu said, "If we don't, who will manage the household affairs when we return home?" Feng De nodded. That evening, he secretly made love to the two of them. Feng De did not return home. The entire family knew he was the mistress's husband, but because of Lady Liu's favor, they kept quiet.
Later, when Sanyuan came of age, he married the daughter of a wealthy man named Wang from the area, reverted to his original surname, sold his house and land to a wealthy family, gave his belongings to his in-laws, took his hidden gold, jewels, and valuables, and, along with his wife, Feng De, his wife, and his stepmother, went straight back to their hometown, where they enjoyed great wealth and luxury. Indeed:
good and evil will eventually be rewarded; it's only a matter of sooner or later.
