Chapter 101 Goodbye

Cheng Xiaoyu Tonight was more passionate than ever before. She clung to Yan Yu, making love again and again. Finally,
when Yan Yu held her and gave her her medicine, she was almost unconscious, her eyes closed, only her mouth open as she swallowed the medicine. Yan Yu helped
Cheng Xiaoyu clean up, turned off the light, and tenderly hugged her, kissing her face a few more times before closing his eyes.
Cheng Xiaoyu's almost frantic reaction revealed her inner unease. Yan Yu, having been with her for so long, wouldn't be so oblivious as to
not notice this, but he assumed her unease was only because of Ye Lan, never considering any other possibilities.
He had indeed not handled Ye Lan's matter well. He had always thought that as long as it didn't cross the line, he should help Ye Lan
as much as he could, knowing exactly where his heart lay. He was sorry to Ye Lan, but if this mistake made in
his youth had to be made up for with his feelings for Cheng Xiaoyu, then he could only choose to continue
to be sorry to Ye Lan.

The next morning, Yan Yu bought breakfast and came back. Cheng Xiaoyu didn't come downstairs. Yan Yu went upstairs and opened the
bedroom door. The lazy girl was still fast asleep. Yan Yu chuckled and lifted the blanket, giving her bare bottom
a light slap. "You'll be late if you keep sleeping!"

Cheng Xiaoyu pouted and wrapped herself up in the blanket again, muttering,
"I don't want to go to work, I'm sleepy."

Yan Yu said, "You really aren't going to work?" They had stayed up a little late last night, but
Cheng Xiaoyu had never acted like this in all the time they'd been together. Yan Yu pulled the blanket off Cheng Xiaoyu's head and touched her forehead. It wasn't hot;
she didn't have a fever.

Cheng Xiaoyu nuzzled against his hand that was touching her face like a kitten, looking at him with half-closed eyes. "Don't go to work
, stay home with me."

Yan Yu smiled, "What's gotten into you today?"

"Don't go to work," Cheng Xiaoyu opened her mouth and gently bit Yan Yu's finger, "Just don't go."

Yan Yu thought for a moment and said, "No, I have to go to the company this morning, I have things to do."

Seeing that Yan Yu wouldn't agree, Cheng Xiaoyu huffed and crawled back into the blanket. Yan Yu called her again, but she
wouldn't answer. Yan Yu coaxed her a few more times, saying he would come back after lunch, before going downstairs.

Around noon, Yan Yu called Ye Lan to ask if she was free for lunch. Ye Lan said
she was , and Yan Yu said, "Then bring all the documents for Shanghai, and we'll meet at Jin Hai Bay at noon."

Yan Yu waited for about five minutes at the entrance of the Golden Bay Steakhouse before Ye Lan arrived. Once inside, Yan
Yu asked the waiter, "Do you have a private room?"

Ye Lan replied, "The small private rooms are too cramped. Let's sit by the window." She then walked to a seat overlooking
the bay square and sat down, leaving Yan Yu no choice but to follow.

They each ordered a steak set meal. After the food arrived, Yan Yu had only taken a couple of bites with his knife and fork when
Ye Lan picked up a tissue and reached over to wipe his cheek. "You've got sauce on it."

Yan Yu dodged, wiping his face with his own hand, but nothing came off.

Ye Lan casually took the tissue back, laughing, "Why did you bring me this information? Are you
worried you need to review it yourself?"

Yan Yu said, "Let's eat first, we'll talk about it after we finish."

The two silently finished their set meals. The waiter cleared away the cutlery and brought over two glasses of juice.

Yan Yu held out his hand and said, "Let me see the documents first."

Ye Lan placed a large stack of documents in Yan Yu's hands. Yan Yu opened them, flipped through a couple of pages at random, and then looked up and said,
"You don't need to go to tomorrow's negotiations. Have the administration department cancel your plane ticket and hotel room later.
I'll go to Shanghai myself this afternoon. I'll review these documents carefully tonight. If there's anything unclear, I
'll call you."

Ye Lan leaned back on the sofa and looked at Yan Yu, saying, "Can I ask why?"

Yan Yu said, "It's not convenient for a man and woman to be alone together."

Ye Lan smiled, "Why didn't you feel it was inconvenient before?"

"You were the one who facilitated this deal. President Zhou said I should bring you with me when we officially sign the agreement."

"And now? Has the situation changed?"

"It has changed. Xiao Yu doesn't like me always appearing with you."

Ye Lan didn't speak, only looking into Yan Yu's eyes, and Yan Yu looked back at her. After a long pause, Ye Lan snorted. "
Then let's call Xiao Song to come along. That way, it won't be a situation where a man and a woman are alone together, right?"

Yan Yu said. "No need, I'll go by myself."

Ye Lan frowned her delicate eyebrows. "I'm fully responsible for this case, and President Zhou specifically requested to
talk to me. You're preventing me from going to Shanghai just because your little girlfriend is inexplicably jealous? Yan Yu, are you
even a person who can handle big things?"

Yan Yu said, "President Zhou is negotiating with our company, not with you. If he won't talk to you if you don't go, then it
just means he's not a person who can handle big things."

Ye Lan took a sip of juice, her fingers, painted with bright red nail polish, tapping lightly on the dark brown wood-grain tabletop.
"President Yan, you're really killing the goose that lays the golden eggs."

"Ye Lan, I won't forget your contributions. As long as you're at Ruiyu, I won't mistreat you."

Ye Lan sneered. "Your little assistant is so worried about you, why doesn't she just tie you up with a rope and
take you everywhere? That would be safer."

Yan Yu said expressionlessly, "That's between the two of us, it's none of your business."

Ye Lan looked at Yan Yu, "Do you really think you and her are a good match? You don't even have this much tolerance. This kind of
girl is not presentable."

Yan Yu didn't answer at all.

Ye Lan bit her lip, "Did she say something about me? You believe whatever she says? Yan Yu, let me tell
you, there is no girl in this world who is as simple as she seems on the surface. I've been with you for two years, and I'm
willing to do anything for you. How long have you been together? What has she done for you?" Ye Lan's eyes reddened,
and she lowered her head, her shoulders trembling slightly.

Looking at Ye Lan like this, Yan Yu felt a pang of guilt, but he ultimately turned his gaze to
the large electronic clock in the center of the bay square outside the window. It was already 12:30. Yan Yu said, "Ye Lan, I
know I've wronged you. The thought that I might have ruined your life makes me... I want to help
you in any way I can. I really hope you can have a good life in the future. But that matter was both right and wrong, and our lives must go on."
"Go, maybe you'll blame me for being too heartless and cold-blooded, but our fate has come to an end."

Yan Yu returned home a little after 1 p.m. The house was quiet when he opened the door. He called out to Xiaoyu, but
no one answered. He went upstairs and found the girl still lying in bed, even in the same position as
when .

Yan Yu chuckled, "Why are you still lying down?"

Cheng Xiaoyu lazily hummed in response.

Yan Yu sat on the edge of the bed and pinched her cheek. "Have you eaten?"

"No." "Are you hungry?" "Yes." "

If you're hungry, why don't you get up and eat?" "I'm exhausted, I don't want to get up." Cheng Xiaoyu finished speaking and rolled around in the bed with the blanket. Yan Yu was both amused and exasperated. "Little darling, I'm really impressed with you. What do you want to eat?" Cheng Xiaoyu lay on the bed for a while, thinking. "I want soy sauce fried rice, with lots of soy sauce, corn kernels, and diced ham." "Okay, I'll go downstairs and make it for you." Yan Yu went downstairs. Cheng Xiaoyu could vaguely hear the sound of hot oil sizzling in the pan and the spatula stirring in the wok in the bedroom. The bright sunlight shone warmly through the gaps in the curtains, gently caressing her face. But Cheng Xiaoyu felt an indescribable sadness in her heart. Youth is beautiful, but it may pass in an instant. The oily and fragrant soy sauce fried rice was soon served. Cheng Xiaoyu sat up in bed, picked up the bowl, and began to eat. Yan Yu tucked a strand of hair that had fallen on her forehead behind her ear. "Did you wash your face?" "No." "Did you brush your teeth?" "No." Yan Yu poked her forehead and said, "Cheng Xiaoyu, you're such a pig." Cheng Xiaoyu didn't care that she was called a pig and continued to eat with relish. Yan Yu said, "I'm leaving later, but you can't skip dinner again tonight." Cheng Xiaoyu put down her spoon. "Where are you going?" "To Shanghai. There's an agreement to sign tomorrow, you know?" Cheng Xiaoyu thought for a moment and realized there was such a thing. She was so shocked yesterday that she forgot everything. Cheng Xiaoyu pouted and put the bowl on the bedside table. "Don't go." Yan Yu sighed. "What's wrong with you now? I'm going by myself, don't overthink it." Cheng Xiaoyu hugged Yan Yu's neck and said, "You can't go, you stay home with me." Yan Yu laughed. "Stop rubbing against me, you're getting oil all over my neck. Why are you so clingy today? I can't not go, I'm not going on vacation, can I not sign the contract?" Cheng Xiaoyu pouted and sat on the bed. "Then I want to go too." Yan Yu said, "The flight is at four o'clock, you won't have time to buy a ticket." "Then I'll take the next one." "Stop fooling around," Yan Yu ruffled Cheng Xiaoyu's hair. "The next flight might not be until 11 or 12 at night . If things go smoothly tomorrow, I'll head back this afternoon. Be good, I'll bring you a gift." Cheng Xiaoyu pushed Yan Yu's hand away, turned around, and hugged her knees, saying, "You don't need to coax me like a child." Yan Yu was going to leave eventually. He put the documents in his bag and said, "Little ostrich, I'm leaving." Cheng Xiaoyu only turned her back to him in silence. Yan Yu knelt on the bed and hugged Cheng Xiaoyu from behind. "Baby, stop fooling around. After I'm done with this period, let's go to Europe for two weeks in September. I guarantee you'll love it. Little ostrich, smile at me, okay?" Cheng Xiaoyu didn't smile, her eyes downcast, looking like a sulking child. Yan Yu could only kiss her cheek , say goodbye, and leave with his bag. The living room door slammed shut with a bang, and Cheng Xiaoyu couldn't help but shudder. Yan Yu was gone, and the house suddenly became as quiet as a tomb, so empty and large that even the ticking of the clock could be heard. Chapter 102 Love. After getting off the plane, Yan Yu took a taxi to the hotel he had booked. He exchanged his room card with the receptionist, took the elevator to the seventh floor, and was about to enter his room when he heard the soft sound of high heels on the carpet as someone walked unhurriedly towards him. Yan Yu turned around and saw Ye Lan, elegantly walking towards him in a royal blue silk ruffled blouse and a beautifully tailored black pencil skirt. Yan Yu frowned. "Why are you here?" Ye Lan stopped beside Yan Yu. "I felt I needed to be there for this contract signing, so I came." Yan Yu turned to look at Ye Lan. "You clearly know everything, so why do this?" Ye Lan smiled indifferently. "What's wrong with this? Does this annoy you? Are you bothered by everything your little assistant might find out? Yan Yu, I don't think I need to be secretive about anything. You're not married." Ye Lan sighed. "But I still..." " I'm willing to compromise like this simply because I think you deserve it." Yan Yu was about to speak when Ye Lan continued, "You don't need to be in such a hurry to embarrass me standing in the corridor, do you? Let's go inside and talk." Yan Yu pondered for a moment and said, "No need to go inside. Actually, I don't have much to say. I've already said everything I wanted to say at noon . I'll negotiate and sign this agreement myself. You can go back to Rongcheng." As Yan Yu said this, he felt a flash on the glass door at the end of the corridor leading to the restaurant. He turned his head to look but saw nothing. Ye Lan said, "The next flight back to Rongcheng is at 9:30 PM. If I take that flight, I probably won't get home until midnight. Are you really telling me to come and go the same way? Having me help you negotiate will definitely be more advantageous . Even if we only gain one percentage point, you know how much profit that represents. I worked so hard to secure that deal, so of course I hope it ends in a perfect victory. Yan Yu, we've known each other for a while now. Have you ever thought about how upset I am by being so wary of me?" Yan Yu looked at her and said, "Ye Lan, you're too smart, so smart that it makes people uneasy. If you think it 's too late today, then go back tomorrow." Yan Yu closed the door in front of Ye Lan. Ye Lan didn't seem too embarrassed by the rejection, but her eyes turned cold . She stood at Yan Yu's door for a few seconds, then took out her room card and turned to go into the room next door. Ye Lan stood by the hotel window, watching the endless stream of cars below for a full ten minutes, before picking up her phone and making a call. "Send those two photos over." Ye Lan knew that setting such a trap had significant side effects; Yan Yu would definitely blame her later. But things had already come to this point, and another boost might make that little brat back down and leave on her own. Even if Yan Yu resented her, she could simply say she knew nothing and that it was Cheng Xiaoyu who hired Detective Gu to investigate, and that would be the end of it.

What difference did it make whether Yu Xin believed her or not? He was getting colder and colder towards her anyway, so even if she behaved herself, she
wouldn't get anything out of it.

At Yan Yu's white square dining table, Cheng Xiaoyu and her pink ostrich doll sat on opposite sides. Cheng Xiaoyu
brought over several bottles of foreign liquor from the upper cabinet in the kitchen. She didn't know how much or how strong the liquor was, but it didn't matter,
as long as it was liquor.

Cheng Xiaoyu filled her own glass, then filled the little ostrich's glass as well. She picked up her glass and clinked
it against . "Little ostrich, I'm feeling sad. Others might not understand, but you do, right?"

The little ostrich just stared blankly at her.

Cheng Xiaoyu tilted her head back and drank the liquor in one gulp. It was very strong, and Cheng Xiaoyu's eyes welled up. She sniffed
and then took the little ostrich's glass and drank it in one go.

As dusk settled, Cheng Xiaoyu, having eaten nothing, opened the five or six bottles of foreign liquor one by one, pouring
a glass and taking a sip from each. Looking at the little ostrich sitting in the shadows, gradually becoming blurry, she swirled her glass and said
, "If this continues, Yan Yu will find out sooner or later. If he finds out…" Cheng Xiaoyu smiled slightly, "
It's better to break up. Anyway, he and that Ye Lan are still unclear about their relationship. I might as well break up with him, little ostrich,
don't you think?"

The little ostrich neither agreed nor disagreed. Cheng Xiaoyu's phone rang. She opened it and saw
a multimedia message from an unknown number containing two photos. She clicked to extract them, and her AI assistant
processed the images for two seconds before displaying the entire photo frame by frame. In the photo, Yan Yu was eating with his head down, and Ye
Lan was wiping his cheek with a napkin. The photo was taken from a distance, making it difficult to see their expressions, but she could see
the large electronic clock on the bay square outside the window, clearly showing the date as August 17th,
12:08 PM. Cheng Xiaoyu remembered Yan Yu telling her that morning he would be back after lunch, and her fingertips grew
a little cold. She closed the picture and looked at the next one. The next photo showed Yan Yu and Ye Lan talking in
a room, and the other half was a newspaper front page. The photo appeared to be taken in a
hotel corridor. In the photo, Yan Yu was holding the doorknob, about to open the door, while turning back to talk to Ye Lan.
Cheng Xiaoyu zoomed in on the photo; the resolution was quite high, and she could clearly see the
date on the Shanghai Daily newspaper: August 17th, today. Even without the newspaper, Cheng Xiaoyu knew it was taken today;
the clothes Yan Yu was wearing and the briefcase he was carrying were the same ones he had worn and taken when he left that afternoon.

Cheng Xiaoyu put her phone down, rested her head on her arm, and the little ostrich opposite her still looked at her with its signature terrified
expression . Poor girl, she's so young, and fate has been testing her far too much.

Yan Yu ordered takeout for dinner and, after finishing, turned on his desk lamp to look at the documents Ye Lan had given him. But
for some reason, he felt uneasy today, his mind wandering as he looked at the documents. One moment he was thinking about
what to do if Ye Lan continued like this, the next he was wondering about Cheng Xiaoyu's brother—something seemed suspicious… Suddenly,
his phone rang. Yan Yu answered, and the caller identified herself as the secretary to General Manager Zhou of Minghuan Company. She explained that General Manager Zhou's mother
had passed away that afternoon, and tomorrow's negotiation meeting had to be temporarily cancelled. The secretary apologized to Yan Yu,
saying that their company would pay for his and his entourage's round-trip airfare, and that General Manager Zhou would contact him again after his mother's
funeral . Since that was the case, Yan Yu could only offer his condolences and hang up.

After hanging up, Yan Yu checked the time. Ye Lan had said his flight back to Rongcheng from Shanghai was at 9:30 PM
. If he rushed to the airport now, he might still make it, but he would get home quite late. Thinking of Cheng Xiaoyu's absent-minded state before
he decided to go home tonight. He put the documents back in his bag
, went downstairs to check out of the hotel, and luckily there were still tickets available for his flight. Only after buying a ticket and boarding the plane did Yan Yu remember his
promise to bring Cheng Xiaoyu a gift from Shanghai. "Oh well," Yan Yu thought, looking at the twinkling lights outside the window, "
coming back is a surprise, I guess.

" The more she drank, the more intoxicated she became. Cheng Xiaoyu was already quite drunk, clutching the bottle, whimpering and crying at the same time
, not even knowing what she was saying. Heaven knows how much she missed Chu Chen, heaven knows how much
effort burying him deep in her heart, but why did he selfishly come out again? What was she to do?
After drinking to the extreme of sorrow, Cheng Xiaoyu's mood gradually lightened, replaced by a light, floating happiness
. It seems Yan Yu has most likely rekindled his affair with that vixen Ye Lan. Damn it, all that thought he
was so , and the guilt she felt from time to time, was ridiculous. He's nothing compared to Chu Chen.

Last night in the hotel lobby, she asked Chu Chen how he found her. Chu Chen said, "After you left,
I played 'Darkness Please Close Your Eyes' online every day. You've been gone for over a year, and I've been playing this game for over a year. Every game,
I'd listen to everyone's conversation and then just leave. I was almost desperate, wondering if you'd stopped playing
, even if you were dead. But then, on your birthday night, I still ran into you
. Xiaoyu, don't you think this is fate that we were meant to be together?" Chu Chen knew Cheng Xiaoyu loved playing games online
, and a person's habits don't change easily. Even if she could ban all her previous accounts,
"Darkness Please Close Your Eyes" is a game where you can hear voices. Chu Chen understood how low the probability of finding someone in a game was
, but what other way did he have?

Cheng Xiaoyu was still somewhat skeptical. "Even if you met me in the game, how did you find Rongcheng?"

Chu Chen smiled. "Xiaoyu, have you forgotten what I do?
How hard could it be to find the city where an IP address is located? But even knowing you were in Rongcheng, it still took me a month to find your name on
Ruiyu's personnel list. I came to the banquet tonight to see what kind of
person this Yan Yu really is." Chu Chen unconsciously gritted his teeth as he said this.

Cheng Xiaoyu lowered her head and said, "Since you already know, why did you still show up? I'm doing very well now,
you can leave."

Chu Chen looked at her. "Even a blind person can see that there's something going on between Yan Yu and that woman. Are you really doing well?"

Cheng Xiaoyu's voice was slightly agitated. She said, "My affairs are none of your business. Yan Yu treats me
very well , a hundred times better than you treat me."

Chu Chen's eyes darkened, and he lowered his eyes, saying, "Xiaoyu, you know perfectly well that no one in this world can treat you
a hundred times better than me, why do you have to say things like that to make me feel bad?"

Chu Chen's eyelashes were very long, fluttering like a butterfly's wings. Cheng Xiaoyu had once
applied mascara to him while he slept; after he woke up and washed his face, his eye sockets were as dark as a panda's.
Cheng Xiaoyu leaned against the bathroom door, clutching her stomach and laughing. Chu Chen then pulled her close and showered her with kisses, leaving her face
covered in smudges.

Now, Cheng Xiaoyu was only slightly sober. Chu Chen's eyes, more beautiful than a girl's, gradually
appeared before her. Cheng Xiaoyu felt a pang of pain, as if someone had twisted her heart. She sniffed, leaned
on the table, and looked at the slightly swirling, bright yellow liquid in her glass, saying, "Chu Chen, just take me away,
as long as my mother doesn't know."

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Cheng Xiaoyu lifted her heavy head from the table and asked,
"Who is it?"

"It's me."

Cheng Xiaoyu didn't speak further; even in her drunkenness, she could recognize Chu Chen's voice.

Chu Chen knocked twice more. "Cheng Xiaoyu, open the door."

Cheng Xiaoyu stood up. "How did you know my house was here?"

"This is Yan Yu's house, not yours."

Cheng Xiaoyu coldly grabbed a bottle of liquor from the table and smashed it against the door. The black door was left with a noticeable
mark, and the liquor splashed onto the wall, forming several dark stains.

Chu Chen calmly knocked twice more. "Cheng Xiaoyu, open the door."

Cheng Xiaoyu smashed another bottle of liquor heavily against the door.

Chu Chen's voice carried clearly through the front door into the house, "Xiaoyu, now that I've found you,
where can you hide if you don't open the door? Ha, do you know how I've
been living ? Girl, you're much more ruthless than I imagined. Didn't you think of
me when you slept with him?"

Cheng Xiaoyu gripped the edge of the dining table, barely managing to stay upright. Tears streamed down her face, falling
onto the back of her hands. Cheng Xiaoyu was in turmoil, yet she didn't even have the strength to take a few more steps. She didn't know what Chu Chen
wanted to do, and she didn't know what she wanted to do either.

When Yan Yu unlocked the door, the clock in the living room chimed. Yan Yu looked up and saw it was exactly
midnight . All the other lights in the living room were off, except for a floor lamp next to the dining table.
Several wine bottles and two glasses were scattered on the table. An ostrich plush toy sat crookedly on a dining chair. Yan
Yu took a step forward and felt something under his feet. He looked down and saw several shards of glass from wine bottles scattered
on the doormat. Suddenly, a woman's muffled moan came from upstairs. The sound wasn't loud, but
it was exceptionally clear in the quiet night. And that sound… Yan Yu had heard it too many times.

Yan Yu felt as if something had suddenly seized his heart. He looked around
the living room . This was his home, yet it felt strangely unfamiliar, a feeling as eerily as if he were in a dream. Yan Yu
took a few stiff steps forward, then held onto the stair railing and began to climb the stairs. Several pieces
of clothing , some men's, some women's. He didn't recognize the men's clothes, but he knew the women's clothes all too well. Yan Yu heard
his own breathing heavy, as if in slow motion, and faintly heard a woman's intermittent moans and soft
patting sounds, as if they came from afar across mountains and rivers, sounding extremely distant to his ears. Finally, Yan Yu reached
the upstairs. The bedroom door was ajar, and a naked man and woman were entwined on the bed. The bedroom curtains
were not drawn, and the bright moonlight cast a silvery-gray glow on their bodies.
The man, who was above the woman, was tall and slender with fair skin and firm muscles. Every thrust of his hips was deep and powerful.
The woman beneath him was moaning softly, her body delicate and fair. Yan Yu
knew . Her legs were weakly kicking at the sides of the man's body, her ten white toes curling up in discomfort.
Her head was half-leaning against the headboard in an uncomfortable position, and one hand was on the man's shoulder, whether
in resistance or submission, it was hard to tell. Her face was flushed with a beautiful and lovely blush, and her eyes
were . Her face looked just like his little ostrich, but how could this be her?

Yan Yu's gaze slowly moved down that face. The man had rammed into her quickly and heavily.
The little fish pendant around the girl's neck darted like silver fish between her trembling breasts. The man roared, his lean
buttocks again. The girl screamed and clung to the man's shoulders. In the instant she gracefully arched her neck
, she saw Yan Yu standing in the doorway, his face contorted like a man-eating demon. The delicate fish pendant tossed high on
Cheng Xiaoyu's chest. The bright moonlight shone on the diamond-encrusted fish eyes
, flashing an eerie light that almost stung Yan Yu's eyes.

Chapter 103 The Truth of the Story

The following story was rather cliché. Cheng Xiaoyu was terrified when she saw Yan Yu standing in the doorway, breaking out in a cold sweat and sobering up
considerably. The next second, Zhong Yanyu and Chu Chen were wrestling. Chu Chen wasn't even dressed, but Cheng Xiaoyu,
watching from the side, didn't find it funny at all. The two men were fighting so fiercely, as if they wanted to kill each other.

Yan Yu and Chu Chen wrestled into the hallway. Cheng Xiaoyu hurriedly put on her nightgown and grabbed
Chu Chen's clothes as she ran over, yelling, "Stop fighting... Ah!" Yan Yu elbowed Cheng Xiaoyu in the face, causing her to
fall to the floor in pain. Chu Chen was momentarily stunned, and Yan Yu punched him hard. Chu Chen staggered and
grabbed the stair railing, but Yan Yu pounced on him again. Seeing he was about to lose his balance, Chu Chen grabbed Yan Yu's waist and they
tumbled down the stairs together.

Cheng Xiaoyu screamed as she ran to the top of the stairs. They had fallen into the living room, both
rolling , still fighting fiercely. It was unclear who had tripped on the stairs, but both their faces were
covered in blood, a rather frightening sight.

Cheng Xiaoyu was terrified. She grabbed the second-floor railing, climbed over, and sat down, shouting, "If you hit me again,
I'll jump!" She was sitting three or four meters above the ground; she wouldn't die from the fall, but she'd
definitely suffer a broken bone or something.

Chu Chen immediately stopped, but Yan Yu's fists continued to rain blows on him. Cheng Xiaoyu desperately
closed her eyes and was about to jump when Chu Chen shouted, "Xiaoyu, don't jump!" Only then did Yan Yu abruptly stop.

Two men, covered in blood and disheveled, stood below watching her. Blood was still flowing from Yan Yu
's forehead, and Chu Chen's face was a frightening bruise. Cheng Xiaoyu threw Chu Chen's shirt and pants down from the building. Chu Chen vomited.
Blood and foam dripped from his mouth as he picked up his clothes and put them on. Yan Yu glared fiercely at Cheng Xiaoyu, his gaze
murderous . Cheng Xiaoyu, however, ignored him, looking only at Chu Chen and saying, "You should leave."

Chu Chen buttoned his shirt, one button at a time. "Come with me."

Cheng Xiaoyu shook her head.

Chu Chen said, "He won't let you go if you stay here."

Yan Yu said, "Cheng Xiaoyu, look at me."

Cheng Xiaoyu still refused to look at him, only looking at Chu Chen and saying, "He won't do anything to me, you should leave."

Chu Chen said, "I'm not leaving."

Yan Yu said coldly, "You can't leave even if you want to!" He grabbed a chair from the dining table and smashed it over Chu Chen's head
. The ostrich doll that had been sitting on the chair silently slid to the floor, its eyes wide open and its neck tilted, watching
the chaotic battle in the living room.

In less than a minute, the living room was a complete mess. The widescreen TV was smashed
, and the dining table, along with the bottles on it, was overturned on the floor. The two men quickly rolled around
in a scuffle, while Cheng Xiaoyu jumped up and down anxiously. Chu Chen said, "Cheng Xiaoyu, stay away. This is a man's business. If he doesn't come after me,
I'll come after him sooner or later."

Yan Yu spat, "I'll stab this bastard to death today!" He seemed to be
inspired by the word "stab," and he jumped up and went into the kitchen to grab a cleaver.

Cheng Xiaoyu's face turned pale with fright. She stumbled down the stairs and tried to grab the knife from Yan Yu's hand. Chu Chen
said urgently, "Xiaoyu, don't grab it, you'll get hurt." Cheng Xiaoyu wouldn't listen. Seeing the gleaming cleaver
waving between Cheng Xiaoyu and Yan Yu, Chu Chen had no choice but to grab it as well. Firstly, Cheng Xiaoyu was no match for the two
men's strength; secondly, she would rather hurt herself than hurt either of them. Therefore, even as
the blade approached her chest, Cheng Xiaoyu recklessly pulled it towards herself. Yan Yu and Chu Chen, seeing this,
both pulled her to the sides, but the blade still grazed Cheng Xiaoyu's shoulder! It fell to the ground with a thud.

Blood instantly bloomed into a seductive flower on her pale yellow nightgown. Cheng Xiaoyu, clutching her shoulder,
looked at Chu Chen with tearful eyes, "Go, I'm begging you. Things have come to this, do you really want me to die in
front of you?"

Cheng Xiaoyu had never truly considered running away with Chu Chen. Even if she harbored such a small, secret
wish, she knew it was impossible. Even if they could deceive the whole world, she couldn't deceive
her own heart. She had made a vow, every word etched into her heart. Moreover, she knew that if she really
left with Chu Chen like this, Yan Yu would go crazy, so no matter what, she couldn't leave. After all,

Chu Chen deeply loved Cheng Xiaoyu, and how could he not be heartbroken to see her like this? The two stared at each other in silence for a few seconds,
and finally Chu Chen closed his eyes, turned around, and left.

Yan Yu sneered and shoved Cheng Xiaoyu, who was standing between him and Chu Chen, aside
. "You think you can just leave after you've had your way with my woman? Do you think I'm dead? Let me tell you, one of us will have to leave here dead today."

Chu Chen turned back. "And let me tell you, Cheng Xiaoyu has always been my woman, not yours."

The hatred in Yan Yu's eyes made his face look sinister and terrifying. He said, word by word, "Fine, let's have
a proper discussion about whose woman she really is."

"Enough!" Cheng Xiaoyu picked up a kitchen knife from the ground and held it to her neck, looking at Yan Yu. "If you move again,
I'll slit my throat right here and now, out of sight, out of mind."

Cheng Xiaoyu's face was pale, but her eyes shone as if they were burning with flames. Her pajamas were soaked with
blood and clung to her thin shoulders. Her neck was so slender that the gleaming kitchen knife looked particularly terrifying
against it . Her hand trembled, and the bright blade had already
left a thin red mark on her beautiful, white neck. Yan Yu was filled with hatred, yet he couldn't utter a single sound. Chu Chen knew
he couldn't stay any longer, so he gritted his teeth, strode to the door, slammed it shut, and left.

The room fell into an eerie silence. Yan Yu and Cheng Xiaoyu stood face to face in the nearly ruined living room
. Cheng Xiaoyu threw down the kitchen knife with a clatter and smiled at Yan Yu.

Yan Yu slapped Cheng Xiaoyu hard, knocking her onto the sofa. "You slut!"

Cheng Xiaoyu sat up, covering her face, a smile that Yan Yu found almost shameless.
She said, "Didn't you always call me a little slut? Why are you acting like you just found out today?"

Yan Yu grabbed Cheng Xiaoyu by the collar of her pajamas and pulled her up, gritting his teeth. "You even lied to me, saying he was your
brother, Cheng Xiaoyu! I've been wary of everyone else in the world, but not you!"

"I didn't lie to you," Cheng Xiaoyu said. "He's my brother. We've done a DNA test, it's real."

Cheng Xiaoyu's eyes were bright and crazed. Yan Yu, as if burned, abruptly released his grip on her
collar . Cheng Xiaoyu sat back down on the only intact sofa in the living room and sighed softly. She had really
said it, and it wasn't all that bad. The sky hadn't fallen, and she felt much lighter. Cheng Xiaoyu wanted to laugh, so
she sat on the sofa and smiled.

Yan Yu looked at her and said, "You slept with your own brother?"

Cheng Xiaoyu nodded.

"That's fucking disgusting!"

Cheng Xiaoyu looked up at Yan Yu, "How disgusting? Isn't your brother a man? Homosexuality is allowed,
why can't it be with your own brother?" She had never experienced such a liberating feeling of giving up, it was so exhilarating.

Yan Yu also slumped onto the sofa. Both of them were bleeding, exhausted and confused, sitting in opposite
corners of the dimly lit sofa. After a while, Yan Yu spoke again, "You met yesterday, and today you brought him to
our bed. Don't you feel disgusted?"

Cheng Xiaoyu's heart was already pierced by Yan Yu's words, but she deliberately smiled indifferently, "Disgusted?
Heh, I suppose Ye Lan wouldn't disgust you, so why don't you just be with her?"

Yan Yu stared at her intently, "Cheng Xiaoyu, am I blind or..." Yan Yu's
tone was... "Something twisted in her eyes. 'Or were you just playing me all along?'"

Cheng Xiaoyu was speechless, and after a long while, she shifted her gaze elsewhere. "Do you remember what I told you
when ? I said I would never like you, and that you would regret it sooner or later. Now that I think about it
, we should have just had a one-night stand and parted ways amicably, which would have been much better than this."

Yan Yu remembered that Cheng Xiaoyu had said something like that. Back then, he deliberately chased after her to pay back the money and used various excuses to invite her to dinner.
Cheng Xiaoyu said that even if you invited her to a thousand meals, she still wouldn't like him. At that time, she stood in his office, her eyes dark...
In the dim light of dusk, her eyes seemed to hold an indescribable darkness. She looked at him and said, "Yan
Yu, one day you'll regret this." But Yan Yu didn't listen to a word she said.
Who did he think he was? A task too easy was pointless. Now, the ever-proud Yan Yu finally
felt the pain. He had fallen hard, filled with resentment and humiliation, unable to even stand. Yan Yu glared fiercely at
Cheng Xiaoyu, wishing he could rip her heart out. That innocent and adorable smile—it was all a lie
, a complete sham!

Cheng Xiaoyu avoided Yan Yu's eyes. She could face his anger, but not his sadness
and disappointment. She leaned back against the soft sofa cushions and said, "This breakup is
a bit awkward, but there's no other way. I... I'm leaving tomorrow. Honestly, Ye Lan is probably more suitable for you."

Yan Yu sneered, "Where are you going? To continue your incestuous relationship with your good brother?"

Cheng Xiaoyu lowered her eyes. "Don't worry, I won't be with him."

Yan Yu scoffed, "If I believed you again, I'd be a fucking idiot! This time I've been caught off guard,
but it's okay , I accept it." "Alright, but you don't think I'm just going to let this go, do you? Cheng Xiaoyu, I guarantee you two scoundrels
won't have a good life from now on."

Cheng Xiaoyu curled her lips indifferently. "Why bother? Don't you already have Ye Lan? Ye Lan got pregnant for you
and had an abortion. After so many years, you should cherish each other when you meet again. Why don't you be more generous and not hold it against me?"

Yan Yu said angrily, "Do you have any shame? You're having an affair with another man, and you still say things like
this ?"

Cheng Xiaoyu sighed, "Since things have come to this, why are you still hiding it from me? You went to Shanghai today, were
you alone?"

"What do you mean?"

Cheng Xiaoyu looked down and searched the floor, quickly finding Xiao
Ai, which Yan Yu had just flipped from the dining table. Xiao Ai was sturdy enough that it was unharmed after the fall. Cheng Xiaoyu unlocked the phone, pulled out the two
photos, and handed them to Yan Yu. "I don't know who sent them to me, it should be Ye Lan. Actually, our actions are
similar , except Ye Lan isn't your sister."

Yan Yu slammed Cheng Xiaoyu's phone against the wall, and Xiao Ai immediately shattered into pieces. Yan Yu stood
up, pointed at Cheng Xiaoyu's nose, and cursed, "You fucking slept with that scum just because of these two photos!
What's wrong with me having dinner with Ye Lan? What's wrong with me standing at the hotel room door with Ye Lan? Does that mean I slept with her?!
Your fingers aren't broken, why didn't you call me? Cheng Xiaoyu, let me tell you,
if I've ever had an affair with any woman since we got together, I wish you and your brother a happy and fulfilling marriage!"

Cheng Xiaoyu refused to look at Yan Yu, turning her head to the side and saying, "What does it matter if you slept with Ye Lan or not?
You're old lovers anyway, you have plenty of flirtatious tricks to play. Besides, my affair with Chu Chen has nothing to do with these two photos. I
miss him, and I'm willing to sleep with him." As soon as Cheng Xiaoyu finished speaking, she received another heavy slap on her right cheek from Yan Yu.

Cheng Xiaoyu felt a metallic, sweet taste in her mouth. She spat, tossed her hair, and turned her face back. She had been slapped
on both cheeks; she must look quite a sight.

Yan Yu stood before her, a menacing figure like a demon from hell. He gripped Cheng Xiaoyu's chin,
lifted her head, and slowly said, "Cheng Xiaoyu, I swear one day you will regret what happened today."

Cheng Xiaoyu smiled again. Her cheeks were swollen and her hair disheveled, but her smile was as venomous and sweet as a poppy. She
said, "After today, I won't have to regret anything anymore."

Yan Yu released Cheng Xiaoyu's chin and turned to leave. He was filled with hatred and rage. If he didn't leave, he might really strangle Cheng Xiaoyu to death! He had to find Ye Lan now. He had to find out exactly
what that woman had done behind his back . As Yan Yu reached the door, he heard Cheng Xiaoyu call his name. Yan Yu stopped. Cheng Xiaoyu seemed to be crying. She choked out, "Yan Yu, let's say goodbye like this. I hope you'll never think of me again, and even if you do, don't hate me." Yan Yu didn't turn around. He said, "Cheng Xiaoyu, go ahead and leave if you dare. I'll drag you back . You don't believe me? Just try!" Yan Yu slammed the door shut. The sound was so loud, he wondered if it disturbed the neighbors. Cheng Xiaoyu stood at the window and quickly watched Yan Yu's blue Audi drive away like a gust of wind. Her fingers rested on the window , and she softly said, "Yan Yu, goodbye." Chapter 104 The Final Choice. Yan Yu called Ye Lan while driving, but her phone was off. Only then did Yan Yu realize it was already past 1 a.m. He drove directly to Ye Lan's house. Whether she admitted it or not, he would make her get out of Ruiyu. Call it taking it out on her, call it petty, but if she hadn't been fanning the flames , things might not have gotten this far. Of course, the most hateful person was Cheng Xiaoyu; Yan Yu felt he could tear her apart and devour her alive. Ye Lan's house was dark. Yan Yu rang the doorbell for a long time, but no one answered. He then remembered that Ye Lan was probably still in Shanghai and hadn't returned. Yan Yu was so angry today that he had even forgotten this. His anger suddenly had no target, and he dejectedly went downstairs and got back into his car. He should have gone to find Chu Chen; he should have at least broken one of legs and a few ribs before letting him go. But so far, besides knowing his name was Chu Chen, he knew nothing about him and didn't know where to look for him. All successful revenge should be a gradual process, but tonight, in the darkest hour of the night, Yan Yu's anger and shattered pride had nowhere to go, only to be swallowed alone. Yan Yu slammed his head on the steering wheel. He had never loved a woman like this in his life, and this woman had betrayed him in the most humiliating way. Cheng Xiaoyu picked up the shattered pieces of Xiao Ai from the floor and tried to piece them back together, but failed; Xiao Ai was completely dead. Cheng Xiaoyu left Xiao Ai on the sofa, picked up the little ostrich from the floor, and went upstairs. The bedroom still had a lingering, smoky smell, the peculiar scent of post-coital sex. Cheng Xiaoyu put the little ostrich back in its usual spot on the bedside table, patted its tuft of orange feathers on its head, and said, "Little ostrich, I'm sorry you had to see that." Cheng Xiaoyu turned on the bathroom light, bent down to wash her face in front of the sink, then looked up at herself in the mirror. She still looked terrible; her expression was haggard, and her cheeks were swollen and red. Yan Yu had really hit her hard; you could even see the five-finger mark. Cheng Xiaoyu used...

She combed her hair gently, trying to comfort herself by thinking that although her face was ugly, her hair was still pretty.
Cheng Xiaoyu went back to the bedroom, took off her blood-stained nightgown in front of the full-length mirror, and stared at the
girl . It was very white and clean, with perky nipples and tightly closed legs. But who knew
what kind of greedy and weak soul lived in this body? Cheng Xiaoyu wiped the wound on her shoulder with a damp towel, then opened
the bedside table and carefully placed three Winnie the Pooh Band-Aids on the wound. She made sure to apply them properly so as not to
soil her clothes later.

Cheng Xiaoyu opened the wardrobe and started picking out clothes. She tried on this one and that one,
and spent almost half an hour picking them out. Cheng Xiaoyu felt bitter and amused at the same time. It wasn't like she was going on a trip; did she have to be
so ? Girls always love to look beautiful. Even though she was so dirty, she still hoped to walk out looking
pretty. Cheng Xiaoyu finally chose the light pink silk dress, the evening gown Yan Yu had given her for her birthday
. It was so beautiful, but unfortunately, it wasn't suitable for everyday wear, only for important occasions like banquets.
However, today was an important day for her. Cheng Xiaoyu put on the beautiful dress, then looked in the mirror and
brushed aside to frame her face. This way, the band-aid on her shoulder and the fingerprints on her face wouldn't be visible.

Cheng Xiaoyu gave herself a reassuring smile in the mirror, then walked to the window, opened it
, and looked out. Below the window was a small flower bed. Cheng Xiaoyu frowned, imagining herself lying face down on the edge of the flower bed
. Would her face be contorted and her brains splattered? That would be disgusting. But if she didn't jump headfirst, she might
not die; being paralyzed would be a real problem.

Cheng Xiaoyu shook her head, rejecting that method of death. After hesitating for a while, she filled the bathtub with
warm water , then went downstairs to find a small, handy fruit knife and brought it back up. "That's it," she thought. Although she disliked blood and
was afraid of pain, she really didn't want to fall downstairs and be watched by onlookers.

Cheng Xiaoyu looked at her left wrist, then at her right, and finally decided to choose her left wrist because her right hand
was stronger. Cheng Xiaoyu gripped the fruit knife tightly with her right hand, took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and
slashed hard at her left wrist. It hurt a lot. She opened her eyes and looked at the bright red wound on her wrist. It was bleeding, but not deep.
She had clearly used a lot of force, so why was the cut so shallow? This wouldn't do; she needed to sever the artery to die.
Cheng Xiaoyu took another deep breath, counting one, two, three in her mind as she continued cutting deeper into the wound. But the pain was unbearable;
fear, trembling, spasms, the still-flowing blood, and the cold touch of the knife tip made
her kneel on the ground, hardening her heart to continue cutting. Large tears blurred her vision. She heard her
mouth opening and closing unconsciously, unable to understand what she was saying. She realized she was calling for her mother, "Mommy, it
hurts so much ." Being a girl, she was timid and not ruthless enough. Cheng Xiaoyu hardened her heart and cut for over ten minutes
before a deep gash was finally made on her wrist. Covered in sweat and tears, Cheng Xiaoyu stared at the
wound, which resembled a terrifying, blood-red maw, wondering if she would sever her hand if she continued. The fruit knife, stained with
warm blood, clattered to the floor. The ostrich plush toy sitting on the edge of the bed looked at
Cheng Xiaoyu kneeling in terror. It was truly a terrifying night.

Cheng Xiaoyu looked at the knife on the ground, then at the gash on her wrist. So be it. Even if it wasn't deep enough to
slow her death, there was nothing she could do. She couldn't cut herself any further; if she did, she'd rather jump out the window right now.
Cheng Xiaoyu stood up, clutching her wrist, went into the bathroom, closed the door, then went into the shower and closed the door again. She
didn't know why she closed the door; perhaps death really was something shameful.

Cheng Xiaoyu took off her slippers and stepped into the bathtub, slowly lying down. The pain from the water on her cracked wrist brought tears
streaming down her face again. Cheng Xiaoyu took a deep breath and rested her head on the platform next to the bathtub wall,
lying quietly. The intertwined Pisces pendant shimmered in the clear, warm water. Gradually, the water changed from clear and
transparent to a pale pink, a pink like the morning glow, layer upon layer of crimson. The radiance of the two little fish
was gradually submerged by the red water, and her soft pink dress slowly turned a cursed red.

Cheng Xiaoyu took deep breaths, trying to ignore the pain in her wrist and the intense fear in her heart. Slowly, she
finally calmed down and accepted the fact that she was about to die. Her face pale, she stared at the
white circular chandelier hanging from the bathroom ceiling. She saw colorful halos spreading out from around the light, beautiful like
a rainbow. In that halo, Cheng Xiaoyu vaguely saw herself kneeling before her mother's hospital bed, her eyes swollen from crying
, staring blankly at her mother with an oxygen mask on. Was her mother dying? What did death
feel like? She only had one mother in this world; once she was gone, she would be gone forever. Cheng Xiaoyu grasped her mother's hand and said,
"Mom, don't be like this. I swear to you, I'll never be with Chu Chen again. I really swear to you,
if I'm with him again, may the three of us die a horrible death,
may I live in hell for this life and the next, I swear, Mom." Her mother finally let out a long, relieved
sigh . She opened her mouth to speak, but tears streamed down her wrinkled face. "Mom, I broke
my promise. I'm a person who doesn't keep their word. Now I understand what it feels like to face death.
Actually the hardest part is struggling against the will to live. When you're really about to die, you're not so afraid anymore,
just so cold, as cold as lying in a frozen river." Cheng Xiaoyu was quite
satisfied ; she only soiled a pool of water, which could be washed away easily. She imagined Yan Yu discovering her body, imagining him
being questioned by the police. Oh no, she still had his fingerprints on her face! Would the police think Yan Yu
had hit her, causing her suicide? She had caused Yan Yu trouble. She should have left a suicide note, but she no longer had the strength to get up and
write one. So be it. Anyway, this wasn't the only trouble she had caused Yan Yu. What would Chu Chen do?
He would be filled with remorse and grief, and would be sad for the rest of his life. But heaven knows that she didn't want him to
feel sad. Even if they had made a mistake, her death could atone for it, right? Death was like a long,
slow dream. Cheng Xiaoyu's consciousness gradually blurred; it was the kind of exhaustion one feels when you're very tired and want to sleep. However, she
could still clearly feel her life slowly draining from her wrist. Yan Yu had called her dirty and disgusting;
now that her dirty blood had all flowed out, she wasn't disgusting anymore, was she?

Sitting in the car, Yan Yu suddenly felt a sharp panic, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it would burst from his chest.
He jumped out of his skin! He started the car aimlessly and drove on the road, still feeling incredibly uneasy. That sense of panic
was somewhat like the feeling he had when he was a child, after breaking a very valuable vase and waiting for his father to come home from work. It was almost three o'clock at night,
and there weren't many people on the road. Yan Yu was driving like a whirlwind, definitely speeding. Suddenly,
the back of a girl in a pink and white dress appeared in front of the car, her headlights blazing. Yan Yu slammed on the brakes, the drawn-out screech
echoing in the silent night. Yan Yu broke out in a cold sweat. There was no one in front of the car, and
the profile he had just seen, with her head slightly turned, was clearly Cheng Xiaoyu!

Yan Yu's mind was a mess. He gripped the steering wheel tighter and tighter, the car screeching and swerving sharply
, the engine accelerating back the way it came.

Yan Yu drove faster and faster, getting photographed countless times by traffic cameras along the way. He parked
in the garage and practically ran upstairs. He unlocked the door; the guest room was still a
mess . Yan Yu kicked away the shards of glass in front of him, went upstairs, and pushed open the bedroom door. Cheng Xiaoyu wasn't there; only
the ostrich plush toy lay on the bed. Yan Yu clenched his fists in anger. He had said all that, and she still dared to leave?
She wasn't afraid of him at all! Cheng Xiaoyu, if I don't make you regret what you did today, I'll change my surname!

Yan Yu grabbed the little ostrich from the bed and angrily threw it at the dressing mirror opposite him. But no matter how much hatred he felt,
the ostrich plush toy was soft, and it bounced silently to the floor after hitting the mirror. Yan Yu turned to leave,
but his feet involuntarily stopped at the door. Something about what he had just seen felt… off
.

Yan Yu turned his head in confusion. In the cold moonlight, the little ostrich lay half-submerged
in , next to which was a small, sharp knife. Yan Yu approached and realized it wasn't a stain, but a patch
of blood—a semi-congealed, dark reddish-black bloodstain, dripping and stretching in one direction until it disappeared at
the bathroom door. Yan Yu then noticed the bathroom wasn't completely dark; a faint light was on.
He went over and pushed open the bathroom door. The dried, dark red bloodstain continued down the white tiled floor into
the shower room, and the light he'd seen earlier was coming from there. Yan Yu's head began to buzz. He
walked unsteadily to the bathroom and pushed open the sliding door. Cheng Xiaoyu lay in the bathtub, eyes closed, pale-faced,
with several purplish-blue handprints on her cheeks. Her lips were as white as her face, because all the blood in her body had gone
into the bathtub—a pool of dizzyingly red blood, and Cheng Xiaoyu's body was submerged in it.

Yan Yu swayed a few times, grabbing the doorframe and collapsing to the floor in a disheveled state. His face instantly turned
the same . He practically crawled over, grabbing the edge of the bathtub and patting Cheng Xiaoyu's face. "Xiaoyu, wake up."

Cheng Xiaoyu didn't respond, or rather, her reaction was like that of a dead person. Perhaps her heart had already stopped
beating ; he had been gone for almost three hours. Yan Yu's hands trembled as he pulled Cheng Xiaoyu out of the bathtub.
He saw her left wrist limply hanging in mid-air, with a deep, gruesome wound on it. Bloody
droplets dripped from her fingertips, but nothing
was flowing out of the hideous wound anymore.

Yan Yu carried Cheng Xiaoyu downstairs. Her body was wet, cold, and heavy, heavier than
when . Yan Yu couldn't remember where he had heard the saying that a dead person's body is heavier than a living person's. He carried
Cheng Xiaoyu to the passenger seat, reversed the car, and sped out of the residential area like an arrow. Cheng Xiaoyu's head was limp and tilted
against the car window, just like when she usually dozed off in his car. But looking at her profile, Yan Yu
felt a chill run down his spine.

Yan Yu ran several red lights and finally drove to the hospital. He carried the soaking wet Cheng Xiaoyu into
the lobby , where two nurses greeted him. "What happened?"

Yan Yu said, "Wrist-cutting."

The nurses quickly called for help, and someone took Cheng Xiaoyu from Yan Yu's arms and placed her on a stretcher.
Yan Yu followed the group forward, and after a chaotic rush into a room, he heard a woman ask him,
"What is the patient's blood type?"

Yan Yu exclaimed and looked up at the female doctor wearing a mask. "I don't know." The female doctor
had eyes that looked very much like Cheng Xiaoyu's. Yan Yu thought he might be hallucinating.

The female doctor frowned and ordered, "Quickly, do the blood test." Then she shoved Yan Yu out the door. "You wait
outside ."

The world suddenly went silent. The busy doctors in white coats, rushing around with scalpels and sutures, were gone. Only
he stood alone in the empty white corridor, facing two white sliding
doors with "In Operation" indicator lights. Yan Yu took a few steps back, saw a long bench, and sat down. There was a faint commotion from the other side of the corridor, but
silence reigned inside the white sliding doors. Yan Yu slumped onto the bench like a defeated rooster, head bowed, hands
covering his face, wept silently.
