Nostalgia for the shantytowns of yesteryear

In 2004, I was interning at a university in Tianhe District, Guangzhou. Since the school didn't provide accommodation, I found a small two-story farmhouse in a shantytown near the school. My room was on the second floor.

It was summer, and Guangzhou summers are incredibly hot. Back at my accommodation at night, I would shower in the communal bathroom to cool off. Suddenly, through a small window with a perforated wall, I saw lights on in a small house across the street. Through the window, I could see a man and a woman, presumably a married couple, making love. Instantly, my blood boiled! The unintentional glimpse was even more exciting than anything else. But that's not the point; the point is what happened next.

While they were making their move, suddenly, their door rang. It was probably the other couple who shared the house returning. The door rang incessantly, and the other couple seemed very annoyed, especially the woman, who sounded clearly angry. She demanded that they wait a moment. The man put on his shorts, opened the door, and the act ended. That's my experience.

In the same small house, one night, I was awakened by a woman's moans. Listening closely, I realized it was a young couple downstairs. The woman was being pleasured by the man. It was summer, very hot and humid, and the window was open. The woman's moans were quite unrestrained; the sounds were so stimulating that even the cat couldn't sleep. That was my experience eavesdropping.

Years later, I wonder if that section of the shantytown has been demolished! [The End]
