When Love is Gone (Chapter Six)

Chapter Six:

Upon opening his eyes in the morning, Leng Lingjue immediately sensed something was wrong. Zi Mo was nowhere to be seen, and the pillow
was already cold. Had she run away? This thought reignited his previously good mood with raging anger.
He quickly threw on his clothes and got out of bed, about to order someone to chase after her, when he saw Zi Mo curled up naked in the corner.

For a moment, Leng Lingjue seemed to forget to breathe. What... what was going on? Why was Zi Mo
sleeping on the floor? Why wasn't she dressed? He didn't remember kicking her out last night. Moreover, because he
didn't like the floor to be too comfortable, there was no carpet in the room, nor any soft corners. And Zi
Mo had actually spent the whole night on this cold, hard floor. Was this still the Zi Mo he knew? Was this still the
Zi Mo who couldn't endure any hardship?

Thinking back to three years ago, Zi Mo always loved to linger in bed, wanting
the best and most comfortable blankets, pillows, and quilts. Is this Zi Mo, who can now fall asleep on the floor, really the same lover who used to be so
affectionate , prone to little tantrums, and adored his doting ways?

"Get up." Leng Lingjue originally wanted to kick her awake, but after raising his foot, he slowly lowered it and instead
shook Zi Mo awake with his hand. "Why are you sleeping here? And why aren't you dressed?"

Zi Mo scrambled up in a panic. "Master, are we not allowed to sleep here? Well, then I'll remember from now on.
Didn't you say I'm not worthy of wearing clothes? Does that mean I can't wear them at night, but I have to wear them during the day? Well,
next time I'll be careful, please don't punish me, Master."

"What's going on? Why does this feel so strange?" Leng Lingjue thought to himself. "Alright, you can
go back ." He quickly walked out of the bedroom. "Someone, have the steward call the person in charge of the slave quarters."

A shrewd-looking old man hurriedly came in. "Master, what are your orders? I
will go through fire and water for you, bring the knife..."

"Enough! What have you been feeding that slave these past few days? Why is she so thin? Do you want her to starve to death?
And why won't you let the doctor treat her? Do you want her to die?" Leng Lingjue asked impatiently. Seeing
the fleeting surprise on the old man's face, his mood worsened, as if his innermost thoughts had been exposed. "
What are you thinking? Do you think I'm showing her pity? Foolish! I just don't want her to die before I've finished my revenge
, understand?"

A muffled clap of thunder suddenly sounded in the clear sky, startling the old man and sending chills down his spine.

Anna, who was coming downstairs, couldn't help but laugh: "Heaven has eyes! A bolt from the blue! It seems
someone was lying, and the lie was so bad that even God couldn't stand it and had to give that person a warning."

Leng Lingjue glared at her fiercely, then ignored her, only instructing the old man: "From now on, cook more
good food for her. I don't want to see her continue to lose weight. Go and call the family doctor to treat her. I don't want to
see any more scars on her body. Do you understand?"

"Understood, Master Jue, I'll do it right away." The old man tremblingly agreed and withdrew.

Sweet and sour pork ribs, steamed crucian carp, twice-cooked pork, boiled fish slices, ants climbing a tree, and a large bowl of fragrant rice
were placed in front of Zi Mo, but she just stared blankly, letting her stomach rumble.

The servant who came to collect the dishes was stunned when she saw this scene: "Hey, why aren't you eating? You're complaining about
such good food? Don't you know your place?"

"Food?" Zi Mo raised her head, her big eyes staring straight at the servant: "Zi Nu is so hungry, I really want
to eat , where is the food?"

"It's right here." The servant's eyes widened in surprise: "Are you an idiot or blind?! There are so
many dishes, and you don't even know them?" She picked up the plates one by one: "Look, this is fish, this is meat, this is shredded
potatoes ..."

"These..." Zi Mo slowly took a few steps back and said softly, "These... these aren't for Zi
Nu, they're for the masters. I worked very hard today, but my food hasn't been brought yet."

The servant looked at her in disbelief, then suddenly burst into laughter: "So... so you're not blind, you're an
idiot! Okay, to satisfy your wish, I'll take these. Wait a moment, I'll
bring your food up right away." She turned and left. Soon, a plate of leftovers mixed together was brought to Zi Mo.

Taking the plate, Zi Mo began to eat with satisfaction.

Watching Zi Mo devour her food, the servant couldn't help but sneer, "Idiot, not eating good food but eating pig swill!"
Hearing her companion's agreement, she became even more smug: "Sister, I think from now on we should kindly help her with her meals
, eat them for her. We can't just watch her waste food! Let her get struck by lightning. Doing so is actually
accumulating good karma for her!... Hahaha."

Another hesitated, saying, "Won't we be discovered? Her food was
ordered to be the best."

"Heaven knows, earth knows, you know, and I know. As long as you don't say anything, who will find out? Besides,

leftovers.

The next time Zi Mo's unusual behavior was noticed was during an evening meeting.

That day, because of the upcoming acquisition of several large companies, Leng Lingjue
summoned his four most capable subordinates—Xiao Hua, Xiao Qin, and Lei Shu—along with Anna. After having dinner together, the six of them
began their secret research.

Zi Mo was sent by another butler to serve tea to everyone. Although she was already showing signs of mental instability, she was
immediately frightened by Xiao Hua among the group. In the Temptation Lips, Xiao Hua was like a devil; every
slave there was terrified of him. Moreover, Zi Mo had personally witnessed how he disposed of useless
slaves with utter cruelty.

Of the four, Xiaoqin was the first she had ever met. In that hellish place, her body trembled slightly
involuntarily . Having lost most of her ability to think, she didn't understand why she was like this.
Naturally, she was powerless to control her emotions. She could only let them run their course.

She poured tea nervously, focused on the various documents. The people in the report hadn't noticed
anything amiss , but when they reached Xiaohua's side, she suddenly felt a blackout. It was only for a moment;
when she came to her senses, the hot tea in her hand had spilled all over Xiaohua's skirt and calves, instantly turning a large
area of skin .

Everyone gasped and rushed over, examining the serious injury. Xiaohua smiled gently, enduring the pain,
and said, "It's nothing, just a small thing. Don't make such a fuss."

Zi Mo remained standing there, looking blankly at the chaos in the room. Only
after Xiaoqin hurriedly brought burn ointment and applied it to Xiaohua did Leng Lingjue fiercely stand up, raising his hand and slapping Zi Mo across
the face : "You're too cruel! Who do you think you are? Who can you control who I'm talking to?
Don't you know when to cause trouble? Making a scene like this..." "You're here. Looks like you haven't achieved anything with your seduction. Do you still want to go back?"

Zi Mo slumped to the ground, half her face swelling up rapidly. She
didn't , which made Leng Lingjue even angrier. Just as he was about to order someone to take her away, Xiao Hua quickly said, "Master Jue,
it's nothing. Besides, I wasn't seriously injured. After the medicine was applied, I'm no different from usual. She didn't do it on purpose
. Please don't punish her, Master Jue."

Xiao Qin helped the still dazed Zi Mo up and looked at Leng Lingjue: "Master Jue, I..." Why does she seem so
mentally unstable? She's completely unresponsive, her eyes are so unfocused
.

Leng Lingjue grabbed Zi Mo's collar impatiently. "Don't play dumb with me. Do you think I'm still
the Leng Lingjue from three years ago? Do you think I'd still be humbling myself for you? Stop trying to be funny in front of me,
or you'll regret it."

Zi Mo continued to stare blankly at him, completely unresponsive. Seeing Zi Mo like this made his heart tighten.
Leng Lingjue... Unconsciously, he loosened his grip, waving his hand impatiently, "I'll let it go this time. You go out first and tell the
others to come up and serve her."

His gaze followed the thin figure away, his handsome brows furrowing tightly. "What's going on?
Why does she still look like she could be blown away by a gust of wind? Didn't I tell the person in charge of the slave quarters to
give her some nourishment?" His face hardened. "Fine! You haven't managed your subordinates for years, and they've learned to
be two-faced, daring to disobey me even now."

Following Leng Lingjue's gaze, Xiaohua and Lei Shu exchanged a glance. She quietly asked Xiaoqin, "Is it
her?"

Xiaoqin nodded, her gaze deepening: Master Jue, will you really change for
this ?

Although this was part of his home, Leng Lingjue, as the master, had never set foot
here , because it was the lowest place in the entire villa: the slave quarters.

The slave shed never actually existed in the first place. After all, this was Country A, where slavery had long been abolished.
The so-called slave shed was merely a temporary structure built by Leng Lingjue, and only Zi Mo lived in the dilapidated courtyard.
For some reason, he suddenly felt a strong urge to come here. Although he struggled internally, Leng Lingjue ultimately
succumbed to his deepest desires and wandered into this place he didn't really want to be involved in, yet couldn't refuse.

Zi Mo hadn't returned from work yet. When Leng Lingjue entered the shed, he was shocked. The mess
far exceeded his expectations. Three years ago, he would never have believed Zi Mo could stay in such an environment for more than a
minute . But now, this… this was her residence.

Unable to bear the strange smell in the shed, Leng Lingjue quickly opened the small back window. The sight that greeted him
further astonished him.

Behind the house was a large area of gravel, not quite a sandy area, but a mixture of
fine sand and gravel, a far cry from a well-selected and managed sandy area.

Leng Lingjue was even angrier and ordered the steward to be summoned: "Who's in charge of managing this place?
How can such a nice sandy area have so many gravel? Don't you guys know how to maintain it? Or
are you just too idle?" He roared, secretly terrified: What if Zi Mo wanted to
rest in the sand after returning, and cut her foot on the gravel while walking barefoot? What
if no one noticed her injury and still made her work? He dared not think any further. He immediately decided
to have Zi Mo move out of the slave house that night, and then level the place and clean it up properly.

It was rare to see Leng Lingjue so angry, so the butler dared not be negligent. He quickly dispatched several people to thoroughly clear away the
gravel from the sandy area. Because there were too many gravel, and Leng Lingjue remembered what had just happened, he immediately ordered them to clear away the gravel
along with the sand. Patches of sand were loaded into trucks and quickly transported away to be destroyed.

Leng Lingjue stood there personally supervising the operation. Hearing heavy footsteps outside, he turned around and said
with a stern face , "Where have you been? Why are you only coming back now?"

With a "thud," the things in her hands fell to the ground. Zi Mo stared blankly at the people who were working hard
, then suddenly rushed forward, frantically waving her hands to stop them, screaming madly, "
No , no, don't clean it up, don't clean it up, please, stop!" Tears streamed down her face as her thin body
struggled to push away the crowd.

Everyone was stunned by the scene, including Leng Lingjue. When he saw Zi Mo collapse to
the ground, exhausted, he rushed over and helped her up. "What are you doing? This sand is dirty, it's dangerous,
there are lots of pebbles in it, you…" He swallowed the rest of his sentence, changing
his tone to a calmer one: "This sandy area is useless, cleaning it up won't hurt."

His blank gaze shifted to Leng Lingjue's face: "Dirty sand is… useless stuff." Then
it fell on the things on the truck: "So, useless sand… has no
reason to exist." Feeling the last pang of pain in her dying heart, Zi Mo finally couldn't hold on any longer. Her vision went black, and
her last senses vanished.
