Chapter 10

The war in Twilight Ridge is basically over now. Piles of
corpses and scorched earth contaminated by magical radiation are scattered throughout the valley.

The battlefield cleanup and loot collection are handled by ordinary soldiers. We, the high-level combatants, were
summoned and reassigned. Most were assigned to pursue the remaining enemy forces to prevent the scattered demons from regrouping
and damaging the mountain ecosystem. A few were assigned to battlefield patrols to prevent powerful enemies feigning death from suddenly attacking.

I received the mission to lead an attack on the slave camp, a prison where
elves The few elves who stubbornly resisted there were quickly wiped out after I joined the battle.

In this slave camp, we found many imprisoned orcs and ogres, members of small communities
living near the Twilight Ridge mountains, and even some draenei.

Through interrogation of the prisoners, more information about the war was unearthed.

It turned out that these high elves weren't from Shadowmoon Valley as speculated, but a group of wandering
Azeroth . They followed their prince, traveling in a spaceship in search of a new home in the void, and inadvertently
drifted to Outland.

Having read this far, I think I can now call them Blood Elves. That unfortunate Blood Elf prince,
Kael'thas Sunstrider finally arrived in Outland, although quite some time earlier than in my human memories.
But it's likely due to the parallel universe; deviations in certain things are normal, after all,
even small choices can lead to completely different results.

According to what I know of that history, Kil'jaeden, the current High Commander of the Burning Legion, has already begun his conspiracy.
However, his plans in Outland were only just begun when they were thwarted by my unsuspecting orc brethren. I wonder if
Kil'jaeden will shift his focus to Azeroth next, since the Sunwell there is his
ultimate goal.

For me, this battle was the first war I experienced after my soul fusion. Fortunately, I didn't
die in the melee or in the encounter with the legendary mage.

Although the expensive Tier 3 transcendent greatsword I acquired was unexpectedly destroyed in its maiden battle before
I could even enjoy it, I was heartbroken. I gained experience fighting a legendary enemy above my level. Perhaps all
I need is another high-intensity battle to advance from mortal to saint, just like Garrosh did today.

In this battle, the Horde, with 600 warriors and nearly 1,000 beastmen, defeated the Blood Elf and Demon
Alliance's nearly 2,000 troops. Fewer than 100 Blood Elf soldiers escaped in their airships. Excluding beastman losses,
the Orcish army suffered over 70 dead and over 220 wounded.

For this victory, these losses were completely within the Horde's acceptable range.

"What? Isonia is missing? Brother, are you sure?"

I was incredulous when I heard this news from Garrosh, who had just finished the post-battle meeting.

Isonia is one of the best high-level stealth fighters, her survivability is probably only slightly worse than that of mages of the same rank.
During the final battle beneath the blood elf ship, I clearly saw her mixed in with her own people. How
could she have simply vanished after the battle?

"She definitely disappeared. It's said she was last seen in the chaos beneath the blood elf ship. Could
it be … I heard there was a legendary mage enemy there." Garrosh
, having missed the pursuit of the defeated blood elves during "Mak'gora," was unaware of the final battle's details and naturally guessed that Isonia
might have been killed by a powerful enemy. After all, magic does have many
abilities that can make someone "disappear without a trace," such as [Disintegrate] and [Dimensional Labyrinth].

"Impossible. I was there. That blood elf mage had her aggro completely drawn."

The only legendary elven mage capable of instantly killing Isonia was chasing me the entire time.
Who else could make a high-level professional silently "vanish"?

"You were there? And you even faced off against a legendary mage head-on?"

Garrosh's "I've seen a ghost" expression immediately made me lose face, so I explained
, "Of course I didn't face her head-on, and in the end, it was Professor Lantresor who saved the day. But I guarantee, that blood
elf mage didn't cast a single spell on anyone except me after her initial five fireballs."

"Hmm, since it wasn't the enemy, then Isonia must have hidden herself. Given the chaotic
situation ... could Isonia have secretly gone to the blood elf ship?"

"Very likely. With Isonia's tough personality, such a risky infiltration and sabotage is
entirely possible."

"Saruman, where are you going?" Seeing me turn to leave after I finished speaking, Garrosh asked.

"To find my teacher."

Now that I knew Isonia's whereabouts, I naturally needed to discuss countermeasures with Professor Lantresor.

Although the post-war meeting had ended, the three tribal elders did not leave the main tent. After listening to
Garrosh my report, they each had their own thoughts.

In this war, the Horde spared no expense. Although the legion numbered only about six hundred, it deployed
sixteen high-level professionals, almost completely wiping out its high-level forces stationed at Haran. To guard against
potential legendary enemies, they even recalled the Sword Saint Lantresor Fireblade from the eastern front against the undead.

It was precisely because they possessed twice the number of high-level combatants that they were able to maintain their dominance
despite .

Therefore, every high-level professional was a valuable asset to the Horde, especially those like Isonia, who had become high-level before
the age of had the potential to advance to legendary status; they were especially worthy of careful rescue.

Although Lantresor Fireblade was the temporary commander of the legion, he couldn't act unilaterally. After exchanging opinions with Elders Kridan and
Aclair , the operation to rescue Isonia was finalized.

Sword Saint Lantrisol said to Elder Aklai, "Aklai, I'm afraid I'll have to trouble you with this matter
. As soon as the war ends, I must rush back to the border of the Bone Wastes, and Kridan must also lead his army back to the defensive airspace."
Since it's a fake Harlan, I'll have to trouble you to bring Isonia back with your men. Elder Ackley laughed, "

That child is also a seed of hope for the future of the tribe.
It's only right that this old man
should make the trip. Besides, I'm very interested in the magic technology on the blood elf's airship. Saruman, you'd better come with this old man."

I agreed, "Oh, okay."

Garrosh suddenly said, "Elder Ackley, I'd like to participate in this operation as well."

Before Elder Ackley could answer Garrosh's request, the swordsman Lantrisor
spoke , "Garrosh, you should go back to Haran with Kridan. You've just advanced to Legendary and need time
to consolidate your realm."

Elder Kridan, sitting next to him, also chimed in, "That's right. You're the first of the new generation to advance to Legendary.
You still have a mission at the victory celebration in Haran. Let others handle the chase of the blood elf's airship."

Orcs admire strength and naturally worship heroes. Garrosh's breakthrough to Legendary during the Blood War
is such positive achievement that it should be well publicized to inspire future generations.

Seeing Garrosh's face turn grim, Elder Aklai patted him on the shoulder and said humorously,
"Kid, this is a political mission." He then turned and left the tent.

Following behind, I imitated Elder Aklai, patting Garrosh on the shoulder and saying, "For
the Horde ."

Garrosh: "..."

Once outside the tent, I quickly caught up with Elder Aklai.

"Elder, according to the intelligence obtained from interrogating prisoners, the Blood Elf flagship is hiding in
the wreckage of the continent ravaged by the Netherstorm in the northeast. But flying beasts can't reach that area at all. How are we going to get there?"

"Who said we were going to the Netherstorm zone?"

Elder Aklai looked at me strangely, leaving me bewildered.

"Won't that escaped spaceship go back to their lair?"

"Sigh, I've watched Isonia grow up. Knowing her temperament, would she just sit there obediently waiting
for rescue ?"

I thought about Isonia's usual behavior and shook my head. "Well, it seems unlikely."

"That girl will definitely try to force the spaceship to land. In such a complex environment, finding a
high-level stealth operator focused on causing trouble is extremely difficult."

"Ah, if that's the case, how will we know where the spaceship crashed?"

"Of course, we'll ask!" "

Ask? Ask whom?"

"Why so much nonsense? Just follow us."

Elder Aclair was clearly impatient, so I kept quiet and followed him to the prisoner-holding
area.

It was an open space with over a dozen giant cages above it, each holding seven or eight blood
elves, guarded by a squad of orc soldiers.

Although I was curious about what Elder Aclair was doing here, I wisely refrained from asking.

Elder Aklai, leaning on his staff, walked to a cage containing male prisoners. He extended his free left hand
towards a blood elf soldier within the cage, his fingers hooking as he made a grabbing motion in the air.

[Soul Extraction]

"Ah, ah, ah, ah!!!"

With a scream from the blood elf soldier, countless tiny, pale purple wisps of smoke emerged from his body,
twisting into a thread that flew into Elder Aklai's hand.

Seeing this, the prisoners erupted in a commotion, punctuated by angry curses in Elvish and Common,
but no one paid them any attention—they were merely a group of caged "animals."

Watching the blood elf soldier convulse and breathe his last, the smoke condensed in Elder Aklai's hand
into a pale purple crystal the size of a thumb.

"A soul crystal?"

Although I had heard of such things, this was the first time I had ever seen a warlock create one on the spot.

"Hmm, the hard currency of the Abyss."

For the next while, Elder Aklay continuously cast [Soul Extraction] until
all were killed, obtaining seven strange crystals in return.

After obtaining the soul crystals, Elder Aklay left the place where the prisoners were held and led me to a
cliff with a wide view.

Then, Elder Aklay cast a spell to summon his minion—a huge ball of flesh with
a gaping maw full of sharp teeth, a giant eye in the center of its forehead, and six tentacles with eyeballs
extending outwards from the top of the sphere. It was a beholder, and judging from its size, I judged it to be a high-ranking beholder
.

Elder Aklay communicated with the beholder in demonic language, then handed over a soul crystal. The beholder
took the crystal with its tentacles, threw it into its mouth, and then its massive body, which had been floating in mid-air, wobbled into
the air, widening its central eye and staring intently towards the north where the blood elf ship had left.

The blood elf ship had been gone for most of the day, and it was traveling outside the atmosphere. I didn't know if the
Beholder could still see it, but racial traits are mysterious, so I'll just assume its large eye could function as a
telescope .

After waiting a while, the Beholder descended from the sky and first spoke
a short passage in demonic language to its master, Elder Aclair. After seeing Elder Aclair nod, it began speaking in a strange tone in Common, which I could
understand .

"I saw the ship you mentioned. It seems to have encountered a problem. Just now,
its altitude was rapidly decreasing. I calculated its trajectory and descent speed, and the conclusion is that it will crash into
the Blade's Edge Mountains."

Hearing the Beholder's words, my first thought was that Isonia's sabotage operation had succeeded, and
my second thought was that the Beholder's main eye really could be used as a telescope.

"Looks like Isonia has succeeded."

"Yes, Elder, you're right. Shouldn't we go support her immediately?"

"Blade's Edge Mountains? Before that, we need a guide. I remember Morrit should be familiar with
that area. Let's go find him.
