Chapter 12: The Attack

Wenlun pulled Ziwei into the pinball shop. As soon as they stepped inside, the deafening "clatter, clatter" of the machines assaulted their ears.
Over a hundred pinball machines, gleaming with multicolored lights, seemed to beckon to customers, clanging
and clattering incessantly.

There's a saying among the Japanese: "Work, pinball, subway, sleep"—these are the four main
activities of a white-collar worker's monotonous life. This shows the importance of pinball in their minds.

Pinball, also known as "Kashiwasenko," first appeared in Nagoya eighty years ago and has since become wildly popular throughout the country.

Wenlun and Ziwei stopped in front of a pinball machine that served mahjong. This particular model, "Paksenko," certainly felt familiar
to . They found it amusing, and Wenlun smiled and sat down. He took out 1000 yen and
bought 200 pins from the vending machine next to the machine. Before he even put the pins in the slots, he noticed a 100 yen coin clipped to the lever
controlling . He thought to himself that the previous customer was really forgetful,
forgetting to take his coin after playing. Wenlun casually took the coin out and placed it on the machine before inserting the pins and starting to turn the lever

Following the man's finger, they saw a small sign in the top corner of the machine that read
"Dining in Progress." Wenlun realized that someone was actually playing the machine,
just . He inwardly cried out, "Oh no!

" Seeing the man's fierce face, which looked like he was about to kill someone, Wenlun immediately pulled Ziwei behind him,
saying "Sorry" in English and repeatedly apologizing in Mandarin.

The Japanese man frowned, unable to understand a word they were saying, and assumed they were tourists.
His anger subsided somewhat, and he waved them away.

Wenlun immediately took Ziwei's hand and was about to leave the pinball shop when the Japanese man
called to them from behind. They both turned around and saw the man pointing to the slot, meaning he wanted them to take the pinballs from the machine.

held a softball bat and was repeatedly striking their palms with it, producing

Wenlun was certain the two men meant him ill, so he immediately stopped. Seeing that their path home was blocked,

then, the two men separated, standing on either side of Wenlun.

Wenlun wanted to turn and run, but then he remembered that he was wearing a suit jacket and leather-soled shoes,
which would be too cumbersome for him to run, and he was certain they would catch him. Thinking of this, Wen Lun immediately dismissed the idea and
asked loudly, "What do you want? Do you want money?"

The man in the black leather jacket said, "Kid, if you know what's good for you, hand over your wallet."

took out his wallet and threw it at the man: "You've taken the money, can you move aside now?"

Thinking of this, Wenlun looked at the two men again and saw that they were both right-handed, with their baseball bats held horizontally in
front of them, the tip pointing to the left. To swing their weapons forcefully, they would have to sidestep and
sweep .

Wen Lun understood this, realizing that he only had a briefcase, which couldn't be used as a weapon, but
it was a good shield. He knew the importance of striking first and
needed to act quickly to avoid being caught off guard by both opponents.

He seized his opportunity, took a deep breath, and then, with lightning speed, leaped in
front of the man in the black leather jacket. The two men were startled; they hadn't expected their opponent to attack first. But
before they could even swing their bats, Wen Lun had already kicked out, striking the man squarely in the stomach. The man felt a sharp pain,
his waist bent slightly, and he leaned forward, his head coming right into Wen Lun's chest. Wen Lun's elbow
followed , striking his right cheek squarely, sending him flying backward, rolling on the ground
for a long time before he could get up.

The other man was startled and swung his baseball bat at Wenlun's back, but Wenlun had anticipated the attack from behind.
A quick glance around, he spun around, grabbed his briefcase to block the bat, and kicked out with his right foot. The hard sole of his shoe
struck the man squarely in the chest, sending him staggering back several steps.

Wenlun's loud shout had already awakened many neighbors in the quiet night. Lights began to come on in several
houses , and many people came out onto their balconies to see what was happening.

Zhixian was also peeking out of his room at that moment. Although the streetlights were dim, he recognized one of the men
as Wenlun. Startled, he rushed downstairs. As soon as he opened the door, he saw the man who had been lying on the ground
slowly rising, raising his baseball bat, about to strike Wenlun on the head.

"Wenlun, watch out behind you!" Zhixian shouted, running towards him.

Just then, Wenlun kicked another man in the waist. Hearing Zhixian's shout, he didn't dare turn around and
leaped to the side. Sure enough, a gust of wind from the bat came crashing down on his side. Wenlun was about to retaliate when he suddenly felt another baseball bat
hurtling towards him. He instinctively turned his head to avoid it, but a "thud" was heard as the tip of the

The two men, seeing someone approaching and hearing the shouts of the surrounding residents, dared not continue the pursuit and turned to run,

Seeing Wenlun lying on the ground, Zhixian was even more alarmed. He didn't chase after the two men but rushed to Wenlun's side, calling out several times, "Wenlun,
