【Tying Your Heart】(26-28)

Chapter Twenty-Six: The Uninvited Guest

Facing her roommate's questions, Chen Mo became increasingly adept at explaining. She simply said she was spending the night at a friend's place.

Gao Yuhan asked, "You've been sleeping at that friend's place the last few times?"

"Yeah, she's from Z University, close to the city center. Sometimes when I hang out with her too late, I just sleep in her bed."

Chen Mo did indeed have a classmate at Z University, and she used her as a cover.

Gao Yuhan glanced at her but didn't say anything more.

With exams approaching, Chen Mo threw herself into studying. Aside from occasionally seeing He Wenbai, she

practically lived in the library.

Her art studio classes had ended, and Xiao Hei asked if she wanted to continue next semester. Chen Mo thought about it and

declined.

Although the pre-exam preparation period was incredibly difficult, the storm had finally passed. There are nine

courses this semester. The exam schedule for the first eight is very tight. After the second-to-last exam, Zhang Ke collapsed into his dorm room

with a huge sigh of relief . "Finally, I see the dawn of the revolution."

"There's still one more, comrade." Gao Yuhan shook her hand and said, "In high school, every time

I finished the humanities exam, I felt like my hand was going to be ruined. I wrote almost non-stop for over a hundred minutes. Now, every

exam is just as heavy as the humanities exam. I guess I'll be a level ten disabled person by the end of four years of college."

"Then you'll get one more certificate than us when you graduate." Chen Mo said with a smile.

"Living under the same roof, I only just realized how ruthless you are." Gao Yuhan exclaimed, and she and Chen Mo started fooling around.

"Hey, how about we go out for dinner tomorrow?" Zhang Ke got up from the table. "Anyway,

there are still a few days until the last exam."

"Great! I'm going home as soon as I finish the exam. I was worried I wouldn't have time to have a 'last supper' with you guys."

Chen Mo agreed with both hands.

"Eating with you would be like a trap," Gao Yuhan said, hugging Chen Mo's neck and laughing.

"Then let Sun Yu be your matchmaker."

"You're so annoying," Gao Yuhan said, letting go of Chen Mo and retorting somewhat shyly. The three roommates burst into laughter at her

girlish reaction.

************

The next day, everyone went to a barbecue buffet in high spirits. "I can't eat anymore," Chen Mo was the first

to put down her utensils; her stomach was so full she couldn't even burp.

"You can't eat anymore after just this much? You should at least eat your money's worth," Zhang Ke said, still showing no signs of stopping.

"Then you help us eat our money's worth," Gao Yuhan also "surrendered.

" "And me too, our whole dorm is counting on you," Zheng Minwen chimed in with a smile.

Chen Mo didn't join the teasing, getting up to go to the restroom. There was a long line, so she washed her hands after coming out

and hurriedly walked away.

"Chen Mo?" Hearing someone call her name, she turned around in surprise.

It was a face she hadn't seen in a long time. Chen Mo paused for a moment, "...

Hua'er?"

"I don't work at the art studio anymore. Just call me by my name, Wang Lixin." Chen Mo realized what she meant and

smiled awkwardly. "You...came to eat with friends?"

"Yes." She replied briefly, without any intention of saying goodbye.

Chen Mo felt a little embarrassed, pointed to the restaurant, and said, "I still have friends inside, so I'll be going now."

"It's been so long, let's chat a little longer." Wang Lixin smiled with narrowed eyes, an expression that made Chen Mo uncomfortable

, but she couldn't refuse directly, so she stopped walking.

"Are you still going to the art studio?"

"My classes ended, I haven't gone since last week."

"Ended? Oh, right, with Teacher He giving you private lessons, there's no need to go to the art studio anymore."

Wang Lixin 's tone changed dramatically.

"...What do you mean?" Chen Mo hadn't expected the conversation to take this turn,

and frowned .

"Nothing, just congratulating you on finding a boyfriend." Wang Lixin took a step forward, leaning close to her

ear, "Did you guys have fun at the karaoke that night?"

Chen Mo's ears burned, and she immediately pushed away the body that was leaning towards her, a corner of the unbearable memory being lifted.

"Don't make that face, don't worry, I haven't told anyone else." There was a hint of mockery in Wang Lixin's tone.

Chen Mo's face darkened, and she turned to leave, but was pulled back again. "What exactly do you want?" She

couldn't bear it any longer , and her tone rose slightly.

"I just want to help you."

Wang Lixin's words made Chen Mo sneer. "Help me?"

"I admit, I hate you, but who doesn't hate someone who steals their boyfriend?" Wang Lixin's

tone became slightly more normal. "I regretted not helping you that night. At first, I just wanted to teach you a

lesson, thinking that would prevent you from appearing around him again, thinking that he would change his mind." She paused,

then continued, "Actually, I regret pretending not to see and walking away. I'm a woman too, and I know

that rape is terrible for a woman..."

"Okay, stop talking." Chen Mo felt his healed wounds throbbing again and interrupted, "I accept your

apology. If there's nothing else..."

"I really want to help you this time." Wang Lixin looked directly at Chen Mo and anxiously interjected, "He Wenbo

is no good. Can't you see that?"

Chen Mo was somewhat skeptical of her slightly different attitude. "Don't you hate me? Why do you want to help

me now?"

"Would you believe me if I said I wanted to atone for my sins?" Wang Lixin took out a pack of cigarettes from her bag.

"I don't believe you." Chen Mo looked at her and said coldly, "Smoking is prohibited here."

"Oh, right, right." Wang Li smiled helplessly and put the cigarette back. "Talking about atonement

sounds like I'm being too noble, but I'm really not telling you this out of resentment towards my ex." Her

tone softened, as if she was really serious. "Don't you think he seems like the

perfect boyfriend? Good temper, considerate, and a rich second-generation..."

"Rich second-generation?" Chen Mo could tell that He Wenbo was well-off, but he didn't know to what extent.

"You don't know? His father is the largest shareholder of X Group. Otherwise, how could he live such a lavish life just by running an art studio?"

Wang Lixin was somewhat surprised to see that Chen Mo was truly clueless. "Haven't you been dating for a while? You

don't even know this? What do you know about him then?"

Chen Mo's heart sank. How much did he really know about He Wenbo? Indeed, upon careful consideration, he only had a vague understanding of his family, his

friends , and his work. The He Wenbo he knew was merely

a two-dimensional figure, seemingly complete, yet quite thin.

"It seems he's been hiding a lot from you." Wang Lixin noticed the desolation in Chen Mo's eyes and said softly, "I felt the same way when

we were together. We were always inseparable, but sometimes he felt like a stranger.

Only after we broke up did I realize that he only showed you the side he wanted you to see—the illusion of a perfect

boyfriend . I was completely fooled by him while we were dating, and only after being dumped did I realize how ridiculous I was

. That's what they mean by being blinded by love."

"Just because he didn't tell me some things doesn't mean he was lying to me," Chen Mo said, though her thoughts were in turmoil, she

still didn't believe it. "What you're saying is just your imagination after being dumped."

Chen Mo's stubbornness made Wang Lixin chuckle a few times. "Now I finally know why he chose you.

Such cute and easily fooled girl, who wouldn't want to take a bite? But do you think his choice of you means

he likes you?"

"Enough," Chen Mo snapped, annoyed, having no desire to stay any longer.

"Once the novelty wears off, you might be even more pathetic than I was back then." Chen Mo left without

looking back .

She must be deliberately trying to annoy me. Chen Mo felt a little dizzy, her heart felt like it was being crushed by a stone, she repeatedly

told herself. Wang Lixin must have said that out of jealousy for her ex, that must be it.

Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Rift

Despite forcing herself not to think about Wang Lixin's words, each one pierced

Chen Mo's thoughts like nails, and even back in her dorm, she couldn't calm down.

"What's wrong?" Gao Yuhan noticed Chen Mo's absent-mindedness and leaned forward to ask, "You

're spacing out while studying for the exam? That's not like you."

"Nothing," Chen Mo forced a smile.

"Can't sit still anymore? Daydreaming about vacation?"

"Do you think I'm like you?" Chen Mo said weakly. She turned her head and looked around, finding only

herself and Gao Yuhan in the dormitory. She was a little surprised. "Where are Zhang Ke and Minwen?"

"They went to get a late-night snack. They asked us if we wanted to come with them before they left." Gao Yuhan looked at

Chen Mo in surprise. "How come you don't even remember that?"

"Huh? Oh." Chen Mo patted her head sheepishly and didn't say anything more.

"Are you troubled by something?" Gao Yuhan noticed something was wrong and spoke up.

"...Nothing, nothing." Chen Mo paused for a second and quickly said. She didn't know how to tell Gao

Yuhan what was going on, and she wasn't in the mood to organize her thoughts.

But Gao Yuhan hesitated for a moment, wanting to say something more. Just then, Chen Mo's phone suddenly rang.

"I'll go out and take this call." Chen Mo was grateful for the timely phone call. She smiled at Gao Yuhan and

slipped out of the dormitory.

She breathed a sigh of relief in the corridor and glanced at her phone screen.

Flowers?

Why was she calling? Chen Mo frowned, his phone vibrating incessantly. After hesitating for a long time,

he finally answered.

"Chen Mo, let's make a bet."

Wang Lixin's words puzzled Chen Mo. "What did you say?"

"You trusted He Wenbo so much during the day, do you dare to make a bet with me?"

"What do you mean?"

"You just need to call him now and tell him you want to ask him out for dinner tonight. I'll call him back later

to ask him out, and see if he'll be as devoted as you think." Wang Lixin ignored Chen Mo's displeasure and continued

talking to herself.

"Boring." Chen Mo coldly retorted, "I'm not interested."

"Don't jump to conclusions so quickly. Actually, I accidentally learned something a few days ago that has a significant impact on your

relationship . If you win, I'll tell you."

"What is it?" Chen Mo asked almost blurtly upon hearing this.

"How could I reveal a secret beforehand?" Wang Lixin laughed harshly on the phone. "Don't worry, I

won't lie to you. It's something you desperately need to know but have been kept in the dark about."

"Playing coy. I won't believe an ex." Although Chen Mo was

somewhat , reason reminded her.

"Fine," Wang Lixin relented when she saw that Chen Mo still didn't believe her. "It's okay to tell you now.

I'll send you a photo; make sure you look carefully. If you believe me, do as I say, and then reply to me."

Not long after hanging up, Chen Mo received a multimedia message from Wang Lixin. Should I look at it? She struggled internally.

Wang Lixin's ill intentions were obvious, but she couldn't suppress her curiosity, especially since it was related to

He Wenbo .

Well... I'll take a look. She removed her finger from the lock screen button, thinking to herself.

It's just What's the harm in looking at it? Maybe it's just a smokescreen from Wang Lixin. This way, she can give up and stop

bothering her. The voice echoed repeatedly in Chen Mo's mind. She took a deep breath and clicked on the screen.

On the screen, a strange young woman was holding a suit up to He Wenbai's chest. He Wenbai

was smiling , and the two looked very intimate.

Her head exploded instantly. Chen Mo froze for a few seconds, her mind blank. Trembling, she

zoomed in on the picture, looking at it several times in disbelief.

It was indeed He Wenbai. What was going on? Had he really been lying to me all along? Was what Wang Lixin said true? What should I do?

A barrage of voices filled her ears. Chen Mo stared blankly at He Wenbai's name in her contacts, the screen

's light stinging her eyes. She looked away, her hands trembling violently.

"Hello? Momo?" A voice suddenly came from the phone. Chen Mo was startled, realizing she had accidentally dialed

the number .

"Momo? Momo?" The familiar voice called her name again and again. Chen Mo was in a daze.

She held the phone close to her ear.

"Hmm."

"What's wrong? Why haven't you said anything?" He Wenbo asked with concern.

"Nothing, the signal was bad just now." Chen Mo took a deep breath, trying to calm her tone.

"Oh, I see," his voice was as gentle as ever, "You don't usually call at this time, I

thought something had happened."

Chen Mo listened quietly, wondering if she should confront him now, but would he, like Wang Lixin

said, make up another lie to deceive her?

"Mo Mo, what's up with the call?" He Wenbo

asked .

"I wanted to ask you..." Chen Mo leaned against the wall, her eyes unfocused. She swallowed, paused

for a moment, "Are you free to have dinner with me tomorrow night ?"

********** ... "I'll show you what He Wenbai really is," Wang Lixin replied. She somehow got the key to the art studio. When Chen Mo arrived, Wang Lixin was already inside, sitting smugly under the lamp, smiling at Chen Mo. "I told you I wouldn't lie to you." Chen Mo didn't want to see her gloating face and glanced away. "What are you planning to do next?" "I've already prepared the audience seating." Wang Lixin pushed open the door to the administration office. "I'll talk to him in the studio . You can hide behind this door and have a good view." A long time passed after Chen Mo went into the administration office before he heard footsteps approaching. "Wenbai," Wang Lixin called affectionately. "How did you get the key to the art studio?" It really was He Wenbai's voice. Chen Mo trembled, feeling a sense of despair . "Of course I have my ways." "Hehe, yeah, I forgot, you're the kind of Wang Lixin who won't give up until you get what you want." Their conversation grew closer, and Chen Mo hid behind the door, peeking out through the crack. "What exactly did you mean on the phone last night?" They were already in the studio. He Wenbai had his back to Chen Mo, so his expression couldn't be seen. "I missed you." Wang Lixin hooked her arms around He Wenbai's neck, her face beaming with a sweet smile. "Missed me?" He Wenbai pushed her away. "We broke up six months ago, and now you say you miss me?" "Not six months, five months and eleven days." Wang Lixin took He Wenbai's hand and placed it on her chest. "Our first time was right here. Want to relive that dream?" Her voice was so sweet it could practically drip honey. She hooked her leg around He Wenbai's and rubbed it against him. Chen Mo couldn't help but clench his fists. "How come I never noticed before..." He Wenbai slowly laid Wang Lixin down on the table. She smiled radiantly and glanced at Chen Mo. "You're so shameless." Wang Lixin's radiant expression froze, staring at He Wenbai in disbelief. "Do you think I'd eat something I've already bitten?" He Wenbai's mocking laughter sounded unfamiliar. He seemed to be looking at something dirty, narrowing his eyes disdainfully. "What a waste of your pretty face; you're just a slut." "He Wenbai, you..." "Stop talking nonsense," He Wenbai interrupted Wang Lixin. "I'm here to make you explain . What do you mean you have something on me?" "It means exactly what it says." Wang Lixin got up from the table, slightly embarrassed, and chuckled. "What's that saying again? Oh, 'If you don't want others to know, don't do it in the first place.'" "What exactly do you know?" He Wenbai's tone remained relatively calm. "I went to S Department Store on Sunday and saw you." Wang Lixin stared at He Wenbai confidently. " Who was looking at suits with you?" "Hmm?" He Wenbai was puzzled. Chen Mo, listening to Wang Lixin, suddenly remembered. That day, Sun Yu treated his dorm to dinner. Later, while shopping at the mall, he bumped into He Wenbo, who had just returned from a business trip. They were indeed near the suit section. He explained that he was accompanying a friend to buy a suit. "It's her." Wang Lixin took out her phone and waved it in front of He Wenbo. "Don't tell me it's just a friend . Would just friends look at suits so intimately?" "...Hahaha." He Wenbo glanced at it and burst out laughing. "What are you laughing at?" Wang Lixin couldn't figure out what he was thinking and felt a little unsure. "I thought you'd discovered something, but it's just this." He Wenbo turned away dismissively, and Chen Mo quickly hid in the darkness. "I have things to do. You can play by yourself." "Hey, you... explain yourself." "Explain what?" He Wenbo stopped, seemingly standing at the entrance of the administration office. "Who are you? Why I explain to you?" "Aren't you afraid I'll tell Chen Mo?" He Wenbo paused. "What did you say?" "You think nobody knows about you and Chen Mo?" Wang Lixin's tone became smug again. "I know everything you did at the KTV that night I thought you broke up with me because of your guilt that night, and that a few days apart would be enough to cool off. Who knew you two were hooking up? Heh, that Chen Mo is really shameless. He was raped and still..." "Shut up." He Wenbo interrupted Wang Lixin sharply. "Oh, you feel sorry for her, huh?" Wang Lixin said in a affected tone. "Tell me, what will happen if I show her these photos?" "Are you threatening me?" "I'm just curious, when did you and that girl get together? Were you two-timing me too?" "What does your curiosity have to do with me?" He Wenbo regained his composure. "A few photos, what does ? Tell Chen Mo? Will she believe you?" "Being your girlfriend is very insecure. Half of my heart is devoted to loving you, and the other half is used to guard against you. Do you think Chen Mo isn't like that?" "I know her better than you do."

"You're so confident in her?" Wang Lixin said mockingly. Chen Mo had a bad feeling. "I'm afraid she

's not confident in you at all."

"Boring," He Wenbo said, taking a step forward.

Suddenly, the door in front of Chen Mo was pushed open, and Wang Lixin roughly pulled her out of the darkness. "Oh,

who is this?" He Wenbo turned around impatiently, about to say something, but was stunned by the scene before him and froze

on the spot.

"Can't figure it out? Let me sort things out for you." Wang Lixin pulled Chen Mo forward a few steps, and Chen Mo

struggled to shake off her hand. "Mo Mo, whom you trust so much, has already suspected you. She contacted me a few days ago and sent

me those photos, asking me to test you..."

"No!" Chen Mo was shocked by her words and hurriedly interrupted, "You're talking nonsense."

"No what? Did I kidnap you to come here?" Wang Lixin retorted, looking at

Chen Mo .

Chen Mo was speechless. She glared at Wang Lixin, her eyes reddening.

"He Wenbai, what do you mean by understanding and trusting her? You..."

"Get out." He Wenbai stopped Wang Lixin.

Wang Lixin thought she had misheard and looked at He Wenbai in disbelief. "You want me to..."

"I'm telling you to get out." He raised his voice, his expression terrifyingly gloomy.

"Hmph, consider tonight a free show." Wang Lixin couldn't take it anymore, and with a sour

laugh , she turned and left. The empty studio was left with only two silent people.

"You doubt me?" He Wenbai tried his best to calm his tone and spoke in a low voice.

"No, it's all because... because of that photo..." Chen Mo hesitated.

"We're just friends, we met when we were studying in England. You've met A-Quan, he's her boyfriend." He Wenbai looked

at Chen Mo, who bit her lower lip and didn't speak.

"Oh, it seems I explained it too simply, without any persuasiveness." He Wenbai smiled self-deprecatingly.

"That's not what I meant," Chen Mo quickly said, her voice trembling and lacking confidence.

She timidly grabbed He Wenbai's sleeve. "I think..."

"Then let me explain in more detail." He Wenbai grabbed her hand and squeezed it tightly. "That day,

A-Quan had something to do, and I happened to be near the airport, so I picked him up. The three of us ate together, and we looked at

suits together, but those photos only showed the two of us. So, do you want me to call

them one by one to verify with you, or have them come to you right now to prove it to you!"

Chen Mo had never seen He Wenbai so angry. He made her afraid to breathe, her wrist aching from his grip, but

she didn't dare to struggle. "Don't be like this, it's my fault, I shouldn't have... I was just worried...

"

"Worried?" He Wenbai looked directly at Chen Mo, his agitation gradually fading. The grip on his hand

loosened unconsciously, and a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes. "You were worried?"

"I...I'm just afraid...I just..." Chen Mo didn't know how to explain, tears welling up

in her eyes . She looked up at He Wenbai, even hoping he would

smile gently like before and hug her.

But he remained expressionless.

"Since you're afraid, then let's not see each other again."

Chapter Twenty-Eight: Goodbye and Never Again

Chen Mo didn't know how she got back to her dorm. She took a shower in a daze and climbed into bed. She nestled

under the covers, staring blankly at her phone, the screen going dark and then back on, over and over again. She didn't have the courage to

call , just holding onto the warm phone until dawn.

The next day, during the exam, Chen Mo couldn't write anything. He Wenbai's last

words , "Let's not see each other again," and the words on her pen unconsciously slanted.

Afraid her roommates would ask, she grabbed her suitcase and was about to leave as soon as she got back to the dorm.

"Isn't your flight at four in the afternoon?" Gao Yuhan quickly grabbed Chen Mo, and the other two in the dorm also

looked over .

"You're mistaken, it's 1 o'clock." Chen Mo waved hastily at them and turned to leave.

She hadn't eaten lunch, her head bowed, dragging her suitcase and carrying her bag, walking step by step under the scorching sun. The parasol hung

on the side of her backpack, but she didn't take it out.

The subway was crowded at noon; she needed to transfer twice to get to the airport. The surroundings were bustling with noise—talking, footsteps, and

the rumble of subway trains arriving. Chen Mo felt a heavy head; she couldn't lift herself up.

After passing through security, she sank into a seat in the waiting area. People hurrying past or waiting nearby were either

looking at their phones or making calls. Chen Mo was in a daze for a long time before finally picking up her phone and dialing.

"Sorry, the user you dialed..." She painstakingly pressed a few keys,

only to hear a mechanical reply. Unwilling to give up, she tirelessly repeated the dialing motion. Although she still didn't

know what to say, she simply refused to accept the cold rejection from the other end of the line.

Is this how it ends? We went through so many twists and turns to be together, and now it's all ruined by my own rash

decision. Chen Mo boarded the plane dejectedly and sat down heavily. It wasn't disbelief, nor was it harboring

any suspicion. The figure she had always watched from afar had come to her side and embraced her tightly. This happiness

caught her off guard. Afraid that if she didn't hold on tight, it would slip through her fingers, she clung tightly, with all her might

, until she tore her hands raw.

The flight attendant seemed to be making an announcement. Chen Mo felt a buzzing in her ears. She sank into

a quagmire ; heartbreak and despair sprouted tiny hands, pulling her deeper and deeper into the abyss.

"Hello, I'm sitting inside... Chen Mo?"

Chen Mo, her eyes red, looked up in response. "Oh, Liao Ran."

************

Since Liao Ran sat down, Chen Mo had maintained a stiff posture, turning her head away and forcing herself to hold back tears, even though they

were already welling up in her eyes. Not wanting anyone to see her in such a wretched state, Chen Mo carefully maintained her

precarious balance. Her eyes were red and swollen, and she blinked uncomfortably, tears unexpectedly falling.

Ugh, even you won't do what I want. Chen Mo angrily wiped her eyes hard, but the tears only

flowed like a burst dam, more and more uncontrollably.

"Here."

Chen Mo lowered her eyes, glancing out of the corner of her eye at Liao Ran handing her a pack of tissues. Out of politeness, she didn't immediately take it.

Seeing that her eyes were smudged from rubbing, yet she hesitated pointlessly, Liao Ran pulled out

a tissue and reached out to wipe her eyes.

Chen Mo was startled, her eyes widening as she looked at him, shrinking back slightly.

Liao Ran's hand awkwardly hung in mid-air, and he could only smile helplessly, "I didn't mean anything by it, it's just

that it's not good for you to get off the plane with a smudged face."

Chen Mo lowered her head slightly and took the tissue.

"Going home for vacation?" Liao Ran asked tentatively.

Chen Mo nodded.

"The holidays start so early now. When I was in school, the college would drag out the exams until the very last minute before the official holiday

deadline ." Liao Ran paused, and seeing that Chen Mo didn't seem inclined to respond, he continued, "You guys

have air conditioning now, how lucky! Back then, our whole dorm only had one fan, it was a real hell of studying

..."

Although he kept rambling on and on, strangely, Chen Mo didn't find it annoying.

It seemed better than being alone, like a crack being torn open in the gloom that had been gathering around her, letting in

a gentle breeze. Although it couldn't compare to the warmth of the sun, it calmed her down a bit.

Chen Mo listened quietly, her sobs subsiding, but she still didn't speak.

Soon, the flight attendants started serving drinks. Chen Mo was exhausted from crying for so long, so she asked for a glass of water.

"You had a fight with your boyfriend, didn't you?"

Chen Mo had just brought the water to her lips when she almost spat it out, staring at Liao Ran in disbelief.

"Was that too... abrupt?"

"How did you know?" Chen Mo opened her mouth, but then relented.

"'The words 'heartbreak' are written all over your face, only a blind person wouldn't notice.'" Liao Ran breathed a sigh of relief when Chen

Mo spoke, carefully trying to ease the tension.

"Oh." Chen Mo touched her face and said nothing more.

"Why don't you talk about it? It's better than keeping it bottled up inside." Liao Ran gently encouraged her.

Chen Mo didn't want to speak, after all, she and Liao Ran weren't close enough to share their secrets.

As she turned to refuse, she was met with Liao Ran's genuinely concerned eyes. She paused slightly,

her heart, exhausted from crying, inexplicably softened, and her nose stung again.

Seeing Chen Mo on the verge of tears, Liao Ran panicked and awkwardly apologized repeatedly, "I'm sorry, I'm

sorry cry, I was wrong, I won't ask..."

Chen Mo looked at him, and tears suddenly streamed down her face. "We broke up." Even Chen Mo herself couldn't understand

why she told Liao Ran this, but she did. She only briefly mentioned that there had been a misunderstanding between them, and

they had hastily broken up.

Although Chen Mo didn't elaborate, Liao Ran could tell she was unwilling to let go. Not knowing the details, she couldn't offer any

comfort she could only advise Chen Mo to calm down, and that the misunderstanding would be easier to resolve once both of them had calmed down

.

"So you're saying he turned off his phone because he was angry with me?" Chen Mo was a little confused from crying. "If he stays

angry and can't calm down, the misunderstanding will never be cleared up, and then we'll really break up."

Liao Ran sighed inwardly. Sure enough, girls in love are the most foolish. "No way, don't I understand

men ? It's just a small misunderstanding. As long as he sees so many missed calls, he'll definitely soften. Besides

..."

He hesitated for a moment, swallowing back the "Besides, you're so cute."

Chen Mo didn't notice the unfinished sentence and nodded slightly with relief.

"I promise, you'll definitely be able to contact him within three days." Liao Ran didn't know where his confidence came from

, but seeing Chen Mo's brow slowly relax, he couldn't help but feel happy.

The plane had a layover in Shanghai. Liao Ran's journey had reached its end, while Chen Mo had to continue.

As , Chen Mo thanked him again, "Thank you. It feels so much better to have someone to talk to."

"It's nothing. This might be the last time we speak face-to-face. I'm happy to have been able to help you."

For some reason, these words sounded more poignant than he had imagined. Liao Ran was surprised even after saying them, but

when he saw Chen Mo's bright eyes, he suddenly understood.

"Why do you say that?"

"The company is transferring me to Australia. I took a long leave to visit my dad at H University. I'm back in

Shanghai to pack up, and I'll be leaving in a few days."

"I didn't realize you had such a bright future ahead of you." Chen Mo joked lightly. "Although we haven't known each other

for long, I'm still very happy to have met you. Take good care of yourself while you're away, and have a good time."

Chen Mo sincerely wished him well.

"Hey, wait a minute." Liao Ran called out to Chen Mo, who was about to leave, and took a few steps forward. "Can I hug you?"

Chen Mo responded with a "Huh?" sound, somewhat at a loss.

"Haha, never mind, never mind." Liao Ran shrugged, not wanting to put Chen Mo in a difficult position. "I didn't think it through, it was just

a casual remark, don't take it to heart..."

Chen Mo noticed a hint of disappointment in Liao Ran's eyes. Thinking that since they were unlikely to see each

other why not give him a farewell hug? Besides, she was genuinely grateful to him on the plane. Chen Mo smiled nonchalantly and

suddenly opened his arms to hug Liao Ran, who was still talking.

Liao Ran was startled and instantly fell silent.

"Consider it a farewell gift from me." Chen Mo gave her a light hug and walked away from Liao Ran.

"See you again someday." She blinked, waved, and walked in another direction.

Liao Ran took a while to react, standing there watching his receding figure, and smiled faintly.

"Yes, see you again someday."
