[Fantasy] The Imprisoned Concubine's Tale (Complete) - Chapter 17

Chapter 133, Aren't you tired?

After Consort Shu left, the vast Panlong Palace instantly fell silent. Mingruo breathed a slight sigh of relief, leaning back on the bed, her expression inscrutable, no one could tell what she was thinking.

Because Mingruo preferred quiet, Emperor Xuli usually forbade the palace maids and eunuchs to make a sound unless there was something important, not even the slightest.

But Eunuch An couldn't suppress his curiosity, "Your Majesty..."

Mingruo responded and looked over, her crystal-clear purple eyes gleaming like lake water.

"What did Your Majesty mean by what you just said? Consort Shu actually stormed off after hearing it?" And—Consort Shu actually understood it?! Although he came from a poor background, he had read some books since entering the palace, but why had he never heard this sentence before? If he himself couldn't understand it, how could a concubine who only knew how to dress up, admire flowers and butterflies, and scheme against each other understand it?

Seeing his expression, Mingruo knew what he was thinking, and she smiled slightly. "It's just a simple proverb, Eunuch An, don't worry about it. Besides... Consort Shu's father is the Grand Tutor, how could she not understand?"

Eunuch An was about to say something when a clear, magnetic voice came: "What are you chatting about, so happily?"

"Your Majesty." He quickly bowed, and before Emperor Xuli could speak, he respectfully bowed and withdrew.

Emperor Xuli walked to the bedside, pulled Mingruo into his arms, his handsome face bearing a faint smile: "What's wrong?

You didn't say a word when you saw your father return?"

Mingruo shook her head, her small hand held by him. His palm was icy, but incredibly safe and strong. "Father, just now... Consort Shu came..." Before she could finish speaking, Emperor Xuli interrupted her, his tone full of displeasure. "How did she get in?" If he remembered correctly, he should have forbade anyone from entering Panlong Palace.

Seeing his apparent displeasure, Mingruo quickly grasped his cold hand, "No, no, it was Ruo'er who let her in."

"Hmm?" Raising an eyebrow, Emperor Xuli looked around, his gaze finally settling on a pair of gifts on the table. He glanced at Mingruo, gesturing with his chin towards the table, "She sent them?"

"...Yes." Mingruo nodded obediently, "I didn't want to accept them, but... it seems Consort Shu doesn't intend to take them back." Without waiting for Emperor Xuli's reply, she asked again, "Father, about the Long family—"

Emperor Xuli stroked her jade-like hand, his slender fingers moving incessantly, his expression somewhat amused, "She came because of the Long family? To plead with you?"

Mingruo blushed, which brought a touch of life to her otherwise pale face, "Yes."

"No need to pay her any attention." He held her and gently rocked her, treating her like a child, "I have my own plans."

"You have your own plans... Are you going to confiscate the Long family's property?" Mingruo asked cautiously, her large eyes constantly glancing at Emperor Xuli, always watching his emotions and expressions, afraid of saying something she shouldn't.

Emperor Xuli raised an eyebrow in surprise: "How did Ruo'er figure that out?"

Biting her lip, she looked at Emperor Xuli timidly: "I guessed."

The two concise words successfully made Emperor Xuli smile. He tapped the tip of her nose, lowered his head to kiss her soft lips. Mingruo couldn't dodge in time and was kissed by him. Her soft little tongue was immediately sucked in and couldn't be pulled back. Clear saliva flowed down from the corner of her lips. She whimpered, her small hands pressed against Emperor Xuli's chest, as if trying to push him away, or as if she was getting closer.

"Ruo'er guessed right." Having finally released her, he even licked the saliva from the corner of her mouth and put it in his own. Seeing this, Mingruo

blushed involuntarily, almost unable to look directly at Emperor Xuli's expression. If Emperor Xuli hadn't spoken, she might have buried herself in the blankets. "Father did it on purpose."

Seeing her tilt her head, looking confused, Emperor Xuli chuckled, "We're going to war with Jiang Kingdom soon. Although the treasury isn't empty, having more money is always good. Moreover, the Long family is growing stronger, and their ambitions are questionable. If we don't eliminate them soon, they'll become a menace." He just happened to want Mingruo, and the Long family's daughter claimed to be looking for her ideal husband, so he conveniently offered Duanmu Yun, thus obtaining a perfect reason to confiscate their property.

Mingruo thought back to the time Eunuch An accompanied her out of the palace to see Duanmu Yun; even an ordinary servant's attitude was so arrogant and domineering, let alone the masters of the Long family. "Then...did I do the right thing by not agreeing to Consort Shu's request for leniency?"

Emperor Xuli nodded slightly and asked softly, "Are you tired?" Although she had been resting in bed these past few days, her body was still somewhat weak, and she would start panting after walking only a few steps. "Lie down first." He pulled the pillow away from her back, then laid her down, pulled the blanket over her, and gazed at her intently with his deep purple eyes. "Rest well for a while, Father will stay with you."

She also felt tired, so she hummed in agreement and slowly closed her eyes. Seeing that she seemed to be asleep, Emperor Xuli's eyes gleamed with an unknown light. He held Mingruo's hand, carefully pulled the blanket over her exposed wrist, and tucked the messy strands of hair from her forehead behind her ear. Gazing at her with his purple eyes, he felt his heart melting.

Even just watching her quietly like this filled him with joy.

Mingruo slept for a very long time. When she woke up, the sunlight streaming through the window was already dim and yellow. She had slept past lunchtime and into the evening.

Normally, she wouldn't sleep like this; even when extremely tired, a short nap would only last about an hour. But this time, she slept for so long… Was it because her father, the Emperor, was beside her? Mingruo blinked, looking at Emperor Xuli, who was sleeping soundly beside the bed—she had almost never seen him asleep, because he always lulled her to sleep before he slept himself, waking up before she did. She had never seen him nap or take a short rest either; the few times he did were always to keep her company. This time… it was the first time she had seen him asleep.

Like a child, completely unlike the noble emperor who could terrify officials with a single glance.

He was still holding her hand. Mingruo tremblingly reached out her other hand and carefully brushed a strand of hair from his forehead. He had been in this position since she fell asleep, and hadn't moved an inch.

Lying down and looking at him, this man still exuded a terrifyingly demonic aura. His thin lips were slightly pursed, and when Emperor Xuli closed his eyes, he looked like an immortal who had stepped out of a painting, without the slightest trace of his sinister nature. Mingruo's eyes revealed a tenderness and pity that she herself did not realize. She stroked his face with her small hand, as if asking him or talking to herself, "Aren't you tired?"

After asking this question, she wanted to sit up in bed, but as soon as her small hand in Emperor Xuli's palm moved slightly, Emperor Xuli suddenly opened his eyes—there was no indication that he had been sleeping just moments before.

Mingruo was startled by his alertness. "Father, Father Emperor?"

"Awake?" Perhaps because he had just opened his eyes, Emperor Xuli was conscious, but his voice was still slightly hoarse. "Are you hungry?"

His question made Mingruo realize her stomach was empty. She nodded, and Emperor Xuli then summoned her.

(Chapter 134, "A Fleeting Moment,"

because Wei Tuo had overslept and hadn't eaten much for breakfast.) Mingruo was truly hungry, and she sat on Emperor Xuli's lap, eating until her belly was round. Emperor Xuli, on the other hand, didn't eat much. He only drank a bowl of porridge and didn't touch his chopsticks again. When Mingruo finished eating, he asked, "Are you full?"

Mingruo nodded, struggling to get down, but he held her even tighter. "Come for a walk with me." He gestured for a maid to bring a cloak, draped it over himself first, then wrapped Mingruo in his arms before leading her outside. "The wind is calm tonight, and you've been cooped up in bed for days. A walk will be good for you." He tightened the cloak as he spoke. Mingruo was held tightly, but she was overjoyed to be able to leave Panlong Palace. Her previously pale face now showed a hint of happiness. She looked at Emperor Xuli and nodded.

She had thought they would only walk outside, but Emperor Xuli had brought her to Zhuohua Palace!

Mingruo was a little stunned. She stood at the palace gate, looking at Emperor Xuli, wondering why they had come here. Emperor Xuli noticed the surprise in her eyes, gently poked her soft cheek with his finger, and didn't answer. The guards, seeing it was the emperor, immediately knelt and bowed respectfully. He led Mingruo inside, smiling, "Take a look, do you like it?"

She looked as instructed, her phoenix eyes widening in disbelief. She simply couldn't believe what she was seeing!

None of the flowers she had planted in the palace were missing; on the contrary, there were many more flowers she had only ever seen in books! Because it was winter, the peach orchard was devoid of green, but this did not diminish its beauty in the slightest. Mingruo looked at Emperor Xuli, trembling. He was smiling at her, taking her small hand and leading her inside: "I'm showing you this so you won't cry, come on."

Everything was beyond Mingruo's expectations. Although Zhuohua Palace was nominally sealed off, nothing inside had changed, not a single thing! The bronze mirror she had used for seventeen years, the bed she had slept on for seventeen years… the beaded curtains, the carved window frames—nothing had changed.

The only extra thing was the huge bonsai tree in the center of the room, filled with lush green trees. Logically… the flowering season should have already passed, but this tree was covered in large flower buds, and a rich fragrance filled the air just by getting close. Mingruo looked at Emperor Xuli with delight. He was also gazing at her with a beaming smile, then led her to the table to sit down, their eyes fixed on the enormous bonsai. “Tonight, I’m really going to feast my eyes.”

Her father’s words implied… “Will it bloom tonight?!”

Seeing her overjoyed face, Emperor Xuli chuckled, “That’s right.”

Mingruo was instantly overjoyed. She even forgot her poor health and eagerly tried to run to the bonsai, but Emperor Xuli grabbed her by the waist. “…Father?”

“I want you to see it, not touch it.” Emperor Xuli raised an eyebrow slightly, his face expressionless, but his eyes were full of tenderness. "This isn't an ordinary epiphyllum. Father went to great lengths to bring it here in winter so it wouldn't freeze to death on the way." This flower is truly precious; no wonder the Long family kept it underground for decades, afraid to bring it out. It dies in the light, in the wind, in the heat, and in the cold... Heaven knows how to cultivate it to keep it alive. "It feels ice-cold to the touch. You've only just recovered. You should sit quietly and watch it bloom before going back to bed."

Hearing this, Mingru pouted with disappointment. She stared at the flower longingly, but the more she looked, the more she felt that although it looked like an epiphyllum, it seemed quite different... At least she had never seen a purple one before. (Friendly reminder: The epiphyllum is now turning purple!) "Can't I even touch it?"

Emperor Xu Li shook his head, giving her no hope. "No."

Ming Ruo had no choice but to nestle obediently in his arms, her purple eyes fixed on the flower bud without blinking. She didn't even notice the pastry Emperor Xu Li offered her, swallowing it whole in one gulp. Emperor Xu Li even suspected she hadn't chewed it.

Not long after, Ming Ruo noticed the flower bud seemed to move slightly. She immediately climbed excitedly off Emperor Xu Li's lap, grabbing his sleeve and hurriedly saying, "Father, Father...look, look!"

Emperor Xu Li looked in the direction she was pointing, his expression still indifferent, showing no surprise. He had no particular fondness for anything in his life. Flowers, plants, gold, silver, silk, beautiful women, and the throne were all dust to him. Even the most beautiful scenery was no different from black and white in his eyes. But Ming Ruo liked it, so he forced himself to like it too. “I see it.”

“Isn’t it beautiful?” she asked, blinking her big eyes, hoping he would resonate with her. Emperor Xu Li, naturally unwilling to spoil Ming Ruo’s mood, slightly raised the corners of his lips: “Mm.”

Their conversation lasted only a few sentences before Ming Ruo’s eyes quickly returned to the beautiful scenery before her. She watched as the plump flower buds slowly opened, revealing their tender white stamens. Time seemed to pass incredibly slowly. Although she had heard of the flower’s beauty before and knew its general shape from books, the shock she felt upon seeing it in person was indescribable.

Layer upon layer of petals unfolded, like snow, like a painting. Ming Ruo held her breath, watching this unbelievably beautiful scene. She saw the petals overlapping in large clusters, the pale yellow sepals exquisitely delicate, the purple petals spreading from deep to light, enveloped in a pale pink floral coat, the tips of the petals gradually becoming pointed, finally forming an umbrella-like halo, the fragrance becoming even more intense. Ming Ruo’s heart pounded fiercely. She had never seen such a beautiful scene before; its beauty was so captivating that it could enchant even the soul.

"It will soon wither," Emperor Xuli's gentle voice reached her ears. Mingruo snapped back to reality, noticing the hourglass beside her, and realized with a start that an hour had passed. She placed her hand on her chest, realizing her breathing was still rapid. "A fleeting moment, only for Wei Tuo." He had waited for so long for one person.

"Father..." Mingruo murmured, flustered by his unexpectedly fervent emotions. The emotion she had felt earlier from the beauty of the epiphyllum was instantly pulled back, yet she couldn't help but look at the flower… Did her father mean that he was like that fleeting epiphyllum? Only for one person, only blooming for such a short while, only for that one person.

Emperor Xuli looked at her with a half-smile, the curve of his lips deep and lingering, but without a trace of regret or remorse. He took Mingruo's small hand and stood up, leading her to the potted plant. He plucked a flower and tucked it behind her ear, saying, "No matter how beautiful a flower is, it will wither alone if no one appreciates it. This purple epiphyllum is rare in the world, but its medicinal effects are quite good."

Her face was already small, and with such a large flower as a backdrop, she looked even more delicate and charming, like a little fairy pendant. Emperor Xuli kissed her hairline with satisfaction, then took her hand and was about to leave. Still relying on your hands? How can that be satisfying? Forum reputation guaranteed! Chapter 135, Going to War (Part 1)

The wind gradually picked up outside. Mingruo wondered if it was her imagination, but she seemed to feel fine snowflakes hitting her face, stinging painfully. Emperor Xu Li held her close, shielding her from most of the wind and snow. He could have easily ordered someone to hold an umbrella, but he insisted on leading her by the hand.

The road from Zhuohua Palace to Panlong Palace was quite long, and Mingruo felt a deep unease, though she couldn't pinpoint why. After witnessing Zitan's beauty for the first time, her mind seemed to have become hazy and confused; she had no idea what she was thinking, let alone how Emperor Xu Li felt.

Fortunately, the snow had just fallen, and only a thin layer had accumulated on the ground, making a soft sound underfoot. Mingruo remembered how, when she lived in Zhuohua Palace, she often sneaked out to play in the snow when Granny Duan wasn't looking, her hands and cheeks turning red from the cold, but she felt genuinely happy.

Now, that happiness was far removed from her.

Perhaps it would never return.

After they returned to their palace, Mingruo thought Emperor Xuli was going to torment her again, but to her surprise, he did nothing. He simply pulled her into bed, took off her outer garments and shoes, tucked her into the covers, and then remained silent. She had a vague feeling that something might be about to happen, but if Emperor Xuli didn't want her to know, even if she had extraordinary abilities, it would be useless.

"Sleep." He kissed her forehead, then pulled her closer to him, a hint of weariness in his handsome features. Mingruo could tell he was tired, so she didn't say anything more and obediently closed her eyes. Seeing her obedience, Emperor Xuli kissed her again.

She slept until late morning. In the following days, Mingruo felt that Emperor Xuli was always in a hurry, spending significantly more time in the imperial study. Sometimes she would fall asleep shortly after being brought there, but when she woke up, Emperor Xuli would still be sitting at the table, looking at something. Mingruo rubbed her eyes. The brazier in the imperial study was burning brightly, so it wasn't cold; she felt sweaty even in her palace attire.

Hearing footsteps behind her, Emperor Xu Li turned around: "Awake?"

"...Mmm." She rubbed her eyes again, feeling as if her eyelids were about to fight. As he drew closer, she saw him looking at a map. Her pink lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to speak but didn't. She placed her small hand on Emperor Xu Li's outstretched palm and was pulled into his lap.

Like feeding a cat, he moved the fruit platter and pastries from the small table beside them. While looking at the map, Emperor Xu Li fed Ming Ruo an apricot. It was winter, not the season for these fruits, but no one knew where Emperor Xu Li had gotten them. Whatever Ming Ruo liked, whether reasonable or impossible, the palace had it all.

Taking a bite from his large palm, Ming Ruo also looked at the map, which was filled with dense place names and various symbols—she couldn't understand a word of it. "Father... what is this?" "A

strategic map," Emperor Xu Li replied calmly, holding the apricot in one hand and pointing at the map with the other. "This is the border where we're fighting with the Jiang Kingdom."

Mingruo looked at the small dot, marked with "100,000" next to it. Did that mean an army of 100,000? "...Is it really going to be another war?"

"That's right." His expression was indifferent, as usual, revealing no particular emotion. "Duanmu Yun has already led his troops out."

Hearing this, Mingruo was startled, her eyes immediately turning to Emperor Xuli. He was also looking over, as if wanting to see her reaction, until he confirmed that there was no concern or worry for Duanmu Yun in her eyes before slowly turning his gaze back to the map. "Your eldest brother is going with you, don't worry about him."

"...I'm not worried." Mingruo retorted, blinking slightly, a little flustered, not daring to look directly at Emperor Xuli, as if afraid he would see through her guilty conscience. But she was still concerned about his words, "My eldest brother is going too, but he doesn't know anything."

"Eat." He first ordered her to continue eating the apricots, and then said. “No one is born knowing how to fight. What's the point of just talking about war on paper without actual training?”

“So, is Your Majesty going to learn?” Mingruo asked, tilting her head. “To Xiang Yun—General Duanmu?”

“You could say that.” Emperor Xuli responded, but his eyes were strangely unpredictable; even Mingruo couldn't immediately discern the fleeting glint in them. Emperor Xuli seemed to realize this as well. He quickly composed himself, a smile playing on his thin lips. He put down the apricot she had almost finished eating and replaced it with a piece of plum blossom cake.

What else could Mingruo do but eat? She continued to eat the cake from Emperor Xuli's hand, her eyes fixed intently on the map in his hand. Occasionally, she would see him use a vermilion brush to draw circles on it, but her mind was elsewhere. She didn't understand. Duanmu Yun had once said that her father could have nipped Jiang Kingdom's ambitions in the bud, but why didn't he? Instead, he watched Jiang Kingdom grow stronger by recruiting soldiers? Was it all to provoke a war?

Impossible. Although the Da'an Dynasty possessed absolute strength, in any war, it was always the common people who suffered. Soldiers bled and died on the battlefield, and civilians were displaced during the war. Why not thwart Jiang's ambitions from the very beginning? Wouldn't that have solved the problem once and for all?

She couldn't understand Emperor Xuli's thoughts, but she knew his ultimate goal was definitely not for the sake of the world or the common people. Emperor Xuli was not a benevolent emperor who loved his people like his own children. He was powerful, calm, and wise, but also absolutely cold-blooded.

So... what was his purpose?

Hadn't they already fought a few days ago, and had Jiang signed a surrender document? They not only returned the small border towns of the Da'an Dynasty that they had seized, but also ceded several cities. Why did they suddenly start provoking again? In less than a year, Jiang had already recovered enough? Did their soldiers lack food and supplies?

Thinking about these chaotic questions, Mingruo felt like she was going crazy. These difficult and profound things were indeed not suitable for her. Medical books and the like were much simpler. She hastily finished the pastries in Emperor Xuli's hand, then grabbed his hand as he reached for more, asking anxiously, "Father, how long will this war take?"

"With both countries at war, and it being winter, conditions are much harsher, so it will naturally take longer." Emperor Xuli put down his pen and elegantly closed the map. "What, in such a hurry to see Duanmu Yun?"

Although his words were emotionless and his face remained calm, Mingruo knew perfectly well what lay hidden beneath that mask. If she dared to admit it, he might storm off on the spot. "No, I just... just thinking..."

"Thinking about what?" he asked leisurely, waiting for her to give him a reason.

Yes, thinking about what?!

Mingruo realized she couldn't justify herself, but heaven knows, she really didn't want to see Duanmu Yun, not even a little bit! Okay... a little, but only a little.

Seeing the conflicted look on her face, Emperor Xuli surprisingly let her go: "Alright, I won't force you. Judging by their speed... they probably won't be back until spring."

...Spring?!

Chapter 136, The Expedition (Part 2)

Although it was said to be spring, news actually arrived from the front lines just before the New Year: the First Prince had been killed by an assassin who had infiltrated the army!

This news shocked the entire world, and Mingruo felt uneasy from the bottom of her heart. As the commander-in-chief and also the Grand General of the State, Duanmu Yun should have been responsible for protecting the prince, especially since... this was the First Prince, the first in line to the throne! Even if the war ended in victory, he would still be responsible, let alone the fact that the war was not over yet!

But Emperor Xuli did not show any unusual emotions. In fact, after the news came back, he was no different from before. It was as if nothing had happened, as if the one who died was just an ordinary soldier, not his first prince.

Mingruo did not understand what Emperor Xuli was thinking, and she dared not ask, only worrying inwardly.

As the year drew to a close, envoys from various countries arrived before the New Year to offer tribute and express their grief over the passing of the Crown Prince. Emperor Xuli hosted a banquet, inviting the envoys from each country. Most of those sent were eloquent ministers from their respective nations, but only the Wuhuan sent their king.

The Wuhuan were a nomadic people whose people had lived on horseback since birth. Due to their remote location and harsh climate, they presented a rare and exquisite snow fox fur coat. While the Da'an Dynasty wasn't as cold as the Wuhuan, it was still cold enough to make one shiver in winter. Wearing this snow fox fur coat would provide warmth even under a single layer of clothing.

A chief eunuch was in charge of announcing the tributes. Emperor Xuli didn't even glance at the other tributes as they were being recorded and stored, but he only showed interest when the Wuhuan's snow fox fur coat, known for its heat-preserving and warm properties, was mentioned.

Eunuch An descended from the main hall and presented the fox fur coat with both hands. Emperor Xuli didn't examine it closely before draping it over Mingruo's shoulders and bowing his head to ask, "Are you hot?" There was a brazier burning in the main hall, so she should have felt hot wearing the fox fur coat.

But Mingruo shook her head: "No, I'm not hot."

He grabbed the hat from behind and put it on her, making her already small face appear even smaller, but also making her delicate features look even more beautiful. "Of all the things I've seen, this is the only one that's somewhat useful." Emperor Xuli disregarded the feelings of the envoys present, his thin lips parting to reveal a slightly mocking smile.

But the people below dared not even show their joy, let alone be angry. Who would dare risk the destruction of their country to anger such a dangerous and unfathomable man?

In front of everyone, he leaned down to kiss her. Mingruo's face flushed, but she couldn't offend him in front of outsiders. After much deliberation, she could only carefully clutch the hem of Emperor Xuli's dragon robe, closing her watery eyes and obediently accepting his kiss. Fortunately, Emperor Xuli's imposing and cold demeanor was enough to intimidate the officials and envoys present, so no one dared to show any unusual expression.

But Mingruo couldn't ignore the piercingly resentful gaze from beside her.

It was the Empress.

Thinking about it, it made sense. Tonight, Emperor Xuli hadn't let her sit in his lap, but rather beside him—what kind of treatment was that! The seat beside the Emperor was traditionally reserved for the mother of the nation. Although she had been granted the title of Consort Ming, a high position, she was still not the Empress. Sitting here… it always felt somewhat illegitimate. But Emperor Xuli hadn't spoken, and she dared not say anything. Who could stop him from doing what he wanted? Besides… other people's opinions meant nothing to him.

Someone stood up, holding a wine cup: "Everyone says His Majesty is wise, martial, and handsome. Seeing him today, I truly live up to the reputation. I hope Your Majesty will do me the honor; I'll drink this cup first!" With that, he downed the wine in one gulp.

Mingruo looked on curiously and saw that the man was wearing a crimson robe, the fabric of which seemed to be from the Central Plains, but the texture and style were different from what she usually saw. He wore a heavy, dark gray cloak over it, a woolen hat, and some strange ornaments. His appearance was extremely rugged, with a thick beard, making it difficult to discern his features. But he called himself "I"... Could he be the Wuhuan king who had come personally? Just as

she was thinking this, her small hand was suddenly gripped tightly, causing Mingruo to gasp in pain. Above her, Emperor Xuli asked in a calm, emotionless voice, "What are you looking at, Ruo'er?"

"Nothing..." she quickly shook her head, indicating her innocence. "I just think his clothes are interesting." She had read about the customs and traditions of different countries in books, but this was the first time she had witnessed them firsthand.

This answer was reluctant, but not unacceptable. Emperor Xuli chuckled, not bothering with the man standing awkwardly on his seat, holding a wine cup. He simply whispered in Mingruo's ear, "What's so interesting about this? The capital is far to the north. The people there are close to the Turks, Kucha, and Rouran, and their customs are about 70-80% the same. They're much more interesting than this big man. Your father will take you there sometime."

Mingruo nodded obediently. Only then did Emperor Xuli turn his face, pick up his wine cup, and take a small sip. He showed no particular emotion, simply saying, "King Shalue, you flatter me."

Shalue... a name of slaughter and plunder?!

What a menacing name! Who would choose such a name?

Mingruo looked at the wine in front of her, curious. She glanced around, making sure no one dared to stare at her, before cautiously reaching for the glass. But the King of Sharu, seemingly oblivious to her presence, suddenly changed the subject to her: "Not only is His Majesty of your country imposingly noble, but even Your Majesty the Empress is breathtakingly beautiful!"

The Empress… was he referring to her?

These words created an awkward atmosphere in the hall, especially for Mingruo. If looks could kill, she felt she would have died a thousand times over by now.

But no one dared to correct this mistake, especially Emperor Xuli, who even seemed to enjoy it. He accepted the King of Sharu's praise without hesitation, saying, "King Sharu is truly eloquent; you've struck a chord with me." He then unexpectedly laughed.

This laugh was enough to nearly make the officials in the hall gasp! Emperor Xuli laughed… he actually laughed! And it was a laugh without any particular meaning! This was truly a spectacle!

The only two who remained calm about this matter were Mingruo and Emperor Xuli. Although King Shaluo found it impossible, he suppressed his astonishment and bowed slightly to Emperor Xuli, saying loudly, "Since Your Majesty is so pleased, may I ask for a request?"

Emperor Xuli still smiled, "King Shaluo, please speak."

"Although the timing is not right, but..." Shaluo's expression hesitated, "I wish to request Your Majesty to bestow a princess as the queen consort of my Wuhuan Kingdom."

This statement shocked everyone present. Even Mingruo raised her head in surprise from beside Emperor Xuli...

Chapter 137, The Expedition (Part 2)

...No way?! Does

this man even have a brain?!

Mingruo couldn't understand King Shaluo's thinking. Although it was the end of the year, a festive occasion, had he forgotten that the eldest prince of the Da'an Dynasty had just been murdered?! He had come to express condolences, not to propose marriage!

The assembled officials and envoys were all visibly shocked. Emperor Xuli, however, showed little emotion, merely raising an eyebrow and remaining silent, awaiting Shalu's next words. Sure enough, a short while later, the tall man spoke: "Your Majesty, please grant the Wuhuan and the Da'an Dynasty a lasting alliance. I, Shalu, swear to the Wolf God that I will never invade a single blade of grass on the borders of the Da'an Dynasty in my lifetime. The Wuhuan will be a vassal state of the Da'an Dynasty for generations to come!"

The proposal was incredibly tempting; even Mingruo could see the immense benefits. But Emperor Xuli merely smiled, and in front of everyone, bowed his head and asked her, "My beloved consort, do you think I should agree?"

He had actually given Mingruo the decision!

Not only the assembled officials and envoys, but even Mingruo herself couldn't believe what Emperor Xuli had said. She quickly grabbed his hand, tilting her head up with a hint of pleading in her voice, "Father... if I can't make this decision, please forgive me..."

"Hmm?" Emperor Xu Li snorted softly, and she immediately lowered her head obediently, his slender fingers lifting her chin. "I said you can, so you can. From your perspective alone, is this marriage or not?" He asked seriously, and Ming Ruo was stunned. She blinked, weighing the matter in her mind for a long time—although her heart was pounding, it was really too much to ask her to decide such a major matter concerning the friendship between the two countries. But Emperor Xu Li's smiling eyes told her: Just say what you want to say, I'll take care of anything, no matter how big the problem.

Yes, it was this unrestrained pampering that made her increasingly unlike herself. Ming Ruo took a deep breath, nestled in Emperor Xu Li's arms, and nodded. Emperor Xuli then glanced at Shaluo with his head held high: "Granted."

"Thank you, Your Majesty!" He was about to utter some more vows when Emperor Xuli interrupted him. "I have no interest in such nonsense. King Shaluo can take a look. My three princesses are all in power. Just say which one you fancy."

His words were truly outrageous. After all, they were his own daughters. Wouldn't such a contemptuous attitude make Shaluo look down on his elder sisters? Mingruo was puzzled, but she said nothing. She only felt pairs of eyes filled with resentment and hatred being cast upon her—of course, she knew who they were.

Shaluo was indeed not polite. His black eyes immediately stared directly at the three princesses. His wolf-like, predatory gaze made them tremble involuntarily. After a while, perhaps even Shaluo himself was unsure which one to choose. He hesitated for a moment and then said, "Your Majesty, may I be granted the eldest princess?"

Upon hearing this, the eldest princess's eyes immediately filled with tears. She looked helplessly at Consort De—her mother—but what could Consort De possibly say in such a situation?! From her mother's eyes, Mingyue knew she was destined to marry, and the culprit behind all this was that troublemaker! She lowered her head abruptly, feeling her girlish heart crumble into pieces.

She had thought that with the General's return and her fourth sister's death, she would be the most suitable person to marry him. Now, however, not only was marrying the General impossible, but even seeing him again was a luxury!

Compared to the eldest princess's gloom, the second princess, Mingjing, and the third princess, Mingmu, were secretly delighted. Especially Mingjing; her mother was the Empress, with a higher status and title than Mingmu, and her eldest sister was about to marry far away to the Wuhuan. Now, who could possibly compete with her!

“If King Shaluo is pleased, then so be it.” Emperor Xuli appeared quite agreeable. He didn’t even glance at Ming Yue, but simply instructed Eunuch An, “Starting tomorrow, the Imperial Household Department and the Ministry of Rites will work together to prepare the Princess’s dowry.” Shaluo would be staying in the capital for at least another half month; there was plenty of time.

Eunuch An respectfully agreed.

Thus, the matter was concluded. Emperor Xuli raised his wine cup, and everyone drank and chatted merrily, no one daring to utter a word.

Only after returning to her palace did Mingruo dare to ask the question that had been nagging at her: "Father, why did you agree to the marriage alliance with King Shalu?"

"Guess, Ruo'er," Emperor Xuli said, pulling her towards the enormous dragon bed. Once seated, he embraced her, his large hand removing a red hairpin from her hair. She looked stunning in her finery, but he felt the rouge tainted her delicate features. He applied a touch of bright red lipstick to his own lips, wiping away the traces, and then pressed his thin lips to hers, giving her a soft, delicate kiss. "A reward if you guess correctly."

A reward… "What reward?"

The little thing was quite bold. Since that was the case, he couldn't very well discourage her, could he? "You can have whatever you want, Ruo'er."

"Hmm…" Mingruo tilted her head, thinking for a long time, "I want Father to carry me around the palace three times."

This request… truly surprised him. He had thought she would ask for leniency towards Duanmu Yun or to meet with Consort Huai. "...Granted." His large hand stroked her small face. The gold hairpins and ribbons on Mingruo's head had been removed by Emperor Xuli. This was the first time he had styled her hair so elaborately; thankfully, it wasn't too bad, and he hadn't broken her neck. Her

silky, smooth hair cascaded down, covering Emperor Xuli's palm. He gently caressed her soft, dark hair, then untied the braid still tied on her head and kissed it lightly in his palm. His affectionate and tender expression made Mingruo blush. Her golden-red palace dress made her even more beautiful than flowers, unbelievably gorgeous.

This scene... was very similar to their wedding day, except that back then she was filled with fear of him and had to submit for Duanmu Yun; now... although she hadn't completely fallen in love with him, she was already inseparable from him.

Emperor Xuli was quite satisfied with this outcome. He had plenty of time to spend with her slowly, there was no rush. Sweet fruits always need careful nurturing, don't they?

"How am I supposed to guess what's going on with Father like this?" Mingruo pulled her hair back from his palm, her delicate face appearing even more radiant. Emperor Xuli's demonic aura was too strong; even just his simple gaze made her feel utterly helpless.

Emperor Xuli innocently withdrew his hand, raising it to indicate he wouldn't disturb her. Just as Mingruo was about to speak, he had a question: "Wait, what if you guess wrong?"

Mingruo hesitated for a moment, and before she could answer, Emperor Xuli said, "If Ruo'er can't guess, how about pleasing Father Emperor again like last time?"

Chapter 138, Life is Full of Passionate Love (Part 1)

Upon hearing Emperor Xuli's words, Mingruo's face immediately changed. She glanced at Emperor Xuli half fearfully and half regretfully, regretting the huge pit she had dug for herself: "Hmm... can I back out?"

Seeing her rare act of shamelessness, Emperor Xuli couldn't help but smile broadly: "Ruo'er, have you tried?"

After thinking for a long time, Mingruo decided to guess first, and if she guessed wrong, she could back out: "I guess... Father Emperor did it on purpose?"

Emperor Xuli raised his eyebrows in surprise: "Why do you say that, Ruo'er?"

"Because after King Shalue proposed the marriage alliance, Father Emperor didn't feel anything at all." She looked up at his expression first, and then slowly spoke. "Although she showed surprise... it was all an act." Surprisingly, no one present saw through her.

Although he already knew she could read his mind, Emperor Xuli was still amazed when he actually witnessed it. He had always been a free spirit, and no one had ever truly understood his thoughts. He disliked being guessed at, but when Mingruo became the one trying to figure him out, he felt an urge to dissect himself and reveal his true intentions to her. He smiled approvingly, encouraging her to keep going: "And then?"

"And then..." Mingruo stammered. "And then..."

"What, can't guess?"

She shook her head: "Father's calm response to King Shalu's marriage proposal means you must have known all along. But... but how did you know such a thing? Do you have mind-reading abilities? And—why did you entrust the decision to me? What if I didn't understand the implications and casually declined?"

"Don't worry, Father will tell you if you want to know." Patting her soft cheek, Emperor Xuli smiled broadly. “I didn’t know beforehand that Sharyu was asking for a marriage alliance; I just guessed.”

“Guessed?” Mingruo was even more confused.

“That’s right.” She twirled a strand of long hair around her fingertip. “Although the Wuhuan are a nomadic state, their strength shouldn’t be underestimated, especially after Sharyu ascended the throne. He’s been working hard to settle them down, but they lack the geographical advantages. So what can they do? They have to migrate, of course. But can he just make that happen? Only war can give him what he wants, but without a legitimate reason, he naturally has to find a way to start a war. As for the marriage alliance with the Da’an Dynasty… it really does have two advantages. First, it gives us a strong backer, so even if we are defeated in the future, other countries will have to give way out of respect for the Da’an Dynasty; second… it’s easier for him to devour us.”

Mingruo was even more confused. “Their wolfish ambitions are so obvious, why did Father agree?” Her face suddenly turned deathly pale. "Father didn't want to agree at first... so he let Ruo'er decide, right? But Ruo'er actually agreed..."

He held her soft hand and squeezed it. "It's none of your business. Everything was within Father's expectations." Seeing her tilting her head, her face full of confusion, he patiently explained to her, "Speaking of the Wuhuan, they're just like you, ungrateful wretches..."

Ming Ruo immediately puffed out her cheeks, and Emperor Xu Li chuckled, reaching out to rub her soft cheeks. "Of course, they can't compare to my darling. It's like raising a tiger to cause trouble. Whether it's the Wuhuan or any other small country, raising them for too long will only lead to trouble. It's better to give them some hope and create conditions that are enough to start a war."

"But... if that's the case, wouldn't my eldest sister become a sacrifice?" Ming Ruo lowered her eyes, unable to describe the feeling in her heart. Although they were sisters born of the same father, they didn't really have any affection for each other. But thinking about it, if she were still living in the palace, perhaps she would be the one suffering the same fate today.

“Born into the royal family, she should have been aware of this long ago.” He never paid attention to his children, but that didn't mean he was ignorant. He knew perfectly well which ones were more intelligent and which were more spoiled. As for where these pawns were best suited, he knew exactly what to do with them.

Mingruo was already familiar with Emperor Xuli's answer; she would only find it strange if he ever developed feelings for someone other than him. “That's true, but is Father so certain that King Shaluo will fall for the trap?”

Emperor Xuli raised an eyebrow: “Of course.”

…Well, actually, she thought so too.

Mingruo was about to say something more, but Emperor Xuli had already changed her position from hugging to pressing down on her. In just a few seconds, she felt dizzy. When she came to her senses, his face was already a hair's breadth away from hers: "Father...?"

"None of that matters. What matters is... who won the bet just now? Me?"

"But I guessed right!" she immediately protested.

"Oh... is that so? Ruo'er guessed right?" Emperor Xuli nodded, feigning sudden realization, then smiled warmly: "But Ruo'er only guessed half right."

"...Then I guessed right too." Mingruo stubbornly refused to admit defeat. "Father didn't say whether guessing half counted or not. Anyway, I guessed right."

She rarely acted spoiled, so Emperor Xuli naturally wouldn't interrupt her—in fact, he liked Mingruo's playful and willful little appearance. Unfortunately, her nature was too calm, and her inherent gentleness was too strong. No matter how mischievous she was, she couldn't hide her elegant charm. "Alright, alright, Ruo'er guessed right, and she guessed right too." He grinned at Mingruo, who was still trying to decipher the strangeness in his smile when Xu Lidi suddenly scooped her up in his arms. She hadn't even had a chance to see clearly before she was nestled on his broad back. She'd

never been so high before. Mingruo stared blankly ahead, stunned for a few seconds, then quickly recovered. She wrapped her little arms around Xu Lidi's neck, resting her face on his head, inhaling the rich, sweet scent of white datura.

Noticing the rare happiness of his beloved on his back, Xu Lidi naturally wanted to tease her and make her smile. He felt like a callow youth himself, blushing and his heart pounding in his chest at the sight of his sweetheart, willing to do anything impossible for her. "Was it fun?"

Mingruo wrapped her arms around his neck and looked down at him, her watery purple eyes filled with endless laughter. It was the first time she had laughed so loudly in front of him. Her clear laughter was as melodious as silver bells, so sweet that it melted Emperor Xuli's heart. "Fun!"

"Then Father will make it even more fun for you." He said, and like a young boy, he carried her around the palace, getting faster and faster. Mingruo held him tightly, her long hair flying everywhere as he ran, until Mingruo started to say she was dizzy. Emperor Xuli then changed from carrying her on his back to holding her in his arms. With a little effort, he tossed her into the air and then caught her steadily amidst her screams. His celestial face was full of smiles: "Want to play some more?"

Chapter 139, Life is Full of Passionate Love (Part 2)

"Play!" Mingruo's voice was loud and clear. She had never had such an experience before. It made her feel like she had returned to her childhood, reading about ordinary families enjoying family happiness in books, while she felt a deep sense of envy and loss that she could never have. Rather than seeing Emperor Xuli as a man, she was imagining her father playing with her—though that was indeed the case, Emperor Xuli would never agree.

Her happiness naturally pleased Emperor Xuli. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "Let's change the game."

Hearing this, Mingruo was initially stunned, then wrapped her arms around his neck and nodded vigorously.

But she immediately regretted it, because her father's game didn't seem like simple "playing." Her small hands pressed against Emperor Xuli's handsome face, trying to twist his nose, eyes, and mouth together: "Father, why are you taking off my clothes!" Emperor

Xuli chuckled: "Playing." He didn't care at all that his wise and mighty image had been ruined by her.

"No, no, I don't want to play like this!" Mingruo refused, struggling and pushing against Emperor Xuli's face with her small hands, trying to push him away. But Emperor Xuli took the opportunity to pull her down onto the bed, Mingruo pressing against him, her large eyes sparkling with a mixture of embarrassment and barely suppressed joy. “Father Emperor—”

“But you just agreed.” He continued undressing as he spoke. “Besides, Ruo’er only guessed half right. This bet should be a tie between the two of us. Father Emperor has already carried you around three times. Isn’t it my turn to receive the reward now?”

She knew it, she knew it! He wouldn’t suffer any loss when it came to matters of the bed!

Ming Ruo was filled with regret. She remembered Emperor Xu Li’s request… and felt more and more that she had to escape. But with her body sandwiched between his legs, where would she get the strength to break free?! “Father Emperor, Father Emperor, please don’t! I don’t want you to carry me anymore…”

“Now you want to back out?” Emperor Xu Li raised his eyebrows. He wasn’t someone who was so easy to talk to. "It's too late." Seeing Mingruo's face scrunched up in tears, he smiled and comforted her. "Sweetie, Father hasn't held you for over a month since you fell ill. I'm about to explode with pent-up desire." Tonight's banquet was just to confirm that she was fully recovered, and to ensure a perfect and intoxicating night of passion, he had even added some aphrodisiac to her porridge. Now it was time for it to take effect.

...It seemed that was indeed the case. Only then did Mingruo belatedly realize that Emperor Xuli hadn't touched her for a long time. She had been too engrossed in the moment and hadn't remembered. "But..." I still want you to carry me.

"Be good, after we're done, Father will carry you every day." He knew what she was thinking, so he offered her a big reward in advance. Mingruo bit her lip, and Emperor Xuli waited patiently. Finally, she nodded, collapsing onto him and going limp, as if she had let down all her guard.

But Emperor Xu Li laughed. Ming Ruo heard his laughter, looked up at him, and he suppressed a laugh and gently kissed her: "We're here to share the joys of life, not to go to the execution ground. Your expression has truly broken your father's heart."

Embarrassed by his words, Ming Ruo blushed, pursed her lips, and looked around, refusing to look at Emperor Xu Li. Fortunately, he didn't force her, but simply held her face and showered her with numerous kisses, quietly waiting for the right moment.

Gradually

, Ming Ruo felt something was wrong. If this were before, wouldn't Emperor Xu Li have pounced on her like a hungry wolf and devoured her? Why was he now so unmoved, only focused on kissing her? And he hadn't touched her for over a month!

Wait, wait... why did she suddenly feel... a little hot?!

No, not a little hot, but very hot... A captivating blush spread across her face, and her already exquisite features, illuminated by the palace lanterns, appeared even more stunning and alluring. "Father..." she murmured, calling to Emperor Xuli, her face lowered to the crook of his neck, leaning against him weakly. "So hot...why is it so hot..."

Emperor Xuli gently stroked her hair. Mingruo, nestled against him, felt an indescribable comfort. He naturally had a lower body temperature, and she was burning up; touching him was like finding an oasis in the desert. Her small hands haphazardly pulled open Emperor Xuli's robes and slipped inside. The cool, warm touch made Mingruo sigh with pleasure. She lowered her face and rubbed against his neck like a kitten.

Emperor Xuli continued to stroke her slowly and deliberately, without any hurry. Sure enough, Mingruo soon became unsatisfied; the flames deep within her grew stronger, but that patch of skin was no longer enough. She abruptly raised her head, her face flushed, her trembling little hands grabbing at Emperor Xu Li's robes, trying to tear them off, but to no avail. Frustrated, she opened her mouth and began to bite, her snow-white teeth biting into a button, snapping it off with a savage motion. Then, like spreading out a sheet of paper, she spread her palm downwards, revealing a large expanse of Emperor Xu Li's warm, smooth chest.

"Such sharp little teeth," he chuckled, completely indulging Ming Ruo's wanton actions. "Don't bite Father until he bleeds."

Ming Ruo couldn't hear what he was saying. She let out a sigh of relief and pressed herself against him, her entire body limp against Emperor Xu Li's, her burning cheeks rubbing against his cool skin. His chest vibrated with her laughter. She pressed her ear to his chest and heard his warm, powerful heartbeat: "Father..."

"Good girl, why are you calling me Father?"

"Hot..." Mingruo searched for Emperor Xuli's gaze with hazy eyes, only feeling relieved when she confirmed he was looking at her. Her pink lips pouted, as if she was very unhappy with her discomfort. "Ruo'er is hot..."

"Ruo'er is hot, what should we do?" A large, warm hand brushed across her back, and the clothes that had been draped over her were completely removed, the coolness covering her hot body. Mingruo squinted comfortably, like a kitten whose fur had been stroked.

It was temporarily relieved, but wave after wave of even stronger heat followed: "Father, Father, touch me..." Her soft little hands grabbed the large hand that was stroking her hair on her back and placed it on her chest, "Father, touch Ruo'er..."

So Emperor Xuli readily pinched her pink little breasts and asked innocently, "Touch what?"

"Touch... touch..." Mingruo rubbed against him, ignoring the burning desire in his heart. "Touching Ruo'er will make her cool... ah..."

Twisting the small, pink nipple, Emperor Xu Li smiled at the dazed beauty in his arms: "Is Ruo'er good?"

"Good, Ruo'er is very good—" She eagerly pressed her lips to his, her pink tongue licking Emperor Xu Li's thin lips, her sharp little teeth nibbling rhythmically. Even in this state of infatuation, she subconsciously controlled herself from actually biting him, despite how delicious his almost icy white lips looked.

Chapter 140, Life is Full of Passion (Part 2)

"Really?" She's good? Emperor Xu Li couldn't help but smile, his large hand twirling the tender nipple, not believing a word from her lips. "Where is Ruo'er good?"

"Good everywhere, Ruo'er is good everywhere... wuwu..." Gradually, simple rubbing was no longer enough for Ming Ruo; she licked Emperor Xu Li's lips, her petite body wriggling like a little worm. "Father, Father, Ruoruo is uncomfortable... Waaah—it's so hot, so hot—" Her little feet began to kick against Emperor Xuli's trouser legs, trying to completely cover herself with him.

To stop her from crying, Emperor Xuli cooperated by lifting his lower body, allowing her hands to undo his belt. Then, he was instantly naked. Mingruo didn't care about anything else and pounced on him, hugging Emperor Xuli and rubbing against him forcefully, as if trying to meld herself into his body. "Father, Father, touch Ruoruo... touch..." After stripping Emperor Xuli naked, Mingruo grabbed his large hands and let them roam all over her body, letting him touch wherever it was hot. Emperor Xuli cooperated without saying a word, but he wasn't proactive. Even when Mingruo pressed his hands against her chest, he remained indifferent.

This made Mingruo anxious. She sobbed and shook his hands, her eyes immediately filling with tears, as if she was about to cry.

Emperor Xu Li sighed, pulled her down into his arms, and soothed her gently, "Alright, alright, let Father touch you. Touch here... or here?" He pinched her smooth, snowy breasts, then pinched her tender, pink nipples, his ethereal face bearing a faint smile.

Startled by the pinch, Ming Ruo gasped, then squinted her large eyes and slumped into Emperor Xu Li's arms, "Mmm... right there... ahh..."

He kneaded her smooth, fragrant breasts deeply, his thumb occasionally pinching and twisting her nipples. Emperor Xu Li, holding the radiant beauty, sat up, pinning her beneath him, her back against the wall. He leaned closer, his handsome face so close he could count her eyelashes. Ming Ruo was still a little dazed; she still felt hot, but when Emperor Xu Li's face drew near, her already flushed face burned even hotter, "Father..." She reached out to hug his neck.

Emperor Xuli deftly dodged, watching the little beauty's slightly tearful expression as she failed to be held. A high smile curved his lips: "Do you want Father to hold you?"

She nodded obediently, her little hands still outstretched.

"Good girl, then Ruo'er, take off your clothes too." He coaxed softly, his purple phoenix eyes sparkling as he stared intently at her face, his large hands beginning to lightly trace patterns on her cheeks. "If you take everything off, Father will hold you."

Ming Ruo didn't hesitate at all. Her clothes were already disheveled from the earlier play and the heat, with only a shawl and belt holding them up precariously. Her little hands grabbed the belt haphazardly and tugged at it, eventually creating a knot that wouldn't hold! Ming Ruo stared blankly at the knot in her hand, her lips pouting. Seeing that she was about to cry, Emperor Xuli quickly stepped forward to help, and with a slight squeeze of his fingers, the knot snapped. Mingruo continued undressing, this time without her usual shyness. She removed her inner and outer garments one by one, slowly revealing her fair skin and slender shoulders.

When only her bodice remained, Emperor Xuli's gaze deepened. His earlier caresses had caused the bodice's ties to loosen, and with just a moment, Mingruo's upper body would be completely naked.

The little thing showed no coyness; the mild aphrodisiac he had administered had unexpectedly worked, making the usually timid girl so passionate. When her slender upper body was completely exposed before Emperor Xuli, he finally reached out and embraced her.

Her temperature was high, but still within the normal range. Emperor Xuli felt a slight worry. Although her body seemed better, how could years of weakness and frailty be cured in less than a year? Not to mention she had been seriously ill just a month ago. Would the medicine he had given her… have any adverse effects on her health?

Emperor Xu Li felt deep regret for only realizing this now. But Ming Ruo had no idea what he was thinking; she was still hot, still felt that only holding him could slightly alleviate her burning pain. "Father... Father..." Afraid that Emperor Xu Li would push her away at any moment, Ming Ruo clung tightly, burying her face in his neck and rubbing against him, her hot breath spraying against his ear, making him unable to resist his arousal.

"Father is here, Ruo'er, be good. Let Father help you take off your clothes, okay?" He gestured for her to open her arms, but Ming Ruo refused, clinging to him tightly, refusing to open them no matter what, making Emperor Xu Li both amused and exasperated, realizing that his earlier teasing had frightened her. "Good girl, Father will help you take off your bodice, and then I'll hug you..."

"No!" Ming Ruo refused crisply, muttering a few words no one could understand, then vaguely said, "I'll take it off myself." Saying that, she let go of one hand, impatiently ripped off her bodice and threw it aside, then hung herself back around Emperor Xu Li's neck, fixated on him, refusing to move an inch.

Although Emperor Xu Li was pleased, he still couldn't hide his inner loneliness: "If only you were this obedient on ordinary days." He wouldn't have to resort to such methods to get what he wanted.

Ming Ruo didn't understand what he was saying. She mumbled and clung to Emperor Xu Li's neck, unwilling to let go, but feeling hot, she kept pressing herself against his chest, her tender breasts rubbing against his chest to dispel the slight heat. But this could only solve her immediate needs. The fire in Mingruo's heart burned ever brighter. Even with Xu Lidi holding her, she still felt hot in his arms. She wondered if it was just her imagination, but something seemed to be flowing between her legs…

How could this be?!

Xu Lidi was already completely naked. Mingruo sat in his lap, and he immediately noticed the sweet fluid flowing from between her legs. He held her waist with one hand and wiped her between her legs with the other, raising an eyebrow with a hint of teasing: "Look, Ruo'er, what's this?" He then put his finger in his mouth and sucked on it.

Mingruo looked at him, her face flushed, wanting to speak but instinctively clamping her legs together. How annoying! Why couldn't she control her body?!

"Flowing again?" Xu Lidi chuckled, spreading her legs apart without a word, allowing her to sit on him with her legs wide open. The flowing love fluid instantly dripped between his legs, wetting his dark hair and giving off a strange, erotic scent.
