Give Love to Dad - Chapter 122 The Abyss of Worldliness

The tense atmosphere, seemingly ready to erupt at any moment, slowly dissipated in the silence. Outside the window, the rain intensified, and the condensed mist obscured all the clouds, making the room feel even colder and more deserted, devoid of any warmth.
Zou Bei was stunned for a moment. A single word of concern replaced the joy of their meeting with sadness. She quietly stepped off Zou Feng's lap, pulled the towel around her shoulder, walked to the window, and wiped away the condensation. Outside, the traffic flowed like water, and the bustling city remained as silent as ever.
Losing his weight, Zou Feng felt utterly lost. The person he longed for now only left him with a frail back view. A piercing pain shot through him. Where had his beloved daughter, who used to cling to him in his memories, gone? Where had the girl who always greeted him with a smile gone? How many things had happened that he was unaware of? Perhaps he should have come to see his daughter sooner. The guilt and regret in Zou Feng's eyes became more and more obvious. He stepped forward and hugged Zou Bei from behind, holding her tightly in his arms. Following her gaze into the distance, he lowered his head and silently comforted her.
A warm, aching sensation lingered in her heart. Pushing open a crack in the window, the wind, unwilling to be outdone, whipped the rain into tear tracks. Zou Bei's stiff body couldn't withstand Zou Feng's tender, loving kiss; her silence turned to a sob, and she wearily leaned against his strong embrace. Unable to bear the loneliness that had been weighing on her heart, the cruelty of the world, Zou Bei whispered softly, "Dad…were we wrong?"
One wrong word struck Zou Feng, causing him to suffer severe chest pain, as if a foot had been kicked straight into his heart, or perhaps it was a light kick, like a tiny thorn. The wound wasn't large, but the pain was excruciating, bit by bit. His back was covered in cold sweat, and he was filled with boundless fear.
Amidst the flashing lightning and thunder, Zou Feng abruptly turned Zou Bei around, making her face him, and with great difficulty, he managed to utter a few words: "What are you saying?" The bitterness in his eyes overwhelmed the expression a father should have. Was everything just now an illusion?
The air was eerily silent. A gust of wind blew in from the window, instantly chilling her to the bone. The noise drowned out Zou Bei's trembling lips. Her heart grew colder and colder, her pupils shrank into bottomless black holes, and her mind buzzed, repeating over and over, "Wrong... wrong... wrong..."
"What did I do wrong!" Zou Feng flung her away, his rage instantly shattering his composure. His once clear and dark pupils suddenly filled with gloom, layer upon layer, so fast it was alarming, like the dark clouds before a thunderstorm. "Say it again."
Zou Bei's face turned deathly pale, her whole body trembling uncontrollably. The oppressive threat pressed straight to her heart, and she gritted her teeth. "It's terribly wrong! Our relationship is so wrong, it goes against all societal norms!" After shouting, her throat felt sore and painful. Her emotions collapsed, and the first battle between the two erupted. The tightness in her chest made her speak recklessly. "You selfishly possessed me, you made me submit to your body, you threw me into the filthy abyss of society, with no redemption."
Weightless fingers, limp bones, weak to the point of transparency in the dim room, icy fingertips twitching nervously—what went wrong? What's wrong? Something else suddenly falls. Zou Feng approaches the crazed figure step by step, his eyes flickering, weak as candlelight scattering in the wind, his thin lips sharp and cold as a knife; "Are you trying to tell me I'm filthy? Are you trying to tell me I'm despicable? Are you trying to tell me I'm worse than a beast?"
Zou Bei had already bitten her lips until they bled, and she shook her head while mumbling incoherently, "No...no..." Was she stupid? She didn't understand. Those cold words were devouring her bones and blood. The person in front of her who was close to being enraged was no longer the familiar 'father'. In panic, Zou Bei turned around and wanted to run away.
Losing his mind, Zou Feng wouldn't allow her to escape. He quickly swept past her, pulling back the person trying to run away without hesitation and slamming her hard against the edge of the bed. His frantic actions gradually made him lose control. Ignoring her screams, Zou Feng knelt down, grabbed his daughter who was half hanging at the foot of the bed, and made her turn her head to look at him. His dry, stiff voice was devoid of emotion: "Where are you going?"
"Ah! I don't need your help, let go!" Zou Bei struggled fiercely, extremely aggrieved, her blurred vision filled with sorrow.
There is no such thing as forever in this world. The fleeting happiness was lost in this moment and no longer belonged to him... Zou Feng clenched his fists tightly, his bloodshot eyes completely devoid of heat. With a 'whoosh', the towel on Zou Bei's body, along with the sound of her clothes tearing, was crisp and loud. Her disheveled hair hung down to her chest, and goosebumps rose on her sensitive skin. "Don't care? I didn't let go before, and I'm even less likely to let go now."
"You're filthy! You're a beast! How could you do this to me!" Zou Bei struggled to break free from the man's hold, a violent wave of dizziness washing over her, making her feel increasingly slumped. Her nails dug into his skin as she gripped his arm, and she glared at him through gritted teeth. "I won't let this continue! I'm not your daughter, I don't know you! Get out! Get out! Get out!"
Zou Feng felt like he had fallen into an eternal ice cave. It wasn't that she was beyond redemption, but that he, or perhaps he should have foreseen this situation more than a decade ago. However, he had always firmly believed that his daughter couldn't live without him. Fate played a cruel joke, and in the end, he was the only one who couldn't escape this path. Zou Bei's resolute attitude felt like she was slowly torturing him piece by piece. His heart pounded, and he clenched his teeth, swallowing the bitter water churning on his tongue. How could he bear this resoluteness? How could he give up this love that was ingrained in his very being?
Releasing the struggling figure, Zou Feng closed his eyes tightly, kneeling helplessly to one side. Hot tears, tinged with coolness, slid down his cheeks. The room, filled with Zou Bei's heartbroken sobs, became heavy with sorrow. Deep in his moist, aching eyes, the desolate yellow of fallen autumn leaves lingered, infinitely cold.
