in the shape of twenty or thirty kittens. Lifting the cotton curtain and pushing open the door, a fragrant aroma greeted one. Inside,
in the center, was a small hall, separating the western bedroom from the eastern study. Instead of paintings or calligraphy, the hall
was adorned with thirty or fifty pink gauze lanterns, each shaped like a rabbit, cat, mouse, or sheep—exquisitely crafted, presumably
made by Baoqin herself. A small, elegant eight-immortal table held a tea tray. To the west was
a rather small bedroom, with a small bed against the wall. Even the mosquito net was pale yellow, with two snow-white cotton
ropes tying it to the side. Lifting the mosquito net, the bedding, neatly laid out by a maid, was revealed—pink satin
embroidered with colorful lotus patterns. Against the edge of the bed, there was another dressing table made of bamboo and jewels. The bronze mirror there was round and
clear, a truly exquisite piece. Ironically, the bamboo railing around the mirror

glass kang table for writing and painting, on which sat a nutwood chessboard, two boxes of chess pieces, a row of paper, brushes, ink, and inkstones
. A display shelf was also filled with little girl toys: piles of yarn flowers, nine-linked rings, two
cloth tigers, and an unfinished kite. The bookshelf against the wall was filled with rows of books, their contents indistinct
, and dozens of scrolls, their contents unclear. If the room's unique decor was like that of Baoqin, a
young girl, half childlike and playful, half ladylike and flirtatious, then coming to such a charming little bedroom of a close friend to indulge in
lewd pleasures and wanton defilement would be a delightful thing indeed.
Hongzhou, however, pinched Baoqin's body again and praised, "Indeed, this is a little girl's bedroom, so
exquisitely arranged, quite interesting, with a unique elegance."
While he praised the room, he pitied Baoqin. Despite being influenced by Li Wan and Baochai day and night, having actually been
brought to her own bedroom by her master to "play," she was still a young girl at heart, and inside she
