[Article Introduction]
"Next Life's Fate" is a short NTR martial arts novel I wrote for a writing contest on Spring Full Courtyard
. According to some readers' feedback, it is quite heart-wrenching.
Of course, when I finished reading it myself, I didn't feel that it was too heart-wrenching, so it
's a matter of opinion.
Since it's an NTR story, readers who are not interested can leave now.
The total word count is around 120,000. It is indeed a short story for martial arts, but
it is not a very short article according to the reading habits of today's readers. Please consider this before entering.
This story uses a perspective that switches between first person and third person, which was an experimental writing method for me at the time
. Therefore, you may feel uncomfortable while reading it. Please forgive me. The story begins with the male protagonist, Xu Laisheng, in his childhood, recounting his lifelong entanglement
with the sisters Xia Yuan and Xia Ling . Enjoy your reading! armageddon, January 12, 2016. The story unfolds in the sweltering summer heat. The sun, high in the sky, relentlessly beats down on the earth, its heat so intense that most people can barely escape it . A wisp of dust rises from the hard loess slope, accompanied by wisps of steaming heat, before quickly dissipating. I struggled to move my small arms, my legs pushing down with all my might. This low slope felt like an insurmountable mountain to me. Just as I felt my strength waning, and I could barely breathe, I had to stop to catch my breath . Suddenly, I felt light. A strong, powerful arm lifted me up and held me close to his chest. "Father!" I called out timidly, looking up at the man who was looking down at me with a frown. "Why did you come here? Didn't I tell Aunt Wang next door to watch over you?" Dad frowned and asked, " Where is Aunt Wang?" "Aunt Wang, she..." I started to say angrily, but stopped abruptly. The words Aunt Wang had just said flashed through my mind, and I changed my words, "I also wanted to see Mother..." I felt that Aunt Wang was a complete actress. Every time she took me from my father, she had a smile on her face, saying it was no trouble and that she would take good care of me, etc. But as soon as my father left, she would immediately gossip about him behind his back , saying that he did nothing all day, only knew how to drink, and was good-for-nothing. She even said just now that my mother was killed by my father. I couldn't bear it any longer, so I took advantage of the time when Aunt Wang casually left me and her child in the room and went to feed the chickens in the backyard to sneak out to find my father. Actually, I only vaguely understood what she was saying at first. It was just a child's intuition that made me feel that Aunt Wang's attitude towards Dad wasn't as consistent as it was in front of him. Until one time when Dad came to pick me up, I overheard Aunt Wang muttering to herself as she did housework with her back to the door. I saw Dad suddenly stop. His face was usually expressionless, but I saw a hint of pain in his eyes. That night, after returning home, Dad drank a lot. I sneaked out of bed and peeked from behind the door. I saw Dad crying and laughing, pointing angrily at the sky and cursing, "Damn you, God!" That was the first and only time in my memory that I saw Dad so out of control. Dad's eyes seemed to read my mind, and under his silent gaze, I involuntarily lowered my head. I heard him sigh softly, muttering to himself, "It's really hard on you... understanding human relationships at such a young age..." After saying this, Dad patted my head and added, "Well, you were too young to understand before, so I didn't tell you... It just so happens that today is your mother's death anniversary, so come and pay your respects." Dad often brought me along to keep Mom company, but every year there was one day he would come alone and stay until sunset before going home. Then he would cook me a bowl of noodles. He said it was my birthday, and I had to finish the noodles completely, leaving not a single crumb. Only after this did I understand that this day wasn't just my birthday, but also my mother's death anniversary. Actually, I was mostly confused about most of it at the time. However, those conversations remained in my memory... That day, I had just turned five. That day was also called Qixi Festival (Double Seventh Festival). ************* My name is Er Gouzi. My father's name was Xu Er, and I was his dog, so I was called Er Gouzi (Second Dog). My father said he was a cursed star, destined to kill all his relatives, so I couldn't be a "human," but had to be raised as a dog to deceive fate. Therefore, I wasn't called "Xu Er Gou" (Xu Second Dog), I couldn't even have a surname, just Er Gouzi. This was the answer I received when I asked him after I learned to read at the private school and realized my name wasn't good, even vulgar. From then on, I stopped caring about the other students' teasing about my name. Although I didn't care, I didn't like going to the private school anymore. But my father said I should at least be able to read, so I still had to go… However, I never played with those other children anymore, so deep down, I still cared, didn't I? In short, from then on, I became a loner in the private school. I had no friends. While my classmates gathered to play in the mud, play games, and fight with sticks and branches after class, I always watched alone. Every day, I went to the private school to study listlessly, and after finishing, I would silently go home alone. This went on for a year. I had no childhood friends, no childhood playmates. At that time, I only felt that the days were hard to endure, monotonous and boring . I didn't know when this kind of life would end, but I was also unaware that sometimes, monotony and boredom are a rare kind of happiness.

Until that day arrived…
I remember it clearly. That day was also Qixi Festival, my birthday, and the anniversary of my mother's death.
Ever since my father told me about my mother's death anniversary when I was five years old, every year on that anniversary, he would take me with
him instead of leaving me in the care of the neighbors, and go alone.
That day, my father and I got up early in the morning. My father busied himself preparing the offerings and food to take to my mother's grave, while I
sat on the ground by the doorstep waiting.
Suddenly, a deafening sound rang out, rapidly approaching from afar. My father had obviously heard the sound as well
. He rushed out of the house, glanced towards the village entrance, then scooped me up in his arms, looked around
, and then shoved me into the large earthenware jar used to collect swill to feed the pigs!
Ignoring my struggles and cries, he sternly instructed me not to make a sound no matter what happened,
and then closed the wooden lid. Through a tiny crack, I saw Father quickly enter the house. A moment later
, he emerged with a long sword, seemingly appearing out of nowhere, in his hand.
The moment Father stepped out, the thunderous roar reached the village,
accompanied by faint shouts of battle and wailing cries.
Father stood alone in the courtyard, then suddenly let out a long, clear, and resonant roar, its intensity subtly drowning out
the thunderous clatter of horses' hooves.
The long howl continued for a long time before gradually subsiding. Father spoke after the howl, his voice carrying far: "I wonder
which mountain bandits have come down to do business? Would you mind inviting the leader here for a chat?"
Accompanied by unrestrained laughter, several horses broke through the gate and entered the courtyard: "I never imagined that such a poor mountain village would harbor a friend from the martial arts world! I am Huang Kui, the second-in-command of Black Ghost Mountain, known in the martial arts world as 'Ghost -Slayer Huang Kui,' also
called the Two Fiends of Black Ghost Mountain. May I ask your name?" Father replied proudly, "Xu Er." He then frowned and said, "Black Ghost Mountain is a hundred miles from here. Why would you come to such a remote and impoverished village to do business?" Huang Kui pondered for a moment, seemingly unable to recall the name "Xu Er" or anything related to him in the martial arts world. Seeing the events of the alliance and noticing that his father was alone, his caution gradually subsided, and he said nonchalantly, "You don't need to worry about that. I see your skills are decent, so I'll give you a chance to serve our stronghold!" His father shook his head and replied, "I appreciate the Second Master's kindness." After a moment's thought, he added, "What business the Second Master is doing here is truly none of my concern, but I beg you to be lenient and let the business proceed as planned, but please spare the innocent civilians in this village. How about that?" The Second Master coldly snorted, "I was going to spare your life, but you don't know what's good for you. This operation must be carried out to eliminate all witnesses ! Since you are unwilling to join..." Before he could finish speaking, the Second Master waved his hand, and several silver flashes appeared. It turned out that his father, seeing that things had come to this point, had seized the opportunity before the Second Master gave the order and struck first! I had no idea that my father knew martial arts, and was so skilled at it. Before the second-in-command could even react, the guards beside him only managed a muffled groan before their heads were severed! With the sudden appearance and disappearance of the silver light, several heads spewed upwards, blood gushing from their necks. The second-in-command only felt a chill on his neck, and a powerful force pulled him off his horse. When he came to his senses, a cold blade was already pressed against his neck , and the two guards beside him had already fallen. A look of horror suddenly appeared on the second-in-command's face: "You...you...Phantom Movement Technique, Deadly Sword, you...you're from the 'Deadly Killing Pavilion'!" He then suddenly remembered his father's name: "Second...could you be... the ace assassin of the Deadly Killing Pavilion, known as 'Jade-Faced Gentleman,' also called 'Erlang Shen'?" Seeing that his father neither confirmed nor denied it, the second-in-command was certain of his guess, his face pale as he murmured , "The former number one assassin of the Deadly Killing Pavilion, I never imagined he'd be hiding in this small village...Rumors say you have a refined and handsome appearance, a slender figure like a scholar, and seeing you today, it's truly so. My elder brother often..." " You said my biggest flaw is my inability to recognize the enemy. I often judge people by their appearance and lose my caution. I'm sure I'll suffer the consequences of my carelessness one day. How true!" Father sensed something was wrong in the second-in-command's tone and frowned. "Enough nonsense! If you want to live, gather your men and leave the village. Once I've evacuated the villagers, I'll let you go." The second-in-command gave a bitter yet resolute dry laugh: "If I could, I really want to live! But if I do as you say, not only my elder brother and I, but all the brothers in Black Ghost Village will die, and even our relatives will be buried with us..." "Surround and kill, massacre the village." With the second-in-command's last four words to his men, his head flew off in the next moment. Inspired by the second-in-command's fearless actions, the gang members who received the order launched a communication firework into the air. The remaining dozen or so members, their eyes red with fury, rushed towards Father. Several people outside the door simultaneously shouted for reinforcements and then rushed in as well! Father gripped his sword tightly, glanced discreetly at my hiding place, then turned away. His sword vanished, replaced by flashes of silver light that left a trail of blood. In an instant, he led the crowd out the door and disappeared from my sight. That was the last time I saw Father. I was seven years old that year. After that day, I became an orphan. ********** ...
