Emotional entanglement

I finally convinced my wife, but she's only verbally agreed. She still won't accept a passionate video chat online, though we've taken photos.
These aren't my main concerns. The real issue is that the moment I convinced her, she asked me for money. I'm still a bit frustrated. How come things are so different from how I felt initially? Am I still just having a purely emotional connection?
I want everyone to help me analyze what's wrong with my wife. Was my initial understanding of her too superficial?
