How to make friendships last?

When it comes to dating, couples have long abandoned one-night stands. It feels wasteful to go through so much effort to meet, screen, and communicate, only to have it end in a single meeting. It's a waste of time and emotion. Meeting each other is fate, and if we could put a time limit on that fate, we'd hope it would be lifelong friendship.
However, I think maintaining long-term relationships is actually quite difficult. If the relationship is purely based on exchange, it will inevitably grow distant over time. Simple relationships are hard to sustain long-term. Classmate relationships, if just classmates with no regular contact, will inevitably fade over time. Colleague relationships, if there's no interaction outside of work, will never become friends. The same goes for friends made in society; if they're only met for a specific purpose and there are no other intertwined relationships, they won't last.
We often have close relationships with people we have multiple connections with, relationships involving overlapping roles, or connections within our social networks. Compared to simple relationships, we find it easier to build connections with people we interact with in our social lives—for example, children attending the same school or occasionally training for a marathon together. When we make friends in multiple contexts, the relationship develops deeper and richer, giving rise to a higher level of affection, and the relationship can remain close and long-lasting.
The same applies to friendships between spouses; if it is limited to sexual exchange, it will not last. If the two families establish relationships in multiple ways, they will surely enjoy harmony and happiness.
