I hate the phrase, "Can't you be a little more sensible?" From childhood, I've always been praised by my elders for being "sensible," and I would try my best to be even more sensible, to please everyone and be liked.

But as I grew older, the more sensible I became, the less I had my own temper and edges, and even less of my own strong desires and preferences.

Later, I realized that being sensible was both a prison and a shackle; it imprisoned the little wild beast within me.
