[Stealing, dating]

"I've booked a room for you, H Hotel... I might really not be able to see you. I feel so guilty; you've come to my city, but I can't see you,"

Good Man Y said on QQ.

"Actually, it's not necessary... but it's nice to feel your presence, thank you."

"Do you miss me?"

"If saying yes would make it difficult for you to see me, then I don't."

"I'll see, let's see if we can find a chance to meet... What time will you arrive?"

"8 o'clock."

"Then... there's a show at the G Performing Arts Hall at 9 o'clock. If you can go there, maybe I can catch a glimpse of you from afar."

"Is it far? Are you sure you'll go?"

"Not far, I can just ask a taxi driver... If you can go, I'll definitely find a way to go."

"Okay, I'll go."

It was my first time in S City. All along the way, I tried to distinguish whether it was closer to the north or south by the types of trees, imagining the difference between winter here and in Beijing, Shenzhen, or Shaanxi... and even picturing the feeling of passing someone very close without disturbing them... but it seemed unlikely. Good Man Y probably wouldn't want to give himself a reason for my ridicule.

A glimpse from afar... ha, isn't that all I can do? Y will bring her, and he will be by my side.

This area of the city is too bustling and new, with vast squares, shopping malls with huge electronic screens, layers of neon lights, and noisy traffic and crowds... The H Hotel stands prominently on one side of the square, like a majestic man, looking down on everything.

When I stepped onto the soft carpet in the bedroom and looked into the living room, I was enveloped by a solid sense of happiness... a five-star suite... his arrangements were indeed meticulous.

I took a shower, ate dinner, and then took a taxi to the G Performing Arts Hall.

In a corner of S City at night, there was an unfamiliar smell of any unfamiliar city. Although my eyes lingered on the scenery outside the window, my mind was a chaotic mess of confusion.

When I entered the G Performing Arts Hall, it was almost full, the lighting was dim, and it was a bit noisy. I found a spot near the aisle... trying to figure out if he had arrived or where he was, but it suddenly became quite difficult... everywhere I looked were backs, and the light was dim.

"Alright, let's sit down, watch the show, and then go back to sleep. At least I've experienced his presence up close... Don't force things."

These kinds of performance halls are noisy, with third-rate hosts and actors, plus some local bawdy jokes, songs, and dances—that's pretty much it... But if you can truly let go of everything and immerse yourself in it, shouting and yelling for a while, it's a good release. People sometimes need that.

After sitting down, I gave up hope of finding Y, and I couldn't expect him to suddenly see me from the sea of people... A chance encounter in a crowd, how easy is that? I silently picked up my cup and took a sip of jasmine tea.

My eyes were blank as I watched the stage... Suddenly... it really was sudden, I saw a pair of eyes meet mine at the closest point! Good heavens! Y was right in front of me, and the moment he turned around, his breath almost touched my face... Such overwhelming astonishment! So astonished that I couldn't even grasp the surprise amidst the chaos!

How could this be?

So many people, a densely packed hall... how could this be? He was right next to me?

What guided us to meet like this?

After a moment of surprise, he quickly turned around… I could imagine a little deer running across my chest, or that deer flitting back and forth between us… I couldn't help but touch my chest, thinking: I was terrified.

Looking at him again—a pale yellow T-shirt, and next to him, his girlfriend, in a dark short skirt, with wavy medium-length hair… His right hand reached behind his back across the chair, making a loose, half-embracing gesture. Occasionally, he would lean close to her ear and speak loudly… It was too noisy inside.

This distance was too dangerous.

I was afraid his girlfriend would suddenly see me, recognize me, and then gasp… I didn't intend to disturb her this time.

So I made an excuse to sit near the aisle, where it would be easy to bump into the staff, and moved a few seats back with him.

I watched him from afar, his back to me, and a smile crept across my face… This whole thing had suddenly become quite amusing… In this faraway city, we'd planned our encounter just to catch a glimpse of each other from afar, only to feel lost in the crowd. Then, fate arranged for us to meet so closely… At that moment, looking at him, I couldn't help but marvel at the magic of destiny, how it always manages to create such wonderful moments.

A little while later, I saw him turn around, looking around anxiously… Ah, Y was looking for me, his heart pounding… He looked around, then disappointedly looked away… I spotted him in a corner, between a few figures. So how could he see me… Seeing his anxiety, a smile bloomed in my heart.

A short while later, I saw his girlfriend get up to go to the restroom. I quickly turned away, and as she passed by, I saw him again, almost standing up, searching for me in the crowd… After she sat down again, he stood up once more… Finally, finally, as he passed by me, I gave him a brave yet mischievous smile—he saw me!

Soon, I went to the restroom too, and only at the door did I truly see him.

I took his hand, and he looked around nervously.

Later, he pulled me up to the second floor, and at the bottom of the stairs, he gave me a tense but very tight hug. Just as I hesitated whether to kiss him, he quickly pushed me away and said, "Go back to your seat first, I'll text you."

Ha. Cautious men are interesting too.

Back in my seat, I texted Y, guessing he was hiding in the restroom, too afraid to come out... I was secretly worried for him; who goes to the restroom for that long...

Finally, he passed by me and returned to his seat.

I watched Y from afar again, this cautious, affectionate, and repressed man.

My heart was overflowing with happiness, like golden leaves carpeting the road in autumn, a thick layer.

Ha, finally I saw him, even better than seeing him from afar. The hug was hurried and simple, yet very powerful; I liked it.

S City, finally, in his city, I had a meeting with him.
