Qian, a resident of Shizi Town, Yanjin County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, married Xiu, a woman from the same village, in 2002 through a relative's introduction. They had two daughters and were a happy family of four. As their daughters grew older, no one could have predicted that the family would fall apart due to superstitious beliefs.
Starting in 2012, Qian's desire to have a son to continue his family line grew increasingly urgent. Despite having undergone sterilization and a failed reversal surgery, rendering him infertile, Qian "generously" suggested to his wife that she date a married man from a neighboring village. Mr. Qian told his wife, "As long as you give me a son, you can get along with him however you want; I won't mind."
Thus, from 2013 to 2016, Mr. Qian tacitly allowed his wife to cohabit with another man and have children. He consistently acted as the father, obtaining birth certificates and buying formula for the later-born children, fulfilling his role as a dutiful father.
In 2016, after Ms. Xiu had three daughters with another man, Mr. Qian, who desperately wanted a son, was utterly disappointed. He refused to support the three daughters Ms. Xiu had with a man from a neighboring village, leaving Ms. Xiu to rely on charity to raise the three girls.
Recently, Ms. Xiu sued her husband, Mr. Qian, in the Shizi Court of Yanjin County, seeking a divorce. After hearing the case, the court held that Ms. Xiu's extramarital affair, cohabitation with another man, and having children during the marriage were serious violations of the law. The actions of Mr. Qian and Ms. Xiu directly led to the demise of their marriage, rendering the marriage meaningless.
Therefore, based on the opinions of both parties, the court ruled in the first instance: the divorce was granted; the two daughters born to the plaintiff and defendant together would be raised by Qian, and the three daughters born to Xiu by Xiu with another person would be raised by Xiu; neither party would pay child support. After the judgment took effect, neither party appealed, and this farce of "borrowing sperm to have a child" came to an end.
