Forbidden Blood Love (1)

The Boeing 787, like a giant bird, began its slow descent to the ground. An announcement in both Chinese and English filled the cabin: "Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to arrive at our destination, Qingdao, China..."

Looking at the land below the window, memories flooded my mind.

I have a half-sister, two and a half years older than me. Her father died in a mining accident shortly after her birth. Later, my mother married my father and gave birth to me.

My father was born into wealth; my grandfather was among the first to become rich after the reform and opening up in the early 1980s. He wanted my father to marry the daughter of an official, but my father fell in love with a widow with a child, and was kicked out of the house by my grandfather.

Despite their poverty, my father worked hard to support the family and treated my sister as his own. The family was warm and happy.

But this happiness was short-lived. When I was nine years old, my father died in a car accident, leaving my mother, my sister, and me as orphans.

After my father passed away, my grandfather wanted me to return to my in-laws' home to acknowledge my ancestral roots.

He was heartbroken when he kicked my father out of the house, but both father and son were stubborn and neither would back down, leading to a stalemate until my father's car accident. My grandfather was deeply saddened and wanted me to return to my in-laws' home. My eldest uncle, acting on my grandfather's orders, came to find my mother. My mother was reluctant to be separated from her son, but considering my future, she agreed to my uncle's request. However, I absolutely refused to be separated from my mother and sister. So, my uncle proposed a compromise:

my mother and sister could live with me at my in-laws' home. I never imagined that after my mother and sister arrived, they would be treated like servants by my grandmother, my aunt, and my other aunt. Not only them, but even some of the older servants treated my mother and sister like servants. Although I was very dissatisfied and tried to stand up for them, I was too weak to change their status in the family.

My grandfather and uncle are always busy and rarely home. I've complained to them about my grandmother and her two sisters, and they've warned them. But those three women only slightly restrain themselves before reverting to their old ways.

My mother always tells me, "It's okay, Zhenhao, Mom and your sister are fine. As long as you can stay peacefully at your in-laws' house, Mom and your sister will be happy." Whenever this happens, all I can do is fill my eyes with tears and clench my fists.

Once, my grandmother and aunt took my cousin and me shopping. It was evening, and as I got out of the car, I saw my mother and sister sitting on small stools around a small table in the bungalow where the servants ate.

My sister looked up, smiled sweetly at me, and then went back to eating. In that instant, I felt like I was from two different worlds. I really wanted to rush in and pull them into my world, or stay in theirs. But my grandmother pulled me away.

I have a cousin, four years older than me and less than two years older than my sister. He's the only person in my in-laws' family who treats my mom and sister well, especially my sister. But he's only thirteen, and his influence on improving their status in the family is negligible.

One day, my cousin accused my sister of stealing her birthday present. My grandma and aunt, without any investigation, immediately accused my sister of theft. Although my cousin's help proved my sister's innocence, my mom knew she and my sister could no longer stay in that family.

That afternoon, a heavy rain fell. My mom and sister, carrying umbrellas and luggage, stepped out of the in-laws' house through a small door on the large iron gate. I chased after them, insisting on going with them. My mom, in desperation, hit and scolded me, trying to drive me back through the iron gate, but I refused to go back.

In the pouring rain, my mother, my daughter, and my brother and sister hugged each other and wept.

Time flies. Seven years later, I was in my first year of high school, and my sister was in her final year. I had grown into a handsome young man, and my sister had blossomed into a beautiful young woman. During those seven years, I never set foot in my future in-laws' home again, living with my mother and sister. Although we were poor, we were happy and content.

My sister and I attended the same middle school. We lived in a small town on the edge of the city, a place of beautiful green hills and clear waters. Every day, I would ride my bicycle with my sister to and from school, a round trip of over thirty miles.

My mother always said that once we saved enough money, we would buy another bicycle so that I wouldn't always have to carry my sister and get tired. I said I wasn't tired at all; I was willing to carry my sister for the rest of my life.

One day, on our way home from school, I was pushing my bicycle with my sister along a country lane, with rolling wheat fields on both sides and distant green mountains stretching into the distance.

"Zhenhao, have you ever thought about going back to your future in-laws' home someday?" my sister asked suddenly, looking at the distant mountains.

I asked her why she was asking this again. Over the years, she and my mother had brought this up more than once.

My sister turned her gaze away from the distance and said softly, "Mom said you should go back to your in-laws' house."

"Sister, are you and Mom... annoyed with me?" I asked.

"No way," she pouted. "Mom just said you're ultimately a descendant of the Yue family, with Yue family blood flowing in your veins, you should go back. Besides, it's better for your future."

I grew anxious and stopped, saying, "Sister, after all these years, don't you and Mom understand my feelings? Ever since that afternoon seven years ago, when the three of us walked out of the Yue family's gate, I've closed that door in my heart to them..."

I paused, then continued, "That's not my home at all. Home is where you and Mom are. If I don't even want my home, what's the point of having a future?" "

Zhenhao, is that really what you think?" My sister looked at me, a look of joy in her eyes. I knew she actually didn't want me to leave.

I nodded earnestly, and she smiled sweetly at me. I looked around and saw a big tree in the distance. I took my sister's hand. "Sister, come with me."

We arrived at the big tree. I found a hard, sharp stone, peeled off a piece of bark, and carved a line of words on the bare trunk—"Yue Zhenhao, Han Feiyan, never to be separated.

" I threw away the stone, smiled at my sister, and she smiled back. Then, I carried her on my back, riding in the afterglow of the setting sun.

Half a month later, my uncle suddenly came to our house from out of town. He was my mother's half-brother, and he hadn't contacted us for almost ten years since my maternal grandfather passed away.

My uncle also brought my cousin Zhuang Xiaoqiao, whom my sister and I had never met before. She was nine years old that year.

My uncle was a compulsive gambler, and he had lost everything, and his wife had run off with someone else. He came to entrust my cousin Zhuang Xiaoqiao to my mother's care for a while, as he was going to do business in the south with a friend. He

said, "Sister, as soon as I earn money, I'll send it to you. Once I've settled down over there, I'll come back to pick up Xiaoqiao."

My mom said, "Don't worry about the money. As long as you're doing well out there, that's more important than anything. Don't worry about Xiao Qiao, I'll take good care of her."

Then my mom told my uncle to stop gambling and focus on his business. My uncle swore he would never gamble again, and before leaving, he borrowed some money from my mom, claiming he needed capital for his business.

My sister and I privately advised my mom to be wary of my uncle, not to let him cheat her. But my mom said that my uncle was still her own brother, and besides, he had realized his mistakes and started to walk the right path. So, my mom took out her meager, but almost all, savings and gave it to my uncle.

She never imagined that my uncle would abandon Xiao Qiao to her, take her money, and disappear without a trace, making our already poor family even worse off.

That evening, it was drizzling, and Xiao Qiao was missing. The three of us searched anxiously everywhere and finally found her at the town's bus stop.

The day my uncle left, we brought Xiaoqiao here to see him off. So, Xiaoqiao, longing for her father, came to the bus stop alone, hoping to see him get off the bus she so desperately wanted. But bus after bus came and went, and she was disappointed time and time again. Tears streamed down her rain-soaked face.

After we took Xiaoqiao home, my mother wiped the rain from her head with a towel, scolding her for running off alone. What if she got kidnapped?

"Mom..." At this call, Xiaoqiao, who had been silent with her head down, suddenly looked up. My mother looked at her in surprise. "

Auntie, can I call you Mom?" Xiaoqiao asked pitifully.

My mother burst into tears, hugged Xiaoqiao tightly, and choked out, "Yes, of course."

From then on, Xiaoqiao went from being my mother's niece to her adopted daughter, and my sister and I gained a little sister.
