Is this kind of relationship worth continuing?

Six and a half years ago, when I started dating my boyfriend, I moved to Changsha, the city where he lived, for easier meetings. We became a couple, and at the end of 2012, he proposed and we planned to get married. In New Year's Day 2013, he went to Zhuhai to meet with classmates. Upon his return, he told me that his classmates said being together would be too stressful. Hearing this, I felt like I'd fallen into an ice cave. In April 2013, he told me again that his family—his mother and daughter—said our zodiac signs were incompatible, and they worried I would bring him misfortune if we were together. Heartbroken, I told him I would move to another city for work soon. I offered my perspective on both issues, but he didn't respond. A few months later, I went to work in Hangzhou. Given this situation—fearing pressure and potential misfortune—I figured I could at least stay away from him. But since then, he's been trying to meet me in different cities, and he still hasn't done so. Even when I applied for a job transfer to Wuhan, I didn't apply to go to Changsha. Was I right to do this?
