I need advice on shaving my wife's pubic hair.

I've shaved my wife's pubic hair twice before. The first time was fine. But the hair kept getting coarser after shaving. The second time, when it grew back about half a centimeter, it was thick and coarse, like sandpaper, making it painful to walk on. Sexual intercourse was especially painful. What methods do you all use to remove your wives' pubic hair?
