Now, she is simply trapped inside the golden cage that Duan Yanqi personally crafted.
She was the kept canary, fulfilling his constant need for song. But in the dead of night, only she knew that every note was a lament of blood.
"How long do you intend to keep me locked up?"
At this moment, she sat quietly in front of the floor-to-ceiling window. The warm spring sun shone through the white gauze and bathed her in its warmth, while the wind from the 30th floor ruffled her long black hair.
Looking up at the sky, Wang You, bathed in sunlight, resembled an angel fallen to earth, poised to take flight.
Duan Yanqi was startled. He put down the documents in his hand, rushed forward, and hugged her tightly.
Wang You didn't struggle; she simply closed her eyes.
"Let me go." That was the only thing she could still say.
"No! Absolutely not!" Duan Yanqi released Wang You as if he were startled, but immediately pulled her back into his arms.
Wang You forced a knowing, bitter smile. She had known all along that he wouldn't let her go; if he were going to let her go, he wouldn't have imprisoned her here in the first place.
Silently, she pried his hands away, letting Wang You escape his embrace and sit quietly on the sofa. Looking at the pile of documents on his table, she simply closed her eyes and leaned against the sofa, feigning sleep.
Duan Yanqi then sat back down on the sofa, staring blankly at the person next to him.
At this moment, Wang You closed his eyes, seemingly shutting everything out, including himself.
He gave her the best of everything; aside from communication tools, he sent her back everything else he could. Clothes, jewelry, cosmetics, and even knowing she liked reading all kinds of books, he found some of his rarer collections.
Unfortunately, aside from occasionally glancing at books, she simply discarded the rest in a corner.
"Oh, right! The latest clothing catalog has arrived. Take a look and see if there's anything you like." Duan Yanqi pulled out the spring/summer clothing catalog that had been delivered by a special person from the files.

Duan Yanqi was taken aback, clenched his fists, but said nothing more.
"Why don't you ask me what I want?" Wang You pressed him with each question, seemingly pleased to see him like this.
He remained silent, his head bowed.
"Heh, what, you know what I want now?" He stood up and walked to the window. "All I want is freedom. What use is anything else without freedom!"
There was no sound behind him except for heavy breathing.
Wang You desperately wanted to know if her family was looking for her at that moment, and what Ruofeng was doing.
However, given her feelings for Duan Yanqi, he would definitely do everything he could to make sure no one could find her!
There was no news of his disappearance on television each day. The only news was that the marriage between the Duan and Mo families had been postponed because the engaged couple planned to go on vacation first!

Wang You snapped out of her daze, looked up at Duan Yanqi, and then resumed her cold demeanor.
"Yes, you are Duan Yanqi, Ruofeng's father. But you've taken me for yourself and forced your own son's girlfriend into your life. Don't you feel any pain? I thought you were so cold-blooded that you didn't even care about family ties anymore."
This was all her hatred, all her resentment at being imprisoned by him! She had no freedom, and she even had a relationship with him!
"Enough! Stop talking! Enough!" Releasing Wang You, Duan Yanqi retreated step by step.
"That's not enough. You know what? There's only one person in my heart. Guess who that person is..." Wang You seemed oblivious to everything, smiling absentmindedly.
"I don't want to hear it! I don't want to know!"
Duan Yanqi could no longer bear it, and he didn't want to know the answer he already knew! He rushed out the door and slammed the iron gate shut.
The sound slowly brought Wang You back to her senses, and life returned to her eyes. Looking in the direction Duan Yanqi had disappeared, she smiled.
She did it on purpose! She wanted him to leave!
Being imprisoned here and deprived of her freedom, she could accept that. But being in the same room with him was something she simply couldn't accept!
Leaning against the French windows once more, Wang You closed her eyes, hoping only to find a way to leave this place.
Duan Yanqi left in a disheveled state; he didn't want to see Wang You's longing expression again. Because that wasn't for him; her longing and love were only for that similar face!
Suddenly, his cell phone rang. Duan Yanqi answered only a few words, his expression turning somewhat grim.
He hung up the phone almost immediately, hurriedly went downstairs to get his car, and left.
