The night before parting

"Sigh! You eat first."
Since it was the third time, she abbreviated my name to just a "sigh." She swayed her hips as she walked into the bathroom. A moment later, the soft humming of "tinkling water, tinkling water" came from the bathroom.
"Let me help you!" I asked, sitting at the dining table and facing the bathroom door.
"No need! Hehe, I'm afraid you'll do something naughty, and I'm not used to it!" She answered decisively, but her tone was gentle.
Hearing the whooshing sound of water, my heart skipped a beat. I pushed open the bathroom door and took a step, but she laughed and pushed me out.
"Okay! I won't bother you anymore." I said, sitting back down at the dining table.
"Sigh! Go to the bedroom and find me some underwear."
"Didn't I just change them yesterday?"
"You have the nerve to say that! If you weren't naughty, would they get dirty?" she scolded playfully.
"There's no one else here, so don't wear them. Haha, I want to see through the fog!"
"You're so naughty." Her silvery laughter came from the bathroom.
A moment later, she emerged from the bathroom. Her face was rosy, her long hair flowing down her head, and her purple nightgown clearly outlined the curves of her body, making her appear even more fair and voluptuous.
"A picture of a concubine emerging from her bath, so beautiful!"
"Oh! You're being too kind! Hehe, don't try to fool me." She gracefully approached the dining table. However, after sitting down, she let out a soft "Oh."
"Sitting like this feels a bit strange!" She smiled shyly.

"You drink! I don't drink." She pushed the glass towards me.
"What staff member doesn't drink? You should have a little, it's no fun drinking alone." I stopped her hand.
"I can't do anything with you, I'll only have one, just to keep you company!" She coughed and took the glass.
The wall lamps were turned off, and the ceiling light was adjusted to a candlelight level. The surrounding light was dim, except for the area around the dining table, which had a warm, yellowish glow. We sat facing each other, her chin resting on her hand, her head slightly tilted. We gazed at each other occasionally, then sipped our drinks slowly.
"We've gotten to this point mainly because of me. What do you think now?"
She was a language arts teacher, and conversation was her forte. After a slight pause, a string of pleasant, moving words flowed from her lips, reaching my ears.
"Don't take all the blame; I'm partly responsible too." She took a deep breath, trying to calm her excited emotions, and remained silent for a moment.
"People who study literature are often imaginative and have rich, delicate emotions. He's often away from home, and I need love too! You won't laugh at me, will you?" She smiled slightly, her eyes and brows radiating tenderness.
"How could I laugh at you? It's perfectly normal!" I glanced at her and continued my topic.
“Empress Wu Zetian kept male concubines even in her sixties! Not to mention the distant past, there are still male escorts now! Haha, even your education system has its share of scandals. People! Once you let go, you have no psychological burden.” Her still-charming beauty stirred my emotions.

“Thank you!” Her eyes reddened. She turned her head and dabbed her moist eyes with a tissue, wiping away the tears.
“Heh, don't make me cry! Tell me something funny.” She wanted to quickly change the subject and liven up the conversation. I lowered my head to think for a moment, then looked up at her with a mischievous smile.
“What do you want to hear? Haha, I have all kinds here, both risqué and risqué!” I laughed and patted my stomach. My strange behavior made her burst out laughing. She waved at me, signaling me to hurry up and tell her. Seeing that she was interested, I also became humorous. I told her three jokes in a row, and with the last one, she laughed so hard she spat her drink on the floor.
We ate for over two hours. We cleared the table and washed the dishes together, without saying another word. She only occasionally gave me a slight smile. I didn't know what she was thinking, but my heart was filled with mixed emotions. Her husband was coming back tomorrow, and I didn't know if there was a future for us, or if she could still live like before. Stepping out of the kitchen, a heavy, almost sorrowful feeling enveloped us, and the playful expression was gone from our faces.
"He's coming back tomorrow, and I'm going to love you properly tonight!" I said, gazing into her eyes, each word distinct.
She murmured "Mmm," and nestled close to me. "I'll also make sure you remember me forever, remember this night."
I then led her into their bedroom, beginning to fulfill our promise…
