[Fantasy] Sun Wukong's Seven-Day Holiday (Complete) - Chapter 40 (End)

Chapter 375 Major Discovery

Hearing from Wukong that the mastermind behind the attack on Yang's father was none other than Deputy Director Liu, whom Yang Ru had previously exposed, Yang Ru was startled and asked, "Wukong, you suspect it was Liu who did it? Do you have any leads?"

"Yes. Because the information online about Liu's corruption and bribery was very likely uploaded by Situ Yu. Together with her, we searched Liu's house and found over ten million yuan in cash, and more than ten bankbooks with deposits exceeding two hundred million yuan. Xiaoyu took pictures of everything as souvenirs. The information online is very likely from her. I'll call her and ask." Wukong took out his phone and called Situ Yu.

"Wukong, why are you only calling me now? Where are you now? Have you found Yang Ru?" Before Wukong could even ask her anything, Situ Yu had already bombarded him with questions. Wukong smiled and said, "I'm in a hospital in Aolai Kingdom now. Yang Ru has been found."

"Really? Yang Ru has been found? That's great! In the hospital? Is Yang Ru sick? Is it serious?"

"Oh dear, why do you keep asking so many questions? You're becoming a problem child. It's not that Yang Ru is sick, it's that her father was beaten up and is still in bed. I suspect it was ordered by that official surnamed Liu. I want to verify if you posted the photos of the cash and bankbooks we took online?" Wukong asked.

"Yes, is there a problem? I posted the photos on my blog two days ago, and I didn't expect it to cause such a sensation. There were so many comments, and the clicks exceeded ten million in two days. Hehe, it's really unexpected. That Liu guy became an internet celebrity overnight, hee hee~" Situ Yu said with a grin.

"That's right. It was your post that got that official surnamed Liu suspended from his duties for investigation. He probably took his anger out on Yang Ru and had her father beaten up. That beastly guy is truly despicable," Wukong said with a snort. "

Really? Then didn't I indirectly implicate Yang Ru? Is she with you? I want to talk to her for a bit," Situ Yu said. Wukong handed the phone to Yang Ru and said, "Xiao Ru, Situ Yu wants to talk to you for a bit."

The two women talked for a long time on the phone. Situ Yu was genuinely happy for Yang Ru's regained freedom, but also felt guilty about the terrible treatment her father had suffered: "I'm sorry, Xiao Ru, I uploaded the information online. I didn't expect it to implicate your father."

"It's not your fault. If I had this evidence, I would have done the same. That Liu guy's behavior is outrageous and he will be punished by heaven sooner or later. You don't need to blame yourself. I support your actions," Yang Ru comforted Situ Yu in return.

“The internet is still very powerful. After this incident was exposed, I heard that the Aolai police will hold a press conference tomorrow to announce the results of their investigation. If the police don't protect their own, the photos I released will be enough to convict him. It seems that Liu's good days won't last long; he may spend the rest of his life in prison,” Situ Yu said with relief.

“Maybe. However, things are always unpredictable, and the results are often unexpected. I've been a journalist for a while now and have seen many unfair things, so I'm not so optimistic about how this matter will be handled. After all, Liu is a high-ranking official in the police station, and behind him are many sensitive nerves. One move can have far-reaching consequences. I think the investigation results announced at tomorrow's press conference may surprise you and me,” Yang Ru said dejectedly. Her father's injuries prevented her from being excited, although the suspension of Deputy Director Liu for investigation was indeed good news.

After lying quietly on the hospital bed for a while, Yang's father gradually calmed down. He opened his eyes again, listening to Yang Ru on the phone. Only after she hung up did he look away from her and say to his wife sitting by the bedside, "I'm badly injured this time. My head has been spinning all day, and my thinking isn't as clear as usual. I think I hurt my head. What did the doctor say? Is it serious?"

"Oh, the doctor said it's nothing serious. He'll recover in ten days or so with rest. Don't worry," Yang's mother comforted him softly. However, the fleeting worry on her face didn't escape Wukong's eyes. Wukong knew she was hiding the extent of Yang's father's injury; perhaps it was much more serious than she described.

Yang's father didn't suspect anything. He smiled and said, "That's good. I also want to be discharged and go home as soon as possible. I can't sleep soundly in the hospital." Wukong could tell that Yang's father had a strong desire to recover and go home quickly. He probably didn't even have the patience to stay in the hospital for another day and couldn't wait to go home.

“Maybe getting up and moving around will help your recovery. Come on, let me help you sit up. If it’s not too serious, you can even try walking around.” Wukong said, trying to help him sit up.

“No, no, Wukong, he can’t sit up.” Yang’s mother hurriedly came over to stop him.

“Why not? More exercise is very beneficial for recovery.” Wukong said. Yang’s mother kept winking at Wukong and whispered in his ear, “He has a moderate concussion. The doctor advised that he can’t walk around for a month.” Although Yang’s father couldn’t hear what his wife was saying to Wukong, he realized that his injury might not be so simple, so he frowned and said, “What are you doing so mysteriously? Are you hiding your condition from me? Don’t hide it from me, just tell me what’s going on. I can handle it.”

“No, there’s nothing I’m hiding from you. I just said a few words to Wukong.”

“Hmph, you still want to hide it from me even now? You won’t tell me, is that it? You don’t want me to sit up, do you? Then I’ll get up and sit up anyway.” Yang’s father’s stubbornness flared up, and he struggled to sit up. Taking advantage of the situation, Wukong went over and supported his body. A warm and gentle internal energy flowed from Wukong's hand into Yang's father's entire body. In an instant, Yang's father felt completely refreshed and full of energy, as if all

his ailments had vanished. Yang's mother, having finished eating, was about to go over to stop him from sitting up when Yang's father sat up straight, stretched his arms a few times, shook his head a few times, and said happily, "Oh dear, I feel perfectly fine! My hands and feet are quite nimble. Look, I can move around freely! I think those people were just exaggerating. I feel perfectly normal." As he spoke, he stretched out his legs and took a few steady steps, saying joyfully, "Look, I can sit, I can walk, and I can even exercise!"

Then, Yang's father actually did twenty push-ups on the ground, looking relaxed and not even out of breath.

Yang Ru and her mother were utterly astonished, especially Yang's mother, whose eyes were wide open as if witnessing the birth of a world miracle. After a long, long time, she said to Yang Ru with a hint of disbelief, "Xiao Ru, is your father experiencing a final burst of energy before death?"

"Pah! You old woman, you're really bringing bad luck! How could I, a perfectly healthy person, be experiencing a final burst of energy before death? Hurry up and spit out something nice again!" Yang's father's voice was full of vigor, not at all like someone who was bedridden and recuperating. Yang's mother, finally snapping out of her shock, clasped her hands together in gratitude: "God, Jade Emperor, Guanyin Bodhisattva, I thank you so much!"

After thanking the gods, she said joyfully, "It's truly divine protection that you've recovered so quickly. I was worried you'd have to stay in the hospital for so long. The doctor said there was blood in your brain and you needed daily injections and medication to slowly clear it. I never imagined such a medical miracle would happen."

Just then, the attending physician came to make rounds and saw Yang's father, his head bandaged, jumping around in the room. Thinking he had entered the wrong room, he quickly went back to check the room number. Finding it correct, he hurried back into the room and said to Yang's father, "Are you a patient? There's still a blood clot in your brain. It needs to be slowly cleared. Don't move around too much. Go back to bed!"

"Why do I need to go back to bed? I'm fine now. I can be discharged soon. Please help me with the discharge procedures," Yang's father said to the doctor.

It's possible his condition has worsened, causing neurological disorders. However, he injured his head; logically, this should cause dizziness, weakness in the limbs, and lethargy. It's unlikely he could even sit up, let alone get out of bed. What's going on? Never mind, let's get the patient back to bed. "Someone, help the patient to bed!" the doctor called out from the doorway. Soon, three nurses rushed over to help, and the doctor and nurses helped Mr. Yang to bed without further ado.

"Lie down properly. I need to examine you carefully. I suspect your condition has worsened; please cooperate," the doctor said, bowing to Mr. Yang.

"Worsened? You doctors always like to exaggerate. I feel better than before the injury; how could it have worsened?" Mr. Yang said, dissatisfied. He had also heard that doctors' bonuses were linked to their workload, and doctors naturally hoped patients would stay in the hospital as long as possible; they'd almost prefer you to book a whole ward and stay there permanently. Yang's father thought to himself, "Take your time examining him. Let's see what else you find."

The doctor removed the thick bandage from Yang's father's head, and a strange thing happened. The wound from being struck by a hard object had already healed, leaving only a faint scar, almost invisible unless you looked closely.

"This... what happened?" the doctor wondered, puzzled. Normally, it would take three or four months for his wound to heal like this, but he had done it in just two days. It was unbelievable! Could this patient's muscle regeneration ability be dozens of times higher than that of an average person?

"Quick, get a wheelchair. We need to take the patient to the X-ray room for another X-ray to see the current state of the hematoma in his brain," the doctor instructed the nurse. He was as excited as Columbus discovering a new continent. Perhaps he had truly encountered a once-in-a-lifetime medical miracle? He had to seize this opportunity; maybe this was his chance to make a name for himself in the world of medicine!

"Don't bother, I don't want a wheelchair. I can walk myself, okay? If the X-ray is fine, can I be discharged?" Mr. Yang stood up easily and said to the nurse, "You lead the way, I'll follow."

Chapter 376 Accumulated Good Deeds in a Past Life

Mr. Yang was escorted to the X-ray room by the doctors and nurses. Mrs. Yang followed behind, muttering, "What are you doing all this unnecessary trouble? He's already fine, why do you need to do more tests?" Yang Ru comforted her, "Mom, it's good for them to do another test, to see how effective the treatment is, so they can feel at ease."

Because the doctor was eager to know the results, the X-ray results, which usually take a whole day, came back quickly. Looking at the photos, the doctor's mouth gaped open in astonishment, unable to close it for a long time. He muttered to himself, "It's amazing! It's a medical miracle! I only gave him ordinary blood-activating and stasis-removing medicine, and it had such a good effect? I was even considering suggesting surgery to see how things went."

Seeing the doctor's astonished expression, Yang Ru asked, "Doctor, how is my dad? Has he improved?"

“Judging from the X-ray, the results are unexpectedly good! Not only is surgery no longer needed, but I think even the medication can be stopped,” the doctor said happily.

“Then can we be discharged immediately? Xiaoru, that’s great, we can go home!” Yang Ru’s father said happily.

“Well… in principle, you can be discharged with this kind of physical condition, and there’s really no need to stay any longer. However, I hope you won’t be discharged for the time being, but will stay in the hospital for observation for a while, okay?” the doctor said with a smile.

“Why? Didn’t you just say I should be able to be discharged?” Yang’s father asked, puzzled.

“To be honest, I’m very interested in your case and want to conduct a special research project on your extraordinary recovery ability. I will cover your hospitalization expenses, so you don’t need to pay a penny. You can eat and stay in the hospital for free, and even the hospitalization fees for the next two days are waived. How about that?” The doctor looked at Yang’s father with shining eyes.

“But… I just want to be discharged as soon as possible. The smell of formaldehyde in the hospital is awful. I still prefer living at home. Please forgive me, I can’t agree to your request,” Mr. Yang said apologetically.

“Do you think the conditions aren’t good enough? We can discuss it further. We can give you an extra 300 yuan a day until my research project is finished, how about that?” The doctor looked at Mr. Yang with expectant eyes.

“No, no amount of money will do. I don’t want to be a guinea pig, and I don’t like the smell of the hospital.” Mr. Yang remained unmoved.

“Doctor, don’t waste your time. My husband won’t listen to you. He’s being discharged today,” Ms. Yang said impatiently. “Xiaoru, go to the ward and help your father pack his things. We’ll go get the discharge papers.”

The doctor was still very patient in trying to persuade him, hoping that Mr. Yang would change his mind immediately. However, Mr. Yang’s attitude was firm, and no matter what conditions he offered, he still refused outright. The doctor, at a loss, sighed deeply and said, "Alright, since you've made up your mind, I won't force you. Go home and complete the procedures. It's just a pity that I can't personally unravel the mystery of a medical miracle; it will be a lifelong regret."

Yang Ru's father saw the doctor's sincere attitude, the genuine regret in his eyes, and his heart stirred. Having been a teacher for decades, he understood the doctor's feelings. His heart softened, and he said to the doctor, "Sigh, I see you truly want to contribute to medicine. I admire your diligent research spirit. I'll postpone my discharge for a few days." "

Really? You really agreed to let me stay? That's wonderful!" the doctor exclaimed, overjoyed.

"Do I look like I'm lying? But you must try to shorten your stay as much as possible, because I really don't like spending too much time in the hospital," Yang Ru's father said with a smile.

The doctor smiled happily, grasped Yang's father's hand tightly, and said repeatedly, "Thank you, thank you for your understanding! Long live understanding!"

Wukong, who had been watching closely, knew that the doctor was destined to leave empty-handed this time. He knew that the reason Yang's father's wound had healed so quickly was simply because he had helped him with his internal energy. What could the doctor possibly find out with his instruments?

"I don't think there's any point in continuing this research. It's probably just a waste of your and others' time," Wukong advised.

Hearing Wukong's words, the doctor was a little displeased. He glared at Wukong and said, "How can scientific research be in vain? Even if we leave behind a bunch of data without reaching a final conclusion, it still provides conditions for future research. Do you know how tuberculosis was conquered? Wasn't it the result of the tireless efforts of one dedicated person after another in the medical field? How can there be a harvest without effort? Go and inquire around; I, Liang Ju, am an expert in cerebrovascular diseases in this city. I have many academic achievements, some of which are internationally recognized." "

Oh, my apologies, I was just suggesting it for your own good. I didn't want you to be disappointed." Wukong didn't expect his suggestion to be met with such a grumbling, so he could only smile awkwardly. "

Alright, alright, I agree to stay and be your guinea pig, but I have a small condition." Yang's father thought for a moment and said.

"Another condition? The conditions I've given are already very generous. If I add more money, I'm afraid I can't afford it." Dr. Liang said with a bitter face. Mr. Yang smiled calmly and said, "Don't worry, my conditions have nothing to do with money. I just ask that you make this public, the more sensational the better, the more attention it will generate."

Yang Ru was a little puzzled. In her mind, her father had always been a very low-key person who never liked to stand out. Why had his personality changed so much after his injury? Could it be a sequela of a moderate concussion?

She wasn't the only one with this worry. Yang's mother shared the same concern. Looking at her husband with worried eyes, she said anxiously, "Old man, are you alright? You're so old, are you really planning to use this to become famous?"

"Hehe, who wouldn't want to be famous?" Yang's father winked at his wife, a smile on his face. Actually, he had already made up his mind; a small plan was slowly taking shape. He vaguely felt that his injury was related to Deputy Director Liu's behind-the-scenes machinations, but he was a nobody. Even if he died, it wouldn't attract public attention. But what if he were a celebrity? Would the outcome be different? He really wanted to know, and he also wanted to use this opportunity to force the police to find the perpetrator.

Dr. Liang, after hearing Yang Ru's father's explanation, secretly chuckled. This man was truly amusing; he tried every possible way to become famous, even an old man with gray hair was no exception. So, smiling, Dr. Liang said to Mr. Yang, "Actually, even if you hadn't brought it up, I would have done it anyway. On my own, I'd encounter many problems, such as equipment issues, funding issues, and professional issues. Some problems are beyond my ability to solve. I'll spread this news immediately and organize enough resources to study it together. You go back to the ward first; I'll go make the arrangements."

With that, Dr. Liang hurriedly left, his face beaming with excitement.

Back in the ward, Yang Ru's mother couldn't wait to ask, "Old man, now that there are no outsiders, you need to be honest. What are you planning? Do you really want fame? Or are you after that lucrative offer?"

"Hey, we've been married for decades, don't you know me? Actually, if you think about it carefully, you'll understand my intentions," Mr. Yang said with a smile. Yang's mother pondered quietly for a while, then hesitantly asked, "Are you trying to use this incident to expand your influence, put pressure on the police, and catch the murderer?"

"Haha, we're such an old married couple, you can guess what I'm thinking. That's right, that's exactly what I'm thinking. Think about it, I'm just an ordinary citizen, the police won't take this case seriously. But once I become famous, things will be very different," Yang's father said happily.

"Oh, so that's what you were thinking, Dad. I thought you had some ulterior motive. Let me tell you a secret, I was actually worried this was a concussion aftereffect," Yang Ru said, deliberately exaggerating.

"What concussion aftereffect? Your dad is perfectly lucid now, clear-headed, and full of energy. I can't believe it myself, why did I suddenly become like this? Before, I couldn't even get out of bed," Yang's father said, puzzled. He carefully recalled that before the miracle, he hadn't taken any special medication; Wukong had just helped him up. Could this miracle have been given to him by Wukong? At that moment, it felt like an electric current was passing through his body, a warm and peculiar sensation. Then, everything changed drastically.

Mr. Yang turned his gaze to Wukong standing beside him, only to see him smiling.

"It's you..." Mr. Yang hesitated. He couldn't be sure; even if Hua Tuo were reborn, he couldn't possess such miraculous medical skills. A few seconds of physical contact could produce such a miraculous cure?

Wukong still smiled at him, his face showing an expression of 'I know nothing.'

"Perhaps you accumulated good karma in your past life, and this is your retribution. We should thank the gods for their grace and do more good deeds and accumulate good karma in the future. As the saying goes, 'There are gods three feet above your head,' and that's absolutely true. That Liu fellow has done so many bad things, causing our Xiaoru to be imprisoned for almost a year. It seems he was responsible for this too; I don't think he can escape divine punishment!" Mrs. Yang said confidently.

"Yes, I believe you'll soon see his retribution," Wukong nodded in agreement.

Chapter 377 Gaining Attention

That evening, Mr. Yang was arranged to have a private ward. The conditions in this ward were quite different from the previous ordinary ward. It was three or four times more spacious, and equipped with air conditioning and a television. A vase of vibrant flowers sat on the TV stand, filling the room with a delicate floral fragrance that masked the pungent formaldehyde odor of the hospital.

Visitors came in waves, one after another, in an orderly fashion. The first to arrive was Dr. Liang, accompanied by a pretty middle-aged woman and a bespectacled man.

"Mr. Liang, this is our hospital's Director Xu. This is Vice Director Lin," Dr. Liang introduced the smiling woman to Mr. Yang, and also introduced the bespectacled man.

"Hello, on behalf of all the staff at our hospital, I thank you for your cooperation." Dean Xu extended his hand to shake Mr. Yang's hand. "I just heard Dr. Liang explain the situation in detail. Your case is very special and rare. According to the cases I know, the probability of your situation is one in ten thousand. Removing the blood clot in your brain with just medication, without surgery, in just two days is truly a miracle! You should know that the blood clot in your brain was 50 millimeters in diameter. Dr. Liang said that if it weren't for your financial situation, he would have performed surgery immediately." As he spoke, Dean Xu looked at the unassuming Mr. Yang with a sympathetic gaze.

Everyone understood Dean Xu's unspoken meaning: Dr. Liang hadn't operated on Mr. Yang because he was afraid Mr. Yang couldn't afford the high cost. Aren't doctors supposed to save lives? Sigh, even a clean place like a hospital is permeated with the stench of money. Yang Ru shook her head, sighing inwardly. However, Dr. Liang's idea also had its advantages, saving Mr. Yang from having to undergo a head surgery.

"Hehe, luckily I'm poor, otherwise I would have really suffered," Mr. Yang said with a wry smile.

Dean Xu generously said, "You don't need to worry about the costs. From now on, our hospital will provide you with the best medical conditions and the best service, all free of charge! Moreover, the hospital will give you a subsidy of three hundred yuan per day until you are discharged." Dean Xu felt like a savior at this moment, hoping that Mr. Yang would then express his gratitude profusely. However, Mr. Yang only smiled faintly and did not speak. Dean Xu smiled awkwardly and said, "I hope the hospital can make you feel at home. Dr. Liang, please take good care of Mr. Yang. I'm very busy, so I'll take my leave now."

"Okay, Dean Xu, take care." Dr. Liang respectfully saw Dean Xu to the door before turning back.

"Mr. Yang, you are very lucky. Even Dean Xu is very interested in your case. Your hospitalization conditions will be first-class in our hospital," Dr. Liang said with a smile.

“No matter how nice the accommodations are here, it can’t compare to the bed I’ve slept in for decades back home!” Mr. Yang said dejectedly.

Immediately afterward, another group arrived. Dr. Liang explained that these were cardiovascular experts from across the country, who had come to collect data for research. Dr. Liang compared the X-ray scans from when the accident occurred with the current scans; the significant difference excited the experts, who then conducted an on-site demonstration. Few of the experts understood the complex medical terminology, but they could tell that Mr. Yang’s case had genuinely piqued their interest.

After the experts left, a group of reporters arrived, armed with professional interviewing equipment—long lenses and microphones—and swarmed in. Yang Ru counted eight of them. "My God, so many reporters coming in at once! Have all the hospital security guards gone home on holiday? Can't they step in and manage this?"

Little did Yang Ru know, the hospital security guards weren't on holiday. These reporters were specially arranged by the hospital with only one purpose: to give the hospital a free publicity opportunity through their reports. After all, it was a great medical miracle, reflecting both the hospital's medical expertise and the hospital leadership's high regard for academic research. The security guards, of course, wouldn't stop these reporters.

Their keen professional instincts told them that this was a rare miracle in the medical field, sure to cause a sensation in the world of medicine. Therefore, the reporters bombarded Yang's father with a barrage of questions, a variety of unpredictable and overwhelming questions.

"Do you consider yourself physically different from others? Do you possess any mysterious special abilities?"

"Have you had this ability to recover quickly since childhood? Or is it due to genetics?" "

Are your parents martial arts masters? Do you have any special secret formulas?"

"Do you have a normal sex life? How many times a week on average?"

...

Mr. Yang was annoyed by the reporters' questions and answered many with silence, which only piqued their interest. They assumed he was intentionally concealing a rare secret formula, making the matter even more mysterious, and thus, countless guesses began to circulate in their minds.

"Oh dear, why are you all so busy asking this and that? Doesn't anyone ask why I'm in the hospital? Doesn't anyone want to know?" Mr. Yang was both amused and exasperated. If they continued asking like this, they wouldn't get to the point for hours, so he had no choice but to bring up the question himself.

"Um, this... okay, can you tell us how you got injured?" one reporter finally asked. Although not many readers might want to know the answer, since the person involved had brought it up, they had to ask anyway.

"Actually, I've already reported my injury to the police. You can find the details at the police station. On the surface, it seems like I was attacked by five or six young men, but anyone with eyes can see that things are far more complicated than that. Think about it, I have no grudge against these young men, and we're complete strangers. I can't even remember what they look like now. Why would they specifically target me? Why?" Mr. Yang became somewhat agitated as he spoke about the incident.

"Yes, why? There's no such thing as love or hate without a reason. Perhaps you unknowingly offended them without realizing it? Could it be that you stole one of their girlfriends?" a reporter suggested boldly.

"Stole their girlfriends? That's a very far-fetched assumption! With my age and my humble background?" Mr. Yang, sitting on the hospital bed, wanted to jump up and snatch the microphone from the reporter's hand and throw it into the toilet. This reporter was so rude; the questions were completely irrelevant.

"So...did they steal your girlfriend? Or is it someone who's taken a liking to your daughter, and you're vehemently opposed?" The reporter continued speculating, still focusing on the girlfriend. The reporter also glanced at Yang Ru; the two looked somewhat alike. Could this woman be his daughter? And was everything caused by her? The reporter secretly wondered.

To avoid his blood vessels about to explode, Yang's father had no choice but to stop this endless speculation. He said, "Unfortunately, you're all wrong. Actually, my injury is most likely related to a high-ranking official in the police station. Before I was taken in, this official's family's mysteriously obtained large sums of money were exposed, and he suspected me of doing it, so he hired someone to attack me."

Yang's father's words stunned the reporters. This was a great explosive news story. A high-ranking police official hired someone to beat up a civilian? Tomorrow's newspapers would sell like hotcakes.

"Are you telling the truth? Defamation is a serious crime! Even we reporters will be implicated. You must have facts to support your claims," one reporter worried for him.

"Are you talking about Deputy Director Liu of the police station? I heard he's been suspended from his duties pending investigation. Is that directly related to your case?" a reporter asked.

"The police will hold a press conference tomorrow to report on the investigation into Deputy Director Liu's unexplained assets. Did you provide those materials posted online?"

After everyone had finished asking questions, Mr. Yang slowly said, "Don't rush, everyone. I'll tell you the whole story from the beginning. However, to understand what happened, I have to start with my daughter, Yang Ru..."

Mr.

Yang recounted how Yang Ru offended Deputy Director Liu, how she was secretly imprisoned, how he desperately searched for his daughter, and how he was inexplicably beaten. Every word was filled with bitterness and sorrow, bringing tears to the eyes of the reporters who listened.

"Sigh, I never thought Liu was this kind of person, his heart is so black!"

"He's suspended from his duties for investigation, karma! I hope at tomorrow's press conference, the police will be impartial and release the evidence of his embezzlement and bribery to the public, exposing his evil deeds to the world! A person like this doesn't even deserve to be a human being, let alone an official!" a reporter said indignantly.

This was exactly the effect Yang's father wanted. The more media attention, the more the police couldn't ignore this matter and would have to give the public an explanation, right?

"Great, our newspaper is also on the invitation list for tomorrow's press conference. I just happen to be on the invited list, so I can go to the press conference in person tomorrow and hear what the police have to say." a reporter said excitedly.

"Let's go too. Although we weren't officially invited, it's good to listen in." other reporters were not to be outdone.

Chapter 378 Absurd Investigation Results

The next morning, starting at seven o'clock, Yang Ru's father was woken up by a nurse, who took his temperature and blood pressure, and gave him two small plastic cups to collect some urine and stool samples for testing. Yang's mother, who had stayed with him in the next bed all night, also woke up. Seeing the nurses making a fuss,

she said, "Why wake people up so early just to do all this? Couldn't it be later? Like after eight o'clock?" The nurse taking Yang's father's blood pressure was a young woman. Hearing Yang's mother's complaint, she felt a little embarrassed and blushed, saying, "I'm sorry to have woken you up so early. This is a daily routine check for patients in the VIP ward. I'm sorry to have bothered you." Yang's father quickly comforted his wife, saying, "..." "Look at you, you scared that young girl. It's alright, it's alright. I can't sleep that much anyway. It's good to get up early for a checkup, hehe. I rarely get a checkup even once a year, so now the doctor can examine me to my heart's content. Besides, there's a press conference on TV at nine o'clock, and I definitely need to hear the police investigation results, so it's good to get checked up early."

After about half an hour of this, the routine checkup was finally completed. The nurse carefully carried the two plastic cups away, and Yang Ru and Wukong went into the ward together. After a night's rest, and the joy of reuniting with her family, Yang Ru looked radiant. Seeing her father sitting on the hospital bed with a pained expression, she asked, "Dad, what's wrong? You look so miserable first thing in the morning. Did you have a nightmare last night?"

Seeing Yang Ru enter, her father's face immediately lit up with a smile. He chuckled and said, "The nurses were tormenting me for over half an hour, and I was a little frustrated. You can imagine what it's like for a healthy person to be examined so many times every day. But now that you're here, you can chat with me, and life won't be so hard."

The father and daughter chatted happily for a short while before Dr. Liang entered with the young nurse. He examined Yang's father for a moment, nodded, and said, "Hmm, not bad, you look great today!"

"Of course I look good, because I'm perfectly fine," Yang's father said confidently.

“Mr. Yang, although you seem to be fine now, as the subject of our hospital's experiment, you need to undergo five comprehensive physical examinations every day, including this morning's blood pressure and temperature measurements, urination and defecation tests, and blood tests. If we deem it necessary, we will conduct other examinations. Now, please cooperate a little longer and have the nurse draw some blood for testing,” Dr. Liang said seriously.

“Blood test? I won't do it! I've been afraid of blood tests since I was a child!” Mr. Yang hurriedly objected.

“You must cooperate with our work, because you and I have a verbal agreement. Our hospital is providing you with free services in exchange for your cooperation in obtaining research data. You can't break your promise!” Dr. Liang said to Mr. Yang with a smile. Mr. Yang said helplessly, “Okay, I have no choice but to comply.” Looking at the huge syringe in the nurse's hand, Mr. Yang closed his eyes and let her draw blood.

Before nine o'clock, Mr. Yang was already sitting firmly in front of the TV, fixing the program on the local channel. Yang Ru chuckled and said to him, “Dad, you look so nervous, like the police are about to announce something big. Actually, you don't need to be so nervous. The police investigation results are already finalized, and the announcement later won't change because of your mood. You might as well lie in bed and rest for a while. You've been through a lot this morning, you must be tired.”

“Of course I know that, but I just want to know the results as soon as possible. Don't worry, I don't feel tired at all, I'm in great spirits,” Mr. Yang said nonchalantly.

The press conference was indeed held on time at nine o'clock. Appearing before everyone was a refined-looking police officer, around forty years old, with two younger officers sitting to his side. He began by introducing himself as Cheng, the director of the publicity department of the Aolai Police Department, accompanied by two colleagues.

"The Century Club fire has recently become a hot topic in Aolai. After extensive investigation, our police have confirmed that the Century Club operated without a license for many years, and its fire safety facilities were outdated and had not passed relevant departmental inspections. As the person directly responsible for supervision, Deputy Director Liu bears undeniable responsibility. Therefore, our police have suspended Deputy Director Liu from his duties pending investigation. Our accountability system is very sound; whoever is in charge is responsible! As for the online rumors that Deputy Director Liu embezzled and accepted bribes of over 200 million yuan, our police also took this very seriously and spent considerable manpower and resources investigating. The final conclusion is that this rumor severely exaggerated the facts and is very irresponsible. The verifiable facts are that Deputy Director Liu only accepted gifts from subordinate officers on two occasions, the total value of which was equivalent to 351.4 yuan in Aolai currency. There is no evidence of embezzlement or bribery of over 200 million yuan. Okay, now we will answer questions from the media. Please raise your hand to speak," Director Cheng said to the sea of reporters below.

A female reporter raised her hand first, and before Director Cheng even nodded, she stood up and asked, "How does the police explain the evidence circulating online regarding Deputy Director Liu's alleged embezzlement and bribery of over 200 million yuan? There are photos of over 10 million yuan in cash, as well as over 200 million yuan in bankbooks, stocks, and securities—all documented with photographic evidence."

Director Cheng, seemingly confident, chuckled and replied, "Given that the photos were uploaded to a blog, and the blogger's name is just a username, we police believe she posted them anonymously. We have reason to suspect that these photos might be composites, perhaps even pranks, so we've commissioned experts to authenticate them. We'll have the results in a month. Until their authenticity is confirmed, these photos cannot be used as evidence." "

Then…Century Club is a large entertainment venue. Why was it able to operate without a license for so many years? Was there a regulatory vacuum on the part of the police? Also, the fire safety facilities are so outdated; why did the police turn a blind eye? Besides Deputy Director Liu, who else should be held responsible for this?" the female reporter continued.

Director Cheng patiently answered her questions: “The division of labor within the police station is very clear. Deputy Director Liu is responsible for public security and fire prevention, so he is the directly responsible person for this matter. Our principle is that whoever is in charge is responsible; others who are not directly involved do not need to be held accountable.”

“However, according to the casualty figures released by your police, the Century Club fire killed eighteen people and injured thirty-five. With such tragic consequences, is the punishment for the relevant officials merely suspension? Don’t you think the cost of dereliction of duty is too low? Perhaps this is why officials keep neglecting their duties?” The female reporter’s question was also sharp.

“Well, if further investigation confirms that he neglected his duties, our police will give him a more severe punishment, and we do not rule out pursuing his criminal liability.” Director Cheng seemed somewhat overwhelmed.

Yang Ru, who was at the hospital, was also following the matter. Hearing the police investigation results, she was extremely disappointed and said with disbelief, "Three hundred and fifty yuan and forty cents? Add six zeros and it's more like it. A high-ranking official in the police station was only found to have accepted a gift of three hundred and fifty yuan and forty cents? The police's explanation is incredibly naive. Do they think the public are fools?"

Wukong laughed and said, "Haha, that's really brilliant, absolutely brilliant! I thought they would at least admit to one hundred thousand or eighty thousand, but it's only a little over three hundred! Then Deputy Director Liu isn't a corrupt official anymore; he's a once-in-a-century honest official! It's so wrong for the police to suspend him from his duties for investigation. I think they should award him a grand prize for incorruptible official conduct as encouragement."

Yang's father's eyes widened, he simply couldn't believe it. The police investigation results were like this? Wasn't this just blatant nonsense? Were the police all blind?

"How is this possible? How is this possible? The evidence is clearly conclusive, why can they cover up the truth? My God! What kind of world is this?" Yang's father looked utterly devastated.

"Forget it, take it easy. There are so many unfair things these days. What can we do? We're just ordinary people," Yang's mother quickly comforted him, afraid her husband would get upset. This was infuriating!

Did they really think ordinary people were idiots? Just as Yang's father was about to change the channel, a reporter asked, "Director Cheng, a year ago, there was a fire at the Century Club. Aolai TV reporter Yang Ru was the first to expose Deputy Director Liu's dereliction of duty, and then she mysteriously disappeared. A year later, photos suspected of showing Deputy Director Liu embezzling and accepting bribes appeared online. That same day, Yang Ru's father was surrounded and brutally beaten by five or six young men, almost losing his life. Do you think there's a connection between these two events? Is there some unspeakable secret behind them?"

Yang's father was delighted to see that the reporter asking the question was the same one who had interviewed him the previous night.

Director Cheng paused for a moment, clearly considering his words, before hesitantly saying, "I don't know much about this matter. Regarding the disappearance of the female reporter from Aolai TV, I only know the general outline; the deeper reasons behind it require further investigation. However, I personally believe it's unlikely that Deputy Director Liu was responsible, nor would he have instructed anyone to do so. He's a law enforcement officer; he wouldn't knowingly break the law. As for the attack on Yang Ru's father, this is the first time I've heard of it; further investigation is needed."

"If Director Cheng is interested in knowing the truth, there's no need to waste time investigating," the reporter said passionately. "I just interviewed him last night. Here's the recording and video; I can play them for everyone to see and hear right now. I hope the police will apprehend the young man who assaulted her as soon as possible and bring the truth to light!"

Director Cheng waved his hand and said, "Due to time constraints, the video and audio recordings won't be played on the spot. I'll arrange to see them separately after the press conference. As for those young men, I will urge the relevant police officers to apprehend them as soon as possible!"

Hearing this, a smile appeared on Yang's father's face, and he said with relief, "That's good. Finally, the police have taken notice, and I won't have to be beaten up for nothing!"

Chapter 379 Direct Confrontation

The press conference hadn't ended when a commotion suddenly broke out among the reporters. Then a voice said, "Make way, please make way!" The reporters made way, and Wukong and Yang Ru squeezed in. Beside Wukong were six young men around eighteen or nineteen years old, some with black hair dyed in various colors, others dressed strangely, quite different from ordinary people. They weren't tied up, but they all seemed to be controlled by some force, their faces filled with fear, as if they had just seen ghosts. Their exposed skin was also covered in bruises, clearly indicating that they had just been severely beaten.

"There's no need to trouble the police to arrest them. They're too busy. Let us ordinary citizens handle this little matter." Wukong led the six young men to the reception and went directly to the stage.

"Who are you? This is a press conference. Please don't cause trouble." Director Cheng was puzzled as to how these people had managed to get into the press conference. What were the four police officers maintaining order outside doing?

He couldn't believe that those four officers had been frozen in place by Wukong's magic and were dutifully guarding the entrance.

"I am Yang Ru, a reporter from Aolai TV. He is the actor who played Sun Wukong in the movie Journey to the West," Yang Ru introduced herself to Director Cheng with a smile.

"Sun Wukong? Yang Ru? You've struck it rich this time! You're both hot commodities!" The reporters were excited upon hearing these two names and swarmed around Yang Ru and Sun Wukong, while Director Cheng and the other two police officers on the stage were left out.

"Ah, Yang Ru, you've finally appeared! Where have you been this past year?" A colleague from Aolai TV, who was also there for the interview, approached Yang Ru and asked with concern.

“It’s a long story, I’ll tell you slowly when I have time. We’ve brought gifts this time, I guarantee you’ll be very interested.” Yang Ru knew what the reporters were interested in, so she pointed to the six young men beside her and said, “My gifts are right here. You can point your cameras at them; they’re the main characters in this show.”

“The main characters? These six greenhorn kids?” The reporter was puzzled.

“Yes, those six. Wukong just ‘invited’ them out of the internet cafe. Hey, you enthusiastic young men, tell everyone, who beat up my father?” Yang Ru asked the six young men.

“I…we…we did it!” the six young men answered softly.

“Speak louder, everyone can’t hear you clearly!” Wukong scolded from the side.

The six young men trembled, their expressions becoming even more frightened, and they quickly answered loudly, “We did it! We beat up the man surnamed Yang!”

The reporters’ excitement was aroused. Heh, so these were the ones who beat up Yang’s father.

"Did you really do it? You're all so young, you don't look like gangsters. What weapon did you use?" a reporter asked.

"I hit him on the head with a stick, and he fell down."

"I just used my fist."

"My god, you actually hit someone on the head with a stick? Aren't you afraid of killing him? Or crippling him?"

One of the young men curled his lip and said disdainfully, "What's so great about using a stick? Sometimes we even use watermelon knives!"

"Why did you hit him? We heard that Mr. Yang is just an ordinary teacher. Did you have some kind of grudge against him?" a reporter asked.

"No, no grudge," the six young men answered in unison.

"Then why? Were you itching to beat someone up?"

"I...we took his money." One of the young men glanced timidly at Wukong.

"Took his money? Who? Who gave you the money?" The reporters became excited.

Director Cheng, unable to sit still on the platform, stepped down and approached the reporters, saying, "Hey, hey, what's going on here? Are you interrogating criminals? Leave that to the police! What you're doing is illegal. Where are the officers on duty at the door? Come in and temporarily detain these six young men for further investigation."

However, no matter how much Director Cheng shouted, no police officers came in.

"What are you two still doing sitting here? Come over here and help detain these six guys," Director Cheng said to the two bewildered officers.

"Wait! We're not interrogating criminals; we're just conducting a special interview. The media has the right to know!" one reporter protested.

"Yes, we need to know the truth!" Everyone surrounded the six young men, preventing Director Cheng and his colleagues from getting any closer, leaving them to sulk outside. One reporter seized the opportunity to ask, "You said someone gave you money, so who exactly gave you the money?"

"I can't say, I'm dead if I do, he has a lot of power!" one of the young men said timidly.

"Really? You really don't want to talk?" Wukong looked at them with a smile.

"We'll talk, we'll talk!" The young men trembled inexplicably at the smile on Wukong's face and hurriedly offered to reveal the mastermind.

"Then what are you waiting for?" Wukong glared at them.

"Okay, we'll confess. The person who gave us the money was a boss from the police station, surnamed Liu. He gave each of us five thousand yuan beforehand, and another five thousand afterward. He told us to beat him to death, and he would take responsibility for anything that happened. But we were scared; killing someone is a serious crime, so when we saw him faint, we ran away." One of the young men confessed honestly.

"Is this the boss you're talking about?" Wukong held up a large photograph he'd gotten from somewhere, showing Deputy Chief Liu.

"Yes, that's him!" the young man nodded.

The reporters were shocked. A deputy chief of police hiring someone to commit assault? What's the difference between this and organized crime?

"This is outrageous! A deputy police chief, doing something like this!"

"This is utterly lawless! Even law enforcement officers are like this. What can ordinary citizens rely on?"

Seeing the moment was right, Wukong readily threw out another secret weapon, saying, "There's more to come. Besides these young people, I'll provide even more explosive photos, guaranteed to be a treat for everyone. The photos posted online are all real; none are composites. They were taken by a good friend of mine with his phone. I can provide everyone with the phone that holds the original photos." "

Really? That's wonderful! So what Director Cheng said at the press conference was all a lie?"

"Officials protect each other; the words of officials are the least trustworthy..."

Director Cheng's face turned a deep shade of liver. He jumped up and down, cursing, "Sun Wukong, don't spread rumors! You have to take responsibility for your words!"

“Of course I will take responsibility for what I say! Do you think I'm just spreading rumors? Would I spout nonsense here without solid evidence? I'm a celebrity, you know! You don't want everyone to know the truth, you're deliberately concealing the facts, what are you up to? Everyone can figure it out with their toes. I think you and that Liu guy are birds of a feather, neither of you are clean! If you're interested, wait a moment, I'll get that phone and bring a witness who was also present at the time, what do you say?” Wukong said to the reporters.

“Okay, we'll wait for you here!” the reporters said in unison.

“No! I declare today's press conference over! Please leave the police station immediately, otherwise I will arrange for the police to maintain order!” Director Cheng announced angrily.

"Haha, are you feeling guilty? Don't get angry, you'll make yourself sick. You haven't even had time to enjoy all that wealth you've plundered, it would be such a waste to just leave like this!" Wukong chuckled, comforting Director Cheng. He then waved to the reporters, saying, "Wait for me to come back, don't be late!"

"We'll definitely wait for you to come back! Even if the police come to clear the place out, we won't leave!" The reporters all expressed their support for Wukong.

"Are you going to find Situ Yu? Aren't you afraid of retaliation from the police?" Yang Ru asked worriedly in Wukong's ear.

"Hehe, if a little woman like you can be so fearless of power, how could I, a grown man, be intimidated by these clowns? Don't worry, I will definitely bring them down, give you and your father justice, and let the public see what kind of people the police they trust really are!" Wukong comforted Yang Ru using his telepathic ability.

"Alright, I'll wait for you here too." Yang Ru gazed at Wukong affectionately.

Chapter 380 Enraged

Less than twenty minutes later, while the reporters were still eagerly anticipating the event, Wukong appeared at the press conference, accompanied by a beautiful girl. However, many police officers were already maintaining order, apparently summoned by Director Cheng at the last minute, trying to shoo the reporters away. But the reporters refused to back down, and the police, unable to use force against them, had to give up, simply separating Director Cheng from the reporters, leaving a passageway in the middle. As soon as Wukong appeared, the reporters became excited again, immediately surrounding Wukong and Situ Yu.

"Situ Yu!" Yang Ru rushed over excitedly and hugged Situ Yu tightly.

"Are you alright? Did the police get rough with you?" Situ Yu asked with concern.

"Not yet. The reporters insisted on waiting for Wukong to return, so the police didn't dare to be blatantly violent. Situ Yu, I didn't expect you to come in person. Aren't you afraid of offending powerful people and affecting your father's business?" Yang Ru asked.

"What's there to be afraid of? I'm not spreading rumors or slander; I have solid evidence. Besides, I learned it from you. I've heard about your situation from Wukong. I really admire your courage! If it were me, I probably wouldn't have been able to hold out this long! Yang Ru, you're truly admirable!" Situ Yu praised sincerely. The

other reporters couldn't hear what the two were talking about, but the sight of two beautiful women embracing intimately and whispering was a beautiful sight in itself, attracting the reporters' attention. They took a flurry of photos of Situ Yu and Yang Ru, leaving Wukong neglected.

“Sun Wukong, may I speak with you alone?” Director Cheng approached Wukong and asked quietly.

“You want to speak with me? Do you think it’s necessary? I’m just an ordinary citizen; I’m afraid I’m not worth your time for a deep conversation,” Wukong asked, frowning. Director Cheng smiled awkwardly and said, “What are you saying? I know you’re a very famous actor. My precious grandson loves watching your Journey to the West. Your influence is greater than mine. Can I have a few minutes of your time to talk?” “

Can’t we talk here? Why do we have to have such a formal private conversation? I’m not used to talking to officials, especially someone as calculating as you,” Wukong retorted sarcastically. “What

I need to discuss with you is something that’s inconvenient for too many people to know. Please, Mr. Sun, do me the honor of talking inside,” Director Cheng pleaded again with a forced smile. Wukong thought to himself, “Fine, let’s talk. Let’s see what tricks you have up your sleeve. Are you trying to pay me hush money? I don’t like that kind of thing.” Though he didn't say it aloud, he said, "Alright, since you've repeatedly asked to talk to me, go ahead. But let me make it clear, I might not enjoy listening to your conversation."

A hint of joy appeared on Director Cheng's face, and he said happily to Wukong, "I know, I know. I'm very happy that Mr. Sun would deign to listen to me for a few words. Mr. Sun, please come inside!"

Wukong turned to leave.

"Mr. Sun Wukong, where are you going with Director Cheng?" A reporter, having finally managed to shift his attention away from the two beauties, Situ Yu and Yang Ru, noticed Wukong walking inside and hurriedly called out. His shout also attracted the attention of others, who thought the police were going to take Wukong away and rushed over to protest. "Do

n't rush, I just want to go inside with Director Cheng. He said he wants to talk to me for a few minutes," Wukong said with a smile.

"Don't go in! Don't believe what the police say. The police station gates are not easy to enter; once you go in, it won't be easy for you to get out," some reporters expressed their concern, and some even stepped forward to pull Wukong back. The police maintaining order, as if facing a formidable enemy, came over and shooed the reporters away. Wukong chuckled and said, "Really? The police station isn't a tiger's mouth. How can someone go in and not come out? I don't believe it. Under everyone's watchful eyes, do you think they can eat me alive?" Wukong deliberately spoke loudly, "Don't you think so, Director Cheng?"

"Yes, yes, the police station is a democratic place. Everyone can come and go as they please. People have misunderstood it. I can assure you, Mr. Sun will definitely come out safe and sound," Director Cheng said confidently. Wukong secretly smiled, thinking, "You're absolutely right. What can you do to me, Old Sun?"

Entering a spacious office, Director Cheng closed the door, smiled at Wukong, and said, "Mr. Sun, let's be frank. I don't want to beat around the bush anymore. Do you really have some shady photos and documents about Deputy Director Liu?" Wukong chuckled and said, "Do you think I'm joking with you?"

"Alright, we're all sensible people. In short, how much do you plan to sell the information you have for?" Wukong asked, puzzled, "What do you mean, how much? Did I say I was going to sell these photos? Let me tell you, these photos are not for sale. No amount of money will make me sell them."

Director Cheng asked suspiciously, "Isn't your goal to make a quick buck?" Wukong shook his head, saying disdainfully, "I'm not so low as to sell my conscience! However, I'm curious, Director Cheng seems very interested in this information. Why is that? These photos don't seem to have much to do with you."

Director Cheng smiled bitterly and said, "Sigh, it's come to this..." "I must be frank with you, Deputy Director Liu is a disgrace to our police force, and we will severely punish him. However, for the sake of our police reputation, we have to conceal his despicable behavior from the public, which is why we had that news conference about Deputy Director Liu accepting a bribe of 350 yuan and 40 cents. Unexpectedly, this unexpected obstacle has disrupted our perfect plan. If this gets out, it will be a heavy blow to our police image! Therefore, I hope you will hand over the photos, and we will give you generous compensation. As for Deputy Director Liu, I can assure you, he will receive the punishment he deserves." "Hand over the photos

? What about the public's right to know? Are we supposed to keep everyone in the dark? Are we supposed to believe that Deputy Director Liu only accepted a bribe of 350 yuan and 40 cents? Don't you think that amount is ridiculous?" Wukong said with a disdainful laugh. "

You don't need to worry about the public. They are easy to deal with. As long as the police arrange for a few more people to testify that Deputy Director Liu did not embezzle or accept bribes, the matter will quickly fade from public memory," Director Cheng said confidently.

“Have you been using this method to fool the people all this time? Do you think we're all idiots? No, I can't do that. Besides, that Liu guy was behind it all, manipulating six young men to assault Yang Ru's father and illegally detaining Yang Ru for almost a year. Such crimes cannot be let off easily,” Wukong said.

“Didn't I just tell you? The truth must be kept from the public, but we can deal with Deputy Director Liu severely, we will absolutely not tolerate him. I swear on my honor that I will never break my promise to you,” Director Cheng assured him, patting his chest. Wukong shook his head and said, "It still won't work. I don't really believe the oaths you police officers make. You'll change your mind the moment you turn your back. If I hand over the photos to you, they could very well become evidence against me for blackmail..."

Director Cheng's patience had run out. Wukong's refusal made his face turn very ugly. His expression darkened, and he said coldly, "Sun Wukong, I've only been talking to you for so long because you're a celebrity. Don't be so stubborn. Do you think we police can't do anything to you if you don't hand over the photos voluntarily? Hmph, you're mistaken!"

"Haha, you finally said something tough! I love seeing your true colors! That smile just now was all fake, ridiculously fake, because you haven't learned to smile and talk to an ordinary citizen. I'd like to know, how does your police force manage to pull these photos out of my pocket?" Wukong wasn't surprised by Director Cheng's cold face; this was just how people were, that hypocritical facade was merely a mask.

"Sun Wukong, you are suspected of blackmailing high-ranking police officials with photos. From this moment on, our police force has the right to investigate you." Director Cheng threw a teacup on the table to the ground with a loud thud. With that sound, a group of heavily armed police officers rushed into the office.

Chapter 381 Role Reversal

Hearing the sound of the teacup hitting the ground, the police officers who had been waiting outside the office immediately rushed in, each armed and focused. Director Cheng, furious, stood with his hands on his hips, pointing at Sun Wukong and shouting, "You audacious Sun Wukong! How dare you threaten and extort me! Tie him up, beat him severely, and then throw him into the dark room! No one is to be released without my orders!"

The policemen hurriedly tied up 'Sun Wukong,' who struggled and cursed, "Are your eyes all in your crotches? Open your dog eyes and see! I am Director Cheng, and this is Sun Wukong, an imposter! Don't be fooled!" One policeman slapped him hard, saying, "If you spout any more nonsense, I'll shoot you dead!"

"Sun Wukong" was even more enraged. He spat a thick wad of phlegm in the policeman's face and said, "Are you rebelling? You dare hit me, Director Cheng? Let me tell you, you're not coming to work tomorrow!" The policeman kicked "Sun Wukong" several times, almost breaking his leg, and cursed viciously, "Damn it, who do you think you are? You think you can make me not come to work tomorrow? Are you my boss or my superior?"

Meanwhile, "Director Cheng" was watching with schadenfreude. Actually, that "Director Cheng" was the real Sun Wukong. The moment the real Director Cheng threw the teacup, Wukong knew the police would come in. Wukong quickly transformed into Director Cheng's appearance, while the real Director Cheng became himself. This transformation was completed in less than a second. The policemen, of course, didn't have a chance to see the transformation process. They thought they had arrested Wukong; they never imagined that the one tied up was actually the real Director Cheng.

"Kids, what are you waiting for? Give Sun Wukong a good beating! Don't hold back! I'll see clearly who hits hard enough, and it'll be recorded as evidence for your promotions!" Sun Wukong ordered the policemen with a smile.

Hearing that beating someone could be used for promotion, the policemen naturally didn't hold back. They punched and kicked Director Cheng until his face was bruised and swollen, and his ribs ached, probably from a heavy kick.

"Well done! Well done! You're truly well-trained policemen, professional when it comes to beating people! Okay, keep it up until he stops impersonating me, Director Cheng!" Sun Wukong applauded the policemen's fierceness. Encouraged, the policemen became even more aggressive, their fists raining down on Director Cheng. Director Cheng was seeing stars, and combined with his anger, he couldn't catch his breath and fainted.

"Reporting to Director Cheng, Sun Wukong has fainted," a policeman said to Sun Wukong.

"Don't forget, Sun Wukong is an excellent actor, his acting skills are top-notch. Don't be fooled by his acting; he's a master of disguise! Don't stop, here's a pot of cold water, take it and wash his face, wake him up and keep beating him!" Wukong instructed with a smile.

"Alright! Let's continue!" The policemen, their interest in beating him piqued by Wukong, became unstoppable. They took a pot of cold water from the table in front of Wukong, brought it to Director Cheng, and poured the entire pot of water on Director Cheng's face. Stimulated by the cold water, Director Cheng woke up and opened his eyes.

"You... I..." Director Cheng wanted to identify himself to the policemen again, but he was afraid of being beaten again, so he stopped and looked at the policeman who had poured the cold water on him with a resentful gaze.

"How about that? Still pretending to be Director Cheng?" the policeman asked smugly.

Good heavens, I am the real Director Cheng! Director Cheng sighed inwardly, but dared not show it on his face, lest he get another beating. He glanced at Wukong, who was watching the scene with a smile not far away. When did he disguise himself as him? No wonder the police all thought he was me; his disguise skills were so amazing, so similar to me. Then… do I look like Sun Wukong now? Director Cheng touched his cheek in fear, his heart filled with shock and terror. But he was also unwilling to accept it; he was clearly the real Director Cheng, so why couldn't he admit it? So Director Cheng shook his head and then nodded, looking utterly foolish and ridiculous.

"Haha, a beating really does make you more obedient, but it's not thorough enough; another beating might be more effective!" Sun Wukong fanned the flames from the side. Director Cheng immediately received countless punches and kicks again. In pain and terror, Director Cheng fainted again in a panic.

"Report, Director Cheng, Sun Wukong has fainted again!" a policeman reported loudly.

“Sigh, this Sun Wukong is really weak; he passed out after only a few blows. Forget it, I've lost patience with him. Drag him to the dark room and detain him temporarily. No one is to release him without my order; violators will be held accountable,” Wukong ordered. Two policemen carried Director Cheng's body out. The unconscious Director Cheng was limp, like a dead dog being carried away by two policemen.

“Children, what's the situation outside?” Wukong asked the policemen surrounding him.

“The situation isn't good. The reporters are all waiting for Sun Wukong to come out. Now that he's injured like this, how does Director Cheng plan to explain himself to the reporters? If the reporters don't get a satisfactory answer, they're prone to writing whatever they want, and it might have a bad impact,” one policeman asked doubtfully.

“Then what do you think we should do?” Wukong asked him deliberately.

“Just say that Sun Wukong didn't have any evidence, that his previous words were lies to the media, and that he's ashamed to face you reporters, so he left through the back door of the police station,” the policeman suggested to Wukong.

"Hehe, you're quite adept at making up lies, aren't you? Do you use this trick often?" Wukong praised. The policeman thought Wukong was genuinely praising him, puffed out his chest, and proudly said, "Reporting, sir, I've served in the police force for eight years. Of course, I'm proficient in this skill!"

"Hmm, not bad, promising! You have the potential to rise to a high-ranking position! Keep up the good work, carry forward the fine tradition of lying in the police force, and your future will be limitless," Wukong teased.

"Thank you for your guidance, sir! I will definitely remember it!" The policeman was completely unaware of the cold smile on Wukong's lips, thinking he had received praise from his superior, and was already overjoyed.

"Alright, I'll use the lies you made up to fool those reporters. They're too curious; I'll go out and satisfy their curiosity," Wukong said to the policemen with a smile.

Wukong was escorted back to the press conference by the police. The reporters, who had been waiting impatiently, were already

buzzing with discussion. Seeing "Director Cheng" and the police emerge, but not seeing Wukong, they felt a sense of foreboding. Had Wukong been detained by the police in such a short time? Situ Yu and Yang Ru, in particular, looked flustered, their eyes darting around frantically, searching for Wukong.

"Everyone, quiet down! Quiet down! Give me some respect!" Wukong gestured for everyone to stop talking. Yang Ru bluntly asked, "Before you speak, you have to answer one question: Has Sun Wukong been detained by your police?"

"Oh dear, why is Xiaoru always so impatient? No wonder she's always getting confined; she easily offends people." Wukong chuckled and said, "This lady asked a very good question. I just wanted to announce some news. Sun Wukong took advantage of going to the restroom and left through the back door without even saying goodbye. How rude! However, he left behind a few photos, which I've examined for a long time but haven't gotten a clear answer from. So, I'm showing these photos to everyone. Please tell me your honest opinions: are these photos real, or are they computer-generated?"

As he spoke, Wukong pulled a large manila envelope from his pocket, tore it open, and more than ten enlarged photos fell out. Wukong said, "Anyone interested in seeing them, come and take them." As soon as he finished speaking, the reporters rushed forward to grab the photos, and within a minute, all the photos were gone.

Situ Yu looked at Wukong with a puzzled expression. She couldn't understand how Director Cheng had these photos; weren't they with Wukong? Could it be that Sun Wukong had been ambushed by the police? Her expression turned serious. She whispered a few words to Yang Ru, whose expression also became serious, her brows furrowed, and she glared angrily at Wukong.

Wukong, of course, could see what they were thinking. To reassure them, he used his telepathic ability to say to them, "Xiaoyu, Xiaoru, don't worry too much. I'm not Director Cheng. Actually, I'm Sun Wukong, hehe, isn't that fun?"

Situ Yu and Yang Ru exchanged knowing smiles. They realized it was just Wukong playing a prank. Their hearts relaxed, and they watched Wukong with ease, wondering what new tricks this imposter Director Cheng would pull.

Chapter 382: A Desperate

Stand. After receiving the photos from Wukong, the reporters examined them carefully. The banknotes, bankbooks, names of owners, stocks, and securities in the photos were all clearly captured. The reporters looked left and right, but couldn't find any trace of computer manipulation. At this moment, at Wukong's instruction, the police brought Deputy Director Liu, who was recuperating at home, to the police station.

"Reporting to Director Cheng, Deputy Director Liu has arrived," the policeman reported to Wukong.

"Good, very good! Deputy Director Liu, you look quite well after a few days of rest!" Wukong squinted at Deputy Director Liu.

"Director Cheng, didn't we agree beforehand that I wouldn't attend the press conference? Why did you call me here?" Deputy Director Liu whispered in Wukong's ear.

"Hehe, these reporters' questions are too tricky. I can't handle them alone. You'll have to deal with them. You're the person involved, so you have the most right to speak," Wukong said with a light laugh to Deputy Director Liu. Then, turning to the reporters, he loudly proclaimed, "Deputy Director Liu has taken the initiative to attend this press conference during this important time of his vacation. His spirit is commendable! Shouldn't we all applaud our Deputy Director Liu?" Wukong said, leading the applause.

However, the applause was only for Wukong; not only did the reporters not applaud, but even the police maintaining order remained unmoved. Deputy Director Liu felt a deep sadness. "Sigh, it's true what they say, 'Out of sight, out of

mind.' I've only been suspended for a few days, and these subordinates who used to try so hard to flatter me are already ignoring me. It's truly pathetic." "I...I'm so sorry I'm late today. Actually, I should have come earlier, because this is a good opportunity to clarify things. I have so much to say..." The dejected Deputy Director Liu forced a spirited opening statement.

"Get out! We don't want to hear your so-called explanations!" a reporter snapped.

"I...Although you don't want to hear me, I still have to say it..." Deputy Director Liu said, bowing humbly with a mournful face. A leather shoe came hurtling towards him like a cannonball, aimed straight for Deputy Director Liu's face. Years of police experience had given Deputy Director Liu a quick reflex; he tilted his head, dodging the shoe's attack.

"That shoe was a gift for the 200 million yuan in embezzled funds, and this shoe is for the person you innocently harmed!" The reporter who threw the shoe grabbed the other shoe and hurled it at Deputy Director Liu. Deputy Director Liu ducked, avoiding the attack.

The police tried to rush into the press area to arrest the reporter, but Wukong waved them off, saying, "Forget it, don't bother with him. It didn't cause any serious consequences anyway. Since the reporter declared these shoes were a voluntary gift to Deputy Director Liu, let's wrap them up and give them to him!"

The police actually wrapped the shoes in newspaper and gave them to Deputy Director Liu. Deputy Director Liu took them, smiled awkwardly, and said, "I can see clearly, these shoes are size 10, a perfect fit for me." Deputy Director Liu's audacity earned him a mocking laugh. The police, too embarrassed to laugh openly, turned away and chuckled secretly.

"Director Cheng, on what basis did the police deduce that these photos were computer-generated?" After the shoe-throwing incident subsided, the reporters' attention returned to the photos. One reporter, after looking at them, asked doubtfully. At this moment, Situ Yu stepped forward, holding her small cell phone. She said, "I can testify that these photos are all real, without any editing. The original photos are stored on this phone, and they were taken at Deputy Director Liu's house. Right, Deputy Director Liu? Do you still recognize the girl who came into your house to take photos that day? Luckily, you didn't snatch this phone back then, otherwise the reporters wouldn't be able to see such clear photos today."

Deputy Director Liu also recognized Situ Yu, and his face became even more unpleasant. He glanced at Wukong with a questioning look, wondering how this girl ended up here. What exactly was going on at this press conference? Had it turned into a display of my incriminating evidence? What tricks was Director Cheng, that old fox, playing?

Deputy Director Liu couldn't help but recall all his interactions with Director Cheng, but he couldn't think of any conflict of interest. Had he somehow offended him? Was Director Cheng trying to take this opportunity to eliminate him? Deputy Director Liu felt a chill run down his spine.

Situ Yu's phone was passed around among the reporters, and everyone believed that the photos online originated from this phone. Now, the reporters' focus was all on Wukong; everyone wanted to hear how 'Director Cheng' would explain.

Wukong asked casually, "Everyone has seen the photos, and the beautiful woman's phone too. What are your thoughts? Do you think these photos are real or fake?"

"They're real! Absolutely not fake!" the reporters said in unison.

“Well, everyone’s opinion is the same as some experts’. It seems the authenticity of these photos is still quite controversial. To be honest, our police consulted many experts about these photos, but their opinions were inconsistent; some said they were real, and some said they were fake, which confused me. I’ve looked at these photos several times now, and I have to admit that the police’s original conclusion was wrong. The amount of bribes and embezzlement by Deputy Director Liu should be far more than 350.4 yuan. Our police will conduct a more detailed investigation and strive to find out the exact amount of bribes and embezzlement within a week,” Wukong said solemnly.

Wukong’s words were like a boulder thrown into a calm lake, immediately creating countless ripples. The reporters’ section erupted in excitement, with discussions rising and falling incessantly. In such a short time, the police had actually overturned their conclusion—a truly dramatic turn of events. Meanwhile, Deputy Director Liu, standing beside Wukong, was deathly pale. The situation was so unexpected that his mind went blank for a moment before returning to normal. He jumped up, pointing at Wukong's nose and shouting, "You, surnamed Cheng, you're too ruthless! You think putting me in the spotlight will solve everything? Not so easy! I have evidence of corruption and bribery among many high-ranking officials. I guarantee you're not clean either! I'm going to file charges and expose your crimes! If we're going to die, we'll all die together! I spent 100 million on this case, and you, Director Cheng, didn't take a penny less. Why are you going back on your word and trying to kill me?"

Next, Deputy Director Liu, in a fit of emotion, revealed numerous pieces of evidence of corruption and bribery committed by high-ranking officials. He detailed the times, locations, and amounts meticulously, clearly confident in his abilities. The reporters were sweating profusely with excitement. The sudden exposure of so many scandals was like an atomic bomb being dropped on the political scene of Aolai Kingdom tomorrow. Even the most idiotic person could imagine the devastating impact.

"There are many more scandals, and I'll explain them all. Anyway, I can't live like this anymore, so I'll go all out. Haha, let's all die together! I'll have you, Cheng, to keep me company on the road to the underworld!" Deputy Director Liu wiped the sweat from his brow with his sleeve. He felt incredibly relieved after revealing the secrets buried deep in his heart.

"Hmm, whether what you said is true or not, our police will definitely investigate to the end. As for your claim that I also committed corruption and bribery, I reserve my opinion and will not comment for now," Wukong said.

"No comment? That's an admission! That Cheng guy isn't a good person either; we'll investigate him thoroughly!" some reporters said indignantly.

"Yes, investigate thoroughly!" other reporters echoed.

"As for Deputy Director Liu hiring someone to injure someone, with witnesses and physical evidence, it's basically a fact. The police have classified this case as intentional injury, and Deputy Director Liu will face criminal charges. Alright, today's press conference has been going on for quite a while, so it's over. I won't answer any more questions. Please pay attention to police announcements if you have any questions." Wukong was a little afraid of the reporters' questions, so he hastily ended his speech.

Although they were still unsatisfied and had many questions, the reporters were satisfied. They had obtained so much explosive news, and they should be content. The reporters all got up and left, rushing back to their hotels to write their articles. Deputy Director Liu was taken away by the police. As he left, he glared at Wukong with fiery eyes, as if he wanted to devour him whole. This was exactly the effect Wukong wanted. He smiled and patted Deputy Director Liu on the shoulder, saying, "Take it easy, what bad luck you have! Hahaha."

"Hmph, your good days won't last long either, I swear!" Deputy Director Liu said through gritted teeth.

The other reporters left one after another. Situ Yu and Yang Ru smiled at Wukong, unsure whether to approach him or leave.

Wukong used his telepathic ability to speak to them, saying, "Xiao Ru, take Xiao Yu to the hospital to visit your father. I have some things to take care of, I'll meet you at the hospital later."

Hearing Wukong say this, Situ Yu and Yang Ru left with peace of mind.

Chapter 383 Tang Sanzang Spreads the Dharma at Huagai Temple (Final Chapter)

Wukong stirred up the political scene in Aolai Kingdom, greatly improving the corruption in Aolai's officialdom. Yang Ru's reputation for not fearing power was also spread among the people during this incident. Considering Yang Ru's current situation—she had offended many powerful figures—Wu Kong feared that if he and Situ Yu returned to China, Situ Yu would face retaliation from these powerful individuals. Therefore, he decided to persuade Yang Ru and her parents to immigrate to China. He shared this idea with Situ Yu, who strongly supported it and helped Wu Kong persuade Yang Ru.

Having experienced two perilous life-or-death situations, Yang Ru began to consider how to provide her parents with a stable living environment. So, after repeated persuasion from Wu Kong and Situ Yu, Yang Ru finally agreed to immigrate to China. The next step was to complete the formalities. Given the Situ family's connections in China, the relocation procedures were quickly completed. Not long after, Yang Ru's entire family moved to Lingwang City, purchased property near the Situ family home, and settled down happily. Yang Ru quit her 'high-risk' job as a reporter and became a white-collar worker at the Situ family's Huanyu Group. She went to and from work with Situ Yuliu and Yueyue every day. Anyone unaware of their relationship would surely mistake them for sisters, given their close interactions.

Tang Sanzang and his companions weren't idle either. They rejected Wukong's suggestion to build a temple overnight and instead hired a large number of laborers to construct the temple on Huagai Mountain, sixty miles from the center of Lingwang City. Of course, most of the construction money came from Situ Nan's voluntary donation. This served two purposes: accumulating merit for himself and his descendants, and providing jobs for over a hundred laborers—a win-win situation. Therefore, Situ Nan was very happy to donate.

Tang Sanzang personally supervised the laborers every day. The blueprints were drawn based on images that appeared in Tang Sanzang's dreams. Fearing the laborers might alter the blueprints, Tang Sanzang personally inspected the site daily, always insisting on having Wukong accompany him.

In less than six months, a magnificent temple stood atop Huagai Mountain. The plaque, personally inscribed by Tang Sanzang, prominently displays the three large characters "Huagai Temple." Even Zhu Bajie, who had no interest in calligraphy, loudly praised it. Huagai Temple faces south and is a rectangular courtyard covering over fifty acres. Outside the temple gate, to the south, there is a stone archway, a release pond, and a stone arch bridge, with green spaces on either side. The temple's main gate consists of three arched gates arranged in a row, representing the three gates of liberation. Tang Sanzang explained that these are the gates of Nirvana, symbolizing the Buddhist "gates of liberation" of emptiness, formlessness, and non-action.

The main buildings, including the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Great Buddha Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of Reception, and the Vairocana Pavilion, are all arranged along a north-south central axis. The entire temple layout is orderly and its style is ancient and simple. Ancient trees provide shade within the grounds, and fallen petals add to the serene atmosphere of this Buddhist paradise.

Entering through the main gate, one arrives at the first hall of Huagai Temple: the Hall of Heavenly Kings. The Hall of Heavenly Kings is five bays wide and three bays deep, surrounded by a cloister. The roof ridge bears the inscription "May the winds and rains be favorable" and the rear ridge "May the nation be prosperous and the people at peace." Inside the hall, on either side are clay sculptures of the Four Heavenly Kings. In the central niche is a lifelike smiling Maitreya Buddha.

Behind the Hall of Heavenly Kings is a large Buddha Hall, with the inscription "May the Buddha's light shine everywhere" on the front ridge and "May the Dharma wheel turn eternally" on the rear. In the center of the hall are three statues: Shakyamuni Buddha in the center, Mahakasyapa on the left, and Ananda on the right. Beside them are Manjushri Bodhisattva holding a scripture scroll and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva holding a ruyi scepter. Behind the Shakyamuni Buddha statue is a statue of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva. Inside the hall is also a striking large bell, tall and heavy, decorated with coiled dragon patterns and inscribed with the words "May the winds and rains be favorable, and may the nation be prosperous and the people at peace."

Behind the Great Buddha Hall is the Mahavira Hall. In front of the hall is a platform; it is the largest hall in the temple. Inside the main hall, a large, gilded, and carved niche houses statues of the Three Buddhas: Shakyamuni Buddha of the Saha World in the center, Bhaisajyaguru Buddha of the Eastern Pure Land of Lapis Lazuli on the left, and Amitabha Buddha of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss on the right. Before these three Buddhas stand statues of the two guardian deities, Skanda and Weili, holding ritual implements. On either side are eighteen statues of Arhats, each with a distinct expression and handsome features. These eighteen Arhats were created by layering lacquer and hemp silk onto a clay model, then removing the clay to form the statues. This "molded lacquer" technique, known as the dry lacquer technique, is considered the finest example of the temple's sculptures. Behind the main hall, the walls are neatly arranged with over five thousand miniature Buddha images. Behind the

main hall is the Hall of Reception, which enshrines the Three Western Saints. In the center is a standing statue of Amitabha Buddha, to the left is Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva holding a vase, and to the right is Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva holding a mani jewel.

The Vairocana Pavilion, the last Buddhist hall in Huagai Temple, is situated on the Qingliang Terrace and is part of a courtyard-style architectural complex. Inside the pavilion, at the center, stands a brick platform with a wooden niche containing a statue of Vairocana Buddha, flanked by Manjushri on the left and Samantabhadra on the right. These three Buddhas and two Bodhisattvas are collectively known as the "Three Saints of Huayan" in Buddhism.

To the southeast of Huagai Temple stands a tall pagoda called the "Star-Picking Pagoda," a square, multi-eaved brick tower soaring into the clouds. Each level has an arched doorway on the south side, allowing visitors to climb and enjoy the panoramic views. The layout and grandeur of Huagai Temple greatly impressed Wukong, Bajie, and the others, who expressed their admiration for their master Tang Sanzang's superb design.

"Master, you're truly amazing! You could start your own architectural firm!" Bajie flattered as always.

"Is that so? This is a masterpiece born of a flash of inspiration from me, a moment that appeared in a dream one night," Tang Sanzang said with a smile.

After Huagai Temple was built, Tang Sanzang, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujing, and the Eight Heavenly Dragon Horses all lived there. Every day, besides chanting scriptures and discussing doctrines, they also had to listen to Tang Sanzang explain the meaning of the scriptures to the pilgrims who came seeking his venerable teachings. Such days were somewhat dull, not much different from those at Leiyin Temple. Zhu Bajie became a bit restless, constantly muttering under his breath like a complaining woman, which often drew teasing from Sha Wujing.

Because Tang Sanzang's sermons were so skillful, and because villagers frequently saw the Buddha's light appearing at Huagai Temple at night, the temple quickly became famous throughout China, becoming a renowned temple with flourishing incense offerings.
