Virtual sex

Virtual sex refers to sexual pleasure and satisfaction achieved through communication tools such as telephone, text message, online chat, and audio/video, without actual physical contact, using text, sound, or images for stimulation. Virtual sex itself is not a pathological behavior, but excessive reliance on it to satisfy sexual desires can lead to "virtual sex addiction," causing harm to real life.
Adolescents, whose sexual awareness is just beginning to emerge, are a high-risk group for "virtual sex addiction." On the one hand, as individuals enter puberty, their physical and mental development naturally leads to curiosity, impulses, and fantasies about the opposite sex; on the other hand, social culture and moral norms require individuals to suppress sexual impulses. In this context, the internet, with its relative safety and anonymity, becomes a way for adolescents to explore sexual knowledge and release sexual impulses. Some adolescents may experience some form of virtual sex by chance. Sexual experiences trigger the release of various neurotransmitters in the brain, such as dopamine and endorphins, leading to highly excited and pleasurable experiences similar to those experienced in romantic relationships. However, such stimulation and experiences are often too intense for adolescents, frequently causing them to become addicted and unable to extricate themselves.
Adolescents have not yet developed mature sexual and moral values. Therefore, after engaging in virtual sex, similar to masturbation, they often experience feelings of shame, guilt, and self-blame, which can negatively impact their studies, interpersonal relationships, and mental well-being. The sexual urges induced by virtual sex may also lead adolescents to the brink of crime. Even for adults, becoming addicted to virtual sex can negatively affect their real-life interpersonal relationships and normal marital relationships.
Virtual sex itself isn't inherently evil, but if it negatively impacts work, studies, interpersonal relationships, or romantic relationships, it may have transformed from a moderate form of enjoyment into an addiction. Addicts should first reduce their internet time; secondly, they should spend more time with their partners or participate in real-life social activities. For teenagers, schools should provide sex education while encouraging normal interactions and friendships between the sexes, helping them focus their attention on their studies. If the addiction is severe, they should seek help from a professional psychologist. Virtual sex isn't a good thing. Of course, moderate virtual sex can be very stimulating.
However, there are too many online scams. It's not advisable to do so without knowing the other party's motives.
Furthermore, virtual sex ultimately relies on masturbation to satisfy needs, which can cause harm over time. The existence of virtual sex suggests it has its reasons, offering some relief for couples living apart. However, the problem is that young people may be negatively impacted, affecting their studies or other aspects of life. This is an unregulated issue, relying solely on self-discipline. Cybersex involves masturbation through suggestive language and online video tools. It doesn't involve physical contact or reveal one's true identity, thus eliminating the shyness often associated with real sexual encounters and providing a safe space for "unsafe" individuals. Simultaneously, the partners in cybersex are uncertain and not exclusive, offering a constantly changing "novelty." This combination of "safety" and "novelty" makes cybersex addictive. However, it's important to understand the significant harms of virtual sex online, such as:
The stimulation and convenience brought by virtual sex will allow addicts to escape reality and become addicted to the virtual sexual world for a long time. People will develop a psychological aversion to real sex, which will lead to disharmony in their real-life married life.
Furthermore, from a health perspective, virtual sex is more likely to cause harm than real-life sex. Prolonged sexual arousal can lead to prolonged congestion and swelling of the prostate gland, as well as edema of the interstitial tissues, potentially causing non-bacterial prostatitis and even sexual dysfunction. Similarly, women may experience a range of gynecological inflammations, which in severe cases can lead to infertility.
