The karmic consequences of sexual misconduct—check them against your own behavior to see if they apply to you.

Sexual misconduct refers to sexual activity with someone other than one's spouse, masturbation, reading or distributing pornography, abnormal sexual behavior, sexual activity with someone other than one's wife or a virgin, or sexual activity in a temple or Buddhist hall. Specifically, sexual misconduct includes the following: one-night stands, prostitution, extramarital affairs, masturbation, lustful thoughts, homosexuality; escort services in the entertainment industry; homosexuality; pornographic performances; watching pornographic performances; speaking vulgar language and telling dirty jokes; viewing pornographic images and films; verbal or physical sexual harassment; wearing revealing clothing; sexual intercourse between spouses; and the production, dissemination, circulation, and exchange of pornographic information, such as filming pornography, writing pornographic novels, selling pornographic DVDs, operating pornographic websites, and "sharing" pornographic messages with friends.
The karmic consequences of sexual misconduct: 1. It severely depletes one's blessings, causing a decline in one's deserved status and wealth. Some people have excellent fortune according to their birth charts, but their actual lives are often unsatisfactory. This is often because they have depleted their blessings through filial impiety or sexual misconduct. A person's blessings are like a bucket; sexual misconduct is a hole in the bottom of the bucket, and no matter how much blessing one has, it will all leak out. Especially promoting sexual misconduct online, because it affects so many people, causes a tremendous and extremely rapid depletion of blessings. In the internet age, it is easy to do good, and it is easy to do evil.
2. It damages one's noble character. A person who engages in illicit sexual activity lacks dignity and is looked down upon by others, easily becoming despised wherever they go.
3. Things don't go smoothly. There are many obstacles in doing things. Even things that seem to be going well will fail because of sexual misconduct, and the failures are often inexplicable.
4. Lacking self-confidence and upright character. Afraid to meet superiors, afraid to enter temples, afraid of ghosts and spirits, afraid of the dark, timid and insecure.
5. It damages one's spirituality. It leads to poor memory, extreme forgetfulness, forgetting things in the blink of an eye; mental fog, confusion, weak learning ability, and poor comprehension and judgment. In severe cases, it can cause insomnia and even mental health problems.
6. Dry, yellow hair, premature graying, poor skin, and looks older than one's age.
7. Poor physical function, lethargy, lack of energy, weak resistance to disease, and prone to illness. Weakness in strength, and back pain after walking only a few steps.
8. Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) are different from other diseases. The vast majority are related to sexual misconduct and drug use; they rarely occur without a reason. Ultimately, they are related to an impure mind. Even without engaging in prostitution, they may be related to other forms of sexual misconduct. Excessive indulgence in sexual activity cannot be prevented by safety measures; mistakes will always occur. Some STDs, such as genital warts and genital herpes, are very difficult to treat and may even be lifelong. Of course, if one does contract one, it's not entirely hopeless. All things in this world arise from the mind; the type of disease one contracts is closely related to one's state of mind. STDs are caused by sexual misconduct. If one can sincerely repent and completely abstain from sexual misconduct in behavior, speech, and thought, the disease becomes much easier to cure.
9. Severely depletes marital blessings, leading to an unhappy spouse. Everything has its predetermined course. Premarital indulgence depletes marital blessings, making it difficult to marry someone satisfactory or resulting in a poor marital relationship. You might attribute this to personality clashes, but these are superficial reasons. The root cause lies in the excessive depletion of your blessings. With less blessing in this area, an unhappy marriage naturally follows. No matter how secretly marital sexual misconduct is committed, it will cause problems in the marital relationship. Those with strong blessings in this area will experience varying degrees of disharmony and conflict; those with weak blessings will immediately face marital breakdown.
10. Unsatisfactory offspring. First, it can easily lead to infertility. People with too much sexual misconduct or who have worked in the sex industry have a much higher rate of infertility than the average person. Second, it can easily lead to offspring who are physically weak, unsuccessful, or even attract rebellious children.
11. Leading to abortion. Abortion is a grave sin involving murder, and its most direct retribution is damage to physical health and problems in romantic relationships. Many people who have had abortions have experienced this; after an abortion, relationships with lovers or spouses are prone to problems, leading to discord, arguments, and even breakups. These are just the initial retributions; the ultimate consequences are far more severe.
12. Inviting Misfortune. When a murder occurs, the police first consider whether it's a revenge killing, a crime of passion, or motivated by money. Sexual misconduct has consistently been one of the most significant causes of crime. Statistics released a few days ago show that 95% of the major cases investigated by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection were related to sexual misconduct, demonstrating its widespread influence and devastating consequences. We can also feel this in our daily lives: after engaging in sexual misconduct, we tend to lose money gambling, have accidents while driving, and encounter all sorts of bad luck.
13. In the next life, one will fall into the three evil realms. Those with light hearts will enter the heavenly realms, those with heavy hearts will enter hell, and those with liberated hearts will escape the cycle of reincarnation. Those who are controlled by lust are showing signs of an extremely heavy heart, and falling into evil realms is their inevitable fate.
