[Fantasy] A Eunuch Breaks into the Inner Palace (Complete) - 7

In Chapter 5 of Episode 2

, to open a restaurant, Li Xiaomin spent the night in Consort Chen's room. The next morning, while Consort Chen, exhausted from the storm, slept soundly with a sweet smile, Li Xiaomin had already obtained almost all of her savings and left satisfied.
Regarding the specifics, Consort Chen introduced her cousin, Chen Dexiu, to help him with the business. Li Xiaomin, under the guise of buying groceries, went out of the palace to meet him. Chen Dexiu, having read his cousin's letter, naturally dared not disbelieve it and flattered Li Xiaomin immensely.
In managing the restaurant, Li Xiaomin would provide the technical expertise, Consort Chen would provide the capital, and her cousin would provide the labor. They planned to acquire a restaurant in Jinling, with Chen Dexiu as the manager, striving to quickly establish a reputation and earn their first fortune.
Chen Dexiu, however, was a young man in his early twenties, always smiling and a very shrewd person. Within his family, though capable, he was not highly regarded by the elders despite being from a collateral branch. Fortunately, his cousin recognized his business acumen and used her own savings to open a restaurant, hiring him to manage it. Li Xiaomin was thrilled and eager to do his job well to showcase his talent.
That night, Li Xiaomin slipped out of the palace, changed into civilian clothes, and summoned Chen Dexiu, asking him to show him around Jinling City to see if there were any suitable properties to rent for a restaurant.
Chen Dexiu was astonished by his audacity, but Li Xiaomin remained nonchalant, casually mentioning his powerful connections in the court and palace, which intimidated Chen Dexiu, preventing him from asking further questions.
In truth, given Chen Dexiu's shrewdness, he wouldn't have easily believed him, but seeing how easily Li Xiaomin had left the heavily guarded palace, he realized that without powerful backers and a warrant to leave, it would have been impossible. Moreover, news of Eunuch Li Xiaomin's extraordinary feat in the Ghost Palace—breaking through and retrieving the Underworld Pearl—had already spread outside the palace. Chen Dexiu, having long heard of his reputation, was secretly astonished and couldn't help but look at the young eunuch with newfound respect, no longer daring to underestimate him.
Walking down the street, Li Xiaomin chatted with Chen Dexiu, explaining the money-making scheme he had painstakingly devised after seeing Qingling's books. He wanted Chen Dexiu to find some printing craftsmen to carve movable type, using copper and iron movable type as the foundation, to open a printing press and print bestselling novels and poems to sell and make money.
It turned out that after much thought, Li Xiaomin had discovered that those fictional historical novels weren't all fabrications; at least a few plot points could be directly used. Although he didn't understand the gunpowder formula or how to make paper, making it impossible to profit from manufacturing guns and selling paper, he was fortunate that while gunpowder hadn't been invented yet, high-quality paper already existed. If he could reveal the secret of movable type, he could start a publishing house without much initial investment. He could also simply retell a few passages from novels he'd read and print them to make money.
To craft the stories, he specifically instructed Chen Dexiu to hire several fast-writing, storytelling scholars to write down his tales; someone would surely buy them.
Chen Dexiu, though hesitant, couldn't disobey his father-in-law, a wealthy businessman, and readily agreed.
The two walked and talked through the night-shrouded streets, watching as lanterns were hung in the shops and houses, and the crowds in Jinling gradually thinned out.
Li Xiaomin recalled his last trip to the Qinhuai River. Before even reaching one of the pleasure boats, he was stopped by the Crown Prince's guards and prevented from fully enjoying himself. Therefore, he asked Chen Dexiu to accompany him to the pleasure boats.
Chen Dexiu was secretly surprised that a eunuch wanted to visit prostitutes, but then he understood: young people always have a playful nature, and wanting to go to the famous pleasure boats on the Qinhuai River was understandable. It was just a pity that someone as handsome as him was a eunuch and couldn't actually enjoy himself with those beautiful girls on the boats. Filled with sympathy, he readily agreed and led Li Xiaomin towards the Qinhuai River.
As they walked, they gradually came to a secluded spot. There were few pedestrians left; only the two of them were leisurely walking and talking, sketching out their blueprint for a future business empire.
Suddenly, a scream came from ahead. Li Xiaomin was startled and quickly went over, only to see an old man lying on the ground, blood flowing from his mouth, unable to move. A beautiful young woman lay on his body, sobbing uncontrollably. Beside her stood a richly dressed young man with a dozen servants, pointing at the old man and cursing him.
Li Xiaomin hurriedly stepped forward, bent down, and pressed the old man's pulse, only to find it had stopped; the old man's soul had long since been taken away by the spirit mediums.
Li Xiaomin cursed inwardly, "These spirit mediums, how could they act so quickly? I heard the screams and ran over, but the soul was already gone. Are they afraid I'd snatch the soul, so they acted even faster? Bah! If I were to snatch a soul, I'd only snatch a beautiful woman's soul, what use is this old man's!"
The girl was in unbearable pain, hugging the old man's body and crying loudly. Amidst her sobs, one could barely make out words like, "Grandpa, you died so tragically."
Li Xiaomin looked up at the young man, stood up, and cupped his hands, saying, "Young master, may I ask what exactly happened here?"
The man was neither ugly nor handsome, but his face was full of arrogance. Seeing that Li Xiaomin was dressed in plain clothes, clearly a commoner, he became impatient and pointed at him, shouting, "Who do you think you are, meddling in my business! Get out of here if you have nothing to do, or you'll get yourself into trouble!"
Li Xiaomin had only asked a question, but he didn't expect to be met with such angry words and threats, which startled him.
Chen Dexiu hurried over from behind, bowing and scraping, and said with a forced smile, "Young Master Wan, I was just passing by, please forgive me!"
Young Master Wan snorted, disdainfully pointing towards the distance on the main road, and said fiercely, "Get the hell out of here, don't get in my way!"
Chen Dexiu hurriedly thanked him, dragged Li Xiaomin aside, and whispered, "Your Excellency, these people are not to be trifled with! That Wan Zida is a relative of the Crown Prince, and has close ties with the Nine Cities Garrison, which is responsible for the security of the capital. He is very arrogant. Although Your Excellency comes from the palace, it would be best to give them some leeway. Besides, Your Excellency has left the palace without permission. If these people find out your identity and complain to His Majesty, I'm afraid there will be trouble!"
Li Xiaomin was dragged by him towards the Qinhuai River, frowning as he said, "What about that old man? Go and ask him for me!"
Chen Dexiu, unable to bear his urging, had no choice but to turn around and go to ask one of the servants who was lagging behind. Wan Zida's servant, who had initially been indifferent, reluctantly spoke up because of the silver slipped into his hand: "That old rascal playing the violin and singing for money was blind; he actually bumped into your carriage, young master. You just got back from arguing with someone on the pleasure boat on the Qinhuai River and were in a bad mood, so you just struck him with a stick and killed him."
Chen Dexiu thanked him with a smile and went back to give a brief account. Upon hearing this, Li Xiaomin was furious and shouted, "Outrageous! Killing an old man over such a trivial matter! Just who is this Wan Zida? Is there no one in Jinling City who dares to mess with him?" "Is this it?"
Chen Dexiu's expression changed drastically, and he hurriedly waved his hand, saying, "Please whisper, sir! If Wan Zida hears this, it will be another disaster!"
At this moment, Wan Zida had already grabbed the girl who was lying on the corpse and crying. He lifted her chin with his fingers and, seeing that she was beautiful, lewdly said, "You're quite a pitiful little thing. Come back with me, I'll treat you well and make sure you're comfortable!"
The girl refused to comply, crying loudly and pushing Wan Zida away forcefully, but Wan Zida held her tightly. In desperation, she slashed at Wan Zida's face, leaving several bloody marks.
Wan Zida was furious and slapped her hard, knocking her to the ground. He turned around, mounted his horse, and pointed at the girl on the ground, cursing, "You're asking for it! Tie her up and take her to the manor so I can properly discipline this wild girl! After I've had my fill, I'll reward you all with pleasure, everyone gets a share!" With
that, he spurred his horse to leave, leaving all these troublesome matters to the servants behind him.
The servants rushed forward, about to seize the man, when suddenly a dark shadow flashed before their eyes. A man blocked the girl's path, his face full of anger, shouting, "You are so vicious! You beat someone's grandfather to death, and now you want to take her back to rape her! Is it okay to just kidnap men and rape women in Jinling City?"
Chen Dexiu, hiding far away, stamped his feet in despair. Of course, ordinary people wouldn't dare to kidnap men and rape women so easily, but the Crown Princess's cousin was different. Now that they outnumbered him, even if they all rushed forward and killed Eunuch Xiaominzi, the Crown Prince would only have to say a few good words in the palace, and that would be the end of it. Eunuch Xiaominzi had gone to cause trouble himself; wouldn't that just bring disaster upon himself?
But seeing so many people surrounding Li Xiaomin, he couldn't help but feel terrified. He had no choice but to follow Li Xiaomin's instructions and carefully hide in the shadows, so that the servants wouldn't see him.
Wan Zida, already furious, saw the same young man trying to lift the beam again. Enraged, he pointed at Li Xiaomin and shouted, "You damned lackey! I let you go, but you're making a scene! Beat him!"
With that, he hurled a bloodstained short stick, which struck Li Xiaomin squarely on the nose with a thud.
Li Xiaomin, filled with righteous indignation and loudly condemning the crowd's tyrannical behavior, was caught off guard and struck suddenly. Blood immediately streamed from his nose; he clutched it, feeling a sharp, stinging pain, unable to speak.
Taking advantage of the situation, the group of thugs swarmed forward, brandishing knives, spears, and clubs, raining blows upon him.
Li Xiaomin, caught off guard from the start, was struck repeatedly on the head and body, his head spinning, almost collapsing to the ground.
As they beat him, the thugs hurled insults and vile curses. Even more ruthless thugs stepped forward, brandishing their knives, the blades flashing as they aimed straight for his chest.
Startled, the dazed Li Xiaomin hastily dodged the blade, kicking the thug who had thrust the knife to the ground. He then snatched a wooden club from one of the thugs, striking it hard and shattering the thug's skull. Blood splattered across his face as he clutched his head and screamed in agony.
After the initial shock, Li Xiaomin rallied his spirits, furiously swinging his club. The club swept out like a whirlwind, striking the thugs' arms, shoulders, and heads with a series of cracking sounds, causing them to cry out in pain and stumble backward, their weapons clattering to the ground.
Behind Li Xiaomin, the girl he shielded was terrified and panicked, clutching his clothes like a drowning person grasping at a last straw.
Wan Zida was furious, but fearing the power of the wooden stick in
Li Xiaomin's hand, he dared not step forward. He could only point at him and shout angrily, threatening to expose his past and exterminate his entire family, leaving no one behind. At this point, even if he wanted to let Li Xiaomin go, Li Xiaomin would not let him leave. He sneered, about to strike the man off his horse with his club, when he suddenly heard footsteps approaching from afar. Looking up, he saw a patrol of soldiers running quickly towards them. The officer at the head of the patrol shouted, "Who goes there? Fighting in Jinling City?"
A thug who was afraid of Li Xiaomin and had been keeping his distance hurriedly stepped forward, introducing himself and his group. The officer, startled by the sound, stepped forward, bowed to Wan Zida, and said with a forced smile, "So it's Young Master Wan here! This humble general, Huang Chong, greets you! Since Young Master Wan is here, there's nothing to worry about. I'll take my leave and visit you again another day!"
Normally, when Wan Zida and his thugs had killed or injured civilians and gained the upper hand, they naturally wouldn't want patrolling soldiers interfering. He had been preoccupied with his own affairs, but seeing the patrolmen arrive, he immediately perked up and shouted, "General Huang, you've come at the right time! There are two traitors over there, spouting blasphemous words of disloyalty and treason in the street, saying that when the Northern Zhao army arrives, they will turn Jinling City into a sea of fire! These two thieves must be spies sent by the Northern Zhao. General Huang, please lead your troops to capture them!"
Huang Chong was startled and looked up. He saw a handsome young man dressed in simple clothes, holding a wooden stick, his face full of anger, protecting a beautiful young woman. On the ground lay a dead man, his hair gray, his clothes tattered, and a huqin (a two-stringed bowed instrument) beside him, clearly dressed as a street performer. Not far away, dozens of servants, wielding knives and clubs, roared and shouted at the young man. Many of them were covered in blood, clearly having suffered a loss.
Huang Chong immediately understood and guessed that Wan Zida had failed in his attempt to abduct the woman, killing an old street performer, but this young man had defeated many of his servants. He was astonished. This young man looked frail, yet he managed to defeat so many people; it was quite an anomaly.
Although so many people were surrounding one person, making it clear who was good and who was evil, Huang Chong, thinking of his future, still drew his sword and roared, "What a bold spy! How dare you cause trouble in Jinling City! Men, seize him!"
"Stop!" Li Xiaomin shouted, his voice like thunder, causing the soldiers who had rushed forward to stop in their tracks.
He pointed at Wan Zida and roared, "This man robbed and killed people in the street, and you did nothing. I couldn't stand it and went to reason with him, and you arrested me instead!"
Huang Chong knew he was telling the truth, but he was unwilling to ruin his future for this commoner. If he could climb up to Wan Zida's coattails, he would have hope of rising to prominence. He immediately brandished his sword and shouted, "Nonsense! He's clearly a spy from Northern Zhao, trying to gather military intelligence. He was discovered by Young Master Wan and tried to kill him to silence him! Men, attack him! Kill or kill him!"
Wan Zida hurriedly shouted, "The boy's life or death doesn't matter, but the woman must be kept alive and interrogated to find out the truth!"
Huang Chong quickly revised his orders and yelled at the soldiers that the woman must not be harmed so that Young Master Wan could calmly interrogate these spies.
Seeing the soldiers swarming towards him with spears, Li Xiaomin laughed angrily, "So you're all in cahoots, committing murder in the street! This world is even darker than ours!"
If he swung his wooden club, breaking through the encirclement wouldn't be too difficult, but he wouldn't be able to protect the girl behind him. In a moment of crisis, Li Xiaomin grabbed the girl's wrist, dragging her forward, wildly swinging his wooden club, smashing down the servants blocking his way, until he reached Wan Zida's horse.
Wan Zida was loudly cheering, gesturing and directing his soldiers to seize Li Xiaomin so he could torture him to vent his anger. He was plotting to brutally abuse the girl all night, then have his servants kill her and throw her into the river to cover his tracks. Suddenly, he saw Li Xiaomin charging towards his horse with the girl, and in shock, he raised his whip and lashed it down on Li Xiaomin's head.
Li Xiaomin swung his wooden staff like the wind, about to shatter Wan Zida's wrist, when suddenly he heard a whoosh beside him. A spear pierced the air with extraordinary force.
Li Xiaomin was secretly startled. Without time to injure his enemy, he parried with his staff, striking the spearhead with a clang, deflecting the spear. Looking at the spear thrusting at him, he saw it was Huang Chong, who had been forced back several steps by Li Xiaomin's swift blow, his hands numb, staring at him in astonishment.
A riding whip lashed through the air, but Li Xiaomin dodged to the side, striking Wan Zida's shoulder with a snap, instantly tearing his clothes. Li Xiaomin swept his hand back, striking Wan Zida's waist with a thud, knocking him off his horse. The riding whip flew far away.
Li Xiaomin inwardly cursed his misfortune; if Huang Chong hadn't ambushed him from the side, diverting his attention, that blow would have either broken his wrist or left him paralyzed. Just as he was about to turn to the other side of the horse to deliver another blow to Wan Zida, a large number of patrolling soldiers had already surrounded him, their spears like a forest, countless spear tips gleaming coldly, as they thrust at him.
Li Xiaomin swung his wooden club swiftly, creating a clanging sound as he deflected the countless spear tips. He snatched a spear from his hand, wielding it wildly to force the soldiers back, then turned and embraced the girl, placing her on the horse. He continued to fight off the soldiers while mounting his own horse, holding the girl tightly, and spurred his horse to gallop away into the darkness.
The guards in that direction were all servants; seeing his spear wielded so skillfully, they dared not approach, only shouting in a show of bravado, watching helplessly as he escaped.
Wan Zida lay on the ground, trampled by the galloping horse, tears streaming down his face, his body curled up in agony, groaning in pain.
Li Xiaomin leaned against the headboard, his face bruised and swollen, silently letting the young girl he had just rescued apply medicine to his body.
The girl's pretty face was calm, occasionally a hint of sadness flashing across it, but she didn't cry; she simply quietly applied the medicine to Li Xiaomin's face and body.
The room remained silent for a long time before Li Xiaomin broke the silence: "What's your name? Where are you from? Do you have any relatives in Jinling?"
The girl trembled slightly, then bowed her head and said, "My name is Han Xin'er. I fled here with my grandfather from another place, making a living by singing. Today, I accidentally bumped into Young Master Wan's horse team in the street, resulting in my grandfather being beaten to death on the spot. Now I have no relatives to rely on. If it weren't for your rescue, I would have fallen into the tiger's den. I thank you for saving my life!"
She gracefully bowed, respectfully expressing her gratitude.
Li Xiaomin bent down to help her up. He noticed her delicate features, slender figure, and refined air, unlike that of an ordinary woman. He pondered, "Can you read?"
Han Xin'er nodded, "When I was young, my family was well-off, and I studied poetry and literature. Later, my family fell into ruin, and my hometown suffered a great disaster, forcing me to leave and come to Jinling City to find a way to survive."
Li Xiaomin sighed inwardly. Great calamities befell the world, and people were displaced; such things happened everywhere. Only the noble families and imperial relatives in Jinling City remained indulging in a life of pleasure, completely unaware that disaster was not far away.
Suddenly, the candle on the table flickered, and a cold wind swept through the air, making Han Xin'er feel chilled. A sense of fear arose within her, and she involuntarily leaned towards Li Xiaomin, as if only by his side could she feel safe.
A wisp of black mist appeared in the dark room, gradually condensing under the candlelight until it transformed into a burly, black-armored warrior. He knelt on one knee and gruffly said, "Greetings, Master!"
Li Xiaomin nodded and smiled, "General Sha, you've arrived! How is You'er?"
General Sha kowtowed, "The princess is well. She's currently in seclusion in the ruined palace, cultivating. She'll emerge to reunite with Master once she's initially refined the spiritual power bestowed upon her by the late Emperor."
This General Sha was the Twin-Hammer Demon who had fought him the other day. By order of Emperor Wu, he had sworn allegiance to You'er. Furthermore, under You'er's command, he, General Zeng, and the three hundred ghost guards no longer addressed Li Xiaomin as "Prince Consort," but as "Master," to satisfy Li Xiaomin's masculine pride.
This time, while cultivating in the ruined palace, striving to refine the spiritual power left behind by Emperor Wu, he suddenly received a message from Yue Niang, ordering him to take a hundred ghost guards and leave the palace to await Li Xiaomin's command.
General Sha dared not delay and hurriedly selected one hundred elite troops to leave the palace and search for Li Xiaomin. They found him in Li Xiaomin's newly rented house.
Li Xiaomin gently comforted him, telling him to get up and not to kneel on the ground.
Turning back to look at Han Xin'er, she was already terrified, hiding behind him, her trembling hands tightly gripping his clothes. Her gaze towards the kneeling demon was filled with fear, and she also showed a hint of awe and suspicion towards Li Xiaomin.
Inside the room, a pale red figure slowly emerged, gracefully bowing and softly saying, "Master, this servant has returned!"
Li Xiaomin calmly replied, "Very good, no need for formalities."
Yue Niang stood up, looking at Han Xin'er hiding behind Li Xiaomin, who was staring at her with frightened eyes. She couldn't help but cover her mouth and giggle, "Master, this little girl seems very scared!"
Li Xiaomin coughed lightly and asked General Sha, "Is everything ready?"
General Sha bowed and replied, "Reporting to Master, all one hundred ghost guards are ready to go!"
Li Xiaomin turned around and looked at Han Xin'er, seeing her large, dark eyes filled with fear and confusion as she quietly looked at him.
After a long silence, Li Xiaomin calmly said, "From now on, you will follow me, okay?"
Han Xin'er looked at Li Xiaomin, then at General Sha, and then at Yue Niang, hesitating and fearful, and did not answer immediately.
Yue Niang walked to her side, gently stroking her hair, and said with a coquettish smile, "Master is very lustful. With you by his side, I wonder if you can escape his clutches."
Li Xiaomin didn't stop Yue Niang from speaking, but simply said calmly, "If you don't want to, I'll send someone to take you away from Jinling and give you some money so you can live a peaceful life."
After saying that, he quietly looked at Han Xin'er, waiting for her choice.
He didn't have much time to discuss this matter with Han Xin'er; now he could only let her make her own choice before he led the Ghost Guards away.
Han Xin'er silently looked at his handsome face and calm eyes, then bowed deeply, respectfully saying, "This servant, Han Xin'er, greets Master!"
Approval appeared in Li Xiaomin's eyes. He slowly squatted down, reached out to support her thin shoulders, helped her up, and said gently, "Tonight, you can sleep here. I'll go out for a bit and come back tomorrow."
After saying that, he turned around, went downstairs, and resolutely left.
Recalling the two people he had encountered that day, a cold glint flashed in his eyes, radiating a chilling light in the pitch-black night.
Huang Chong led dozens of patrolmen along the road, pondering the day's events.
It was clear that Wan Zida had abused his power, but unfortunately, he had encountered a highly skilled young man. Huang Chong had saved Wan Zida's life, personally escorted him home, and even had a cup of tea at his house. He had thus ingratiated himself with the Wan family, and his future seemed limitless. Thinking of this, a smile involuntarily spread across his face.
However, the thought of the young man in plain clothes sent a chill down Huang Chong's spine, though he didn't know why.
The night was pitch black. As Huang Chong led his soldiers along this familiar patrol route, a sudden, intense fear gripped him, causing his body to tremble slightly.
Looking at the road ahead, Huang Chong waved for the group to stop. Staring into the darkness, his face twitched slightly, as if some unknown beast lurked there.
He waved for a soldier to take a torch and scout ahead. The soldier looked at him suspiciously, then obeyed, carrying the torch and heading in that direction.
The light gradually eroded the darkness. When the soldier reached the spot Huang Chong had pointed to, he turned back and shouted, "General, there's nothing here!"
Huang Chong breathed a sigh of relief, inwardly mocking himself for being such a timid patrol captain for so many years, now even afraid of the dark. Could it really be that boy's gaze that instilled such deep fear in him, affecting his mindset?
In the darkness ahead, the soldier suddenly let out a hoarse groan, swayed a few times, and then fell silent.
Huang Chong suddenly felt uneasy and called forward, "Since there's nothing here, come back quickly."
The soldier, torch in hand, head bowed, walked back step by step, stopped in front of Huang Chong, and remained motionless.
Huang Chong led his patrol forward, only to find the soldier blocking his way. Curious, he asked, "What are you doing? Why aren't you moving?"
The soldier slowly raised his head, revealing to Huang Chong a horribly grotesque face—blood streaming from all seven orifices!
A chill ran down Huang Chong's spine. He screamed, took a step back, gripped his sword hilt, and his teeth chattered.
Not only him, but all the soldiers around him saw their comrade's face—a familiar face stained with blood, bearing a strange smile, as if mocking these soldiers who daily oppressed the kind and fawned upon the powerful, leading themselves to their deaths.
Huang Chong gritted his teeth, struggling to suppress his fear, and said in a low voice, "Who are you? What do you want?"
A slight tremor crept into his voice. His eyes, and those of his soldiers, were fixed on the dead man, swords and spears in hand, ready to face any enemy attack.
The dead soldier smiled sinisterly, revealing his white teeth, and uttered a harsh, unpleasant voice: "Huang Chong, does it feel good to help the powerful oppress the common people?"
Huang Chong trembled violently, and after a long pause, managed to squeeze out a complete sentence: "Who are you? Are you that spy from earlier?"
A figure emerged from the darkness, the torchlight illuminating his handsome face, which bore a strange smile. Li Xiaomin slowly said, "That's right, you guessed correctly."
Huang Chong took a deep breath, drew his sword, and roared, "Playing tricks, hiding behind a dead man and pulling these little stunts! Men, kill him! Send his head to the Wan family for the reward!"
Although the soldiers were terrified, they relaxed, thinking it was just someone pretending to be a ghost to scare them. They raised their swords and spears, shouting as they charged forward, intending to surround Li Xiaomin and hack him to pieces.
General Sha, now possessing the body of a dead soldier, sneered coldly, "Want to harm our master? Let's see if my brothers will allow it!"
Suddenly, the howling of vengeful spirits echoed in the dark night sky, as if countless demons were roaring in the air. Dozens of soldiers trembled, fearfully raising their swords and spears, looking around anxiously.
A fierce wind swept in, overwhelming everything. The armored soldiers stood in the gale, shivering uncontrollably.
Suddenly, a soldier screamed, clutching his neck, his face contorted in agony, and collapsed, blood seeping from between his fingers, staining his armor and the ground crimson.
Before even seeing the enemy, they had already lost a comrade. The soldiers were even more terrified, raising their swords and looking around, but they could see nothing but the raging wind that nearly blinded them.
Another scream shattered the silence, followed by a chorus of screams as soldiers fell one after another, each struck fatally in a vital spot, dying instantly.
The remaining soldiers, unable to bear the constant fear of losing their comrades even when they couldn't see the enemy, turned and fled. But the vengeful spirits hidden in the howling wind showed no mercy. Under Li Xiaomin's cold, mocking gaze, the ghost guards, wielding ghostly blades formed from gathered spiritual energy, howled in the wind, using its momentum to pursue them relentlessly, slashing viciously from behind with invisible spiritual blades, decapitating the soldiers and sending them crashing to the ground, convulsing to their deaths.
Huang Chong didn't run; he was too terrified to move, staring blankly at Li Xiaomin before suddenly collapsing to his knees, his face deathly pale.
Li Xiaomin slowly walked to him, staring intently, a cold smile on his face, saying nothing.
Huang Chong looked up at the handsome young man, knowing his life was in his hands. He desperately suppressed his fear and stammered, "I deserve to die, sir! I beg you, sir, spare my life! I will repay your kindness with my life!"
Li Xiaomin shook his head slightly and smiled calmly, "I don't want to leave Jinling City now, so I don't want anyone to know what happened today. There's only one thing I can do now."
Huang Chong asked blankly, "What?"
"Silence him!"
Li Xiaomin turned and slowly walked into the darkness.
Behind him, a cracking sound rang out, followed by the sound of something heavy falling.
The first soldier killed by General Sha stood imposingly beside Huang Chong's corpse, a large sword in his hand. The blood on his face had dried, and his blood-covered, terrifying appearance seemed even more frightening than the vengeful ghost that had possessed his body.

In Chapter Six of Episode Two,

Wan Zida lay on his bed, his wounds throbbing with unbearable pain. He couldn't help but unleash a torrent of curses, hurling insults at Li Xiaomin and his ancestors for eight generations. He lamented that he hadn't caught Li Xiaomin; otherwise, he would have made him wish he were dead!
Beside the bed, an old man with a somber expression coldly watched from the shadows, seemingly deep in thought.
This old man was Wan Zida's father, Wan Hongfeng, the maternal uncle of the Crown Princess Wan, and the Imperial Censor.
He pondered for a moment, then asked Wan Zida, "Did you get a good look at what that person looked like?"
Wan Zida gritted his teeth and exclaimed, "I saw him clearly! He was fair-skinned, not very tall, and looked about fourteen or fifteen years old, but his hands were really fierce... Ouch, that hurts so much!"
Wan Hongfeng coldly said, "In your opinion, could he be one of Li Xu's men, sent to provoke us?"
Wan Zida shook his head and said, "I don't think so! I only remembered to go out today by chance, and I only chose that road on the spot. Who knew..." "You'll run into that blind old bastard, and if he bumps into me, I'll come right away! Besides, that old guy is so weak, one hit and his brains will spill out, making things really awkward! That kid was probably just passing by and saw the girl's beauty, so he wanted to pick her up and play the hero. If it were someone from Li Xu's side, they wouldn't be so reckless; even if they were provoking someone, they'd have a complete plan."
Wan Hongfeng snorted and coldly said, "Since that's the case, he's just a nobody with no connections, unaware of the prestige of the Wan family..." That's why he dared to provoke us. "Hmph, my Wan family has been officials for generations; we won't tolerate such a commoner running wild! Don't worry, I'll definitely catch that brat and hand him over to you to deal with. You can vent your anger however you like!"
Wan Zida's spirits lifted, and he shouted, "Good! As long as I catch him, I'll chop off both his hands first, then skin him alive, and see if he dares to challenge me again! By the way, should we ask my cousin-in-law to issue a warrant for his arrest to capture that brat?"
Wan Hongfeng shook his head. “His Highness the Crown Prince is weak-willed, and he was recently assassinated, falling ill from the shock. If you go to him for help, won’t that only frighten him more? Why don’t you go directly to the Nine City Garrison Command and describe the assailant’s appearance? Let them investigate. For the sake of the Crown Prince, they certainly won’t be sloppy.”
Wan Zida nodded and exclaimed, “Father’s idea is best! Hehe, after I catch him, I’ll skin him alive, pull out his tendons, force-feed him mercury—I’ll make him suffer every kind of torture!”
Just as he was speaking happily, the door suddenly opened. A dark figure stood motionless in the darkness outside.
Wan Hongfeng frowned slightly and said in a deep voice, "Who is it? Is it Lai Xi'er?"
The man stepped slowly into the room and said calmly, "The servants you brought are all lying outside and can no longer answer you."
Wan Zida suddenly sat up in bed, pointing at him and shouting, "So it's you, you bastard! Father, he's the one who injured me! Ouch!" But he twisted his waist from the exertion and fell back onto the bed, his bulging eyes filled with hatred as he glared at the enemy who dared to come to his door.
Wan Hongfeng stood up and, by the candlelight, carefully examined the fierce young man his son had described.
To his surprise, the young man did not look strong; in fact, he was rather thin. His handsome, fair face looked somewhat pale, and his expression showed no fear whatsoever. This made Wan Hongfeng secretly wonder how he had broken into his mansion and subdued his capable servants.
Although dressed in plain clothes, someone who could freely enter and leave a duke's mansion without fear of the mansion's power was certainly not an ordinary person. Thinking of this, Wan Hongfeng couldn't help but feel a little regretful; he shouldn't have supported his son in continuing to provoke this person.
Having experienced much in his life, Wan Hongfeng didn't show any fear. He cupped his hands and said, "May I ask who you are and what brings you here?"
Li Xiaomin smiled calmly, his gaze falling on Wan Zida, who was glaring at him from the bed, and coldly said, "Your son has been stealing men and women, committing murder and other crimes outside. Surely you, as his father, are aware of this?"
Wan Hongfeng's face showed embarrassment. Of course he knew about these things, but as a scion of a wealthy family, doing such things was only natural. He himself had done even more and more outrageous things when he was young, and no one dared to criticize him. He thought that once his son got older, he would get tired of these things and naturally stop doing them, so why bother?
However, someone with the ability to freely enter his residence, and who was said to have been able to break through the encirclement of dozens of soldiers alone, stood in front of him and made such accusations. Wan Hongfeng could not help but take it seriously and could only bow and say, "This is my oversight and lack of discipline. Tomorrow I will definitely punish the little dog severely according to family law to serve as a warning to the future."
Li Xiaomin showed a skeptical smile and said calmly, "No need. Tonight, you and your son can travel together."
Wan Hongfeng's expression changed, and he shouted, "How dare you speak so arrogantly in front of me! Guards, seize him!"
His voice was extremely loud, but no one answered.
Wan Hongfeng carefully bypassed Li Xiaomin, ran to the door, and shouted loudly. After a long while, no one answered him. The entire mansion was like a tomb, devoid of any life.
Wan Hongfeng's face finally turned deathly pale. His eyes darted around in their sockets, and suddenly Wan Hongfeng took large strides, fleeing into the darkness.
A powerful force pushed him forward, shoving him heavily into the room. He fell to the ground with a thud, his head hitting a table leg, almost knocking him unconscious.
Li Xiaomin turned to look at Wan Hongfeng, a cold, indifferent smile on his face, as if looking at a pathetic bandit who overestimated his abilities.
At this moment, Wan Zida had quietly gotten out of bed, enduring the pain in his waist, and raised the short knife he carried, ready to strike Li Xiaomin on the head!
A cold wind blew in, and Wan Zida suddenly felt a numbness all over his body. A huge iron hammer appeared out of thin air in front of him, smashing down heavily.
He was struck hard in the face, collapsing to the ground in agony, groaning, blood streaming down his face, his cheekbones caved in—he was almost beaten to death on the spot.
General Sha's figure materialized from thin air, gradually appearing in the room, and respectfully asked, "Master, what should we do now?"
Li Xiaomin coldly replied, "Kill them all! Not a single one of my wicked servants who sees me tonight can be spared!"
To continue developing his influence in Jinling City and prevent anyone from discovering his identity, he had no choice but to use ruthlessness to nip potential enemies in the bud!
General Sha nodded in agreement, then asked, "What about the women?"
Li Xiaomin hesitated, still unable to bring himself to kill them all. He sighed softly and said, "Kill all the strong men. Leave the rest to fend for themselves!"
The father and son lying on the ground felt a chill run down their spines. Wan Zida gritted his teeth and cursed, while Wan Hongfeng uttered pitiful pleas, crawling towards Li Xiaomin.
Li Xiaomin gave the two men a cold look, then turned and walked out of the room. Immediately afterward, two agonizing screams of impending death came from inside the house.
Standing at the door, Li Xiaomin looked into the darkness and stopped, unsure of where to go.
Yue Niang appeared before him at that moment, her materialized body nestled beside him, and she said with a sweet smile, "Master, these past few days I've been cultivating my spiritual power in the Soul-Gathering Jade. Have you felt lonely?"
Li Xiaomin then remembered and asked, "How's your spiritual power cultivation going?"
Yue Niang smiled and said, "I've refined some of the spiritual power I absorbed from that vixen, but I can't use it skillfully yet. I still need to cultivate diligently."
Li Xiaomin nodded and said, "Then go cultivate. Don't rush, and be careful not to go astray."
Yue Niang said with a sweet smile, "Thank you for your concern, Master. Cultivation isn't urgent. Please come with me, Master. There are some fun things over there!"
She grabbed Li Xiaomin's hand and dragged him through several courtyards to a huge warehouse. With a flick of her finger, the large lock on the warehouse door automatically disengaged.
At the gate, several guards, all armed with swords, lay motionless on the ground, their condition unclear.
Li Xiaomin pushed the gate open, stepped inside, and was stunned.
The storerooms were piled high with gold and silver; massive stacks of silver ingots dazzled his eyes.
He walked slowly over, picked up two large ingots, and clinked them together a few times. Listening to the sound, he nodded silently and breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that the problem of military expenses that had been troubling him was temporarily resolved.
Yue Niang smiled and led him on a tour, showing him the gold and silver treasures in several storerooms. Watching Yue Niang standing amidst the jewels, holding pearl jewelry and smiling happily, Li Xiaomin couldn't help but smile as well.
These treasures were now all Li Xiaomin's possessions. But where to store them was a pressing issue. If he were to put all this treasure in his old rented room, he feared that after filling it halfway, he wouldn't even have room to sleep.
After some consideration, he decided to visit Chen Dexiu that very night to ask him to help rent a courtyard to house his newly acquired windfall.
Although surprised by Li Xiaomin's late-night visit, Chen Dexiu remained calm. He thought for a moment and then told Li Xiaomin that his family owned many vacant houses. While he had no authority to dispose of them, he could request to rent them from their owners; it shouldn't be too difficult.
Li Xiaomin instructed him to handle the matter first thing the next morning and complete it within a day. He then left Chen Dexiu's residence and issued orders to General Sha.
Until Chen Dexiu found a new house, the property would be temporarily stored in the Wan family's treasury. To prevent the Wan family from discovering the trouble, Li Xiaomin ordered General Sha to set up a maze within the Wan family mansion, preventing any living person from leaving their room and forcing them to wander aimlessly through the illusions within. Anyone entering the mansion would be trapped in this maze, running back and forth without ever seeing the end.
At dawn, Li Xiaomin lay fast asleep in his room within the palace.
Before daybreak, he returned to his rented house, comforted Han Xin'er, left her some silver, and told her he had already collected her grandfather's body and that she shouldn't worry; however, he warned her that things might get tense outside for a while and she should try to stay out of the public eye to avoid any unforeseen events.
Then, he sneaked back into the palace, went to his room, and fell asleep immediately. That way, even if someone came to check, they would only see him sleeping in, and would have no idea that he had been out all night, doing some earth-shattering things.
Just as he was enjoying his sleep, he suddenly felt a slap on the head, and a clear voice rang in his ear: "Xiaominzi, get up quickly, come play with me!"
Li Xiaomin barely opened his eyes and saw the figure of a girl in red. Her spirited figure and beautiful face made him recognize that the one who disturbed his sweet dream was his sworn sister, Princess Changping.
Princess Changping, in high spirits, grabbed his ear and exclaimed, "Little Minzi, you haven't come to see me these past few days, making your sister so bored! Don't even think about escaping today, come play with me, and we have to have a good time!"
Li Xiaomin got up with a bitter face, looking at himself naked. Not wanting Princess Changping to see direct evidence that he wasn't a eunuch, he pleaded, "Princess sister, look at me like this, can you let me put on some clothes first?"
Princess Changping noticed his bare upper body, blushed, turned and walked out of the room, saying, "What's so interesting about that? Do you think I like to see that?"
Li Xiaomin grumbled under his breath as he got up, dressed, and followed her out.
He had no choice; if he wanted to stay in the palace, he had to go along with her. After all, she was still a powerful backer, preventing others from easily causing him trouble.
Following behind Princess Changping, watching her pass through the palace chambers and disappear into the distance, Li Xiaomin couldn't help but ask, "Princess, where are we going?"
Princess Changping replied without turning her head, "Don't worry, you'll find out soon. Also, don't call me princess, call me sister!"
Li Xiaomin sighed, thinking back to his previous world where he was a handsome young man. Now he had to call a fifteen or sixteen-year-old girl "sister." The world had changed, and so had people.
But at his current age, he was indeed younger than her, so calling her "sister" wasn't a loss. Besides, he had already thoroughly enjoyed her most precious and pure body; what did calling her "sister" matter?
Thinking of this, Li Xiaomin immediately felt a sense of balance. Stealing glances at Princess Changping's slender figure from behind, recalling their passionate encounter in bed, he couldn't help but swallow hard.
They had arrived at a palace chamber Li Xiaomin had never been to before. A young girl approached, her eyes lighting up at the sight of Princess Changping. She smiled and said, "Sister, what brings you here today?"
Behind her, palace maids bowed and paid their respects to Princess Changping.
Princess Changping smiled and said, "Sister, I've come today to introduce you to my newly adopted brother!"
She turned around, pulled Li Xiaomin, who was keeping his head bowed, and said with a smile, "This is my newly adopted brother, Xiaomin!"
The girl laughed, "Oh, isn't this the famous little eunuch who bravely stormed the Ghost Palace? Lift your head, let me see!"
Li Xiaomin, with a bitter face, reluctantly raised his head, looking pitifully at the beautiful girl before him.
Upon seeing Xiaominzi's true appearance, the girl froze for a moment, her expression changing drastically. Pointing at Li Xiaomin, she shouted angrily, "So it's you, you wicked fellow! This time, let's see where you run to!"
Princess Zhenping, sixteen years old, was in the prime of her youth, dressed in the solemn and magnificent attire of a princess formally conferred her title by the court. Her large eyes were filled with shock and anger as she stared straight at the young eunuch before her, almost unable to believe that the scoundrel who had dared to harass her was now standing so openly before her.
Li Xiaomin wore a bitter expression, unsure of what to do. Just now, behind Princess Changping, he had spotted Princess Zhenping at a glance, knowing that things were going terribly wrong, but there was nothing he could do. He could only lower his head and secretly pray that she wouldn't recognize him. However, what was bound to happen couldn't be avoided; he was recognized by this beautiful girl with a truly flat chest the moment they met.
Princess Zhenping, seeing his mournful face, immediately flew into a rage. Forgetting all about the elegance expected of a royal princess, she lunged forward, swung her fist, and with a resounding thud, smashed it into his eye socket, sealing his eye and knocking Li Xiaomin to the ground.
Li Xiaomin cried out, rolling on the ground in pain, clutching his eye, refusing to get up and accept Princess Zhenping's further instruction.
Princess Zhenping, however, wouldn't let him off the hook. Seeing his shameless, whining behavior, she grew even more furious, raised her jade-like foot, and kicked him hard in the buttocks.
She only managed two kicks before being forcefully pulled away. Princess Zhenping turned around angrily, only to see Princess Changping gripping her arm tightly, her cheeks flushed red, angrily shouting, "Sister, why did you hit my brother?"
Princess Zhenping, having hit someone, was now in tears, pointing at Li Xiaomin and sobbing, "He...he...he molested me!"
Princess Changping was stunned, exclaiming, "Sister, he was hiding behind me the whole time. I just pulled him forward, and you came over and hit him. I was watching the whole time; I didn't see him do anything!" Princess Zhenping
gritted her teeth and said, "Not this time, but last time, outside the palace..."
At this point, she suddenly realized something was wrong and quickly covered her mouth, but the words were already out and there was no time to hide them.
Princess Changping's eyes lit up, and she exclaimed excitedly, "What? You secretly ran out of the palace? Why didn't you call me? You're so unfair!"
Princess Zhenping blushed and said, "It wasn't that I deliberately hid it from you, but last time I forced Xiaozhao to take me out of the palace. I wanted him to bring someone else, but he was afraid the Imperial Concubine would be angry, so he absolutely refused. Even when I threatened to hit him, he just cried and shook his head, saying he would never dare to take you out. I had no choice but to go out of the palace by myself."
Princess Changping sighed dejectedly and murmured, "Too..." "Brother Zi is just so timid. Since we've already broken the palace rules, what's one more person to bring? By the way, is it fun outside?"
Princess Zhenping's eyes lit up with excitement at the mention of things outside the palace. She grabbed Princess Changping and laughed, "It's really fun! I've heard people say Jinling City is prosperous, but we've never been there before, even though we live there. This time, it's truly magnificent! Let me tell you where I went..."
The two women chattered away, completely forgetting about Li Xiaomin, who was lying on the ground pretending to be dead. The palace maids standing nearby were terrified, their faces pale. They lowered their heads, pretending not to know what they were talking about, but they couldn't help but look around, afraid that the princess's escape from the palace would be overheard and reach their masters' ears. Then they would be guilty of a crime they couldn't bear.
Seeing an opportunity, Li Xiaomin quietly got up and turned to slip away.
Princess Zhenping was engrossed in her conversation when she suddenly saw his retreating figure. Startled, she realized what she had been trying to do and angrily shouted, "You scoundrel, where do you think you're going?!"
Li Xiaomin froze, then turned around helplessly, his face ashen. He bowed and said with a forced smile, "Your Highness, I knew you couldn't bear to see me like this, so I dared not stay and anger you. I planned to go back and apply some medicine to reduce the swelling around my eyes."
Princess Zhenping looked up at his face and saw the large dark circles under his eyes, which looked quite comical. She couldn't help but burst out laughing.
She hurriedly covered her cherry lips, her face hardening, and scolded, "You lecherous scoundrel, how dare you lay a hand on this princess! Now that you've fallen into my hands, do you still think you can escape?"
Princess Changping was engrossed in listening to her talk about what happened outside the palace and was about to urge her to continue when she suddenly saw her turn back to look for Xiaominzi. She quickly spoke up for her, "Sister, he's a eunuch, how could he be a lecherous scoundrel!"
Princess Zhenping blushed, raised her hand and pointed at Li Xiaomin, her voice trembling with anger, "He's not a eunuch at all! He actually... touched me..."
Thinking of his glorious experience of forcibly kissing and groping Princess Zhenping, Li Xiaomin felt a surge of pleasure. He quickly lowered his head to hide the smile on his face, secretly pleased with himself, knowing that she wouldn't dare to say such a thing in public.
Princess Zhenping looked around and saw that she was surrounded by her trusted maids, but she was too embarrassed to reveal the truth about being harassed. She could only take Princess Changping's hand and say, "Sister, come with me."
She glared at Li Xiaomin and gritted her teeth, "You come too!" Leading Princess Changping, she headed towards her bedroom.
Li Xiaomin had no choice but to follow behind with a bitter face, desperately trying to figure out how to escape this unfavorable situation.
The three of them entered Princess Zhenping's quarters. Princess Zhenping refused to let the lecherous thief into her bedroom. She stood in the hall, ordering the palace maids to leave, before pulling Princess Changping aside. She glared angrily at Li Xiaomin and gritted her teeth, saying, "This little eunuch is incredibly cunning! He dared to take advantage of me when rebels were trying to assassinate me and the Crown Prince outside the palace!"
Princess Changping exclaimed, "So you were there when the Crown Prince was assassinated last time, sister! How were those people? Were they fierce? Was it dangerous?"
Princess Zhenping nodded and said, "Those people were really fierce. They seemed to be from the military."
Princess Changping cried out, "Who instructed them? What do they want?"
Princess Zhenping frowned and said, "They said something about the Prince of Luling..." She hurriedly stopped, but it was too late.
Princess Changping was both shocked and frightened, and cried out, "Xiao Xu wouldn't do such a thing! I know him best. He's straightforward and only knows how to fight and compete with others. He doesn't have so many tricks up his sleeve, and he certainly wouldn't be so vicious as to want to kill his own brothers and sisters!"
Princess Zhenping hurriedly took her hand and comforted her, "Good sister, I also know that Xiao Xu wouldn't do such a thing, so I asked Xiao Zhao to keep those assassins' words a secret from Father. Don't worry, I won't say anything about this. Besides, those assassins mostly wanted to sow discord between us brothers and sisters. How could you believe their lies?"
Princess Changping was both frightened and moved. She hugged Princess Zhenping's body, rested her face on her fragrant shoulder, and began to sob.
The two women embraced, and Princess Zhenping tried her best to comfort her younger sister, finally managing to stop her crying. When she looked up and saw Li Xiaomin, she was both anxious and angry, exclaiming, "Why are you going off-topic again! Sister, are you deliberately interrupting me?"
Princess Changping blushed, covering her mouth and laughing, "He was just concerned about your safety! Alright, now let's talk about Xiaominzi. How did he take liberties with you?"
Princess Zhenping also blushed, glaring angrily at Li Xiaomin, gritting her teeth, "That lecherous scoundrel saved my life among the assassins, but then he pounced on my horse and hugged me tightly..."
Princess Changping, halfway through hearing this, excitedly exclaimed, "How did he save you? Does Xiaominzi have such great skills? Tell me, what martial arts did he use?"
Princess Zhenping... Just as she was about to answer, she suddenly saw a smile creep onto Li Xiaomin's face. Annoyed, she slapped Princess Changping's hand and exclaimed, "Are you deliberately trying to lead me astray? We're talking about serious matters, and you keep interrupting with random things!"
Princess Changping covered her mouth and laughed, "When people hear about martial arts masters, they can't help but want to hear more. Okay, continue. He hugged you tightly, and then what did he do to you?"
Li Xiaomin chuckled inwardly, thinking, "This is nothing. In our time, the spammers on online forums were far more skilled than Princess Changping! They could steer any topic completely off-topic!"
Princess Changping composed herself, wanting to continue, but suddenly found herself speechless.
Li Xiaomin knew she couldn't say it; even to her own sister, it was difficult to say such things. Although she wanted to laugh, she dared not laugh out loud, and could only bite her lip hard and lower her head deeply.
Princess Zhenping stammered for a long time, still unable to recount the details of what had happened. Seeing Li Xiaomin standing before her, feigning innocence, she felt both ashamed and angry. She pounced on him, grabbing him and striking him hard on the head
with her small fists. These punches wiped the smile off Li Xiaomin's face. He looked up, his face full of innocence, and cried out, "Your Highness, I won't complain if you hit me, but I'm truly innocent! The palace is heavily guarded; I'm just a eunuch. How could I possibly have the ability to leave the palace at night to do such a wicked thing?"
Princess Zhenping was taken aback. Thinking about it, she realized he was right. Princess Changping jumped over, took her hand, and exclaimed, "Sister, let's find out the truth before we speak! Don't hit the wrong person! Xiaomin is honest and obedient, and he's a eunuch. How could he possibly do such a lecherous thing?"
Li Xiaomin nodded repeatedly, blinking his innocent big eyes, looking at Princess Zhenping with naivety, hoping she would see the truth and not be blinded by hatred.
Princess Zhenping took a deep breath, lowered her fist, and began to interrogate Li Xiaomin about what he had done in the palace that day.
Li Xiaomin recounted his events from beginning to end, mostly lies with very little truth. However, he vehemently denied it, only saying that he went to sleep as soon as night fell. The two women had no way to verify the truth, since Xiaomin always slept alone in his room. Could they expect the palace maids to check on the eunuchs at night?
Princess Changping tried to support her, but later, Princess Zhenping herself began to wonder. Could people really look alike? Could there really be people in the world who looked so alike?
Thinking back, it was dark that day, and she could only make out his face by the moonlight. She wasn't sure what he looked like, how tall he was, or whether he was fat or thin. But that hateful smiling face had been hanging in front of her for days, making her both angry and hot-blooded. When she saw this very similar face just now, she couldn't help but jump out and punch him. But when she realized she had hit the wrong person, she couldn't help but feel very embarrassed.
Li Xiaomin, with a mournful face, tried his best to appear innocent, repeatedly saying, "I shouldn't look like that lecherous thief, it's all my fault! I don't resent the princess hitting me, I only hate that lecherous thief for committing such an evil deed, for using such underhanded means to defile the princess's purity! If I ever see someone who looks like me in the future, I will not listen to his nonsense, I will step forward and end his life with one stroke, and bring his head to the princess so that she can vent her anger!"
Princess Zhenping was both ashamed and angry at his absurd words. Later, she couldn't help but grit her teeth and laugh, "You little eunuch, you don't know the difference between right and wrong. He has such good martial arts skills, yet you can't even beat me, how could you possibly be his match?"
Li Xiaomin raised his head and shouted passionately, "For the princess, I will risk my life, shed my blood, climb mountains of knives, and descend rivers of fire!" "He'll do anything, even in a sea of fire! If I'm not as skilled, I'll be killed by him. But if you want me to spare him, I can't do that!"
Princess Zhenping was moved. Seeing that he not only didn't blame her for torturing him but also swore to avenge her, she couldn't help but sigh and say softly, "It's truly admirable that you have such loyalty."
Princess Changping was also moved, but couldn't help feeling jealous. She pouted and said, "You're so loyal to your sister, what about me? Would I be willing to do these things for you too?"
Li Xiaomin looked at her pouting cherry lips, warm and red, as if she were asking for a kiss. His heart skipped a beat, and he hurriedly laughed, "If my sister is in trouble, I will of course be there without hesitation, even if it means going through fire and water!"
The two women covered their mouths and giggled, not taking the frail little eunuch's promise seriously. Princess Changping, curious, inquired why his martial arts were so poor. Li Xiaomin casually covered it up, saying that his magical arts were inherited from his family, only effective in defense against demons, and he hadn't learned many offensive magical arts. He had also rarely practiced martial arts, so he could only deal with ghosts, and was no match for human warriors.
Upon hearing this, Princess Changping was eager to teach him martial arts. She and her brother Li Xu had practiced martial arts under their mother's tutelage since childhood, considering themselves martial arts masters; teaching this little eunuch would be a piece of cake.
Li Xiaomin hurriedly declined, saying he was currently at a crucial stage in practicing magical arts. If he passed this stage, he wouldn't be afraid of any ghost, at least he would be able to protect himself, and he simply didn't have time to practice martial arts. Princess Changping then gave up, but was also quite disappointed.
The misunderstanding cleared up, the two women went out hand in hand, called for the palace maids to fetch the zither, and the two women casually played, discussing music and poetry.
Li Xiaomin, however, was getting sleepy listening to the conversation and couldn't help but lower his head and doze off. He hadn't slept all night and had been woken up by Princess Changping in the morning, so he was incredibly tired. He
fell asleep standing up, head down. He didn't know how long he slept when a sudden pain shot through his head. He opened his eyes and saw Princess Changping standing in front of him, gently rubbing the large bump on his head while exclaiming, "My goodness, this is the first time I've ever seen someone fall asleep standing up! Xiaomin, you're truly amazing!"
Li Xiaomin thought disdainfully, "Hmph, once I master immortality, I'm omnipotent. What's so special about sleeping standing up? In the future, I'll be sleeping while flying in the sky!"
Princess Changping also came over and smiled, "Xiaomin, do you know anything about the arts of music, chess, calligraphy, and painting?"
Li Xiaomin had no desire to discuss these matters with them, and promptly cut off their chance to continue: "I barely know any characters, how could I possibly understand these things? As for the poems the two princesses just mentioned, I couldn't understand them at all, as if they were gibberish. That's why I fell asleep, please forgive me, Your Highness!"
Princess Zhenping commanded, "Come, grind the ink for me, I want to write a few lines of calligraphy."
Li Xiaomin stood by the table, grinding the ink in the inkstone, watching Princess Zhenping roll up her spring robe sleeves, revealing her delicate wrist, pick up the brush, dip it in ink, and write a few lines of poetry on the snow-white Xuan paper in one stroke. He couldn't help but yawn inwardly.
Princess Zhenping had been watching him closely. Seeing his bored expression, she asked, "Little Minzi, do you recognize what's written here?"
Without a second thought, Li Xiaomin shook his head vigorously, saying, "I can't read, so I can't tell what the princess is writing."
Although he didn't know much about calligraphy, he could tell she was writing a few lines from a Han Dynasty folk song, which Qingling had lent him a few days ago. However, he truly couldn't tell if the calligraphy was good or bad. He secretly planned to ask Qingling to teach him calligraphy when he got back; he was destined for great things, and he couldn't afford to have ugly handwriting and become a laughingstock.
Princess Zhenping, seeing his rudeness, ignored him and continued talking with her sister, discussing poetry and songs, until nearly noon when they finally parted ways happily.
Princess Zhenping stood at the entrance of her bedchamber, looking at the young eunuch following behind Princess Changping. Although she felt his martial arts skills were far inferior to that of the man in question, the familiar voice and striking resemblance to the handsome lecher fueled a deep-seated suspicion in her heart
