"Little Deer" - Chapter Ninety-One: Police Station Bailout

Xiao Qin held him down firmly. Seeing that the man was unable to struggle and could not move, he called over the two bank men who had been hesitant to approach earlier to come and hold him down. Perhaps influenced by Xiao Qin, the two men became bolder and together they subdued the man.
Xiao Qin let go of his hands, straightened his clothes which weren't dirty at all, and walked towards Liang Lu. When Nick saw Xiao Qin again, his attitude was somewhat different; it wasn't so much gratitude as it was a look of newfound respect.
Liang Lu hadn't expected that Xiao Qin would eventually bring the chaos under control. Thinking back to the drunkard's ferocity and her own near-rush, she felt a chill of fear. It was all thanks to his intervention; otherwise, the chaos would have only gotten worse and more people would have been hurt.
With that thought in mind, her attitude softened considerably, and she asked with concern, "Are you alright? Thank you so much for earlier, I'm so grateful to you."
Xiao Qin was initially a little angry when he saw that she was genuinely concerned about Nick, but when he saw her looking up at him and speaking with undisguised worry in her eyes, he suddenly lost his anger.
How long has it been since I heard her speak to me so gently? This little favor was definitely worth it.
Xiao Qin glanced at her a few more times, wanting to say, "How can you know if I'm alright if you don't check me?" Then he looked at the chaotic crowd around him and finally just gave a faint "Mmm," saying, "I'm fine."
The hotel security guards arrived quickly. They seemed to be used to this kind of scene. They quickly lifted the drunk man up and dragged him out of the private room, handing him over to the police when they arrived.
Liang Lu thought that was the end of it for them, but then the police arrived and asked everyone involved in the fight to go to the police station to give statements.
She turned to look at Xiao Qin with concern. Xiao Qin was also annoyed, but seeing her like this, he couldn't help but feel better. He gave her a look that said not to worry, and took out his phone to call Zhou Feng.

Because Xiao Geng, the eldest son of the Xiao family, was a troublemaker who frequently caused trouble and ended up in jail, the Xiao family was very experienced in dealing with the police and getting people released. Zhou Feng thought that Xiao Qin had called him over to have someone contact his superiors to save him a trip to the police station. However, Xiao Qin simply handed him the car keys, told him to drive the car to the police station and wait outside, and then cooperated fully as he was escorted away by the police.
Nick was also involved in the fight and was taken to the police car by the police.
Liang Lu watched the car disappear into the distance and began to worry. She wasn't worried about Nick, because he was the victim and would surely be alright. She was worried about Xiao Qin, since he was the one who had inflicted the injury, and that kick looked quite forceful. Zhou Feng's words were almost identical to Xiao Qin's instructions to her before he got into the police car, but the more he said this, the more guilty and worried Liang Lu felt. She knew Zhou Feng wouldn't just leave Xiao Qin at the police station and would go with him, so she asked, "Are you going to the police station? I'm still worried... My boss, could you give me a ride? I want to go see him too. After all, he's a foreigner, and I can't just leave him behind."
Zhou Feng could tell that Liang Lu was anxious. After she got into the car, he couldn't help but comfort her again, but she just nodded silently, it was unclear whether she had listened.
During the period when the parties involved are detained for questioning or investigation, no outsiders or relatives are allowed to visit them.
Liang Lu and the others couldn't go inside to check, so they could only wait outside. Time passed by, and the night grew deeper, almost until dawn. Perhaps due to excessive worry leading to exhaustion, coupled with a day's work, Liang Lu began to feel sleepy. Just as she was drifting off to sleep, she heard Zhou Feng's phone ring. Liang Lu snapped awake and heard Zhou Feng say, "Yes, the car is right outside."
"Yes..." Liang Lu asked. Zhou Feng knew she was worried and said, "It's our General Manager Xiao. He's out now, with General Manager Rui. He's fine, don't worry." General Manager Rui was what some employees in the company called Nick in private, because it was a homonym that was easy to pronounce.
Hearing Zhou Feng say this, Liang Lu felt relieved and got out of the car with him, waiting for the two to come out. After a while, two tall and handsome figures appeared at the entrance of the police station and walked side by side towards the car.
The night wind was a bit sharp. Xiao Qin was talking to Nick with his head tilted to the side, casually smoothing the corner of his clothes that had been blown by the wind. Then he turned his head and saw Liang Lu standing by the car, looking a little haggard. His expression paused for a moment, but he unconsciously quickened his pace, his eyes never leaving her.
As Liang Lu watched him slowly approach, her heart suddenly raced. At the same time, she marveled inwardly at the man's composure. He had just stepped out of the police station, yet he showed no embarrassment or panic, remaining as calm and collected as ever, as if he had just strolled through a teahouse. She wondered what kind of cultivation had given him this composure.
Feeling embarrassed by Xiao Qin's gaze, Liang Lu lowered her head and pretended to fix her hair to hide her shyness. Little did she know that the night wind blowing through her hair amplified her bashfulness, making it clear to the man walking towards her, who couldn't help but smile.
Before Liang Lu could even speak, Zhou Feng spoke first, greeting Xiao Qin and then Nick. He even spoke kindly to Nick, showing Liang Lu's concern, saying, "Secretary Liang was very worried about you, afraid you'd suffer in there. She insisted on coming with me to make sure you were safely brought back. She looked so pale on the way here..."
Seeing that Xiao Ershao, who was standing next to Nick, was getting increasingly dark-skinned and his aura was turning cold, Liang Lu quickly coughed twice to interrupt Zhou Feng and said with a dry laugh, "Ahem, well... it's good that everyone is safe now. It's getting a bit cold outside, let's get in the car first."
As they spoke, Liang Lu glanced at Xiao Qin discreetly. She sensed a sudden change in the atmosphere; he had misunderstood and was angry.
Especially after Zhou Feng finished speaking, Nick patted her shoulder and thanked her.
Liang Lu was also suffering in silence; she hadn't expected Zhou Feng to say such a thing. But she understood that Zhou Feng meant well by helping her gain favor with the leaders, and she couldn't very well explain in front of so many people that it was because she was worried about him, thus embarrassing Zhou Feng.
Actually, she and Nick rarely had any physical contact, but it was such a coincidence that he took two pictures of her today, and Xiao Qin saw them both.
The two leaders sat in the back seat, Zhou Feng drove, and Liang Lu opened the passenger door and got in. Xiao Qin only said to take the injured Nick home first, and then fell silent.
Throughout the journey, Zhou Feng would occasionally ask about the two of them at the police station, but only Nick answered. Seeing that his boss wasn't speaking, Zhou Feng assumed he was tired and wanted to rest, so he stopped asking.
After dropping off Nick, Xiao Qin didn't say who he would drop off next. Zhou Feng, sensing the somewhat oppressive atmosphere, suddenly realized something. After hesitating for a while and considering things in his mind, he decided to take a gamble and said to Xiao Qin, "Mr. Xiao, I just remembered that I have some urgent business at home. Could I go back first and ask you to take Secretary Liang home last?" Zhou Feng was secretly sweating, unsure if his bold and risky decision was the right one.
Xiao Qin was still looking out the car window. He seemed to consider for two seconds before finally letting out a soft "Hmm."
Upon hearing his voice, Zhou Feng knew he had made the right bet. He forcefully suppressed his inner smugness, put on an apologetic expression, and drove home via the shortest route.
What do you mean by "the client just happened to have dinner here"? It was clearly Xiao Qin who asked him to contact the client and arrange to have dinner at that hotel, especially since he was already off work. He was suddenly asked to make the appointment with the client. Having worked with Xiao Qin for several years, he knew that Xiao Qin disliked socializing. If they hadn't run into Nick and Liang Lu earlier and heard Nick say that they were going to have dinner at that hotel, he would have almost believed it.
Because of Xiao Geng, the Xiao family almost universally loathed going to the police station. Xiao Qin might not have felt the same way, but he certainly didn't like it. And what happened? He got into the police car without a word, even though a simple phone call could have easily avoided it. This was definitely not normal.
Zhou Feng then remembered that Xiao Qin had given him the car keys and told him to follow, which must have been planned in advance.
Having finally figured out the whole story, Assistant Zhou suppressed the urge to whistle excitedly at discovering his boss's ulterior motives, while simultaneously admiring the depth of his boss's cunning. "A man's heart is truly unfathomable," he thought. "My boss really went to great lengths to go through all this trouble." He even maliciously wondered if the people who were drinking, fighting, and causing trouble were also arranged by his boss.
As he thought about it, he finally remembered what he had said about Liang Lu in front of Xiao Qin and Nick outside the car after they came out of the police station. He felt a chill run down his spine and stepped on the gas, driving himself home as fast as he could and disappearing from Xiao Qin's sight.
