[Fantasy] Gods and Demons Among Flowers (Complete) - 21

Chapter 106 of the Storm of the Three Kingdoms (Part 2):

"Ultimate forbidden fire spell, 'Firefall from the Nine Heavens,' everyone hold on!" Feng Lit, startled, shouted to the mages channeling magic into the magic tower.

Hearing General Feng Lit's words, the mages tensed, as if making a firm decision. They increased the amount of magic they channeled into the crystals within the magic tower, and correspondingly, the originally pale blue "Water Curtain of Heaven" turned deep blue.

As the crimson fireballs approached, seemingly sensing the threat of the forbidden fire spell, deep blue water balls split from the sky to meet the fireballs. The clash between fire and water was so intense that thunderous booms seemed to echo in the air. The explosion resulting from the collision of fire and water was unimaginable. Although the shockwave was harmless to humans, it still caused the Imperial soldiers, hundreds of feet away, to involuntarily take a few steps back. While Feng Lit and his companions, protected by the Water Curtain Heavenly Flower, didn't experience this, they were still shocked by the collision of these two forbidden spells.

After the Water Curtain Heavenly Flower withstood a round of "Fire Falls from the Nine Heavens" attacks, its protective shield weakened considerably. However, the fiery clouds lingering above the fortress showed no signs of disappearing; instead, their color deepened.

Could it be a double forbidden spell? A hint of doubt flashed through Feng Lit's mind.

But soon, the fiery clouds provided an explanation. The fiery clouds writhed, and from them emerged more fireballs, only these seemed larger and darker than the previous ones.

A flicker of worry crossed Feng Lit's eyes. Seeing the second forbidden spell about to appear, he cried out, "This is a double forbidden spell! Brothers, you must hold on!"

The mages maintaining the magic output below knew that success or failure hinged on this moment, and they were willing to sacrifice their lives for this final blow. The Water Curtain Heaven's color deepened, but due to the inability to maintain the magic output, it was impossible to distinguish the blue water orbs from the Water Curtain Heaven to intercept the falling fireballs. They could only watch helplessly as the fireballs fell straight down one by one.

With a "boom," the Water Curtain Heaven's protective shield trembled violently, its color fading slightly. However, the mages maintaining the magic output trembled all over. Although he couldn't see their pain, the blood seeping from the corners of their mouths told Feng Lit, who was watching from the side, that they had clearly suffered severe internal injuries. But they were brave warriors; even with their last breath, they would protect the Water Curtain Heaven.

With a deafening boom, the Water Curtain rippled once more, followed by several sharp "splashes." The mages guarding the Water Curtain were blasted away, spitting out mouthfuls of blood as they flew. However, they were incredibly tenacious. The Water Curtain, without any magic to sustain it, couldn't last long, so they rose again, wiped the blood from their mouths, and, shaking their weakened bodies, threw themselves back into the battle.

Another ball of fire slammed down, this time the Water Curtain's color paled even more. Our beloved mages, though blasted away, were covered in blood from their mouths, noses, and ears, yet they still stubbornly resisted the "Fire Falls from the Heavens" attack.

What a lovely group of children! What a respectable group of warriors! You are all the pride of our duchy, the glory of our duchy! Feng Lit couldn't help but shed tears. He had also thought of replacing those adorable warriors, but alas, he wasn't a mage and couldn't take their place.

Another deafening roar followed, and the adorable mages' faces were covered in blood. They were gone. Even in their dying moments, they maintained that posture, exchanging their lives for the survival of the fortress. They were all adorable warriors; their strength would surely inspire generations of descendants in the duchy. We are proud to have them!

Feng Lit thought, tears streaming down his face. He had many thoughts. He wasn't afraid of death, but he was unwilling to accept that he hadn't been able to protect this great fortress. What face would he have to meet the late emperor in the afterlife?

Alice gazed indifferently at the distant Brest Fortress, muttering, "Is it over so quickly? I thought I'd met a worthy opponent, but you've disappointed me greatly today!"

However, at that very moment, as Feng Lit calmly awaited his death, a dragon's roar echoed, and a golden dragon over a hundred meters long suddenly appeared above the Brest Fortress. Its limbs were outstretched and claws extended, its head majestic, its scales gleaming with golden light, and its thick, powerful tail was awe-inspiring. To the astonishment of the Imperial army, the golden dragon flicked its tail, instantly scattering the lightning bolts that had struck, and sucking any stray fish into its belly.

"How is this possible? How can there be a dragon here, and a high-level one at that?" Alice's eyes widened, staring incredulously at the scene before her.

However, just as Alice was looking on in surprise, countless small fireballs, wind blades, and ice spikes flew out from the magic group and shot towards Little Gold in the air.

"No!" Alice screamed. She had some understanding of the habits of dragons. As long as you didn't offend them, they wouldn't bother with you. But today... it was too late. The countless small fireballs, wind blades, and ice spikes accurately hit their target.

Sure enough, a roar resounded in the sky. Little Gold emerged from the explosions unharmed, but its furious eyes told everyone that it was enraged!

"Despicable humans, I had promised my master not to make things difficult for you, but today you have offended the majesty of my dragon race. I will teach you a lesson you deserve!" Little Gold's voice rang out from mid-air.

"Marshal... he... he can speak!?" A general next to Alice stammered.

"This is the legendary Golden Holy Dragon, the favorite of the ancient gods. How could it not speak?" Alice raised an eyebrow and said coldly.

"Despicable humans, I'll teach you a little lesson! Dragon's Saliva Ball!" A ball of dragon's saliva, about two meters in diameter, shot out from Xiao Jin's mouth and flew towards the location of the magicians.

"Quick...quickly give the order! Tell them to use their strongest protective shields to stop this dragon's saliva ball tomorrow!" Alice cried out in a panic. Although she didn't know the power of this dragon's saliva ball, back in her ancestors' time, the six great warriors of the human race went to slay a thousand-year-old, evil-dominating dragon. The dragon's saliva ball, which it spewed just before ascending to heaven, melted the rocks within a hundred meters radius. One could imagine the power of that dragon's saliva. Now, the dragon's saliva spewed by the Golden Holy Dragon, the emperor of the dragon race, was even more extraordinary, which was why she was so panicked.

Upon receiving Alice's order, the magicians immediately began chanting, and an oval-shaped, five-colored shield enveloped the tens of thousands of magicians within. But the oncoming dragon's breath ball paid no heed to any of this. To the astonishment of the mages, it pierced through the magnificent yet sturdy barrier and slammed directly into the ground. With

a deafening roar, the earth trembled and groaned. A circular crater spread outwards from the point of impact, and anyone caught within it was instantly reduced to ashes. This crater was composed of the supremely hot dragon flames, capable of melting even the bodies of gods, let alone mortals. And this crater possessed a remarkable sentience; after obliterating the tens of thousands of mages from the continent, it left nothing to destroy in its vicinity.

Silence. Absolute silence. Not a single member of the million-strong team dared to breathe. Tens of thousands of renowned Gale Mages, whose fame resounded throughout the continent, vanished completely in a single sip of dragon's saliva. How utterly shocking! Even Alice stared in disbelief at the colossal crater behind them—the crater that had buried the Gale Mage Corps.

However, just as the dragon's saliva ball struck the ground, I, standing atop a high mountain on the enemy's left flank, sneered and said, "Shocking, aren't you? I'll give you an even more absolute shock!"

I had secretly received intelligence yesterday afternoon that the Imperial Army was going to install two magic crystal cannons on a flat-topped hill on the left flank of their legion. If successfully installed, Brest's fortress would be destroyed. So, after a night of discussion, I led over a hundred Phantom Beast Knights and slipped out of the fortress under cover of darkness, marching towards the flat-topped hill. As I expected, the two magic crystal cannons had already been set up, but they hadn't yet been activated by mages. At the heavily guarded area, after my and the powerful Phantom Beast Knights' assault, the Imperial Army was quickly routed, with only a few lowly soldiers returning to inform Alice.

A rumbling sound echoed from the hilltop on the Imperial Army's left flank, and two beams of yellow light shot into the sky, illuminating the Imperial Army.

"Hmm, isn't that where our army set up the two magic crystal cannons? What happened? How could they activate them without my permission!" Alice said angrily, her face ashen.

"Marshal... Marshal, that place has been... occupied by the enemy!" A general, covered in blood, rode up to Alice, fell off his horse, and cried out.

"How... how could this be! How many enemy troops are there?" Alice's expression changed as she asked.

"Over a hundred." Seemingly afraid of her punishment, the general added, "They all seemed to be wearing phantom beast armor, extremely brave, especially the young man at the very front. His armor, made of some unknown material, didn't even leave a mark when struck by a divine sword. Moreover, he would occasionally unleash bursts of sword energy, killing over a hundred of our brothers!"

"The Duchy's Phantom Beast Knights, you're actually unharmed? It seems I underestimated you." Alice sneered, then looked up and saw the yellow pillars of light in the distance growing brighter and brighter. She cried out in alarm, "Retreat! Retreat! Retreat now!"

It was too late. The two pillars of light suddenly slashed down, tearing the earth open with a "bang." Imperial soldiers who couldn't escape were instantly reduced to ashes by the beams of light. These two attacks alone caused the Imperial army to lose over 100,000 men, demonstrating the ferocity of their firepower.

Throughout the entire offensive and defensive battle, our army emerged victorious, while the Imperial army, after suffering over 200,000 casualties, retreated more than 40 miles before finally establishing their camp.

In Chapter 107 of the "Storm of the Wind and Cloud " arc

, "Provocation," Alice sat quietly in the commander's chair, reflecting on the day's events.

Alice had lost; the Goddess of a Hundred Battles had lost! The myth unbroken for ten years had been defeated by a man whose face was rarely seen, and the defeat was devastating. The enemy had exchanged the lives of just a few mages for the lives of over 100,000. Unexpected events can happen at any time on the battlefield. Perhaps because everything had gone too smoothly for so many years, when disaster struck, she was completely bewildered. The appearance of the golden holy dragon was even more unexpected, and coupled with the words spoken by the dragon, she felt as if she were walking into a trap. Whether to stay or leave, it wasn't too late for regrets. However, as a high-ranking general, many things were beyond her control. She had once considered marrying a man who loved her and becoming a devoted wife and mother. But the accolades bestowed upon her were too numerous; she was too outstanding. Compared to her, men felt inferior. Who would love her, who would like her? Even if someone did, it was only for her status. Standing alone at the top of the ivory tower, she felt incredibly lonely. Since someone had given her a chance to gamble, why not take it? Still relying on her own strength? How could she possibly enjoy it? [Forum reputation guaranteed! Having figured this out, Alice smiled confidently. The defeat in the war had not left any scars on her heart; instead, it had given her an ambition to fight against fate.

The next morning, Alice, who was resting with her eyes closed in her command tent, heard a few hurried footsteps outside. Mink's voice rang out.

"I have urgent business with the Marshal, please make an exception!" Mink said respectfully to the two guards standing at the tent entrance.

"Miss hasn't gotten up yet, please ask General Mink to come back later," the female guard on the left replied politely.

"Please make an exception, it's really important!" Mink pleaded softly.

"Miss said no one is allowed in the tent during her rest time," the female guard refused. "

Is something concerning the life and death of our army not worth reporting?" Mink's slightly bowed body suddenly straightened, his eyes flashing.

"This…" the female guard was speechless for a moment.

"Ah Jiao, Ah Feng, let General Mink in!" Alice's sweet voice came from inside the tent.

"Yes, Miss!" The two women ushered Mink into the command tent.

"Second Uncle, you've come!" Alice called softly, curling up in her seat.

"Marshal, please speak clearly. I am your subordinate, Mink, not your second uncle!" Mink said solemnly.

"Second Uncle, there are only the two of us in this command tent. Why keep that secret to yourself?" Alice said calmly.

"Let bygones be bygones. I'm here today to tell you that Grand Marshal Xie Yun of the Fire Dance Kingdom has personally led an army of 300,000 to set up camp less than ten miles ahead of our army!" Mink said calmly.

"300,000 troops think they can stop me from conquering the Fire Dance Kingdom? They're too confident." Alice sneered.

"They certainly have the right to be confident. That Grand Marshal Xie Yun is the legendary Saint Seiya of the entire continent. Not only is his personal cultivation extremely high, but from what I've observed, both of our defeats were caused by him!" Mink said, his eyes turning cold.

"Ah... I never imagined this Grand Marshal of the Duchy was so extraordinary! Ten years, ten years, and I had never been defeated, but just yesterday I was defeated, defeated by this man. I really want to see if this man has the legendary three heads and six arms, repeatedly breaking through our army's battle formation!" Alice's face showed surprise at first, then an excited expression appeared.

"I'm afraid you'll fall in love with him unconditionally after you see him!" Mink suddenly blurted out.

"Oh... why?" Alice was very curious; why would her usually cold and ruthless second uncle say such a strange thing?

"Because he's too outstanding! Outstanding men are often pursued by beautiful women, and there are no fewer than ten women surrounding him. Not only are their beauty comparable to yours, but they may even surpass it. Moreover, these beautiful women are all supported by a powerful force. It can be said that anyone, army, or country that tries to attack him will suffer a terrible fate. How could you not be tempted by such an outstanding man?" Mink explained.

“I confess I was indeed tempted when I first heard those words, but as enemies, I won’t let those emotions get in the way. For my promise to my brother, I must destroy the Fire Dance Duchy!” Alice’s expression calmed down, and she became more like the ruthless, battle-hardened goddess on the battlefield.

“Alice, fate is something invisible and intangible. When it comes, you can’t avoid it. You’ll understand what I mean then.” Mink strode out.

“Also, I noticed years ago that your brother had changed. He’d become ruthless and tyrannical, with immense ambition. I always had a feeling he wasn’t the same person he used to be.” Mink added. “

Fate? My brother? Hahaha… Why should I think about all that? Let’s deal with the current situation first.” Alice looked confused at first, then burst into laughter in the command tent as if she had figured things out.

***********************“Marshal, this humble general requests to accept the challenge!” A tall and burly general with a full beard stepped forward and requested.

"Let them make a scene!" Alice said calmly, her eyes tightly closed.

The soldiers standing in the command tent were seething with anger, secretly resenting Princess Alice, who was never defeated, for failing to launch a counterattack after this defeat and instead allowing herself to be bullied.

Alice opened her eyes, taking in the emotions of the soldiers, and said coldly, "I know you're all a bit resentful of me now, but the opposing general is an unpredictable fellow. These people are just trying to mislead us; we mustn't act rashly!"

"Why? We've tolerated them for too long! They come to our lines every day waving flags and shouting! I wish I could chop that old man to pieces with an axe!" Mord (the burly man from before) said angrily.

"Mord, don't be impulsive! We'll see in a few days!" Alice called out.

"I can't stand this humiliation anymore!" Mord picked up his double axes and walked out of the tent.

"Qiu Ke, Ke Xie, Mord is definitely challenging that vanguard general now. He'll be in danger. Be ready to support him at any time!" Alice's face changed, and she said worriedly.

Meanwhile, Mord stepped out of the command tent and walked to the front camp. From afar, he could hear the vanguard general and his troop still cursing incessantly. He mounted a warhorse led by a soldier and, with a few men, galloped towards the front lines. After Jones and his soldiers had been cursing for days, the enemy seemed unmoved, never sending a single soldier to fight them. They were happy to have some peace and quiet, eating a piece of fruit when thirsty, resting for a while, and then continuing their cursing until the enemy's soldiers were furious, but dared not fight due to orders.

"We've cursed enough for today. Let's retreat!" Jones cleared his throat and ordered.

Upon receiving the order, the soldiers mounted their warhorses, pulled on the reins, and leisurely rode back to their own camp. The sudden sound of hooves from behind made Jones pull on the reins and stop.

A cloud of dust rose, and Maud's army appeared before Jones. Seeing the furious Maud, Jones was secretly delighted; finally, a small fish had taken the bait.

However, on the surface, Jones still mocked, "I thought the Goddess of a Hundred Battles was leading her army, but it turns out to be just some shrimp soldiers on the front lines. She underestimates us!

" "Don't be so arrogant! I'll let you live a few more days, but today I'll send you on your way!" Maud shouted, raising his double axes.

"You think you can send an old man like me on my way, you brat? Go to your next life! Hahaha..." Jones laughed loudly.

"Old man, take this!" Maud cried out in alarm and anger. A sharp gust of wind from the axe rushed towards Jones. In haste, Jones raised his sword to block, but with a "clang," he felt a weight in his hand, shocked by the boy's immense strength and wondering about his intelligence! Jones mustered his strength, and with a clang, deflected Maud's double axes. He spurred his horse back a few steps and laughed, "Hey kid, if you've got the guts, come fight me in the woods!" With that, Jones pulled on the reins and galloped into the depths of the forest.

"Why wouldn't I dare? I'm afraid you old man can't withstand these two axes!" Hearing Jones's provocation, Maud indeed fell for the trap and followed him into the woods. But as soon as he entered the woods, he found that the old man had vanished.

"Young man, I'm right above you!" Jones laughed heartily, and while Maud wasn't paying attention, he used his sword to knock the double axes out of his hands.

"Old man, you cheated!" Maud clutched his injured hand, shocked and angry.

"Haven't you heard the saying 'all's fair in war'? You're a general of the Empire, surely you know these things!" Jones said with a smile.

"I... I only know how to use brute force. Compared to you people who win through cunning, I feel completely at peace with myself." "Maud retorted.

"It's been a long time since I've seen such a simple man like you. It's a pity this battlefield isn't for you!" Jones flicked his right hand, and the longsword in his hand transformed into a sharp light, slicing towards his throat.

Maud calmly watched the sword light approach his throat. From the moment he went to the battlefield, he had been prepared to sacrifice himself at any moment, but to die at the hands of others like this was something he was unwilling to do. Perhaps his unwillingness moved others, because just as Jones's sharp light was about to slice into his neck, Qiu Ke and Ke Xie's shouts came from outside the woods: "Old man, don't hurt my brother!" Jones turned around, quickly sheathed his longsword, and laughed: "I'll spare your life for now. See you on the battlefield another day!" Then Jones laughed as he rode away, while Mord watched Jones's departing figure with a complex expression.

In Chapter 108 of the Storm of the Three Kingdoms

, inside the Hawk Empire's command tent, Mord, his hands bound behind his back, knelt on the ground.

"Mord, do you know your crime! You fought the enemy general without my permission and almost lost your life. If I hadn't sent Qiu Ke and Keshe to rescue you, you would be a corpse now." Alice's face was grim, showing a look of deep disappointment. "

This humble general knows his crime and is willing to accept punishment!" Mord lowered his head and confessed. "

Mord, what is the fate of those who disobey military orders?" Alice didn't directly list his crimes, but instead asked this question. "

Execution! Since you know your crime, I have no choice but to punish you according to military law. Guards, drag Mord out of the Meridian Gate and execute him." Alice, her face stern, watched silently as the two guards dragged Mord away.

But halfway there, Qiu Ke's voice rang out: "Wait! Marshal, General Mord acted only in a moment of rage. I hope you will be lenient!" Qiu Ke stopped the two guards and turned to Alice, pleading for Mord's life. "

Yes, Marshal! Mord is a general in our army. To execute him for this reason will cause unrest throughout the army!" Keshe also stepped forward, defending Mord. "

You…" Alice's face was ashen, too angry to speak. "

Please, Marshal, spare Mord's life!" Qiu Ke and Keshe knelt on the ground, pleading.

Seemingly moved by Qiu Ke and Keshe's sincerity, the soldiers also knelt down. They pleaded in unison: "Please, Marshal, spare General Morde's life! Please, Marshal, spare General Morde's life!"... "Fine, fine, fine, you...you..." Alice's ample bosom heaved, clearly enraged. But who was Alice? The legendary Goddess of a Hundred Battles, renowned throughout the continent! She quickly calmed down, pondered for a long time, and said helplessly: "Very well, since you all plead for him, I will spare his life for now. However, while he may escape death, he will not escape punishment. I order you to set up a waltz formation on the ancient battlefield of Vilia tomorrow to welcome the enemy's arrival!" At this moment, the ropes binding Morde's back had been untied by the crowd. Hearing that Alice had given him a chance to redeem himself, tears welled in his eyes as he replied: "Your subordinate obeys!" Then he bowed deeply three times to the generals present. I am very grateful for their rescue.

The next day, the Hawk Empire Legion, contrary to its usual practice, broke away from its previous defensive posture and marched forward towards the ancient battlefield of Vilia, which was ahead of our army. Upon receiving the news, I smiled coldly and said, "The game has begun!" I also ordered 300,000 troops to advance towards the Vilia battlefield. The two armies were finally about to clash on the Vilia battlefield. Who would win... that was still an unknown. It was no longer a matter of the number of troops on one side, but rather the skill of their troop deployment.

Both armies slowly advanced, finally stopping simultaneously about twenty feet apart. The formations of both armies were neat and orderly, well-organized, and clearly layered, appearing evenly matched from all angles.

Let me first describe our army's formation. Like any formation on the mainland, the vanguard naturally consists of the most heavily armored halberdiers and shieldmen. Next are the archers with their powerful ranged attacks, followed by the agile and mobile light cavalry, and then the heavy cavalry, known as mobile fortresses. Our army already had few mages, and they were all wiped out in the previous battle, so there shouldn't be many behind them. However, today two assault squads have suddenly appeared. This is a precaution I took after studying and predicting the Imperial army's impending attack formation. The squad on the left wields grappling hooks; three coiled claws gleam with a chilling, ghostly light, and they carry long ropes wrapped around their shoulders, the ends of which are securely tied to the grappling hooks. The right-hand team carried smaller and lighter shields on both arms than the round shields carried by the soldiers in front. However, unlike the shields in front, these shields were no longer purely defensive. They combined offense and defense. In the center of the left shield was a circular hole surrounded by steel blades. With a gentle press of the spring, the sharp steel blades snapped into a circular shape, enough to pulverize anything inserted into the hole. The right-hand shield was made of double-layered steel with a thin steel sheet in between. When the spring was activated, a rotating steel blade would extend from the edge of the shield. Anyone who touched this would be either killed or maimed.

The enemy's formation was similar to ours: first, the heavily armored halberdiers and shieldmen, followed by archers, light cavalry, and heavy cavalry. There was originally space reserved for the mage corps, but Xiao Jin's Dragon's Breath Ball annihilated the entire Gale Mage Corps across the continent, so the empty space was occupied by two special units. What kind of units were they? The left unit consisted entirely of soldiers wielding logs—and these weren't ordinary logs. The logs were covered with various small holes, and the ends had distinct layers, suggesting an unimaginable weapon. The right unit carried what appeared to be straws, and carried square boxes on their backs, from which a round tube extended, connecting to the straw-like objects.

At that moment, a horn sounded from our rear, and the neatly arranged 300,000 Iron Army soldiers parted orderly from the center, with hundreds of Phantom Beast Knights escorting me to the front lines. At this moment, I appeared clad in gold-engraved armor, a five-colored phoenix-feather hat, and purple-gold dragon-patterned boots. A black cloak fluttered gently behind me, giving me an air of both majesty and elegance.

With the sound of gongs and drums, the Imperial army parted to reveal Alice, the goddess of a hundred battles, and her generals. Alice, now less coquettish and more heroic, wore purple-gold armor, a purple-gold phoenix-patterned helmet, and cloud-piercing boots, striding confidently towards the front lines.

The two armies stood face to face. Alice and I locked eyes, and suddenly a spark ignited—not a spark of love, but of shame and resentment. Alice realized that the enemy commander before her was the same lecherous man who had discovered her secret and attempted to assault her that night! This resentment, this hatred, almost erupted at that moment. She never imagined we would meet in this way; what followed was likely to be unbearable.

Sure enough, ignoring her fiery gaze, I stared intently into her beautiful eyes and pretty face as our eyes met. Under my silent gaze, Alice's face flushed a rare blush. How to put it? Since she became the goddess of a hundred battles, few men dared to look her directly in the eye, for she was unattainable. But this man not only looked directly at her but also kept scanning her face, and she had a strange feeling, as if he could see right through her. Gradually, a blush crept onto her pretty face.

"Beautiful lady, you've become even more beautiful in just a few days!" Seeing a beautiful woman, I reverted to my carefree self.

"Ah…" I heard my voice. Alice tilted her head slightly and glanced back, finding that no one had noticed her unusual behavior; they knew I was whispering to her.

Perhaps this attack was too sophisticated, for Alice channeled her voice into my ears, angrily saying, "You lecherous scoundrel, I haven't settled accounts with you for every time you've ruined my reputation! What do you want today?" "Beautiful lady, what can I do? I only glanced at your body, I didn't damage your reputation! If that's not enough, I can go further!" I smiled mysteriously at her. "

You…you shameless!" Alice gritted her teeth, angrily retorting. "

Beautiful lady, you'd better remember, if a man isn't a little shameless, pretty women won't like him, hehe!" I chuckled lightly. "

You…you…I'll kill you!" Alice rarely got angry, her jade hand already gripping the hilt of her sword, ready to fight me to the death in front of her. "

Wait, beautiful lady! If you want to fight, I'm always ready, but with so many people watching, it might not be appropriate! How about we find a place to fight alone?" I inquired.

She was initially reluctant to agree to my suggestion, but remembering her previous two defeats against him, she felt even more resentful. Besides, if she lured me away, how could those 300,000 loosely organized ducal troops possibly stand a chance against the Empire's million-strong army? Thinking this, she gritted her teeth and said, "Alright, I'll go with you!" Seeing Alice's darting eyes, I knew exactly what she was planning. However, I was no ordinary person. Long ago, while researching the Empire's famous killing formation—the Round Dance Killing Formation—I had already shared the method to break it with the generals. Even if I left my command post, they could still hold their own against the Round Dance Killing Formation, at least achieving a draw. So, after sending a message to Feng Lit, I led Alice to another location, presumably also sending a message to Maud. Because when the two of us left, we calmly commanded our troops. Although there were occasional complaints, both armies assumed we had gone to a private duel, as they discovered Alice angrily brandishing her sword, chasing after me.

In Chapter 109 of the "Storm of Wind and Cloud" series, the previous chapter

described how everyone saw Alice angrily chasing after me, brandishing her sword. What was the reason? It was because, as I ran away, I suddenly exposed her weakness, causing her to momentarily go mad.

"Hey, beautiful lady, can you run a little faster? I can't wait to be your perfect pair! If you can't, I'll just throw a fly at you!" I teased.

"You...you...I'll definitely kill you!" Ever since I discovered her fatal weakness, she had held a grudge, wanting to kill me, the only one who knew the truth (some readers might ask: weren't there two, including Xu'er? But Alice was quite confident that Xu'er couldn't escape her sword, so she assumed only I knew the truth). Now that I had brought it up again, how could I not anger her? How could I not enrage her? So she kept urging her horse to chase after me, hoping to stab me in the back the moment she caught up.

Gradually, I turned around and found that even the army had disappeared. Alice was still relentlessly charging after me. I couldn't help but sigh, "Beautiful lady, they're all gone! Can you stop being so fierce? I haven't offended you, why are you chasing me so relentlessly? I'm sweating and thirsty after running all this way. There's a river ahead, let's rest for a while!" My eyes lit up, immediately drawn to the river not far away.

"Hmph, you...you despicable...shameless...vulgar...cough cough...bastard, I won't go back today if I don't kill you!" Originally, she wanted to lure me away with a trick, but she never expected me to be so shameless, constantly reopening her wounds, making her forget her original purpose and only wanting to kill me. After chasing me for so long, she was actually quite thirsty, but she didn't want to fall first; she wanted to see me fall first.

However, when she encountered me, everything went wrong for her. I, on the other hand, acted as if nothing was wrong, even having the mood to chat and laugh with her: "Beautiful lady, you still say you're not thirsty? I see your mouth is dry and your eyelids are heavy; these are signs of heatstroke. If you were to fall ill here, I wouldn't help you, after all, we're enemies. But your illness gives me an opportunity to take advantage of you, hehe..."

"You...you shameless!" Alice swung her longsword forward, shooting straight towards my back.

"Ouch!" The figure on horseback suddenly vanished, and she felt a tightness around her lower back. A strong masculine scent filled her nostrils, and then she heard my teasing voice in her ear: "Oh dear, I'm so sorry, beautiful lady, you shot and injured my horse. I had no choice but to run here!"

Alice looked up and saw some blood on my horse's rump, but she couldn't have seriously injured it with her current strength. It was all the work of that shameless man behind her. She struggled fiercely, trying to break free from my embrace.

"Let go of me, you shameless bastard, you scoundrel, you rogue..." Alice finally showed her tender side, her eyes reddening, and she tried to pry my hands off her waist.

"How could I bear to let go of something so wonderful, beautiful lady!" I breathed softly into her ear and laughed.

"You..." Alice blushed deeply after my intimate gesture, but her weak body was held tightly in my arms, unable to move an inch.

"Beautiful lady, you smell so good!" I inhaled the fragrance from her jade-like neck, my hands beginning to roam freely. Even through the thick armor, I could feel the softness of her breasts.

"Truly a top-tier beauty, your figure is superb!" My hands roamed over her delicate body, when suddenly, unexpectedly, she grabbed my hand and bit down.

"Ouch... let go... it hurts... let go of my mouth... it hurts so much!" A sharp pain shot through my arm, causing me to plead. But the girl suddenly became stubborn, refusing to let go, biting harder and harder.

"You brat, you stinky girl, if you don't let go I'll throw you down! Ouch..." The girl seemed not to hear me, continuing to bite my arm, a stream of bright red blood flowing from my wound.

"Hey!" I roared, and the girl was thrown out of my sight. I was startled. Although I hated her for biting my arm, I didn't want to see her fall so heavily, her life extinguished. I immediately leaped off my horse and caught her falling body. We could have landed smoothly, but as we flew, we discovered we were on a very steep slope covered in grass, with the river I mentioned below. Time didn't allow me to change course, so with a slight twist of my foot, I rolled down the slope with Alice in my arms. The grass was soft enough that we weren't hurt when we reached the bottom, only our armor and hair were disheveled. But soon we realized we were embracing in an ambiguous position. Alice, weak and sore from the fall, clung tightly to me, as if afraid I would throw her away. Out of love and concern for her, I did everything I could to protect her, and as a result, I ended up on top of her as we rolled down.

We were in very intimate contact, my lips less than two centimeters from hers. The strong masculine scent made Alice feel a surge of release. Now, held in my arms, that rich aroma intoxicated her. My warm breath occasionally brushed against her face, and our eyes met, a subtle connection of affection forming between us. Alice's face grew increasingly flushed as my lips moved closer—one millimeter, two millimeters, three millimeters… closer, almost closer, I could feel the heat of her lips. Alice closed her eyes blissfully, waiting for her prince charming to kiss her slightly moist and fiery lips.

But why hadn't I felt her lips descend? Was I in a dream world? We remained in that ambiguous position, neither wanting nor willing to break the ambiguity. But then, someone shattered this harmony, this beauty, and the culprit was none other than myself. When our lips were only 0.01 millimeters apart, I was suddenly drawn to a pretty little white flower by Alice's ear. I gently kissed its petals, then plucked it, intending to tuck it into her hair.

Alice, waiting for her mark of love, opened her eyes to find me kissing a small white flower by her ear like an idiot, my infatuated expression simply... Unconsciously, a pang of jealousy rose within her. "Am I not even as important as a little white flower to you?" she thought. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. Alice suddenly raised her knee, pressing it against my groin. I had just plucked the flower and hadn't even had a chance to put it on her when I suddenly felt as if my heart had been struck a heavy blow, a sharp pain shooting through my groin.

"Ouch, you cruel girl! My... manhood... you almost broke it!" I cried out, pale-faced, clutching my groin and enduring the excruciating pain.

"You bastard!" Taking advantage of someone's weakness, this girl had also learned this trick. With a kick of her left foot, she caught me off guard and struck my buttocks. Already unsteady on my feet, I fell into the river with a "plop," while Alice, her pretty face slightly flushed, struggled to her feet and began climbing the steep slope.

Just as Alice was struggling to reach the top, a figure shot out from the river, hurtling towards her. With a scream, Alice was caught by the figure and flung back into the river.

"I'll teach you to be ruthless, I'll teach you to be ruthless, today I'll show you what ruthlessness really is..." I swung at Alice, cursing as I frantically undressed her. I forcefully broke any knots or ties, and with Alice offering no resistance, she was completely naked, without a single garment left.

After stripping her of her armor and clothes, I stood up from the water, feeling a sense of satisfaction, and sat on the grass, using my inner energy to dry my clothes. As for Alice, her weak body felt much better after being in the water, but naked, she stood quietly in the river, arms crossed. Stripped of all disguise, she now looked more like a frail woman, tears streaming down her face. She... she actually started to sob.

"What are you crying for? I didn't even settle scores with you for almost breaking my manhood earlier, what good does crying do now!" I shouted impatiently.

But to my surprise, Alice didn't stop; instead, her sobs grew louder. The sound of her crying not only softened my heart but also made me secretly scold myself for being a chauvinist and arguing with a little woman!

Thinking of this, my heart softened, and I quickly comforted her, "Alright, alright, don't cry, I'll get you up here right away!" Before she could react, a ball of water enveloped her naked body, carrying her to the grass. Considering her complete nakedness, I took out a set of women's clothes from my dimensional space, tossed them to her, and coldly said, "Put on some clothes, I won't peek!"

A slight sound came from behind me, followed by silence. I turned around and saw Alice with tears still clinging to the corners of her eyes, her head bowed, her slender hands gently clutching the hem of her clothes, looking utterly pitiful—a far cry from the spirited, battle-hardened goddess she once was.

"It's getting late, I should go back," I said softly, leaping up the steep slope, mounting my warhorse, and galloping away.

Alice, watching me leave, opened her lips as if wanting to say something, but ultimately, she helplessly shed a few clear tears. (

Chapter 110 of the Chronicles of Wind and Cloud: The Round Dance Killing Formation (Part 1))

After Alice and I left, Feng Lit and Maud took command of the army. As Alice had instructed, Maud raised her longsword to the sky, and the hundred thousand or so imperial soldiers roared in unison. With each roar, the soldiers moved in rhythmic steps. The halberdiers and shield bearers slowly moved in a circle, followed by the archers, who moved in the opposite direction, chanting "Heave-ho!" Then came the neighing of horses as the light cavalry spurred their mounts into the large circle, their horses galloping in the opposite direction to the archers' movements, the crisp sound of hooves raising dust on the yellow earth. The heavy cavalry, known as mobile fortresses, also moved, weaving in and out of the massive circle, forming a cross-shaped framework. The other two troop types were divided into four groups by the heavy cavalry. If the left side consisted of the troops wielding logs, then the right side consisted of the troops wielding jetpacks; if the upper group consisted of the jetpack-wielding troops, then the lower group consisted of the log-wielding troops. These two groups changed positions as the formation rotated. The neighing of warhorses, the shouts of warriors, and the synchronized steps seemed to add a touch of vitality to the ancient battlefield of Vilia.

Standing before the Dancing Dance Killing Formation, Mord felt extremely proud. This was one of the killing formations the Empire had developed over many years. Originally, he was not qualified to command the Dancing Dance Killing Formation, but thanks to Alice's authorization, he finally got his wish and commanded this famous killing formation on the continent.

He couldn't help but shout: "You old bastard, do you dare to break into my formation?" Fenglit was furious upon hearing this, but he still remembered my instructions and sneered: "Why not? Do you think your Dancing Dance Killing Formation is so powerful? Without a backbone, this Dancing Dance Killing Formation can no longer be called a killing formation." "Hmph, do I even need it to deal with you shrimp soldiers and crab generals? We'll still slaughter you without leaving a single one alive!" Mord scoffed. "

Then I'll use my shrimp soldiers to deal with you, you toothless tiger!" Fenglit sneered as he pulled out seven small flags of seven colors—red, orange, yellow, green, blue, cyan, and purple—from his robes. He raised the red flag high into the air, then slammed it down. The ducal army split outwards, and the sound of hooves filled the air. Light cavalry, dressed simply and wielding large swords, charged out of the ranks and towards the swirling killing formation.

Mord had already quietly retreated to the rear of the swirling killing formation the moment he saw Fenglit pull out the seven-colored flags.

Upon receiving Fenglit's order, the thousand light cavalrymen split into two groups of five hundred each, swiftly circling the swirling killing formation towards it. The agility and mobility of the light cavalry far surpassed that of the halberdiers and shieldmen swirling outside, and the distance the cavalry covered was also beyond the attack range of the halberdiers and shieldmen. Sometimes, the light cavalry would strike the round shields of the halberdiers when they were off guard. Although this didn't cause them much harm, the harassment was enough to demonstrate their skill.

Neither side could gain the upper hand; they were locked in a stalemate, neither able to find a weakness. However, the situation quickly changed. A whoosh came from within the volley formation, and the running archers unleashed their pent-up arrows. But when I was studying this formation, I noticed a weakness in these archers: while volleys could inflict massive damage, their scattered shots were less impressive. Now, these thousand light cavalrymen, scattered and running around the circular killing formation, could only hit a few archers even with a volley of arrows. Moreover, after each volley, they had to replenish their ranks, a brief period of only three or four seconds, but it gave the enemy an opening. Unfortunately, there were halberdiers and shield bearers outside; otherwise, if the light cavalry had charged in, the archers would have faced a brutal massacre.

Fortunately, the whistles within the formation changed again, becoming rapid and sharp. Then, the heavy thud of hooves sounded, and the heavy cavalry, known as mobile fortresses, entered the fray. Although the light cavalry were more agile, the heavy cavalry's lances were no joke. Before they had even completed a full circle, many light cavalrymen were already covered in wounds.

Seeing the situation was dire, Feng Lite raised his red flag, and a rapid horn sounded in the army. Hearing this, the cavalrymen retreated in an orderly fashion, returning to their ranks.

Once the light cavalry had all returned to their ranks, Fenglit lowered his orange flag, and the Iron Army's heavy cavalry made their grand entrance, charging towards the circular killing formation with imposing momentum. Seeing the enemy heavy cavalry appear, the circular killing formation shifted again; the heavy cavalry concealed themselves within the formation, while the light cavalry emerged. Based on their experience of hit-and-run tactics, the light cavalry swept their blades, and the heavy cavalry parried. Although they weren't seriously injured, the frustration was indescribable. Furthermore, the sneak attacks from the halberdiers inflicted considerable damage on the heavy cavalry's horses, gradually putting them at a disadvantage.

Seeing the situation turning against them, Fenglit raised his orange flag, and another urgent horn sounded in the army. Receiving the order, the heavy cavalry, while fending off the light cavalry's harassment, retreated in an orderly fashion. Two consecutive defeats weighed heavily on our army's morale, while the victorious Imperial army naturally seized this opportunity. The Circular Killing Formation moved forward slowly, though not very fast. If our army didn't get into position soon, this Circular Killing Formation would surely break through our defenses and rush into our ranks, with unimaginable consequences.

However, Feng Lit seemed confident. He held three of the six-colored flags (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and cyan) in his hand and waved them to the left and right. Our army's formation changed accordingly. The halberdiers and shield bearers, lined up in a straight line, used the central halberdier and shield bearer as the apex, with the others bending backward to gradually form a triangular cone. Following them were the double-layered archers with their bows fully drawn, then the five thousand light cavalry, followed by ten thousand heavy cavalry. After the heavy cavalry were positioned, the grappling hook soldiers and double-shield soldiers were surrounded and drawn into this cone formation.

Once the entire army formed the triangular pyramid shape, it began to move rapidly, thrusting towards the slowly approaching circular killing formation. The Triangular God-Slaying Formation effectively used the point of convergence as the point of attack. In the collision between the point and the center, the point took the opportunity to continuously drill inward, successfully breaking the cohesion. The entire formation instantly transformed into a sharp cone, piercing towards the center of the circular killing formation. After this ordeal, the warriors within the circular killing formation showed no signs of discouragement, fulfilling their duties without the slightest interruption. The formation suddenly shifted, with the halberdiers and shield bearers tightening their grip inward, the archers moving inward as well, followed by the troops wielding logs and jet propulsion devices, then the heavy cavalry, and finally, the outermost layer of light cavalry. At this moment, the entire outward-rotating circular killing formation transformed into an inward-rotating one, and the roars of the warriors from both formations reverberated throughout the sky.

Chapter 111 of the Storm of the Three Kingdoms

: The Round Dance Killing Formation (Part 2) After surrounding the Triangular God-Slaying Formation, the Round Dance Killing Formation launched a fierce attack. First, the archers unleashed a volley of arrows, a deluge of arrows raining down on the Triangular God-Slaying Formation. Those soldiers without protection were caught in the crossfire. Cries of agony and shrill screams echoed from within the formation, many soldiers perishing. Their deaths did not dampen our army's morale; on the contrary, they fueled it. Death itself is not frightening; what is frightening is that fearless spirit. Due to the stretched battle line, the archers had to pause for a few seconds after each volley to reload, and the Round Dance Killing Formation appeared before it was fully formed. In battle, thousands can die within seconds. And so, our archers, fueled by rage, unleashed a hail of arrows upon the Imperial archers. The arrows rained down like a storm, striking the enemy's hands, shoulders, and legs; some even hitting their foreheads, throats, or hearts with deadly accuracy. Groans and cries of agony filled the enemy ranks. What was terrifying was that the rain of arrows seemed endless, relentlessly pelting the enemy ranks, and in the blink of an eye, tens of thousands were rendered incapacitated or fell dead.

Despite the shield-bearers' defense, casualties remained high. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the shield-bearers surrounding our troops seized the chance. As one of the shield-bearers turned to block an arrow, a halberd suddenly pierced his heart. He fell to the incredulous gaze of the enemy soldier, killed by an enemy soldier, a fellow shield-bearer from opposing sides. Our soldier who had killed the enemy shield-bearer was overjoyed, finally avenging his fallen comrades. Little did he know that in his joy, another halberd was thrust towards his chest. Just as he faced death, the halberd suddenly stopped. Why did it stop? Did the enemy mercifully spare his life? Of course not. Three holes appeared in his body; his comrades beside him had saved him in his moment of crisis.

"Distraction is the worst thing in battle. Remember, we are the Iron Army!" a comrade holding a round shield whispered in his ear.

"Yes, we are the Iron Army!" The soldier, who had just survived a perilous situation, suddenly blazed with a fierce light in his eyes, a light so intense that even his enemies dared not look him in the eye.

The battle continued, our two archer squads taking turns firing, inflicting considerable damage on the enemy. Now their arrows were gone, their quivers empty, but they were not discouraged. Without arrows, they fought on, each pulling a gleaming small axe from their waistband, seemingly prepared to sacrifice themselves at any moment. With their arrows exhausted, the enemy became even more ferocious, and the enemy archer squad, already decimated by our repeated fire, was no longer a threat from the occasional stray arrow. But now the enemy's formation changed. Heavy cavalry surged in from all directions, their thick armor and impenetrable bodies truly terrifying. Several soldiers, unable to withstand the savage charge of the heavy cavalry, were sent flying by the knights' lances, only to be pierced to death by the hail of spears. They truly lived up to their reputation as "mobile fortresses"; swords, spears, and arrows had no effect on them. On the contrary, they inflicted heavy losses on our army.

"Brother!" A young man standing beside the fallen soldier cried out in anguish. That was his own brother, who had sacrificed his precious life to defend their homeland. Was his brother utterly indifferent? He wanted revenge; he wanted to use the enemy's blood to commemorate his brother.

"I'll fight you to the death!" A tear of blood welled in the young man's eye as he raised his axe and swung it at the heavy cavalryman who had killed his brother.

"Liefeng, no!" his comrades cried out.

Tragedy struck. Although Liefeng had severely wounded the heavy cavalryman, he was surrounded by the sheer number of heavy cavalry, and the consequences were predictable. However, he showed no despair or confusion; he smiled, a truly joyful smile. As the hail of bullets rained down, he glanced back at his dearest comrades and died happily.

The soldiers went berserk, regardless of their ability to defeat the heavy cavalry. The sudden surge of power caused the heavy cavalry to momentarily lose their footing. But the heavy cavalry, known as "moving fortresses," were not so easily defeated. They quickly regained their composure and powerfully retaliated against the frenzied onlookers.

However, the situation took a dramatic turn. Sharp grappling hooks flew from our ranks, seizing the heavy cavalrymen's armor. Before they could react, the ropes on the hooks taut, pulling the cavalryman inward. Despite their reputation as "moving fortresses," the heavy cavalry were not particularly agile, and those caught by the hooks were pulled from their horses by the immense force of the ropes. For heavy cavalrymen to fall from their horses meant certain death. Unmounted, their heavy armor rendered them utterly immobile, leaving them either trampled to death or hacked to pieces by the chaos of battle. Grappling hooks, like the scythes of death in the hands of hellish messengers, claimed countless lives of heavy cavalrymen, often slaying them in the blink of an eye.

The tragedy continued; the heavy cavalry could no longer withstand the grazing hooks. But soon, the graffitomen faced their match: firemen wielding jet propulsion. Clumps of black, oily substance sprayed onto the ropes of the graffito hooks, and then rockets fired from a distance ignited the ropes with a whoosh. The burning ropes, unable to withstand the pull of our soldiers, snapped suddenly, freeing the heavy cavalrymen caught in the grappling hooks. Spills of black oil sprayed onto the ropes and into the camp, causing nausea among the soldiers due to the nauseating odor. This blackish substance caused them immense suffering. Wherever the oil sprayed, the rockets would appear, igniting a cloud of flame. Later, the soldiers discovered that the rocket launchers were the mysterious figures with logs, but they couldn't care less. Any soldier touched by the oil was destined to be burned. Many soldiers, no longer concerned with fighting, frantically tried to pat the flames off their bodies. Unfortunately, the oil was no easy opponent; instead of slapping, the flames splattered everywhere, plunging the soldiers into misery, and even innocent civilians suffered the consequences.

Balls of flame shot out, accompanied by the annihilation of countless lives. Iron Bull and Sandan, the leaders of the double-shield unit, watched helplessly as their once vibrant brothers were reduced to charred remains. Overwhelmed with grief and rage, they roared and led their shield-bearers towards the fire-spraying soldiers. The triggers clicked, and their round shields began to spin, their sharp blades flashing as they slashed at the culprit. However, the heavy cavalryman standing before the fire-spraying soldier was no pushover. Even as Iron Bull swung his shield at the fire-spraying soldier, a lance pierced his heart.

"Iron Bull, watch out!" Sandan cried out urgently, seeing Iron Bull in danger.

But Iron Bull seemed oblivious, continuing to swing his shield at the seemingly stunned fire-spraying soldier. A sharp "swoosh" echoed as the shield's blade sliced through flesh. And a lance pierced his chest. As the hearts of his comrades pounded in their throats, a miracle seemed to occur unexpectedly. The round shield in Tie Niu's left hand had actually blocked the powerful lance wielded by the heavy cavalryman. To the knight's astonishment, the shield itself split open, accommodating his lance. A creaking sound filled the air as splinters of wood flew from the shield. When the knight turned to lift the lance, he was surprised to find the tip gone; the shield had severed the lance in two.

Seeing Tie Niu standing there unharmed, the flamethrower soldier before him lay lifeless on the ground, while the heavy cavalryman, momentarily distracted, was torn to pieces by the swarm of shield-bearers. The warriors, having witnessed the power of the shields, swept away their earlier frustration and began wielding their shields, excitedly reaping lives.

"Tie Niu, well done!" San Dan exclaimed, tears welling in his eyes, as he looked at the increasingly mature Tie Niu.

"Third Brother!" The two brothers hugged each other tightly. " Captain, watch out

behind you

!" a warrior fighting nearby warned.

Sure enough, a whooshing sound came from behind San Dan. An enemy heavy cavalryman had somehow bypassed the brothers and was thrusting at San Dan's back. At that moment, San Dan, weeping in his embrace with Tie Niu, was completely unaware of the attack. However, his brother Tie Niu noticed everything clearly. He raised his left hand, and the lance was instantly shattered. As the knight felt his hand lighten, a spinning round shield shone before his eyes, and he lost consciousness. "

Brother Tie Niu, you saved my life!" San Dan patted his shoulder, excitedly. "Third

Brother, don't say that. We're brothers, and even more so, golden partners on the battlefield!" Tie Niu laughed heartily, gently patting San Dan's left hand and tightly gripping it.

"Yes, we're the perfect team! Today, let's avenge the 15,000 innocent people of Liulin Town!" Sandan replied, gripping Tie Niu's hand tightly.

"Brothers, for the fallen and the brave warriors who sacrificed their lives, charge!" Tie Niu shouted, charging to the front of the column. San Dan, not to be outdone, followed closely behind, relentlessly charging forward. Hearing Tie Niu's shout, the shield-bearers' expressions trembled, their blood boiling. They roared back, forming a continuous stream as they followed their captain, tearing through the enemy. If someone were watching from above, they would see the shield-bearers transform into a sharp cone, relentlessly slashing into the enemy ranks. With each swing of their rotating shields, a spray of blood gushed from the blade. This less than a thousand-strong shield-bearer army unleashed an attack power equivalent to tens of thousands, launching a fierce assault on the enemy forces swarming around them.

As the arrows flew towards the shield-bearer, the shield-bearer simply blocked with his left hand. A series of clanging sounds rang out from the round shields, and the shield-bearer appeared unharmed before the archers. While they were busy nocking arrows, slick blades grazed their throats, blood gushing out, hot blood splattering their bodies as they collapsed to the ground.

Only a few heavy cavalrymen, defying the shield-bearer's unbelievable defense, thrust their long spears into the hole, only to have them shredded. The result was that the unarmed heavy cavalrymen were torn to pieces by the sharp shield blades.

Gradually, as the shield-bearers grew more ferocious in their killing, they unknowingly drifted away from the main formation. By the time they realized it, they were surrounded by light cavalry. Sensing danger, they gradually formed a circle, their right-hand round shields gently rotating in the air, creating a shield wall to block the onslaught of the charging cavalry. The light cavalrymen spurred their horses, circling around them and bellowing. Every now and then, a rider would leap out from the ranks, wielding his broadsword and slashing at the shield wall. A

clang of sword against shield, sparks flying, followed by a sudden weight on the shield-wielding warrior's hand before returning to normal. He realized the light cavalryman must possess considerable strength; otherwise, it would be impossible for his burly frame to withstand the force of the sword.

The soldiers who learned this relayed the information to Tie Niu. Tie Niu hesitated for a moment before shouting: "Soldiers! Don't stay still! We must move! Only then can we ensure the enemy doesn't keep attacking the same person! Move out!" Upon hearing Tie Niu's command, the ranks began to slowly incline, maintaining their circular formation as they moved step by step. The galloping light cavalry found themselves in a predicament. Although their blades struck the enemy's round shields, creating powerful impacts, the constant movement of their ranks made it impossible to land a single blow on the same enemy, extinguishing any hope of a breakthrough.

Almost simultaneously, after the double-shield infantry broke away from the triangular God-Slaying Formation, our army was once again engulfed in chaotic combat, further increasing the pressure on the round-shield infantry. However, the grappling hook soldiers once again displayed their prowess. Because the heavy and light cavalry were tied down by the double-shield infantry, the grappling hook soldiers aimed their hooks at the soldiers wielding round shields. Swish, swish, swish, grappling hooks flew towards the shields of the round-shield soldiers. Taking advantage of the soldiers' inattention, they grabbed the shields, dragging the shield-bearers over, and then, with a swift swipe of their halberds, the enemy soldiers were annihilated. The soldiers followed suit, dragging shield-bearers into our ranks and hacking them to death with halberds. However, some, terrified, dropped their shields and fled at the sight of the grappling hooks, unaware that the hooks were no longer gripping their shields, but their own flesh. With screams of agony, the hooks pierced their collarbones, pulling them into the enemy ranks; their fate was predictable.

Then, the enemy soldiers wielding logs unleashed their secret weapon: honeycomb-like holes suddenly appeared at the ends of their logs. They lightly raised the logs to their shoulders, pressed the top with their left hands, and instead of rockets, countless plumes of smoke shot out. Our soldiers, caught off guard, didn't realize the impending danger. They only saw the smoke hitting them without harm, and they launched another attack. In that instant, they suddenly felt their bodies swell as if they were growing larger, and then they lost consciousness. Their entire bodies rapidly expanded, black threads covering them, and with a bang, the warriors turned into a rain of blood and vanished. However, as the warriors exploded, a black thread had already silently disappeared, drifting southwest—towards the capital of the Hawk Empire—the City of Hope.

The enemy's projectiles were unexpectedly powerful, inflicting heavy losses on our army in an instant. While everyone was still in shock, they suddenly realized that if that thing hit again, they would be wiped out.

A sharp-eyed soldier saw the warriors holding logs rummaging through their bodies and shouted: "Quick! Quick, take this opportunity and attack! They're loading something!" Hearing this shout, the log-wielding warriors were startled, their hands pausing slightly, and they were immediately spotted by more soldiers. Seeing their comrades die inexplicably on those cylindrical objects, and now seeing the enemy soldiers still frantically loading their supplies, the soldiers, gritting their teeth and cursing, charged at the log soldiers.

The log soldiers, who hadn't yet loaded their supplies, were startled, their hands trembling in panic, and they were immediately put on the defensive. Swords and spears rained down on them; who told them to be so cruel in killing their comrades?
