Six Mysteries of Female Orgasm

British magazine *New Scientist* unveils the mysteries of female orgasm, perhaps answering your questions. 1. Women can have multiple orgasms. Research shows that after experiencing one orgasm, it's easier for a woman to achieve another, and this ease increases over time, as if finding a switch. Therefore, women can achieve orgasm through masturbation. 2. The G-spot does exist. The G-spot is a small area in the vagina that, when stimulated, can produce an extremely intense orgasm. An Italian study found differences in vaginal structure between women who have experienced G-spot orgasms and those who haven't. They even trained women with G-spots on how to achieve orgasm. 3. Women experience a mental blank during orgasm. Brain scans show that many areas of the female brain cease activity during orgasm, while this is less pronounced in men, likely due to shorter orgasm duration. 4. Many women don't experience orgasm. A survey in *JAMA* revealed that approximately 43% of American women experience sexual dysfunction and do not experience orgasm. 5. The frequency of orgasms is determined by genes. According to a genetic study, a woman's ability to experience orgasm is largely determined by her genes. Many women never experience orgasm, even through masturbation. Besides external factors, genetics has the most significant influence. 6. Age at marriage affects orgasm frequency. Women who marry before age 20 have the lowest frequency of orgasms. Among them, 34% never experience orgasm in the first year of marriage. This figure is only 22% for women who marry between 21 and 30, and only 17% for women who marry after age 30. This difference persists even 10 and 15 years after marriage.
Many factors influence female orgasm: these can be psychological, social, physiological, and even medical. But who would have thought that diet could play such a significant role? Research suggests that consuming more soybeans and soy products daily can enhance female libido. Amsterdam A. and colleagues at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center described a unique case: "We asked a female patient with low libido to consume 1.8 kg of soybeans and soy products daily. After one month, her low libido significantly improved, and she even experienced sustained orgasms." Studies have found that sustained orgasms in women are primarily characterized by heightened arousal around the perineum, with even mild stimulation leading to orgasm.
Amsterdam A. said, "I believe that eating soybeans and soy products to enhance libido is the most natural and safest method." While soybeans can indeed affect female libido, this is mainly due to the isoflavones they contain, as the structure and activity of these phytoestrogens are very similar to those of estrogen.
Instead of simply saying "eat soybeans," it's more accurate to say "eat soybeans and soy products." Soybeans offer numerous benefits for women: they can slow down cell aging, maintain skin elasticity, reduce bone loss, promote bone formation, lower blood lipids, and alleviate menopausal symptoms. Regular exercise can also help women achieve orgasm more easily .
Women who regularly engage in activities such as jogging, tennis, or rhythmic gymnastics at least twice a week experience greater sexual pleasure than women who do not participate in any exercise regularly. The results show that 80% of women who exercise regularly have increased confidence in their sex life and engage in more frequent sexual activity; 38% of women are more likely to reach orgasm during sex and experience a significantly longer duration of sexual pleasure.
Studies have shown that moderate exercise enhances sexual pleasure because it regulates the autonomic nervous system, improves the endocrine system, and significantly improves the pituitary gland's hormone secretion, thereby increasing testosterone levels and greatly enhancing libido. Exercise also strengthens the muscles of the abdomen and buttocks in women, effectively improving the tension of the vaginal and perineal muscles and correcting vaginal laxity after childbirth. This is highly beneficial for enhancing sexual pleasure. However, excessive or strenuous exercise increases the secretion of adrenal cortex hormones, which can suppress sex hormone production, cause hormonal imbalances, and induce physical and mental fatigue, ultimately leading to a loss of interest in sex.
