Chapter Sixteen: My Love is Like

Cotton. As Ling Junyi and Shaoyao spoke, they crossed the stone bridge along the carved balustrade. Willows swayed on both banks, and a small river meandered eastward. Jasmine, standing on the riverbank, bowed upon seeing them approach and said, "Reporting to the Vice Chief, the boat is ready. Please, Young Master Ling, board." Sure enough, a small, shuttle-shaped boat was moored on the riverbank. The cabin was open, and a strong woman rowed at both the bow and stern.

Shaoyao turned and smiled, saying, "I'll go down first." With that, she leaped lightly, like a falling leaf, landing gracefully in front of the cabin. She ducked inside, sat cross-legged, and waved, "Young Master Ling, come down quickly." Ling Junyi followed suit, leaping into the cabin. He glanced around and realized the cabin was pitifully small, barely enough for two people to sit cross-legged opposite each other. There was a small tea table on each side, and nothing else could be placed there.

Peony tilted her head back and giggled, "Hurry up and sit down, the boat's about to depart." Ling Junyi saw that the middle cabin of the boat was surprisingly small; the two of them sitting opposite each other were barely an inch apart, which was quite inconvenient for a lone man and woman. But now that they were already on board, they couldn't not sit down. A thought flashed through his mind, so he bent slightly and took half a step back, sitting down on a brocade stool opposite Peony, laughing, "This boat is really small."

Peony said, "This is our specially made speedboat; if the boat were any bigger, it wouldn't be able to fit." After Ling Junyi sat down, a strong woman at the bow immediately stood up and pushed up the canopy of the middle cabin.

This canopy was also specially made, with two layers, not only sturdy but also so dense that not a single ray of light could pass through. After the canopy was pushed up, the cabin was immediately pitch black, almost impossible to see one's hand in front of one's face. The phrase "almost pitch black" means that for most people, it would be completely dark, but Ling Junyi's cultivation was already at a superior level, allowing him to see clearly even in the darkest night, let alone in broad daylight. Just then, in this sudden darkness, Shaoyao took out an exquisite fire tube from a leather pouch beside her, and with a "snap," a flame appeared. She then turned and lit a delicate white copper and glass lamp on the table to her right. Ling Junyi felt the boat rock violently, followed by the rushing water and the sound of oars. He immediately understood, thinking, "That strong woman pulled up the awning before setting sail; she didn't want me to see the scenery outside."

Shaoyao lit a copper lamp and smiled brightly at Ling Junyi, saying, "Young Master Ling, do you find it strange that the awning was pulled up?"

Sitting opposite her, Ling Junyi subtly frowned, unable to maintain his composure. He casually replied, "Perhaps it's a sensitive area for your guild, and you don't want outsiders to spy on it."

Shaoyao's cherry lips parted, and she said, "I knew you always considered yourself an outsider. Tell me, who considered you an outsider?" Her words were tinged with anger and a slight cough, making her even more alluring. Even though Ling Junyi dared not look at her directly, sitting opposite her, he could see her even if he wanted to.

Before he could speak, Peony continued, "Besides, this boat wasn't specially built for your audience with the Emperor." That was true.

As she spoke, Ling Junyi heard the sound of the iron gate opening in the distance. It seemed the boat was about to leave the garden. He asked, "Then what is it for?"

Peony giggled, "It's alright to tell you, this is the Emperor's boat." Ling Junyi thought to himself, "Why is the Emperor's boat so well hidden?" He unconsciously uttered an "Oh."

Peony continued, "She doesn't want outsiders to see her, nor does she want anyone to know where she lives. In our gang, besides my eldest sister, third sister, and me, no one else has ever been to her secluded place. You are the only one the Elder has made an exception to summon, which shows how much the Elder values you."

Ling Junyi replied, "I am honored."

Peony's beautiful eyes were fixed on Ling Junyi as she asked, "Would you like to stay in our gang?"

Ling Junyi's heart skipped a beat, but he smiled faintly and said, "Your gang is all women; how could I possibly stay?"

Peony giggled and said, "If you just nod, I'll tell the Elder that there are men in our gang too."

Ling Junyi said, "Those are the guards..." "Flower Protector

," Peony said. "Don't underestimate the Flower Protectors. Many of them are disciples of prestigious sects and are highly skilled in martial arts. But if you, Young Master Ling, were willing to stay, you certainly wouldn't be sent to be a Flower Protector."

Ling Junyi deliberately asked, "What duties does the Vice Chief intend to assign me?"

Peony blushed slightly and said shyly, "With your literary and martial talents, would you be wronged? You don't need to ask any more questions now; I will speak to the Supreme Elder myself."

Ling Junyi smiled and said, "The Vice Chief should at least give me a general idea so I can consider it."

Peony's face turned even redder, and she lightly scolded, "Isn't it obvious that she has a sincere heart for you? Otherwise, would I have taken you to see the Supreme Elder?" Her words were clear enough.

Ling Junyi was startled. The man and woman were sitting face to face, and she had actually confessed her love openly. For a moment, he could only vaguely reply, "I am deeply grateful for the Vice Leader's intention to cultivate me. However, several of my friends have fallen into the hands of the Black Dragon Society and are being held hostage. Now that I know this, even if it's a dragon's den or a tiger's lair, I must go and rescue them. Therefore, I cannot stay in your esteemed gang."

Peony said sweetly, "I've heard from the Supreme Elder that the Black Dragon Society is utterly wicked and will surely harm the martial world in the future. I have long intended to wipe them out in one fell swoop. However, since those afflicted by their 'poison' are beyond saving, it has been delayed. Now that the antidote for the 'poison' has been made, the Supreme Elder is so pleased that she might even personally intervene! As long as we destroy the Black Dragon Society, your friends will be rescued, won't they?" "As they were talking, suddenly they heard a rushing sound, growing louder and louder!

Ling Junyi could tell that the sound of the water, mixed with a surging echo, seemed to have propelled the boat into a deep, vast cave! At the same time, he could feel the boat's momentum suddenly slow down, as it struggled against the current, making many turns. But after traveling only about twenty zhang, the boat slowly came to a stop. Ling Junyi couldn't help but ask, "Have we arrived?"

Shaoyao giggled, "Your ears are quite sharp."

Ling Junyi said, "I only sensed that the boat had stopped." As soon as he finished speaking, there was a "whoosh," and the boat's awning above their heads was moved aside. After the awning was pushed open, it was still pitch black, with no light in sight. The boat was moored beneath a dark stone wall." Ling Junyi thought to himself, "We've indeed entered the mountain cave."

Shaoyao had already stood up gracefully and said, "It's more than ten feet high from here to the cliff. I'll go up first and lead the way." With that, she leaped into the air and disappeared in a flash. Then, Shaoyao's voice came from the cliff: "Young Master Ling, you can come up now, but be careful, it's slippery here." Then, a small light flashed on the cliff.

Ling Junyi had night vision, so even without the light, he could see clearly. He replied, "I'm coming." He stood up and leaped towards the cliff. Not wanting to show off his martial arts in front of Shaoyao, he jumped sixteen or seventeen feet high, clearing the cliff, and landed where Shaoyao had stopped.

Shaoyao grabbed his arm and said, "Come closer, be careful, there's moss growing on the rocks outside." With that pull, their bodies were almost touching.

She lowered her head, and with a whoosh, blew on the fire tube in her hand, plunging the cave into darkness! In the darkness, Peony whispered, "Lighting lamps isn't allowed here. I was worried you couldn't see, and you might slip and fall if you weren't careful. I had to light the fire to guide you. From now on, you'll have to make do and walk in the dark." Before Ling Junyi could speak, she continued, "But it's alright, I know this path well. Just hold my hand, and you won't fall." As she spoke, she reached out her soft hand and took Ling Junyi's hand, saying affectionately, "Come on, let's go up. Oh, and from here, go up four or five steps further. There's a narrow gap ahead; you have to turn sideways to get through. Don't bump your head!" Holding hands, they began to walk upwards.

Ling Junyi didn't want her to know he had night vision, so he let her hold his hand and said, "Thank you, Vice Chief." He then strained his eyes to look around. Shaoyao was right; there was a crevice in the stone, and the further they went, the more cramped it became, with uneven ground underfoot. Anyone else would have needed Shaoyao to hold their hand to walk through it.

Although Peony knew the way well, she walked extremely carefully, whispering, "I told you not to be so polite with me anymore. Actually, you're a few years older than me; you're practically my older brother." She then suddenly uttered a soft "Oh," and asked, "Young Master Ling, who else is in your family?"

Ling Junyi replied, "Only my mother and I live in my humble abode."

Peony's eyes gleamed in the darkness as she asked, "Don't you have a sister?"

Ling Junyi said, "No."

Peony suddenly stopped, and said softly, "How about I be your sister?" Her soft, delicate body slowly nestled against Junyi's chest. Her words were full of deep affection, and in the darkness, her bright eyes could be vaguely seen.

Ling Junyi couldn't help but reach out and grasp her shoulders, slowly bringing his head closer. He whispered, "Miss, Ling Junyi is just a martial artist. You're too kind..."

Shaoyao gave a soft "hmm," snuggling even closer to him, and said, "Brother, I don't care..." She slowly pressed her face against his.

Ling Junyi could already smell the delicate fragrance of her lipstick, and his heart fluttered. His breathing quickened, and he said in a low voice, "I already have many female confidantes. I'm afraid I'm not worthy of your deep affection..."

Shaoyao's body trembled slightly, and she whispered to his lips, "Brother Ling, as long as I can be with you, I don't care about anything else..."

Their faces were very close, very close. Ling Junyi whispered, "No regrets?"

"Yes! Never regrets." Her lips were lightly touching his, and he boldly sucked on her cherry lips. She could only let out a soft "mmm," unable to speak. She no longer needed to speak; silence spoke volumes, their bodies pressed tightly together. Both hearts pounded wildly, both feeling a sense of suffocation; yet this was a meeting of souls, a breathtaking moment where they almost forgot everything else! The kiss was long, an eternity, before they slowly parted.

Ling Junyi whispered, "Sister..."

"Mmm...Big Brother..." Peony gave a shy, soft hum, all traces of her former arrogance gone.

Ling Junyi's face was still burning, and he hurriedly urged, "We should go."

Shaoyao said, "Let me hold your hand. This path will only be smooth after we pass through the crevice." As she spoke, she reached out and pulled Ling Junyi uphill, saying as they walked, "Brother, when you see the Empress Dowager, you mustn't speak. If she asks you anything, you must answer respectfully. Also, the Empress Dowager has a temper; she only asks you questions, she doesn't like others asking her. If you have anything to say, tell me first, and I'll speak later when the opportunity arises. Don't ask her any questions in front of her."

Ling Junyi nodded, "I understand."

The crevice was indeed very narrow, only wide enough for one person to squeeze through by pulling in their stomach and drawing in their chest. The rock face creaked, and a slight misstep would tear one's clothes. The path was also steep and treacherous, rising and falling erratically. Holding Ling Junyi's hand, Shaoyao's heart was now entirely focused on him! Walking close to the wall, she kept saying: "This step needs to be higher, that step is below, there's a stalagmite here, there's a gap there." She was used to navigating this dark, narrow crevice since childhood, knowing it like the back of her hand. In fact, Ling Junyi, without needing to explain, could see it perfectly well. It was only because Shaoyao was afraid Ling Junyi would slip and fall or hurt his head that she walked so slowly. The crevice was several dozen feet long, and it took the two of them, hand in hand, a full cup of hot tea's time to walk through it. Emerging from the crevice, the terrain opened up considerably. It was a natural cave, dark and damp, with the faint sound of dripping water.

Ling Junyi secretly wondered, "How could the Supreme Leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang live in a place like this?" He looked around; the cave had reached its end, with no other passage except for the crevice they had entered through! Peony, holding his hand, didn't stop but walked straight towards a stone wall opposite. Reaching the wall, she reached into a small hole. Just then, a voice from within the wall called out, "Who goes there?"

Peony replied, "I am Peony." As soon as she finished speaking, a rumbling sound echoed from the wall, and a large stone slowly slid aside, revealing a doorway! A beam of light shone from the doorway.

Then a tall, elderly woman in black stepped out, her gaze icy. She glanced at Ling Junyi and asked, "Is this the one the Empress Dowager wants to see?"

Shaoyao nodded and said, "His name is Ling Junyi." Turning back to Ling Junyi, she said, "Young Master Ling, let me introduce you. This is Granny Shi."

Ling Junyi hurriedly cupped his hands and said, "I greet Granny Shi."

The elderly woman in black showed no smile, only coldly saying, "No need for formalities, please go up quickly."

Shaoyao said, "Thank you, Granny Shi." Turning back to Ling Junyi, she said, "Let's go." She strode towards the stone gate.

Ling Junyi followed her through the stone gate. It was a slightly square stone chamber. A stone staircase led to them, and to the left was a doorway, which seemed to lead to Granny Shi's residence. Inside the stone gate, the walls and floor were quite smooth, and the stone staircase was wide, clearly man-made, unlike the narrow, rugged, and difficult path they had just traversed. Peony took a lantern from the stone wall, lit the candle, and smiled charmingly, "Young Master Ling, please follow me." She took the lead and walked up the stone steps.

This time the steps were wider, and with the lantern lit, there was no need to hold hands anymore. The steps zigzag, winding upwards. The two quickened their pace, and in less than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, they reached the end of the steps, where a stone wall blocked their way. Ling Junyi secretly estimated that they had climbed at least five or six hundred steps. Peony walked to the wall, raised her hand and pressed it twice. There was a slight creaking vibration, and a doorway appeared in the stone wall, letting in the sunlight, making their vision instantly bright! Peony blew out the candle, hung the lantern on the wall, and gestured, "Please, elder brother."

Ling Junyi didn't stand on ceremony, stepped out of the stone door, and felt a refreshing breeze, instantly invigorating him. Peony followed closely behind him, walked out of the stone door, and pressed it twice more. The stone door slowly opened and closed. Beyond the stone gate lay verdant mountains, halfway up which stood a hexagonal pavilion with six large red pillars and a railing carved with Buddhist characters. Outside the pavilion, the mountainside was covered with countless unknown exotic flowers and plants, their vibrant colors and intoxicating fragrance filling the air. Inside the pavilion, there was a smooth stone platform and several round stone stools, exuding an antique charm. The stone gate had been moved closed, and from the outside, it appeared as a stone tablet about the height of a person, inscribed with the "Record of the Hundred Flowers Pavilion," the calligraphy vigorous and elegant, likely the work of a renowned calligrapher. Ling Junyi asked in surprise, "Where is this place?"

Peony smiled and said, "On Hundred Flowers Isle is Hundred Flowers Valley, in Hundred Flowers Valley is Hundred Flowers Pavilion. White cranes come and go before the pavilion, and an old woman in the mountains has hair like stars."

Ling Junyi asked, "Did you write this poem?"

Peony gently shook her head and smiled, "It was written by the Empress Dowager. Every time she comes here, she recites this poem."

Ling Junyi said, "The Empress Dowager is quite a refined person."

Peony said, "She was proficient in all the arts, including music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. I heard that she was a great beauty when she was young."

Ling Junyi softly recited, "On Hundred Flowers Isle is Hundred Flowers Valley, in Hundred Flowers Valley is Hundred Flowers Pavilion..." and asked, "Is this place called Hundred Flowers Valley?"

Peony said "Oh," and then said, "Let's go quickly. After you turn this mountainside, you must not speak anymore." She turned and walked towards the stone-paved mountain path.

Ling Junyi continued forward, asking, "Why?"

Shaoyao replied, "The Supreme One doesn't like people asking her all sorts of questions, especially since she has already developed 'Heavenly Ears.' Once we turn the corner, she'll hear everything we say."

Ling Junyi replied, "I understand." The two quickened their pace, rounding the mountainside, and came upon a valley filled with blooming flowers. Amidst the lush forests and bamboo groves, pavilions and terraces were faintly visible, and long corridors and flying pavilions seemed to connect the perilous cliffs and verdant peaks—a truly picturesque scene, if not a fairyland, then certainly a paradise on earth. The "Juechen Manor," that vast garden, while possessing magnificent flowers, trees, and pavilions, still bore the marks of human intervention

in every hill and valley. This valley, bursting with blossoms, however, seemed to be a perfect blend of nature and natural beauty. Ling Junyi couldn't help but praise, "If I didn't know this was the hermitage of the Supreme Lord, just looking at the arrangement of this valley, I could imagine that its owner must be a man of extraordinary talent and wisdom."

Hearing his sudden remark, Shaoyao was startled and tried to stop him, but it was too late. However, hearing his words of praise, she felt slightly relieved. Just then, a cold snort suddenly drifted from afar. This cold snort wasn't very loud, but it was remarkably clear, seemingly both distant and close at hand, making it elusive. Peony, hearing it, paled, her quick wit faltering, and whispered, "Quick, let's go!" She hurried towards the valley.

Ling Junyi naturally recognized the profound power in that deep snort; it was undoubtedly from the "Supreme One." He had only been admiring the valley scenery and had casually uttered a few words of praise; why the cold snort? It seemed this "Supreme One" was indeed somewhat eccentric. No wonder Peony, the leader of the Hundred Flowers Clan, had repeatedly warned him to speak sparingly in her presence. Thinking this, he followed Peony into the mountain path. Before long, they arrived before an exquisite building.

Peony stopped in her tracks, turned around, and said, "Come in with me." She led Ling Junyi into a small guest room, then turned back and said, "Young Master Ling, please sit here for a moment. I'll go in and inform the Elder, then come back to invite you again."

Ling Junyi said, "Please make yourself at home, Vice Chief." Peony didn't say anything more and turned to hurry inside.

Ling Junyi sat down alone on a chair. He had assumed that Peony would go in to announce him and come out soon, but after waiting for the time it takes to eat a meal, there was still no sign of her. He gradually became impatient, stood up, put his hands behind his back, and looked at the calligraphy and paintings hanging on the wall. After another quarter of an hour, he heard light footsteps at the door. Ling Junyi immediately turned around and saw a girl wearing a floral cotton shirt and trousers. The girl was only fifteen or sixteen years old, with beautiful features, a row of bangs on her forehead, and two black and shiny braids hanging down to her chest. A faint smile played on her lips, and she still looked somewhat childish. She stepped through the door, just as Ling Junyi turned around. The young girl's bright black eyes stopped abruptly upon seeing Ling Junyi, and her cheeks instantly flushed red. This was understandable; having lived for years in this secluded valley, she had never seen a man before, much less such a handsome young man! She was so shy that she could barely speak.

Seeing her silence, Ling Junyi hurriedly smiled and said, "Did the Vice Chieftain send you to summon me, young lady?"

The girl in the flowery dress regained her composure and nodded shyly, saying, "You are Young Master Ling? The Grand Master invites you in."

Ling Junyi clasped his hands in a fist salute and said, "Then I'll trouble you to lead the way, young lady."

The girl in the flowery dress lowered her head, quickly turned around, and said, "Young Master Ling, please follow me."

Stepping out of the small guest room, they entered a corridor facing the valley. The surrounding green mountains stood like a screen, and waterfalls cascaded like ribbons; the entire valley scenery was laid out before them! Ahead stood a five-story building, with a large hall in the center resembling a Buddhist shrine. On a long table in the center sat a white jade Guanyin statue, indicating that this "Supreme Leader" was a lifelong vegetarian and devout Buddhist. A girl in floral clothes led Ling Junyi into the shrine, to the door of a side room on the east side. Standing by the window, she bowed and said, "Reporting to the Supreme Leader, Young Master Ling has arrived."

A woman's voice came from inside the window: "Let him in."

The girl in floral clothes lifted the curtain and said softly, "Young Master Ling, please come in."

Ling Junyi bowed slightly and stepped into the room. This was apparently the "Supreme Leader's" daily living quarters. At the head of the room was a carved sandalwood couch, upon which sat a woman dressed in black. She had a thin, pointed face, fair skin, and slightly graying hair, but it was neatly combed without a single stray strand. A black velvet turban was worn on her forehead, adorned with a bright pearl. Judging from her imposing and dignified demeanor, she was undoubtedly the Supreme Leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang. Peony stood behind her, hands at her sides, extremely respectful. On either side of the brocade couch were eight chairs and tables, with an eight-immortal table in the center. On the table were a bowl of "poison" and a small bottle of her own concocted antidote. No wonder Peony had taken so long to be invited; it turned out the "Supreme One" wanted her to test the antidote's effectiveness in person. This was a matter of a fleeting glance. Ling Junyi had barely stepped into the room

when he heard Peony say sweetly, "Young Master Ling, this is our sect's Supreme One." Standing behind the "Supreme One," she subtly winked at Ling Junyi, then pursed her lips, seemingly indicating for him to bow.

Ling Junyi feigned ignorance, took two steps forward, clasped his hands in a deep bow, and said, "I, Ling Junyi, pay my respects to the Supreme One." The

Supreme One remained seated, his two cold, electric eyes fixed on Ling Junyi, as if trying to find something in his face. After a long pause, she coldly said, "Sit down first."

Ling Junyi replied, "How dare I sit before Your Majesty?" This was merely a polite remark. The

Empress Dowager was slightly displeased and said coldly, "I told you to sit, so sit. I have something to ask you." Peony anxiously gave him a meaningful look, signaling him to sit down immediately.

Ling Junyi smiled nonchalantly and said, "I'll obey your command. Thank you for the seat." He took two steps back and sat down on a chair on the left side of the brocade couch, raising his face and saying, "Your Majesty's summons is most gracious. I am at your service."

The Empress Dowager seemed to show displeasure and said impatiently, "I said I had something to ask you."

Ling Junyi asked, "What does Your Majesty want to ask?"

The Empress Dowager said coldly, "Your surname is Ling?" This question was strange, and Ling Junyi replied, "Yes." The Empress Dowager

then asked, "Where are you from?" Ling Junyi

replied, "Yingzhou." The Empress Dowager

pressed further, "Your ancestral home?" Ling Junyi again replied, "Yes."

The Empress Dowager asked, "What was your father's name?" This felt like an exam, requiring him to recite three generations of his family history.

Ling Junyi found it strange; this "Empress Dowager" seemed very concerned about his origins, and her gaze was cold and unfriendly as she stared at him. "This is odd. What have I done to offend her?" As this thought crossed his mind, he answered, "My late father's name was Rui Tu."

"Ling Rui Tu?" the Empress Dowager murmured, then asked, "Your father has passed away?" Ling Junyi replied, "Yes." The Empress Dowager asked

, "How many years has it been since his death?"

Ling Junyi said, "I was only three years old when my father abandoned me, so it has been nineteen years." The Empress Dowager continued, "What did your father do in life?" Her questions grew increasingly curious, even surprising the maid, Shaoyao, who stood behind her.

Ling Junyi said, "My father made a living by farming and studying." Farming and studying—truly a scholarly family.

The Grand Elder then asked, "Who else is in your family?"

Ling Junyi replied, "Only my mother."

The Grand Elder asked, "What is your mother's surname?"

Seeing the detailed questioning, Ling Junyi became wary. He also remembered his master's instructions before his departure: if anyone asked about his mother's surname, he must not say it was Tie. Hearing the Grand Elder ask about his mother's surname, he casually replied, "My mother's surname is Wang." As soon as the words left his mouth, he suddenly remembered that he had told the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader that his mother's surname was Tie, but the words were already out and could not be taken back. Fortunately, the Grand Elder did not pursue the matter further. This proved that the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader had not reported his details to the Grand Elder—yes! She [the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader] had also not told Shaoyao his details the night before.

The Grand Elder's expression seemed to soften slightly, and she nodded, saying, "Very good." Hearing these two words, Shaoyao finally breathed a sigh of relief for Ling Junyi. The Grand Elder then asked, "I see your martial arts are not weak. Who is your master?" This question made Shaoyao somewhat worried again!

Before the Supreme Elder, she had to answer every question, but Ling Junyi had once said that his master did not wish for anyone to know, so how could she tell the Supreme Elder this? A sudden urgency gripped her, and she quickly nodded to Ling Junyi, signaling him to speak. This time, Ling Junyi complied, bowing and replying, "I am from Shaolin."

The Supreme Elder nodded, "Are you a disciple of Jingang Tai?

" Ling Junyi replied, "No."

The Supreme Elder asked again, "Then are you a disciple of Master Qianshan?" Master Qianshan was the abbot of Shaolin.

Ling Junyi said, "No."

The Supreme Elder impatiently asked, "Then who is your master?"

Ling Junyi replied, "My master's Dharma name is Bu Tong."

The Supreme Elder's body trembled slightly, and she stared intently, "Are you a disciple of Fanshou Rulai?" Her tone was more surprised than astonished! She didn't care about Shaolin disciples, but a disciple of Fanshou Rulai was someone she couldn't afford to offend. Not only her, but in the martial world, for the past twenty or thirty years, almost no one in either the righteous or the wicked had dared to offend this Bu Tong monk, who could be both righteous and wicked.

This was truly remarkable. She had been talking to Ling Junyi for quite some time, and the old woman's thin face remained as cold as ice. But upon hearing that Ling Junyi was a disciple of the monk "The Buddha Who Doesn't Understand the Way," her face thawed like a spring breeze, a slight smile appearing, though it held a hint of smugness. Why was she so smug about Ling Junyi being a disciple of "The Buddha Who Doesn't Understand the Way"? Of course, there was more to this "smugness" than met the eye. Ling Junyi was far from understanding this; he couldn't fathom it. All he saw was the smile on the old woman's face.

The old woman's tone softened as she slowly said, "Your master is a highly respected monk, a martial arts prodigy. I have long admired him, but unfortunately, I have never had the opportunity to meet him. Mr. Ling is a worthy disciple of your master;

it is truly an honor for me to meet you." This was a classic case of initial stubbornness followed by obsequiousness. There are many spoiled brats from wealthy and powerful families who can get along well everywhere because they have powerful backers. Ling Junyi bowed slightly, repeatedly saying he dared not accept such praise. Peony, standing behind the Supreme Elder, was deeply surprised. She had never heard the Supreme Elder speak so politely to anyone. Looking at Ling Junyi, she secretly felt smug and couldn't help but smile at him. Another smug person! The Supreme Elder continued, "Young Master Ling has prepared an antidote for the 'poison' for me, for which I am extremely grateful." He should have been grateful long ago.

Ling Junyi bowed and said, "Supreme Elder is too kind. The Black Dragon Society uses 'poison' to temper weapons and hidden weapons; those afflicted are beyond help, and it will surely harm the martial world in the future. My ability to serve your esteemed group by preparing the antidote can be considered a small act of kindness, so that our fellow martial artists will no longer be threatened by the 'poison.' I am unworthy of such gratitude from Supreme Elder."

The Supreme Elder nodded and said, "Sir Ling, you are a chivalrous and righteous man, truly with a bodhisattva's heart. However, I have a deep grudge against the Black Dragon Society. Could you please tell me the formula for the antidote?" "

What antidote does Ling Junyi have?" He had long anticipated that the Supreme Elder would bring this up, but he couldn't come up with a good reason. Hearing this, he hesitated, his face showing difficulty, and said, "This..."

Peony quickly said, "Supreme Elder, if Young Master Ling is too embarrassed to say it, let me speak for him." The Supreme Elder

turned his face slightly and said, "Go ahead."

Peony smiled sweetly, looked at Ling Junyi with deep affection, and said, "I also asked Young Master Ling, and he said: His safety here is uncertain, and if he hands over the antidote, we might harm him." The

Supreme Elder was not angry at all, and nodded slightly, saying, "The martial world is dangerous, and people's hearts are treacherous. Young Master Ling's concerns are reasonable, but I have devoted my life to Buddhism and founded the Hundred Flowers Gang only to deal with the Black Dragon Society. How could I be so ruthless?"

Peony said, "That's what I said too." Ling Junyi cupped his hands and said, "

Your Excellency, please do not misunderstand. Since I am willing to prepare the antidote for your gang, how could I have such intentions towards your gang? It's just that the deputy gang leader asked me for the prescription, and I had no answer at the time, so I had to say this. In fact..."

The elder's gaze fell on him, and she asked, "What is it that you, Master Ling, have that is difficult to say? Please speak freely." Ling Junyi suddenly had an idea, and this time he thought of how to answer her question! He had seen a significant change in the elder's expression after he mentioned his master's name. Why not put the blame for the antidote prescription on his master? So he bowed and replied, "Your Excellency, please understand. This antidote prescription was obtained by my master from a high monk in the Western Regions. It is a cure for all kinds of poisons in the world. I am only preparing it for your gang according to the prescription. As for the prescription, I dare not disclose it without my master's permission. I hope Your Excellency will forgive me for this." "That's a reasonable and understandable statement.

Sure enough, Ling Junyi's guess was correct!" Upon hearing it was the secret formula for the "Reversed Hand Tathagata," the Supreme Elder stopped pressing the matter and smiled calmly, saying, "Lord Ling, there's no need to trouble yourself. Every sect has its secrets, how could I force you? Fortunately, Lord Ling has already prepared two vats of antidote for us, which should be enough."

Peony said, "Supreme Elder, Young Master Ling said that the two vats of antidote he prepared will only be effective for three months."

The Supreme Elder said, "That's right, the medicine is made of water and doesn't keep well." She suddenly exclaimed "Oh!" and looked at Ling Junyi, saying, "I have a request, but I wonder if Young Master Ling would be willing to grant it?"

Ling Junyi bowed and said, "Your Excellency is too kind. Please tell me your instructions."

The old woman said kindly, "I founded the Hundred Flowers Gang, and everyone in the gang, from the leader to the flower maids, is my disciple. However, our gang also has many envoys who are recruited from various sects. Young Master Ling's skills are beyond question, including his ability to perform the 'Reverse Hand Tathagata' move. I know that a small organization like the Hundred Flowers Gang cannot accommodate Young Master Ling, and I dare not recruit him under the guise of 'envoys.' But in my heart, I sincerely hope that Young Master Ling will assist the Hundred Flowers Gang and protect it. Therefore, I wish to appoint Young Master Ling as a protector of our gang. What do you think, Young Master Ling?"

Peony, standing behind the old woman, smiled. Ling Junyi repeatedly cupped his hands and said, "Your Excellency is too kind. I am still inexperienced in the martial world and dare not accept such a request." As for your gang's need for the antidote to the "poison," I will certainly prepare it for you at any time. I hope Your Excellency will understand my humble sincerity.

The Supreme Elder glanced at him and said, "I can see that you, Lord Ling, are an exceptional person, and our Hundred Flowers Gang cannot keep you here. However, our gang's protector holds a superior position, completely different from a flower protector, and does not need to stay in the gang for long. This is quite suitable for you, Lord Ling. I hope you will not refuse."

Ling Junyi said, "I am very grateful for Your Excellency's kind intentions, but I am young and inexperienced, and I really dare not accept such an important task." The Supreme Elder's

expression was somewhat strange, and he remained silent. Now, Peony was anxious. Her willow eyebrows furrowed slightly, and her beautiful eyes looked at Ling Junyi, but she nodded to him secretly, indicating that he should agree quickly. Ling Junyi said, "I am being presumptuous, but there is something I would like to ask Your Excellency for guidance on."

The Supreme Elder nodded and asked with focused attention, "What does Lord Ling wish to ask?" "

Ling Junyi said, "I would like to ask the Grand Master for directions to the Black Dragon Society's lair."

The Grand Master's expression changed, her gaze sharpening as she asked, "Does Master Ling wish to find the Black Dragon Society's lair?"

Ling Junyi replied, "Indeed."

The Grand Master slowly withdrew her gaze and said, "Indeed, Master Ling has asked the right person. The Black Dragon Society is elusive; aside from their close associates, I am probably the only one in the martial world who knows their lair." She then changed the subject, asking, "What brings Master Ling to the Black Dragon Society?" As she spoke, her eyes gleamed, as if trying to see through Ling Junyi's thoughts.

Ling Junyi naturally noticed that her expression changed upon hearing him mention the Black Dragon Society, and now she was staring intently at him, pressing him about his purpose in going there. "Is there some secret between the Black Dragon Society and the Hundred Flowers Gang?" Ling Junyi's mind raced, and he said, "I heard from the steward that I have two friends who have fallen into the hands of the Black Dragon Society. They see them as your esteemed protectors and demand that you exchange them for me."

The Grand Elder said, "I've already heard about this from Shaoyao. What are your plans, Master Ling?"

Ling Junyi replied, "My two friends are my sworn brothers; I would go without hesitation. I hope the Grand Elder can inform me of the Black Dragon Society's hideout. Saving them is urgent; I intend to depart immediately."

The Empress Dowager nodded and smiled, "Lord Ling, your courage and loyalty are truly admirable. I admire you immensely. However, the Black Dragon Society is full of experts. Even if Lord Ling possesses the skill of the 'Reversal of the Hand,' going into danger alone will not only fail to save your friend, but you yourself will likely perish as well..." She paused slightly, then continued, "My hatred for the Black Dragon Society runs deep. For the past twenty years, I have remained patient and restrained. Firstly, there is no antidote for their 'poison.' Secondly, I am alone and outnumbered, and I know I cannot fight against so many. I founded the Hundred Flowers Gang precisely to deal with them..."

Ling Junyi silently exclaimed "Oh!" The Empress Dowager continued, "Now, thanks to Heaven's mercy and Lord Ling's help, there is an antidote for the 'poison.' After twenty years of my efforts, the Hundred Flowers Gang has trained a hundred female disciples. Lord Ling, please stay in the gang for a day or two while I make some arrangements. I will personally go there to settle this twenty-year-old score." "If Master Ling wishes to save your friend, you may come with me." Without waiting for Ling Junyi's reply, she turned to Shaoyao and instructed, "Shaoyao, have Chahua escort Master Ling down the mountain."

Shaoyao replied, "I'd rather have this disciple escort Young Master Ling down the mountain."

Taishang said, "No, you stay here. I have other instructions."

Shaoyao responded with "Yes," and immediately moved lightly to the door, calling, "Chahua, come in." The girl in the flowery dress lifted the curtain and entered, bowing and asking, "What are your instructions, Vice Chief?"

Shaoyao said, "Taishang orders you to escort Young Master Ling down the mountain."

Chahua secretly glanced at Ling Junyi, her cheeks slightly flushed, and responded with "Yes," turning to Ling Junyi and saying, "Young Master Ling, please follow me."

Ling Junyi rose and bowed to Taishang, saying, "I take my leave."

Taishang nodded, saying, "I will not see you off."

After Ling Junyi left, Taishang's face immediately turned very gloomy, saying... "What do you think of this man, Peony?" Taishang asked.

Peony was startled and replied, "I think we absolutely cannot let him leave."

Taishang gave her an approving look and nodded, saying, "Indeed, the moment I saw this boy, I had the intention to get rid of him."

Peony asked in surprise, "Taishang wants to kill him?"

Taishang snorted and said, "I didn't expect this boy to be the disciple of the Reversing Hand Tathagata."

Peony understood the implication in Taishang's words; it seemed that the disciple of the Reversing Hand Tathagata couldn't be killed. She was secretly pleased and asked, "Is the Reversing Hand Tathagata very powerful?"

Taishang said, "Thirty years ago, he caused a great disturbance at Shaolin Temple and rebelled against Buddhism. No one in Shaolin Temple is his match anymore. Think about how powerful this old monster is. In recent years, he has never taken on any disciples. Since he has taken on this young man surnamed Ling, he is naturally his successor. If I kill this boy, will the Reversing Hand Tathagata let it go?"

Peony tentatively asked, "Then what does Taishang plan to do?" "

The Supreme One chuckled and said, 'I have my own plan.' He reached into his sleeve and took out a white pill, handing it over casually . He said, 'Go give this to Yulan and tell her to secretly put it in his food so that the man surnamed Ling can take it. There must be no mistake.'

'A love potion?' Peony reached out to take it, her hand already trembling slightly.

The Supreme One gave her a cold look and said, 'Only by making him take the love potion can we ensure his eternal loyalty to the Hundred Flowers Gang and avoid offending the Rebel Buddha.'

Peony said, 'The Supreme One is right.'

The Supreme One waved his hand and said, 'Also, go tell your eldest sister that tomorrow at noon, I will personally select my attendants at the Hundred Flowers Hall. I order all the Flower Protectors and disciples of this gang to assemble at dawn to await selection.' Peony bowed and hurried away.

The news that the Supreme One was going to 'personally lead the campaign' had already spread throughout the Hundred Flowers Gang!" The thirty-six Flower Protectors and the Flower Maidens of a Hundred Flowers were all excited and eager to fight. Before it was completely dark, the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader returned from the front hall, her steps heavy. She entered the study of the "Immortal Spring Pavilion," having only relayed one order in the front hall, yet she seemed as exhausted as if she had just recovered from a serious illness! She walked to a large chair by the window and sat down, unable to support herself any longer. She propped her chin on her hand and slowly closed her eyes. Jasmine opened her pretty eyes wide and asked with concern, "Gang Leader, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader shook her head slightly and said, "Nothing, I'm just a little dizzy."

Jasmine quickly poured a bowl of hot tea and placed it in front of her, saying, "Gang Leader, a sip of hot tea might help."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said, "Just leave it there." Just then, light footsteps came from the doorway, and Magnolia stepped in.

Riley bowed and said, "This humble servant greets the Chief Steward."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader opened her eyes and said weakly, "Third Sister, you've come."

Yulan said, "The Gang Leader just instructed me to come to your study after I've finished my business ."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader nodded and said, "That's right. I have something to discuss with you." Saying this, she glanced at Jasmine and ordered, "You stand at the door. No one is allowed to enter without my permission."

Riley bowed and said, "This humble servant obeys." She turned and left.

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said, "Third Sister, please sit down."

Yulan looked at the Gang Leader's expression and asked, "Is the Gang Leader feeling unwell?"

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader shook her head slightly and said, "No, I'm fine."

Yulan did not sit down and continued, "Is there anything the Gang Leader needs me to do?"

"Oh." The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader gave a weak "oh," reached into her robe, and slowly took out a white pill, handing it to Yulan. Yulan's gaze sharpened, and she exclaimed in astonishment, "A sleeping potion?"

"Oh," the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader murmured softly.

Yulan reached out and took the pill, looking up at the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader, puzzled. "What are you doing, Gang Leader?" she asked.

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader's large, clear eyes gradually welled up with tears, and she sighed softly, "Take it and give it to him."

Yulan's body trembled, and she asked in surprise, "Give it to him?" The two of them seemed to be speaking in riddles; the word "him" was unspoken, neither revealing the other's meaning.

"Oh," the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader murmured weakly, as if she were about to collapse.

Yulan's right hand, holding the white pill, trembled. She looked up and asked, "This... is this your intention, Gang Leader?" Her heart trembled even more violently than her hand, and even her voice carried a hint of indignation.

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang shook her head slightly and said with a bitter smile, "Third Sister, you've misunderstood me."

Yulan asked, "Whose idea was that?"

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang replied, "It was the Supreme Elder's idea."

Yulan's delicate body trembled violently, and she exclaimed, "The Supreme Elder's idea?"

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang sighed deeply and said, "I expected this to happen."

Yulan whispered, "Can we do this?"

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang said, "What can we do?"

Yulan pressed further, "Leader, are you heartless?"

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang smiled bitterly, "Third Sister, neither of us can save him."

Yulan said, "If the leader has such a heart..."

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang stopped her in time, interrupting, "Third Sister, you can't say that."

Yulan was taken aback and said, "This subordinate thinks he's a talented person, and it would be a pity if you missed him, Leader."

"I..." The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang shook her head shyly.

Yulan said softly, "I can see that you've developed feelings for him." The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang lowered her head.

Yulan continued, "If you really care, elder sister, I'm willing to risk my life tonight to make him..."

Suddenly, two lines of tears welled up in the eyes of the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader, who shook her head and said, "Third sister, I'm grateful to you, but this isn't a solution."

Yulan said, "Eldest sister, are you really going to make him take the Sleeping Incense Pill?"

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said, "Third sister, you know that taking this pill, besides ensuring he'll never have a change of heart, doesn't do much harm to his body."

Yulan said, "That's true, but it will ruin his life."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said, "I don't think so." After a pause, she continued, "I've considered it for a long time. We can't disobey the Supreme Lord's will, so let him take it for now..."

Yulan said, "Eldest sister should know that there's no antidote for this pill."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader suddenly laughed, "Third sister, don't forget, we didn't have an antidote for the 'Poison Juice' either." Yulan let out a soft "Ah."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader continued, "I just heard Second sister say that he's a disciple of the Reversed Hand Tathagata, and the antidote is a secret formula from his sect that specializes in treating rare poisons. Since it can cure the 'Poison Juice,' it can naturally cure the 'Sleeping Incense Pill.'" Yulan's eyes lit up, and she let out another "Ah."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader continued softly, "So what I mean is, why don't we let him take it first to get through tomorrow, and then we can figure something out later."

Yulan said, "So, Eldest Sister already had a plan."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said, "But I still need to discuss it with Third Sister before I can decide."

Yulan said, "Eldest Sister is right. If we don't follow the instructions from the Supreme Elder and don't cooperate with the local authorities, we won't pass tomorrow. Fortunately, the 'Bewitching Pill' is relatively mild. As long as one is sincere and willing to take it, there will be no second thoughts, and it won't have a big impact on one's mind. We can figure something out after tomorrow."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader looked at her gratefully and said softly, "Third Sister, I am very grateful for your kindness."

Yulan said, "Eldest Sister, what are you saying? We're sisters, why are you so grateful? I just hope..."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said gently, "Third Sister, don't worry, I'll take care of you."

Yulan felt her face flush and shyly called out, "Eldest Sister..."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said, "Third Sister, there's no need to say anything more. It's almost time. Go quickly." "

Yulan said, "I obey." She bowed and turned to leave. She had just stepped out of the study when she suddenly stopped, exclaiming in surprise, "Eh!"

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang naturally heard her, his heart skipped a beat, and he hurriedly followed, asking, "Sister..." His gaze fell upon her, and his expression changed drastically. He asked, "What's wrong with Jasmine?"

Jasmine, who had been ordered to guard the study door, was now leaning against the wall with her eyes closed, seemingly dozing off. It wasn't completely dark yet; it wasn't the middle of the night. Would she be so sleepy as to stand and doze off? Yulan reached out and tapped several acupoints on her, but she remained unconscious. Yulan's brows furrowed slightly as she said, "Jasmine doesn't seem to be under the influence of acupoint manipulation."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader, her gaze fixed intently, remained silent. She walked to Jasmine, extended her slender fingers, lifted her eyelids, examined her, then grasped Jasmine's left hand, pressed her pulse, and said, "Her Qi is flowing smoothly, her pulse is even. Clearly, she's not under the influence of acupoints; she seems to be truly asleep." She then gently patted Jasmine's cheek twice, calling out, "Jasmine, wake up!" Jasmine's head was limp, but she remained unresponsive. Suddenly, Yulan's heart skipped a beat. She quickly turned back, fetched a cup of cold tea, and splashed it on Jasmine's face. Jasmine's body trembled, and she abruptly opened her eyes.

Yulan snorted and said, "As expected, you've been poisoned by the thief's finger-flicking incense."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader stared at Jasmine

and asked, "How could you have been poisoned by the thief's incense? Did you see who it was?" Jasmine opened her eyes wide and said, "No, I'm standing here and I didn't see anything. Just now... I just felt my eyelids getting heavy, like I was dozing off."

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader said angrily, "Stupid girl, you've fallen for their trick and you don't even know it."

Jasmine said in a panic, "I really didn't see anyone."

Yulan said, "Go and check on Ruixiang and Qiangwei. Have they also been poisoned?" Ruixiang and Qiangwei were on duty at the gate of "Xianchun Pavilion" today. Qiangwei agreed and immediately ran outside.

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader frowned and said, "Third Sister, do you think this person might be..." She didn't finish her sentence, but tilted her head and looked at Yulan with a questioning gaze.

Yulan said, "I don't think it's Second Sister. She's been gone for a while, and this person used the Finger Flicking Incense technique, which Second Sister isn't familiar with." The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader hadn't revealed who it was, but Yulan had.

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader sighed softly, "It's good it's not Second Sister. If she had overheard what we were saying and it reached the Supreme Elder's ears, it would have been disastrous."

Yulan pondered, "This person used Finger Flicking Incense; infiltrating the Immortal Spring Pavilion must have a purpose. Clearly, they're not one of our gang's sisters." Just then, Jasmine and Ruixiang hurriedly entered.

Yulan pointed at them and asked, "Ruixiang, you and Rose were on duty at the door. Did you see anyone come in?"

Ruixiang bowed and said, "Reporting to the Steward, no one came in except you."

Yulan's expression changed slightly, and she waved her hand, saying, "You can go now; there's nothing more for you here." Ruixiang bowed again and hurriedly left.

Yulan looked at the leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang and said, "Eldest sister, judging from this, this person came in through the window from the back. He knows the layout of our Hua Family Manor very well..."

The leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang nodded slightly and said, "Third sister, you should go quickly, don't delay the important matters. I will send someone to investigate what happened here." Yulan responded with "Yes" and then took her leave.

Ling Junyi returned to his residence very late. As soon as he entered, he saw Xinyi sitting on a chair by the door, dozing off. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly and quietly shook her awake: "Xinyi, wake up, why are you sleeping here? Be careful not to catch a cold."

Xinyi opened her eyes and said with surprise, "It's you, young master, you're back. I heard you went to see the Empress Dowager and I was a little worried, so I sat here waiting for you to come back."

Ling Junyi's heart warmed. What a lovely little girl. He reached out and pulled Xinyi into his arms, kissing her. Xinyi let out a soft "oh," and slumped into Ling Junyi's arms. After a while, Ling Junyi released the panting Xin Yi and whispered, "Why are you so good to me?"

Xin Yi blushed and whispered, "This humble servant can't do anything else for you, young master, I can only do my best to serve you well."

Ling Junyi whispered, "Would you like to stay?"

Xin Yi nodded, blushing. Ling Junyi was about to help her undress when Xin Yi said shyly, "Young master, let me do it myself."

Ling Junyi released her, and Xin Yi shyly turned her body away, facing away from him. Ling Junyi looked at her increasingly bare shoulders and back; Xin Yi's snow-white skin was dazzling in the dim candlelight. Xin Yi heard a rustling sound and thought that Ling Junyi was also undressing. Her face flushed red, and she was too ashamed to turn around and face him.

Ling Junyi gently turned Xin Yi's shoulders, and Xin Yi struggled slightly, letting Ling Junyi turn her body around so that the two of them were naked facing each other. Xin Yi's face remained flushed and lowered. Ling Junyi scrutinized her fair, pearl-like skin. Her breasts, though small, were full, and her abdomen was smooth and supple. A few sparse hairs connected to her shallow navel, gradually thickening and becoming denser as she moved downwards, before disappearing abruptly between her plump legs, forming a dark, thick inverted triangle. This gave her an aura unique to mature women.

Ling Junyi laid Xin Yi on the bed and placed his hand on her soft abdomen, gently caressing it. Xin Yi couldn't help but let out a soft moan of satisfaction. When Ling Junyi's fingers lightly touched the sparse pubic hair, Xin Yi trembled as if tickled. Ling Junyi gently parted Xin Yi's legs, revealing a pair of pink labia at the base of her thighs, the scene inside her vagina laid bare before his eyes. Ling Junyi gently rubbed the fleshy nipple in the middle of her small lips, his fingers lightly stroking the fleshy part. Xin Yi couldn't help but groan once again.

"Ah...Young Master...No...Don't...Mmm..." Xin Yi's back arched, uttering soft moans, her waist twisting as Ling Junyi's fingers stirred inside her vagina.

"Mmm...So...comfortable...Mmm..." Xin Yi's eyes were tightly closed, her long eyelashes trembling. Ling Junyi buried his face in Xin Yi's chest, his lips on her nipple, his chest rubbing against her lower body.

"Ah...Ah..." When Ling Junyi's tongue lightly brushed against her nipple, Xin Yi arched her upper body, offering her chest to him.

"Ah...No...Mmm...So embarrassing...Mmm..." Xin Yi's shy voice echoed in the room, but Ling Junyi ignored it, pressing his palm against her vulva and inserting his middle finger inside.

Xin Yi shuddered, almost moaning in pain, "Ah...it hurts...Young Master...be gentle..." Ling Junyi was secretly startled by Xin Yi's reaction. He felt the muscles of her vagina contracting as if breathing, and writhing as if sucking, and there was a lot of vaginal fluid, allowing his fingers to barely move inside the narrow opening. Ling Junyi's fingers probed and rubbed inside her vagina, which was also stimulated to the point of constant heat, wetting not only his palm but also his entire lower body.

"Ah...um...Young Master...more...harder...um...ah...I can't...take it...um..." Xin Yi twisted her waist incessantly, beginning to moan lasciviously.

Ling Junyi's head left Xin Yi's chest and continued to slide upwards until their lips met, and his penis rested precisely on her labia. Ling Junyi inserted his tongue into Xin Yi's mouth and stirred it, as if implying that his penis would also be stirred inside her vagina in the same way later. Xin Yi seemed to understand, her waist swaying as if she were thirsty. Her long, slender legs were spread apart and bent. Ling Junyi's erect penis didn't need his hands to caress it; it slipped smoothly against the open entrance, and with a slight downward thrust, it slowly slid in.

"Ah... um... Young Master... gently... gently... ah..." The narrow vagina tightly gripped his penis, and Ling Junyi felt as if his entire body was bound hand and foot, unable to move. Ling Junyi seemed to be struggling to push his penis in, while Xin Yi easily arched her back to cooperate. Now his penis reached its apex, and a wave of pleasure spread from Ling Junyi's back down to his body. "Hmph... ah..." He couldn't help but pant.

"Ah... it's reached... oh... Young Master... ah..." Xin Yi couldn't help but moan, arching her back and enjoying the pleasure from her vagina.

Ling Junyi began to slowly thrust in and out. "Xin Yi... um... so warm..." His penis felt like it was in a warm stove. Xin Yi trembled slightly, as if enveloped in pleasure, her hands gripping the sheets tightly beside her, her mouth uttering soft moans and gasps. Ling Junyi felt his vagina becoming increasingly lubricated, but the gripping pleasure remained undiminished, and his thrusts became faster and more forceful.

Xin Yi's reaction became even more frantic, she cried out almost hysterically, "Mmm... Young Master... harder... harder... ah..." Xin Yi's body swayed incessantly. Ling Junyi's thrusts became more forceful and faster, the sounds of skin slapping and vaginal fluids splashing echoing each other. Ling Junyi seemed to want to penetrate Xin Yi's body, thrusting deep and hard, causing Xin Yi to experience a simultaneous burst of orgasmic pleasure.

"Ah... Young... Master... I... ah..." Xin Yi's breathing was rapid like a speeding train, her hands gripping Ling Junyi's back tightly, her legs wrapped tightly around his waist, pressing her genitals together. Then, Xin Yi softly collapsed onto the bed, her long hair scattered messily on the bed, while her waist continued to arch slightly. The sudden contraction of her vagina sent a chill down Ling Junyi's spine. He thrust his hips forward, forcefully penetrating the tip of his penis deep into Xin Yi's body, a thick stream of semen shooting into the depths of her vagina…

After the climax, Ling Junyi gently caressed and kissed Xin Yi, tenderly asking, "Was it comfortable?"

Xin Yi nodded shyly, "It hurt a lot at first, and it still hurts a little now."

Ling Junyi comforted her, "

You'll be fine after a couple of days of rest." After a moment of silence, Xin Yi suddenly bit her lip and said, "Young Master, I have a question for you, please don't be angry, okay?"

Ling Junyi asked curiously, "Just ask me whatever you want, why would I be angry?"

Xin Yi stammered, "Young Master… yesterday… who…"

Ling Junyi was completely bewildered, "Who what? Who?"

Xin Yi stammered, "It's… yesterday… who… slept with Young Master…" Xin Yi was still somewhat timid, not daring to look at Ling Junyi.

Ling Junyi shuddered. Xin Yi cautiously said, "Young Master... don't be angry... this servant shouldn't have asked..." She thought Ling Junyi was angry.

Ling Junyi kissed her and said, "Xin Yi, you misunderstood. I'm not angry. I'm just curious how you knew?"

Xin Yi said shyly, "Although this servant was drugged and didn't know what happened yesterday, when I was making the bed this morning, I could tell that someone offered themselves to you last night."

Ling Junyi said, "You didn't tell anyone, did you?"

Xin Yi shook her head and said, "No, Young Master, don't worry, this servant knows what's what."

Ling Junyi then told Xin Yi the whole story. Only then did Xin Yi understand. She asked, "Young Master, why did you tell this servant everything? Don't you know..." "Are you afraid I'll tell others?"

Ling Junyi kissed her and said, "From now on, you're mine, so of course I need you to know what kind of person your husband is. Otherwise, wouldn't it be ridiculous for a wife not to know her husband's background?"

Xin Yi said incredulously, "Young master, what did you say? You mean you'll take me with you when you leave here?"

Ling Junyi asked strangely, "Do you think I would abandon you?"

Xin Yi's tears flowed involuntarily; they were tears of joy, tears of happiness. Ling Junyi knew how she felt. Xin Yi let her tears flow for a while before coming to her senses. She hugged Ling Junyi tightly and said, "Young Master, I'm so happy! I thought that just one act of kindness from you would be enough to comfort me for the rest of my life, because I know I'm not worthy to follow you..."

Ling Junyi said, "Silly girl, how can you be so unambitious? How could I look down on you? Don't say such silly things again, understand?"

Xin Yi nodded, "I'll remember."

Ling Junyi said, "From now on, when we're alone, don't call me 'Young Master' or 'Little Me,' it sounds awkward. Call me 'Brother' instead."

"Brother..." Xin Yi called out timidly.

"Yes, that's more like it, my good sister." Ling Junyi kissed her with satisfaction, and Xin Yi returned the kiss without hesitation.

Xin Yi leaned against Ling Junyi's chest and whispered, "Brother, I think the gang leader, the vice gang leader, and the steward all have their eyes on you. Especially the vice gang leader, who used to be so arrogant, but with you, he's like a completely different person, much more docile. You might want to consider it..."

Ling Junyi pinched her little nose: "What? You also want me to subdue them all?"

"Yes, has someone already said that to you, young master?" Xin Yi asked curiously.

"Wanmei said the same thing last night," Ling Junyi said.

"Then what do you think, young master?" Xin Yi asked.

"Everything depends on fate, just like us. When fate brings us together, things will naturally fall into place," Ling Junyi said.

"Then I wish you all the best, young master." Xin Yi paused, then asked shyly, "Young master, would you like me to stay with you a little longer?"

Ling Junyi couldn't bear to let her work too hard, so he shook his head and said, "You've just lost your virginity, don't overwork yourself. We'll have plenty of time later. It's getting late, let's rest."

"Mmm! Brother, you're so good." The two embraced and fell asleep sweetly.

"Ah..." The sunlight streaming in through the window startled Xin Yi awake, and she jumped up. Seeing that both she and Ling Junyi were naked, and then noticing the bloodstains on the bed, she blushed instantly. Looking out the window, her expression changed, and she turned to shake Ling Junyi awake: "Young Master, wake up! It's already dawn, the selection competition is about to begin."

Ling Junyi opened his eyes and saw that it was indeed late. With Xin Yi's help, he dressed and washed, ate a quick breakfast, and then the selection competition began.

Chapter Seventeen: The Selection Competition

It was early morning, the first rays of dawn! In the large courtyard in front of the main hall of the Hua Family Manor, a riot of color had gathered, and many people had gathered. It was no exaggeration to say that these people were a riot of color, dazzlingly beautiful. They were all flower maidens from the Hundred Flowers Gang, young and beautiful, dressed in light, narrow-waisted floral fabrics, with long swords tucked into their backs, their attire graceful and elegant. Each of them had a flower in their hair representing their name, truly like a hundred flowers blooming in competition, their fragrance filling the air. In any other place, a hundred girls like this would be a cacophony of chatter and laughter. But here, these hundred girls stood quietly on the right side of the steps, none daring to utter a sound. The reason was simple: today's grand gathering would be presided over by the Supreme Lord himself. In their hearts, the Supreme Lord was like a god, high above, unattainable. His presence was a solemn and dignified ceremony; who would dare whisper? Flowers can speak, but they don't necessarily have to. Therefore, though the flower maidens remained silent, they were still beautiful. With them standing on the steps, the vast stone-paved courtyard became a garden.

The courtyard of the Hua family estate truly deserved the title "vast"—it was a full hundred square meters, large enough to accommodate thousands of people practicing military drills. Surrounded by high white walls, it resembled a city wall! The hundred flower maidens, standing on the stone steps and beside the steps, occupied only a small corner. A dozen or so stone steps, smooth and wide. Above the main hall, a horizontal plaque with gold lettering on a vermilion background hangs high, bearing the three large characters "Hall of a Hundred Flowers," though everyone calls it the "Palace of a Hundred Flowers." It's never opened except for grand ceremonies. But today's selection meeting for accompanying personnel is clearly not being held in the main hall. Just looking at the stone steps at a high-backed, armchair with brocade drapes, one knows that must be the Elder's seat. On either side of the Elder's chair are two other brocade draped chairs, the seats of the leader and deputy leader. And below the left chair, there is yet another brocade draped chair. The flower maidens couldn't help but wonder whose seat this was. Besides the leader and deputy leader, the Chief Steward of the Hundred Flowers Gang, though holding a high position, doesn't have a seat before the Elder. Not to mention before the Elder, even at regular meetings presided over by the leader, the Chief Steward only has the right to stand. Just as everyone was harboring doubts, a group of people filed in through the two main doors!

This group, led by two elderly men in blue robes, followed by a group of thirty-two young men in silk robes, slowly walked to the left side of the steps and stood there. They were the thirty-six "Flower Protectors" of the Hundred Flowers Gang. Among the thirty-six, the two elderly men at the head were called the Left and Right Protectors, and were the leaders of the "Flower Protectors." In reality, there were only thirty-four "Flower Protectors," as two of them had been killed by Peony for "neglecting their duties" to establish authority, and replacements had not yet been made, leaving only thirty-two.

The appointed time was approaching! Three clear jade chimes rang out from the hall. The thirty-two Flower Protectors in the two rows on the left, and the flower girls in the four rows on the right, immediately fell silent, their expressions solemn. The vast courtyard was completely quiet. At this moment, accompanied by the head steward Yulan, a young man dressed in a sky-blue robe slowly entered through a round doorway in the left corridor. This young man appeared to be no more than twenty years old, with rosy lips and white teeth, and

eyes as bright as stars. In the morning light, he looked even more refined and elegant! The hundred flower maidens were all beautiful young women in the prime of their youth. Which girl doesn't yearn for love? Upon seeing this handsome young man, their eyes lit up, and a hundred pairs of bright, alluring gazes were directed at him. No, there were also the thirty-four "flower protectors" on the left, sixty-eight pairs of eyes also fixed on the handsome young man, but their gazes contained a mixture of surprise and jealousy.

The flower maidens had already heard that the gang had welcomed a distinguished guest, a handsome young man surnamed Ling, who was said to have neutralized the "poison." As a distinguished guest, the chair below the gang leader was naturally set up for him. The thirty-four "flower protectors" had no idea who this blue-clad youth was. They were all rising stars from various sects in the martial arts world, and they often traveled the martial arts world, but they had never seen or heard of such a youth before, so they couldn't help but be secretly surprised! What surprised them was that the head steward, Yulan, was very polite to this blue-clad youth, and had already invited him to sit down on the brocade chair on the left. Everyone knew that the "Supreme One," who founded the Hundred Flowers Gang, held an extremely prestigious position in the martial arts world. Even the two left and right protectors, who had been famous for many years and were considered first-rate figures in the martial arts world, could only stand on the steps. This young man, whose background was unknown, actually had a seat set up for him on the steps! After

the distinguished guest, Ling Junyi, sat down, the head steward, Yulan, stepped back to the right and stood still. Then, four yellow-clad maids, divided into two pairs, quickly walked out of the hall. The two in front each carried a pair of white jade ruyi scepters, while the two behind each carried a white jade and silver-threaded whisk and a seven-treasure inlaid ancient sword. The four women walked behind the folding chair and stood in a row. Seeing the four yellow-clad maids, everyone knew the Empress Dowager's carriage was about to emerge, and all held their breath, standing respectfully in anticipation. Ling Junyi, the "distinguished guest" seated on the left side of the steps, also stood up at the opportune moment. Three people had already appeared by the hall's entrance. In the middle was an elderly woman dressed in a black dress, wearing a satin turban and a black veil over her face—the Empress Dowager herself. To her left was the leader of the Hundred Flowers Gang, and to her right, the deputy leader, Peony, who was supporting her. The Hundred Flowers Gang leader was dressed in a pale yellow dress today, with a large pink and gold peony embroidered on her chest—truly a leader among beauties, the epitome of wealth and nobility! Peony wore a plum-red dress, with a golden peony embroidered on her chest; her slender waist was exquisitely beautiful. The two women accompanied the Empress Dowager, and only after she was seated in the central chair did they each take their seats on either side.

Two elderly men in blue robes, standing on the left side of the steps, led thirty-two "Flower Protectors" and bowed together, saying, "Your subordinates, Left Protector Leng Chaozong and Right Protector Cai Liang, along with all the Flower Protectors, pay their respects to Your Majesty." They then bowed in unison.

Next, one hundred flower maidens on the right side moved in unison, bowing and speaking in hushed tones, "Your disciples pay their respects to Your Majesty."

The Supreme One, seated on her chair, her two piercing eyes, shining through the black veil in the morning light, cold and sharp as lightning, slowly swept across the steps below. She nodded slightly in return, then raised her right hand and glanced at the Vice Leader, Peony, sitting to her right. The deputy leader, Peony, immediately stood up, her beautiful eyes sparkling, and said in a sweet voice, "The Supreme Master asked me to introduce a distinguished guest to everyone..." She drew out her words, raised her fair wrist, pointed to Ling Junyi, and continued, "This is Young Master Ling Junyi, a highly accomplished disciple of Master Butong of Shaolin."

Ling Junyi hurriedly stood up and bowed to the people below. A thunderous applause immediately erupted from below. Clearly, the applause was particularly enthusiastic from the hundred flower girls on the right, while the "flower protectors" on the left, fewer in number, only clapped sporadically. In particular, the two blue-robed elders at the head of the group looked at Ling Junyi with some disbelief. Butong was none other than the Reversed Hand Tathagata, and there had been no news of him in the martial arts world for thirty years. Could this young man be the successor of the Reversed Hand Tathagata?

As the applause subsided, Shaoyao and the others continued, "Young Master Ling is a talented and learned man. At our sect's request, he accomplished a great feat: he created the antidote for the 'poison,' ensuring it will no longer threaten us." Hearing this, everyone understood why Ling held a seat before the Elder, and they applauded again. After the applause subsided, Shaoyao continued, "Now, let everyone see the antidote for the 'poison.'" She then gestured to the head steward, Yulan.
Yulan bowed and accepted the order, then beckoned to the hall. Immediately, two flower maids carrying two small water bowls slowly walked to the steps and placed the bowls on the stone steps. One of the flower maids casually drew her long sword, lightly dipped the tip into the water bowl on the right, and immediately raised the sword. With that single touch, everyone could clearly see that the once gleaming sword tip now had a section about an inch long, as if coated with ink, dark and dull. It was obvious that the sword tip had been coated with a deadly poison, causing everyone to pale with shock! It should be known that coating ordinary weapons and concealed weapons with deadly poison is not a one-time process. Iron, unlike paper, cannot absorb moisture instantly; it takes a long time for the poison to be transferred to the blade or concealed weapon. The so-called "quenching" refers to the process of heating the weapon red-hot and then immersing it in water during the forging of swords. The same applies to quenching poison; the deadly poison is placed in water, and the weapon is heated red-hot repeatedly until the poison is applied.

But now, the longsword in the flower maiden's hand wasn't even red-hot; she had only lightly dipped it into the "poison," and the tip was already coated with it—how potent! The flower maiden raised the longsword and slowly demonstrated it to the people below. Another flower maiden had already brought a wooden board and placed it on the ground. The flower maiden's right hand slowly lowered her longsword, the tip resting on the board. She didn't exert any force, just touched the board with the tip, but immediately a soft "hiss" was heard upon contact. A wisp of yellow smoke rose, and the board looked as if it had been scorched, leaving a banana-shaped mark the size of a copper coin.

Ling Junyi was greatly surprised, thinking, "What kind of deadly poison is this 'poison'? It's so potent!" The flower maidens, seeing the sword tip touched by the "poison" and its potent toxicity, all paled instantly. The flower maiden calmly withdrew her longsword, then lightly dipped it into the water bowl to her left, and then raised the sword again. This time, everyone held their breath, staring intently at the tip of her sword. The tip, dipped in the antidote, had faded considerably when she raised it, gradually losing its gleam and sharpness as it faded further. A thunderous applause erupted. The two flower maidens bowed to the Elder, sheathed their swords, wooden planks, and two water bowls, and retreated.

The Elder, a pleased expression on his face, glanced around through the black veil and slowly said, “As you all have seen, although the ‘poison’ is poisonous, we now have an antidote. The Black Dragon Society, relying on its inexhaustible supply of ‘poison,’ will surely wreak havoc on the martial world and bring disaster to the country…” Ling Junyi's heart stirred: “The Black Dragon Society’s ‘poison,’ inexhaustible… judging from her tone, it seems to be naturally occurring. Could there really be such a potent poison in the world!”

Seeing everyone standing solemnly in silence, the Supreme Master continued, "I founded the Hundred Flowers Gang to uphold justice and rid the world of evil. Therefore, I have decided to lead you on a swearing-in ceremony soon to personally wipe out the Black Dragon Society and rid the martial arts world of a great scourge..." Another round of applause erupted from below. The

Supreme Master nodded and continued, "However, our numbers are too large, and our martial arts skills vary greatly. Such a large-scale expedition against the Black Dragon Society requires surprise and catching them off guard. Therefore, quality is more important than quantity, and speed is paramount. Thus, I have decided to select those who will accompany us." He then turned to Shaoyao and said, "Shaoyao, announce the selection method for me."

Shaoyao stood up, bowed, and replied, "Disciple obeys." Then, she took out a piece of white paper from her sleeve, glanced at it, and said loudly to the people below the steps: "From now on, our gang will appoint one Chief Protector, whose status is roughly equivalent to that of the Deputy Gang Leader. Under him will be one Left and one Right Protector, eight Protectors, and twenty-four Protectors. All of the above candidates will be selected from among the Protectors." The Left and Right Protectors and the thirty-two Protectors standing in front of the steps dared not whisper to each other because of the Supreme Leader, but each of them was secretly calculating what role they could play in this selection.

Peony continued: "Selection method: In the first round, the thirty-two Protectors will be divided into two teams of sixteen people each, one-on-one, to determine the winner by martial arts. Weapons, fists, and palms are all at your disposal. The competition will stop when the point is reached, and no intentional injury is allowed. The winner will be the first candidate." She paused here, then continued, "In the second round, the sixteen selected individuals will be divided into two teams. The competition will still be one-on-one, with the winners determined by a contest. The eight winners will be promoted to Protectors of the Gang. Those selected through a second round can then compete for Left and Right Protectors. The one with the highest martial arts skill will be chosen as the Chief Flower Protector." She then glanced at the right side of the steps and continued, "Besides the twelve attendants, the Gang's sisters can have twenty additional flower maidens selected by the Steward to accompany them. There's no need for another martial arts contest to decide their selection."

Yulan bowed and said, "Your subordinate obeys."

Shaoyao continued, "Alright, now the first round of the selection competition begins. Please have all the Flower Protectors divide into two teams." The thirty-two Flower Protectors, already standing in two rows, quickly formed two teams. Shaoyao added, "Now, Teams A and B, facing north and south respectively, will spread out and stand one-on-one opposite each other." The thirty-two guardians dispersed as instructed, standing in pairs.

Peony continued, "You may consult each other on whether to use fists, palms, or weapons. If you cannot agree on which, you may switch places." Her words caused a small commotion among the thirty-two guardians; many who used fists sought out other fist fighters, and those who used weapons sought out other weapons, exchanging opponents.

After they had found their partners, Peony continued, "This competition will involve sixteen pairs simultaneously. Therefore, sixteen witnesses are needed, one for each pair, to judge the outcome and ensure fairness. Now, I invite Young Master Ling, the Steward, the twelve attendants, and the left and right protectors to serve as witnesses. Please step forward." Ling

Junyi had no choice but to stand up and walk to the steps. Yulan and the two blue-robed elders who served as his left and right protectors stood before him. Then, the twelve attendants who stood before the hundred flower maidens—Plum Blossom, Lotus, Peach Blossom, Chrysanthemum, Jade Pear, Rose, Crape Myrtle, Hibiscus, Impatiens, Jade Stamen, Begonia, and Poppy—stepped forward one after another. Peony smiled brightly at Ling Junyi, her eyes sparkling, and then raised her hand, saying, "The competition is about to begin. Please come forward, each pair of witnesses, to judge the outcome." The sixteen witnesses, as instructed, each stood between a pair of "flower protectors."

Peony continued, "I solemnly announce once again that participants are forbidden from using hidden weapons during the competition. All actions must be limited to a single point, and the judges will ensure fairness. Except for accidental injury, no intentional harm is permitted." She then turned and bowed, saying, "May the competition begin, Your Majesty?" The Emperor

nodded, "Let them begin."

Peony bowed in acceptance, quickly turned around, and said in a sweet voice, "Your Majesty decrees the competition begins. Now, everyone prepare. Those using weapons, withdraw them, and await my command." As soon as she finished speaking, a clanging sound rang out before the steps. The thirty-two guardians, paired up, stood ready, almost all drawing their weapons.

Peony raised her voice and called out, "One, two, three..." At her command, sixteen pairs of guardians immediately drew their swords, exchanged a "please," and the thirty-two began their duel. A lively and fierce battle instantly unfolded in the large courtyard.

The pair of witnesses, both under twenty-seven or twenty-eight years old, both wielded longswords. One was handsome and slender, appearing rather refined, while the other was shorter but muscular and robust. Upon their exchange of blows, Ling Junyi immediately recognized their considerable skill. The slender man's swordsmanship and movements were quite peculiar; he lunged forward with a single, swift strike, his movements sweeping left and right, his stance resembling a horse riding a horse, yet not quite, his eyes gleaming like a wolf's. His longsword moved with a combination of pointing and slicing, aiming for the enemy's throat. His ruthless attacks clearly indicated he wasn't from a righteous sect. His opponent, the short, stocky man, however, shared a similar style—steady and powerful—using the "Six Harmonies Sword," each move expansive and powerful, demonstrating profound mastery. In the blink of an eye, the two had exchanged four or five blows.

The short, stocky man's swordplay was expansive, creating a fierce gust of wind. His attacks were almost relentless, each strike powerful and aggressive. The tall, thin man was agile, darting about, but the short, stocky man dodged left and right, his long sword flashing through the air, striking from the sides. When he didn't strike, every thrust was insidious and vicious, impossible to defend against, often forcing the short, stocky man to parry and dodge in a flurry! Ling Junyi watched for a while, noticing that the tall, thin man always dragged one leg as he leaped, his gaze darting sideways. He suddenly realized, and exclaimed inwardly, "The Heavenly Wolf Sword!" He had heard his master say that about thirty years ago, his master had encountered a strange man in the northern frontier called the Old Wolf God. This man, imitating the form of a wolf, created his own "Heavenly Wolf Sword Technique," which became arrogant and claimed to be invincible. However, his master had given him a good thrashing.

Master once said that the Old Wolf God's unique "Heavenly Wolf Sword Technique" was not only ruthless in its swordplay, but also as cunning as a wolf, employing feints and exploiting openings to attack. In the future, when traveling the martial world, one must be especially wary of anyone who, when drawing their sword, has a wolf-like gaze and darts left and right. This person's swordsmanship clearly uses the "Heavenly Wolf Sword"—could he be a successor of the Old Wolf God?

Just then, his eyes flashed, and he immediately pointed with his left hand, flicking a wisp of wind from his middle finger, while simultaneously shouting, "Please stop, you two!" As soon as the shout left his mouth, a soft "clang" was heard, and the longsword in the slender man's hand vibrated slightly.

However, since the two men had heard the notary shout "Stop!" and had already sheathed their swords and leaped away, the slight vibration of the slender man's sword was naturally invisible to onlookers. The short, stocky man's attack was fierce, and he was about to succeed when he suddenly heard the notary raise his hand to stop him. Feeling puzzled, he looked up at Ling Junyi. Ling Junyi smiled slightly at him and said, "Brother, you've lost."

The short, stocky man was greatly surprised and asked in surprise, "Could it be that I've lost?" He thought he was about to succeed and naturally refused to believe it.

Ling Junyi secretly sighed, "The Heavenly Wolf Sword Technique is indeed extremely ruthless. If I hadn't flicked my finger, deflecting the sword tip several inches, you would probably be lying on the ground by now." He smiled and said, "That's right, brother, you've lost." The

short, stocky man angrily asked, "In which move did I lose?"

Ling Junyi pointed to his right waist and said directly, "Brother, just look at your waist." The short, stocky man looked down and saw that his clothes had been torn by the sword, a strip about an inch long. He blushed deeply and retreated with clasped hands.

The tall, thin man had already sheathed his longsword, and with a graceful bow, he

greeted Ling Junyi with a smile, saying, "Brother Gongsun Xiang, I hope Young Master Ling will give me your guidance in the future." Ling Junyi hurriedly returned

the bow, saying, "You're too kind, brother." Gongsun Xiang turned and withdrew. Then, Shaoyao's sweet voice called out, "Young Master Ling, please return to your seat." Ling Junyi bowed slightly and returned to his seat.

By this time, about a third of the sixteen pairs of competitors had stopped. The rest had entered the decisive stage. The fighting was fierce, with flashing swords and clashing blades. This competition was not only about each person fighting for their own reputation, but also about securing their future position within the Hundred Flowers Gang. In this world, who doesn't strive for fame and fortune? Besides, they were originally江湖人 (jianghu people), their martial arts skills honed for the purpose of gaining fame and profit. In this vast and chaotic world, how many people truly understand the purpose of martial arts training—to uphold justice and eliminate evil?

Ling Junyi could naturally see that almost every one of these people was quite skilled. Peony hadn't lied to him; the protectors of the Hundred Flowers Gang were actually all disciples of various major martial arts sects! He could discern from their martial arts styles the styles of renowned sects like Shaolin, Wudang, Hengshan, Huashan, and Emei, as well as those considered unorthodox or heterodox schools like Kongtong, Minglai, and Xueshan. In short, these thirty-two protectors were a collection of talents from both righteous and evil factions of the martial arts world! This truly baffled Ling Junyi. These people should all be young men who had recently graduated from their respective schools; why had they joined the Hundred Flowers Gang? And how had the Hundred Flowers Gang managed to recruit so many young masters? Suddenly, he understood. They, like himself, had all been unwittingly given "sleeping pills" in their food. Only those who had taken the "sleeping pills" appeared to remain clear-headed and possessed undiminished martial arts skills, but they were utterly loyal to the Hundred Flowers Gang for life, with no room for disloyalty.

After a short while, all the contestants had stopped. The preliminary round of thirty-two had concluded, and the witnesses had all withdrawn. Peony stood on the steps, directing the sixteen defeated guardians to return to their original positions. Then, she instructed the sixteen victorious guardians to stand in the center, facing the Supreme Being. Without waiting for Peony's prompting, they bowed respectfully. The Supreme Being nodded and said, "Very good, continue your efforts."

Peony then announced, "Now the second round begins. Please, the sixteen victorious guardians of the preliminary round, enter the arena. As in the preliminary round, divide into two teams, standing opposite each other in pairs, awaiting my command." The sixteen quickly divided into two teams, walked to the center of the courtyard, and stood opposite each other in pairs.

Peony turned to the right and said, "We still need eight witnesses. I'd like to ask eight attendants to serve as witnesses. Eight of you, please step forward." Immediately, eight people—Plum Blossom, Lotus, Peach Blossom, Chrysanthemum, Jade Pear, Rose, Crape Myrtle, and Hibiscus—stepped forward and entered the arena.

Peony called out in a sweet voice, "Alright, everyone, get ready! One, two, three..." In this round, eight out of the sixteen would be eliminated. Those eliminated would remain as protectors, while the eight winners would be promoted to guardians. This battle was crucial to everyone's future, naturally more intense than the preliminary round. At Peony's command, the sixteen immediately raised their swords and began to fight. The swords flashed like lightning, the blades gleamed like snow, and the figures leaped and tumbled, each displaying their unique skills. The eight witnesses each closely followed a pair of fighters, moving forward and backward, their eyes never blinking, not daring to relax for a moment, weaving through the swordplay and the shadows of the warriors. Like eight butterflies flitting among flowers, they were quite a sight. Ling Junyi, sitting on the steps, could see them clearly. He observed them carefully one by one and noticed that among the eight pairs of fighters, four had particularly outstanding martial arts skills.

Counting from the left, the first pair consisted of Gongsun Xiang, who used the "Heavenly Wolf Sword Technique." He moved like a wolf, seemingly pouncing, yet each strike was timed perfectly, attacking from the side, making him impossible to defend against. His opponent was a Wudang disciple, using the "Two Elements Sword Technique," constantly drawing circles, mostly on the defensive. The second pair was the Emei disciple, wielding the "Chaotic Cloak Sword Technique," moving freely and seemingly randomly, but in reality, the entire sword technique was complex and unpredictable. His opponent used the "Eight Trigrams Sword Technique," naturally a disciple of the Eight Trigrams Sect, but merely guarding the eight gates was no longer enough to cope with the sword attacks coming from all directions. The third and fourth pair of young men wielding the "Hengshan Swordplay" frequently leaped into the air, their swords soaring through the sky like rainbows, demonstrating their mastery of the technique. Their opponents, fighting from the ground, were clearly at a disadvantage. The fourth and sixth pair used folding fans with agility and grace. Their opponents wielded nine-ringed sabers, powerful and fierce, their blades flashing. Yet, the fan-wielder, amidst the mountain of blade shadows and the relentless onslaught, lightly waved his fan, seemingly dodging but actually counterattacking. His movements were incredibly skillful. Ling Junyi could see that this man not only possessed remarkable agility but also exceptional internal strength. Just by observing how his iron-boned fan, each time it came into contact with the nine-ringed saber, simply flicked it away, deflecting the saber's blade.

Of course, the other four pairs of fighters also possessed extraordinary martial arts skills; otherwise, they wouldn't have been recruited by the Hundred Flowers Gang. However, compared to these four, their skills were slightly inferior. Therefore, Ling Junyi's gaze was focused solely on the actions of these four. He could already predict that among the sixteen victorious protectors in the preliminary round, these four would definitely stand out. His prediction proved correct! Just then, Gongsun Xiang, wielding the "Heavenly Wolf Sword Technique," suddenly moved to the right side of his opponent, a Wudang disciple, forcing him to hastily reverse his swing, creating a circle of sword light. But Gongsun Xiang's sword had already pierced his ribs as he reversed his swing! The witness, Plum Blossom, hurriedly shouted, "Stop!" But it was too late. Gongsun Xiang's "Heavenly Wolf Sword Technique" was inherently ruthless and vicious; once the sword was used, it was uncontrollable.

The Wudang disciple groaned, staggered backward, and a trickle of blood seeped from his ribs. Gongsun Xiang looked apologetic and bowed, saying, "Brother Xu, please forgive my mistake."

Yulan beckoned to the two flower maids standing nearby, who immediately rushed over, helped the Wudang disciple, and applied medicine to his wound. At this moment, the sixth pair had also reached the decisive moment. The man wielding the nine-ringed saber, seeing that the battle was proving fruitless, shouted loudly, changed his saber technique, and launched a full-scale attack. His saber skills were originally extremely profound, and this rapid attack was not only swift but also steady. For a moment, the saber light shone brightly, slashing, thrusting, parrying, and cutting, each aimed at vital points. This saber technique was indeed unstoppable! The man wielding the iron-boned folding fan followed with a cold laugh, waving his fan, his blue robes fluttering. Instead of retreating, he advanced, charging into the mountain of saber shadows. His figure spun swiftly, like a butterfly flitting among flowers, flashing through the gaps in the saber light. No matter how fast the nine-ringed saber was, it could never touch a single hem of his clothing.

The man with the folding fan opened and closed rapidly, unleashing a series of unexpected moves. The knife-wielding man, unable to parry in time, was struck on the "Jianjing" acupoint with a "snap," his right arm instantly going numb. His nine-ringed sword clattered to the ground, and he staggered backward. The fan-wielding man's attack was so swift that even the witness, Rose, standing nearby, didn't have time to shout "Stop!" The fan-wielding man had already closed his fan, smiling and bowing, saying, "Thank you for your concession." His blue robes fluttered as he retreated.

The knife-wielding man, his face ashen, glared fiercely at him, then, without a word, raised his nine-ringed sword and retreated to the left side of the steps. Ling Junyi thought to himself, "Who is this fan-wielding man?"

Just then, the third pair of witnesses, Peach Blossom, shouted, "Stop!" Everyone looked up and saw their opponent, who had used the "Hengshan Sword Technique," with his hair cut off by the sword, retreating in shame. The Hengshan disciple sheathed his sword, bowed, and retreated. Then, the second witness, Lianhua, also called for a halt! This pair consisted of an Emei disciple wielding the "Chaotic Cloak Sword Technique" and a Bagua disciple using the "Eight Trigrams Sword Technique," a evenly matched contest. The "Eight Trigrams Sword Technique" was originally known for its defensive prowess, its sword moving through all eight gates, seemingly comprehensive. However, its opponent was an Emei disciple. The Emei "Chaotic Cloak Sword Technique" was like a dragon and fish, its movements chaotic and unpredictable. To outsiders, the sword seemed to have no fixed moves, no direction, making it extremely difficult to anticipate. After more than thirty rounds, the Bagua disciple, though adhering strictly to the eight gates, was finding it increasingly difficult to adapt to the wind-like, rain-like, chaotic sword tips that came from all directions! When the witness, Lianhua, shouted "Stop!", three wounds on his shoulder and sleeves had already been pierced by the opponent's sword. The two bowed to each other and retreated together. At the same time, the third and eighth pairs also concluded their battles, with the witness shouting "Stop!". At this point, only the fifth and seventh pairs remained on the field. Both sides were evenly matched and were still fiercely fighting. All eyes in the arena were now focused on these four. The

two members of the fifth pair were using external weapons. One wielded a pair of twin rings, the outer rings covered with barbs. When unleashed, the twin rings whipped through the air, and the hooks flashed with a bluish light. The other wielded a pair of short halberds, their surfaces glowing blue, clearly coated with potent poison! Most strangely, he held the halberds in the middle of the hilts with both hands, concealing them behind his elbows. He would sometimes use the halberd hilts as a pair of short pikes, and sometimes flip his wrists to reveal the halberds. His moves were extremely bizarre. Ling Junyi only realized at this moment that his moves were strange and vicious, almost as so as the "Heavenly Wolf Sword."

The seventh pair did not use weapons, but fought hand-to-hand. One used both fists and fingers, especially his left hand, whose fingers were like halberds, striking vital acupoints. The other used the "Eight Elephant Palms," a combination of hardness and softness, with unique power in its opening and closing movements. The whistling sound of their fists and palms cutting through the air was no less fierce than that of swords, and every move was fraught with killing intent. If an opponent was touched even slightly, they would be in immediate danger of death. The witness, Zi Bi, stood on the side, looking very nervous. The two pairs of martial arts were evenly matched, so while the previous six pairs had each had their victories and defeats, these two pairs were still fighting fiercely and remained deadlocked. Just then, the wielder of the twin rings shouted, his left ring hooking into the opponent's halberd handle, while his right ring, carrying a swift gust of wind, brought down a powerful "Mount Tai Pressing Down" strike. The halberd wielder sneered, his body lowering and spinning to avoid the downward blow, instantly closing in on the ring wielder's side, his left halberd handle sliding out of the hook. A flash of blue light, and he struck at the opponent's chest. The ring wielder, already wary of the poisoned halberd, hastily dodged. However, he hadn't anticipated that as the left halberd struck, the right foot would simultaneously sweep out. By the time he realized what was happening and tried to dodge, it was too late! With a loud "bang," a man was kicked more than a foot away, crashing to the ground. His martial arts were not weak after all; the fallen man leaped up, both rings raised, ready to pounce on the halberd wielder! Witness Yu Li called out sweetly, "Stop!" The

man wielding the double rings had no choice but to halt, saying, "Our fight is not over yet, why are you calling for a stop, young lady?"

Yu Li replied, "You were swept away by him, so naturally you lost."

The man wielding the double rings said, "Young lady, that's unfair. We're competing with weapons. Although I was knocked down, I haven't lost in terms of technique. How can you say I've lost?"

The man wielding the double halberds laughed, "Brother He, if you're not satisfied, we might as well have another match."

The man wielding the double rings said, "That's right, we're not going to fight to the death, so..." "Don't give up!"

Yu Li raised her eyebrows and shouted, "He Xiangsheng, you were swept down by a kick when you made your move, and you still won't admit defeat?"

The man with the double rings had bloodshot eyes and said coldly, "Miss, you are a servant, and I am a messenger. We are equal in rank, and you are not worthy to address me by my name. The deputy leader just announced the selection method: weapons must be used to fight until the point is reached. I would like to ask you, Miss, where did Ye Kaixian's double rings touch me?" He actually refused to accept the witness's judgment and argued with Yu Li.

Peony shouted at the right moment, "He Xiangsheng, step back." This time, the man with the double rings dared not say anything more and retreated dejectedly.

Now only one pair of unarmed fighters remained in the arena. Seeing that the other six pairs had all decided their victories, while they were still fighting endlessly, they couldn't help but rouse their spirits and launch a full-scale attack. The man with his fists and fingers outstretched suddenly unleashed a deadly technique, lunging forward with his upper body. As he lunged, his right fist formed a hand seal, and his left hand rose, his middle finger turning a blood-red hue. With a low whistle, the finger strike, swift as lightning, aimed directly at his opponent's throat. Ling Junyi, witnessing the dripping blood from the middle finger, had a sudden realization: "This man doesn't practice the Yan School's 'Vermilion Finger,' it's the unorthodox 'Blood Shadow Finger'!" This all happened in the blink of an eye!

The man wielding the "Eight Elephant Palms," while fighting him, had suddenly noticed the chilling killing intent in his opponent's eyes and had become alert! Now, suddenly seeing the crimson finger shadow approaching, even before the finger's force arrived, a faint smell of blood filled his nostrils! A chill ran through him; he thought, "I had no intention of killing you, yet you attacked me first." In a flash, he dodged several feet to the side, his right hand flashing out in a sudden counterattack. His palm strike, too, was driven by murderous intent, unleashed with overwhelming force. A powerful, sweeping palm wind, several feet in diameter, howled in the air, sweeping across like a tidal wave. Most dangerously, his palm wind carried a bone-chilling cold, invisible to the naked eye. The man wielding the "Blood Shadow Finger" missed his target. Seeing the opponent's palm strike coming with such ferocity and ferocity, he dared not meet it head-on, hastily dodging several steps to avoid the attack. He managed to avoid the palm wind, but just as he dodged, his body suddenly trembled, a chill running down his spine, and he involuntarily took a step back.

The man wielding the palm, having just caught a faint whiff of blood, was still uneasy and immediately circulated his internal energy, secretly regulating his true qi. The witness, Ziwei, didn't call for a stop, yet the two men stopped fighting on their own! Everyone present was a martial arts expert, but no one could discern the reason for their sudden cessation! Just moments before, everyone had only seen the man wielding the finger strike unleash a blindingly bright red "Blood Shadow Finger," and now they saw the man wielding the palm strike with his eyes slightly closed, circulating his internal energy. They assumed he was already injured by the finger strike! Even the witness, Ziwei, had the same thought. She hesitated slightly, about to announce the victory of the man wielding the finger strike, but thankfully, she hesitated. Before she could announce it, the man wielding the finger strike suddenly leaned back and collapsed with a "thud!"

This startled Ziwei greatly; she was speechless. As the witness, she no longer knew the outcome of the fight. Not only her, but even the deputy leader, Shaoyao, who was standing on the steps giving orders, was astonished and unable to speak. After the man wielding the finger strike collapsed, he seemed to have fainted, and after a long while, he remained motionless! No, his face was originally pale gold, but after a while, it gradually turned purplish-black! After a period of recuperation, the man in charge of the palm slowly opened his eyes, glanced at his colleague who was lying stiffly on the ground, and couldn't help but show a hint of arrogance and pride on his face!

Then, the Supreme Lord, who was sitting on the steps, called out in a deep voice: "Qin Deguang".

Upon hearing the Supreme Elder's call, the man with the palm hurriedly stepped forward and bowed, saying, "Your subordinate is here."

The Supreme Elder said, "I have already instructed the Vice Chief to announce to everyone that in the competition, only a point is allowed, and no one is allowed to injure anyone. How could you use a killer move and seriously injure him?"

Qin Deguang bowed repeatedly and said, "Supreme Elder, please understand. When I fought him, I strictly followed the competition rules and never dared to use a killer move. He used the 'Blood Shadow Finger' first, so I had no choice but to retaliate. But once I used my 'Cold Silk Palm,' I couldn't control myself."

"Cold Silk Palm!" Everyone had never even heard of it. Ling Junyi was secretly surprised, thinking, "I wonder what kind of skill 'Cold Silk Palm' is? How come I haven't heard my master mention it?"

The Supreme Elder snorted and said, "Killing is not allowed in this selection competition today. Hurry up and give him the antidote!" "Cold Silk Palm" has an antidote!

Qin Deguang agreed, "Your subordinate obeys." He bowed and withdrew, walking to the man wielding the "Blood Shadow Finger." He reached into his robes, pulled out a brocade box, took out a vermilion pill, and placed it into the man's mouth.

The "Frosty Silk Palm," as its name suggests, inherently contains extremely yin and cold energy within its palm strikes. No wonder the person struck by it was stiff, their face frozen a purplish-black. After administering the antidote, in less than the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the purplish-black color on the man's face vanished. He let out a long sigh and suddenly opened his eyes! He immediately saw Qin Deguang, roared, leaped up, and with a flick of his wrist, pointed a finger at Qin Deguang's chest—his heart—like lightning! Qin Deguang was prepared and easily dodged the attack. Ziwei hurriedly shouted, "Stop! The outcome is decided. No one is allowed to fight anymore!"

Shaoyao also shouted at the right moment, "Ran Yuchun, step back." The man who had been pointing fingers dared not disobey the deputy leader's shout and could only bow and step back.

The second selection competition was now over. The eight protectors had also been selected after two rounds of elimination. Deputy leader Shaoyao stood on the steps and announced in a sweet voice, "The results of the second competition are as follows: Gongsun Xiang (using the 'Heavenly Wolf Sword Technique'), Ding Qiao (using the Iron Bone Fragment Fan), Zhang Nanqiang (using the Hengshan Sword Technique), Song Desheng (using the Chaotic Cloak Sword Technique), Luo Gengyun (using the Wu Hook Sword), Du Qianlin (using a pair of judge's pens), Shi Kaixian (using double halberds), and Qin Deguang (using the Cold Silk Palm) are the winners and should be promoted to protectors of this gang." A burst of enthusiastic applause erupted in the hall, with Hundred Flowers Gang Leader Peony and VIP Ling Junyi joining in the celebration.

Peony then announced, "Now, please, the eight newly appointed Protectors, step forward to receive the Protector Gold Medals personally bestowed by the Supreme Emperor." The eight new Protectors, led by Gongsun Xiang, immediately stepped forward to the stone steps and stood in a line. The head steward, Yulan, beckoned into the hall, and a maid in green robes gracefully emerged, carrying a jade tray, which she presented to Yulan. The tray was covered with yellow paper, naturally containing eight "Protector Gold Medals." Yulan accepted the tray with a respectful expression and walked to the center, where the Supreme Emperor also rose to his feet.

Peony called out, "Gongsun Xiang." Gongsun Xiang hurriedly ascended the stone steps and bowed to the Supreme Emperor. The Supreme Emperor took a gold medal from the jade tray and handed it to Gongsun Xiang. Gongsun Xiang accepted it with both hands, bowed again, and returned to his original position. Then, the peony disciples called out their names in turn, and the remaining seven newly appointed Dharma protectors were also awarded gold medals by the Supreme Lord in turn, and everyone applauded again.

The Supreme Elder's gaze slowly swept over the eight people, and she said approvingly, "I just witnessed your two matches, each displaying your skills. Your ability to stand out from the thirty-two is no fluke. The martial world is unlike the officialdom, where one can rise through the ranks by connections and favoritism, even without real talent. In the martial world, however, one must rely on genuine ability and withstand the storms of life. It's a place where one's life is at stake; a single misstep can cost you your life. Therefore, there are no undeserved fame or lucky successes. What I mean is: your promotion from Protector to Guardian was not achieved through any trickery or opportunism; your victory was honorable and aboveboard—a competition of gentlemen. The position of Guardian is a very high honor, and I hope that you will all dedicate yourselves wholeheartedly to protecting the sect and creating even greater glory for it." At this point, everyone erupted in thunderous applause that lasted for a long time.

The eight newly appointed protectors said in unison, "We are deeply grateful for the Supreme Lord's grace and swear to serve our gang with utmost sincerity, even unto death." They were met with another round of applause. The Supreme Lord

nodded in approval, then said kindly, "Very good. Now, greet the Gang Leader."

The eight new protectors bowed to the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader, saying, "We greet the Gang Leader." The Hundred

Flowers Gang Leader had already stood up, returned the bow, and said sweetly, "Congratulations on your promotion to protectors! I am deeply honored for our gang." Another round of applause followed. Amidst the applause, the Supreme Lord returned to his chair and sat down. The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader waited until the Supreme Lord was seated before following suit.

At this moment, the Supreme Elder slowly turned to the side, her gaze falling on Ling Junyi through the black veil. She slowly said, "Master Ling."

Ling Junyi's heart skipped a beat, and he thought to himself, "He's here!" He hurriedly bowed and said, "What brings you here

, Supreme Elder?" The Supreme Elder said kindly, "I mentioned to you yesterday that I wish to appoint Master Ling as a protector of our gang. I wonder if Master Ling has considered it?" The eight newly appointed protectors were secretly pleased, thinking, "This 'distinguished guest' sitting below the gang leader, we thought he was something special, but it turns out he's just a protector of our gang."

As soon as the Supreme Elder finished speaking, Ling Junyi heard a very faint voice beside him, saying, "Young Master Ling, quickly agree!" It was the voice of the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader, which Ling Junyi naturally recognized!

In fact, even without Mudan's concern, he had already stood up, his expression extremely respectful. He bowed to the Supreme Elder and said, "This subordinate is honored by the Supreme Elder's favor, how dare I disobey?" "This is the effect of the 'Bewitching Pill' on him!"

As he stood up, Peony gazed at him with tender affection, still somewhat uneasy. But upon hearing him refer to himself as "your subordinate" and readily agree, a relieved smile unconsciously appeared in her beautiful eyes! The Supreme Elder, behind her black veil, also smiled smugly, nodding and saying, "Very good. I know that it is an injustice for Lord Ling to accept a position as a protector of our gang..." She deliberately dragged out her words.

Ling Junyi, about to sit down, immediately looked terrified upon hearing the Supreme Elder's words, repeatedly bowing and saying, "This subordinate is a novice in the martial world. The Supreme Elder's kindness is truly beyond measure; I would give my life for it, but it would be insufficient to repay even a fraction of the Supreme Elder's favor." These were words he would never have said yesterday, but now he was under the influence of the "Bewitching Pill." The effect of the "Bewitching Pill" was to make one loyal and devoted to the Hundred Flowers Gang and the Supreme Elder, with no room for disloyalty.

The Supreme Elder nodded again, indicating his approval, and continued, "However, the Protectors of this sect are guest elders, and their status is not low. In particular, the Chief Flower Protector and the Left and Right Protectors are all selected from among the Protectors. Every Protector has the opportunity to become the Chief Flower Protector or the Left and Right Protectors. I have always advocated appointing people based on their talents and fair competition. What position you can hold depends on your own true abilities." This was an implication to Ling Junyi: I can only send one person; if you have the ability, you can leap to become the Chief Flower Protector. At the same time, it was also a clear indication to the eight new Protectors that everyone could compete fairly for the three positions of Chief Flower Protector, Left and Right Protector. In short, as long as you have the ability, you can succeed. As soon as the Supreme Elder finished speaking, Yulan came over with a jade tray to serve. The Supreme Elder reached out and took a gold medal from the jade tray, and slowly said, "Lord Ling, please come and accept this Protector's Gold Medal." Ling Junyi quickly stepped forward, bowed, and accepted the gold medal with both hands.

The Grand Master slightly raised her hand and said, "Please return to your seat, Mr. Ling." She seemed to be giving this "protector" special treatment; you didn't see the other eight protectors, who were only allowed to stand with their hands at their sides before the steps!

Ling Junyi dared not lose his dignity, and bowed

, saying, "Since I have pledged allegiance to this gang and assumed the position of protector, I dare not take a seat..." Before he could finish speaking, the Grand Master waved her hand slightly and smiled kindly, saying, "You are attending today's selection conference as a guest. Even though you have accepted the position of protector of this gang, you are still a guest of this conference. Please, take a seat."

Ling Junyi dared not say anything more and could only bow and say, "Your subordinate obeys."

Just as he was about to leave, Peony smiled and said, "Young Master Ling, it is a great honor to be added as a protector of this gang."

Ling Junyi hurriedly returned the greeting, saying, "Vice Gang Leader, you flatter me."

He turned and retreated to the left, where the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader also stood up gracefully and smiled, saying, "Congratulations, Young Master Ling."

Ling Junyi dared not meet her gaze, and cupped his hands, saying, "I will need the Chief's instructions at any time."

The Hundred Flowers Chief raised his hand and said, "Young Master Ling, please sit.

" Ling Junyi bowed slightly and said, "This subordinate truly does not deserve such treatment..." He still sat down. The Chief and Deputy Chief treated a mere Protector with such warmth, making the eight newly appointed Protectors below extremely envious!

Peony stepped forward and said sweetly to the two blue-robed elders on the left side of the steps, "Left Protector Leng, Right Protector Cai, today's selection meeting is personally attended by the Supreme Elder, mainly to select the Chief Flower Protector. Therefore, the positions of Left and Right Protectors must also be re-selected. Before the selection, you two must, as is customary, return your Left and Right Protector Gold Tokens."

Left Protector Leng Chaozong bowed and said, "The Deputy Chief is absolutely right." He reached into his robes, took out his Left Protector Gold Token, and presented it with both hands. Right Protector Cai Liang also took out his Right Protector Gold Token and handed it over.

Peony put away the gold medal and continued, "As I just announced, all the protectors of this gang are eligible to run for the positions of Left Protector, Right Protector, and Chief Protector. Anyone interested in running for Chief Protector can register voluntarily. Registration is not limited to the individual; anyone present can nominate on their behalf." She paused slightly, brushed her hair aside, and continued, "Those nominated or registered for the election must accept challenges from other protectors. The one with the highest martial arts skill after a series of victories becomes the Chief Protector, followed by the Left and Right Protectors. However, if a candidate is defeated by a challenger, they lose their eligibility to run for Chief Protector, and the winner of the challenge takes their place, continuing to accept challenges until no one challenges them anymore. But those who lose can still participate in the election for Left Protector..." "The method for the Right Protector is the same as that for the Chief Protector," Ling Junyi thought to himself. "Judging from the method she announced, to become the Chief Protector, one must accept ten challenges and win all ten consecutively."

After finishing her announcement, Shaoyao glanced at the steps and continued, "Alright, everyone understands the selection method. If no one has any objections, we will now begin accepting registrations. Those who wish to run for Chief Protector may register with me." As

soon as she finished speaking, Left Protector Leng Chaozong raised his hand first and said, "This subordinate, Leng Chaozong, registers to participate."

Shaoyao nodded and said, "Good."

Right Protector Cai Liang also raised his hand and said, "This subordinate, Cai Liang, also registers to participate." Shaoyao also nodded and said, "Good."

Leng Chaozong's gaze was sinister, and he sneered, "Old Cai, you're deliberately going against your brother."

Cai Liang had a scar between his eyebrows, hence his nickname "Three-Eyed." Hearing Leng Chaozong's words, the scar between his eyebrows turned faintly red, and he snorted, "Brother Leng, that's not right. We returned the left and right protector gold tokens to participate in the election. Brother Leng can register, and so can I. This is a fair competition based on ability. What's this about one person opposing the other?"

Shaoyao stood on the steps and coldly shouted, "You've already registered, so you should be quiet. Making such a racket in front of the Supreme Leader, what kind of decorum is this?" Her words were very harsh. Although Leng Chaozong and Cai Liang usually thought highly of themselves, they didn't dare to be presumptuous in front of this deputy leader and silently retreated.

Shaoyao then asked, "Who else has registered?" The eight newly appointed protectors in front of the steps remained silent. This was their cleverness; they knew that every protector, even if they didn't voluntarily sign up for the election of the Chief Flower Protector, could still challenge the candidates. Winning a challenge was tantamount to becoming a candidate, wasn't it? And for now, observing the situation was a good opportunity to gauge the situation.

Peony waited for a while, but still no one signed up. Her pretty eyes turned to the left, glancing sideways at Ling Junyi, and she asked sweetly, "Where is Young Master Ling?"

Ling Junyi hurriedly cupped his hands, saying, "This subordinate's skills are meager; how dare I have such aspirations?"

The Hundred Flowers Gang Leader smiled slightly, saying, "Young Master Ling is too modest. This is a fair election; anyone can participate. Since Young Master Ling is unwilling to sign up voluntarily, then I will nominate him."

Ling Junyi repeatedly bowed, saying, "This subordinate dares not." The hundred flower maidens standing before the right-hand steps, hearing their leader nominate Ling Junyi, couldn't help but applaud. In the Kingdom of Women, being handsome and young always has its advantages. The "Left Protector," Nine-Fingered Judge Leng Chaozong, and the "Right Protector," Three-Eyed Cai Liang, already harbored resentment upon hearing their leader nominate Ling Junyi. Now, hearing the flower girls applaud for him, they exchanged a glance, cold smiles creeping onto their faces.

Peony, her gaze sweeping across the room, asked, "Who else has nominated someone?" No one spoke before the steps, so naturally, no one nominated anyone. After a long pause, Peony announced, "Alright, registration is closed. There are three candidates for the position of Chief Flower Protector: Leng Chaozong, Cai Liang, and Ling Junyi." The flower girls applauded again.

Peony continued, "It is now noon. The assembly will take a break. Food and wine have been prepared in the hall; everyone may go in and dine." The Supreme One stood up first, accompanied by the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader, Peony, and the Vice-Gang Leader, Peony, entering the hall, followed by four girls in yellow.

The head steward, Yulan, gestured to Ling Junyi and said, "Young Master Ling, please."

Ling Junyi replied, "Please go first, Head Steward. I am currently a candidate, so I should accompany Leng and Cai."

Yulan nodded and said, "Young Master is right. Then this humble servant will take her leave first." She then hurriedly followed him inside.

The Left Protector, Leng Chaozong, had a deep gaze and gave Ling Junyi a cold laugh, saying, "Young Master Ling, please!" He strode ahead and walked inside. The Right Protector, Cai Liang, naturally wouldn't let him have his way and followed Leng Chaozong inside. Ling Junyi could see that the two men were very hostile towards him, but he didn't care. He smiled nonchalantly and followed behind them.

In the main hall, the seat in the center was occupied by the Supreme Leader, the Hundred Flowers Gang Leader, and the Deputy Gang Leader. To the upper left were the three candidates for Chief Flower Protector, followed by eight protectors and twenty-four Flower Protectors. The head seat on the upper right was for the head steward and twelve attendants, followed by ten seats for the courtesans. Wine was served, but no one dared to drink too much; firstly, the Grand Master was seated there, and secondly, there was a fierce competition scheduled for the afternoon. No one wanted to get drunk and miss the opportunity. The meal was eaten rather hastily. Afterwards, the leader and deputy leader attended to the Grand Master and led him to a lavishly decorated side room on the left side of the main hall to rest. The protectors and flower attendants also dispersed. Ling Junyi, unfamiliar with everyone, stood alone on the veranda with his hands behind his back.

A soft voice called out from behind, "Young Master Ling."

Without turning around, Ling Junyi recognized Yulan's voice and smiled, "Thank you for your hard work, Steward."

Yulan smiled charmingly, "There were many things to do at today's conference, but they did all the work; I merely offered my assistance." Her eyes darted left and right, then she lowered her voice and said, "This afternoon is the competition for the Chief Flower Protector. I sense that Leng Chaozong and Cai Liang are extremely hostile towards you; you must be careful."

Ling Junyi nodded, "Thank you, Steward." "I can see that you're looking after me."

Yu Lan's phoenix eyes narrowed, and she said softly, "You've already seen the martial arts styles of the eight new protectors, but you're not familiar with Leng Chaozong and Cai Liang. They are both ruthless and hostile towards you, so you must be wary..." She then suddenly switched to telepathic communication, saying, "Leng Chaozong, nicknamed the Nine-Finger Judge, is skilled in finger techniques. His most powerful move is the 'Ghost Arrow Throat Lock,' which strikes with all nine fingers simultaneously. It's said that no one in the martial world has ever escaped this move. Cai Liang comes from the Changbai Sect outside the Great Wall and is skilled in the 'Shadowless Divine Fist,' his punches are silent and impossible to defend against!" The voice abruptly stopped as Yu Rui and Yu Li gracefully approached.

Yu Rui and Ling Junyi were intimately familiar with each other, and she greeted them with a smile, "Young Master Ling, congratulations! You've successfully created the antidote for the 'poison,' a great achievement! And you're also honored as a candidate for the Chief Protector of Flowers. All the sisters in our sect hope you'll be selected smoothly." At the same time, she subtly reminded Ling Junyi when no one was looking. Ling Junyi was naturally grateful, but he couldn't show it at this moment, only nodding quietly.

The duel finally began soon. The two stopped about three zhang away from the stone steps, standing one zhang apart, facing each other. Shaoyao stood between them and asked, "Will you use weapons or fists?"

Leng Chaozong replied, "I never use weapons. If Young Master Ling wishes to use weapons, that's fine too."

Peony turned her face, her starry eyes gazing tenderly at Ling Junyi, and asked, "And you?"

Ling Junyi smiled faintly and said, "Since Brother Leng is not using weapons, I will naturally accompany you unarmed."

Peony frowned slightly, then solemnly said, "The Supreme One has repeatedly instructed that today's competition is primarily a contest; both sides should stop when they have made their point, and neither is allowed to use any deadly techniques. Don't forget this." These words, though seemingly righteous, were in reality a clear restriction on Nine-Fingered Judge Leng Chaozong, preventing him from using his "Throat-Locking Technique"! Nine-Fingered Judge Leng Chaozong, a seasoned veteran of the martial world, certainly understood this. With a deep gaze, he unconsciously glanced at Ling Junyi, secretly thinking, "This kid has really got lucky with women with his face that pleases them. It's better to just hand him over than to use assassination skills. What's the point of competing?" But despite his thoughts, he still respectfully replied, "Your subordinate obeys."

Shaoyao said, "Alright, you can begin." She then took a few steps back. Leng Chaozong, the Nine-Finger Judge, was still wearing his blue robe, not having taken it off, showing his arrogance and disregard for Ling Junyi. Ling Junyi, also wearing a long robe, stood in the arena, his blue robe fluttering, his demeanor composed, truly like a jade tree in the wind, extremely elegant! At this moment, the spectators had gathered from both sides. The courtesans saw him smiling, standing there, looking every bit the scholar, not like someone about to fight. Of those present, only Wang Rui had witnessed Ling Junyi's skills on the boat; the rest secretly worried for him!

The Nine-Fingered Judge, Leng Chaozong, was small and thin, but his sinister gaze gradually focused, like two bolts of cold lightning, fixed on Ling Junyi. He took a half step forward with his left foot, his hands forming palms, slowly raising them to his chest. It was clear that his true energy had gathered in his palms, ready to be released. Ling Junyi didn't assume a fighting stance, remaining as composed as before, standing there unprepared. The Nine-Fingered Judge, Leng Chaozong, waited for a while, and seeing that he still didn't move, he couldn't help but ask in a deep voice, "Is Young Master Ling ready?"

Ling Junyi smiled and said, "Brother Leng, please demonstrate your skills." He still hadn't even assumed a fighting stance, speaking casually! Peony gave him a deep, penetrating look, clearly scolding him for underestimating his opponent; he simply didn't know how powerful Leng Chaozong was!
