In the Battle of Loom in Chapter 3

, the Zaku, true to its heavily armored nature, was hit by two missiles, losing only one arm and some of its armor twisted.

While not a fatal wound, the loss of an arm made it difficult for the machine to maintain balance, and the pilot's self-defense skills were clearly insufficient to overcome this. Christian, helmet in hand, went into the hangar, where Hans and Jacobson were already waiting.

Mirei himself had three directly subordinate fighters, and in fact, it would have been more convenient for him to go it alone. However, abandoning them would mean automatically losing a member of his four-unit squadron. Therefore, he had no choice but to coordinate with them.

Choosing a Zaku with the most evasive maneuvers, seemingly that of a novice, Milley used his comrades' attacks from the front as cover to approach from the rear, rewarding the enemy with two missiles and setting a new record for the day. "Fool, that far! Don't waste bullets." Jacobson was thinking to himself how he was still acting like a novice, but after spotting the target fighter dodging amidst the flashes of gunfire, he was hit squarely by a bullet, adding another crash to Christian's record.

"Just a lucky break, hit it, looks like I'm on a roll today." Jacobson laughed with Hans, unaware that Christian wasn't entirely relying on luck; it was more of an intuition! He just felt the enemy would hide in that direction, so he opened fire. Could this be the power of a new human?

This thought crossed Christian's mind, but he immediately shook his head and dismissed it. He was just an ordinary person; how could he possess such power?

Looking at the overall battle situation, as the two sides closed in, the inaccurate Migaron cannons gradually became a threat. This was particularly disadvantageous for the Self-Defense Forces, whose numbers were only a third of the enemy's. More importantly, to protect the nuclear fusion propulsion engines, the ships couldn't maintain relative speed to increase the distance from the Federation forces.

"Is this the end?" Gibbs said resentfully, realizing that a Zaku was chasing after him. He wasn't done yet; he'd only shot down one Zaku so far, and that was with his subordinates.

Just when he thought his death was near, the Zaku behind him exploded.

"Is that the captain? Don't let this opportunity slip by." After the Zaku exploded, a friendly fighter appeared.

"Mire?"

Gibbs opened his cluttered communicator screen; Milley's face was full of smugness.

"You're a captain now too!"

"Let's win this prize together!"

Apart from keeping two missiles for self-defense if necessary, the two of them fired all their missiles at the enemy ship.

The massive warship tried to evade and launch heat decoys. However, the two fighter jets combined still managed to hit the ship six or seven times, blowing off the entire stern and damaging the bridge and second turret. After they passed by, the escort fleet made the decision to abandon ship within a minute, and lifeboats scrambled away from the heavily damaged, immobile, and sinking vessel.

"We didn't wipe out the entire ship, but we must have killed at least a hundred or two!"

Milley and Gibbs made their way back to the ship for resupply through the chaotic battlefield.

"We did it! We did it!"

Gibbs clenched his fists excitedly, tears welling in his eyes inside his helmet. After losing his family and men, and suffering repeated defeats, he had finally avenged his loss. He made a vow in his heart that this time it was just one ship, but next time he would annihilate the Self-Defense Forces.

"Avoid those jaku and go back to the ship for resupply! We've run out of missiles."

"Um... okay... then!"

Milley understood why Gibbs' voice choked with emotion. Thinking of the lovers and friends taken from the Self-Defense Forces, only the blood of the Self-Defense Forces could wash away the hatred in their hearts.

This chaotic battle, detrimental to the Self-Defense Forces, was averted under Commander Delz's orders, with the Self-Defense Forces automatically retreating and most Federation fighters running out of missiles and needing to return to their ships for resupply. The cost was the destruction of the nuclear fusion propulsion engines by the Federation.

The blinding light illuminating the entire battlefield signaled the failure of Operation Britain, another colony satellite crash operation. Although over two billion lives were lost in the colonies, hundreds of millions were saved on Earth.

"Aerem is safe now,"

Christian thought, clenching his fist in excitement, silently thanking Commander Delz and the Federation for their correct decision. Now he could fight with all his might, free from the torment of his conscience.

"Federal Army, let's settle this fairly this time!"

He then transferred the call to Klassen.

"How's it going? Aside from some sporadic fighting, everything's over around here. Let's go find Captain Steiner!"

"I never thought it would be Squad Leader Sher's turn after Conrad."

Klassen's voice was resentful and helpless, lacking her usual heroic spirit that rivaled any man's.
