The Hundred Women's Chronicle:
The Tortured Woman
(Chapter Twenty-Four)
Slowly, Slowly? Torture
brings life and death, waking and drowsing, drooling and urinating.
Whips come and go, leaving blood blisters all over the body.
A few cups of pepper water, how can they withstand being tied up and hung by a hook?
The cruel official, so insidious and vicious, playing tricks and pretending to be a god.
Let him abuse his power and violence.
I, the old woman, with my sharp tongue, mock him.
He indulges in his lust and shame, this hatred will surely be avenged in the next life.
Pulleyboards and wooden pestles, in the bustling marketplace, the noise of voices fills the air.
That cruelty, how can a single word, "pain," describe it?
Chapter One: Venting Personal Resentment, the Lady Abandons Her Favored Maid, Fulfilling an Old Dream
. Zhou Buys a Mansion, Abandoning Withered Flowers in the Wilderness, Her Heart Filled with Sorrow.
A withered willow is married to a new branch, sadly guarding the cold window.
Once she tasted delicacies, now she chews chaff.
Life is full of changes, the future is uncertain.
Zhou was a maidservant of Zhou Taishi, a high-ranking official in the imperial court. Because of her fair skin, delicate features, and slender waist, she was deeply favored by Zhou Taishi, who took her as a concubine. Her understanding nature, eloquence, and quick wit captivated him, leaving him with no time for his other concubines. For many years, he poured all his affection and energy into Zhou. However, fate is unpredictable. After a banquet, Zhou Taishi suddenly fell seriously ill. Doctors were helpless, and all medicines were ineffective. He passed away. But as the saying goes, extremes meet, and after Zhou Taishi's death, his wife immediately punished Zhou. She not only banished Zhou from her position as his primary wife but also confined her to a cold palace. Not long after, his wife found Zhou a husband—a poor young man named Bi Baishun who had been renting land from the Zhou family for many years.
Forced by Madam Zhou, Zhou Shi, with tears of sorrow, hastily packed her belongings and reluctantly married Bi Baishun, an honest and simple tenant farmer. Leaving the palatial Zhou mansion and arriving at Bi Baishun's thatched hut, Zhou Shi felt as if she had entered another world. Faced with the cruel reality, Zhou Shi realized the impermanence of life, like the floating clouds in the sky. No one can say for sure where those ever-changing clouds will eventually drift, so who can know where their own destiny lies?
"Wife, please sit down!" The poor young man, without spending a single copper coin, unexpectedly gained a beautiful young woman. Overjoyed, Baishun was somewhat at a loss for words. Seeing Zhou Shi standing tearfully in the empty, cold room, carrying a bundle, the poor young man hurriedly got up, wiping the creaking chair with his tattered sleeve as he eagerly called out, "Come, please sit down and rest for a while, I'll make you some tea!"
"Daughter-in-law," Bai Shun's mother, a thin, old woman with bound feet, approached Zhou Shi with a beaming smile, taking Zhou Shi's soft, white hand in her hand, her heart overflowing with joy: Oh, what a blessing! Heaven has eyes, bestowing such a good wife upon my son. Although she's not the original, what more could a poor family like ours ask for? After all, she's a gift from Madam Zhou!
"Hmph," seeing her mother-in-law endlessly touching her soft hand, the rough fingers scratching at Zhou Shi's skin, Zhou Shi snorted disdainfully and withdrew her hand in annoyance.
Bi Baishun borrowed half a packet of West Lake Maojian tea from his neighbor and asked his mother to boil a kettle of water. Then, he respectfully presented the teacup to Zhou Shi. Zhou Shi glared at Baishun: "I won't drink it!" Then, Zhou Shi carefully placed her bundle on the earthen bed and sighed helplessly: "Alas!" Looking at the rickety windowpane letting in drafts, Zhou Shi, though filled with sorrow, could only resign herself to her fate: "Forget it," she thought, "there's no use being heartbroken. Although my master has treated me well, he's getting old and will pass away sooner or later. After his death, my mistress certainly won't keep me in the mansion forever. Even if I don't marry this poor boy, she'll arrange for me to be sent to a noble family to continue my life as a servant. Rather than living a life of having to be subservient to others, it's better to follow this poor boy and live a peaceful, uneventful life. The Bi family may be poor, but Bai Shun is an honest man. I observed him carefully just now, and the young man's features are quite good. In any case, in every way, he's a hundred times better than this old coffin lid. And most importantly, this poor boy will absolutely not dare to neglect me, and my mother-in-law will certainly not dare to be difficult. From now on, I will be the uncrowned queen of this impoverished household, the supreme mistress."
"Bai Shun," thinking of this, Zhou finally stopped her tears. She untied the bundle, took out her own clothes, and began filling Bai Shun's empty, tattered wooden chest. She handed her future husband a handful of loose silver coins: "Go, buy some wine and food; that will be our wedding feast!"
"Okay, okay, okay," the young man exclaimed excitedly, almost jumping for joy. He took the loose silver coins with both hands and dashed out of the gate to the market to buy wine and tea.
As the sun gradually slid westward, the enticing aroma of meat wafted from the Bi family's simple thatched hut for the first time. Neighbors craned their necks, gossiping and unanimously concluding: Bai Shun is quite the lucky fellow!
"Hehe," seeing Bai Shun bustling around inside and outside the house with his mother, obsequiously responding to Zhou's calls, the neighbors, filled with envy and jealousy, murmured, "Judging from this, Bai Shun should change his name. From now on, he'll be called Bai Shun, hehe! Obedient to his wife in every way..."
While the neighbors were gossiping, the Bi family's wedding feast had officially begun. Looking at the table full of chicken, duck, fish, and meat, Zhou, who was already used to delicacies, naturally didn't care. Although the dishes were ordinary, even low-class, their significance was extraordinary. Zhou picked up a cracked porcelain bowl and took Bai Shun's arm, saying, "Come, husband, pick up your wine bowl too, let's drink a toast together."
"Yes, yes," the poor boy was overjoyed. Actually, Bai Shun didn't drink at all, but today, he had made up his mind that no matter what, even if it was poison, he would drink it. Bai Shun picked up his wine bowl, and under Zhou's alluring gaze, tilted his head back and began to gulp down the wine. Zhou did not hesitate either, giving Bai Shun a flirtatious look before also gulping down her own wine.
"My daughter-in-law has quite the capacity for alcohol!" The mother-in-law sat at the table with a smile, sincerely praising her. Then, she picked up her rice bowl, haphazardly scooped some food into it, and discreetly slipped away to the outer room. "Hehe, you two drink, drink slowly!"
After a bowl of strong liquor, the young man's face turned red and he was dizzy. The poor boy sat blankly on the earthen kang, gazing at his flower-like bride across the table. The clumsy Bai Shun didn't know how to express his admiration: "Hehe, my wife, you're so beautiful, so radiant, I love you to death!"
"Is that so?" Seeing her mother-in-law discreetly leave, and with the strong liquor in her mouth, Zhou's suppressed desires ignited again. Hearing the poor boy's simple, flattering words, Zhou put down her bowl, tilted her head, and sweetly called out, "Since you like her, please come over! Hehe."
"My lady," upon hearing Zhou's invitation, Bai Shun's heart pounded with excitement. Trembling, he crawled across the dining table to Zhou's side. However, just as Bai Shun raised his hand to unbutton Zhou's outer garment, and Zhou, burning with desire, awaited that moment, the young man abruptly stopped. His strong hand gently rested on Zhou's lower abdomen, like a novice soldier facing Zhou, a young but seasoned veteran of the ways of love, a poor virgin, inevitably hesitant and fearful. Zhou saw this and was delighted: Hehe, what an honest man! Anyone else would have pounced like a wolf! The more shy Bai Shun became, the happier Zhou was. She even reached out and grasped Bai Shun's wrist, smiling as she reached into her bosom: "Hehe, what did you feel?"
“Boobs,” Bai Shun answered blankly, his hands greedily kneading Zhou's large, white breasts, which bulged like steamed buns. “Hehe, hehe,” the young man chuckled lewdly as he touched them. Zhou unbuckled Bai Shun's belt, pulled out his already hard member, and held it happily in her hands. She lowered her head and examined it carefully. “Hehe, have you ever been with a woman before?”
“No,” Bai Shun answered honestly. Zhou expressed doubt. “When you were feeling pent up, didn’t you go to a brothel to relieve your pent-up desire?” “
I wouldn’t dare,” Bai Shun answered truthfully. “Those kinds of places are not for poor people like us. First, we don’t have the money, and second, we wouldn’t dare go. I’m not only shy, but I’m also naturally timid. When I see a stranger, I don’t even dare to lift my head, especially a strange woman. I don’t even dare to look at her, for fear of getting into trouble…”
"Look at your abilities," Zhou said mockingly, pinching Bai Shun's arm. "You call yourself a man? You're such a coward!"
"Today, I'm not afraid anymore," Bai Shun, unable to contain himself any longer under Zhou's teasing, leaped up. "I'm not afraid anymore! You're my wife, I'm not afraid anymore, not even death!" As she spoke, Zhou had already undressed, lying back happily, spreading her white legs, and waving her hand seductively at Bai Shun. "Since you're not afraid, then come at me! Don't just talk the talk, hehe."
"Wife, I'm coming!" Bai Shun charged forward, his gleaming member erect. A satisfied smile bloomed on Zhou's face as she gently stroked Bai Shun's body, immediately feeling the surging youthful vitality: those firm muscles; that incredibly elastic skin; those bulging veins like mountains; that fiery breath; all of that was something that Master Zhou could never compare to. The moment Bai Shun inserted that thing into Zhou's body, Zhou, overwhelmed with excitement, became somewhat oblivious. While enjoying Bai Shun's friction, she tenderly caressed his body. As her emotions surged, Zhou began to pinch and twist him hard, but Bai Shun's muscles were harder than rock. Despite her efforts, she couldn't manage to hold him. Meanwhile, Bai Shun, like a young calf in its first heat, panted and thrust vigorously. Zhou was incredibly happy, almost floating on air: "Oh—oh, oh—oh, oh—oh," Zhou moaned ecstatically, her arms wrapped around Bai Shun's neck. Her lower body was already soaked, even the mattress was wet. Zhou's eyes were wide open, as if in death. The strongest sensation Bai Shun gave her was: his thing was so hard, vibrating inside her until she felt numb, itchy, and had a strong urge to urinate. So, Zhou tried to relax her body slightly and quietly began to urinate. But what she found wasn't urine at all; it was a large, excessive amount of vaginal fluid, instantly flooding her lower body. After their marriage,
Zhou
Shi refused to let Bai Shun toil in the fields all day long. Having spent years by Zhou Taishi's side, receiving generous rewards from the old master, she now gave him five taels of silver as capital to buy small commodities and earn meager profits. Bai Shun loved this business. Every morning after breakfast, he would shoulder his load and tirelessly travel through the streets and alleys. When he returned home in the evening, Zhou Shi would have already prepared dinner, and the family would sit around the table, happily enjoying their meal. Then, his mother would tidy up the table and wash the dishes, while Bai Shun would take out his day's earnings and sit cross-legged with Zhou Shi on the earthen platform. The young couple would count and calculate: "How many copper coins did we earn today?"
"Not bad," Zhou Shi replied, finally calculating the profit: "Eight copper coins. Alright," Zhou Shi yawned and began to undress for bed. So the young couple snuggled into bed together. Before falling asleep, of course, they had to do *that* kind of thing. While tenderly cuddling his wife, Bai Shun recounted his day's events, which Zhou Shi listened to with great interest. "Anything else?" Zhou Shi asked, still wanting more. "What other news did you hear today?" "
Yes, there is," Bai Shun replied after a moment's thought, trying to satisfy his wife's curiosity. "Oh, right, I just remembered! Old Scholar Xu from Xu Family Village is selling his house to fund his trip to the capital for the imperial examinations, but he's only willing to sell a small part of it, so no one's willing to buy it!"
"Oh," Bai Shun said casually, but Zhou Shi took it to heart. "Scholar Xu, I know him!"
"How do you know him?" Bai Shun looked at Zhou Shi in confusion. Zhou Shi said, "Xu Xiucai comes from a family of officials, but their fortunes have been declining. Three generations haven't passed the imperial examinations, and Xu Xiucai is the fourth generation. He's taken the exams countless times, but still hasn't passed. When my master was alive, he bought some of Xu Xiucai's land. When the contract was being written, a middleman was hired, and the buyer and seller had a drink together. My master took me to that banquet, and that's how I met Xu Xiucai, who had repeatedly failed the exams. That land sale was to raise money for his trip to the capital for the exams!" Zhou Shi's eyes suddenly lit up: "Husband, since no one else wants to buy it, let's buy it..." "
Buy—?" Bai Shun looked troubled: "Easy for you to say. I want to buy it, but where will the money come from?"
"That's no problem," Zhou Shi answered readily: "I have it. The jewelry and valuables my master gave me—exchanging them for silver is enough to buy a corner of Xu Xiucai's house!"
"Of course, that's wonderful!" Bai Shun was incredibly excited upon hearing that Zhou was going to use her private savings to buy half of the impoverished scholar's estate. "Ah, not only have I gotten a wonderful wife for free, but I've also unexpectedly acquired a grand mansion from a prominent family! My life is just so good!"
"Look at you, so smug," Zhou pinched Bai Shun. "I've had enough of this place. Scholar Xu is selling his house; this is a godsend! Tomorrow, don't sell anything; find a middleman and arrange to buy half of his estate!"
Whether Scholar Xu's half of the estate will end up in Zhou's hands remains to be seen. (Chapter 2 of "

The Criminal Wife ")

A frivolous woman composes a poem to express her feelings; a handsome young man kneels to beg for pleasure . The young
woman looks up, admiring the beautiful scenery of the mansion.
Clear blue water reflects the bottom; slender bamboo grows tall and thin.
A rockery reflects a handsome figure; a hundred flowers exude fragrance.
What a handsome young man! I wish to be his lover.
During a casual conversation with Bai Shun, Zhou learned that Scholar Xu was considering selling his ancestral home to raise funds for his journey to the capital for the imperial examinations. Without much hesitation, Zhou decided to use her personal connections to buy half of the Xu family estate. However, in feudal times, men were responsible for handling all matters, big and small, especially such significant purchases of property.
Bai Shun, who had never seen much of the world and had never done anything substantial, was forced into the role. The biggest deal he had ever made was buying a boatload of bamboo from a southern merchant, which cost a mere twenty-four taels of silver. Today, with the help of a middleman, Bai Shun, carrying one hundred taels of silver that Zhou had exchanged for jewelry and valuables, strode confidently into the spacious, secluded Xu family mansion, which was permeated with the smell of ink.
First came introductions, then bows and exchanges of greetings, followed by pleasantries, a few words of small talk, a sip of tea, and finally, the main business: bargaining, negotiating, and writing the contract. Once an agreement was reached, both parties signed and sealed the deal, and the house sale was finally completed. Old Scholar Xu, having received the silver, generously prepared a feast. In the evening, Bai Shun, clutching a document, his face flushed from drinking, returned to his thatched hut with the help of the intermediary, taking one step forward and two steps back. The moment Bai Shun stepped across the threshold, he exclaimed joyfully,
"Wife, we have a house! We have a very, very big house!"
With that, Bai Shun slumped onto the earthen bed with a thud and immediately fell into a deep sleep. Zhou Shi hurriedly unbuttoned Bai Shun's clothes, pulled out the document, and stared at the words on it, too excited to sleep a wink all night.
Although it was past midnight, the thatched hut in Bai Shun's house was still brightly lit by candlelight. Gradually, the document Zhou was holding suddenly underwent a miraculous transformation, turning into the magnificent Tang Dynasty mansion that Zhou had always dreamed of. Zhou danced with joy, skipping and jumping into the mansion. The quiet and secluded courtyard was shaded by willows, blooming with flowers, and filled with the chirping of birds. Pushing open the heavy, gleaming, pearl-lacquered gate, she was greeted by a spacious and bright hall:
"Here, the ancestral tablets should be placed," Zhou said to Bai Shun, who was following behind her, pointing to the wall in the center of the hall, speaking in the tone of a mistress of the house.
Bai Shun timidly said, "But my family fled here from a famine-stricken area. Besides a carrying pole and two bamboo baskets, we have nothing else, let alone any portraits of our ancestors. What can we use to worship them?" "
Idiot," Zhou scolded, "You'll never get it. Just find an artist and have them paint a few pictures, that'll do." Zhou was too lazy to pay attention to her foolish husband anymore. She walked around the hall and headed towards the room on the east side:
"From now on, this will be my bedroom."
"Yes," Bai Shun nodded in reply, "We'll live here, and Mother will live across the hall."
“No,” Zhou shook her head in denial, “You don’t understand anything. In wealthy families, husbands and wives don’t usually share a room. The master, mistress, maids, and servants all live separately, each with their own room according to seniority and rank. You haven’t seen anything like this! Listen carefully,” Zhou said, straightening her neck, adopting the air of a noblewoman, “From now on, you are not allowed to enter my room without my permission, understand?”
“Yes, yes,” Bai Shun replied reluctantly, “I understand!”
“Don’t keep thinking about that,” the clever Zhou Shi said, seeing the reason for Bai Shun’s troubled expression. She reprimanded him mercilessly, “A man must achieve something in his career; otherwise, how can he face the world? You must work hard to build up the family business and try to buy me two maids.”
Zhou Shi added encouragingly, “If you do well and earn a lot of money, I might consider taking you a concubine, hehe.”
Bai Shun didn’t speak, but instead gave a bitter smile, thinking to himself: This little business is barely enough to maintain a basic standard of living; how can I dare to dream of anything else?
Zhou Shi spent the long night lost in these aimless thoughts. As the outside world slowly brightened, Zhou Shi lost all patience. She ordered Bai Shun to hire people to move, while she herself, disregarding her status as a woman, boldly ran towards the Xu residence, eager to see her “mansion” as soon as possible!
Old Scholar Xu warmly received Zhou. Following the directions on the document, Zhou arrived at her "half of the kingdom" under the old scholar's guidance. After a few more polite words, the old scholar excused himself and left. Zhou looked around the house, her previously beaming face immediately turning cloudy:
"That fool! He didn't even check the house before signing the contract. Look what he bought! This is hardly half of the kingdom! It's less than a tenth of the original house! It's practically a tiny piece of land! Sigh!"
Zhou grumbled discontentedly as she greedily surveyed Xu's mansion: "What a huge courtyard! It's like the legendary royal garden!"
Zhou was indeed right. Although Xu's mansion appeared dilapidated at first glance, it couldn't hide its former grandeur. Rows of pines and cypresses lined the courtyard, willows drooped low, artificial hills surrounded the area, and the pond rippled with clear water. The elegantly designed pavilions; the gatehouse with its peeling paint and carved beams; the high walls, dilapidated and collapsed in many places, made Zhou Shi deeply understand the true meaning of the saying, "Even a starved camel is bigger than a horse!"
Zhou Shi turned her head, frowning as she looked at the so-called "half of the kingdom" she had bought for one hundred taels of silver. Based on her years of experience in wealthy families, Zhou Shi knew it was nothing more than a storage room from the Xu family's heyday.
"Hmph, this good-for-nothing!" Zhou Shi cursed, calling it "idiot" and "useless," as she pushed open the door to her new house. This time, Zhou Shi was right again; the layout of the room was completely warehouse-style. Zhou Shi's gaze fell from the roof beams to the ground, and she became even more furious. On the brick-paved floor, near the east wall, was a large, sturdy underground cellar.
Looking at the cellar, Zhou was about to continue her tirade when Bai Shun and the neighbors pushed their carts
into the courtyard, making a "heave-ho" sound. Zhou went out to greet them, pulled Bai Shun aside, and first scolded him before starting to complain. Bai Shun pitifully explained,
"Wife, a hundred taels of silver can only buy a house this big. Of course, a big mansion is desirable, but do you know how much that scholar Xu is asking for? Just that three-courtyard house," Bai Shun quietly pointed to a group of buildings behind the artificial hill, "he's asking for a thousand taels of silver! Wife, we're still not well-off. The house is nice, but we're too weak to move it!"
Zhou scolded Bai Shun again, but in the end, she could only accept reality. Although the layout of the house was far from ideal, even somewhat cramped, Zhou, as the respected wife, still had to maintain her dignity. Since ancient times, the east side of the house has been considered the most auspicious direction. Therefore, Zhou arranged her bedroom on the east side of the house, placing her bed on the floor above the cellar. With her meager remaining silver, Zhou decorated the bedroom. True to her word, she wouldn't allow Bai Shun to enter her room without permission. Her mother-in-law was even less likely to try; if she occasionally peeked into Zhou's comfortable haven out of curiosity, she would immediately be met with Zhou's merciless scolding.
After settling the impoverished household somewhat, Bai Shun picked up his peddler's load again and went back to running his small business, not knowing when he would become wealthy; not knowing when he would be able to buy his wife two maids; and as for his concubine, it seemed there was absolutely no hope for him in this lifetime.
With nothing to do, Zhou spent her days wandering in the Xu family garden, imitating the mannerisms of the young ladies and noblewomen of the Zhou household. Sometimes she would stroke the strange rocks and recite a famous poem in a seemingly serious manner; other times she would sit in the pavilion, gazing into the distance, hoping that her Prince Charming would appear soon.
"Ah, my love, how are you!" Facing the high, partially collapsed courtyard wall, Zhou imagined a handsome man perhaps hiding among the ruins, peeking at her beauty. In the vast sea of classical novels, such stories were countless, inevitably stirring feelings of longing in Zhou.
"Hehe," recalling the alluring plots in classical novels, Zhou's beautiful face flushed slightly. "I wonder if I, Miss Zhou, will ever have such an encounter, and then witness a bizarre and perverse love affair involving an extramarital affair!"
In the Zhou Taishi Mansion, Zhou had often perused erotic novels. The bizarre plots and alluring descriptions always excited her whenever she reminisced about them. Her face would burn, her heart would race, and her whole body would tremble uncontrollably. That kind of desire outside of marriage, that kind of love that defied human ethics, would make any normal person yearn for it. The more something cannot be done casually, the more it fills one with curiosity and desire.
"Madam," Zhou Shi was lost in thought, gazing at the ruins, when suddenly, a man's voice called out behind her, sending shivers down her spine. Turning around, she saw a handsome young man dressed in a scholar's robe, a scholar's cap on his head, standing near the pavilion, a painted fan in his hand, smiling at her. Seeing Zhou Shi turn around, the young man skillfully closed his fan, raised his arms, and bowed humbly to her:
"Greetings! I'm sorry to have disturbed you, Madam!"
"Sir, you're too kind. This humble servant greets you." Zhou Shi hurriedly returned the bow, while secretly glancing at the young man out of the corner of her eye. The boy was about fifteen or sixteen years old, with a clean face, white teeth and red lips. His bright, piercing eyes were full of spirit, but also radiated a flirtatious light. Just as Zhou was secretly peeping at the boy, the handsome boy was also staring at Zhou with lust. Whether by coincidence or intention, their eyes met and sparks flew.
At this moment, witnessing the young man's alluring beauty and observing his impeccable manners, Zhou's heart fluttered even more. She couldn't help but ask, "Sir, what is your honorable name? Where are you from?"
"My surname is Xu, and my given name is Jin. I am but the young master of the Xu family! Madam," the young master said, glancing at Zhou out of the corner of his eye, "From now on, we will be neighbors!" The handsome young man then extended an invitation to Zhou. Considering that the old scholar Xu was still at home, Zhou hesitated, her face showing a troubled expression.
Xu Jin seemed to have read Zhou's mind:
"Madam, there's no need to worry. My father set off for the capital yesterday!"
"Then," Zhou thought to herself, secretly delighted: a golden opportunity! On the surface, Zhou feigned modesty, saying, "If you don't mind, sir, then this humble concubine will trouble your esteemed household."
Muttering these polite words, Zhou followed the handsome young man gracefully into the main residence of the Zhou family. Looking at the spacious hall, the exquisite furnishings, the antique furniture, the genuine calligraphy and paintings by famous figures, and the dazzling array of ancient books, Zhou secretly lamented her own poverty, insignificance, and even lack of taste. Thinking this, she even felt a pang of self-pity: "Alas, look at them! Although it's dilapidated, those calligraphy and paintings, those ancient books, are still priceless. And look at myself, I've truly lived a wasted life!" Thus, Zhou began to see the Xu family as paradise in her mind. Compared to the Xu family, even her own home seemed three parts insignificant.
"Wow," Zhou exclaimed sincerely, gazing at everything before her, "Mr. Xu, your family is truly a scholarly family!"
"You flatter me," said the young Xu, both humble and deeply moved. "In recent generations, the Xu family has suffered many misfortunes, and our fortunes have gradually declined. In order to revive our ancestral business, my father named me 'Xu Jin,' hoping that I would study diligently and pass the imperial examinations in the future! This is my room, please come in, Madam."
Xu Jin ushered Madam Zhou into his room, and after settling the young woman in, he offered her tea. Then, the handsome young man unfolded a white embroidered fan that had no inscription, picked up a pen, and said to Madam Zhou with great emotion, "Today, I have a rather unusual feeling about meeting you, Madam. To express this feeling, I, though not very talented, will boldly offer my humble contribution!"
After speaking, the handsome young man dipped his pen in ink, and a very provocative little poem was immediately completed in one stroke. Having finished reciting the poem, the handsome young man respectfully presented the still-wet embroidered fan to Madam Zhou, saying,
"Madam, please accept this fan as a small gift. I am but a fool, and I apologize for making you laugh!"
Madam Zhou gladly accepted the fan, which read:
"An old house, a humble dwelling, covered in dust, suddenly I see a purple skirt.
I suspect a celestial being has descended upon my humble abode, and I am instantly
captivated." "Sir, what excellent literary talent!" Madam Zhou praised with a smile, thinking to herself: Heh, you little rascal, this poem is clearly sending me a seductive message, coaxing me into a trap! Hmph, when I served Master Zhou, I learned quite a bit from him, and now it will finally come in handy. Watch me! Zhou put away her embroidered fan, rose, and came to the table:
"Sir, it would be impolite not to reciprocate. This lowly concubine is without talent or virtue, so I'll waste your precious ink by scribbling a few lines myself."
"Oh," the handsome young man stared at Zhou, somewhat incredulous: How could she write poetry? Out of politeness, he unfolded another blank embroidered fan. Zhou picked up her brush and, without much thought, composed a poem in response to Xu Jin's short poem, presenting it to him. Xu Jin held the fan in his hands, examining it closely:
"Dust accumulates in the granary and cellar, I am poor and lowly, wrapped in a cloth skirt.
A literary star descends upon the garden, and I, this concubine, have lost my true soul."
"Truly a talented woman!"
The handsome young man, holding the embroidered fan, trembled with excessive excitement, his eyes fixed on Zhou, who responded with a knowing, charming smile. The handsome young man could no longer contain himself. He threw his embroidered fan onto the desk, his body went limp, and he knelt down at Zhou's feet with a thud:
"I am deeply grateful for your kindness, Madam. I am truly blessed by the heavens!"

Third Chapter of "The Hundred Women's Chronicle" (The Criminal Woman) The beautiful young woman gets a new gun in her new house, while the scholar finds his old love in his old home. Day and night, Zhou is busy digging a hole. Her slender hands dig through the yellow mud, her tender shoulders weigh down the willow basket. Sewage soaks her sleeves, fragrant sweat drenches her clothes. The scholar is shocked and astonished, while the young woman is overjoyed. Now, let's talk about Xu Jin. Although young, he is an expert in the world of pleasure. He doesn't study hard, his mind is completely immersed in romance and pleasure. He often lingers in the red-light district with wealthy young men, drinking wine, reciting lewd poems, and playing obscene tunes. Unfortunately, the family fortunes were declining, and the money Xu Jin could squander was very limited. Furthermore, his studies hadn't improved in years, and his angry father began to increase the burden on his son. Going out with friends to seek pleasure was now virtually impossible. For over a year, this dissolute young man had been driven to the brink of despair. A few days ago, Xu Jin, who was being forced to study diligently in his study by his father, glanced up and saw a mature young woman lingering in the courtyard. Xu Jin knew she was his new neighbor, the wife of the peddler Bai Shun. "What a beauty!" The young Xu pushed aside his books and, as if possessed, moved to the window. Looking out, he saw Zhou Shi, her hand resting on a crooked pine tree, leaning against a strange rock, gazing thoughtfully into the distance. A gentle breeze ruffled her glossy black hair, and the fickle willow branches playfully teased her full breasts. To get a better look, the handsome young man quietly opened the window. A gentle breeze wafted in, carrying a faint, sweet fragrance. Xu Jin involuntarily gasped, "How fragrant! It's been so long." He wasn't wrong; this familiar woman's scent was something the unambitious scholar hadn't smelled for days. Now, upon smelling it again, the young Xu Jin lost all interest in studying his books. However, Xu Jin was terrified of his father's authority and dared not sneak out of the study to be intimate with the beautiful young woman. He could only stand by the window, chin in hand, his eyes fixed on her, gazing longingly at her, indulging in unrestrained fantasies: The woman's face was remarkably similar to that of the courtesan Chunying, except Chunying's figure was far less slender, and her skin was incomparable. Wow, the woman's skin was so white, so fine, so tender! As he looked and thought, Xu Jin's hand couldn't help but stroke the soft, white window screen. Oh dear, the beauty is gone! Seeing her leave the artificial hill and head towards his home, Xu Jin disappointedly released the window screen. Watching her graceful gait and the rounded, swaying buttocks beneath her dress, Xu Jin's groin suddenly stirred; his penis erected, generating a strong urge to penetrate. The beautiful young woman's figure quickly disappeared behind the artificial hills and strange rocks, but her round little bottom was forever planted in Xu Jin's heart. After the beauty left, Xu Jin closed the window with great melancholy, not even liking to eat the dinner his father brought. He collapsed onto the bed, his lifeless eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. After a long while, fatigue and drowsiness gradually overcame him. The young man lazily closed his sore, lustful eyes, and immediately, Zhou's alluring figure appeared in his mind like a movie, especially those captivating little bottoms, making Xu Jin's mouth water. He grasped his hard, burning penis with both hands and began to vigorously thrust into the alluring figure before him. "Oh!" In the hazy light, Zhou suddenly saw Xu Jin's shameful act. After a scream, she covered her face and ran away. Xu Jin was not about to let her go. He was naked from the waist down, with his arms outstretched. He chased after her desperately among the artificial hills and strange rocks, pleading bitterly, "Beauty, I love you. I'm about to die of lust. Don't run away, don't hide. Please, let me kiss you." During the chase, Xu Jin stretched out his hand and finally grabbed Zhou. Zhou turned her head and gave Xu Jin a lewd smile. Xu Jin was overjoyed and his hand went straight for Zhou's crotch.

"Lazybones, look at the time! Get up and study!" Just as he was about to get his hands on Zhou Shi, his stern father's despairing shout jolted Xu Jin awake from his lewd dream. His father finally opened the study door: "I'm going to the capital for the imperial examinations. You absolutely mustn't go out and fool around. Stay home and study diligently, and keep an eye on the house. Otherwise, when I come back, I'll give you a good scolding!"
After packing his bags, the old scholar Xu gave his wayward son a final admonition before hurrying off. No sooner had his father stepped out of the courtyard than Xu Jin slipped out of the study, fanning himself with an embroidered fan, and quietly walked to the pavilion. Seeing the beautiful young woman staring blankly at the broken wall, the young Xu mustered his courage and began to speak to her in various ways. The young woman didn't resist at all, which secretly pleased Xu Jin: "Once I lure her into the study, I'll continue to seduce her with words, and then I'll enjoy myself to the fullest." Ah, gazing at the alluring figure of the beautiful young woman, Xu Jin sighed with a touch of melancholy: "Since I started out, I've only frequented the company of young beauties. A mature, respectable lady like this is someone I haven't yet touched. The pleasures of it are unimaginable. Today, I'll risk my life to get my hands on her, no matter the consequences." As the saying goes, "To die under a pomegranate skirt is to die a romantic death!" Since he'd already disregarded life and death, what use was dignity? The handsome young man's knees buckled, and he knelt before Zhou Shi. Not only that, to express his affection, he even lowered his head, cupped one of Zhou Shi's bound feet, and shamelessly kissed it.
Watching this unfold, Zhou was overjoyed: Ah, this little weed, hidden deep within the grand mansion, has finally had its day to shine! Climbing the broken wall of the Xu family estate—something only young ladies and noblewomen in ancient novels were passionate about, and willing to pay the ultimate price for, I've done it now, and even better, more brilliantly than them! Look at this young man, so noble, so high-ranking, so young, so handsome, kneeling at my feet like a servant, vulgarly nibbling at my toes while pitifully begging me. "Hmph," Zhou thought to herself, "the closer it gets to this point, the more arrogant I must appear, keeping him in suspense. I absolutely cannot give myself to him easily, even though I desperately need him too." So, Zhou pretended to be serious and pushed away the handsome young man's hand: "Sir, this is unacceptable! Wouldn't it be more pure, more ideal, more perfect, and more romantic to express our love through poetry? Why must we engage in such filthy and vulgar acts of physical intimacy?"
"Sister," Xu Jin, now burning with lust and completely out of control, stood up abruptly under Zhou's feigned push, his arms tightly wrapped around her slender waist. To show his affection, the handsome young man changed his form of address, pleading repeatedly, "Sister, wouldn't it be even more complete and more romantic if we could be intimate?"
"Sir, I already have a family. If outsiders find out about such a shameful affair, it will be no laughing matter!" Zhou had long been attracted to the handsome young man. Besides physical intimacy and lust, she had other ambitions: she wanted to become the mistress of the Xu family mansion and live the life of a noblewoman. So, before she could discern the handsome young man's true feelings, Zhou continued to half-heartedly resist, while Xu Jin's hands, without a word, reached inside her clothes and began to grope her wantonly. Zhou stopped resisting: "Sir, do you desire only a moment of pleasure, or do you wish to be husband and wife forever?"
"Sister," Xu Jin, blinded by lust, dared to promise anything to achieve his goal of defiling Zhou, "We will be husband and wife forever, I will definitely grow old with you, sister."
"Really?" Upon hearing this, Zhou no longer needed Xu Jin to pull her back; her body went limp and collapsed with a thud.
Xu Jin was overjoyed, his body burning with lust, pressing down on Zhou's soft body, while simultaneously cupping the beautiful young woman's face and biting her without regard for her appearance. Zhou, however, was experienced enough; even at this most beautiful moment, she remained calm and composed. Her slender white hands skillfully unbuttoned the young man's trousers, and she very satisfiedly grasped a smooth, bare penis. Zhou gently stroked it, secretly delighted: "Good, it hasn't grown any hair yet! It's a genuine young bud!"
The handsome young man's little treasure not only had no downy hair, but was also perfectly white and clean. Zhou held it in her hand, finding it a delightful sight. Before this, the thing Zhou had been most familiar with was, of course, Zhou Taishi's old, wrinkled spear, resembling a carrot's beard. The spearhead was a dull, lifeless brownish-red. Zhou Taishi's old spear was not only unsightly, but also useless, especially at crucial moments, always limp, limp, limp... which infuriated Zhou.
...; In the previous stage, due to the tricks of fate, Zhou got a new gun. This gun not only had excellent performance, but also had a lot of gunpowder, which often made Zhou feel dizzy and like she was about to ascend to heaven. Whenever the battle reached its climax, the abundant, seemingly inexhaustible ammunition made Zhou scream loudly, and even produced an indescribable urge to defecate. However, what came out was not urine, but a torrent of vaginal fluid. At this time, also due to the arrangement of fate, Zhou got a new set of equipment, a small, narrow-barreled, but gleaming revolver. However, there was a small regret: this gun only had two bullets. Holding the lovely revolver, Zhou was filled with emotion: Hehe, compared with Master Zhou's broken machine gun and Bai Shun's submachine gun, I wonder how the firepower of Xu Xiucai's pistol is. The impact force is definitely not strong enough, that's for sure.
"Ah—," Zhou Shi, as expected of a seasoned womanizer, found the handsome young man's pistol to be more show than substance; it misfired with a "bang" just as they got down to business. Zhou Shi smiled calmly, skillfully and mischievously pulling out the small pistol: "Hehe, sir, you came so quickly!"
"Sister," Xu Xiucai was unwilling to give up and prepared to swing the gun again, but Zhou Shi, seeing that it was getting late, hurriedly pushed the handsome young man away: "No, it's getting dark, this humble servant must go home to cook for her husband, sir, don't be in such a hurry, we'll meet again tomorrow!"
Everything is difficult at the beginning, especially this kind of affair between a man and a woman. Once the floodgates of emotion are opened, it's like a burst dam, unstoppable. Zhou Shi and Xu Jin, a man and woman of mismatched ages, for different purposes and desires, and in order to achieve their respective desires, were tightly bound together, and in the short term, without external forces, they were unwilling to separate.
Old Bai Shun was completely unaware of the affair and continued running his small business. Meanwhile, his mother, fearing her daughter-in-law, dared not step into Zhou's bedroom. The aging mother-in-law still believed her daughter-in-law was constantly indulging in her fantasies of being a wealthy lady. Thus, Zhou and Xu Jin's relationship grew increasingly passionate, behaving like a newlywed couple.
However, their happiness was short-lived. A little over a month later, the old scholar Xu, having failed the imperial examinations again, returned home dejected, having spent all the money from selling the warehouse. Back home, the old scholar seemed to sense something amiss, or perhaps he had some suspicion about his son's behavior. So, he hired people to build a large wall between Zhou and his house, ruthlessly isolating Zhou on the other side. The old scholar's next task was to check his son's homework, only to find that his son had devoted all his energy to Zhou Shi. For dozens of days, apart from the short poem he wrote for her, he hadn't written a single word, let alone any essays. Seeing this, the old scholar vented all his anger on his son. After giving him a severe scolding, the old scholar found an iron lock and locked his son in the study, forcing him to study diligently. Three meals a day were brought in by the old scholar through a small window in the door. Xu Jin sat blankly in the study, feeling as if he were in prison.
Losing Xu Jin, Zhou was also heartbroken and spent her days in her bedroom, cursing the old scholar's pedantry. She had no other ideas but to do so. As she paced around the room, her delicate lotus-shaped footsteps accidentally landed on the floor cover of the cellar next to the bed. Bored, Zhou bent down and lifted the floor cover. Looking at the dark cellar and smelling the pungent musty smell, Zhou suddenly had a flash of inspiration: "My storeroom is only separated from Xu Jin's study by a wall. Why don't I do something with this cellar?"
The thought arose immediately, and Zhou set to work. She found the shovel and hoe Bai Shun used for farm work. Since she was bored anyway, Zhou sneaked into the cellar and, without her mother-in-law's knowledge, secretly began digging across to the neighboring house. She would secretly carry away the excavated soil while her mother-in-law was out digging for wild vegetables and dump it in her own garden.
Persistence pays off. Zhou dug tirelessly every day. After several dozen days, as Zhou huddled in the narrow hole, continuing to dig, she heard a loud "whoosh!" and the soil in front of her collapsed. Zhou was startled, initially thinking she had collapsed the house. After a moment, through the billowing dust, Zhou wiped the dirt from her face and squinted to look ahead: Good heavens!
Zhou was both surprised and delighted. She was surprised that her cellar had been connected to the Xu family's cellar, and delighted that her efforts had not been in vain. At this moment, Xu Lang was right above Zhou, pacing back and forth, absentmindedly reciting classical Chinese phrases. Zhou was overjoyed and hurriedly crawled out of the earthen hole into the Xu family's cellar. Then she stood up and used a shovel to bang on the cellar lid above her head.
Thump—, thump—, thump—, thump—, the dull knocking startled Xu Jin, who was engrossed in his studies. He put down his book, followed the sound to the bedside, and noticed the cellar lid was shaking slightly. "What's going on? Is it haunted?" Xu
Jin muttered to himself. Just then, Zhou Shi cried out joyfully, "Xu Lang, it's not a ghost, it's me, your lowly concubine!"
"Ah—," upon hearing Zhou Shi's cry, Xu Lang didn't think much of it. He quickly lifted the cellar lid and looked at Zhou Shi, who was covered in yellow mud. Xu Lang sighed with emotion, "Alas, since ancient times, it has always been fairies descending from heaven. Who knew that the human world is full of wonders? Look, my beauty, when did you emerge from the ground!"
After saying this, Xu Lang reached out and pulled the mud-covered beauty up. To find out how tender their reunion will be, stay tuned for the next chapter.
