Encountering a pervert on a bus

I frequently take the bus and have seen many reports of "bus perverts" online, but I never believed they were true. I thought they couldn't possibly do such lewd things openly in broad daylight. a bit scary to think about now, but I recently encountered perverts on the bus twice, but luckily I reacted quickly and managed to handle both situations. The first time was around noon last month. My best friend had just returned from abroad, and I was going to a small gathering. I was wearing a short skirt, a low-cut top, and high heels. Just as I boarded the bus, I answered a phone call and wasn't paying much attention. A moment later, I felt someone rubbing against me from behind. I looked up and saw a chubby middle-aged man leaning against me, his arms gripping the handrail, trapping me against his chest.

Since it was rush hour and the bus was crowded, he used the flow of people getting on and off to keep getting closer to me. I felt disgusted and panicked because I had never experienced such harassment before. I glared at him, coughed twice, and bent over to try and push him aside. Unexpectedly, he didn't move away; instead, he became even more brazen… I glanced around at the people; because it was crowded, no one had noticed his lewd behavior yet. I wanted to expose his shameful act on the spot, but I had many reservations.

Just then, my classmate called. On a whim, I answered the phone loudly, “You want to warn me? Warn me about what? A bus pervert?… I know there are a lot of bus perverts these days, but isn't my husband a policeman? He arrested one a couple of days ago! It's so shameful! That guy is old, and he still has these kinds of thoughts. How embarrassing! I'll never go easy on someone like that… Okay, okay, I'm almost at my stop. My husband is waiting for me at the bus stop…”

As I finished speaking, I turned around and saw that the man had already squeezed to the door, clearly feeling guilty. Just then, the bus arrived at a stop. As soon as it stopped and the door opened, the lewd man dashed away with all his might. Through the window, I saw him looking back as he ran, which made me both laugh and cry.

The second encounter was last weekend when I went to the station to pick up my mother. I was wearing a short skirt again, but the pervert I encountered this time was different. He was actually taking pictures of me with his phone. It was only when a kind lady next to me deliberately nudged me that I saw his lewd behavior. Having learned from the first experience, I wasn't afraid at all. I quickly reached out and snatched his phone away, laughing and loudly saying, "Brother, what are you doing?" Everyone around looked this way, and I continued to shout, "You look so handsome, how can you do such a shameless thing!" The man looked embarrassed, "Sorry, I didn't mean to!" I said, "Well, whether you did it on purpose or not isn't up to me to decide, there are security cameras on the bus!" At this point, everyone gathered around and criticized him, and the driver called the police. In the end, the man received the punishment he deserved.

Sexual harassment is a deeply offensive issue for every woman, especially now that it's summer and girls wear less clothing, giving predators an opportunity. I'm sharing this to tell my fellow women that you must not be lenient when facing sexual harassment. Either resolve it cleverly or confront them on the spot. Don't be afraid; they've done something shameful, and they are the ones who deserve it. I also suggest that girls learn some self-defense techniques to avoid unnecessary trouble.
