Company organizes farm stay

A while ago, my company organized a trip to a rural resort in Zhejiang. It was more like a resort than a farm stay, with villas and four or five suites in each. Each suite was laid out like a budget hotel, with a private bathroom separated by a full-length glass wall, so you could see everything from the outside. My wife and I stayed in a suite on the second floor, on the east side. Our neighbors were Mr. Li, the HR manager, and his wife. He was born in 1973, more than ten years older than me, and almost 20 years older than my wife (born in 1990). He was already balding, and we weren't particularly close. He's a photographer, and he took pictures the whole way, from the scenery to us, and then he kept taking pictures of my wife, saying he wanted to practice portrait photography. I could tell his wife wasn't very happy, and I was a little annoyed too. This old man clearly has a wife, why is he staring at my wife and taking pictures of her?

On the second night of our stay at the farmhouse, a group of us were drinking and playing cards in the living room downstairs. Around midnight, my wife and Lao Li's wife couldn't take it anymore and went upstairs to rest. About ten minutes later, Lao Li also said he was getting drunk and needed to rest, so he went upstairs too. I stayed with the two couples downstairs for a little while longer before going back to my room.

I had only climbed halfway up the stairs when I heard my wife's loud voice coming from my room. Then the door opened heavily, and I saw Lao Li stumbling out of my room. He didn't seem to see me on the stairs and ran straight to his room next door. My head spun, and I immediately ran into the room. I saw my wife sitting on the edge of the bed wearing only a thin nightgown. I knew something was wrong, so I hurriedly asked her what had happened. My wife seemed a little shaken, and after a few minutes, she haltingly recounted what had happened.

Apparently, after going back to her room, my wife played on her phone for a while before going to take a shower. Not long after she finished showering, she heard the door open, and a man came in and lay down on the bed. My wife assumed it was me coming back and didn't think much of it. As mentioned before, the so-called bathroom was just a glass partition separating it from the bedroom; everything was clearly visible from both sides. However, my wife is nearsighted, and with only a dim bedside lamp on in the bedroom, she didn't realize that the person lying on the bed was actually Lao Li. So, she essentially put on a live bathing show right in front of Lao Li, right at his doorstep, for at least ten minutes. It's safe to say she was completely exposed until she finally walked out of the bathroom naked and realized who was on the bed. Extremely frightened, my wife frantically searched for cover while yelling at him to get out, which led to the scene I witnessed at the stairwell. My wife added that when she came out, she noticed Lao Li's eyes were fixed on her without any surprise, indicating that he had realized he was in the wrong room long ago, but had simply enjoyed the whole thing silently, emboldened by alcohol.

At this point, I was about to go next door to knock when my wife stopped me, saying it was pointless since there were other people living downstairs. I couldn't resist, so I lit a cigarette and decided to go next door anyway. Just then, I heard a lot of noise from next door, and Old Li's wife was speaking loudly, almost like she was cursing. A while later, someone knocked on the door. When she opened it, it was Old Li's wife. She said she had heard my wife's shouting, so she had interrogated Old Li repeatedly as soon as he entered. She said he had told her the truth and had already been scolded, and told us not to take it to heart, that he had just drunk too much and gone to the wrong room, and that none of the doors were locked, it really wasn't intentional, etc. I suppressed my anger and told Old Li to come out and apologize. His wife apologized repeatedly, saying Old Li was a coward (I spit on that!) and really didn't dare come. Then she begged us to forgive him in a low voice, adding meaningfully that it wouldn't be good for anyone if this got out. My kind wife kept saying, "It's alright, it's all because they drank too much," and I thought it was indeed not a good thing to make a fuss, so I kept quiet.

The next day, I barely went out, and Lao Li basically avoided me too. Since going back to work, I haven't spoken a single word to him. Just seeing that guy makes me furious; the image of him lecherously staring at my wife's naked body keeps flashing through my mind. This is the epitome of frustration...
